The Norwegian Crop Research Institute runs a network of 52 automatic meteorological stations. The construction of a revised system for collecting meteorological data from the automatic stations and connecting the data to site‐specific information and biological information is outlined. The system for collection, validation and dissemination of information forms the backbone of the Norwegian Agricultural Meteorological Service. This system is geared towards the needs of agricultural research and extension service as well as the needs of farmers.  相似文献

Research in the various crop protection disciplines is carried out at the Central Norwegian Plant Protection Institute near Oslo: it includes studies on pesticide efficacy, problems of uptake, breakdown and residues. This agency is further in charge of the extension of practical knowledge and has a supervising capacity for the Plant Inspection Service. Some of the various problems which are of major concern for Norway are reviewed and ways for a proper integration of chemical and alternative methods studied.  相似文献

The Norwegian Institute of Agricultural Engineering has developed spraying equipment for particular uses, based on the adaptation of ordinary crop sprayers. Tractor-mounted sprayers are described for spraying brassicas and carrots against Delia spp., strawberries against mites and Botrytis cinerea , and for making regular applications on blackcurrant plantations. A special « boat-shaped >> sprayer has been developed for use in forest nurseries, both to apply insecticides against beetle attack and to apply herbicides. Nursery plants can alternatively be insecticide-sprayed before planting in a specially-designed spray chamber.  相似文献

Summary. A glasshouse experiment was performed in which linuron was added to five Norwegian soils. Chemical residue analysis and bioassay tests showed that the rate of decomposition varied for the different soils and that the linuron content which produced a reduction in growth of ryegrass seedlings varied with soil type. No leaching into the lower layers occurred. An initial depression in the numbers of bacteria and fungi present in the soils was observed, but the populations later recovered.  相似文献

High concentrations of the mycotoxins HT-2 and T-2 (HT2?+?T2), primarily produced by Fusarium langsethiae, have occasionally been detected in Norwegian oat grains. In this study, we identified weather variables influencing accumulation of HT2?+?T2 in Norwegian oat grains. Oat grain samples from farmers’ fields were collected together with weather data (2004–2013). Spearman rank correlation coefficients were calculated between the HT2?+?T2 contamination in oats at harvest and a range of weather summarisations within estimated phenological windows of growth stages in oats (tillering, flowering etc.). Furthermore, we developed a mathematical model to predict the risk of HT2?+?T2 in oat grains. Our data show that adequate predictions of the risk of HT2?+?T2 in oat grains at harvest can be achieved, based upon weather data observed during the growing season. Humid and cool conditions, in addition to moderate temperatures during booting, were associated with increased HT2?+?T2 accumulation in harvested oat grains, whereas warm and humid weather during stem elongation and inflorescence emergence, or cool weather and absence of rain during booting reduced the risk of HT2?+?T2 accumulation. Warm and humid weather immediately after flowering increased the risk, while moderate to warm temperatures and absence of rain during dough development, reduced the risk of HT2?+?T2 accumulation in oat grains. Our data indicated that HT2?+?T2 contamination in oats is influenced by weather conditions both pre- and post-flowering. These findings are in contrast with a previous study examining the risk of deoxynivalenol contamination in oat reporting that toxin accumulation was mostly influenced by weather conditions from flowering onwards.  相似文献

Gyrodactylus salaris Malmberg, 1957 is a major pathogen of wild Salmo salar L. parr populations in Norway, and its delimitation from non-pathogenic species is important. The present study was undertaken to test the power of chaetotaxy to differentiate between three populations belonging to both the same and different clades (as stated by mtDNA) of G. salaris, in addition to three different species of gyrodactylids (G. salaris, G. thymalli and G. caledoniensis). The gyrodactylids were processed for chaetotaxy in situ and a maximum of 50 specimens per collection site were used to construct a generalised map over the sensilla. The sensilla were found in all populations to be symmetrically distributed around the median longitudinal axis, according to a formula of 7 dorsal (34 sensilla) and 8 ventral (44 sensilla) clusters on each side of the median line. The three Norwegian populations of G. salaris were found identical, as were the population of G. thymalli. The specimens of G. caledoniensis from Scotland, however, were found to differ from the Norwegian species G. salaris and G. thymalli by the position of one sensillum in two of the clusters. A comparison of the sensillum pattern of laboratory maintained G. salaris (River Lierelva) with results obtained ten years earlier, questions the temporal stability of the chaetotaxy pattern. The present results indicate that chaetotaxy can be used to discriminate between certain Gyrodactylus spp. but not generally.  相似文献

A regular late-blight warning service was established in Norway in 1957, run by the Plant Protection Service. The service was revised in 1965 and from that year the warnings were distributed by the Norwegian Institute of Meteorology. The criteria for warnings are described. A regression analysis of the relationship between warnings and intensity of late-blight epidemics in 1957–1980 showed no significant differences between locations, but significant differences in the relationship between years and periods. The weather in the years 1973 to 1978 caused unfavourable conditions for late blight in all parts of the country. In 1979 and 1980 the weather changed and favourable climate to late blight occurred in most regions of the country, but the progress of epidemics in 1979 was slower than expected due to reduced inoculum potential. In 1980 a more normal progress of epidemics was observed, which indicated a reestablishment of the inoculum potential in the autumn of 1979.  相似文献

In recent years, Norwegian forest industries have depended to some extent on imported coniferous timber and chips, which has to be debarked to fulfil phytosanitary requirements. However, the standard of debarking of logs and chips from North America is often low. Sunken areas on stems often develop from cankers or rot around knots, and often escape debarking. Besides, even debarked, timber and chips may carry dangerous pests (Inonotus weirii, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus). Precautions should be taken after landing to hinder further spread of such dangerous organisms.  相似文献

Gyrodactylus thymalli Zitnan, 1960 and G. salaris Malmberg, 1957 have an indistinguishable ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) DNA sequence, but exhibit surprisingly high levels of intra- and interspecific sequence variation of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (CO1) gene. To test whether different populations of these reportedly very similar species could be discriminated using morphometric methods, we examined the morphometry of four different populations representing different mitochondrial clades. Twenty five point-to-point measurements, including five new characters of the attachment hooks, were recorded from three Norwegian laboratory populations (G. salaris from the Rivers Lierelva and Rauma, and G. thymalli from the River Rena), and from one wild population of G. thymalli from the River Test, UK. The Norwegian populations were kept under identical environmental conditions to control for the influence of temperature on the haptoral attachment hooks. Data were subsequently subjected to univariate and linear stepwise discriminant analyses. The model generated by the linear stepwise discriminant analysis used 18 of the 25 original variables, the first two roots accounting for 96.6% of the total variation between specimens. The hamulus shaft length accounts for 66.7% of the overall correct classification efficiency. Based on morphometry, all specimens were assigned to the correct species. Apart from three specimens of G. salaris from the River Lierelva population which were misclassified as belonging to the G. salaris Rauma population, all specimens were assigned to the correct population. Thus, populations of Gyrodactylus identified by mtDNA can also be discriminated using morphometric landmark distances.  相似文献

Phytophthora infestans was isolated from potato leaves and tubers collected from different parts of Finland in 1990–96 and Norway in 1993–96. Isolates were assessed for mating type, resistance to metalaxyl and virulence phenotype. In Finland 15% of 200 isolates tested and in Norway 25% of 642 tested were A2 mating type. Differences in the A1/A2 ratio were evident among regions and A2 was not found in northern areas. In Finland the frequency of metalaxyl-resistant isolates, among 1834 tested, decreased from 59% in 1990–95 to 2% in 1996. In Norway 59% of 491 isolates tested were resistant to metalaxyl in 1996. Among 269 Finnish and 105 Norwegian isolates, all known virulence genes were found in both countries and race 1.3.4.7.10.11 was the most common (resistance gene R9 was not included in the differential set). Oospores were observed in potato leaves from three locations in the southern part of Norway. The implications of the 'new' populations in the Nordic countries are discussed.  相似文献

Experimental infections of Babesia microti in laboratory-reared Clethrionomys glareolus revealed that approximately 15% of the erythrocytes were infected with single ring forms during peak parasitemia. Infected erythrocytes could be detected in blood smears up to one month post infection. C. glareolus treated with a single injection of Depo-Medrol i.m. two days prior to infection displayed a four-fold increase in number of infected erythrocytes at peak parasitemia, 35% of which contained more than one Babesia, and a prolongation of the infection. B. microti infections in 35 laboratory--reared Lemmus lemmus were fatal. Multiple invasion of erythrocytes, anemia, icterus, hemoglobinuria, anorexia and weight loss, and adrenal and splenic hypertrophy were characteristic for B. microti infections in Norwegian lemmings.  相似文献

The strawberry red core disease caused by Phytophthora fragariae var. fragariae has until recently not been reported from Norway. During 1995 and 1996, samples from 323 Norwegian strawberry fields were tested in a root-tip bait test for possible detection of red core. Symptoms of the disease developed in test plants cultivated in growth medium containing root tips from 21 fields at eight locations in four different counties. Disease symptoms included wilting of plants, root rot, red steles in the roots, and oogonia and oospores identical in size and appearance to those of P.f. fragariae developing along the root steles. In V8 juice agar, the mycelium was slow-growing, thick, fluffy and aerial. Sporangia were large, mainly inversely pyriform, and without papillae. Optimum temperature for mycelial growth was 21°C, and the fungus ceased to grow at 25°C. In infested fields, the most severe attacks were found in low, often poorly drained areas. The means by which red core may have been introduced and spread in the country are discussed, together with preventive action to avoid further dissemination.  相似文献

Norway (in contrast to Denmark and Sweden) has so far had only a few outbreaks of Dutch elm disease, all in the southern part of Norway (cities of Oslo and Drammen) on one or a few Ulmus glabra trees in city parks, not far from harbours and railways. Scolytus laevis endemic to Norway is the only potential vector found in the diseased trees. Transmission of the fungus through root grafts cannot be disregarded. The fungus is currently considered a dangerous foreign organism in Norway, subject to treatment according to the Norwegian phytosanitary regulations. Control measures, aiming at eradication, have been applied in all known cases of attack. Removal and destruction of diseased trees, stump treatment with herbicide, and covering of stumps with soil, have apparently been successful measures.  相似文献

Crown rot of strawberry, caused by Phytophthora cactorum , was detected for the first time in Norway in 1992. This paper reports on surveys for P. cactorum in Norwegian certified strawberry plant production and on the distribution of the pathogen in regular strawberry production. In 1996 and 1997, samples of plant material from all certified strawberry plant growers in the country were investigated by isolation on artificial growth medium and using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). P. cactorum was not detected in any of the samples. A total of 171 isolations from plants with symptoms resembling crown rot were made from plants in a survey of the distribution of Phytophthora fragariae var. fragariae and from other samples. P. cactorum was detected at 35 different strawberry-producing farms in 11 of the 19 counties of Norway. The fungus was most frequently isolated from cv. Korona (at 18 locations), followed by cv. Inga (at 10 locations).  相似文献

Soft rot and blackleg of potato caused by pectinolytic bacteria lead to severe economic losses in potato production worldwide. To investigate the species composition of bacteria causing soft rot and black leg of potato in Norway and Poland, bacteria were isolated from potato tubers and stems. Forty-one Norwegian strains and 42 Polish strains that formed cavities on pectate medium were selected for potato tuber maceration assays and sequencing of three housekeeping genes (dnaX, icdA and mdh) for species identification and phylogenetic analysis. The distribution of the species causing soft rot and blackleg in Norway and Poland differed: we have demonstrated that mainly P. atrosepticum and P. c. subsp. carotovorum are the causal agents of soft rot and blackleg of potatoes in Norway, while P. wasabiae was identified as one of the most important soft rot pathogens in Poland. In contrast to the other European countries, D. solani seem not to be a major pathogen of potato in Norway and Poland. The Norwegian and Polish P. c. subsp. carotovorum and P. wasabiae strains did not cluster with type strains of the respective species in the phylogenetic analysis, which underlines the taxonomic complexity of the genus Pectobacterium. No correlation between the country of origin and clustering of the strains was observed. All strains tested in this study were able to macerate potato tissue. The ability to macerate potato tissue was significantly greater for the P. c. subsp. carotovorum and Dickeya spp., compared to P. atrosepticum and P. wasabiae.  相似文献

The ambrosia beetle Gnathotrichus materiarius, which originally came from North America, was discovered in southern Finland in 1996. In 1997, using Norwegian drainpipe traps baited with pheromones of Gnathotrichus retusus and G. sulcatus, we collected beetles in the region where the first specimen had been caught in order to determine whether this potential pest species had become established in the area. Samples from a total of 16 traps included 79 species of beetles and 719 individuals, but no specimens of G. materiarius. The most abundant species in the samples were the ambrosia beetles Xyleborus dispar and Trypodendron lineatum. Several predators and other associates of bark beetles were also captured. The majority of the beetles caught were saproxylic species.  相似文献

Finnish and Norwegian uninucleate Rhizoctonia sp, isolates. originating from roots of nursery grown conifer seedlings suffering from root dieback, and having Ceratobasidium perfect state, were tested for pathogenicity and genetic related ness. All tested isolates of this pathogen considerably reduced the root system development of Scots pine and Norway spruce seedlings resulting in death or stunted growth. The uninucleate isolates anastomosed readily with each other producing a killing reaction. In a RAPD-PCR analysis, the uninucleate isolates had different banding patterns from our reference isolates, two Finnish binucleate isolates (AG-I and R. sp.) and standard tester isolates of genus Ceratobasidium representing anastomosis groups AG-A, AG-C, AG-E, AG-G and AG-I. UPGMA analysis clustered the uninucleate isolates together at a greater similarity than 75% while the binucleate isolates formed distinct clusters and were 10-25% similar to the uninucleate Rhizoctonia sp. Hyphal anastomosis and DNA data suggest that the uninucleate Rhizocionia sp. is an homogeneous group and distinct from the tested binucleate Rhizoctonia isolates.  相似文献

Isolates ofTyphula ishikariensis, a snow mold fungus, were collected from five localities in Norway. They were divided into three groups according to genetics, cultural morphology, etc. Group I grew normally at 10 °C. Its mating patterns with Japanese taxa were variable: compatible with both biotypes A and B; compatible with biotype A but incompatible with biotype B; and incompatible with both biotypes. Group I was prevalent in southern inland districts such as Buskerud, Oppland, and Hedmark. Group II had smaller sclerotia as compared to other groups, and its sclerotia were often covered with white mycelium in nature and in culture. Group II was compatible with biotype B only. Group III was characterized by irregular growth at 10 ° C and genetic incompatibility with biotypes A and B. Cultural morphology of group III resembled that of group I at 0 °C. Rind cell patterns of sclerotia did not separate these two groups or biotypes. Isolates of groups II and III were often obtained from coastal regions in Finmark. Mating reactions were variable: monokaryons were compatible with their respective dikaryons, and monokaryons of groups II and III occasionally mated with group I dikaryons. Dikaryons of groups II and III, however did dikaryotize monokaryons of other groups. Norwegian isolates ofT. ishikariensis were highly variable, and the orthodox nomenclature system seemed inapplicalbe at the infraspecific level.  相似文献

High concentrations of the mycotoxin deoxynivalenol (DON), produced by Fusarium graminearum have occurred frequently in Norwegian oats recently. Early prediction of DON levels is important for farmers, authorities and the Cereal Industry. In this study, the main weather factors influencing mycotoxin accumulation were identified and two models to predict the risk of DON in oat grains in Norway were developed: (1) as a warning system for farmers to decide if and when to treat with fungicide, and (2) for authorities and industry to use at harvest to identify potential food safety problems. Oat grain samples from farmers’ fields were collected together with weather data (2004–2013). A mathematical model was developed and used to estimate phenology windows of growth stages in oats (tillering, flowering etc.). Weather summarisations were then calculated within these windows, and the Spearman rank correlation factor calculated between DON-contamination in oats at harvest and the weather summarisations for each phenological window. DON contamination was most clearly associated with the weather conditions around flowering and close to harvest. Warm, rainy and humid weather during and around flowering increased the risk of DON accumulation in oats, as did dry periods during germination/seedling growth and tillering. Prior to harvest, warm and humid weather conditions followed by cool and dry conditions were associated with a decreased risk of DON accumulation. A prediction model, including only pre-flowering weather conditions, adequately forecasted risk of DON contamination in oat, and can aid in decisions about fungicide treatments.  相似文献
