The first step for rearing the newly produced hybrid of Asp, Leuciscus aspius ♀, × Caspian Kutum, Rutilus frisii ♂ (so‐called “Aspikutum”) is to understand essential production requirements such as stocking density. For this purpose, fish (60.4 g) were held at five stocking densities of 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 kg/m3 in circular concrete tanks (603 L) for a period of 56 d. The culture system was maintained at natural temperature and photoperiod. Fish were fed thrice a day using a commercial diet. At the end of the trial, growth indices, including final mean weight, weight gain, and specific growth rate, were significantly higher at the density of 10 kg/m3 compared with 2 kg/m3 (P< 0.05). Feed intake was significantly greater at 10 kg/m3 compared with 2 kg/m3 (P< 0.05); however, feed efficiency, protein efficiency ratio, protein productive value, and hepatosomatic index remained unchanged among the stocking densities (P> 0.05). Increased stocking density caused significant increase in body protein and fat contents (P< 0.05). Condition factor in higher densities (8 and 10 kg/m3) was significantly higher compared with 2 kg/m3 (P< 0.05). The results indicated that rearing this hybrid in the studied weight range at high density of 10 kg/m3 or more is possible without negative impacts on growth performance and body composition.  相似文献

The influence of three different initial stocking densities (low stocking density [LSD] = 1.5 kg/m2; medium stocking density [MSD] = 3 kg/m2; and high stocking density [HSD] = 6 kg/m2) in flow‐through systems was evaluated on growth and welfare in beluga, Huso huso, and ship sturgeon, Acipenser nudiventris, juveniles for 2 mo. Fish were kept in 18 concrete square tanks (2.0 × 1.0 × 1.2 m3) at 22.3 ± 0.4 C and under a natural photoperiod. In both species, the growth performance in terms of final body weight, weight gain, specific growth rate, and feed intake significantly decreased with increasing stocking density (P < 0.05). In both species, the percent of neutrophils increased after 60 d of trial (P < 0.05). Moreover, hematocrit and white blood cell counts increased after 60 d of trial in ship sturgeon (P < 0.05). Plasma immunoglobulin significantly decreased with increasing stocking density in both species. Plasma insulin‐like growth factor I decreased with increasing stocking density in beluga; however, it was not affected in ship sturgeon. Overall, these results showed that the LSD group in both species demonstrated more homogeneous and higher growth rate than the MSD and HSD groups.  相似文献

Rainbow trout were studied at different rearing densities, fish sizes and feeding frequencies so that we could evaluate the effect of these parameters on fin condition, growth and feed utilisation. In one study, two sizes of rainbow trout (18–70 g or 48–125 g), fed to near satiation at 17.7°C, were examined at two rearing densities (11–41 kg m−3 or 21–92 kg m−3). This study showed that the anal fin was healthier (P < 0.05) at low densities. In the second study rainbow trout were again fed to near satiation and grown from 50 g to 125 g in 16.4°C water, and they were fed either once daily or three times daily at two densities (18–45 kg m−3 or 54–124 kg m−3). Rainbow trout growth and feed utilisation were slightly but significantly (P < 0.05) reduced at high densities, while dorsal fin condition, surprisingly, was better (P < 0.0001) at the high densities. Possible explanations to these findings are discussed. Condition of the left pectoral fin was improved at once daily feeding (P < 0.05) compared with three feedings per day, at which fights for feed possibly are more frequent.  相似文献

The effect of four stocking densities (30, 60, 100, and 150 lobsters/m2) on the growth and survival of Panulirus cygnus postpueruli was determined over a 112‐d grow‐out trial. Agonistic behavior at each experimental density was recorded using infrared filming. Survival and growth decreased with increasing density, although this trend was only significant between the lowest (30/m2) and the highest densities (150/m2) (P < 0.05) at the conclusion of the grow‐out trial. Density had no significant effect on apparent feed intake but significantly affected food conversion ratios (FCR) across all four densities, with FCR being best at 30/m2 and worst at 150/m2. The number and frequency of agonistic encounters per tank differed significantly with density, with agonistic encounters being highest at 150/m2 and lowest at 30/m2. Agonistic encounters coincided with the crepuscular foraging pattern of postpueruli. The reduction in survival and growth of postpueruli at the highest density (150/m2) can be attributed to the significant increase in the number of agonistic encounters. This study supports that P. cygnus postpueruli should be stocked at densities less than 100/m2 in order to minimize the negative effect of density on growth and survival.  相似文献

The present on-farm study assessed the effect of different stocking densities on growth, production, and financial benefits of African sharptooth catfish (Clarias gariepinus) in earthen ponds for 180 days. Low stocking density (LSD), medium stocking density (MSD), and high stocking density (HSD) of 3, 6, and 9 fish m?2, respectively, were tested. C. gariepinus stocked at LSD and MSD showed significantly higher weight gain, specific growth rate, and final mean weight than those cultured at HSD (P < .05). There was a significant linear relationship between the stocking density and the yields and financial variables (P < .05). Net fish yields were significantly higher for C. gariepinus reared at HSD and MSD than those stocked at LSD (P < .05). Similarly, C. gariepinus raised at MSD and HSD generated significantly more profit than those cultured at LSD (P < .05). Results demonstrated that farmers can achieve high net yield and financial benefits by stocking C. gariepinus at HSD of 9 fish m?2.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Catla, Catla catla, and rohu, Labeo rohita, fry were cultured at 6,667,8,333, and 10,000/m3 in 15-L aquaria in recirculating systems for 30 days. Larvae were fed with exogenous live plankton. Cultures at 6,667 and 8,333 larvae/m3 showed significantly (P <0.05) higher survival and growth than larvae stocked at 10,000 larvae/m3 for both species. Food was more efficiently used in low stocking density, as evident from the significantly (P <0.05) lower values of feed conversion ratio in lower density compared to those for high stocking density. Specific growth rate of both species was high in the early stage and gradually declined along with the ontogenic development. Dissolved oxygen level was higher in the low density system than in the high density one. Values of phosphate and COD increased during the experiment. Ammonia, nitrite, phosphate, and COD levels were significantly (P <0.05) higher in the 10,000 larvae/m3 density system than in the other two systems for both species. Considering the survival and growth of fish and values of water quality parameters, it appears that stocking density can be raised up to 8,333 larvae/m3 with a recirculating system for both catla and rohu.  相似文献

Twelve, 400‐m2 earthen ponds at Walailak University, Thailand, were used to investigate the effects of fertilizer application rates on water quality, bottom soil, and production of giant gourami, Osphronemus goramy. Fertilizer rates of 0, 6, 9, and 12 kg N plus 0, 3, 4.5, and 6 kg P2O5 /ha (N:P2O5 = 2:1) applied at 3‐wk intervals were replicated three times in a completely randomized design. Ammonium phosphate and ammonium sulfate were sources of nitrogen and phosphorus. Fish averaged 8.8 g and were stocked at 1 fish/m2. The highest final weight, growth rate, and net production of giant gourami were achieved with 9 kg N plus 4.5 kg P2O5/ha. Chlorophyll a concentration was correlated with total nitrogen concentration (R2 = 0.574; P < 0.05) and total phosphorus concentration (R2 = 0.600, P < 0.05). Fish production and chlorophyll a concentration were also correlated (0.826; P < 0.05). Chlorophyll a concentration and fish production declined at total hardness concentrations above about 50 mg/L – likely from precipitation of fertilizer phosphorus as calcium phosphate. Pond bottom soil properties did not change in relationship to fertilizer rate.  相似文献

This study aimed to assess the effects of stocking density on the growth, antioxidant status, and physiological response of juvenile turbot. Turbot (average initial weight 70.0 ± 5 g) were reared at three different initial densities (low density [LD], 5.13 ± 0.03 kg/m2; medium density [MD], 7.71 ± 0.11 kg/m2; and high density [HD], 10.8 ± 0.12 kg/m2) for 80 d. At the end of this trial, the final densities were 13.2 ± 0.10, 19.9 ± 0.15, and 25.7 ± 0.12 kg/m2 in the LD, MD, and HD groups, respectively. The growth performances were adversely influenced by a high stocking density. Levels of cortisol, glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride, glutamate pyruvate transaminase, and glutamate oxalate transaminase in the plasma significantly increased in HD treatment. Results of oxidative stress analyses showed that there was a clear decrease in superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, catalase, glutathione, and total antioxidant capacity, and an obvious increase in malondialdehyde in plasma and/or liver of turbot reared in HD group (P < 0.05). Overall, the results indicated that increasing stocking density reduced the growth performance, modulated the physiological response, and induced oxidative stress in turbot.  相似文献

Growout production of the camouflage grouper, Epinephelus polyphekadion (Bleeker), in a 10-m3-capacity fibreglass tank culture system was evaluated, using hatchery-produced fingerlings (56-59 g initial weight) at stocking densities of five, 15 and 45 fish m?3. During the first 9 months of a 12-month growout period, the fish were fed twice a day with a moist pellet feed containing 40.9% protein. From month 10 onwards until harvest, the fish were fed moist pellets in the morning and trash fish in the evening at a 1:1 ratio. The final weight of fish at harvest was up to 900 g, with mean weights of 544.6 ± 170.72 g at five fish m?3, 540.2 ± 150.82 g at 15 fish m-?3 and 513.3 ± 134.52 g at 45 fish m?3. The results showed no significant differences (P > 0.05) in growth rate and fish size between the different stocking densities tested. The average daily growth rate ranged from 0.62 to 3.38 g fish?1 day?1, with mean weights of 1.49 ± 0.74 g fish?1 day?1 at five fish m?3 through 0.53 to 2.38 g fish?1 day?1, 1.32 ± 0.57 g fish?1 day?1 at 15 fish m?3 to 0.48-3.32 g fish?1 day?1 and 1.31 g fish?1 day?1 at 45 fish m?3 stocking density. Although up to 100% survival was observed at the lowest stocking density, the survival rate significantly decreased (P < 0.05) with increasing stocking density. The food conversion ratio (FCR) significantly decreased (P <0.05) with increasing stocking densities, showing efficient feed utilization with increasing stocking densities of E. polyphekadion. The FCR averaged 2.1 at a stocking density of 45 fish m?3. The yield in terms of kg fish produced m?3 of water used in the culture system significantly increased (P < 0.001) from five to 45 fish m?3. The yield averaged 17.3 ±0.53 kg m?3 at a stocking density of 45 fish m?3. The present results show that the present tank culture system could sustain more biomass in terms of increasing fish stocking densities. The growth performance of E. polyphekadion observed during this investigation has been reviewed with other grouper species.  相似文献

Effects of harvesting methods (cull and batch) on population structure, growth, and yield of freshwater prawn, Macrobrachiurn rosenbergii, cultured at two densities (5/m2 and 10/m2) were evaluated. Females (67.4%) were more abundant than males (32.6%), but there was no effect of harvesting methods and stocking rates on sex ratio (P > 0.05). Mean survival rates ranged from 78.3 to 92.6%, being highest at a stocking density of 10/m2 and cull-harvested (P < 0.05), but were not different (P > 0.05) among three other treatments. After 196 days of culture, mean weights ranged from 25.3 to 29.9 g and were not significantly different from each other (P > 0.05). Mean weight of males was not hi her than that of f females (P > 0.05), except in one treatment (5/m2 , batch harvest) where males were heavier (P < 0.05). Maximum specific growth rate (SGR) was recorded for prawns cultured at a density of 5/m2 and cull-harvested (0.66%/day), followed by prawns at 10/m2 and cull-harvested (0.58%/day). Minimum SGR was found for prawns cultured at 10/m2 density and balch-harvested (0.43%/day). Maximum yield (2366 kg/ha and 2099 kg/ha) was recorded at the higher density (P < 0.05). Harvesting method had no effect on yield at any density (P > 0.05).  相似文献

We evaluated the effect of varying cage stocking density (60, 90 and 120 fish m?3) and feeding duration (10, 30 and 60 min) in a cage‐cum‐pond‐integrated system on growth performance, water quality and economic benefits in Labeo victorianus culture. Interactions between stocking density and feeding duration significantly (< 0.05) affected the fish growth performance and yields in the cages‐cum‐pond system. Stocking density of 60 fish m?3 resulted in the highest growth in cages and in ponds regardless of the feeding duration, but produced lower yields than at stocking density 90 fish m?3. The lowest Apparent Food Conversion Ratio (AFCR) in cages occurred at stocking density of 60 fish m?3 and feeding duration of 30 min. Growth performance in the open ponds declined with increased feeding duration of the caged fish. Survival in cages and in the open ponds decreased with increased cage density, but was not affected by feeding duration. Low dissolved oxygen were recorded, at stocking density of 120 fish m?3, the lowest DO occurred when feeding of caged fish lasted 60 min. Growth performance, water quality and economic benefits in Labeo victorianus culture positively respond to interaction between stocking density and feeding durations.  相似文献

This study investigated the effects of dietary phosphatidylcholine (PC) at different growth stages of Litopenaeus vannamei (L. vannamei) with an initial weight of 0.70 ± 0.00 g (juvenile) and 4.25 ± 0.00 g (subadult) for 8 weeks. Six isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets containing PC (0, 1.7, 5.1, 6.8, 10.2 and 13.6 g/kg) were confected using formulated with redfish meal, dehulled soybean meal and peanut meal as protein source, fish oil and corn oil as fat source. The juveniles were reared in 0.3 m3 aquarium at the density of 40 in triplicates, as well as the subadults in 0.5 m3 at the density of 40 in triplicates. Results showed PC level had significant effects on weight gain rate (WGR), specific growth rate, feed conversion ratio in juvenile and subadult shrimps and hepatosomatic index in juvenile shrimps (< 0.05). No significant differences were found in moisture, whole body protein and crude ash (> 0.05). Crude fat of juveniles had no significant change (> 0.05), but subadults increased significantly (< 0.05). Both juveniles and subadults showed that triglyceride and low‐density lipoprotein presented a downward trend with PC elevating, but high‐density lipoprotein increased gradually. Cholesterol in juveniles presented upward, but downward in subadults (p < 0.05). Dietary PC also significantly reduced the aspartate transaminase in juveniles and alanine transaminase in subadults (< 0.05). PC supplementation significantly improved the glutathione S‐transferase activity and reduced the content of malondialdehyde in the hepatopancreas (< 0.05). PC supplementation significantly improved gill filament sodium‐potassium adenosine triphosphatase enzyme of juvenile shrimps (< 0.05), but subadult shrimps were not influenced (> 0.05). PC supplementation significantly elevated the content of hepatopancreas eicosapentaenoic acid, highly unsaturated fatty acid (HUFA) and n‐3HUFA (< 0.05), but the content of linoleic acid significantly reduced (< 0.05). The broken‐line and quadratic regression model based on WGR showed the optimum dietary PC requirement was 10.3 g/kg and 6.5 g/kg for juveniles and subadults, respectively.  相似文献

The present study was conducted to determine the optimum stocking density of Horabagrus brachysoma fry during fingerling production in the hatchery. For this purpose, four density levels (400, 800, 1200 and 1600 fry/0.6 m3) were considered. The experiment of fry rearing continued for a period of six weeks. The total length and wet weight of fry were significantly highest (P < 0.05) at 400 fry/0.6 m3 density compared to the other three density treatments during the entire rearing period. At harvesting, the length and weight of fry stocked at 1200 and 1600 numbers/0.6 m3 were similar to each other, and both were significantly lower (P < 0.05) than those of fish stocked at 800/0.6 m3. The decreased SGR, percent weight gain, and survival were also observed at the two highest density treatments. But the total biomass was observed to be highest (P < 0.05) at 1600/0.6 m3 density compared to those of the other three densities. If individual size and number of individuals for stocking are not constraints, the maximum number of surviving fry from a minimum rearing space was achieved at a stocking density of 1600 fry/0.6 m3 tank.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate effects of dietary geniposide (GP) on growth performance, flesh quality, and lipid metabolism of grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idella (95.2 ± 0.6 g), fed seven different diets, including a control diet; Eucommia ulmoides (EU)–supplemented diet (20 g/kg); and GP‐supplemented diets containing 100, 200, 400, 600, and 800 mg/kg GP, respectively. Weight gain rate was significantly improved (P < 0.05) and feed conversation ratio was significantly decreased (P < 0.05) by supplementation of EU. Grass carp fed 100–800 mg/kg GP‐supplemented diets showed significantly higher total collagen and alkaline‐insoluble collagen content in muscle than control (P < 0.05). Contents of total collagen and the alkaline‐insoluble collagen content in the skin of grass carp were significantly increased by dietary 600–800 mg/kg GP and EU (P < 0.05). Fish fed diets containing 600–800 mg/kg GP showed significantly lower muscle crude lipid content than the EU, control, and 100–400 mg/kg GP groups (P < 0.05). Fish fed 400–800 mg/kg GP diets had significantly higher muscle fiber density and lower muscle fiber diameter and serum triglyceride level than the control (P < 0.05). In conclusion, supplementation of GP could improve flesh quality, but not growth of grass carp. The supplemental level of GP for improving flesh quality was estimated to be a 400–600 mg/kg diet.  相似文献

A 74-day growth trial was carried out to investigate the effects of light intensity on the juvenile Chinese mitten crab, Eriocheir sinensis, under semi-natural conditions. The experiment had three light intensity treatment groups, natural light (NL), middle light (ML), and low light (LL), as light intensity became weaker. The results indicated that light intensity had no significant effect on molting interval and molting frequency but did have a significant effect on the molting weight gain of the crab. Molting weight gain in group NL was significantly higher than that in group LL (P < 0.05). Specific growth rate in weight (SGRw) and in carapace width (SGRcw), weight gain, and final body weight were significantly affected by light intensity (P < 0.05). No significant difference was detected in survival between groups (P > 0.05). The precocious rate in groups NL, ML, and LL was 26.14, 15.48, and 17.14%, respectively. The precocious rate in group NL was significantly higher than that in groups ML and LL (P < 0.05). Chemical composition of the crab body was significantly affected by light intensity, but the activity of alkaline phosphatase, trypsin, and pancreatic lipase was not significantly affected by light intensity. The results indicated that the submitted light intensity was useful in reducing the precocious rate without affecting the normal growth of juvenile E. sinensis.  相似文献

Glycyrrhetinic acid (GA), the main active constituent of Glycyrrhiza glabra roots, is extensively used as food additives and herbal medicines. This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of different dietary levels of GA on growth and body composition of channel catfish (average weight, 1.10 ± 0.02 g). Eight diets were formulated to contain two levels of lipid (6.0 and 8.0%), and four levels of GA (0, 0.3, 0.6, and 0.9 g/kg). The experiments lasted for 60 d. Results showed that weight gain tended to decrease as dietary GA levels increased (P > 0.05) with the lowest found in fish fed 0.9 g/kg dietary GA (P < 0.05). Feed intake increased significantly as dietary GA concentrations increased up to 0.6 g/kg (P < 0.05) and viscera/body ratio, condition factor, hepatosomatic index, and intraperitoneal fat ratio decreased significantly as GA concentration increased (P < 0.05). Lipid content of whole body, viscera, and liver decreased significantly (P < 0.01) as dietary GA increased, whereas moisture content showed an opposite trend. The cortisol in fish fed 0.3 and 0.6 g/kg GA was not significantly higher than that of fish without GA supplementation, but glucose in the former two groups was higher (P < 0.05). Results of this study indicate 0.3 and 0.6 g/kg GA had a positive influence in reducing body lipid and IFR deposition in channel catfish without significant side effects on growth. The beneficial effect may be due to extending endogenous cortisol half‐life and increasing the duration of action.  相似文献

Two consecutive experiments were conducted to study the effects of stocking density on growth, food utilization, production and farming profitability of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fingerlings (initial mean weight: 16.2 ± 0.2 g) fed Azolla, as a main component in diet. In experiment 1, fish were hand‐fed twice daily with three isonitrogenous (28.5% crude protein) and isocaloric (14.5 kJ g−1) diets A30, A35 and A40 containing 30%, 35% and 40%Azolla, respectively, for 90 days. Diets were formulated by mixing Azolla with locally available by‐products. No significant differences were found in growth parameters and production (P>0.05). Total investment cost was significantly higher with A30 (P<0.05), but same profitability values were obtained with all diets (P>0.05). In experiment 2, three stocking densities, 1, 3 and 5 m−2, were assigned to three treatments T1, T2 and T3 respectively. Fish were hand‐fed twice daily with diet A40. The final mean weight (89.53–115.12 g), the mean weight gain (0.81–1.10 g day−1), the specific growth rate (1.90–2.20% day−1) and the apparent food conversion ratio (1.29–1.58) were affected by stocking density, with significant difference (P<0.05) at 5 m−2, compared with the other densities. Stocking density did not affect survival rate (P>0.05). Yield and annual production increased with increasing stocking density, ranging from 7.10 ± 0.90 to 25.01 ± 1.84 kg are−1 and 28.79 ± 3.66 to 101.42 ± 7.48 kg are−1 year−1, respectively, with significant differences between all densities (P<0.05). Higher stocking density resulted in higher gross return and lower cost of fish production, with significant variations (P<0.05). The net return increased with increasing stocking density (P<0.05). However, both densities of 3 and 5 m−2 produced the same profitability values. On the basis of growth values and economic return, it was concluded that Nile tilapia could be raised at a density of 3 fish m−2 with A40 to improve production and generate profit for nutritional security and poverty alleviation in rural areas.  相似文献

To determine the optimal stocking density, three densities of 5 (SD5), 10 (SD10), and 15 kg/m3 (SD15) were used to culture striped knifejaw, Oplegnathus fasciatus, for 10 wk. A total of 10, 20, or 30 juveniles with mean weights of approximately 96 g were stocked into one of nine 300‐L tanks (with an initial water volume of 200 L) and fed with commercial feed via self‐feeders. The fish were sampled at 4 and 8 wk, and the stocking density was maintained by adjusting the water volume of the tanks. The final body weights in SD10 and SD15 were 183.8 and 178.9 g, respectively, which were significantly higher than 161.7 g in SD5 (P< 0.05). However, there was no significant difference between the SD10 and SD15 (P > 0.05). A similar trend was observed in the specific growth rate among the treatments. Feed efficiency and the lipid retention efficiency were both significantly higher in SD10 than that in SD5. The plasma levels of cortisol, glucose, and total protein were similar among the treatments. These results clearly suggest that densities of 10 and 15 kg/m3 can be used to improve the growth performance of striped knifejaw, O. fasciatus, when fed with a self‐feeder.  相似文献

A 10 week laboratory growth trial was conducted with red swamp crawfish Procambarus clarkii to determine the amount of soybean protein that could be substituted for fish protein in formulated crawfish diets without reducing growth. Crawfish received 32% crude protein, isocaloric diets in which protein was supplied by soybean (soy) meal, menhaden fish meal or an isonitrogenous mixture of soybean and fish meal calculated to provide graded levels of each protein source. Dietary protein was provided as: 1) 100% soy protein; 2) 75% soy protein: 25% fish protein; 3) 50% soy protein: 50% fish protein; 4) 25% soy protein: 75% fish protein; and 5) 100% fish protein. Crawfish fed soy protein: fish protein (SP:FP) mixtures or fish protein alone exhibited better (P < 0.05) weight gain than crawfish fed a diet containing soy protein as the only protein source. Diets containing 25% soy protein: 75% fish protein (1:3 ratio) and 50% soy protein: 50% fish protein (1:1 ratio) produced greater (P < 0.05) weight gains than a diet in which fish protein was the sole protein source. Survival, feed efficiency ratio, maturation rate, net protein and energy retention, and body composition of crawfish did not differ (P > 0.05) among diets with SP:FP ratios of 1:3, 1:1 and 3:1. However, maximum (P < 0.05) weight gain occurred in crawfish fed the 1:3 SP:FP ratio. Although crawfish fed SP:FP ratios of 1:1 and 3:1 had lower weight gains in the laboratory than crawfish fed a 1:3 SP:FP ratio, SP:FP ratios of 1:1 and 3:1 might be adequate for supplemental diets fed to pond-reared crawfish that have access to natural sources of food.  相似文献

An 80‐d feeding trial was conducted to evaluate meat and bone meal (MBM) as replacement of protein concentrate (PC) in practical diets for sutchi catfish, Pangasius hypophthalmus. Triplicate groups of juvenile sutchi catfish (initial weight 4.80 g) were stocked at the rate of 20,000 fish/ha in 12 earthen ponds (30 m2 each). Four isocaloric diets (4.12 kcal/g) were formulated by replacing 0 (Diet 1, control), 33 (Diet 2), 67 (Diet 3), and 100% (Diet 4) PC protein with MBM. The growth parameters [final weight, % weight gain, and specific growth rate (SGR)] of fish fed Diets 1, 2, and 3 were not significantly different (P > 0.05) from each other but were significantly (P < 0.05) higher than those in Diet 4. The protein content in fish fed Diet 4 was significantly (P < 0.05) lower than the others. The total production of fish in different treatments ranged between 1917 and 2648 kg/ha/80 d. A simple economic analysis determined that the highest net profit (Tk. 52,965/ha) was obtained with Diet 2 and the lowest (Tk. 27,127/ha) with Diet 4 having 100% PC protein replacement. From the results of the study it is concluded that MBM can substitute up to 67% PC protein in catfish diet without hampering the growth and feed utilization.  相似文献
