A feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of replacing soybean meal (SBM) with rubber seed meal (RSM) on digestive enzyme activity, nutrient digestibility and retention in juvenile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus × Oreochromis aureus). Five isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets were formulated with 0 (control), 100, 200, 300 and 400 g kg−1 RSM replacing graded levels of SBM respectively. Each diet was randomly assigned to triplicate groups of 30 fish (initial average weight 5.2 g) per aquarium in a rearing system maintained at 29 ± 1°C for 8 weeks. The hepatic protease and lipase activities gradually decreased with increasing dietary RSM level, but no significant differences were observed among the low inclusion level (0–200 g kg−1) groups. The apparent digestibility coefficients of dry matter, crude protein, crude lipid and ash showed a similar trend as the hepatic protease and lipase activities. The retentions of protein and individual essential amino acid (except lysine, threonine and leucine) in fish fed diet with 200 g kg−1 RSM were similar to those in fish fed the control diet. These results indicate that dietary RSM inclusion level up to 200 g kg−1 did not markedly affect the digestive enzyme activity, nutrient digestibility and retention in tilapia, whereas these were depressed by the inclusion of 400 g kg−1 RSM.  相似文献

An 8‐week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of replacing soybean meal (SBM) with canola meal (CM) on growth, feed utilization, body composition and haematological indices of juvenile hybrid tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus×Oreochromis aureus). Six isonitrogenous diets containing graded levels of CM (0, 95, 190, 285, 380 and 634 g kg?1 of diet corresponding to 0%, 15%, 30%, 45%, 60% and 100%, respectively, of protein from SBM) to replace SBM on an equal protein basis were fed to triplicate groups of juvenile fish (initial weight=6.3 g). The results indicated that up to 30% of SBM could be replaced by CM without causing a significant reduction in growth performance. Fish fed with diets in which CM replaced over 45% of SBM had a significantly lower protein efficiency ratio and a significantly higher feed conversion ratio than fish fed with other diets. The apparent digestibility coefficients (ADC) of dry matter, protein and phosphorus were lowest for fish fed the CM100 diet. Significant differences in haemoglobin, haematocrit and white blood cell concentration were found in fish fed diets with different CM levels. It is concluded that up to 19.02% CM can be used to replace 30% of SBM in diets for juvenile hybrid tilapia without compromising growth, feed conversion and protein utilization.  相似文献

A 10‐week study was conducted to evaluate the effects of supplemental phytase and protease in low phosphorus (LP) and fishmeal‐free diets (FMF) on growth and nutrient utilization of tilapia. Seven isonitrogenous diets were prepared as positive control diet (PC) containing 60 g/kg fishmeal and 18 g/kg monocalcium phosphate (MCP), LP diet (12 g/kg MCP), FMF diet, LP‐FMF diet, and three enzyme diets with phytase (LP + Ph), protease (FMF + Pr), and phytase + protease (LP‐FMF + Ph + Pr) supplementation in LP, FMF and LP‐FMF diets, respectively. Weight gain, nutrient (except Ca) retention and digestibility of LP, FMF and LP‐FMF groups were lower than those of PC group (< 0.05). Compared to LP, FMF and LP‐FMF groups, the supplementation of phytase, protease and phytase + protease improved WG by 13.2%, 11.1% and 13.0% (< 0.05). The three enzyme groups showed higher digestibility of protein and P, and higher intestinal villus length than those of LP, FMF and LP‐FMF groups (< 0.05), respectively. Dietary phytase and Ph + Pr also promoted the retentions of crude protein and P (< 0.05). The results indicated that the supplementation of phytase in LP diet and protease in FMF diet improved the growth and nutrient utilization, and phytase reduced MCP inclusion in the diet of tilapia.  相似文献

Yeast fermentation integrated with water soaking was applied as a method to reduce the levels of some anti‐nutritional factors in canola meal. The procedure completely eliminated glucosinolates and it reduced phytic acid content by 18%. It also led to increase of 9% of crude protein and 8–32% of some minerals in the meal. A 60‐day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate replacement of dietary soybean meal protein with yeast‐fermented canola meal for Nile tilapia at ratios of 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% respectively. Three groups of fish with an initial weight of 10 g were fed with each diet twice a day to an apparent satiation. The results showed that there were non‐significant differences (P > 0.05) in growth, survival rate, feed intake and feed conversion ratio for all fish fed with the test diets. However, replacement with 75 and 100% levels significantly reduced (P < 0.05) protein efficiency ratio and nutrient digestibility of protein, lipid, ash, Ca, Mg and P of fish compared with the lower levels. The low retention of protein, lipid, ash, Ca, Mg and P were also observed. These effects seemed to be related to an increased dietary phytic acid.  相似文献

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary taurine on growth performance and feed utilization of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) larvae. Four plant protein‐based, isonitrogenous (400 g kg?1 protein), isoenergetic (19 MJ kg?1) diets supplemented with four taurine concentrations (0.0, 5.0, 10.0 and 15.0 g kg?1; designated as T0, T0.5, T1 and T1.5, respectively) were prepared. The diets were fed to triplicate groups of fish larvae (0.024 g average body weight), to apparent satiation, three times per day for 60 days. Larval growth rates and feed utilization efficiency were significantly improved with increasing supplemental taurine up to 10 g kg?1 and decreased with further taurine supplementation. The quadratic regression analyses indicated that the maximum larval performance occurred at about 9.7 g kg?1 of total dietary taurine. Fish survival was significantly lower at 15 g kg?1 dietary taurine than at other taurine levels. Body protein significantly increased, while body moisture and ash decreased, with increasing dietary taurine up to 10 g kg?1 and decreased with further taurine supplementation to 15 g kg?1. Body lipid was not significantly affected by dietary taurine concentration. A number of body amino acids (tryptophan, arginine, histidine, leucine, isoleucine, valine, alanine, glycine, threonine and taurine) significantly increased with increasing supplemental taurine up to 10 g kg?1 and then decreased with further increase in dietary taurine levels. The rest of body amino acids were not significantly affected by dietary taurine. The present results suggest that about 9.7 g kg?1 dietary taurine is required for optimum performance of Nile tilapia larvae fed soybean meal‐based diets.  相似文献

An 8‐week trial was conducted to assess the feasibility of replacing soybean meal (SBM) by lupin seed meal (LSM) in simulated commercial diets for juvenile tilapia starting at 0.3 g. Of the dietary protein (26% crude protein), 3.45% was from fishmeal and the rest came from the vegetable protein sources. The protein source of the control (C) diet came mainly from SBM and none (0%) from LSM. For the other diets, 33%, 67%, or 100% of the SBM protein was replaced by protein from either whole or dehulled LSM. One further diet was used: AW100, where alkaloid of the whole lupin seed was reduced. Survival, growth, and feed performance were compared among seven orthogonal contrasts to determine the effects of replacing SBM with whole LSM or dehulled LSM, and of reducing the alkaloid content. No differences in survival were found among all contrasts. No differences in fish growth and feed performance were found between feeding diet C and the other six diets ((whole, dehulled) × (33, 67, and 100)). Dehulled LSM diets resulted in better growth and feed performance than the whole LSM diets. Partial replacement of SBM by either dehulled LSM or whole LSM in diets obtained better growth and feed performance than total replacement. The AW100 diet resulted in equal fish growth but better feed performance than the W100 diet. This study concluded that partial, but not total, replacement of soybean protein with lupin seed protein in juvenile tilapia diets resulted in better, or at least equal, growth and feed performance. Dehulling further enhanced the growth and performance of LSM. Alkaloid removal improved feed performance but not the growth.  相似文献

A 12‐week feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effects of supplemental exogenous enzyme on growth performance in juvenile hybrid tilapia Oreochromis niloticus×O. aureus (18 g, average initial weight). A commercial enzyme complex (neutral protease, β‐glucanase and xylanase) was included at the level of 0.0 (control group), 1.0 and 1.5 g kg−1 diet in three test diets. Each diet was fed to triplicate tanks of the juvenile three times a day at 4–6% of wet body weight, and each tank was stocked with 50 fish. The results showed that specific growth rate and feed efficiency ratio significantly increased (P<0.05) with increasing dietary enzyme levels. The highest feed intake was recorded in the group fed the control diet (P<0.05). The highest apparent protein retention was observed in fish fed the diet containing the 1.5 g kg−1diet (P<0.05). No significant differences were observed in the apparent digestibilities (ADC) of protein, lipid and gross energy among dietary treatments (P>0.05). However, the ADC of dry matter in fish fed high supplementation (1.5 g kg−1) was significantly higher than the control and low supplementation (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in condition factor, whole body moisture, protein, lipid and ash among dietary treatments. Viscera ratio, hepatosomatic index and the liver lipid decreased significantly with increasing enzyme (P<0.05). Both protease and amylase activities in the intestine and the hepatopancreas of juvenile hybrid tilapia significantly increased (P<0.05) with increasing dietary enzyme levels. The results suggested that enzyme supplementation can significantly improve growth performance and feed utilization in juvenile hybrid tilapia.  相似文献

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of extruded diets and pelleted diets with varying dietary lipid levels on growth performance and nutrient utilization of tilapia. Six diets, containing three levels of lipid at 40, 60 or 80 g kg?1 (with the supplemental lipid of 0, 20 or 40 g kg?1, respectively), were prepared by extruding or pelleting and then fed to tilapia juveniles (8.0 ± 0.1 g) in cages (in indoor pools) for 8 weeks. The results indicated that the fish that were fed the diet with 60 g kg?1 of lipid had a higher weight gain (WG), specific growth rate (SGR), protein efficiency ratio (PER), lipid retention (LRE), energy retention (ERE), apparent protein digestibility, apparent dry matter digestibility and a lower feed conversion ratio (FCR) than those fed the diet with 40 g kg?1 lipid in both the extruded diet and pelleted diet (P < 0.05). As the dietary lipid level increased from 60 to 80 g kg?1, these parameters were not further improved, even digestibilities of the crude protein and dry matter decreased (P < 0.05). With the dietary lipid level increased, whole‐body lipid content significantly increased (P < 0.05), serum aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, total cholesterol and low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‐C) tended to increase (P > 0.05), whereas whole‐body protein content, serum triglyceride (TG), high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL‐C) and HDL‐C/LDL‐C tended to decrease (P > 0.05). Fish fed with the extruded diets had a higher WG, SGR, hepatosomatic index (HSI), PER, protein retention (PRE), LRE, ERE, TG, apparent digestibility of protein and dry matter, as well as a lower FCR, than those fed with the pelleted diets at the same dietary lipid level (P < 0.05). These results suggested that tilapia fed with the extruded diets had a better growth and higher nutrient utilization than fish fed with the pelleted diets, when dietary lipid level ranged from 40 to 80 g kg?1 and at dietary crude protein level was 280 g kg?1. The optimum dietary lipid level was 60 g kg?1 in both the pelleted and extruded diets, and extrusion did not affect dietary lipid requirement of the tilapia.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A 120-day feeding trial was conducted in floating cages to evaluate growth performance and digestibility of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) juveniles fed diets containing different levels of poultry by-product meal (PBM) as a replacement for fishmeal. Nile Tilapia with an average body weight of 56.6 ± 0.28 g were used in this experiment. Five diets were formulated to contain graded levels of PBM at 0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, and 30% poultry by-product meal (PBM) and are referred as PBM0, PBM5, PBM10, PBM20, and PBM30, respectively. Groups of 25 Nile tilapia were fed close to the apparent satiation, three times a day. The results showed that growth performance, survival and whole-body composition for fish fed the experimental diets were not significantly different (P > .05) than fish fed the control diet. Apparent digestibility of dry matter, protein, lipid and amino acids of fish fed the PBM20 and PBM30 were lower compared to the other treatments (P < .05). The PBM dietary levels significantly lowered total protein, high-density-lipoprotein (HDL) and cholesterol concentration. The results of this study indicated that good quality PBM can be used up to 30% in commercial diets for Nile tilapia without any adverse effect.  相似文献

This study evaluated the use of hydrolysed rubber seed meal as a locally grown alternative feed ingredient to reduce the use of fishmeal within formulated feeds for tilapia. Five experimental diets were prepared by formulating different inclusion levels of hydrolysed rubber seed meal (0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of plant‐based protein contribution). Dried and defatted rubber seed meal was hydrolysed by adding rumen digesta liquid to the ingredient. For digestibility measurement, chromic oxide was added to each diet as an inert marker. The digestibility trial was conducted over a 14‐day period by collecting faecal matter from the rearing tanks. In addition, a growth trial was conducted over a period of 50 days using four replicates per dietary treatment. In both experiments, all fish were fed three times daily to apparent satiation. At the end of growth trial, the inclusion level of hydrolysed rubber seed meal up to 50% of plant‐based protein contribution did not give any significant difference compared to the control diet in terms of feed efficiency, specific growth rate and protein retention parameters. In the digestibility study, fish fed diets containing hydrolysed rubber seed meal up to a 50% of plant‐based protein inclusion level did not give any significant difference compared to the control diet in terms of protein and dry matter apparent digestibility. Based on the result of this growth and digestibility study, up to a 50% of plant‐based protein contribution of hydrolysed rubber seed meal can be used within formulated tilapia feeds without any adverse effect.  相似文献

Columnaris disease can be problematic in tilapia (Oreochromis spp.) production. An understanding of the pathogenesis and virulence of Flavobacterium columnare is needed to develop prevention strategies. The objective of this study was to determine the virulence of genetically defined isolates of F. columnare in sex‐reversed hybrid tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus (L.) × O. aureus (Steindachner). A series of immersion challenge trials were performed using isolates of the five established genomovars of F. columnare: I, II, II‐B, III and I/II. The mean per cent mortality of fish challenged with genomovar I, II and III isolates ranged from 0 to 100, 3.3–78 and 3.3–75%, respectively. The mean per cent mortality of fish challenged with genomovar II‐B ranged from 35 to 96.7%, and the only genomovar I/II isolate tested caused no mortality. Contrary to previous work in other fish species, there did not appear to be an association between F. columnare genomovar and virulence in tilapia. The challenge model used resulted in acute mortality. An alternative challenge model was tested by cohabitating healthy fish with dead fish infected with F. columnare. This method resulted in rapid appearance of clinical signs and mortality, suggesting the potential for F. columnare to increase in virulence upon growth on/in a fish host.  相似文献

An 8‐week feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effect of supplemental dietary zinc sources on the growth performance and carbohydrate utilization of juvenile tilapia Smith 1840, Oreochromis niloticus × O. aureus. The goal was to compare the bioavailability of two zinc sources, zinc sulphate (ZnSO4) or zinc methionine (ZnMet), by using two practical basal diets with 350 g kg?1 (C350) or 400 g kg?1 (C400) carbohydrates based on wheat as the carbohydrate source. The results showed that fish fed with a diet supplemented with 60 mg kg?1 Zn from either ZnSO4 or ZnMet had a significantly (P < 0.05) greater specific growth rate and protein efficiency ratio than those fed with the diets of ≤30 mg kg?1 Zn. The composition of tilapia carcass was also found to be influenced by various levels of dietary zinc from the two zinc sources. The G6P‐DH in fish fed with the 20 mg kg?1 ZnMet diet and the PK levels in fish fed with 20 mg kg?1 ZnSO4 and 30 mg kg?1 ZnMet diet were significantly (P < 0.05) higher than those in fish fed with the C400 diet. The data suggest that supplemental dietary zinc from either ZnMet or ZnSO4 significantly affects the growth performance and carbohydrate utilization of tilapia.  相似文献

The effects of commercial cellulase enzyme products on the nutritive value of canola meal (CM) were determined in tilapia fry. Nine diets were prepared by adding cellulase enzyme (1–5 g kg?1) to control diet (containing no canola), low canola (41.7 g kg?1 CM) and high canola (208.3 g kg?1 CM). Tilapia fry was fed for 90 days, and growth, feed conversion ratio (FCR), body composition and nutrient digestibility were determined. Fish fed the diets containing the lowest levels of canola meal (41.7 g kg?1) had similar final weight and FCR relative to the group fed the control diet, and high canola diet showed significantly lower growth than other groups (P < 0.05), irrespective of cellulase enzyme. The addition of canola meal to tilapia diets resulted in lower protein digestibility and cellulose digestibility. There were no significant differences in body compositions in all treatments. Addition of enzymes to canola meal diets had no significant effects on growth performance, body compositions and nutrient digestibility. The results of this study indicate that use in higher level of canola meal in tilapia diet was adversely affected growth parameters and FCR. Adding dietary cellulase enzyme in different rations to diets showed no significant differences in growth parameter.  相似文献

Effects of temperature and processing on the stability of a commercial protease were assessed in an in vitro trial followed by growth trials with white shrimp and tilapia. Results showed that the protease has a high heat stability against pelleting, and it could hydrolyse dietary proteins during feed processing. In Exp. 2, white shrimp (3.3 g) fed low fish meal (FM) diet (LFD) with protease addition had similar growth to that fed high fish meal diet, and both had higher weight gain (WG) and lower feed conversion ratio (FCR) than that fed LFD without protease addition (< 0.05). In Exp. 3, compressed (CD) or extruded (ED) diets containing 30 g kg?1 or 90 g kg?1 FM were supplemented with or without protease and then fed to tilapia (1.7 g) for 8 weeks. WG was improved and FCR decreased (< 0.05) by the supplementation of protease in 30 g kg?1 FMCD, but not in 90 g kg?1 FMCD and ED diets when compared to those diets without protease supplementation. The digestibility trial with CD indicated the improved apparent digestibilities of dry matter and crude protein by dietary protease in 30 g kg?1 FMCD, but not in 90 g kg?1 FMCD. Results above showed that the protease has a high heat stability and the supplementation of protease in CD with low FM level can improve the growth of shrimp and tilapia.  相似文献

An 84‐day feeding experiment was conducted to determine the effects of dietary ginseng extract (GE), tribulus extract (TE) and date palm pollen grains (DPPG) on growth, testosterone level and nutrient utilization of Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus, fingerlings. Seven experimental treatments were conducted in three replicates: control fed basal diets without any supplementations, GE0.2 (supplemented with 0.2 g GE/kg diet), GE0.4 (supplemented with 0.4 g GE/kg diet), TE0.6 (supplemented with 0.6 g TE/kg diet), TE1.2 (supplemented with 1.2 g TE/kg diet), DPPG3 (supplemented with 3 g DPPG/kg diet) and DPPG6 (supplemented with 6 g DPPG/kg diet). The results indicated that all dietary phytochemicals significantly increased growth compared to the control. Plasma testosterone levels were improved by 86.27%, 64.58%, 57.35% and 24.58% with TE1.2, GE0.4, TE0.6 and DPPG6, respectively, more than the control. The relationship between testosterone and final body weight showed a significant simple linear regression with a positive correlation. The nutrient utilization imprxoved with higher doses of phytochemical supplementations. Moreover, protein content increased and ether extract decreased with phytochemical supplementation. The present results concluded that higher doses of GE, TE and DPPG could be used as growth promoters and testosterone boosters for Nile tilapia fingerlings.  相似文献

The feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the potentials of Clostridium butyricum in the diet of tilapia. Fish (~14 g) were fed with basal diet supplemented with 0 (Control), 0.5 (C‐1), 1 (C‐2), 2 (C‐3), 4 (C‐4) and 8 (C‐5) g/kg commercial probiotic‐containing C. butyricum (1.5 × 108 CFU/g) for 8 weeks. The results showed that weight gain significantly increased, and feed conversion ratio decreased in the C‐2, C‐3 and C‐4 groups (p < .05). The protein retention (except C‐1 group), lipid retention and apparent digestibility coefficient (ADC) of dry matter in probiotic supplementation groups were significantly enhanced, and ADC of protein in the C‐4 group was also improved (p < .05). The supplementation of probiotic significantly increased villus height in anterior intestines and reduced the numbers of intestinal Escherichia coli (p < .05). High‐throughput sequencing showed that top three phyla namely Planctomycetes in all probiotic‐containing groups, Proteobacteria in the C‐1 and C‐2 groups and Chloroflexi in the C‐3 group had higher level than the NC group. The cumulative mortality was reduced by dietary probiotic after challenging with Aeromonas hydrophila (p < .05). In conclusion, C. butyricum can be supplemented at 1–2 g/kg feed for promoting the growth, feed utilization, gut health and microbiota of tilapia.  相似文献

The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of replacing soybean meal (SBM) with cottonseed meal (CSM) on the growth performance, feed utilization and haematological parameters of mono‐sex male Nile tilapia fingerlings. Five isonitrogenous diets (containing 31.82% crude protein) containing graded levels of CSM to replace SBM protein were fed to triplicate groups of fish. The diets were supplemented with lysine so that they were similar to the control diet. After a 14‐week feeding experiment, the results revealed that up to 75% of SBM could be replaced by CSM without causing a significant reduction in growth. Fish fed the diet highest in CSM had a significantly lower protein efficiency ratio and a significantly higher feed conversion ratio than fish fed the other diets. High survival was observed in all the dietary treatments, and no significant difference was observed among treatments. The apparent digestibility coefficients (ADC) of dry matter and phosphorus decreased significantly with an increase in the dietary CSM level, whereas the ADC of lipid was not affected by the dietary treatment. The hepatosomatic index and the condition factor were significantly affected by the replacement of SBM by CSM. No significant differences were detected in the moisture, lipid and ash content in whole body and muscle samples, but protein in whole‐body samples was significantly affected by the CSM levels. Significant differences were found in the haemoglobin, haematocrit, red blood cell and white blood cell contents in fish fed diets with different CSM levels. Therefore, these findings suggest that up to 41.25% CSM can be used to replace 75% of SBM protein in diets for mono‐sex male Nile tilapia fingerlings without any adverse effects on the growth performance, feed utilization, body composition and haematological indexes.  相似文献

This study evaluated the effects of increasing levels of methionine (Met) supplementation on the success of almost total replacement of fish meal (FM) with soybean meal (SBM) in diets for hybrid tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus × Oreochromis mossambicus). Fish were fed for 70 days a FM‐based diet (Diet1‐positive control) or SBM‐based diets supplemented with graded levels of DL‐methionine (Diet2 to Diet7). Contrast in dietary Met, concentration was created by supplementing Diet2‐negative control with 1.2 (Diet3), 2.4 (Diet4), 3.6 (Diet5), 4.8 (Diet6) or 6.0 g kg?1 (Diet7) of DL‐Met. Specific growth rate (SGR), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and protein gain and retention efficiency (PER) improved significantly with increasing levels of dietary DL‐Met supplementation. Moreover, nonlinear regression analysis of the effects of supplementing SBM‐based diet with graded levels of DL‐Met indicated that a dietary Met + Cys level of 15.7 and 12.5 g kg?1 diet (as fed) was required to reach 95% of maximum weight and protein gain, respectively. Supplementation of SBM‐based diet with graded levels of DL‐Met proved an effective strategy in reducing FM content in practical diets for hybrid tilapia. Data also indicate that adjustment of dietary formulas according to currently recommended Met or Met + Cys dietary concentrations is probably limiting maximum growth potential of hybrid tilapia.  相似文献
