The polymerization of glutenin polymers was monitored by measuring the Unextractable Polymeric Protein (UPP) at 3-day intervals after anthesis for four pairs of near-isogenic wheat lines. Two pairs, the variety Lance, differing at the Glu-D1 locus (HMW-GS 5+10 or 2+12) and the variety Halberd, differing at the Glu-B1 locus (HMW-GS 7+9 or 20x+20y) were grown in the field (2000) and twice in the greenhouse (2000 and 2001). Two other pairs, the varieties Warigal and Avocet, differing at the Glu-D1 locus (HMW-GS 5+10 or 2+12) were grown in the greenhouse in 2001. The behavior of all lines was consistent from greenhouse and field plantings in that the lines possessing strength-associated HMW-GS (5+10 at Glu-D1 and 7+9 at Glu-B1) showed an increase in accumulation of larger glutenin polymers (measured by UPP) at an earlier stage during grain filling than the lines with allelic counterparts (HMW-GS 2+12 at Glu-D1 and 20x+20y at Glu-B1). In all cases, the increases were maintained until maturity, paralleling the greater dough strength of flour from these lines, measured by mixograph dough development time.  相似文献

Partial waxy (reduced-amylose) and fully waxy (amylose-free) tetraploid durum wheats (Triticum turgidum L. var durum) were developed by introgression of null alleles at the Wx-A1 and Wx-B1 loci from common hexaploid wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Purified starches were obtained from each genotype, and chemically modified by: 1) cross-linking with phosphorus oxychloride, 2) substitution with propylene oxide, and 3) sequential cross-linking with phosphorus oxychloride followed by substitution with propylene oxide. Functional properties were compared to blends of waxy and wild-type durum starches of known amylose contents. Significant differences in functionality were observed amongst the genotypes and blends after each modification. Waxy (0% amylose) and wild-type (30% amylose) typically were at the extremes of the observed ranges of functional properties. In general, the functional properties of the chemically modified starches were dependent upon amylose content. Starches from Wx-B1 null lines (24% amylose), were an exception. After substitution, such starches had the significantly highest value for RVA final viscosity, and generally performed in a manner similar to starch blends of 12–18% amylose.  相似文献

Streptomyces sp. GET02.ST and Achromobacter sp. GET02.AC were isolated together from the gut of the wharf roach, Ligia exotica, inhabiting the intertidal zone of the west coast of Korea. The co-cultivation of these two strains significantly induced the production of two new metabolites, ligiamycins A (1) and B (2), which were barely detected in the single culture of Streptomyces sp. GET02.ST. The planar structures of ligiamycins A (1) and B (2) were elucidated as new decalins coupled with amino-maleimides by the analysis of various spectroscopic data, including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), ultraviolet (UV), and mass (MS) data. The assignment of two nitrogen atoms in amino-maleimide in 1 was accomplished based on 1H-15N heteroatom single quantum coherence spectroscopy (HSQC) NMR experiments. The relative configurations of the ligiamycins were determined using rotating frame Overhauser effect spectroscopy (ROESY) NMR data, and their absolute configurations were deduced by comparing their experimental and calculated optical rotations. Ligiamycin A (1) displayed antibacterial effects against Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella enterica, while ligiamycin B (2) exhibited mild cell cytotoxicity against human colorectal cancer cells.  相似文献

Sainfoin, Onobrychis viciifolia, Scop., is a perennial forage legume that was introduced into North America as an alternative to alfalfa, Medicago sativa L. Sainfoin does not cause bloating in livestock, is comparatively drought-resistant, and is not attacked by several economically important alfalfa insect pests. Plant survival in long-term sainfoin fields is reduced by root pathogens that invade through scars caused by root-feeding insects. Sitona scissifrons Say (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) weevils feed in sainfoin foliage and their larvae attack roots. Weevil populations were suppressed by application of carbofuran for two years in a newly established field. During the third year, there were fewer feeding scars and a lower incidence of tap-root disease in treated plots, indicating larval activity was associated with incidence of disease. In a seven-year trial near Bozeman, MT, alfalfa weevils. Hypera postica (Gyllenhal) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), and pea aphids, Acrythosiphon pisum (Harris) (Homoptera: Aphididae) attacked alfalfa but not sainfoin. Both crops were attacked by S. scissifrons, however, as well as by a complex group of plant bugs, including Lygus elisus VanDuzee, L. hesperus Knight, and Adelphocoris lineolatus (Geoze) (Hemiptera: Miridae). A seed-infesting insect, Bruchophagous spp. (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), was found in only sainfoin.  相似文献

Ericaria crinita and Ericaria amentacea from the Adriatic Sea (Croatia) were investigated with respect to the presence of less-polar compounds for the first time after fractionation by solid-phase extraction (SPE). The composition of less-polar fractions of freeze-dried E. crinita (FdEc) and E. amentacea (FdEa) were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography–high-resolution mass spectrometry with electrospray ionization (UHPLC-ESI-HRMS). The major identified compounds were: amides of higher aliphatic acids (palmitoleamide, linoleamide, palmitamide, oleamide and erucamide) and related compounds, carotenoid (fucoxanthin), chlorophyll derivatives (pheophytin a and b and their derivatives) and higher terpenes (loliolide, isoamijiol with its oxidation product), β-stigmasterol and (3β,6α)-14-methylergosta-8,24(28)-diene-3,6-diol). The toxic effects observed on the less-polar fractions obtained from Ericaria species on zebrafish Danio rerio embryos could be associated with the high abundance of all five detected amides. The antioxidant activity of the fractions was evaluated by means of five independent assays, including the reduction of the radical cation (ABTS), the oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC), ferric-reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) assay and the Folin–Ciocalteu method. A higher antioxidant activity of E. amentacea in comparison to that of the E. crinita fractions was found with IC50 concentrations of 0.072 and 1.177 mg/mL, respectively. The correlation between the activity and the chemical composition revealed that the synergistic effect of different compounds impacted their antioxidant response.  相似文献

To develop a simple and fast method for screening genetically modified ingredients from processing by-product and waste, direct quantitative PCR (qPCR) kit-Taqman which omitting multi genomic DNA preparing steps was developed in this study. A total of 18 oil crop processing by-products and wastes including 10 soybean and 8 cotton materials were collected from food processing factories. Compared with 2 commercial direct qPCR kits, conditions of DNA releasing procedure and PCR amplification were optimized. Element screening was performed at the initial step of genetically modified (GM) ingredient testing procedure via direct qPCR. GM event identification was carried out in positive samples by initial screening. Totally 5 screening elements (P–35S, T-NOS, Cp4-epsps, bar and pat) for soybean materials and 6 screening elements (P–35S, T-NOS, NPTII, Cry1Ac, bar and pat) for cotton samples were detected. In GM event identification, MON531 and MON1445 were found in cotton materials. Results were further confirmed by real-time PCR with DNA extraction and purification. The direct qPCR system proposed by this research was convenient for rapid screening and identification of GM ingredients in oil crop primary by-product and waste.  相似文献

This study presents a comparative analysis of halophiles from the global open sea and coastal biosystems through shotgun metagenomes (n = 209) retrieved from public repositories. The open sea was significantly enriched with Prochlorococcus and Candidatus pelagibacter. Meanwhile, coastal biosystems were dominated by Marinobacter and Alcanivorax. Halophilic archaea Haloarcula and Haloquandratum, predominant in the coastal biosystem, were significantly (p < 0.05) enriched in coastal biosystems compared to the open sea. Analysis of whole genomes (n = 23,540), retrieved from EzBioCloud, detected crtI in 64.66% of genomes, while cruF was observed in 1.69% Bacteria and 40.75% Archaea. We further confirmed the viability and carotenoid pigment production by pure culture isolation (n = 1351) of extreme halophiles from sediments (n = 410 × 3) sampling at the Arabian coastline of India. All red-pigmented isolates were represented exclusively by Haloferax, resistant to saturated NaCl (6 M), and had >60% G + C content. Multidrug resistance to tetracycline, gentamicin, ampicillin, and chloramphenicol were also observed. Our study showed that coastal biosystems could be more suited for bioprospection of halophiles rather than the open sea.  相似文献

Tomicus brevipilosus (Eggers) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae, Scolytinae) was recently discovered as a new pest of Yunnan pine (Pinus yunnanensis Franchet) in Yunnan Province in southwestern China. However, little was known on its reproductive biology and pattern of trunk attack on Yunnan pine. The objectives of this study were to better understand the reproductive biology of T. brevipilosus by investigating the seasonality of trunk attacks by parent adults for the purpose of reproduction (i.e., breeding attacks) and the within-tree pattern of these attacks. Our results showed that T. brevipilosus breeding attacks in P. yunnanensis generally started in early March and ended in early June in Anning County, Yunnan. T. brevipilosus exhibited two general patterns of infestation. From early March to mid-April, T. brevipilosus bred preferentially in the trunks of Yunnan pine trees that were already infested by Tomicus yunnanensis Kirkendall and Faccoli and Tomicus minor (Hartig), colonizing spaces along the trunk (mostly in the mid- and lower trunk) that were not already occupied by the other two Tomicus species. Later, from about mid-April to early June, when there were no Yunnan pine trees newly infested by T. yunnanensis and T. minor, T. brevipilosus attacked Yunnan pine by itself, infesting the lower parts of the trunk first and then infesting progressively upward along the trunk into the crown. Infestation by T. brevipilosus extends the total period that P. yunnanensis trees are under attack by Tomicus beetles in southwestern China, which helps explain why Yunnan pine has suffered high levels of tree mortality in recent decades.  相似文献

This study aimed to examine the benefits of different amounts of omega-3 (n-3) polyunsaturated fatty acids from fish oil (FO) on lipid metabolism, insulin resistance and gene expression in rats fed a high-fructose diet. Male Wistar rats were separated into two groups: Control (C, n = 6) and Fructose (Fr, n = 32), the latter receiving a diet containing 63% by weight fructose for 60 days. After this period, 24 animals from Fr group were allocated to three groups: FrFO2 (n = 8) receiving 63% fructose and 2% FO plus 5% soybean oil; FrFO5 (n = 8) receiving 63% fructose and 5% FO plus 2% soybean oil; and FrFO7 (n = 8) receiving 63% fructose and 7% FO. Animals were fed these diets for 30 days. Fructose led to an increase in liver weight, hepatic and serum triacylglycerol, serum alanine aminotransferase and HOMA1-IR index. These alterations were reversed by 5% and 7% FO. FO had a dose-dependent effect on expression of genes related to hepatic β-oxidation (increased) and hepatic lipogenesis (decreased). The group receiving the highest FO amount had increased markers of oxidative stress. It is concluded that n-3 fatty acids may be able to reverse the adverse metabolic effects induced by a high fructose diet.  相似文献

Surface-associated marine bacteria are an interesting source of new secondary metabolites. The aim of this study was the isolation and identification of epiphytic bacteria from the marine brown alga, Bifurcaria bifurcata, and the evaluation of the antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of bacteria extracts. The identification of epiphytic bacteria was determined by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Bacteria extracts were obtained with methanol and dichloromethane (1:1) extraction. The antioxidant activity of extracts was performed by quantification of total phenolic content (TPC), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity and oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC). Antimicrobial activities were evaluated against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, Salmonella enteritidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Candida albicans. A total of 39 Bifurcaria bifurcata-associated bacteria were isolated and 33 were identified as Vibrio sp. (48.72%), Alteromonas sp. (12.82%), Shewanella sp. (12.26%), Serratia sp. (2.56%), Citricoccus sp. (2.56%), Cellulophaga sp. (2.56%), Ruegeria sp. (2.56%) and Staphylococcus sp. (2.56%). Six (15.38%) of the 39 bacteria Bifurcaria bifurcata-associated bacteria presented less than a 90% Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) match, and some of those could be new. The highest antioxidant activity and antimicrobial activity (against B. subtilis) was exhibited by strain 16 (Shewanella sp.). Several strains also presented high antimicrobial activity against S. aureus, mainly belonging to Alteromonas sp. and Vibrio sp. There were no positive results against fungi and Gram-negative bacteria. Bifurcaria bifurcata epiphytic bacteria were revealed to be excellent sources of natural antioxidant and antimicrobial compounds.  相似文献

Bacterial quorum sensing (QS) and the corresponding signals, acyl homoserine lactones (AHLs), were first described for a luminescent Vibrio species. Since then, detailed knowledge has been gained on the functional level of QS; however, the abundance of AHLs in the family of Vibrionaceae in the environment has remained unclear. Three hundred and one Vibrionaceae strains were collected on a global research cruise and the prevalence and profile of AHL signals in this global collection were determined. AHLs were detected in 32 of the 301 strains using Agrobacterium tumefaciens and Chromobacterium violaceum reporter strains. Ethyl acetate extracts of the cultures were analysed by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry (MS) with automated tandem MS confirmation for AHLs. N-(3-hydroxy-hexanoyl) (OH-C6) and N-(3-hydroxy-decanoyl) (OH-C10) homoserine lactones were the most common AHLs found in 17 and 12 strains, respectively. Several strains produced a diversity of different AHLs, including N-heptanoyl (C7) HL. AHL-producing Vibrionaceae were found in polar, temperate and tropical waters. The AHL profiles correlated with strain phylogeny based on gene sequence homology, however not with geographical location. In conclusion, a wide range of AHL signals are produced by a number of clades in the Vibrionaceae family and these results will allow future investigations of inter- and intra-species interactions within this cosmopolitan family of marine bacteria.  相似文献

Two undescribed rearranged cadinane-type sesquiterpenoids (1–2), named sinulaketol A-B, together with one new chlorinated steroid (3), one new gorgosterol (4), one known sesquiterpene (5), one known dibromoditerpene (6) and two known polyhydroxylated steroids (7–8) were isolated from the soft coral Sinularia brassica. The structures of these compounds were established by extensive spectroscopic analysis, including HRESIMS, 1D, and 2D NMR spectroscopy. Their absolute configurations were also determined by the ECD calculations and DP4+ probability analysis. Antileishmanial activity of compounds 1–8 was evaluated in vitro against the amastigote forms of Leishmania donovani, in which compounds 3, 6, and 7 inhibited the growth of L. donovani by 58.7, 74.3, 54.7%, respectively, at a concentration of 50 μM. Antimicrobial effect of the isolated compounds were also evaluated against Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli. Compound 6, a brominated diterpene, exhibited antimicrobial effect against S. aureus.  相似文献

Dragonfly larvae were sampled in Little Creek, Greenville, SC. The distributions of five common species were described relative to sediment type, body size, and the presence of other larvae. In total, 337 quadrats (1 m by 0.5 m) were sampled by kick seine. For each quadrat, the substrate was classified as sand, sand-cobble mix, cobble, coarse, or rock, and water depth and distance from bank were measured. Larvae were identified to species, and the lengths of the body, head, and metafemur were measured. Species were distributed differently across sediment types: sanddragons, Progomphus obscurus (Rambur) (Odonata: Gomphidae), were common in sand; twin-spotted spiketails, Cordulegaster maculata Selys (Odonata: Cordulegastridae), preferred a sand-cobble mix; Maine snaketails, Ophiogomphus mainensis Packard (Odonata: Gomphidae), preferred cobble and coarse sediments; fawn darners, Boyeria vinosa (Say) (Odonata: Aeshnidae), preferred coarse sediments; and Eastern least clubtails, Stylogomphus albistylus (Hagen) (Odonata: Gomphidae), preferred coarse and rock sediments. P. obscurus and C. maculata co-occurred more frequently than expected by chance, as did O. mainensis, B. vinosa, and S. albistylus. Mean size varied among species, and species preferences contributed to differences in mean size across sediment types. There were significant negative associations among larval size classes: small larvae (<12 mm) occurred less frequently with large larvae (>15 mm) than expected by chance, and large larvae were alone in quadrats more frequently than other size classes. Species may select habitats at a large scale based on sediment type and their functional morphology, but small scale distributions are consistent with competitive displacement or intraguild predation.  相似文献

To study the kinetics of the bread baking process, transverse relaxation (T2) of protons was measured during a baking process performed inside the magnet of a pulsed low field1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) instrument. Experimental NMR relaxation data were analysed both by chemometric data analysis and by multi-exponential curve-fitting. Throughout the entire baking process from dough to bread three T2-components were determined. During the NMR-baking process significant shifts were observed in the characteristic time constants at c. 55 °C (gelatinisation of starch) and at c. 85 °C. In a second experiment staling of white bread crumb aged 0–8 days was investigated by texture analysis and NMR relaxation. High correlations (r>0·9) between texture parameters and NMR relaxation data of bread crumb were found by partial least squares regression (PLSR) models. Firmness and elasticity as measured by a Texture Analyser were predicted with an estimated error (RMSECV) of 150 (range 200–2200) and 0·032 (range 0·4–0·7), respectively. Future texture of the bread samples was also predictable by use of NMR relaxation data from the early storage period (day 0 to day 3).  相似文献

The chemical compositions of essential oil, concrete, absolute from the capitula of Tagetes patula (family Asteraceae) were analysed by GC-FID and GC/MS. The major compounds identified were (Z)-β-ocimene, (E)-β-ocimene, terpinolene, (Z)-ocimenone, (E)-ocimenone and δ-elemene. In addition, the volatiles of live and plucked capitula (flowers) were analysed by SPME technique using PDMS/DVB/CAR fiber. The SPME-GC-FID analyses of live capitula showed that the volatiles were rich in monoterpenoids in comparison to the plucked capitula. On the other hand, the plucked capitula recorded with significant increase in sesquiterpenoids in comparison to the living capitula.  相似文献

The control of mosquito populations using insecticides is increasingly threatened by the spread of resistance mechanisms. Dieldrin resistance, conferred by point mutations in the Rdl gene encoding the γ-aminobutyric acid receptor, has been reported at high prevalence in mosquito populations in response to selective pressures. In this study, we monitored spatio-temporal dynamics of the resistance-conferring RdlR allele in Aedes (Stegomyia) albopictus (Skuse, 1895) and Culex (Culex) quinquefasciatus (Say, 1823) populations from Reunion Island. Specimens of both mosquito species were sampled over a 12-month period in three cities and in sites located at lower (<61 m) and higher (between 503 and 564 m) altitudes. Mosquitoes were genotyped using a molecular test detecting the alanine to serine substitution (A302S) in the Rdl gene. Overall, the RdlR frequencies were higher in Cx. quinquefasciatus than Ae. albopictus. For both mosquito species, the RdlR frequencies were significantly influenced by location and altitude with higher RdlR frequencies in the most urbanized areas and at lower altitudes. This study highlights environmental factors that influence the dynamics of insecticide resistance genes, which is critical for the management of insecticide resistance and the implementation of alternative and efficient vector control strategies.  相似文献

Crop yield has to increase to meet the expanding demand for food, feed and bio-energy, caused by world population growth and increasing wealth. Raising sugar yield is also the key to sustaining the profitability of the sugar beet crop. This paper describes the factors that impacted on yield differences between 26 ‘top’ and 26 ‘average’ growers based on four years yield data (2000-2004). In 2006 and 2007, the top growers had 20% higher sugar yields compared to their neighbouring average growers. Heterodera schachtii and Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV) were mainly found on clay soils. Top growers on clay soil had significantly lower infestation levels of H. schachtii (4.4x lower, P = 0.008), BNYVV (2.7x lower, P = 0.016) and other foliar symptoms (Pseudomonas, Phoma betae and Verticillium spp. combined) (1.5x lower, P < 0.001), than the average growers, respectively. On sandy soils, infestation levels of Meloidogyne spp. (P = 0.016), Cercospora beticola (P = 0.005) and Erysiphe betae (P = 0.027) were significantly lower (5x, 1.4x and 1.8x, respectively) for the top growers. The top growers on clay or sand sowed 5 and 6 days earlier respectively, and made more fungicide applications and thus used more fungicides than the average growers. Insect pests were not observed at levels damaging for sugar yield: Insecticidal seed treatments provided sufficient control of insect pests. In multiple regression, 35% of the variance in sugar yield on clay soils was explained by H. schachtii and BNYVV infestation levels and by sowing date. On sandy soils, the infestation levels of Heterodera betae and Aphanomyces cochlioides, number of fungicide applications and sowing date explained 71% of the variance in sugar yield. Despite crop protection measures, the calculated yield losses due to pests and diseases for the top growers were 30.2 and 13.1% and for average growers were 37.1 and 16.7% on sandy and clay soils, respectively. Therefore, pest and disease infestation levels partly explained the differences in sugar yield between top and average growers analysed. The skills and knowledge of the grower are important to reducing damage by pests and diseases. Communication of knowledge, obtained by research, towards growers is vital for the long-term raising of yield and increasing of productivity in sugar beet, as well as in other crops.  相似文献

Environmentally friendly green composites were prepared by conventional blending wheat gluten (WG) as matrix, methylcellulose (MC) microfibers as filler and glycerol as plasticizer followed by compression molding of the mixture at 127 °C to crosslink the matrix. Morphology, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), tensile properties (Young’s modulus E, tensile strength σb and elongation at break ?b), and moisture absorption (MA) and weight loss (WL) in water as well as thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) were evaluated in relation to MC content. It was found that addition of MC microfibers can significantly improve E and σb of the composite, which is accompanied by rises in glass transition temperatures of the WG matrix. Influences of MC content on the thermal decomposition and gluten solubility (GS) in water are also discussed.  相似文献

Relatively homogeneous early successional habitats develop after clearcutting and wildfire that voles of the genera Microtus and Myodes may colonize and generate population fluctuations. In these habitats, vole populations may reach pest status by their feeding on newly planted tree seedlings. Strategic management of excess woody debris into piles and windrows helps diversify new clearcuts by enhancing populations of forest-floor small mammals, including voles, and some of their predators.This study tested the hypotheses (H) that (H1) abundance of voles and incidence of feeding damage to tree seedlings will be higher in windrow than dispersed (conventional) sites of woody debris, and (H2) there will be a gradient of damage with the highest incidence immediately adjacent to windrows. A third hypothesis (H3) predicts that feeding damage to trees will increase in relation to windrow size. Microtus voles and red-backed voles (Myodes gapperi) were live-trapped for three years (2010–2012) in replicated sites with woody debris dispersed and in windrows at three study areas in the southern interior of British Columbia, Canada. Incidence of feeding damage and mortality to tree seedlings by voles was measured in all sites. Mean abundance of M. gapperi, Microtus, and total voles were all significantly (P ≤ 0.04) higher (up to 3.4 times) in windrow than dispersed sites, and hence the abundance part of H1 was supported. Mean annual percentage of trees damaged by voles was significantly (P ≤ 0.03) higher in windrow than dispersed sites over the two winters and for cumulative incidence of damage, and hence the tree damage part of H1 was supported. Mortality of trees followed this pattern but was not formally significant. Trees planted immediately adjacent to a windrow had significantly (P < 0.01) greater feeding damage than seedlings planted further away, and hence H2 was supported. There were significant linear relationships between mean percentage of trees killed (r = 0.67; P < 0.01) and mean number of total voles, and also with mean volume of woody debris per meter length of windrow (r = 0.98; P < 0.01). Thus, H3 was also supported. To minimize overall mortality of trees, it is likely worthwhile to not plant trees near windrows. Slightly reduced stocking (<5% net forest area) and potential loss of some trees to voles need to be balanced alongside biodiversity and conservation considerations provided by woody debris structures.  相似文献

Silver scurf, caused by Helminthosporium solani, and black dot, caused by Colletotrichum coccodes, cause tuber blemishes on potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) which affect processing and fresh market trade. Tubers from ten cultivars were collected at harvest from three organic farms in Wisconsin and categorized as symptomatic or asymptomatic based on visual symptoms of silver scurf and black dot and/or signs of H. solani and C. coccodes. Tuber incubation and PCR assays were performed on asymptomatic tubers to detect H. solani and C. coccodes. Tuber incubation and PCR assays were in slight to fair agreement (kappa coefficient <0.4) for detecting both pathogens. Most asymptomatic tubers tested were positive by one or both assays for H. solani (75 %) or C. coccodes (94 %). Minituber inoculation assays were also performed to screen potato lines for resistance to silver scurf. Of the 14 lines tested, a diploid interspecific hybrid, C287, had consistently low sporulation, suggesting it has partial resistance to silver scurf. Since the majority of tubers harvested are already infected with one or both pathogens further research should focus on organically acceptable management practices that may inhibit disease development in field and in storage.  相似文献
