Amino‐substituted derivatives of 2‐ethyl‐1,3,4(2H)‐isoquinolinetrione have been prepared with the aim of enhancing their hydrolytic stabilities relative to other isoquinolinetriones, and hence potentially improving their herbicidal effects. 5‐Amino‐2‐ethyl‐1,3,4(2H)‐isoquinolinetrione has been shown to be 12 and 8 times more stable towards hydrolysis than the isomeric 7‐ and 8‐amino derivatives, respectively, and 120 times more stable than 2‐ethyl‐1,3,4(2H)‐isoquinolinetrione itself. Pulse radiolysis studies have shown 5‐amino‐2‐ethyl‐1,3,4(2H)‐isoquinolinetrione to have free‐radical properties which could enhance the generation of superoxide radicals in plants. The compound is a potent stimulator of the light‐dependent consumption of oxygen at photosystem I in isolated chloroplasts and also shows high activity in isolated leaf discs. Evidence is presented which indicates that the rate of foliar uptake is a major factor affecting herbicidal activity for this compound. © 2000 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Derivatives of 2‐ethyl‐1,3,4(2H)‐isoquinolinetrione in which the 4‐keto group has been modified to (Z)‐oxime, (E)‐ and (Z)‐O‐methyl oxime, (Z)‐N,N‐dimethyl hydrazone, cyano‐imine and dicyanomethylene moieties have been prepared and evaluated as redox mediator herbicides. All of the compounds have the free‐radical properties required to function as redox mediators, as determined by cyclic voltammetry, though only the O‐methyl oximes, the N,N‐dimethyl hydrazone and the cyano‐imine have reduction potentials in the range required to stimulate the light‐dependent consumption of oxygen at photosystem I in isolated chloroplasts. The O‐methyl oximes and the cyano‐imine are fast‐acting post‐emergence herbicides, producing symptoms of rapid desiccation; the (E)‐O‐methyl oxime is the most active herbicide, being somewhat more potent than the parent isoquinolinetrione. Hydrolysis studies indicate that it is unlikely that any compound generates the parent isoquinolinetrione in vivo. Attempts to explain differences between in vitro and in vivo activities using hydrolytic stabilities and physical properties were unsuccessful, and it was concluded that these factors probably play a less significant role in moderating the herbicidal activity of isoquinolinetrione derivatives than originally thought. © 2000 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Novel tricyclic 3,3a,5,9b-tetrahydro-2H-furo[3,2-c][2]benzopyran (TFB) derivatives were synthesized, and their herbicidal activities were elucidated. They were synthesized from D-glucose as a natural chiral source. The formation of the TFB skeleton was achieved by a Friedel-Crafts type intramolecular cyclization of methyl 5-deoxy-2,3-O-dibenzyl-5-C-methyl-D-xylofranosides. The intramolecular cyclization was dependent upon the electronic effects of the substituents at the C-2 benzyloxy group of methyl xylofranosides. Some TFBs exhibited a remarkable herbicidal activity to annual paddy weeds, such as Echinochloa sp, without injury to the rice.  相似文献

Ethoxylates of rapeseed oil and of methylated rapeseed oil were synthesized and tested as adjuvants for 2,4-D and phenmedipham. Provided they had less than 6 units of ethylene oxide (EO), 1.0 to 10 g litre(-1) ethoxylates in water induced droplet spreading on barley leaves. In an acetone-based medium all derivatives strongly promoted the foliar uptake of 2,4-D, with no clear influence of the ethoxylation degree. In the same medium there was a negative influence of ethoxylate chain length on the foliar uptake of phenmedipham. In a water-based medium, phenmedipham applied with rapeseed oil emulsified with ethoxylated (20 EO) rapeseed oil displayed uptake rates close to a commercial preparation. The same was true for phenmedipham applied with ethoxylated (2 EO) methylated rapeseed oil. In bioassays, phenmedipham prepared with methylated rapeseed oil emulsified with ethoxylated (20 EO) rapeseed oil was as efficacious on barley as a commercial formulation. The same was true for phenmedipham prepared with ethoxylated (2 EO) methylated rapeseed oil. However, neither rapeseed oil nor methylated rapeseed oil emulsified with ethoxylated (2 EO) methylated rapeseed oil conferred good efficacy to phenmedipham. Hence, ethoxylated rapeseed oil derivatives are promising adjuvants or formulants for herbicides.  相似文献

A series of novel types of 7‐(4,6‐dimethoxypyrimidin‐2‐yl)oxy ‐ and ‐thio‐3‐methyl‐1 (3H)‐isobenzofuranones were discovered at Dr R Maag AG. From the thio‐isobenzofuranyl series, CGA 279 233—BSI‐proposed common name pyriftalid—was chosen for further development as a grass herbicide for use in rice. General synthetic approaches to these new phthalic acid‐derived compounds are given, with emphasis on the synthesis of pyriftalid and its physico‐chemical behaviour. © 2001 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献
