我是警犬"小巍"

大家好,我先来自我介绍一下,我的名字叫桑丰,是北京市刑侦总队警犬侦查训练大队的一头现役警犬。什么?这个名字怎么这么奇怪?!听起来好像“伤风”。哈哈……我妈妈刚开始也是这么说的。那是我的档案名,也就是所谓的大名。我还有一个很好听的乳名,是我妈妈给我取的,叫巍巍。说到     

我和导盲犬“纺云”

这是一个让我一生难忘的日子，2008年11月5日。这天的天气特别好，秋阳高照，微风吹拂着我们每一个人的脸庞，仿佛给人一种回到了春天的感觉!也许是好的天气影响着我们的心情。大家都情绪高涨，一路欢笑，跟着市残联的宋主任，来到了这个我们向往多日的地方公安部南京警犬研究所。也就是说，从这天起才真正开始了我和导盲犬的生活。     

香港警务处警犬队访问团来公安部南京警犬研究所参观交流

应公安部邀请,以何国威总督察为团长的香港特别行政区警务处警犬队一行4人,在公安都五局十二处张民贵处长、江苏省公安厅刑事侦查局赵武生助理调研员等陪同下,来公安部南京警犬研究所进行参观考察和业务交流。2006年11月6日上午,香港警务处警犬队访问团成员在公安部南京警犬研究所徐汉坤所长,方建强副所长等陪同下,饶有兴趣地参观了犬病中心医院、警犬分子生物学实验室、拉布拉多犬区和史宾格犬区,并观看了警犬技术表演,香港同行对保持业内领先水平,高标准、高起点的分子生物学实验室,对技术设施设备一流的犬病医院给予了高度评价,对警犬精…

Hemophilia A in a female dog

Hemophilia A was diagnosed in a mixed-breed female dog with an acute bleeding disorder. Coagulation factor analysis was used to determine low factor VII-coagulant activity in the dog. Hemophilia A is an X chromosome-linked recessive trait that has not been reported as a cause of disease in female dogs.

Cystocele and rectal prolapse in a female dog

A case of cystocele and prolapsed rectum is reported. The urinary bladder and rectum were repositioned and fixed by cystopexy, colposuspension, and colopexy concurrently. There was no recurrence after 3 months. This is the first report to describe cystocele in a young female dog never having been pregnant.     

Suspected hypothyroid-associated neuropathy in a female rottweiler dog

A 7-year-old, 46-kg spayed female rottweiler dog was presented with sudden onset of disorientation, bilateral convergent strabismus, and enophthalmos. Diagnostic workup revealed hypothyroid-associated cranial neuropathy. Symptoms abated considerably upon treatment with levothyroxine-sodium (T4) at an initial dose of 800 μg/kg body weight (BW), PO, q12h, which was reduced 3 days later to 600 μg/kg BW, q12h due to severe agitation and panting. Two weeks later the dosage of the levothyroxine-sodium (T4) was reduced to 400 μg/kg BW in the morning and 600 μg/kg BW in the evening. Eight weeks after the initial presentation, the dog had recovered with only mild convergent strabismus in the right eye. This is the first case report of suspected hypothyroid-associated neuropathy resulting in these symptoms.     

An apparently healthy female crossbred Labrador retriever-poodle dog with severe intra-abdominal adhesions as an incidental finding to ovariohysterectomy

An apparently healthy 1-year-old, female crossbred Labrador retriever-poodle dog was brought to a veterinary clinic for elective ovariohysterectomy (OVH). Severe abdominal adhesions complicated the procedure. There was no report of a previous illness or surgical procedure that would be a predisposing cause for the adhesions. The OVH was completed despite the adhesions and the dog recovered well. It is unclear whether this was simply a case of severe intra-abdominal adhesions or an atypical sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis (SEP). The differential diagnoses include inflammatory processes, a genetic predisposition, or an idiopathic cause. Fourteen days later, at the time of surgical staple removal, the dog was healthy and had reportedly been doing very well. Although rare, intra-abdominal adhesions can occur in young and previously healthy dogs without causing clinical signs. Veterinarians should be aware of such a condition when approaching abdominal surgeries and be prepared to manage these cases appropriately.
