A 4-month-old male, miniature Schnauzer had dyspnoea of 4 days duration, cyanosis, grade II/VI systolic murmur and jugular pulse. The presence of intestinal loops in the pericardial sac was detected by radiography. Repair of the peritoneo-pericardial diaphragmatic hernia did not improve the clinical condition of the puppy, which died on the day of surgery. Pulmonary arterial medial hypertrophy, necrotizing pulmonary arteritis, and right ventricular hypertrophy were diagnosed post mortem.  相似文献

A 3.5-year-old border collie was presented for routine ovariohysterectomy. A preoperative physical examination revealed no abnormalities, but, under anesthesia, the patient became dyspneic and cyanotic. Plain radiography indicated the presence of a diaphragmatic hernia. The herniated structures were returned to the abdomen and the diaphragmatic defect was surgically repaired.  相似文献

A one-year-old neutered, Goldendoodle presented for evaluation. One week prior to presentation, the surgical closure of a peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia was performed via ventral midline celiotomy. Since the procedure, the dog had been lethargic and anorexic at home. Thoracic radiographs revealed a pneumopericardium. Pericardiocentesis was performed which evacuated approximately 100 mL of air from the pericardial sac. The dog recovered well and began eating in the hospital and resumed normal activity. This is the first reported case of a pneumopericardium post-peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia repair requiring pericardiocentesis. Clinicians should be aware of this rare complication in patients with post-operative peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia.  相似文献

Objective: To describe the surgical repair and pre‐ and postoperative management of a peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia (PPDH) in a pregnant dog. Case summary: A pregnant dog was presented for vomiting, lethargy, and pale mucous membranes. Pulsus paradoxus was noted on physical examination. The dog was diagnosed with a PPDH via thoracic radiographs, abdominal ultrasound, and an echocardiogram. The hernia was surgically repaired and the dog received supportive medical care until the puppies were old enough to be delivered via cesarean section. The mother and all puppies survived. New or unique information provided: This is the first report that describes the surgical repair and postoperative management of a PPDH in a pregnant dog.  相似文献

A 6-year-old intact male pug dog was referred to the Atlantic Veterinary College veterinary teaching hospital for a surgical consultation after survey radiographs taken by the referring veterinarian led to a tentative diagnosis of a peritoneal-pericardial diaphragmatic hernia. Computed tomography of the thorax and abdomen prior to surgery further characterized the lesion and aided in surgical planning. Surgical correction of the defect was achieved via primary herniorrhaphy. The patient was discharged and was reported to be doing well 7 months after surgery.  相似文献

One month after falling heavily a four-year-old horse developed acute colic while being exercised. A tentative diagnosis of diaphragmatic hernia was reached on the basis of the clinical findings and confirmed at laparotomy. The defect was repaired and the horse made an uneventful recovery.  相似文献

Peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia is a common incidental finding in cats and is rarely symptomatic. The case report described herein presented with dyspnoea secondary to incarceration of hepatic cysts within the pericardial space of a cat with a peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia.  相似文献
