Abstract

Field trials were established on a loamy fine sand and a silt loam using snapbeans and soybeans as test crops, respectively. Row fertilizer was placed with the seed (seed‐placed). Treatments were arranged in a 3×3×3 factorial experiment, and N, P, and K were applied in all combinations at three rates (0, 3.4, and 6.8 kg/ha). Ammonium nitrate (AN), monoammonium phosphate (MAP), concentrated superphosphate (CSP) and potassium chloride (KCl) were used as sources of N, P and K. Additional treatments compared MAP with diammonium phosphate (DAP) and KCl with potassium nitrate (KNO3).

The salt index of each treatment was inversely related to emergence, i.e. as the salt index increased, the emergence decreased. Level of N was more important than level of P or K in regards to reduction in emergence. Snapbeans grown on a loamy fine sand were extremely sensitive to damage from seed‐placed fertilizer, even at rates as low as 3.4 kg/ha of N, P or K. Soybeans planted on a silt loam soil were less sensitive than snapbeans planted on a loamy sand. The soybeans were able to tolerate up to 10.2 kg/ha of seed‐placed P plus K or 6.8 kg/ha of seed‐placed N plus P or N plus K without causing a significant delay in emergence.  相似文献

A greenhouse experiment with beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) was performed in order to investigate the effect of nitrogen and sulphur application and seed inoculation on the yield, leaf area, distribution of different nitrogen and sulphur fractions and N/S ratio in shoot, fruit and root.

Inoculation of plants together with nitrogen or sulphur application produces an increase in the concentration of total nitrogen and a decrease in the accumulation of nitrate‐nitrogen and sulphate‐sulphur in shoot, fruit and root. Leaf area increased more with nitrogen than with sulphur application while the highest amounts of fruit dry matter were obtained with sulphur application.

N: S ratios obtained were different according to the part of the plant tested. Sulphur fertilization decreased the N: S ratios in shoot, fruit and root. The data obtained indicate that and adequate N: S ratio can insure maximum production of yield.  相似文献

Abstract

Nitrates were directly determined in sugar beet sap, extracted with 0.04 M Pb(CH3COO)2 ‐ 0.02 M PbO, using an ion‐selective electrode. Nitrate levels as low as 5 mg/kg of fresh plant weight could be accurately determined with a high degree of precision. As an additional advantage, this method can be automated so that nitrates in sugar beet sap can be determined simultaneously with Na, K, aminoacid‐nitrogen, and sugar.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Eine Sammelreise von Mitarbeitern des Instituts für Botanik Ulan-Bator und des Zentralinstituts für Genetik und Kulturpflanzenforschung Gatersleben in den Osten der MVR vom Juli/August 1987 galt der weiteren Inventarisierung der Gefäßpflanzen dieses Gebiets und den indigenen Wildsippen der GattungAllium L. im besonderen. Report of a collecting mission to the mongolian people's republic 1987 (Allium L. in Eastern Mongolia)
Summary A collecting mission was carried out in the Eastern part of the MPR by staff members of the Institute of Botany, Ulan-Bator, and the Zentralinstitut für Genetik und Kulturpflanzenforschung, Gatersleben, in July/August 1987 for a further inventory of vascular plants in this area and for the indigenous wild species of the GenusAllium, particularly. The route and first results of the expedition have been described shortly. A list of theAllium plant-material is given. Some remarks are made in regard to systematic position, distribution and ecology, of some species(Allium macrostemon, A. neriniflorum, A. condensalum, A. polyrrhizum, A. mongolicum, A. ramosum) in Eastern Mongolia. Utilization and cultivation of MongolianAllium species have been discussed shortly.

The objective of this study was to investigate the growth of coffee (Coffea arabica L. cv. ‘Bourbon’) in soil amended with compost, vermicompost, and bokashi at 25%, 50%, and 66% while mycorrhizal colonization and activity of acid and alkaline phosphatases and urease in soil were monitored. Treatments with 25% compost as well as higher application rates of compost and bokashi (50% or 66%) increased coffee growth. Shoot fresh weight increased 5 times when 25% bokashi or compost was applied, 8 times when 50% was applied and 10 times when 66% was applied compared to the control plants without organic fertilizer. Acid and alkaline phosphatase and urease activity increased when organic fertilizer was applied to soil. Application of organic fertilizers increased the growth and fresh weight of root and shoot of coffee plants and improved the root mycorrizal colonization and enzymatic activity of the soil.  相似文献

Abstract

Field trials were established on an irrigated loamy sand using corn as a test crop. Row fertilizer was placed with the seed (seed‐placed) or in the conventional side placement position (side‐placed). The side‐placed treatments consisted of two carriers of UAPP (28–28–0 and 36–18–0), diammonium phosphate (DAP, 18–46–0) plus ammonium nitrate (AN, 33–0–0), and a control treatment. Two rates of application were used for each carrier. Seed‐placed treatments consisted of two carriers of UAPP (28–28–0 and 36–18–0), concentrated superphosphate (CSP, 0–45–0) plus AN, CSP, AN, and a control treatment. Two rates of application were used for each carrier, except AN, which was used at three rates.

High rates of side‐placed UAPP delayed emergence of corn and lowered the final population. Early season N concentration in corn seedlings was not affected by rate or carrier of side‐placed N. Early season P concentration in the corn seedlings was greater for AN + DAP than UAPP treatments at all rates of P, presumably due to toxic accumulation of free NH3 in the UAPP band. High rates of side‐placed UAPP also reduced the yield of corn.

High rates of seed‐placed AN + CSP and UAPP reduced the germination of corn. However, low rates of UAPP also reduced germination, whereas low rates of AN + CSP did not affect germination. Since UAPP has a lower salt index than AN + CSP, the “salt effect”; of low rates of UAPP does not explain its effect on germination and emergence. The deleterious effects of UAPP were due apparently to either NH3 or NO2‐N toxicity.  相似文献

5′ Untransalted regions (UTR) sequences of Waxy genes were amplified from all 81 Triticum L. and Aegilops L. species by PCR with specific primers. It was found that the sequence length at 7D loci was longer than that 7B and 7A. These sequences contained 170 singleton variable sites and 484 polymorphic sites and that the average length of Indels was 8.5?bp. There were abundant regions of restriction enzyme sites and two regions of simple sequence repeat, “GAA” and “CTGA”, in all sequences. A total of 65 uORFs were detected and classed into 37 types, with the variation in uORFs mainly due to single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), and also to the presence of Indels. All sequences in tetraploids and hexaploids could be grouped into Types A, B, I, II, GI and GII based on sequence variation. Restriction enzyme sites, Indel polymorphisms and the classes of uORFs present together indicated that Type I was more similar to Ae. tauschii whereas Type II was more similar to Type B, and both more similar to Ae. longissima; Type A was more similar to Ae. speltoides. Population analysis was performed and Neighbour-joining trees derived from different species, types and accessions further confirmed that the ancestors of T. urartu, Ae. speltoides, Ae. longissima and Ae. tauschii were involved to the evolution of common wheat, and also implied that Ae. longissima might have participated later than Ae. speltoides. 5′ UTRs of Waxy genes in tetraploid and hexaploid species conserved characters from their respective progenitors when compared with diploid. For the first time, we are able to conclude there is abundant variation in SNPs, Indels and uORFs between 5′ UTRs of Waxy genes from different species related to common wheat, and suggest that further research could help to understand Waxy gene function more deeply and hence improve wheat breeding. Our results also show that three hexaploid species in China have unique diversity in the 5′ UTR of their Waxy gene.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Bei Ackerbohnen (Vicia faba L. var.minor) führen hohe Temperaturen in Verbindung mit Wasserdefizit zu einem Absinken der Netto-CO2-Assimilation. Außerdem sterben mehr Blätter ab. Als Folge sind geringere Trockenmassebildung und weniger Blüten zu beobachten. Defoliationsexperimente zeigen, daß ein reduzierter Blattapparat zu beschleunigter Alterung und verringerter Netto-CO2-Assimilation führt.
The influence of drought stress and leaf removal on the netto CO2-assimilation, selected morphological properties and leaf components of field beans (Vicia faba L. var. minor)
Summary In field beans a high temperature treatment in connection with deficiency of water decreases the netto photosynthesis. Under this conditions most of the leaves die off. As a result there is a decrease in the formation of dry mass and a lower number of flowers are observed. Removal of leaves from the plants leads to a faster senescence and a decreased rate of netto photosynthesis.

Pot and field experiments were performed to assess N2 fixation in Nicaraguan (R79 and R84) and Ecuadorian (Imba) common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivars, with the aim of improving their productivity by inoculating them with commercially produced Rhizobium phaseoli. With maize (Zea mays L.) as the non‐N2‐fixing control, the percentage of N2 fixed predicted by the 15N‐dilution method was significantly (P ≤ 0.05) higher than that predicted by the N‐difference method. However, the N2 amounts predicted by the two methods were not significantly different. The correlation between the two methods was significant and positive (P ≤ 0.0001, n = 36). Compared with the native rhizobial strain, symbiotic associations of the bean cultivars with UMR1073, UMR1077 and UMR1899 rhizobial inoculants did not significantly (P ≤ 0.05) influence plant dry matter (DM) and N yields, the extent of N2 fixation and uptake of soil and fertilizer N. Nevertheless, the UMR1077 and UMR1899 strains markedly increased the uptake of soil N by R84 plants, while decreasing N2 fixation. In contrast, the Imba‐UMR1899 association enhanced positive effects on all variables. About 60–70% of the total N taken up by the Imba plants was fixed N2. The R79 and R84 plants fixed about 50% of their total N uptake. N2 fixation rates were positively correlated with DM and total N yields, while being negatively correlated with soil N uptake (P ≤ 0.001, n = 36). Future research in Nicaragua should focus on selecting rhizobial strains suitable for indigenous common bean cultivars.  相似文献

Five winter cultivars of Triticum aestivum L., representing a known range of tolerance to aluminum (Al), were grown in nutrient solutions with and without Al for 41 days to determine long‐term changes in solution pH. Plant‐induced pH of the nutrient solutions declined for 16 to 17 days. Subsequently, the pH induced by Al‐sensitive plants grown without Al and Al‐tolerant plants grown with Al and without Al increased rapidly, presumably reflecting depletion of NH4 + from the nutrient solutions. Aluminum‐sensitive plants grown with Al showed a less pronounced pH rise after 16 to 17 days of treatment.

After nutrient solutions were renewed on days 26 and 34, plant‐induced pH patterns were similar to those during days 1 to 26. However, the time required for the onset of the rapid rise in pH decreased. In these subsequent pH cycles, the pH patterns induced by Al‐tolerant plants grown with Al progressively approximated those induced by plants grown without Al. Aluminum‐sensitive plants grown with Al did not induce a rapid rise In pH of nutrient solutions.

Differential tolerance to Al was apparent visually after three to five days growth. Cultivar tolerance to Al was correlated with the initial rate of the pH decline (days 1 to 26) as well as final pH of solutions discarded on days 26, 34, and 41. These results support the hypothesis that differential uptake of NH4 + and NO3 causes cultivar differences in plant‐induced pH of nutrient solutions and affects the relative growth of cultivars in Al‐toxic nutrient solutions.  相似文献

A stable isotope dilution assay for quantification of pantothenic acid in sea buckthorn berries, juice, and concentrate using a four-fold labeled isotopologue of vitamin B5 as the internal standard was adopted using reversed phase liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry with electrospray ionization. Because of a rapid sample clean up procedure without the necessity of external calibration, this methodology permits the accurate analysis of a high number of samples within a short time. Sea buckthorn juice was stored at 25 and 40 degrees C for up to 7 days to determine the effects of storage temperature on the stability of pantothenic acid. Analysis of kinetic data suggested that the degradation follows a first-order model. The results of the experiments showed that storage of sea buckthorn juice for 7 days at ambient temperature (25 degrees C) already resulted in a significant degradation of pantothenic acid of about 18%. The processing effects of juice production and subsequent concentration revealed a decrease of about 6-7% in the juice and of 23% in the juice concentrate.  相似文献

The present study investigates oleuropein metabolism, as well as the involvement of β-glucosidase during the growth, development, and ripening of olive fruit. The results show that in olive fruit the in vivo formation and transformation of oleuropein takes place in three different stages. The first one is characterized by a net accumulation of oleuropein and occurs in the immature fruit. In the second stage, associated with the green and light-green fruits, oleuropein content is maintained practically constant, and finally, a third stage that begins in the green-yellow fruit is characterized by a progressive decline of the oleuropein concentration. Our findings confirm that in the absence of β-glucosidase the Damtoft-proposed pathway is active and that net synthesis of oleuropein is unquestionable. β-Glucosidase activity plays a key role in the oleuropein metabolism catalyzing its in vivo hydrolysis.  相似文献

In 1948, a model trial to study soil formation was arranged at Halle/Saale by K. Schmalfuß. Loess with very low content of soil organic matter was used as substrate. The aim was to investigate the soil formation processes influenced by the P and N mineral fertilization. After 30 years, crop yields reached a characteristic, approximately constant level corresponding to the different fertilization treatments and cultivated plants. Recent comparisons of the highest N with the no-N fertilizer treatment show that the mean shoot dry weight per year has a 2.5-fold higher but the Corg content in the topsoil only a 1.2-fold higher value. An accumulation of alkaline-soluble organic soil substances and a decrease of hot water soluble carbon compounds were observed in the highest fertilizer treatment as well as in the treatments without N or P fertilization. Carbon compounds were apparently enriched in the inert carbon pool of the topsoil. During soil formation, the cation exchange capacity and the content of easily soluble P compounds increased, lime content decreased and the C/N ratio became narrower. The results suggest that these parameters are continuing to change and the steady state of the level of organic soil substances and of the transformation processes between C pools in the topsoil has not yet been reached.  相似文献

Sea buckthorn berries (Hippopha? rhamnoides ssp. mongolica) of nine varieties were collected from three growth locations in five inconsecutive years (n = 152) to study the compositional differences of sugars, sugar alcohols, fruit acids, and ascorbic acid in berries of different genotypes. Fructose and glucose (major sugars) were highest in Chuiskaya and Vitaminaya among the varieties studied, respectively. Malic acid and quinic acid (major acids) were highest in Pertsik and Vitaminaya, respectively. Ascorbic acid was highest in Oranzhevaya and lowest in Vitaminaya. Berry samples of nine varieties collected from two growth locations in five years (n = 124) were combined to study the effects of latitude and weather conditions on the composition of H. rhamnoides ssp. mongolica. Sea buckthorn berries grown at lower latitude had higher levels of total sugar and sugar/acid ratio and a lower level of total acid and were supposed to have better sensory properties than those grown at higher latitude. Glucose, quinic acid, and ascorbic acid were hardly influenced by weather conditions. The other components showed various correlations with temperature, radiation, precipitation, and humidity variables. In addition, fructose, sucrose, and myo-inositol correlated positively with each other and showed negative correlation with malic acid on the basis of all the samples studied (n = 152).  相似文献

This work investigated the role of structure in the binding of polysaccharides from 10 regionally different strains of Lentinula edodes to Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR-4) on monocytes (THP-1) and the potential effect of this interaction on tumor cell viability. Principal component analysis and multiple linear regression identified arabinose, glucose 1 → 4 linkage, and molecular weights about 2700 and 534 kDa as the significant determinant factors associated with TLR-4 binding activity. The branched α-(1,4)-glucan (L10) had the strongest ability to bind to TLR-4 and induce THP-1 cell differentiation. L10 induction of the THP-1 cell differentiation, superoxide production, and cytokine production followed the TLR-4/MyD88/IKK/NFκB pathway. Coculture of irradiated human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells with L10-activated THP-1 cells resulted in significantly decreased percentage of viable A549 cells from 66 to 37% (p = 0.018), increased levels of superoxide, interleukin-8, and RANTES, and decreased levels of angiogenin and vascular endothelial growth factor. The results indicate that L10-activated monocytes have the potential to boost the antitumor immune response and antitumor activity of radiotherapy.  相似文献

As a country, Mexico presents an especially wide range of fruit germplasm diversity. Tepexi de Rodríguez, Puebla, Mexico, belongs to The Tehuacán-Cuicatlán Valley, which is an arid zone recognized to have a flora diversity. In that place, wild plum (Ximenia americana L. var. americana; Olacaceae), locally named “tihuixocote” grows mainly in backyards, the fruit of this species is appreciated by native people due to its taste, which is reported to be a mixture between sweet and sour. Fruit from 15 trees were characterized by measuring bio-physical and bio-chemical parameters, including weight, diameter (equatorial and polar), relationship equatorial/polar diameters, total sugar, soluble solid content and phenolic compounds. The results of this study indicate variability for these various wild plum fruit characteristics among trees growing in a reduced territorial space.  相似文献
