The sour cherry cv. ‘Kütahya’ is one of the most produced cultivars in Turkey. This study was conducted with cultivar ‘Kütahya’ cultivated on Prunus mahalep both 2010 and 2011 years. In this study, the effects of Bacillus mycoides T8 and Bacillus subtilis OSU-142 bacteria strains on yield, fruit properties and plant growth was aimed to investigate. Floral and foliar applications of T8, OSU-142 and T8+OSU-142 on sour cherry significantly increased the yield per tree, shoot length and leaf area, compared with the control. The highest shoot length was found in the T8+OSU-142 (51.74 cm) application while the least value was found in the control (46.71 cm). The yield increased from 8.229?kgtree?1 (in control) to 13.663 (T8 application) and to 11.660?kgtree?1 (T8+OSU-142 application) in average of two years. The results of the present study suggested that Bacillus T8 and Bacillus OSU-142, alone or in combination, have a great potential for the enhancement of yield and plant growth of sour cherry and therefore they have been suggested in growth promotion in sour cherry cultivation.  相似文献

AIM:To observe the effects of methionine-induced hyperhomocysteinemia on protein C(PC),ant ithrombin-(AT-)and von willebrand factor(vWF).METHODS:Eighteen New Zealand rabbits were randomized as methionine group(group M,n=9)and control(group C,n=9),which were fed with methionine-rich diet(600 mg/d)and regular diet respectively for sixteen weeks.By the end of sixteen weeks,the serum biochemistry and PC,AT-and vWF in plasma were determined and vWF expression of endothelial cel s of aorta were examined.RESULTS:In group M,the levels of methionine(29.97±5.34 mol/L)and homocysteine(13.30±2.19mol/L)in serum were signif icantly higher than those(14.48±1.97 mol/L and 5.36 1.19 mol/L,respectively,P<0.01)of group C.The levels of AT-and PC of group M were signif icantly lower than those of group C(P<0.01).The level of vWF in plasma of group M was higher than that of group C(P<0.01).Immunohisto chemistry showed that vWF expression in endothelial cells of aorta was decreased.CONCLUSION:Methionine-induced hyperhomocysteinemia had promot ive ef ects on coagulat ion and inhibiting effects on antioagulation.  相似文献

Summary

Growth, yield, and leaf nutrient concentrations were measured in ‘Hass’ avocado (Persea americana Mill.) trees grown on one of ten clonally-propagated rootstocks (‘Borchard’, ‘D9’, ‘Duke 7’, G1033, G755A, G755B, G755C, ‘Thomas’, ‘Topa Topa’, or ‘Toro Canyon’) over a 10-year period in southern California. After 10 years, trees on ‘Borchard’ were larger than trees on all other rootstocks. Trees on all rootstocks displayed an alternate-bearing pattern, typical of avocado. Alternate-bearing was most pronounced in trees grafted onto ‘Topa Topa’ and ‘Toro Canyon’. Rootstocks in the G755 series had the lowest alternate-bearing index, but also had the lowest yields.Trees on ‘Duke 7’ and ‘Borchard’ had the highest cumulative yields, and trees on G755A, G755B, and G755C had the lowest yields. Differences in yield were due to differences in the number of fruit per tree, not individual fruit weight. When yield was evaluated in terms of canopy efficiency (kg fruit m–3), no rootstock outperformed ‘Duke 7’, the industry standard rootstock. Leaf concentrations of all nutrients examined (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Zn, Cl, Mn, B, Fe, and Cu) were within, or close to the recommended ranges. P, Ca, and S were higher, and Fe was lower in high-yielding years in all rootstocks.  相似文献

Summary

Studies were conducted to evaluate the effects of drought during flowering for both container- and field-grown trees, and during fruit development for container-grown trees, on subsequent growth, flowering, yield and quality of the custard apple ‘African Pride’ in subtropical Australia. Moderate drought (ψL=–1.5 MPa) reduced shoot growth by 20–30% and increased the number of flowers per lateral by about 40% compared with well-watered controls due to reduced apical dominance and increased lateral branching. Overall fruit set was not adversely affected by drought. Drought also increased the number of fruit harvested per tree by 47% compared with well-watered controls. This response was mainly due to the increase in flower number per tree. Drought reduced average fruit size by 11% possibly due to effects on cell division in the first 4–6 weeks after fruit set or on net carbon assimilation. In summary, mild to moderate drought during the flowering period and fruit set increased flowering without adversely affecting fruit set, but decreased fruit size.  相似文献

AIM: To observe the effects of angiotensinⅡ (AngⅡ) and angiotensin-(1-7) on the expression of (pro)renin receptor in rat vascular smooth muscle cells.METHODS: The cultured VMSCs were randomly divided into control group, AngⅡ group, Ang-(1-7) group, AngⅡ+losartan (an AT1 receptor antagonist) group, AngⅡ+PD123319(an AT2 receptor antagonist) group and CGP42112A (an AT2 receptor agonist)group. The expression of (P)RR at protein and mRNA levels was detected by Western blotting and real-time PCR,respectively.RESULTS: Compared with control group, AngⅡ distinctly increased and Ang-(1-7) decreased the expression of (P)RR mRNA and protein in VMSCs in a dose-dependent manner (P<0.01). Compared with AngⅡ group, losartan did not inhibit the expression of (P)RR mRNA and protein in VMSCs induced by AngⅡ (P>0.05), but PD123319 did (P<0.01). CGP42112A also induced the expression of (P)RR protein and mRNA in VMSCs (P<0.01).CONCLUSION: AngⅡ induces the expression of (P)RR in VMSCs by AT2. However, Ang-(1-7) inhibits the expression of (P)RR in VMSCs.  相似文献

Summary

Total anti-oxidant capacity (TAC) and the contents of mono- and disaccharides, and organic acids were determined in strawberry fruit from ten genotypes sampled from eight experimental sites in Norway in 2002 and 2003. The difference between genotypes was significant for all recorded traits, and it appeared possible to select for all traits in breeding programmes. On average, the Norwegian bred cultivar ‘Carmen’ had a TAC of 30.07 mmol kg–1 fresh weight (FW), compared to 23.16 mmol kg–1 FW in the standard cultivar ‘Korona’. TAC was negatively correlated with fruit size, rainfall and leaf surface humidity, but was positively correlated with the minimum temperature on the day prior to sampling. Mono- and di-saccharide contents were negatively correlated with both minimum and maximum temperatures, and with wind velocity. It was confirmed that the sugars:organic acids ratio was inversely related to the maximum temperature on the day before harvest, which supports anecdotal claims that strawberries grown in northern areas have, on average, better flavour.  相似文献

Summary

‘Elstar’ is the latest-maturing commercial apple cultivar grown in Norway, with high fruit quality when properly managed. In May 2006, an experiment with four different crop loads [2, 4 ,6, or 8 flowers or fruitlets cm–2 trunk cross-sectional area (TCSA), respectively] was established at two different stages [first bloom (FB), or 20-mm diameter fruitlets] and compared to unthinned control trees. Fruit growth was measured on individual fruit for each treatment throughout the season at weekly intervals. Thinning at FB gave a significantly lower final percentage fruit set than thinning to the same cropping level at the 20-mm fruitlet stage. However, fruit weights and soluble solids contents (SSC) were significantly higher, and the background fruit colour improved when trees were thinned at FB. The final number of fruit at harvest was less than the amount established at FB, or at the 20-mm fruitlet stage. There were significant differences between treatments in final fruit numbers per TCSA, which reflected the different crop loads. Fruit weights and SSC values were highest with the lowest crop load, and decreased with increasing crop loads. There was also a strong crop-load effect on the extent of return bloom per tree in the subsequent year. Trees thinned at FB had significantly more flower clusters than those thinned at the 20-mm fruitlet stage of. Untreated control trees had the lowest number of flower clusters. The amount of return bloom declined with increasing crop load. Second year crop loads and fruit weights were highest when trees were thinned at FB to two or four apples cm?2 TCSA in the previous year. Trees with the highest crop load had the lowest crop load in the following year. Fruit quality was generally high for all treatments.  相似文献

In the present work, field measurement and simulation method were employed to investigate the effects of several green roofs variables on regional thermal environment in Chongqing (29°N, 106°E), China. Field experiments were conducted in two typical places. The real influence of green roofs on ambient environment was analyzed and compared with the simulation results. The software ENVI-met was employed to simulate 29 cases with different factors, including green roofs types, vegetation coverage, building height, arrangement position and regional layouts. With the aim to investigate the effect of the green roofs thoroughly, different design factors of green roofs were taken in consideration. From the aspect of cooling effect, it can be found that enclosing layout has the maximum air temperature drop, which is up to 0.5 °C. From the perspective of the uniformity of regional environmental temperature distribution, the regional thermal environment of scattered layout is better than enclosing and array layout as a whole. In addition, with the same vegetation coverage, the effectiveness of air temperature dropping of the whole region differed according to the arrangement position. Centrally arranging the green roofs upwind can effectively reduce the air temperature of the whole region. These findings can be used to improve the regional thermal environment by designing the green roofs reasonably.  相似文献

The development of hermaphrodite cultivars of kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa) to overcome dioecism is a priority for all breeding programmes, worldwide. If successful, the number of pollinators in the orchard could be reduced, allowing more space for reproductive vines. Hermaphroditism and the expression of self-compatibility were studied in A. deliciosa, using the new kiwifruit cultivar, ‘Tsechelidis’, as a model. This plant material was chosen for investigation as its female flowers produced viable pollen. The aim of the present study was to investigate the expression and nature of self-compatibility in ‘Tsechelidis’ and to evaluate its potential for breeding purposes. The expression of self-compatibility in ‘Tsechelidis’, between years, was investigated by controlled self-pollination of female flowers in the field and by microscopic studies on pollen viability in the laboratory. The commercial cultivar ‘Hayward’ and the pollinator ‘Matua’ were used as controls. Controlled self-pollination in the field confirmed that ‘Tsechelidis’ exhibited a degree of hermaphroditism and self-compatibility. Its flowers produced viable pollen and could set fruit of an acceptable size and quality after self-pollination, compared to open-pollinated fruit. The average fruit set percentage for ‘Tsechelidis’ was 34%, and ranked from 20% to 60% per vine, while the corresponding rate for ‘Hayward’ was only 4%. Microscopic studies on ‘Tsechelidis’ pollen revealed variations in pollen viability between different vines, which were even greater between different flowers on the same vine, ranging, in some cases, from 0% (absolutely sterile) to 70% (significantly fertile) per flower. Female control ‘Hayward’ vines were found to be practically sterile (0%), while male control ‘Matua’ vines were almost 100% fertile. The nature of self-compatibility in ‘Tsechelidis’ was investigated further by molecular analysis using the sex-linked sequence characterised amplified region (SCAR) markers, SmX, SmY, and SmY1, and by single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analysis. Hermaphroditism in ‘Tsechelidis’ was related to sex expression, as observed by SNP analysis, but complete genome mapping would be required to fully understand the mechanisms involved and to exploit this new genetic material for breeding purposes.  相似文献

AIM: To observe the effects of diosmin on the production of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-1β(IL-1β), IL-6, IL-8 and IL-10 in serum and kidney tissues of rats with kidney ischemia and reperfusion (I/R). METHODS: Sprague-Dawley rats (180 in total) were randomly divided into 3 groups including sham operation group (sham),I/R group and diosmin+I/R group (diosmin+I/R). At the end of the experiment, the blood and kidney tissues were obtained and TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8 and IL-10 were detected by ELISA. RESULTS: The levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8 and IL-10 in serum and kidney tissues in I/R group and diosmin+I/R group were significantly higher than those in sham group (P<0.01 or P<0.05). Following the development of the pathologic process, the level of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-8 was significantly increased in I/R group and diosmin+I/R groups, but the level of IL-10 was significantly decreased in I/R group and significantly increased in diosmin+I/R group. The levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-8 in I/R group was significantly higher than those in diosmin+I/R group (except TNF-α at 1 h in diosmin+I/R group). The level of IL-10 in diosmin+I/R group was significantly higher than that in I/R group (P<0.01 or P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Diosmin not only decreases the production of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-8, but also promotes the production of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10, suggesting that the protective effect of diosmin on kidney I/R injury was associated with anti-inflammatory mechanism.  相似文献

Summary

The effects of light, moderate, or heavy thinning (5, 10, or 20 cm between fruit, respectively), conducted before (7 d or 15 d), during, or after (7 d or 15 d) pit hardening (PH), on the incidence of split pits, fruit yield, fruit quality characteristics, and leaf mineral contents, were studied in the canning peach (Prunus persica L. Batsch.) cultivar ‘Andross’ over two growing seasons. The percentage of fruit with split pits increased by 58.2% in heavily-thinned trees compared with moderately- or lightly-thinned trees, and by 22.9% for the earliest time of thinning (15 d before PH) compared with thinning during, or after PH. Fruit fresh weight (FW) was greater in moderately- and heavily-thinned trees compared with lightly-thinned trees, but yields were similar among the different crop-load treatments. The latest time of thinning (15 d after PH) also had a negative impact on yield at first harvest and on total yield, fruit FW, and delayed fruit ripening compared to thinning during, and 15 d before PH. Total anti-oxidant capacities and phenolic contents were usually greater in fruit from heavily-thinned compared with lightly- or moderately-thinned trees only when thinning was conducted during, or 15 d after PH. Moreover, anti-oxidant levels were highest in fruit from the earliest-thinned trees. There was no significant effect of crop load, or of time of thinning application treatment on fruit colour, or on the K, P, Fe, Mn, and Cu contents of leaf tissues. In conclusion, light or moderate thinning during PH resulted in minimal split pits during processing, and in optimal yields and fruit quality characteristics in the canning peach cultivar ‘Andross’.  相似文献

Recent trends towards greater fresh market use of ‘Bartlett’ pears has increased the need to extend its storage life to prolong the packing and marketing season in the United States Pacific Northwest region. Sixteen and 38%, respectively, of control fruit developed senescence disorders following 5 and 6 months of storage at ?1.1°C. Commercial standard controlled atmosphere (CA) conditions (O2 at 1.5 kPa and CO2 < 1 kPa) or edible coating (Semperfresh?, SF) prevent the appearance of senescence disorders for 5 months, but 9% and 16% of fruit, respectively, developed senescence disorders after 6 months. The combination of CA+SF completely inhibited senescence disorders for 6 months. Treatment with CA and SF, alone or in combination, maintained high-storage quality and developed ripening capacity with characteristic melting texture during storage. Senescence disorders were inhibited for 6 months by 0.3 µL l?1 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP), alone or combination with CA or CA+SF. In part these pears developed ripening capacity after 6 months of storage. The combination of CA+SF+1-MCP maintained the highest storage quality with dark green colour and hard firmness, which might be associated and proportional with reductions in ethylene synthesis and respiration rate after long-term storage.  相似文献

A field experiment was conducted on mango (Mangifera indica L.) to study the effects of farmyard manure (FYM) on soil organic carbon (SOC) content and on the build-up of fertility over three growing seasons (2006–2007, 2007–2008, and 2008–2009) at Bhubaneswar, Orissa, India. Five treatments, including the application of FYM at 5.0 kg plant–1, 7.5 kg plant–1, or 10.0 kg plant–1, the recommended dose of a chemical fertiliser (RDF; N:P:K=75:20:60), and a non-fertilised control, were evaluated in a randomised block design. The results indicated that SOC contents increased significantly in the FYM-treated plots. The highest SOC density (554 g m–2) and stock (5.55 Mg ha–1) were recorded in the treatment with FYM at 10 kg plant–1. The rate of increase in SOC density was highest (193 g m–2 year–1) with FYM at 10 kg plant–1, and lowest in the untreated control (15 g m–2 year–1). Regular addition of FYM had a positive effect on the build-up of soil fertility. However, the greatest increases in soil N, P, K contents were in the 7.5 kg plant–1 FYM treatment (means = 319.9, 19.1, and 270.8 kg ha–1 for N, P, K, respectively). Farmyard manure significantly influenced the growth parameters of mango trees over the three seasons. There was a positive and linear relationship between increasing rates of application of FYM and trunk cross-sectional area.  相似文献

This study was conducted in 2007 and 2008 in order to determine the effects of irrigation frequency on the yield and quality parameters of dwarf trees of the apple cultivar ‘Gala, Galaxy’ in the first and second year of cultivation. Irrigation water was applied at 3?, 5?, 7?, and 10-day intervals as much as the amount of water consumed from the field capacity. Statistical analysis revealed that the effects of irrigation frequency on yield were significant. Since the trees used in the experiment showed mainly vegetative growth, the effects of irrigation frequency on the fruit quality characteristics varied. Irrigation water amount was applied as 355.7–446.5 mm and 359.2–538.9 mm to the experimental treatments in 2007 and 2008, respectively. The evapotranspiration measured was in the range 400.7–491.5 mm in 2007 but in the range 440.2–600.5 mm in 2008, while the yields in the same years ranged from 1.54 to 2.84 t ha?1 and from 2.61 to 6.06 t ha?1. Water use efficiency varied between 2.40 and 4.80 t ha?1mm?1 in the first year of the experiment but between 3.45 and 7.08 t ha?1mm?1 in the second year. The I2 treatment, in which the highest yield and water use efficiency were recorded in both years of the experiment under the experimental conditions, was determined as the irrigation scheduling.  相似文献

Summary

The effects of ‘cash’ [a novel 2:5:1 (w/w/w) mixture of calcium sulphate, ground sunflower heads, and humic acid] as a soil amendment on the growth, fruit yield, and leaf nutrient status of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) grown on reclaimed saline soil (EC = 9.4 dS m–1) were investigated. A glasshouse experiment was performed in a completely randomised design with six treatments (0, 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50 g ‘cash’ kg–1 soil) each with four replicates. The results indicated that ‘cash’ increased both the shoot dry weight (DW) plant–1 and the root DW plant–1, the free proline contents of leaves, and leaf chlorophyll contents. The use of ‘cash’ also increased the number of fruit plant–1, fruit yield pot–1, and fruit vitamin C contents, although total soluble solids (TSS) contents were not affected. The contents of nitrogen (N), potassium (K), and calcium (Ca), and the Ca:Na ratios of leaf tissues increased with all application rates of ‘cash’. Leaf phosphorus (P) contents showed no response to any applied level of ‘cash’. Leaf sodium (Na) contents declined gradually with an increase in the level of ‘cash’ applied to the soil. We concluded that ‘cash’ has a pronounced positive effect on the growth and fruit yield of tomato plants grown in reclaimed saline soil. ‘Cash’ therefore has the potential to be used as a soil amendment for vegetable crops such as tomato to overcome the adverse effects of salinity in newly-reclaimed soils.  相似文献

Plant growth regulators play a vital role in fruit growth and development. However, effects of compounds belonging to the group of brassinosteroids have not been fully investigated in sweet cherries. One relatively new and one commonly applied growth regulator, 22S, 23S-Homobrassinolide and GA3, respectively, were tested on ‘Summit’ and ‘Regina’ sweet cherries to determine the effects on fruit quality and physiological disorders. The substances were applied with a handgun sprayer at full bloom and at the beginning of fruit development (shuck split) for a 2-year period. GA3 was applied at the concentrations of 25, 50, 100 mgL?1 and 22S, 23S-Homobrassinolide at 0.05, 0.1, 0.5 mgL?1. A combined application of 100 mgL?1 GA3 + 0.1 mgL?1 22S, 23S-Homobrassinolide was also applied. Effects of GA3 and 22S, 23S-Homobrassinolide on fruit weight and size were evident for the concentrations applied and between the seasons for both of the cultivars. Combination of the both growth regulators and 100 mgL?1 GA3 alone produced longer fruits compared to the control trees in ‘Regina’. The 22S, 23S-Homobrassinolide applications increased the firmness of the flesh slightly, but not to a great degree, compared to the GA3 applications alone. The brightness of the red color was better with GA3 applications in ‘Summit’ and ‘Regina’. Brassinosteroid caused the fruits to have comparably dull red color. Total soluble solid contents of the cultivars were influenced by the substances and the year of the application. Stem resistance to separation from the fruit was under the influence of both treatments and seasons. In general, 22S, 23S-Homobrassinolide provided better stem resistance than the GA3 applications. There were no effects of the substances on the development of physiological disorders.  相似文献

Abstract

Producing strawberry transplants from runner tips that were plugged ~1 month earlier (early July) than the standard time (early August) promoted fall flowering in some short-day strawberry cultivars. In 2002,100% of ‘Chandler’ transplants produced in early July flowered in the fall, but none of the August-plugged ‘Chandler’ transplants flowered in the fall. In 2003, 73% of ‘Chandler’ transplants produced in mid-July from average-size runner tips and less than half of transplants from small-size runner tips flowered in the fall. Again, August-plugged plants did not flower in the fall. Flowering was absent in ‘Northeaster’ plants. Under protected cultivation, July-plugged ‘Sweet Charlie’ plants bloomed earlier and produced more fruit in November and December than those plugged in August. This study showed that fall flowering in ‘Chandler’ and ‘Sweet Charlie’ strawberry is possible if the transplants are prepared by plugging runner tips in early July. This novel technique for propagating strawberry transplants for annual plasticulture combined with production under high tunnels creates an opportunity for strawberry production in early winter and again in the spring (double cropping) in the mid-Atlantic coast region.  相似文献

AIM: To investigate the role of dual-specificity tyrosine phosporylation-regulated kinase 1A (Dyrk1A)-alternative splicing factor (ASF)-calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase Ⅱδ (CaMK Ⅱδ) pathway in the progression of myocardial hypertrophy in renovascular hypertensive rats. METHODS: The renovascular hypertension was induced by two-kidney one-clip (2K1C) method. The changes of blood pressure and myocardial hypertrophy were measured. The techniques of RT-PCR and Western blotting were used to detect CaMKⅡδ alternative splicing and the protein expression of Dyrk1A and ASF, respectively. RESULTS: Eight weeks after operation, systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in 2K1C rats increased (P<0.05). The increases in left ventricular weight (LVW), the ratio of LVW to body weight (BW) and the area of myocardial cells indicated that the hypertensive rats developed significant cardiac hypertrophy. The protein expression of Dyrk1A and mRNA expression of CaMKⅡδA and δB were significantly increased, while the protein expression of ASF and mRNA expression of CaMKⅡδC were decreased compared with sham-operated control rats (P<0.05). Treatment with Dryk1A inhibitor epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) or harmine effectively attenuated cardiac hypertrophy and reversed the changes in the protein expression of Dyrk1A, ASF and alternative splicing of CaMKⅡδ (all P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Dyrk1A-ASF-CaMKⅡδ pathway plays a role in the development of myocardial hypertrophy in renovascular hypertensive rats.  相似文献
