This study was performed to evaluate the osteogenic effect of allogenic canine umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UCB-MSCs) mixed with beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) in orthotopic implantation. Seven hundred milligrams of β-TCP mixed with 1 × 106 UCB-MSCs diluted with 0.5 ml of saline (group CM) and mixed with the same volume of saline as control (group C) were implanted into a 1.5 cm diaphyseal defect and wrapped with PLGC membrane in the radius of Beagle dogs. Radiographs of the antebrachium were made after surgery. The implants were harvested 12 weeks after implantation and specimens were stained with H&E, toluidine blue and Villanueva-Goldner stains for histological examination and histomorphometric analysis of new bone formation. Additionally, UCB-MSCs were applied to a dog with non-union fracture. Radiographically, continuity between implant and host bone was evident at only one of six interfaces in group C by 12 weeks, but in three of six interfaces in group CM. Radiolucency was found only near the bone end in group C at 12 weeks after implantation, but in the entire graft in group CM. Histologically, bone formation was observed around β-TCP in longitudinal sections of implant in both groups. Histomorphometric analysis revealed significantly increased new bone formation in group CM at 12 weeks after implantation (p < 0.05). When applied to the non-union fracture, fracture healing was identified by 6 weeks after injection of UCB-MSCs. The present study indicates that a mixture of UCB-MSCs and β-TCP is a promising osteogenic material for repairing bone defects.  相似文献

beta-Tricalcium phosphate (TCP) was evaluated as a synthetic bone grafting material in horses. Sixteen horses were randomly assigned to 4 groups of 4 horses. In each horse, an 11-mm by 10-mm circular defect with a smooth margin was created surgically in the weight-bearing surface of both third metacarpal bones (McIII) and the left third metatarsal bone. The defect in the left McIII was filled with TCP, the defect in the right McIII was filled with a mixture of 50% autogenous cancellous bone (ACB) and 50% TCP, and the defect in the left third metatarsal bone was not filled to serve as a control. Nuclear imaging and radiographic evaluation of surgical sites were performed at postsurgical week (PSW) 4 and 13 in group-I horses and at PSW 26, 39, and 52 in groups-II, -III, and -IV horses, respectively. Horses in groups I, II, III, and IV were euthanatized at PSW 13, 26, 39, and 52, respectively, and specimens were harvested for histologic evaluation. Results were compared among treatment methods, as well as among time intervals. The greatest activity at defect sites was seen in group-I horses at PSW 4. Activity counts in limbs of group-I horses at PSW 13 and counts in limbs of group-II horses at PSW 26 were not significantly (P less than or equal to 0.05) different. Activity counts in groups-III and -IV horses at PSW 39 and 52, respectively, were less than those in groups I and II. Hemochromatosis is an inherited defect in Salers cattle, characterized by increased iron absorption and wasting in young animals. Loss of teeth and soft bones has been reported. This study details bone changes in a prospective study of an affected Salers heifer and an age-matched, half-sibling control. The heifer fell 2 weeks before euthanasia, developed non-weight bearing lameness, and then became recumbent. At necropsy, the heifer was smaller than the control and had fractures of the humerus, femur, and ribs. Distinctive circumferential laminations in the outer third of the cortex were seen radiographically as layers of variably decreased density. In midshaft cross sections, the cortex was wider in some long bones, and fluorescent labeling revealed irregular and intermittent mineralization in the outer cortical layers. Mineral apposition rates in osteons of the inner cortex were decreased as compared with the control, and longitudinal bone formation at the growth plate was markedly decreased. Histologically, there were buried layers of osteopenic, poorly mineralized plexiform bone in outer circumferential lamellae. There was stainable iron in woven bone cores of the matrix. Iron was found in occasional osteoclasts as well. The mandible was severely affected, with loss of cortical bone as well as trabecular bone around the teeth and resorption of dental roots. Bone analysis revealed iron levels in the affected calf that were 30-50 times greater than the control and decreased percent ash in the outer cortex. These results indicate that periosteal dysplasia and osteopenia are responsible for pathologic fractures and tooth loss.  相似文献

A standardized cortical defect was created on the caudal cortex of the proximal portion of each ulna in 5 adult mixed-breed dogs. One gram of autogenous cancellous bone graft (ACBG) was obtained from the greater tubercle of the ipsilateral humerus. The cortical defect in the ulna of 1 limb was filled with 1 g of ACBG that had been compressed with 2-MPa pressure for 30 seconds. One gram of noncompressed ACBG was placed into the contralateral ulnar cortical defect. The compressed and noncompressed ACBG recipient sites were radiographed at weekly intervals. Dogs were euthanatized 8 weeks after surgery, and the ACBG recipient sites were harvested for histomorphometric analysis. Optical densitometry was performed on all radiographs. There was no significant difference between compressed and noncompressed ACBG with optical densitometry or histomorphometric analysis for total bone area. We concluded that there was no difference in osteogenic capability between compressed and noncompressed ACBG of equal mass.  相似文献

This study was exclusively conducted to evaluate healing of surgically created defects on the radius of adult Black Bengal goat after implantation of porous bioglass blocks and compare the process kinetics with normal healing. Twelve Black Bengal goats were divided randomly into two groups: control and experimental group implanted with bioglass blocks. Unicortical bone defects in radius were generated in all animals under aseptic condition. Local inflammatory reaction and healing of wound, radiological investigations, histological studies, oxytetracycline leveling and angiographic studies were performed up to 90th day post-operatively and compared with normal healing. It has been found that extensive new bone formation originating from host bone towards the implant whereas in control, the process was active from both the ends; the defect site appeared as homogenous nonfluorescent area. Thus, porous bioglass promoted bone formation over the entire extension of the defect independent of size of block in comparison to control group.  相似文献

The age dependent development of the long bones' diaphyses (humerus, os femoris and os tibiofibulare) was examined macroscopically, morphometrically and histologically using 15 White New Zealand Rabbits (WN) and 15 Chinchilla-Bastard-Experimental-Rabbits (Chbb) in 5 different age groups. The main growth of bone occurs in the first three months of life. The remodelling from juvenile to adult bone began in the period from the 4th-12th week. The different bones show various characteristic remodelling zones for each localization. Until the 12th week the resorption of juvenile bundled bone predominates. Afterwards an increasing bone formation by osteal bone can be observed. The bone growth is terminated between the 17th and 33rd week. The os tibiofibulare in both breeds represents the major part of the compact bone area on the whole cross-section area. Principally the bone-remodelling process proceeds equally in both breeds. Breed dependent differences in the adult bone are seen in the construction of the circumferential lamellae. These are formed considerably more irregularly by the Chbb-rabbits than by the WN-rabbits.  相似文献

The biocompatibility and osteoconductive properties of biocompatible osteoconductive polymer (BOP), a synthetic implant, were evaluated. Bilateral oval cortical defects (1 x 2 cm) were made in the lateral subtrochanteric area of the proximal portion of the femur in 16 dogs that later were treated with BOP fiber (n = 16) or autogenous cancellous bone (n = 11), or were not treated (n = 5). The BOP block was attached extraperiosteally to the proximal portion of the humerus in 6 dogs. Radiographic assessment of surgery sites was performed at 4-week intervals, and histologic evaluation was performed at 4, 8, 16, and 24 weeks after surgery. Radiographic signs of bone healing were not observed in defects treated with BOP fiber. Defects treated with cancellous bone or not treated had radiographic signs of progressive bone ingrowth. Radiographic evidence of periosteal new bone formation near control and BOP-treated defects was observed 4 weeks after surgery; increased periosteal reaction was associated with BOP fiber. This new bone had resorbed by week 24, except bone adjacent to BOP fiber, where continued periosteal reaction was apparent. Histologic evidence of bone formation was observed extending to, but not incorporating, BOP fibers. The BOP fibers became surrounded by a fibrous capsule, and fibrovascular connective tissue infiltrated between and into BOP fibers, but minimal bone formation incorporated the BOP material during the follow-up period. During that time, active periosteal new bone formation was evident adjacent to the BOP fibers. Defects treated with cancellous bone or not treated healed by ingrowth of cancellous bone during the first 12 weeks after surgery and by reformation of the lateral cortical wall by week 24. The BOP blocks became surrounded by a fibrous capsule, but connective tissue or bone ingrowth into BOP blocks was not observed. Results indicate that BOP is not osteoconductive within a 6-month time frame when used in subtrochanteric femoral defects or when placed extraperiosteally on the proximal portion of the humerus of clinically normal dogs.  相似文献

Adult dogs have a complex apical delta structure in all root apexes of teeth. This complex structure may affect the formation of apical lesions in the teeth such as apical abscesses. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of enamel matrix protein (EMP) which was used for periodontal regeneration therapy after an experimental apicoectomy for an assumed apical lesions of the teeth in dogs. The maxillar canine roots and maxillar fourth premolar buccal mesial roots in five beagles were experimentally apicoectomized under general inhalation anesthesia. After the root apex was exposed and excised, EMP was applied on the surface of the exposed dentin. After 12 weeks, dogs were euthanized. and the experimental teeth together with the surrounding soft and hard periodontal tissues were collected for histological evaluation under a light microscope. In the EMP group, the size of the defect where the root apex was removed was smaller than that of the control group. New cementum was dominantly achieved in the EMP group compared to the control group. Furthermore, new collagen fibers that bridged area between the new cementum and new alveolar bone were detected only in the EMP group. The present results demonstrated marked apical periodontal regeneration after apicoectomy in the EMP group. These results, therefore, suggest that the application of EMP can effectively induce the regeneration of periodontal strUctures in apicoectomized dogs.  相似文献

A 4.5 mm, six hole dynamic compression plate was applied to the lateral aspect of one femur in 16 dogs. The plate was luted with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) in eight dogs. Four dogs each from the luted and nonluted groups were euthanatized at weeks 5 and 10. Plated femurs were sectioned and processed for microradiography, microangiography, and correlated histology. At week 5, there was decreased vascularity in the outer one third of the cortex beneath luted plates and normal to increased vascularity in the inner two thirds of the cortex. Increased cortical porosity and a decreased percentage of osteocyte-filled lacunae were found in the cortex beneath luted plates at week 5. At week 10, vascularity was increased throughout the cortex under luted plates. Under nonluted plates, there was normal to increased vascularity at both time periods. Luting a bone plate with PMMA decreased vascularity to the outer one third of the cortex beneath the plate at week 5, and resulted in accelerated resorption of bone.  相似文献

The present study was undertaken to evaluate porous hydroxyapatite (HAp), the powder of which was prepared by a novel aqueous solution combustion technique, as a bone substitute in healing bone defects in vivo, as assessed by radiologic and histopathologic methods, oxytetracycline labeling, and angiogenic features in Bengal goat. Bone defects were created in the diaphysis of the radius and either not filled (group I) or filled with a HAp strut (group II). The radiologic study in group II showed the presence of unabsorbed implants which acted as a scaffold for new bone growth across the defect, and the quality of healing of the bone defect was almost indistinguishable from the control group, in which the defect was more or less similar, although the newly formed bony tissue was more organized when HAp was used. Histologic methods showed complete normal ossification with development of Haversian canals and well-defined osteoblasts at the periphery in group II, whereas the control group had moderate fibro-collagenization and an adequate amount of marrow material, fat cells, and blood vessels. An oxytetracycline labeling study showed moderate activity of new bone formation with crossing-over of new bone trabeculae along with the presence of resorption cavities in group II, whereas in the control group, the process of new bone formation was active from both ends and the defect site appeared as a homogenous non-fluoroscent area. Angiograms of the animals in the control group showed uniform angiogenesis in the defect site with establishment of trans-transplant angiogenesis, whereas in group II there was complete trans-transplant shunting of blood vessel communication. Porous HAp ceramic prepared by an aqueous combustion technique promoted bone formation over the defect, confirming their biologic osteoconductive property.  相似文献

Reports from oral surgeons suggested that packing bone defects with cellulose or collagen stimulated cancellous bone replacement. The study reported here was designed to evaluate a similar method for augmenting the remodeling of cancellous bone defects and graft donor sites. Gelatin sponge was implanted into bony defects created in the proximal humeral metaphysis of 5 adult Beagles after collection of cancellous bone. A similar defect created in the contralateral humerus was left unpacked. Four months after creation of the defect, the dogs were euthanatized, and the surgical sites were evaluated by use of correlated microradiographic and histologic examination. Unpacked sites had filled completely with loosely woven trabecular bone. Remodeling had not taken place in sites packed with gelatin sponge. Gelatin sponge did not elicit any reaction in the surrounding bone, but remained in situ and obstructed new bone formation. Gelatin sponge blocked rather than augmented cancellous bone replacement.  相似文献

An animal model for interface tissue formation in cemented hip replacements   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
OBJECTIVE: To create a model in sheep for investigation of early changes related to the formation of an interface membrane in hip prosthesis. STUDY DESIGN: Experimental study. ANIMALS: Twenty-four female adult Swiss Alpine sheep. METHODS: Sheep were divided into 2 groups of 12 for unilateral cemented total hip arthroplasty. In Group I, the prosthesis was fixed with retrograde cement gun injection to achieve a complete cement mantle, whereas in Group II a primary cement mantle defect was produced. Groups I and II were further divided into 2 sub-groups with study end points of 2 and 8.5 months after surgery. Radiographs were evaluated postoperatively and at euthanasia for migration of the femoral component and bone resorption. Histologic sections were evaluated semiquantitatively for changes in cell types and numbers, and bone reactions; and quantitatively for size of interface membrane and new bone formation. RESULTS: Radiographically, there tended to be an increase in bone resorption and periosteal bone formation throughout the femoral shaft in Group II compared with Group I, but this was only statistically significant at the region of the femoral neck (R5) at both time periods (P<.05). Semiquantitative histologic evaluation revealed significant increases (P<.05) in cellularity, numbers of fibroblasts, giant cells, macrophages, and mononuclear cells, in Group II primarily at 2 months after surgery. This was also true for interface membrane formation and bone remodeling. Quantitative data showed an increased in the size of the interface membrane and area of bone formation at 8.5 months in Group II. CONCLUSIONS: The cement defect model offered controlled and repeatable production of an interface membrane. The results suggest that a primary cement mantle defect could be a possible trigger for implant instability, eliciting a cascade of biomechanical and molecular events in bone tissue leading to aseptic loosening. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: The results show the effect of defects in the cement mantle in promoting interface membrane formation. Long-term and biochemical studies are required to evaluate the relevance of this interface membrane formation.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to provide a method for evaluating bone toxicity induced by drugs in various bones in aged rats. Male Crl:CD (SD) rats at 46 weeks of age were administered 15 mg/m(2) body surface area of doxorubicin, which effects the growth plate in weanling rats, weekly for 9 weeks by intravenous injection, and the femur, sternum, humerus and tibia were examined histopathologically. In the doxorubicin-treated group, thinning of the growth plate was remarkably observed in the proximal tibia and humerus; however, these changes were not observed in other regions. In addition, the osteoclast number per bone perimeter in the proximal tibia was significantly higher than others in control aged rat. Thus, recognizing the various histological reactions related to the time of epiphyseal closure is important for evaluating bone toxicity in aged rats.  相似文献

Lameness in breeding-age gilts and sows is a major cause of culling, resulting in increased economic losses and welfare concerns. This study determined if exercise during gestation would affect the musculo-skeletal system, production variables, and behavior. Gilts were blocked by BW and assigned to 1 of 3 treatment groups: control (n = 10; no exercise), low exercise (n = 14; 122 m/d for 5 d/wk), and high exercise (n = 14; 122 m/d for 2 d/wk and 427 m/d for 3 d/wk). All gilts were stall-housed during gestation, and gilts were exercised between d 35 and 110 of gestation. Lameness score, BCS, BW, and blood were taken at multiple points before gestation, and during gestation and lactation. Blood serum was analyzed for carboxy-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen. Sow lying behavior was recorded for 3 d after farrowing. Farrowing data included litter weight and size at birth and weaning, and preweaning mortality. After weaning, 38 sows were slaughtered and muscles and the bones of the left fore- and hind-limbs were harvested. Bone density and quality were determined by computed tomography (CT) scans, dual energy x-ray scans, and bone-breaking force tests. The control group took longer to lie down than both exercise groups, and the low exercise group took longer to lie down than the high exercise group (P < 0.05). The number of pigs weaned was greater in the high exercise group than the control group (P < 0.05). Piglet preweaning mortality was greatest in the control group compared with both exercise groups (P < 0.05). The low exercise treatments exhibited a greater bone density (CT) in the humerus, radius, and tibia compared with that of the control group (P < 0.05). The bone density (CT) of the humerus in the low exercise group was greater than that of the high exercise group (P = 0.03). Breaking force in the humerus and femur was greater (P < 0.05) in the low exercise group than the control group. Breaking force in the tibia of the high exercise group was greater than the control group (P = 0.01). The tibia of both the low and high exercise groups had a greater breaking force (P < 0.05) than the control group. Although there was no benefit of exercise on lameness, differences in bone density and quality, lying behavior, and piglet survivability may provide useful insight into alternative housing for sows.  相似文献

The proximal portion of the femur was evaluated as a source of autogenous cancellous bone in dogs. Bilateral oval cortical defects were created in the lateral subtrochanteric area of the femur in 16 dogs. Cancellous bone was removed and the weight recorded. Cancellous bone was similarly harvested from the proximal portion of the humerus in 7 of these dogs. Subtrochanteric femoral defects in 11 dogs were randomly assigned to receive cancellous bone graft obtained from the femur (n = 4) or the humerus (n = 7). Subtrochanteric defects in 5 dogs were not grafted. Radiographic assessment of subtrochanteric defects was performed at 4-week intervals, and histologic assessment at 4, 8, 16, and 24 weeks after surgery. Nongrafted donor sites healed by ingrowth of trabecular bone during the first 12 weeks after surgery. By week 24, the lateral cortical wall had reformed, but remodeling was incomplete. Donor sites grafted with cancellous bone healed similarly, but with more rapid healing and more complete remodeling evident by week 24. Although the mean weight of cancellous bone harvested from the proximal portion of the femur (0.82 +/- 0.22 g) was significantly (P less than 0.05) less than that harvested from the proximal portion of the humerus (1.38 +/- 0.29 g), there was no qualitative histologic or radiographic difference in bony healing of grafted defects. We determined that the proximal portion of the femur can be safely used to provide moderate amounts of cancellous bone, and that a second bone graft can be collected from the same subtrochanteric donor site after 12 weeks.  相似文献

The study was carried out in 5 farms on 174 pregnant heifers. Clinical examination of the udder and bacteriological tests of quarter secretion were performed between the 8th and 3rd week before parturition, and then the animals were divided into a control group (64 heifers) and 3 experimental groups and immediately treated. A group of 32 experimental heifers was injected once with antioxidants (Vitamin A--600,000 i.u.; Vitamin D3--200,000 i.u.; Vitamin E--1.5 mg/kg b.w., Selenium--0.022 mg/kg b.w., i.m.). The next group (26 heads) was intramammary infused with antibiotic DC product (cloxacillin). Heifers from last experimental group (52) were injected with lysosyme dimer in a single dose of 0.02 mg/kg b.w. Clinical and bacteriological examinations were made during the first week after calving. The presence of bacteria was found in secretion of 22.6-38.9% udder quarters in 56.2-71.2% of pregnant heifers. The number of infected quarters (cows) did not change distinctly in the first week after calving except the lysozyme dimer group, where a decrease by 30% was noted. The percentage of quarters with elevated somatic cell count was higher in antibiotic DC group and closely similar in the other groups. None of examined methods showed an acceptable prophylactic effect. Clinical mastitis cases during first week after parturition were mostly caused by Escherichia coli, Staph. chromogenes, Staph. simulans, Staph. aureus, Staph. hyicus, Str. uberis, Str. acidominimus and Enterococcus faecalis.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: To describe a technique for collecting cancellous bone graft from the proximal humerus in horses. STUDY DESIGN: Prospective evaluation of an experimental bone graft collection technique. ANIMAL POPULATION: Eight horses, 3-15 years, weighing 495-605 kg. METHODS: Horses were anesthetized and positioned in lateral recumbency. The lateral aspect of the proximal humerus was exposed by a 7-10-cm incision extending distally from the greater humeral tubercle, followed by sharp dissection through the omotransversarius muscle and between the infraspinatus and deltoideus muscles. A 12-mm cortical defect was incrementally created in the lateral proximal humerus. Human bone graft harvesting equipment (Acumed, Beaverton, OR) was drilled through this defect to collect a core of cancellous bone. In five horses additional cancellous bone was then collected with conventional instruments. Bone samples were weighed and histologically examined. Horses were monitored and graded for quality of anesthetic recovery, incisional complications, and postoperative lameness. RESULTS: Total mean (+/-SD) surgical time for harvesting bone with the Acumed system and traditional techniques (n=5) was 38+/-6 minutes (range, 32-47 minutes). Mean cancellous bone weight collected with the Acumed system was 3.6+/-0.8 g (range, 2.0-4.6 g), and cancellous bone collected conventionally was 25.6+/-7.5 g (range, 16.8-34.2 g). Minimal incisional complications or postoperative lameness were observed. Mortality was 12.5%; one horse fractured the operated humerus during anesthetic recovery. CONCLUSION: The Acumed system provided limited cancellous bone when used with the technique described. However, the quantity of cancellous bone collected with traditional harvesting instruments was comparable to other sites used in horses. The procedure was associated with minimal postoperative incisional complications or lameness, but because one horse suffered a catastrophic humeral fracture further research is required to assess the effects of this procedure on humeral breaking strength. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Based on the risk of catastrophic fracture, this technique cannot be recommended for use in clinical cases, especially if an unassisted recovery from general anesthesia is planned.  相似文献

为研究中药骨疏康对蛋鸡骨代谢的影响,选择90只58周龄的蛋鸡,随机分为3组。对照组饲喂基础日粮,骨疏康组在基础日粮中添加1%的骨疏康,依普拉芬组在基础日粮中添加25mg/kg的依普拉芬。试验为期90d。结果显示,与对照组比较,骨疏康组和依普拉芬组血清Ca、P、AKP、TRACP、BGP水平显著降低,肱骨、胫骨、股骨的骨指数、骨放射密度、皮质骨厚度、皮质骨面积、皮质骨面积比例以及血清中IGF-1水平显著升高,而骨疏康组与依普拉芬组之间无显著差异,表明骨疏康能显著抑制产蛋后期蛋鸡的骨吸收,促进骨形成,改善骨代谢。  相似文献

Bioactive substances including taurine, l-carnitine, polyunsaturated fatty acids, flavonoids and antioxidants were shown to influence the perinatal development of a majority of mammalian systems, nervous, gastrointestinal, immune, etc. A blend of bioactive substances and plants was composed to supplement sow feedstuff, and our study aimed to examine the bone parameters in their offspring. Control sows were fed with a standard diet alone (n = 6). The sows from the supplemented group (n = 6) received the supplementation from the gestation day 80 until the end of lactation. From each sow two piglets were sacrificed, one at 7 d and the second at 28 d of life. The femur and humerus were isolated, bone mineral density and mineral content were determined using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. Bone maximum strength and elastic force were determined by a three-point bending test. No differences in the body weight were found. At day 7, the bones of piglets from the supplemented group were characterized by higher weight, physical parameters and bone mineral content as compared to control, no difference in length and bone mineral density was observed. At day 28, no differences in humerus parameters were found as well as in femur mineral density and mineral content. However, in relation to the body weight, the weight and physical parameters of femur were higher in the supplemented group as compared to control. In conclusion, the supplementation of sow diet with bioactive substances influenced the development of bones in their offspring.  相似文献

Fracture is one of the most life-threatening injuries in horses. Fracture repair is often associated with unsatisfactory outcomes and is associated with a high incidence of complications. This study aimed to evaluate the osteogenic effects of gelatin/β-tricalcium phosphate (GT) sponges loaded with different concentrations/ratios of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) in an equine bone defect model. Seven thoroughbred horses were used in this study. Eight bone defects were created in the third metatarsal bones of each horse. Then, eight treatments, namely control, GT, GT/M-5, GT/M-6, GT/M-5/B-1, GT/M-5/B-3, GT/M-6/B-1, and GT/M-6/B-3 were applied to the eight different sites in a randomized manner (M-5: 2?×?105 MSCs; M-6: 2?×?106 MSCs; B-1: 1 μg of BMP-2; B-3: 3 μg of BMP-2). Repair of bone defects was assessed by radiography, quantitative computed tomography (QCT), and histopathological evaluation. Radiographic scores and CT values were significantly lower in the control group than in the other groups, while they were significantly higher in the GT/M-5/B-3 and GT/M-6/B-3 groups than in the other groups. The amount of mature compact bone filling the defects was greater in the GT/M-5/B-3 and GT/M-6/B-3 groups than in the other groups. The present study demonstrated that the GT sponge loaded with MSCs and BMP-2 promoted bone regeneration in an equine bone defect model. The GT/MSC/BMP-2 described here may be useful for treating horses with bone injuries.  相似文献
