Florida pompano has been identified as a promising candidate for commercial‐scale aquaculture production, but to date, little information is available regarding captive broodstock spawning characteristics. Genetic markers were tested for their power in monitoring mating outcomes and potential in analysing heritability of rapid growth trait in Trachinotus carolinus. A total of 20 unrelated adults (10 females and 10 males) were chosen for a hormone‐induced mass spawning event. The 515 fastest growing and 485 slowest growing fish of the total 4852 offspring were considered a selected progeny stock, and fish were collected at 45 days post hatch based on their growth traits. Parentage analyses based on the 20 breeders and 1,000 selected progeny were performed using a total of nine microsatellite markers, a 100% assignment rate was achieved, and a four‐marker set was the minimum number for the parentage assignment. The effective breeding number for the selected progeny was 11 (six females and five males), among which three females and two males were predominant contributors with the total contribution of 95.8% and 94.7% respectively. The proportion of fast‐growing offspring from broodfish and each mating cross (sire/dam) was used for detecting whether variation in growth of the offspring was related to parental stocks. Results showed that three adults and their mated combination exhibited the greatest fast‐growing offspring proportion (69.73% and 55.95%). This research provided new information regarding spawning performance and parental contribution during mass spawning events; both important first steps towards developing improved management strategies for captive Florida pompano broodstock.  相似文献

Parentage analysis is of vital importance for hatchery production and breeding programmes. Two multiplex PCR protocols including seven tropical spiny lobster (Panulirus homarus) microsatellites (Pho‐G06, Pho‐G25, Pho‐G53, Pho‐G62, Pho‐G74, Pho‐G89 and Pho‐G100) were introduced for parentage assignment. All loci were polymorphic with allele sizes from 113 to 337 base pairs (bp), observed alleles (k) from two to seven and polymorphic information content (PIC) of 0.25 to 0.73. Twenty‐four stage‐3 phyllosoma larvae (39 days posthatching) were collected for paternity exclusion study using selected microsatellites. Exclusion‐based parentage analysis unambiguously assigned 83% of fry (20 of 24) to a single female parent. Of ten putative female parents, five have contributed to the 20 allocated offspring, with one being true parent of 11. Four others were assigned to two or more potential female parents, probably due to genotyping error or the presence of null allele. The exclusion power (EP) for the seven loci varied between 13% and 54% with known genotypes of one parent (P1) and 19% and 71% for given the genotypes of both parents (P2). The theoretical combined parentage exclusion (cEP) power for all seven microsatellites was P1 = 95% and P2 = 99%. The power of discrimination for each locus varied between 0.18 and 0.86. This report presents the first study to utilize microsatellite markers for successful parentage assignment of P. homarus. The selected microsatellites provide a practical tool for parentage analysis in hatchery production of juveniles as well as in future commercial breeding programme of tropical spiny lobsters.  相似文献

为改良马氏珠母贝养殖群体性状,2010年4月,从马氏珠母贝选育系F3选择性腺成熟个体为亲本,建立了36个家系,按照常规技术进行幼体培育和海区养成.2010年11月,从36个家系中随机选取4个家系,每个家系取样30个个体,利用13对微卫星引物进行家系遗传结构和系谱鉴别分析.结果显示,(1) 13个微卫星引物在4个家系中共检测到39个等位基因,每个位点的等位基因数为2~5,4个家系的平均观测杂合度(Ho)为0.531 ~0.597,平均期望杂合度(He)为0.474 ~0.507;(2)根据子代基因型成功地推断出4个家系的亲本基因型,据此鉴别各个家系;用UPGMA法对120个样本进行聚类分析,98.3%的同一家系的子代个体能够聚到一起,分类结果与系谱来源基本一致.结果说明,这4个家系具有较高的遗传多样性和家系间具有明显的遗传分化;微卫星标记能有效地为马氏珠母贝群体的系谱分析提供技术支持.  相似文献

Abstract The Australian native freshwater fish Murray cod, Maccullochella peelii pellii (Mitchell), currently supports a fledgling inland aquaculture industry, which is thought to have considerable growth potential. The aim of this study was to evaluate the suitability of two alternate protein sources [blood meal (BM) and defatted soybean meal (SBM)] as substitutes for fish meal at various levels of inclusion in diets for juvenile Murray cod. The growth performance of juvenile Murray cod in response to nine isonitrogenous and isocalorific diets (50% protein, 14% lipid, 20.2 kJ g?1) consisting of a control diet in which protein was supplied from fish meal, and test diets in which the fish meal protein was substituted at levels of 8%, 16%, 24%, and 32% with BM or SBM was evaluated from a 70‐day growth experiment. The per cent apparent dry matter (% ADCdm) and percentage protein digestibility (% ADCp) of the test diets were also determined using Cr2O3 as a marker. Survival in all the SBM dietary treatments was high but that of fish on the BM dietary treatments was significantly (P < 0.05) lower than in all the other dietary treatments. Specific growth rate (% day?1) of Murray cod fed SBM incorporated diets ranged from 1.63 ±  0.06 to 1.78 ±  0.10 and even at the highest level tested (32% of the dietary protein from SBM) was not significantly different (P > 0.05) from the fish fed the control diet (1.65 ±  0.09). Feed conversion ratios of the SBM dietary treatments ranged from 1.36 ±  0.08 to 1.45 ±  0.07. The protein efficiency ratios and protein conversion efficiencies of Murray cod in the soybean meal treatments were also good and for a majority of the SBM diets were better than those for the control diet. Per cent ADCdm and ADCp of the SBM diets tested ranged from 70.6 ±  1.46 to 72.3 ±  1.81% and 88.6 ±  0.57 to 90.3 ±  0.17%, respectively, and was not significantly different (P > 0.05) from the control diet (% ADCdm 74.3 ±  1.63; % ADCp 91.3 ±  0.55). The reasons for significantly poor survival and growth of Murray cod reared on BM incorporated diets, and relatively poor digestibility of these diets are discussed. The study shows that for Murray cod diets in which fish meal protein is substituted up to 32% performance or carcass composition is not compromised.  相似文献

Pedigree information is essential for the genetic improvement of traits of interests in breeding programs. In this study, twelve microsatellite loci were selected to optimize three multiplex PCR protocols for parentage assignment in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella). One hundred and fifty adult fish and 252 progenies produced from three pilot groups (P1, P2, and P3) were used to examine the power of the three multiplex microsatellite PCR sets for parentage analysis. The average number of alleles (Na) per locus, observed heterozygosity (Ho), expected heterozygosity (He), and polymorphism (PIC) were 21.83, 0.883, 0.882, and 0.869, respectively. The combined exclusion power using all loci was greater than 99.99 %. Simulation analysis revealed a high assignment success rate (100 %). Parentage analysis of real offspring demonstrated that 99.6 % of all offspring were unambiguously allocated to single pairs of parents. Our results indicate that these three multiplex PCR sets could be used in pedigree reconstruction for grass carp breeding.  相似文献

Seven high polymorphic microsatellite loci were used to determine the pedigrees in a mass spawning of Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas, and to estimate the genetic variability between broodstock and offspring. Parental assignment was performed on a total of 155 individuals, including 141 offspring, 8 candidate mothers, and 6 candidate fathers. The assignment results of real offspring were generally in agreement with simulation with a success rate over 99% using only six of these loci. The allelic diversity and observed heterozygosity (Ho) exhibited similarity between parents and offspring populations, but the expected heterozygosity (He) had a significant decrease in offspring. Although all the males and females contributed to the next generation, the variances of reproductive success and unequal sex ratio resulted in a decline in effective population size (Ne = 11.42). The inbreeding rate of this small‐scale, mass spawning population was estimated at approximately 16.5% per generation. This gave us an insight that when designing breeding programs based on mass spawning for future oyster cultivation generations, the higher inbreeding and lower effective population size should be considered.  相似文献

We conducted a study to evaluate the effects of holding water temperature on the fecundity and egg quality of photo‐manipulated Atlantic cod broodstock. Adult cod Gadus morhua were distributed among several 25‐m3 tanks. Three separate photoperiods were used for each group to obtain three spawning per year (in May, July and December). While photoperiod was controlled, the temperature was not controlled and followed the ambient seasonal pattern. Due to the uncontrolled seasonal temperature used, each spawning group experienced different temperatures at a particular gonadal developmental stage. Otherwise, all groups were treated the same. Results showed that the May and July spawning groups released significantly more eggs per kg of fish (four and three times more respectively) than the December spawning group. The egg fertilization success and proportion of normal eggs were also higher in the May and July groups. Possible reason for the difference may be that the May and July groups experienced lower temperatures (4–7°C) during oocyte maturation and ovulation than the December group (7–9°C). Our results show the importance of using lower/natural temperatures during oocyte maturation and ovulation to obtain good quality eggs in photo‐manipulated cod broodstock.  相似文献

An industrial and experimental electrical method for stunning farmed Atlantic cod in air and seawater (SW), respectively, were compared. The impacts of sedation with AQUI‐S? and exercise to exhaustion before electrical stunning were also assessed to monitor the possible depletion of rested muscle energy levels by electrical stunning. Stress (blood glucose, haematocrit, muscle pH, muscle excitability, high‐energy phosphates and rigor mortis) and flesh quality (fillet texture, colour, liquid leakage (LL), gaping, residual blood and K‐value) were assessed. For the industrial stunning method, an average of 41 V, 0.2 A dc was applied to individual cod for 18–27 s. For the SW method, a bipolar square wave current (170 Hz, 33% duty cycle) was applied for 5 s. After stunning, recovery was prevented by exsanguination in chilled SW. There were no differences (P>0.05) between the two stunning methods except for a higher ultimate fillet pH for cod stunned in air 8 days postmortem. Exercise before stunning depleted muscle energy levels at slaughter, increased LL and fillets had redder and darker flesh after storage on ice for 8 days. Electrical stunning (in air) of AQUI‐S?‐treated fish partly depleted muscle energy levels (pH 7.3, ATP 18.7 μmol g?1, PCr 70.1 μmol g?1). However, flesh quality was not affected. Unless pre‐rigor filleting is the chosen processing strategy, electrical stunning of cod seems to be a promising stunning method.  相似文献

A century of tagging experiments on 174 Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) groups is reviewed and the frequency and spatial distribution of four migratory behaviours documented. Of all cod groups, 41% were categorized as sedentary, 18% as accurate homers, 20% as inaccurate homers and 20% as dispersers (ranging over large areas without recognizable return migrations). All behaviours occurred over the full spatial range of cod. Coastal groups did not differ significantly from offshore (shelf) groups in the relative frequency of migratory behaviours. However, the north‐east Atlantic had more sedentary and accurate homing groups than did the north‐west Atlantic, which had more dispersing groups. Overall, sedentary cod groups had lower maximum historical biomass than did other groups, confirming that migration/dispersal begets abundance. Maximum historical biomass was strongly related to the area occupied [log (biomass, tonnes)] = 1.58 log (range, km2) + 1.529; r2 = 0.9), irrespective of migratory type (for 23 major groups a total of 22 million tonnes over 3.3 million km2 with an average density of 7 tonnes km?2). Historical densities were not related to area occupied, although all large groups exhibited high densities (10–12 tonnes km?2 ; smaller groups had a wide range of density). The four migratory strategies in cod enable entrainment by diverse physical, oceanographic and biological ecosystem properties, and is key to cod success in the North Atlantic.  相似文献

Murray cod is a top‐order carnivore with high culture potential. Currently, there are no commercial diets formulated specifically for Murray cod. In this study, results of two growth trials on Murray cod (80–83.5‐g mean initial weight), conducted in commercial settings, using two laboratory‐formulated diets (DU1 and DU2; 48.9% and 49.1% protein, and 16.9% and 16.1% lipid, respectively, on a dry matter basis), and two commercial diets, formulated for other species (salmon – CD/S and barramundi – CD/B) but used in Murray cod farming are presented. The two commercial diets had less protein (46.6% and 44.4%) but higher lipid (21.7% and 19.5%). The energy content of the feeds tested was similar (about 20–22 kJ g?1). The growth performance and feed utilization of Murray cod did not differ significantly amongst the diets, but the food conversion ratio and % protein efficiency ratio in fish fed the DU1 and DU2 diets were consistently better. There was significantly less carcass and muscle lipid deposition in fish fed with the latter diets. Of the fatty acids in muscle, the lowest amounts (in μg mg lipid?1) of n‐3 (262.5±2.9), n‐6 (39.8±0.9) and polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) (302.3±3.8) were observed in fish fed CD/S, and the highest in fish fed DU2 and CD/B. Fatty acids 16:0 and 18:0, 18:1n‐9 and 16:1n‐7, and 22:6n‐3, 20:5n‐3, 22:5n‐3 and 18:2n‐6 were the dominant fatty acids amongst the saturates, monoenes and PUFA, respectively, and accounted for 80.8–88.7% of all identified fatty acids (23) in muscle of Murray cod. The study showed that Murray cod could be cultured successfully on a diet (DU2) containing 20% soybean meal without compromising growth and/or carcass quality. Differences in the proximate composition and fatty acid composition of muscle of wild and farmed Murray cod were observed, the most obvious being in the latter. Wild Murray cod had significantly less (P<0.05) saturates (192.6±1.84 vs. 266.3±3.51), monoenes (156.5±8.7 vs. 207.6±6.19), n‐3 (145.2±5.24 vs. 261.8±3.2) but higher n‐6 (144.3±2.73 vs. 48.3±1.38) in muscle (all values are in μg mg lipid?1) than in farmed fish. Wild fish also had a much lower n‐3 to n‐6 ratio (1.0±0.03 vs. 5.4±0.09).  相似文献

A newly synthetic allopolyploid strain (SAS) was selected and established from gynogenetic offspring of gibel carp clone A+ with 156 chromosomes induced by common carp sperm with 50 chromosomes. In this study, the allopolyploid strain was detected to contain 206 chromosomes, and the growth trait was evaluated to have 25.15% growth faster than that of clone A+. Genetic marker analyses of transferrin (Tf) alleles, ITS1 sequences and mtDNA D‐loop sequences indicated that the allopolyploid strain was synthetized from maternal gibel carp clone A+ and paternal common carp, and the synthetic chromosome sets were further confirmed by genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) and chromosome localization of 45S rDNA. Significantly, the synthetic allopolyploid strain has tended to be stable by five successive generations of gynogenesis, because it still keeps unisexual reproduction mode of gynogenesis. Therefore, it will become a novel variety for gibel carp aquaculture in future.  相似文献

Two control (C1 or first control generation, and C4 or fourth control generation) and three selected (S1 or first selected generation, S2 or second selected generation, S4 or fourth selected generation) stocks of Chitralada Nile tilapia were analysed for microsatellite variation to determine the effect of size‐specific mass selection on genetic variability. Genetic variation based on five microsatellite loci (UNH123, UNH147, UNH172, UNH222 and UNH216) showed a slightly higher allelic diversity in the selected stocks (7.4–10 alleles) than in the control stocks (6.8–8.8 alleles). Apparent reductions in the mean number of alleles and He values were noted in successive generations of both control and selected lines. Significant deviations from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium because of an excess of homozygotes indicated inbreeding in all control and selected stocks. Although estimated inbreeding levels were not significantly different among selected and control lines based on Welch's t‐tests, the increase in the degree of inbreeding within the selected line was higher (107.9%) than the control line (64.2%) after four generations. The implications of these results on the management and conservation of genetic diversity in improved breeds are discussed, while the importance of monitoring and minimizing inbreeding are likewise emphasized.  相似文献

Pacific cod (Gadus macrocephalus) is a commercially important species in Korea. However, overfishing in the 1990s caused a strong decline in catch, and in response, artificially cultured juveniles have been released annually to enhance the stocks. Cod fishing has recently increased in Korea, and the variation within the cod population necessitates the study of their genetic characteristics. In this study, we utilized two newly developed and eight previously reported microsatellite markers to examine the genetic characteristics of Pacific cod populations. We compared the genetic diversity and genetic structure of three cod populations from the Korean coasts with three populations from the North Pacific Ocean. Genetic differences were identified in the eastern sea cod population from Korea. These genetic differences included a large number of alleles per locus, a large number of unique alleles, higher frequencies of the most common alleles, and lower gene diversity compared to the other Korean populations. Additionally, the eastern sea cod population was genetically significantly differentiated from the southern and western sea populations in Korea, in which no significant genetic differentiation was detected (F ST = 0.033 and 0.031, respectively, P < 0.005).  相似文献

The current best practice intensive culture of larval Atlantic cod includes feeding rotifers from onset of exogenous feeding until 25–30 days after hatching. These larvae grow considerably slower and develop higher frequencies of deformities than larvae reared in semi‐extensive systems, using copepods as feed. The present study compares the micronutrient concentrations in rotifers with those of copepods, with the aim of identifying nutrients that may be limiting for normal growth and development of cod larvae. An additional criterion used is the nutrient requirements given for fish in general, by NRC (1993) , as nutrient requirements of cod remains to be determined. Rotifers were fed on four different diets, consisting of baker's yeast with cod liver oil (3.3 : 1 dry weight (DW)/v), baker's yeast with Algamac 2000TM (3.5 : 1 DW), baker's yeast with live algae Chlorella (4.1 : 1 DW), and Culture Selco 3000TM (CS). CS was a complete commercial diet for rotifers while the other diets are considered as based on raw ingredients. Compared with copepod nutrient levels, rotifers grown on yeast‐based diets supplemented with either cod liver oil, Algamac 2000 or Chlorella were apparently sufficient for covering the requirements in cod larvae for all the B‐vitamins, except thiamine. Rotifers cultured on the CS diet also had sufficient amounts of thiamine. Of the minerals, only calcium and magnesium were sufficient, using this criterion while iron was on the borderline. However, with reference to the requirements given for larger fish ( NRC 1993 ), only thiamine, vitamin A, manganese, selenium and perhaps copper, appear too low in the rotifers cultured without extra micronutrient supplementation. The other nutrients were present at levels intermediate between copepod and fish requirement levels. This study suggests that it is necessary to develop enrichment techniques to produce rotifers with sufficient amounts of all micronutrients. Such techniques will also be important tools for determining which nutrients are present at levels below the actual requirements in cod larvae.  相似文献

The efficacy of trout oil (TO), extracted from trout offal from the aquaculture industry, was evaluated in juvenile Murray cod Maccullochella peelii peelii (25.4±0.81 g) diets in an experiment conducted over 60 days at 23.7±0.8 °C. Five isonitrogenous (48% protein), isolipidic (16%) and isoenergetic (21.8 kJ g?1) diets, in which the fish oil fraction was replaced in increments of 25% (0–100%), were used. The best growth and feed efficiency was observed in fish fed diets containing 50–75% TO. The relationship of specific growth rate (SGR), food conversion ratio (FCR) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) to the amount of TO in the diets was described in each case by second‐order polynomial equations (P<0.05), which were: SGR=–0.44TO2+0.52TO+1.23 (r2=0.90, P<0.05); FCR=0.53TO2–0.64TO+1.21 (r2=0.95, P<0.05); and PER=–0.73TO2+0.90TO+1.54 (r2=0.90, P<0.05). Significant differences in carcass and muscle proximate compositions were noted among the different dietary treatments. Less lipid was found in muscle than in carcass. The fatty acids found in highest amounts in Murray cod, irrespective of the dietary treatment, were palmitic acid (16:0), oleic acid (18:1n‐9), linoleic acid (18:2n‐6) and eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5n‐3). The fatty acid composition of the muscle reflected that of the diets. Both the n‐6 fatty acid content and the n‐3 to n‐6 ratio were significantly (P<0.05) related to growth parameters, the relationships being as follows. Percentage of n‐6 in diet (X) to SGR and FCR: SGR=–0.12X2+3.96X–32.51 (r2=0.96) and FCR=0.13X2–4.47X+39.39 (r2=0.98); and n‐3:n‐6 ratio (Z) to SGR, FCR, PER: SGR=–2.02Z2+5.01Z–1.74 (r2=0.88), FCR=2.31Z2–5.70Z+4.54 (r2=0.93) and PER=–3.12Z2–7.56Z+2.80 (r2=0.88) respectively. It is evident from this study that TO could be used effectively in Murray cod diets, and that an n‐3:n‐6 ratio of 1.2 results in the best growth performance in Murray cod.  相似文献

Abstract – Native Murray cod (Maccullochella peelii peelii) are listed as a nationally vulnerable species, whereas non‐native common carp (Cyprinus carpio) are widespread and abundant. Understanding key aspects of life history, such as movement patterns and habitat selection by juvenile Murray cod and common carp, might be useful for conserving Murray cod populations and controlling common carp numbers. We used radio‐telemetry to track eight juvenile Murray cod and seven juvenile common carp in the Murray River, Australia, between March and July 2001. Common carp occupied a significantly greater total linear range (mean ± SD: 1721 ± 1118 m) than Murray cod (mean ± SD: 318 ± 345 m) and the average daily movement was significantly greater for common carp (mean ± SD: 147 ± 238 m) than for Murray cod (mean ± SD: 15 ± 55 m). All Murray cod and five of the seven common carp displayed site fidelity or residency to one, two or three locations. Murray cod were found only in the mainstream Murray River among submerged woody habitats, whereas common carp occurred equally in mainstream and offstream areas, and among submerged wood and aquatic vegetation. Murray cod were found in deeper (mean ± SD: 2.3 ± 0.78 m) and faster waters (mean ± SD: 0.56 ± 0.25 m·s?1) compared with common carp (mean ± SD: 1 ± 0.54 m; 0.08 ± 0.09 m·s?1) respectively. The presence of juvenile Murray cod only amongst submerged wood is an indication that these habitats are important and should be preserved. Conversely, juvenile common carp were equally present among all habitats sampled, suggesting that habitat selection is less specific, possibly contributing to their widespread success.  相似文献

The growth and feed utilization of Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) (437 g), Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) (485 g) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) (413 g) fed a diet (170 g kg−1 fat, 600 g kg−1 crude protein; LE) similar to that used in commercial cod production or one that was top dressed with additional fat (280 g kg−1 fat, 530 g kg−1 crude protein; HE), were compared in an 11‐week trial. In the cod, relative feed intake was 41–58% and thermal growth coefficient 63% of that in the salmonids, but the feed efficiency ratio (FER) was 38% better (P ≤ 0.05). In contrast to the cod where there was no effect of diet on feed intake, growth or FER, both the salmon and trout fed the HE diet had greater feed intake than those fed the LE diet, but the effect of this was only positive for growth in the salmon. The cod retained more of the digested nitrogen (44.9 ± 2.7%) than the salmon (39.4 ± 0.8%), and both of these species retained more than the trout (33.6 ± 1.1%) (P ≤ 0.05). The retention of digested energy was significantly higher in the salmon (52.2 ± 0.9%) than in the trout (44.8 ± 1.1%), with the cod (44.9 ± 4.9%) not different from either of the other species. There were no differences between the species in the retention of absorbed phosphorus (65.9 ± 3.6%). There were very few dietary effects on nutrient utilization in this trial and, for the cod, this indicates that higher energy diets may be feasible for use in production.  相似文献

In this study, we developed a multiplex microsatellite polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay that consisted of 13 pairs of primers selected from previously developed microsatellite markers in mud carp data obtained in our laboratory. We adjusted the number of cycles, the time of extension, and the primer ratios to make the multiplex PCR system as valuable as possible. Using this system, we performed a genetic analysis and parentage assignment for 2 male and 5 female mud carps and 146 of their progeny. The results showed a range of alleles of 2 < K < 5, with an average of 3.54. The polymorphism information content ranged from 0.271 to 0.697, with an average of 0.4954. The observed heterozygosity ranged from 0.183 to 0.810, with an average of 0.6008. The expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.324 to 0.741, with an average of 0.5572. The null allele frequency was 1.29–27.68%. The computer‐simulated identification was 99%, while the combined exclusion power using all loci was 100% for actual offspring. Thus, this multiplex PCR assay is a new technological tool for selective breeding and a genetic resource for studying the mud carp, Cirrhinus molitorella.  相似文献

Blunt snout bream (Megalobrama amblycephala) is an herbivorous freshwater fish species native to China and has been recognized as a main aquaculture species in the Chinese freshwater polyculture system with high economic value. The genetic parameter estimates for important economic traits are needed for its selective breeding. The aim of this study was to estimate the heritabilities for its growth‐related traits and explore the genetic and phenotypic correlations among the traits using microsatellite‐based pedigree approach. Offspring from a mass‐spawning of 92 broodstocks (42 sires and 50 dams) were reared in a communal pond and nine microsatellites were used to identify the parents of each sampled offspring. Of 749 offspring randomly selected, 708 (94.53%) could be assigned directly to a single parental pair, which was used for heritability estimates. Data were analysed using the method of restricted maximum likelihood (REML) using animal model and the results showed that the heritabilities of body weight, body length, total length and body height were 0.65, 0.53, 0.53 and 0.50, respectively. High genetic correlations were found among these four traits. According to these results, selection for growth seems to be feasible in M. amblycephala and the other growth traits will be heightened accordingly with the selection based on body length.  相似文献

The establishment and evaluation of family lines using pedigree information provides an advanced understanding of the variability that exists for complex, economically valuable traits and is a necessary step in the execution of an effective breeding programme. The aim of this study was to assign parentage to mass‐spawned Haliotis midae juveniles using species‐specific microsatellite markers. Screening of wild abalone individuals revealed that the nine loci selected complied with the minimum requirements for parentage analyses: a null allele frequency <5% as well as a high number and frequency of alleles per locus. A total of 598 individuals were genotyped (198 breeding individuals and 400 F1 progeny) from two farms, with parentage results yielding 91% and 90% successful assignment for Farms A and B respectively. This study, therefore, provided the necessary pedigree information required for controlled breeding of individual adult abalone and indicated the usefulness of the panel of microsatellite markers selected for parentage assignment.  相似文献
