1. An experiment was conducted to study the effects of whole wheat, oats and barley at different inclusion levels on performance, starch digestibility, duodenal particle size distribution, gizzard weight and pH of gizzard contents for broiler chickens. 2. Feed consumption and weight gain were significantly reduced when ground cereals were replaced by whole cereals (P < 0.05). However, feed conversion efficiency was not affected by inclusion of up to 440 g/kg of whole wheat, and up to 300 g/kg of whole oats and barley. 3. Duodenal particle size was measured by laser diffraction to below 1 micron in size. A remarkably large proportion of particles were below 100 microns, with as much as 50% of the particles in the duodenum being below 40 microns in size. Inclusion of moderate amounts of whole cereals reduced the duodenal mean particle size. Large inclusions of whole cereals decreased (P < 0.05) the proportion of particles up to 40 microns in size, and increased (P < 0.05) the proportion with size between 100 and 300 microns. 4. Starch digestibility was improved (P < 0.05) by replacing ground wheat or barley with whole wheat or barley. 5. There was no consistent effect of cereal species or feed form on the pH value of the gizzard contents. 相似文献

1. The effects of whole grains of wheat on the digestive tract of broiler chickens was studied. A complete pelleted feed was compared with free choice feeding of whole wheat and a pelleted protein concentrate, given from 7 to 29 d of age. 2. Pepsin activity in proventriculus tissue was lower in whole wheat-fed birds than in complete diet-fed birds. The weight (g/kg body weight) of the gizzard was higher in whole wheat-fed birds and its contents had a lower pH. 3. In the intestine, there were no differences in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) concentration, protein/DNA, ribonucleic acid (RNA)/DNA, RNA/protein ratios or alkaline phosphatase activity expressed per tissue weight. The weight (g/kg body weight) of the duodenum was lower in whole wheat-fed birds and its contents had a higher pH. Also the activities of alkaline phosphatase and leucine aminopeptidase in the duodenum, and maltase in the ileum, expressed per unit of bird weight, were lower in whole wheat-fed birds. 4. These results suggest that whole grain feeding increases the chemical (pepsin in proventriculus) and physical (gizzard muscle) functionality of the upper part of the digestive tract but decreases the digestive capacity of the intestine. Higher gizzard functionality may play a positive role in the control of bacterial populations. The lower digestive enzyme activities in the intestine may be detrimental in situations of mucosal deterioration caused by intestinal disease. 相似文献

With a view to gaining an insight into the regulatory mechanism of blood glucose concentrations specific to the chicken, an experimental induction of hypoglycemia was conducted by single or sequential administration of tolbutamide in broiler chickens fed a standard or low-carbohydrate diet. A single dosing of tolbutamide at levels of 25-200 mg/kg body weight decreased plasma glucose concentrations for 2 to 8 h after the dosing in chickens fed either diet. No significant rise in plasma insulin concentration was observed for 2 to 24 h after the single dosing of tolbutamide in chickens on either diet, with the exception of a significant rise when chickens on the standard diet received 100 mg tolbutamide. However, a transient increase of plasma insulin concentration was observed only in the 20 min immediately after the single dosing. Persistent hypoglycemia that was sustained for 5 days, with no significant changes in plasma insulin concentration, was induced by sequential dosing (3 times per day for 5 days, every 8 h) of tolbutamide (100 and 200 mg/kg body weight) in chickens fed the low-carbohydrate diet. In these chickens, the consistently low concentration of plasma glucose, with small diurnal variations, was evidenced by the determination of plasma glucose every 3 h in day 4/5 of the tolbutamide dosing. In chickens fed the standard diet, on the other hand, the low plasma glucose concentrations for 5 days were accompanied by significant diurnal fluctuations. Chickens with persistent hypoglycemia showed slight decreases in plasma non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) concentration and only slight changes in blood D-3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB) concentration. The present study shows that the persistent hypoglycemia with normoinsulinemia, in the main, is induced by tolbutamide dosing in chickens fed a low-carbohydrate diet, and that the blood concentrations of NEFA and 3HB, alternatives of energy source in animals, are only slightly changed or not at all in hypoglycemic chickens. 相似文献

1. This study was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of using a transformed Lactobacillus reuteri Pg4 strain harbouring a rumen fungal xylanase gene as a probiotic supplement in a wheat-based poultry diet. 2. A total of 400 broiler chicks was allocated to two treatment groups with or without supplementation with 10(6) colony forming units (cfu)/g of transformed L. reuteri Pg4 in a wheat-based regimen to investigate the performance, intestinal microflora populations, digesta viscosity and excreta ammonia concentrations in these broiler chickens. 3. Supplementation of the wheat-based diet with transformed L. reuteri Pg4 decreased intestinal viscosity, caecal coliform population, and increased body weight gain and ileal villus height and crypt depth from 0 to 21 d of age. It also decreased excreta ammonia concentrations, and increased the caecal total volatile fatty acid (VFA) and lactic acid concentrations from 0 to 21 d and 22 to 37 d of age. 4. Further, it was demonstrated that 40% of the Lactobacillus cells randomly isolated from the digesta of the ileum and caecum of the supplemented group possessed xylanase secretion capability. 5. It appears reasonable to assume, therefore, that the derived benefit is a result of the organism surviving, and the associated performance of some function in the intestinal tract which benefits gut health. 相似文献

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of dietary supplementation of a probiotic and a synbiotic on the morphometric parameters of the small intestine of broiler chickens. The experiment was conducted on three hundred sixty, one‐day‐old female Ross 308 chicks, which were randomly selected from 20,000 birds and divided into three treatment groups ( n = 120) with ten replicates per treatment. The control group (C) was fed a commercial diet, the probiotic group (PRO) was fed the same diet with an added 1% of the probiotic Lavipan® ( Lactococcus lactis, Carnobacterium divergens, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum and Saccharomyces cerevisiae), and the synbiotic group (SYN) was fed the commercial diet with an added synbiotic: 0.8% of the prebiotic RFO (extracted from lupin seeds) and 1% Lavipan®. According to the manufacturer's data, apart from the typical probiotic action, microorganisms contained in the preparation release anti‐bacterial substances (hydrogen peroxide and bacteriocins) and, therefore, are antagonistic towards pathogenic bacteria present in the gut of animals. Supplementation took place in the first seven days of rearing, and all birds had ad libitum access to water and feed during the 42 days of the experiment. On the last day, all birds were slaughtered and samples from three segments of the small intestine were taken. Villi area, height, width and crypt depth ratios were read using Multiscan software. Synbiotic supplementation increased the BWG of broilers from first to tenth day of rearing, compared to the control group. The PRO group had improved villi morphometric parameters of the duodenum. In the jejunum and ileum, both bioactive substances improved villus width and villus surface area. Crypts were deeper in the small intestine of birds supplemented with bioactive substances, which allows greater renewal of the villi. As expected, the intestinal morphometric parameters of broiler chickens benefited from bioactive substance supplementation. 相似文献

1. Dried poultry manure (DPM) has been tested as a replacement for groundnut cake in poultry diets. 2. Body weight gain, and the efficiency of food conversion were improved when the diet contained 50 g DPM/kg but higher rates of inclusion (100 or 150 g/kg) depressed growth. 3. Birds fed on diets containing 50 g DPM/kg yielded meat of comparable quality to those fed on the control diet whereas those fed on diets containing more DPM yielded meat containing more fat and less water. 4. The percentage moisture in the meat was inversely related to the lipid content. 5. Nitrogen retention was comparable in all groups. 相似文献

1. Birds were fed diets containing ground or whole wheat and titanium dioxide for 10 min, followed by dissection of 4 birds per treatment after 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 min. 2. The crop, proventriculus and gizzard, duodenum, jejunum, and ileum from each bird were dried and combusted, and titanium content in each section was determined. 3. Significant amounts of titanium were found in the small intestine of the birds as soon as 30 min after being given feed containing titanium, and significant amounts had passed the small intestine after 120 to 150 min. 4. Titanium contents equivalent to approximately 5 g feed were eliminated from the gizzard per hour independently of whether ground or whole wheat was used. Thus, a hypothesis that the use of whole grain would slow down passage rate through the upper digestive tract was not supported by the current results. 相似文献

1. Three maize diets containing 0, 1 or 3 g of guar gum per kg and 2 wheat diets were given to male broiler chickens for measurements of growth performance and nutrient digestibility. 2. The intestinal viscosities found with wheat diets were within the range of those observed with the 3 maize diets. The correlations between in vivo and in vitro viscosities were higher with real than with potential applied viscosity. 3. The gain:food ratio decreased (P < 0.05) with the addition of 3 g guar gum/kg. The mean gain:food ratio observed for wheat diets was lower (P = 0.007) than the mean value found for the 3 maize diets. 4. The negative effects of increased intestinal viscosity due to guar gum addition on nutrient digestibility were highest for lipids and lowest for starch. 5. Wheat diets resulted in much lower (P < 0.001) starch apparent digestibility compared to maize diets with added guar gum despite similar mean intestinal viscosities in the 2 groups of diets. Apparent lipid digestibility with wheat diets was lower (P < 0.01) than the value predicted from intestinal viscosity, the predictive model having been calculated with the guar gum added maize diets. Apparent protein digestibility did not differ between wheat diets and guar gum added maize diets. 6. It was concluded that the low apparent digestibilities of starch and lipid observed with wheats could not be attributed only to intestinal viscosity and that other factors appear to be implicated in the low digestibilities observed with the wheat samples tested in the present experiment. 相似文献

1. In two experiments, no consistent differences in weight gain or food intake appeared between broiler chickens given diets based on whole or rolled barley, but food: gain ratio and gizzard weight as a percentage of live weight were reduced ( P<0.05) when barley was rolled. Grit addition did not affect performance or intestinal characteristics. 2. In a third experiment, whole barley diets gave significandy higher weight gain than ground barley diets; this was attributable to the significandy higher food consumption. Gizzard weight as a percentage of live weight increased (P< 0.05) when whole barley was fed, while foodrgain ratio was not significandy (P>0.05) affected by the form of barley. 3. The number of particles in the intestinal contents with sizes larger than 2.4 mm was not significantly (P<0.05) different between broiler chickens fed on whole barley and those fed ground barley, but the number of particles with sizes between 2.4 and 0.7 mm was lower (P< 0.05) when diets with whole barley were fed. 4. Enzyme addition increased (P< 0.05) weight gain and the DM of intestinal contents, and decreased (P<0.05) intestinal viscosity, food:gain ratio and pancreas weight as a percentage of live weight regardless of form of the barley. 相似文献

The effect of oligofructose (FOS) or trans-galactooligosaccharides (TOS) inclusion at 10 g/kg diet for growing pigs, at the expense of cornstarch (CON), on growth performance, nutrient digestibilities, and faecal physicochemical parameters was determined. In addition, concentration of volatile fatty acids (VFA) and bacterial -glucosidase, β-glucosidase, β-galactosidase and β-glucuronidase activities in faeces were determined as markers of intestinal microflora metabolic activity. Twelve 35-day-old castrated pigs were allocated to CON, FOS and TOS dietary treatments for an experimental period of 4 weeks. Dietary treatments did not affect animal growth performance. FOS and TOS pigs tended to have a lower faecal output than CON pigs by approximately 6.0% and 1.7% respectively. FOS and TOS did not affect total tract apparent digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, fat, crude protein, crude fiber, ADF and cellulose. Digestibility of carbohydrate components such as nitrogen free extract and NDF was significantly ( P ≤ 0.05) higher in TOS pigs compared to CON and FOS. Digestibility of hemicellulose in TOS pigs did not differ from FOS but was significantly higher from CON. The experimental period had a significant effect on most of the parameters determined. There were no significant ( P ≤ 0.05) differences between treatments regarding total VFA concentration and faecal bacterial enzyme activities. Nevertheless, an increased saccharolytic activity in the gut of FOS and TOS pigs could be postulated by the trends for apparently higher VFA concentration and bacterial -glucosidase and β-galactosidase activities. 相似文献

1. Four experiments with growing broiler chickens were carried out to study the effects of the inclusion in their diets of lupin (Lupinus angustifolius ) seed meal on E. coli and lactobacilli counts in crop, ileum and caeca at 3 or 4 weeks of age. 2. Diets were formulated to contain the same amounts of metabolisable energy (12.55 MJ/kg) and protein (210 g/kg). Raw whole (heat-untreated) or dehulled sweet (low in alkaloids) lupin seed meal (400 and 320 g/kg respectively) were used to prepare the lupin-based diets, whose protein content was completed with either defatted soyabean meal or casein. 3. Final body weight and food intake of chickens fed on whole lupin seed meal diets were lower than controls, but gain: food ratios were not different. However, birds given the diet with dehulled lupin seed meal had similar body weight, food intake and gain: food values as those of controls. 4. While E. coli counts were not affected, lactobacilli numbers were consistently increased compared to controls in all intestinal sections of chickens fed on the whole or dehulled lupin-based diets, irrespective of the age of the birds or the presence of soyabean meal or casein in the diet. The lactobacilli species isolated were: Lactobacillus fermentum, L. acidophilus, L. salivarius and L. brevis 5. The results suggest that the use of whole or dehulled sweet lupin seed meal in diets for growing broilers might enhance the growth of lactic acid-fermenting bacteria in the gut. 相似文献

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of malate supplementation on growth rate, feed efficiency, and diet digestibility in growing lambs. Twenty-four Merino lambs with a mean BW of 15.3 +/- 0.22 kg were divided into 3 homogenous groups. Each group was randomly allocated to 1 of 3 malate (16% disodium malate:84% calcium malate) levels: 0 (control), 4 (MAL-4), or 8 (MAL-8) g/kg of concentrate. Lambs were fed concentrate and barley straw ad libitum for 35 d. After a 20-d period, diet digestibility was determined, and microbial N flow at the duodenum was estimated from the urinary excretion of purine derivatives. Blood samples were taken on d 0, 20, and 35. On d 35, lambs were slaughtered and ruminal fluid samples were collected. There were no effects (P = 0.18 to P = 0.95) of malate on concentrate or straw intake, ADG, carcass yield, and apparent digestibility of OM, CP, NDF, or ADF. Malate supplementation did not influence (P = 0.80) the daily urinary excretion of total purine derivatives, and therefore there were no treatment effects (P = 0.77) on estimated microbial N flow at the duodenum. No differences (P > 0.05) among treatments were observed for plasma concentrations of glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, urea-N, lactate, or VFA, but malate addition increased (P = 0.003) the molar proportion of butyrate in ruminal fluid (4.29, 6.14, and 5.45% of total VFA for control, MAL-4 and MAL-8, respectively). The use of malate as a feed additive under the conditions of the current study did not influence diet intake or digestion, and consequently did not improve lamb performance. 相似文献

Fermentation of cereal grains may degrade myo-inositol 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexakis (dihydrogen phosphate) (InsP 6) thereby increasing nutrient digestibility. Effects of chemical acidification or fermentation with Limosilactobacillus ( L.) reuteri with or without phytase of high β-glucan hull-less barley grain on apparent ileal digestibility (AID) and apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of nutrients and gross energy (GE), standardized ileal digestibility (SID) of crude protein (CP) and amino acids (AAs), and standardized total tract digestibility (STTD) of P were assessed in growing pigs. Pigs were fed four mash barley-based diets balanced for water content: 1) unfermented barley (Control); 2) chemically acidified barley (ACD) with lactic acid and acidic acid (0.019 L/kg barley grain at a ratio of 4:1 [vol/vol]); 3) barley fermented with L. reuteri TMW 1.656 (Fermented without phytase); and 4) barley fermented with L. reuteri TMW 1.656 and phytase (Fermented with phytase; 500 FYT/kg barley grain). The acidification and fermentation treatments occurred for 24 h at 37 °C in a water bath. The four diets were fed to eight ileal-cannulated barrows (initial body weight [BW], 17.4 kg) for four 11-d periods in a double 4 × 4 Latin square. Barley grain InsP 6 content of Control, ACD, Fermented without phytase, or Fermented with phytase was 1.12%, 0.59%, 0.52% dry matter (DM), or not detectable, respectively. Diet ATTD of DM, CP, Ca, and GE, digestible energy (DE), predicted net energy (NE) value, and urinary excretion of P were greater ( P < 0.05) for ACD than Control. Diet ATTD of DM, CP, Ca, GE, DE and predicted NE value, urinary excretion of P was greater ( P < 0.05), and diet AID of Ca and ATTD and STTD of P tended to be greater ( P < 0.10) for Fermented without phytase than Control. Diet ATTD of GE was lower ( P < 0.05) and diet ATTD and STTD of P, AID and ATTD of Ca was greater ( P < 0.05) for Fermented with phytase than Fermented without phytase. Acidification or fermentation with/without phytase did not affect diet SID of CP and AA. In conclusion, ACD or Fermented without phytase partially degraded InsP 6 in barley grain and increased diet ATTD of DM, CP, and GE, but not SID of CP and most AA in growing pigs. Fermentation with phytase entirely degraded InsP 6 in barley grain and maximized P and Ca digestibility, thereby reducing the need to provide inorganic dietary P to meet P requirements of growing pigs. 相似文献

1. Three maize diets containing graded levels (0, 0.1, 0.3%) of guar gum and two wheat diets differing in their in vitro viscosities were fed to male broiler chickens (7 to 23 d) for measurements of growth performance and analyses of degradation products from lipid and protein hydrolyses in the small intestine of broiler chickens. Analyses of degradation products were conducted to define which step (hydrolysis or absorption) was most involved in the negative effects of the digesta viscosity on lipid and protein digestibilities. The experiment was also carried out to examine whether effects of wheats could be explained in terms of intestinal viscosity alone. 2. The intestinal viscosities with wheat diets were within the range of those observed with the three maize diets. The correlations between in vivo and in vitro viscosities were higher with real than with potential applied viscosity of diets, both in jejunum and ileum. 3. The mean gain:food ratio observed with wheat diets was lower (P<0.05) than with maize diets despite lower (P<0.05) mean intestinal viscosities in birds given the wheat than given the maize diets. This shows that factors different from intestinal viscosity were also involved in the negative effects of wheats. 4. Distributions of nitrogen compounds in digesta were characterised by low proportions of compounds with high molecular weight (>12,000). For all classes of nitrogen compounds, the contents measured in digesta dry matter did not differ between chickens fed with or without guar gum. 5. Distributions of lipid classes in both jejunum and ileum were characterised by a large proportion of free fatty acids (FFA) and very few triglycerides (TG). In the ileum, FFA and TG contents were both positively correlated with supernatant viscosity, but the slope for FFA content was 35 times higher than for TG. In these relationships, there was no difference between maize and wheat diets. 6. It is concluded that absorption was the main step involved in the lipid digestibility reduction due to intestinal viscosity. For proteins, the most important step (hydrolysis or absorption) involved in decreased digestibility due to intestinal viscosity was not clearly identified. 相似文献

1. The aim of the present experiment was to examine the influence of whole wheat inclusion and a blend of essential oils (EO; cinnamaldehyde and thymol) supplementation on the performance, nutrient utilisation, digestive tract development and ileal microbiota profile of broiler chickens. 2. The experimental design was a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement of treatments evaluating two wheat forms (ground wheat [GW] and whole wheat [WW]; 100 and 200 g/kg WW replacing GW during starter [1 to 21 d] and finisher [22 to 35 d] diets respectively) and two levels of EO inclusion (0 or 100 g/tonne diet). All dietary treatments were supplemented with 2000 xylanase units/kg feed. Broiler starter and finisher diets based on wheat and soybean meal were formulated and each diet fed ad libitum to 6 pens of 8 male broilers. 3. During the trial period (1-35 d), wheat form had no significant effect on weight gain or feed intake. However, WW inclusion tended (P = 0.06) to improve feed per gain. Essential oil supplementation significantly improved weight gain in both diets, but the improvements were greater in the GW diet as indicated by a significant wheat form × EO interaction. 4. Main effects of wheat form and EO on the relative weight, length and digesta content of various segments of the digestive tract were not significant. Significant interactions, however, were found for relative gizzard and caecal weights. Essential oil supplementation significantly increased the relative gizzard weight and lowered relative caecal weight in birds fed on the GW based diet, but had no effect in those fed on the WW based diet. 5. Whole wheat inclusion and EO supplementation significantly improved apparent ileal nitrogen digestibility. Apparent ileal digestible energy was not significantly influenced by the dietary treatments. 6. Ileal microbiota profiling, using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis, showed that the ileal microbiota composition was influenced by feed form. The mean numbers of bacterial species in the ileal contents of birds fed on the GW diet supplemented with EO tended (P = 0.07) to be higher than those of the ileal contents of birds fed on unsupplemented GW based diet. 7. The present data suggested that dietary addition of EO improves broiler weight gain and ileal nitrogen digestibility both in GW and WW based diets, but that the magnitude of the response to EO for weight gain was greater in GW based diet. Whole wheat feeding was found to be beneficial in terms of feed efficiency. 相似文献

Effects were evaluated of high dietary levels of magnesium oxide (MgO) or limestone on DM, OM and CP digestibility, N balance and intestinal absorption of amino acids by lambs fed a high concentrate diet. Twelve wether lambs equipped with abomasal and ileal cannulas were blocked by weight and breeding and allotted to treatments in a randomized block design in two consecutive trials. Diets were control (800 g), control plus 1.5% MgO (812 g), control plus 1.5% limestone (812 g) and control plus 3.0% limestone (824 g) fed in two equal portions at 12-h intervals. Ruminal fluid pH differences were small. The pH of ileal digesta was greater (P less than .05) with MgO than with limestone (8.23 vs 7.73). Fecal pH was higher (P less than .01) for lambs fed all mineral treatments (avg 8.75) than for lambs fed the control (7.61) and was higher (P less than .01) when MgO (9.53) rather than limestone (8.36) was fed. Ruminal NH3N was lower (P less than .01) when lambs were fed MgO (11.9 mg/dl) compared with limestone (avg 31.2 mg/dl). Preintestinal DM digestibility was greatest (P less than .10) with limestone (avg 49.5%) feeding compared with feeding MgO (31.2%) or the control (35.4%). About 41.5% more essential (P less than .05) and 48% more nonessential (P less than .03) amino acids reached the small intestine when MgO was fed than when limestone was fed. Partial digestibility of amino acids in the small intestine was reduced (P less than .03) an average of 5 percentage units when MgO or limestone was fed. Feeding high levels of MgO or limestone to lambs did not improve the overall digestibility of DM, OM or CP. In fact, feeding high levels of MgO or limestone appeared to be detrimental, reducing intestinal absorption of amino acids. 相似文献

The objective of these studies was to determine if dietary enzymes increase the digestibility of nutrients bound by nonstarch polysaccharides, such as arabinoxylans, or phytate in wheat millrun. Effects of millrun inclusion rates (20 or 40%), xylanase (0 or 4,375 units/kg of feed), and phytase (0 or 500 phytase units/kg of feed) on nutrient digestibility and growth performance were investigated in a 2 x 2 x 2 factorial arrangement with a wheat control diet (0% millrun). Diets were formulated to contain 3.34 Mcal of DE/kg and 3.0 g of true ileal digestible Lys/Mcal of DE and contained 0.4% chromic oxide. Each of 18 cannulated pigs (36.2 +/- 1.9 kg of BW) was fed 3 diets at 3x maintenance in successive 10-d periods for 6 observations per diet. Feces and ileal digesta were collected for 2 d. Ileal energy digestibility was reduced (P < 0.01) linearly by millrun and increased by xylanase (P < 0.01) and phytase (P < 0.05). Total tract energy digestibility was reduced linearly by millrun (P < 0.01) and increased by xylanase (P < 0.01). For 20% millrun, xylanase plus phytase improved DE content from 3.53 to 3.69 Mcal/kg of DM, a similar content to that of the wheat control diet (3.72 Mcal/kg of DM). Millrun linearly reduced (P < 0.01) ileal digestibility of Lys, Thr, Met, Ile, and Val. Xylanase improved (P < 0.05) ileal digestibility of Ile. Phytase improved ileal digestibility of Lys, Thr, Ile, and Val (P < 0.05). Millrun linearly reduced (P < 0.05) total tract P and Ca digestibility and retention. Phytase (P < 0.01) and xylanase (P < 0.05) improved total tract P digestibility, and phytase and xylanase tended to improve (P < 0.10) P retention. Phytase improved Ca digestibility (P < 0.05) and retention (P < 0.01). The 9 diets were also fed for 35 d to 8 individually housed pigs (36.2 +/- 3.4 kg of BW) per diet. Millrun reduced (P < 0.05) ADFI, ADG, and final BW. Xylanase increased (P < 0.05) G:F; phytase reduced (P < 0.05) ADFI; and xylanase tended to reduce (P = 0.07) ADFI. In summary, millrun reduced energy, AA, P, and Ca digestibility and growth performance compared with the wheat control diet. Xylanase and phytase improved energy, AA, and P digestibility, indicating that nonstarch polysaccharides and phytate limit nutrient digestibility in wheat byproducts. The improvement by xylanase of energy digestibility coincided with improved G:F but did not translate into improved ADG. 相似文献

Two completely random digestion trials were conducted, each with 12 beef steers (325 kg initial weight), to measure changes in digestibilities of fat and of forage components when fat was added to diets containing 62 to 76% wheat straw. Trial 1 diets contained either no added fat or 6.3% added fat from whole cottonseed (30% of the diet), cottonseed oil or animal fat; diets were formulated to contain equal levels of cottonseed hulls and cottonseed meal. Trial 2 diets contained 0, 2, 4 or 8% added animal fat. In all forms and at all levels, added fat increased apparent digestibility of dietary lipid (P less than .05). However, estimated true digestibility of lipid decreased (from 94 to 71%) as added fat was increased from 0 to 8% (P less than .05). Up to 6.3% added fat increased digestible energy (DE) content of the diet. Fat additions of 2 and 4% increased daily DE intake (P less than .05) and did not depress digestibility of diet components (P greater than .05). Fat additions of 6.3% or greater, either as free fats or as whole cottonseed, reduced (P less than .05) mean acid detergent fiber digestibility from 40 to 28%. In addition to depressing fiber digestibility, 8% added fat reduced (P less than .05) digestibilities of dry matter (from 54 to 47%), organic matter (60 to 52%) and gross energy (60 to 51%). Oil fed as whole cottonseed caused digestibility depressions similar to free fat addition at the same level.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS) 相似文献

1. Two experiments were conducted to measure changes in nutrient utilisation in the newly hatched broiler chicken. The first experiment determined the nitrogen-corrected apparent metabolisable energy (AME(N)) and total tract digestibility of starch and fat in diets based on wheat, sorghum and maize during the first two weeks post-hatch. The second experiment was conducted to confirm the results of Experiment 1 using wheat- and maize-based diets and was of 21 d duration. 2. In both experiments, changes to AME(N) with age were similar irrespective of the diet type, declining from d 3 to d 5-9 and then increasing after d 9. 3. In Experiment 1, the total tract digestibility of starch and fat exhibited a pattern similar to that of AME(N). 4. In Experiment 1, cereal effects were significant, with maize- and sorghum-based diets having higher AME(N) values than the wheat-based diet. Total tract starch digestibility determined for d 5, 7 and 14 showed no cereal differences. Total tract fat digestibility on d 7 was significantly lower for the wheat- and sorghum-based diets than for the maize-based diet, but no cereal differences were observed on d 5 or 14. 5. In Experiment 2, cereal effects were significant, with the maize-based diet having a higher AME(N) than the wheat-based diet. 6. These results showed that nutrient utilisation is compromised during the first week of life of the broiler chick. 相似文献
