Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), especially CC398, have emerged in livestock worldwide. We investigated the occurrence of MRSA in pigs at slaughter and in retail meat. During 2009, nasal swabs (n=789) were taken from pigs at slaughter. Moreover, 866 meat samples [Danish: pork (153), broiler meat (121), beef (142) and; imported: pork (173), broiler meat (193), and beef (84)] were randomly collected in retail stores and outlets. MRSA was isolated from nasal swabs or from meat samples after preenrichment (Mueller Hinton broth with 6.5% NaCl), selective enrichment (tryptone soya broth with 4 mg/L cefoxitine and 75 mg/L aztreonam) and selective plating on Brilliance Chromogenic MRSA agar. The presence of mecA was confirmed by PCR and the MRSA isolates were spa typed. Novel MRSA spa types were characterized by MLST, PFGE and SCCmec typing. Thirteen percent (101/789) of the pigs had MRSA. Based on spa types 93% corresponded to CC398 (spa t011, t034, t1451, t2876, t2974), 4% to CC30 (t1333) and one isolate to CC1 (t0127). The spa type t1333 (CC30), which is common among methicillin susceptible S. aureus (MSSA) from pigs in Denmark, contained a SCCmec cassette type V and czrC zinc resistance gene. Imported broiler meat had the highest occurrence (18%) of MRSA, followed by imported pork (7.5%) and Danish pork (4.6%). MRSA ST398 was found for the first time in Danish beef (1.4%). The finding of MRSA CC30 (spa t1333) suggest possible spread of the SCCmec cassette normally associated with ST398 into another S. aureus lineage common in pigs.  相似文献

Recent reports of isolation of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) from food animals have raised concern about the potential for foodborne transmission. This study evaluated the prevalence of MRSA contamination of retail pork from 4 Canadian provinces. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus was isolated from 31/402 [7.7%, 95% confidence interval (CI): 5.5% to 10.7%] of samples. Adjusted for clustering at the provincial level, the prevalence was 5.8% (95% CI% 2.2% to 14.4%). The most common clone was Canadian epidemic MRSA (CMRSA)-5 (12/31, 39%), which has been widely identified in horses and horse personnel, but not in pigs. Ten of the 31 (32%) isolates were nontypable by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and belonged to spa 539/t034, a clone that is associated with food animals internationally. Nine (29%) isolates were CMRSA-2, a common human epidemic clone that has been found in pigs in Canada. While the relevance of contamination of retail meat is currently unclear, further study is required to determine if food may be a source of infection.  相似文献

金黄色葡萄球菌是引起人和动物感染及食物中毒的重要病原体之一。为了解四川省山羊金黄色葡萄球菌的健康带菌情况及其耐药性,采集了省内4个养殖场共32只山羊的鼻腔棉拭子样本,进行金黄色葡萄球菌的分离、鉴定及药敏试验。共从11只羊的鼻腔棉拭子样本中分离出金黄色葡萄球菌,检出率为34.4%。对临床分离株进行了苯唑西林、头孢西丁、万古霉素等11种抗菌药物的药敏试验,结果表明,分离株对氨苄西林的耐药率为72.7%,对其它抗菌药物没有耐药性,未发现耐甲氧西林金黄色葡萄球菌(MRSA)。本研究结果表明,四川地区山羊的金黄色葡萄球菌的带菌情况较普遍,因此,应该规范屠宰过程的卫生操作,并进行严格监控,减少金黄色葡萄球菌的污染。  相似文献

Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the most important pathogens in human and veterinary hospitals. The isolation of MRSA from animals and foodstuffs has been reported with an increased incidence. However, methicillin (oxacillin) is not used in animal husbandry or in animal hospitals in Korea. In this study, three pre-MRSA and one silent mecA-carrying methicillin susceptible S. aureus (smMSSA) were isolated from retail chicken meat, and three MRSA were isolated from hospitalized dogs in Korea. The three pre-MRSA isolates were determined to have a staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec) type III, and the smMSSA isolate was not classified. The animal hospital isolates were found to contain SCCmec type II. Seven and 15 S. aureus isolated from hospitalized humans and bovine milk, respectively, were also examined in this study in order to determine the epidemiological origins of MRSA. Multilocus sequencing typing (MLST) revealed that the chicken meat and bovine milk isolates were closely related to the animal hospital isolates. The SCCmec characteristics and MLST analyses indicated the possibility of the human to animal transmission of MRSA. These results highlight the importance of identifying MRSA carriers as well as intercepting MRSA transmission because MRSA is becoming increasingly widespread without any plausible relationship with the use of methicillin (oxacillin).  相似文献

牛肉具有高蛋白质,低脂肪,含磷脂多、胆固醇少,肌肉纤维细嫩、柔软,风味独特等优点。随着人们生活水平的提高和膳食结构的改变,牛肉消费量也持续增加,为牛肉生产带来了难得的发展机遇。试验研究相同饲养管理条件下,生物饲料对不同品种肉牛肉中屠宰性能和常规营养成分的影响,证明安格斯公牛在胴体重、屠宰率、净肉重、净肉率和胴体产肉率相比西杂牛更高(P<0.05);而水分、粗脂肪、粗蛋白含量也存在较大差异(P<0.05)。这能够为提高肉牛的肉质提供科学的依据,在肉牛生产中具有重要的实践指导意义。  相似文献

Two isolates of mecA-positive methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) from retail raw chicken meat were characterized by phenotypic and genotypic methods. One isolate showed the human biovar, coagulase type III, phage group I * III, the lack of production of enterotoxins and TSST-1, and resistance to PCG/ABPC/EM/GM/KM. The other isolate showed the human biovar, coagulase type III, phage group III, production of enterotoxin C and TSST-1, and resistance to PCG/ABPC/CEZ. The biotyping results indicate that the two isolates showed characteristics of human S. aureus. They also harbored SCCmec type IV, which has prevalently been found in community-acquired MRSA isolates. This paper is the first publication regarding MRSA isolates from raw chicken meat in Japan.  相似文献

An investigation was conducted in Morogoro municipality to assess the likelihood of slaughter cattle posing public health risk of contaminating carcasses with thermophilic Campylobacter. Butchers and meat shopkeepers were interviewed on source of slaughter cattle, method of animal and carcass transportation, carcass dressing, meat storage facilities, access to clean water and availability of food hygiene practices. Faecal samples were collected from 107 slaughter cattle and after slaughter; four different parts of dressed carcasses (i.e. from ham, neck, pelvis and thigh muscles) were also sampled. In addition 107 cattle meat samples for Campylobacter culture were collected in different meat shops. The samples were subjected to standard bacteriological examination using Skirrows protocol. It was found that cattle slaughter, dressing and meat handling in meatshops was done under unhygienic condition. Thermophilic Campylobacter prevalence in slaughter cattle was 5.6% while contamination rate of dressed carcasses and cattle meat at shops was 9.3% and 1.9%, respectively. The majority of thermophilic Campylobacter isolated were C. jejuni (88.9%) while C. coli was isolated at 11.1%. Findings of this study suggest possibility of humans acquiring zoonotic Campylobacter infections from cattle meat particularly when meat preparation and processing is not done properly. More work is required to establish the magnitude of zoonotic enteric Campylobacteriosis in humans and epidemiological role of cattle and other animals in the study area.  相似文献

The number of outbreaks of human illnesses caused by consumption of undercooked beef contaminated with Shiga-like toxin-producing Escherichia coli (SLTEC) such as O157:H7 has increased in recent years. As a result, cattle have been considered as reservoirs of such pathogens. The social fear and economic impact associated with this problem have prompted global research to understand the epidemiology of such pathogens with the goal to develop strategies that can be implemented at the farm and during slaughter and processing to assure beef safety. Several on-farm factors that may be manipulated to decrease the risk of sending cattle harboring SLTEC to slaughter include animal, manure handling, drinking water, feed additives, probiotics, management, feeding regime, and dietary ingredients. Several off-farm (during slaughter and processing) factors that can be improved or adapted to produce safer beef include trimming, spraying with sanitizers, hot-water washing, irradiation, using dips, and using food additives. Adaptation of several off-farm practices has been useful in removing the pathogens from beef or its products after they have been contaminated. Recently, attention has been given to those factors that can be altered before sending cattle to slaughter (e.g., on-farm). Because of the complexity of the problem, the on-farm and off-farm factors affecting beef safety should be elucidated, their roles clearly defined, and their additive impacts determined. Upon elucidation of these roles/impacts, the best pre- and post-harvest control measures can be implemented to support a competitive beef industry.  相似文献

This paper addresses food safety in beef cattle production, with particular emphasis on factors that affect the prevalence of Escherichia coli O157:H7 in beef cattle and on control methods that have been investigated. Product recalls and foodborne diseases due to this organism continue to occur even though control measures have been under investigation for over 20 years. Most meatborne outbreaks are due to improper food handling practices and consumption of undercooked meat. However, the majority of pathogenic bacteria that can spread at slaughter by cross-contamination can be traced back to the farm rather than originating from the slaughter plant. This would ideally require the adoption of rigorous on-farm intervention strategies to mitigate risks at the farm level. On-farm strategies to control and reduce E. coli O157:H7 at the farm level will reduce the risk of carcass contamination at slaughter and processing facilities although they will not eliminate E. coli O157:H7. The most successful strategy for reducing the risk of contamination of beef and beef products will involve the implementation of both pre- and post-harvest measures.  相似文献

One jejunal and one caecal lymph node were sampled from each of 50 cows, 40 yearling cattle, 25 sheep, 20 lambs and 45 pigs after slaughter. Salmonella, Clostridium perfringens and Staphylococcus aureus , all organisms which cause food poisoning in man, were sought by direct plating methods. The samples were also enriched and cultured for Salmonella. Organisms were cultured from 208 (58%) of the 360 lymph nodes; aerobic plate counts yielded up to 25,000 organisms per gram of tissue, although from most infected samples less than 1000 organisms per gram were cultured. Salmonella was isolated directly from 5% of samples, with counts up to 1,500 per gram. After enrichment Salmonella was isolated from nodes taken from 15 cows, 2 yearling cattle, one sheep and 8 pigs. Cl. perfringens was isolated from the caecal nodes of 2 yearling cattle and 2 pigs; S. aureus was not isolated from any sample. It was concluded that mesenteric lymph nodes may be a significant reservoir of Salmonella for transfer to meat and meat products.  相似文献

CASE DESCRIPTION: Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) was isolated from the tracheostomy tube of an 18-month-old castrated male Golden Retriever in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Ontario Veterinary College. This prompted an investigation of MRSA colonization in other animals in the ICU. CLINICAL FINDINGS: On day 1 of the investigation, MRSA was isolated from nasal swabs obtained from 2 of 10 animals (2/7 dogs and 0/3 cats), including the index case. Subsequently, MRSA was isolated from 3 of 12 animals on day 9; 3 of 9 animals on day 13; and none of 14, 5, and 6 animals on day 20, 27, and 78, respectively. Overall, MRSA was isolated from 6 of 26 (23%) animals during the outbreak period (4/22 dogs and 2/4 cats). The apparent incidence of MRSA acquisition in the ICU from days 1 through 13 was 20% (5/25 animals). No clinical signs of MRSA infections developed. All isolates were indistinguishable from one another. TREATMENT AND OUTCOME: Infection-control measures including active surveillance of all animals in the ICU, barrier precautions, and hand hygiene were used to control the apparent outbreak. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Methicillin-resistant S aureus is an emerging problem in veterinary medicine. Intensive care units may be at particular risk for periodic outbreaks of colonization and disease. The outbreak of this report highlights the potential for clinically inapparent transmission of MRSA within a facility; infection-control measures that might facilitate MRSA eradication should be considered in ICU settings.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to compare the carcass quality and meat tenderness of Hawaii cattle finished on subtropical pasture with those of mainland US feedlot-finished cattle that were shipped from Hawaii after weaning. Rib-eye steak samples were collected from 30 feedlot-finished cattle harvested at a slaughter house in Washington State, USA and from 13 subtropical pasture-finished cattle harvested at a local slaughter house in Hawaii, then shipped to meat science laboratory at the University of Hawaii, Manoa. Samples were aged for 2?weeks at 4°C and frozen for later proximate analysis and meat tenderness measurement. Feedlot-finished cattle had significantly heavier carcass weight (353 vs 290?kg) and thicker backfat (13.5 vs 6.6?mm), but no significant difference was observed in rib-eye area between the two groups. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) was isolated from five dogs with wound discharges after surgical procedures at a veterinary practice, and MRSA with similar molecular and phenotypic characteristics was isolated from the nares of one veterinary surgeon in the practice. The pulsed-field gel electrophoresis patterns of all the isolates were indistinguishable from each other and from the most common human isolates of MRSA in Ireland.  相似文献

[目的]通过屠宰分析和测定评价,明确张掖肉牛的屠宰性能和肉质风味,作为依据制定下一阶段的选育目标和选配方案。[方法]选择核心育种场育肥牛,检疫后定点集中屠宰测定分析;分割排酸取样,真空包装不同部位肉样带北京试验室根据相应的测定标准进行肉质评定。[结果]张掖肉牛公牛育肥至22.4月龄屠宰,活重、胴体重分别达635.4 kg,371.4 kg,产净肉303.66 kg;屠宰率、净肉率和胴体产肉率分别达58.48%,47.8%和81.76%;胴体脂肪覆盖度良好,肉色和脂肪颜色达到日本胴体分级标准中较高级别。牛肉肉质细嫩,高蛋白,低脂肪,但大理石花纹欠缺。熟肉制品风味独特,多汁性良好,与北京市场销售西门塔牛肉相比,具有较高的适口性和营养价值。[结论]张掖肉牛品种改良、培育成效显著,生产水平达到肉用牛标准,肉质风味能够满足目前的市场需求;若开拓高端牛肉市场,需着力大理石花纹的培育。  相似文献

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is an emerging problem in horses; however, the epidemiology of infection and colonization is poorly understood. This study evaluated factors associated with MRSA colonization at the time of admission to a veterinary teaching hospital. A case-control study evaluating historical factors was performed. Previous colonization of the horse, previous identification of colonized horses on the farm, antimicrobial administration within 30 days, admission to the neonatal intensive care unit, and admission to a service other than the surgical service were risk factors for community-associated colonization. A better understanding of risk factors for MRSA colonization is important to elucidate the epidemiology of this emerging veterinary and zoonotic pathogen, and to design evidence-based infection control programs.  相似文献

选择8~10月龄的关岭牛、西×关杂交牛(西门塔尔牛♂×关岭牛♀)、安×关杂交牛(红安格斯牛♂×关岭牛♀)、利×关杂交牛(利木赞牛♂×关岭牛♀)各8头,进行育肥生产雪花牛肉的试验研究。结果表明:在同一饲养管理条件下,西×关杂的宰前活重、屠宰率、净肉率、肉骨比值、眼肌面积、高档肉块重最高,依次为利×关杂、安×关杂、关岭牛;西×关杂组、利×关杂组、安×关杂组的宰前活重、眼肌面积和高档肉块重差异不显著(P〉0.05),但均显著高于关岭牛组(P〈0.01);关岭牛组和安X关杂组的肌内雪花状脂肪含量均为3级,优于西×关杂组和利×关杂组;综合评价关岭牛组和安×关杂组的胴体等级均为3A级,西×关杂和利×关杂的胴体等级均为2A级。结果显示,关岭牛虽然产肉性能不高,但机体内并不缺少优秀的遗传基因,具备选育成优质高产肉牛品种的种质基础。  相似文献

皮埃蒙特牛产于意大利的皮埃蒙特地区,是优质的肉用牛品种,具有屠宰率高,优质肉比率高,皮下脂肪少,瘦肉率高,肉质细嫩等特点,因而皮埃蒙特牛的育种工作也备受关注。一直以来,皮埃蒙特牛的育种组织工作由ANABORAPI协会统一管理,开展皮埃蒙特牛的良种登记,后裔测定,冻精生产及推广,后备种牛培育等工作。育种目标也集中在肉用早熟性和母牛产犊顺利方面。本文主要对皮埃蒙特牛的品种、育种组织和育种方案做出介绍。  相似文献

Cattle transported to the government-run cattle market and slaughter slab in Akinyele, Oyo State, Nigeria on their final voyage are facing a disturbingly cruel, filthy and unsafe environment that is also raising the risk of contamination of meat sold for human consumption. This report gives a picture of what the cattle have to go through before they are slaughtered. This study also reveals cattle awaiting slaughter in abysmal health conditions, cows pulled with extreme force towards lairage and slaughter slab. Equally disturbing is the filthy situation inside the abattoir where the risk of contamination of meat is significant. Also, poor meat handling, transportation and sales practices subject meat to contamination leading to poor quality and exposure of human consumers to health risk. Development of hygienic slaughter slab operations, improved transportation system for both livestock and meat is therefore recommended; not only for Akinyele, but all abattoirs and slaughter slabs in Nigeria.  相似文献

[目的]为了进一步说明肉牛杂交改良效果和经济效益。[方法]对西门塔尔(西门塔尔牛×蒙古牛杂交F2代)与蒙古牛育成母牛进行了本次屠宰对比试验。[结果]宰前活重、屠体重、净肉重的P值分别为0.000、0.000和0.001,两组差异极显著(P〈0.01)。[结论]西门塔尔育成母牛较蒙古牛育成母牛产肉性能提高较大,而近一段时间牛肉肉价一直处于较高的水平,改良牛会产生更高,更明显的收益。  相似文献
