Feeding activity was investigated from June to October in a group of 60 sea bass, Dicentrachus labrax. The fish were kept in an earthen pond in a maritime wetland subject to the fluctuations of the natural environment. The fish fed by operating a demand feeder connected to a data logger which recorded each feeding act with a time reference. Meteorological and hydrological data were also recorded. Diurnal rhythms in feeding activity changed as the months progressed. Fish fed during daylight, preferentially at dawn in June, but in the middle of the day from August to October. Most feeding took place during subdued light. Feeding was closely and positively correlated to both daylength and water temperature; daylength being the most related factor associated with rainfall and East-West wind direction. 相似文献

This study deals with the influence of temperature on the hatching of eggs of Diplectanum aequans, a branchial ectoparasite of sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax). At temperatures of 20 °C, 25 C and 30 °C hatching takes place within a few days of laying, whereas at 15 C and 10 C it occurs respectively between the 7th and the 12th day and between the 11th and the 19th day. No hatching has been observed at 5 C. Development is not completely inhibited at 5 C as the eggs can, at least partially, go on maturing and will subsequently hatch as soon as higher temperatures are encountered. 相似文献

Five diets having the same proximate composition but containingdifferent types of supplemental oils, singly or in combination, were used forgrowing sea bass from 95 g to about 200 g in smallseacages. The oils tested were olive oil, soybean oil and fish oil. The dietsformulated contained EPA and DHA levels ranging from 0.88 to 1.35% of the diet.Growth parameters and fish body composition were not significantly affected bythe type of oil used. The same was generally apparent for liver andhematological characteristics. The content of phospholipids in EPA and DHA washighest in the livers of fish fed diets supplemented with fish oil. A positivecorrelation was found between dietary and liver n-6 PUFA. Histological sectionsindicated extended pathological symptoms (intensive liver degeneration andhemorrhages, changes in the gill structure) in the fish receiving dietssupplemented only with plant oils. These symptoms existed but to a smallerfrequency and degree in livers of fish fed diets supplemented with plant andfish oil, while were not apparent in those fed the fish oil diet. 相似文献

The transfer of L-ascorbic acid (AA) from broodstock to the fertilised eggs and it's dynamics in embryos and fasting larvae, has been studied in sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax L.) and sea bream (Sparus aurata L.). Two types of diets were fed to the broodstocks: one containing sufficient ascorbate for normal growth and the other with an extra addition of a very high dose (2,000 mg/kg feed) of ethyl-cellulose-coated L-ascorbic acid.The concentration of AA and total ascorbate (L-ascorbic acid plus dehydroascorbic acid) was detected through several embryo and larval development stages, including larvae just before feeding. In sea bass and sea bream, the mean (SD) concentration of total ascorbate in fertilised eggs originating from broodstock fed AA supplemented diet, was 218.5 (17.7) and 122.4 (5.1) g/g wet weight respectively. This was significantly higher (P < 0.01) than the unsupplemented groups, which contained only 155.9 (6.9) and 103.9 (3.5) g/g wet weight respectively. A diet with a vitamin C content adequate for normal growth, may not be sufficient for broodstock when the goal is transfer of TAA to embryos. © Rapid Science Ltd. 1998 相似文献

European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) fry vaccinated orally via bioencapsulation in Artemia nauplii or by bath method exhibited better performance than control fish in terms of growth, food conversion and resistance to stress. The comparable survival between vaccinated and non-vaccinated animals suggests that vaccination methods are not stressful. European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and gilthead sea bream(Sparus aurata) are amongst the most important finfish speciescultured in the Mediterranean region. Production of these species isnowadays a well-controlled process, but knowledge of their nutritionalrequirements is still very limited. Nevertheless, a considerable amountof data has been accumulated in recent years, and the purpose of thispaper is to review the recent advances on the nutritional requirementsof sea bass and sea bream. The optimum protein to energy ratio of thediets of sea bass and sea bream seem to be higher than for salmonids,and there is some evidence that high dietary lipid levels have nobeneficial effects on fish performances. Although the essential aminoacid requirements were estimated by the ideal protein method, data basedon the dose-response method is only available for a few amino acids.Essential fatty acid requirements were estimated for sea bream juvenilesbut data is lacking for sea bass. Vitamin and mineral requirements ofthese species are practically unknown. Although the importance ofbroodstock nutrition on gonadal development, spawning and egg quality isrecognized, few studies were done to elucidate these aspects. Biosensors in the detection of K1 value (a ratiobased on the changes in ATP catabolites contentoccurring in the muscle after death) and biogenicamines for evaluation of fish quality were tested. TheK1 value was determined, every 24 h, from 24 to168 h after death, by HPLC and by a xanthine oxidasebiosensor on 36 sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)stored at 1°C with ice covering. TheK1 value by biosensor and the biogenic amines byHPLC and by a diamine-oxidase biosensor were evaluatedevery 24 h after death or thawing until spoilage on150 sea bass, reared under aeration or atsupersaturated oxygen level and stored at 4°C,1°C with ice covering, –20°C × 30 d and–80°C × 90 d. Refrigerated fish were evaluatedby the EU sensory scheme. A close relation betweenHPLC and biosensor-values emerged for K1 value.Reliable estimates by biosensor K1% of both EUfreshness classes and the quality of frozen bass werefound. Biogenic amine levels remained fairly lowwithin the edibility period but putrescine showed moreevident changes, making it promising as a spoilageindicator in frozen fish. Storage conditions markedlyinfluenced changes after death or thawing in K1value or, even less, in biogenic amine levels,putrescine particularly, while dissolved oxygen inwater of rearing did not. 相似文献

In 2000–2001, an investigation was performed in two Sicilian mariculture sites (Pachino and Castellammare) to monitor physiological and biochemical parameters in sea bream (Sparus aurata) and sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) specimens farmed in off-shore sea cages. Plasma cortisol and glucose levels, tissue lactate concentration, haematocrit and haemoglobin content, lysozyme, haemolytic and haemagglutinating activities were determined. During the experiment, an increase in tissue lactate and plasma cortisol levels and a reduction in haemolytic and haemagglutinating titers, were recorded. Changes occurring in these haematological, immunological and biochemical values suggest that these parameters can be useful indicators in assessing the condition of chronic stress induced by mariculture operations. 相似文献

Meiotic gynogenetic and triploid sea bass were produced by pressure shocks according to a previously published protocol. Pressure-treated groups did not survive as well as controls during early development and larval rearing. Performances, sexual maturation and carcass quality were examined over a period of 34–45 months. At the age of 34 months, growth of the gynogenetic fish was comparable to that of the control but inferior in the triploid fish. A predominance of male fish was found within the triploid groups, while diploid and meiotic gynogenetic fish showed equal proportions of the sexes. Gonadal maturation in triploid fish was significantly impaired, particularly in the females that showed rudimentary ovaries. Triploid males exhibited primary maturation but proved to be gametically sterile. Pressure-induced triploids did not grow as well as diploids, but these results might be ascribed to specific on-growing conditions (communal rearing). The performance of gynogenetic sea bass was comparable to that of control. The superiority of diploid fish over their triploid counterparts was confirmed during the final growing period and more clearly so in females. Performances of triploids varied according to their maternal origin. Overall, striking qualitative differences between diploid and triploid fish were found at the age of 34 and 45 months, although the results varied in a gender-specific manner. A strong maternal effect was also observed. The potential advantages of triploid sea bass for aquaculture purposes are discussed. 相似文献

The combined effect of feeding time and meal size on the growth performance and feeding rhythms were studied in European sea bass maintained under natural summer–autumn conditions. Three feeding strategies were compared: a modulated automatic-feeding (MF), a fixed automatic-feeding (FF) and a free access to self-feeders (SF). Under MF, feed was supplied in meals of different size, three times a day (morning, afternoon and evening, 33.33:16.67:50% of daily feed ration, respectively) during the first (31 days) and second (35 days) period of the experiment, and twice a day (morning and evening, 33.33:66.67% of daily feed ration, respectively) during the third period (27 days). In FF feed was supplied in equally-sized meals, three times a day (morning, afternoon and evening, 33.33:33.33:33.33% of daily feed ration) in all three periods of the experiment. Under SF, fish showed a diurnal self-feeding pattern, with the greatest percentage of self-feeding activity concentrated in the evening. In MF and FF, although feed was delivered automatically, the trigger was left in the tank to register activations as an indicator of feeding activity. The trigger activation of both treatments MF and FF was associated with the time of feed delivery. Feeding strategies affected biomass increase, specific growth rate (SGR) and feed conversion ratio (FCR), the greatest biomass increase and highest SGR being obtained with MF and the poorest FCR with FF. The results demonstrate that automatic-feeding systems, in which the quantity of feed supplied is modulated in accordance with the natural feeding rhythms of sea bass, may improve growth and feed efficiency. 相似文献

This study evaluated the effects of replacing fish meal (FM) in the diet of European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) with differently processed soybean meals on growth performance; apparent digestibility coefficients (ADCs); the activity of alkaline phosphatase and the brush border digestive enzymes: leucine amino peptidase, maltase and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase; and the fish morphometric and flesh quality. European sea bass with an initial average body weight of 187.8 ± 1.4 g, were fed either a FM based (control) diet or a soy replacement isoproteic, isolipidic and isocaloric diet. The treatments consisted replacing FM protein by: 25% toasted, dehulled and solvent-extracted soybean meal (SE25); 50% dehulled and toasted soy seeds subjected to dry extrusion and mechanical oil extraction (ME50); 50% enzyme-treated soybean meal (ET50) and an inclusion of 60% composed of 30% toasted, dehulled and solvent-extracted soybean meal and 30% enzyme-treated soybean meal (SE + ET/60). ADCs values of dry matter, crude protein, crude lipid and gross energy did not significantly differ between ME50 and SE + ET/60 but both of them were inferior to the other treatments (P < 0.05). Compared with the control FM-based diet, only the group that consumed the ME50 diet had lower specific growth rate, feed conversion ratio and gross protein retention efficiency values (P < 0.05). The protein efficiency ratio did not differ between the FM-based control group and all other soy derivate groups (P > 0.05). In order to gain more insight on the effects of the diet on fish growth, activity of the brush border enzymes was measured. No significant differences were found in leucine amino peptidase and maltase activities, between the control group and the other soy derivate groups. The activity of γ-glutamyl transpeptidase was significantly higher in the upper section in fish that consumed the control diet compared with fish that consumed the soy derivate diets. Yet, the main activity of this enzyme was found in the lower intestinal section. In all the soy derivate diets except for the SE25 diet, the activity of alkaline phosphatase was significantly lower than its activity in the control diet. Feeding diets that include various types and levels of soybean derivatives did not affect the whole body composition and slaughter yield but significantly reduced liver weight. The results show that in methionine supplemented diets, FM can be replaced in terms of protein by 25% SE, 50% ET or 60% soy composed of 30% SE and 30% ET without hampering fish performance. The inclusion of 50% protein from ME resulted in significantly lower growth performance and feed utilization. 相似文献

Peculiarities of reproduction, early ontogeny, methods of egg incubation, and influence of temperature on development are compared in wolffish (Anarhichas lupus L.) and in salmonids, mainly Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.). Reproductive indices of females are similar in both species, but differ in males due to the small production of sperm in wolffish, a difference explained by internal fertilization in the latter species. The rate of embryonal development until the beginning of differentiation of fin fold at the same temperature is similar in both species, but the period from activation to hatching is more than twice as long in wolffish as in Atlantic salmon. Wolffish hatch at a more advanced stage with a small remnant of yolk sac and begin to feed shortly thereafter. As in Atlantic salmon, eggs and larvae of wolffish have a wide range of temperature resistance except before and after hatching. Based on the difference of life cycles in wolffish and salmon, technologies for their artificial breeding are compared. 相似文献

Protein digestibility by gastrointestinal homogenates of Dicentrarchus labrax, was investigated in 5 feeds in relation to their amino acids composition and their ability to sustain growth of D. labrax post larval juveniles. Gastric proteolysis was found to contribute <25% of the total proteolytic capacity. Correlation was found between intestinal proteolytic capacity and the feed protein content of three pairs of amino acids. The sum of basic amino acids, arginine + lysine in the feed protein exhibited a positive correlation with susceptibility to proteolysis. The sum of the acid amino acids glycine and proline showed a negative correlation.Comparison of the intestinal proteolytic enzymatic activities in 3 growth stages of this species revealed similar profiles. Post larval and large juveniles had similar proteolytic capacities when compared on the basis of equal activity on an artificial substrate of Trypsin. Specific growth rates of post larval fish fed on these 5 feeds correlated positively with their protein digestibility as measured with large juvenile's intestinal homogenates. The results suggest that in this species, the efficiency of feeds in sustaining growth at the post larval stage can be estimated by measuring the feed protein digestibility by the proteolytic system of larger sized juveniles. 相似文献

Melatonin production by the fish pineal is under the control of photoperiod. In addition, in some fish species pineal melatonin production is self-sustained by an intrapineal circadian pacemaker, not in salmonids, though. The aim of this research was to test melatonin release in vitro by the pineal of sea bass held under LD 12:12 and DD conditions to determine the endogenous nature of melatonin rhythm. Annual plasma insulin and glucose cycles were studied inDicentrarchus labrax maintained in either seawater (37.8) or brackish water (3.5). In both media, the highest insulin levels were found during the prespawning period (August–November) coincident to increases in weight and a decrease in plasma glucose. During spawning (December–April) and postspawning (May–July) periods, the decrease in insulin occurred at the same time as a reduction in growth and an increase of plasma glucose. Temperature and salinity conditions impeded spawning in the brackish water group, in which a minor weight loss was regained more quickly than in the sea water group; insulin levels were also higher. 相似文献

在海水循环水养殖系统中,分别设置白光(λ_(400~780 nm))、红光(λ_(630 nm))、黄光(λ_(595 nm))、绿光(λ_(530 nm))、蓝光(λ_(455 nm))5组不同LED光谱处理组,研究5种不同LED光谱对舌齿鲈幼鱼[(29.91±0.39) g、(13.78±0.35) cm)]摄食、生长和能量分配的影响。结果显示,不同LED光谱对舌齿鲈幼鱼摄食、生长和能量分配具有显著性影响。红光谱下舌齿鲈幼鱼生长较好(41.09±5.70) g,蓝光谱下舌齿鲈幼鱼生长较差(36.02±4.18) g;蓝光谱下舌齿鲈幼鱼DGC(daily growth coefficient)显著低于其他各组,其他各组之间差异不显著;5组LED光谱处理组舌齿鲈幼鱼摄食率存在显著性差异,其中红光谱摄食率最高。类胰岛素生长因子IGF-1和IGF-2测定结果表明,白光谱下IGF-1的mRNA表达量最高;黄光谱下IGF-2的mRNA表达量最高。能量分配方面,红光谱下舌齿鲈幼鱼排粪能和代谢能较低,摄食能和生长能较高;蓝光谱下舌齿鲈幼鱼排粪能较高,摄食能和代谢能较低,生长能最低。对舌齿鲈幼鱼肌肉和肝脏RNA/DNA比值测定结果表明,蓝光谱下,舌齿鲈幼鱼肝脏RNA/DNA比值显著高于其他各组;蓝光谱和白光谱下舌齿鲈幼鱼肌肉中RNA/DNA比值存在显著性差异,其他各组之间不具有显著性差异。研究表明,红光谱下舌齿鲈幼鱼摄食、生长均表现较好,且红光谱下舌齿鲈幼鱼具有较高的摄食能和生长能;蓝光谱下舌齿鲈幼鱼摄食、生长表现较差,排粪能较高,生长能较低。因此,红光谱对舌齿鲈幼鱼摄食、生长具有积极影响;蓝光谱对舌齿鲈幼鱼摄食、生长具有不利影响。 相似文献

The effects of temperature and salinity on yolk utilization and growth of larval striped bass (Morone soxatilis) from Canadian maritime stocks were studied to determine optimal rearing conditions. Larval length increased during yolk utilization and maximum length (Lmax) was attained at about 70 degree-days post-hatch. Dry weight declined during yolk utilization, whereas, larval wet weight was relatively constant and only declined when yolk was depleted. Temperature and salinity significantly affected the Lmax. Temperatures exceeding 18 C resulted in lower Lmax. Higher Lmax values were attained at 5 % than at 1 or 10 %. Time to reach Lmax was longer at 5 and 10 % than at 1 % for any experimental temperature. Time to reach Lmax was 3 days post-hatch longer than times to maximum embryo dry weight. The Q10 of yolk utilization was 1.71, 1.53 and 2.52 at 1, 5 and 10 %, respectively. Times to terminal yolk utilization were about 1.2 d shorter than times to Lmax. Morphological changes during yolk utilization indicated rapid development of locomotory and predatory capabilities. These and other developmental strategies were compared to those of salmonids. Rearing striped bass larvae at 14 -16C and 5 % throughout yolk utilization should result in longer larvae at initial first feeding. 相似文献

Embryonic development of common wolffish (Anarhichas lupus L.) was studied at constant temperatures 5.0, 7.0, 9.0, 11.0, 13.0 and 15.0°C. Duration of development from egg activation to several morphological stages including 50% hatching was determined. At 5.0–11.0°C, the survival rate of eggs to hatching ranged from 51 to 88% with a tendency to increase at 5.0 and 7.0°C. Morphological anomalies, bacterial contamination and large mortalities were observed in eggs incubated at 13.0 and 15.0°C. The period of hatching lasted from 10 to 50 d in different egg groups. Embryo length and yolk sac volume at identical morphological stages of development showed only slight relation to temperature. At lower temperatures newly hatched larvae were longer and at more advanced stages of ontogeny. Normal numbers of fin rays in larvae (mean values 74 for dorsal fin and 46 for anal fin) were observed at 5.0 and 7.0°C and in most larvae at 9.0°C. At 11.0 and 13.0°C, many rays were absent, with mean values for dorsal fin 60 and 39 respectively and for anal fin 28 and 4 respectively. The approximate upper limit for normal development of fin rays appeared to be 9.0 °C. 相似文献

The diel pattern of haematocrit, serum metabolites, electrolytes and thyroid hormones are described in sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax, and sea bream, Sparus auratus, held under 12L:12D light cycle (0600–1800 h light). No diel rhythmicity in haematocrit, total proteins, potassium and chloride was observed. Maximum values of glucose, osmotic pressure and sodium were recorded at dusk (1800 h) in both species, irrespective of differences in the size of fish and feeding regime used. Maximum and minimum triiodothyronine values were found during the scotophase in bass and during the photophase in bream. Maximum thyroxine levels occurred at 1400 h (bass) and 1800 h (bream) and minimum during the scotophase, in both species. The light/dark alternation seems to be an important synchronizer of the observed diel changes. Results are discussed in relation to the timing of feeding and the general activity of the fish. 相似文献

Juvenile sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) were fasted for 22 days and changes in plasma insulin, glucagon and glucose levels, as well as glycogen and protein content in liver and muscle were analyzed. Glucagon increased initially on the 4th day of fasting. The glucagon/insulin ratio (G/I) increased from a value of 0.11±0.02 (24h of fasting) to 0.21±0.05 (4th day of fasting). Thereafter, both glucagon and insulin levels decreased and remained at low concentrations until the 22nd day of fasting. Plasma glucose levels fell at the beginning of fasting, stabilized between the 4th and 8th day, and gradually declined during the rest of the experiment. There was a body weight loss of 15% and a significant decrease in both the hepatosomatic index and mesenteric fat. The decrease in the percentage of muscle proteins was not significant, while liver glycogen content showed a sharp decline. 相似文献
