Persistence as affected by rate of application and moisture regimes and leaching of beta-cyfluthrin was studied in alluvial soil under laboratory conditions. The effects of rate of application and moisture regimes on persistence were studied by incubating fortified soil at 0.1, 1.0 and 10.0 mg kg(-1) under air-dry, field capacity and submerged moisture regimes. The initial deposits of 0.09, 1.11 and 10.1 mg kg(-1) dissipated with time and 78.4-100% loss was recorded at 90 days. The half-life values varied from 7.8 to 41.8 days. The rate of dissipation decreased as the rate of application increased under field capacity and submerged conditions. However, under air-dry conditions, the effect was less pronounced, and half-life values showed a reverse trend. Persistence of beta-cyfluthrin under different moisture regimes followed the trend: air-dry > field capacity > submerged. The trend could be attributed to the effect of moisture on number and type of microbes. Leaching was studied in a packed soil column under saturated flow conditions. beta-Cyfluthrin was found to be highly immobile in alluvial soil. No residues were detected in any leachate fraction under the experimental conditions. In column soil, residues were detected at 0-10 cm depth and the major amount (>99%) was recovered from 0-5 cm depth. Although beta-cyfluthrin showed moderate persistence in alluvial soil, the possibility of its leaching to ground water is negligible as a result of its immobility.  相似文献

Chlorpyrifos [O,O-diethyl O-(3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridyl) phosphorothioate] is an organophosphorus insecticide applied to soil to control pests both in agricultural and in urban developments. Typical agricultural soil applications (0.56 to 5.6 kg ha?1) result in initial soil surface residues of 0.3 to 32 μg g?1. In contrast, termiticidal soil barrier treatments, a common urban use pattern, often result in initial soil residues of 1000 μg g?1 or greater. The purpose of the present investigation was to understand better the degradation of chlorpyrifos in soil at termiticidal application rates and factors affecting its behaviour. Therefore, studies with [14C]chlorpyrifos were conducted under a variety of conditions in the laboratory. Initially, the degradation of chlorpyrifos at 1000 μg g?1 initial concentration was examined in five different soils from termite-infested regions (Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Texas) under standard conditions (25°C, field moisture capacity, darkness). Degradation half-lives in these soils ranged from 175 to 1576 days. The major metabolite formed in chlorpyrifos-treated soils was 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyrid-inol, which represented up to 61% of applied radiocarbon after 13 months of incubation. Minor quantities of [14C]carbon dioxide (< 5%) and soil-bound residues (? 12%) were also present at that time. Subsequently, a factorial experiment examining chlorpyrifos degradation as affected by initial concentration (10, 100, 1000 μg g?1), soil moisture (field moisture capacity, 1.5 MPa, air dry), and temperature 15, 25, 35°C) was conducted in the two soils which had displayed the most (Texas) and least (Florida) rapid rates of degradation. Chlorpyrifos degradation was significantly retarded at the 1000 μg g?1 rate as compared to the 10 μg g?1 rate. Temperature also had a dramatic effect on degradation rate, which approximately doubled with each 10°C increase in temperature. Results suggest that the extended (3–24 + years) termiticidal efficacy of chlorpyrifos observed in the field may be due both to the high initial concentrations employed (termite LC 50 = 0.2– 2 μg g?1) and the extended persistence which results from employment of these rates. The study also highlights the importance of investigating the behaviour of a pesticide under the diversity of agricultural and urban use scenarios in which it is employed.  相似文献

The dependence of the behaviour of metsulfuron-methyl on soil pH was confirmed during incubations under controlled laboratory conditions with two French soils used for wheat cropping. The fate of [14C] residues from [triazine-14C]metsulfuron-methyl was studied by combining different experimen-tal conditions: soil pH (8·1 and 5·2), temperature (28 and 10°C), soil moisture (90 and 50% of soil water holding capacity) and microbial activity (sterile and non-sterile conditions). Metsulfuron-methyl degradation was mainly influenced by soil pH and temperature. The metsulfuron-methyl half-life varied from five days in the acidic soil to 69 days in the alkaline soil. Under sterile conditions, the half-life increased in alkaline soil to 139 days but was not changed in the acidic soil. Metsulfuron-methyl degradation mainly resulted in the formation of the amino-triazine. In the acidic soil, degradation was characterised by rapid hydrolysis giving two specific unidentified metabolites, not detected during incubations in the alkaline soil. Bound residues formation and metsulfuron-methyl mineralisation were highly correlated. The extent of bound residue formation increased when soil water content decreased and was maximal [48 (±4)% of the applied metsulfuron-methyl after 98 incubation days] in the acidic soil at 50% of the water holding capacity and 28°C. Otherwise, bound residues represented between 13 and 32% of the initial radioactivity. © 1998 SCI  相似文献

[14C]-Labelled methazole was incubated in six soils at 25°C and with soil moisture at field capacity. Under these conditions, methazole was unstable, the concentration declined following first-order kinetics with half-life values in the soils ranging from 2.3 to 5.0 days. The main degradation product was 1-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-3-methylurea (DCPMU) which was more stable than the parent compound. After about 160 days, DCPMU accounted for 30 to 45% of the initial methazole concentration. Degradation of methazole and DCPMU was affected by soil temperature and moisture content. With methazole, half-lives in one soil at field capacity moisture content and temperatures of 25, 15 and 5°C were 3.5, 8.7 and 31.1 days respectively. The half-life at 25°C was increased to 5.0 days at 50% of field capacity and 9.6 days at 25% of field capacity. A proportion of the initial radioactivity added to the soil could not be extracted and this proportion increased with time. After 160 days this unextractable radioactivity accounted for up to 70% of the amount applied.  相似文献

Glasshouse experiments were conducted to determine the effects of soil moisture content, irradiance, temperature and relative humidity on the efficacy of glyphosate applied to six isogenic lines of Avena fatua L. (wild oat) and four near-isogenic lines of Urochloa panicoides Beauv. (liverseed grass). The variables examined were four soil moisture conditions (29%, 42%, 55% and 100% of field capacity), two levels of irradiance (400 and 800 μmol m?2 s?1), two levels of relative humidity (>92% and 65%) and four temperature regimes (20/15, 25/20, 30/25 and 35/30 °C: day/night), representing the environmental conditions of winter or summer fallows in the north-east grain region of Australia. The efficacy of 360 g acid equivalent ha?1 glyphosate was greatest under well-watered (100% of field capacity), warm (30/25 °C for A. fatua and 35/30 °C for U. panicoides) and humid (>92/90%) conditions. The efficacy was least under severe water stress (29% of field capacity), warm (30/25 °C for A. fatua and 35/30 °C for U. panicoides) and moderately humid (65/60%) conditions. Efficacy was not altered by the level of irradiance nor was it different between isogenic lines.

The distribution resulting from the drenching of soil with a suspension concentrate of [14C]metazoxolon was studied in the laboratory and the field. Penetration of soil columns was increased by (a) increasing the drench volume from 1 to 7.8 litres m?2, (b) changing the original soil moisture content from air-dry to field-capacity, and (c) including 1 % of ‘Renex 30’ surfactant in the drench. Penetration was greatest in soils containing large pores and was reduced when aggregates were broken down by sieving. Leaching the column with 1.56 cm of ‘rain’, 15 h after treatment, did not increase the penetration by metazoxolon. In all experiments, the maximum concentration of metazoxolon occurred in the top 2 cm of soil. Equivalent effects were found when metazoxolon was applied to a poorly-structured sandy clay loam in the field.  相似文献

The behaviour and fate of chlorsulfuron in aqueous and soil systems were examined in laboratory studies. Aqueous hydrolysis was pH-dependent and followed pseudo-first-order degradation kinetics at 25°C, with faster hydrolysis occurring at pH 5 (half-life 24 days) than at either pH 7 or 9 (half-lives >365 days). Degradation occurred primarily by cleavage of the sulfonylurea bridge to form the major metabolites chlorobenzenesulfonamide (2-chlorobenzenesulfonamide) and triazine amine (4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-amine). This route is a major degradation pathway in water and soil systems. Aqueous photolysis (corrected for hydrolysis) proceeded much more slowly (half-life 198 days) than aqueous hydrolysis and is not expected to contribute significantly to overall degradation. Hydrolysis in soil thin-layer plates exposed to light (half-life 80 days), however, progressed at a much faster rate than in dark controls (half life 130 days), which suggests that a mechanism other than direct photolysis may have been operative. An aerobic soil metabolism study (25°C) in a Keyport silt loam soil (pH 6·4, 2·8% OM) showed that degradation was rapid (half-life 20 days). Dissipation in an anaerobic sediment/water system (initial pH of water phase 6·7, final pH 7·4) progressed much more slowly (half-life >365 days) than in aerobic soil systems. Major degradation products in aerobic soil included the chlorobenzenesulfonamide and triazine amine as in the aqueous hydrolysis study. Neither of these degradation products exhibited phytotoxicity to a variety of crop and weed species in a glasshouse experiment, and both exhibited an acute toxicological profile similar to that of chlorsulfuron in a battery of standard tests. Demethylation of the 4-methoxy group on the triazine moiety and subsequent cleavage of the triazine ring is another pathway found in both aqueous solution and soils, though different bonds on the triazine amine appear to be cleaved in the two systems. Hydroxylation of the benzenesulfonamide moiety is a minor degradation pathway found in soils. Two soils amended with 0·1 and 1·0 mg kg-1 chlorsulfuron showed slight stimulation of nitrification. The 1·0 mg kg-1 concentration of chlorsulfuron resulted in minor stimulation and inhibition of 14C-cellulose and 14C-protein degradation, respectively, in the same soils. Batch equilibrium adsorption studies conducted on four soils showed that adsorption was low in this system (Koc 13–54). Soil thin-layer chromatography of chlorsulfuron (Rf=0·55–0·86) and its major degradation products demonstrated that the chlorobenzenesulfonamide (Rf=0·34–0·68) had slightly less mobility and that the triazine amine (Rf=0·035–0·40) was much less mobile than chlorsulfuron. In an aged column leaching study, subsamples of a Fallsington sandy loam (pHwater 5·6, OM 1·4%) or a Flanagan silt loam (pHwater 6·4, OM 4·0%) were treated with chlorsulfuron, aged moist for 30 days in a glasshouse and then placed upon a prewet column of the same soil type prior to initiation of leaching. This treatment resulted in the retention of much more total radioactivity (including degradation products) than by a prewet column, where initiation of leaching began immediately after chlorsulfuron application, without aging (primarily chlorsulfuron parent). © 1998 SCI  相似文献

MCPA was weakly absorbed in soils with 2.4, 3.0 and 2.9% humus. Kd-values were 0.7, 0.9 and 1.0, respectively. In soil, not previously treated with MCPA, the degradation of 0.05 mg kg?114C-MCPA followed first-order reaction kinetics whereas degradation of 5 mg kg?1 was only first-order for 2 weeks; exponentially increasing degradation rates followed indicating enrichment of the soil with MCPA decomposers. Degradation was monitored by evolution of 14CO2. The influence of temperature on degradation of MCPA (4 mg kg?1) could initially be described by Q10 values or by the Arrhenius equation. After 1 day of incubation in two field soils Q10 values were 3.3 and 2.9, respectively, between 0°C and 29°C; the activation energies were 87 and 76 kj mol?1. Exponentially increasing degradation rates followed with doubling times of about 4.0, 1.8, 1.2 and 0.6 days at 6,10, 15 and 21°C, respectively. After 51 days of incubation, at temperatures between 6°C and 29°C, about 60%14C was evolved in CO2 and only traces of MCPA were left in the soil. At 0°C and at 40°C only 1% and 10%14C, respectively, were evolved as CO2 after 51 days. 14C-MCPA (4 mg kg?1) was incubated at moisture contents from that in air-dried soil to 2.3 times field capacity. Optimum for degradation was from 0.6 to 1.2. field capacity. Degradation was very slow where water contents were below the level of wilting point and was nil in air-dried soil. In wet soil degradation was delayed, but even in water-logged soil (2.3 times field capacity) MCPA was decomposed after 4 to 5 weeks at 10°C.  相似文献

The effect of nitrogen compounds and moisture regimes on the inhibition of the biological hydrolysis of parathion in rice straw-amended soil under flooded conditions was studied. Single applications of rice straw, potassium nitrate or ammonium sulphate to the flooded soil, inoculated with parathion-hydrolysing enrichment culture, inhibited the hydrolysis of the insecticide; the inhibition was reversed, however, in combined applications of rice straw with potassium nitrate or with ammonium sulphate. Aqueous extracts of rice straw-amended soils incubated under flooded undisturbed conditions as well as at 100% moisture inhibited the hydrolysis. The inhibitory factor was not formed in rice straw-amended flooded soils incubated at 50 and 75% moisture levels.  相似文献

Photolysis of chlorimuron-ethyl was studied on a soil surface under sunlight and UV light. Eight photoproducts were isolated and characterised by spectroscopic methods. Major photoproducts are formed by cleavage of the sulfonylurea bridge and minor products are formed via dechlorination, hydrolysis and cyclisation. The rates of photodegradation of chlorimuron-ethyl on different soils followed first-order rate kinetics, with half lives of 22·3 h, 9·4 h, 4·9 h (UV) and 20·7 days, 11·1 days and 11·1 days (sunlight) for alluvial, red and laterite soils, respectively. The differences in rates of photodegradation were dependent upon the soil pH. © 1997 SCI  相似文献

The degradation of chlorsulfuron and triasulfuron was investigated in alkaline soils (pH 7.1–9.4) spiked at 40 μg a.i. kg–1 under laboratory conditions at 25 °C and a moisture content corresponding to 70% field capacity (–33 kPa), using high-performance liquid chromatography. Degradation data for the two herbicides did not follow first-order kinetics, and observed DT50 values in surface soils ranged from 19 to 42 days and from 3 to 24 days for chlorsulfuron and triasulfuron respectively. Disappearance of both chlorsulfuron and triasulfuron was faster in non-sterile than in sterile soil, demonstrating the importance of microbes in the breakdown process. The persistence of chlorsulfuron increased with increasing depth, which can be attributed to the decline in the microbial populations down the profile. The DT50 value for chlorsulfuron at 30–40 cm depth was nearly four times higher than that in the top-soil. The results obtained show that persistence of these herbicides in alkaline surface soils at 25 °C and at a moisture content of 70% field capacity is similar to those reported in other European and North American soils. The study shows that if these herbicides are contained in surface soil layers, the risk of residue carry-over under southern Australian conditions is small. However, the rate of their degradation in alkaline subsoils is very slow, and under conditions conducive to leaching their prolonged persistence in the soil profile is possible.  相似文献

Clubroot, caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae, has become a serious threat to canola (Brassica napus) production in western Canada. Experiments were conducted under greenhouse and field conditions to assess the effect of Vapam fumigant (dithiocarbamate; sodium N‐methyldithiocarbamate) on primary and secondary infection by P. brassicae, clubroot severity, and growth parameters in canola. Preliminary trials showed a 12–16‐fold reduction in primary and secondary infection and clubroot severity at all of the Vapam application rates (0·4–1·6 mL L?1 soil) assessed. Vapam was also found to be effective in reducing clubroot severity and improving seed yield of canola under field conditions. Application of Vapam at soil moisture levels in the range of 10–30% (v:v) had a large effect on both disease severity and infection rates and plant growth parameters. The results suggest that Vapam can effectively reduce clubroot severity and may be useful for the treatment of transplant propagation beds in brassica vegetable production, and for the containment of small, localized clubroot infestations in commercial canola crops.  相似文献

Clubroot, caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae, has become a serious threat to canola (Brassica napus) production in western Canada. Experiments were conducted to assess the effect of growing resistant and susceptible canola genotypes on P. brassicae soil resting spore populations under greenhouse, mini‐plot and field conditions. One crop of susceptible canola contributed 1·4 × 108 spores mL?1 soil in mini‐plot experiments, and 1 × 1010 spores g?1 gall under field conditions. Repeated cropping of susceptible canola resulted in greater gall mass compared to resistant canola lines. It also resulted in reduced plant height, increased clubroot severity in susceptible canola, and increased numbers of resting spores in the soil mix.  相似文献

Triazole fungicides are now widely used commercially and several are known to be persistent in soil. The degradation rates of five such fungicides were measured in laboratory tests with two soils over 720 days, with analysis of soil extracts by high-pressure liquid chromatography. Behaviour in a sandy loam and a clay loam were similar, and incubation of the compounds either singly or in admixture did not influence loss rates except for those of flutriafol which were lower in the latter. Triadimefon was quite rapidly reduced to triadimenol, though traces of the former were always found, indicating a possible redox equilibrium. Flutriafol, epoxiconazole and triadimenol (derived from triadimefon) were very persistent, breakdown following first-order kinetics with half-lives greater than two years at 10 °C and 80% field capacity. Propiconazole was moderately persistent, with a half-life of about 200 days under these conditions. Degradation rates increased about 3-fold as the temperature was increased from 5 to 18 °C, though decreasing soil moisture to 60% field capacity only slightly slowed degradation. The rate constants obtained are used in a companion paper describing field studies on these two soils to compare laboratory-measured degradation rates with losses in the field following commercial sprays. © 1999 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The mobility and retention of atrazine and dicamba in six Atlantic Coastal Plain soils were estimated by soil thin-layer chromatography (soil-TLC). The soils studied were representative of the major agricultural regions in Delaware and were sampled, by horizon, to the water table. Four horizons from each profile were leached simultaneously with distilled water on one soil-TLC plate. Two values were obtained from each plate: the ratio of the distance traveled by the herbicide center of mass over that traveled by the solvent front (Rm), and a sorption distribution coefficient (Kd). The Rm values ranged from 0·06 to 0·94 for atrazine and from 0·80 to 0·94 for dicamba. Herbicide mobility was found to be greatest in coarse-textured soil horizons that contained low levels of organic matter, clay, and Fe and Al oxides. Correlation analysis indicated that effective cation exchange capacity, exchangeable acidity, exchangeable aluminum, and clay were useful predictive variables or both atrazine mobility and sorption. Organic matter was not useful for predicting soil-TLC derived sorption estimates; however, it was correlated to Kd-batch estimates. Distribution coefficients calculated from soil-TLC data were found to be in general agreement with Kd values obtained for the same soils by batch equilibrium techniques. The average Kd-soil-TLC values for atrazine and dicamba were 2·09(±2·24) and 0·03(±0·02), respectively. The ratio of the batch Kd to the soil-TLC Kd ranged from 0·1 to 19 (x̄=1·6, SD=3·8) for atrazine and from 2·9 to 38 (x̄=12·6, SD=8·7) for dicamba. Thus, although for some horizons agreement between the two methods was good, for other horizons significant discrepancies existed. It is suggested that the soil-TLC gives results under non-equilibrium conditions, whereas the batch procedure is, by definition, at quasi-equilibrium. These fundamental differences may account for the observed differences between the two methods. It is also suggested that, due to this difference, the soil-TLC procedure can provide additional information relevant to herbicide partitioning in the field environment that is not provided by traditional batch equilibrium techniques. © 1998 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Sorption–desorption of the fungicide triadimefon in field‐moist silt loam and sandy loam soils were determined using low‐density supercritical fluid extraction (SFE). The selectivity of SFE enables extraction of triadimefon from the soil water phase only, thus allowing calculation of sorption coefficients (Kd) at field‐moist or unsaturated conditions. Triadimefon sorption was influenced by factors such as soil moisture content and temperature; sorption increased with increased moisture content up to saturation, and decreased with increased temperature. For instance, Kd values for triadimefon on the silt loam and the sandy loam soils at 40 °C and 10% water content were 1.9 and 2.5 ml g−1, respectively, and at 18% water content, 3.3 and 6.4 ml g−1, respectively. Isosteric heats of sorption (ΔHi) were −42 and −7 kJ mol−1 for the silt loam and sandy loam soils, respectively. Sorption–desorption was also determined using an automated accelerated solvent extraction system (ASE), in which triadimefon was extracted from silt loam soil by 0.01 M CaCl2. Using the ASE system, which is basically a fast alternative to the batch equilibration system, gave a similar ΔHi value (−29 kJ mol−1) for the silt loam soil (Kf = 27 µg1 − 1/n ml1/n g−1). In order to predict transport of pesticides through the soil profile more accurately on the basis of these data, information is needed on sorption as a function of soil water content. © 2000 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Soil column studies were undertaken to investigate the influence of soil water content and irrigation on leaching, distribution and persistence of methyl isothiocyanate (MITC) in a sandy soil chemigated with the soil fumigant metam-sodium. No leaching was obtained from columns at low water content (0·042 or 0·074 cm3 cm−3). However, 8·4 (±2·8), 34·2 (±7·4) and 119·4 (±8·3) μg of MITC leached from columns at 0·105, 0·137 and 0·168 cm3 cm−3 water content, respectively. Increased leaching resulted from sprinkler application of 25-mm of water to columns at 0·137 cm3 cm−3 water content. Leaching of MITC constituted only a small fraction of the amount applied even in the worst case. Methyl isothiocyanate persisted in soil for 15 days at 2°C in varying amounts under the different water regimes. Relatively high amounts of MITC residues (8–12 mg kg−1 soil) were detected in the top 25-cm layer of all the soil columns. Degradation was the major pathway of dissipation for the chemical despite the soil water regime.  相似文献

Organophosphorus, pyrethroid and chloronicotinyl insecticides have been used to control termites in building structures in recent years. We investigated the degradation behaviour of three insecticides (bifenthrin, chlorpyrifos and imidacloprid) at termiticidal application rates under standard laboratory conditions (25 °C, 60% field moisture capacity and darkness) for 24 months. The study was carried out on one soil and two bedding materials (sand-dolomite and quarry sand), which are commonly used under housing in Australia. Experiments were also conducted to examine the effect of soil moisture on the degradation of these insecticides. Insecticide residues in the samples collected at different days after application were measured by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The rate of degradation of bifenthrin and imidacloprid insecticides was adequately described by a first-order kinetic model (r2 = 0.93–0.97). However, chlorpyrifos degradation was biphasic, showing an initial faster degradation followed by a slower rate. Therefore, the degradation data during the slower phase only (after a two-month period) followed the first-order law (r2 = 0.95). Soil moisture had little effect on degradation of imidacloprid and bifenthrin. Among the three insecticides, bifenthrin and imidacloprid were most stable and chlorpyrifos the least. Chlorpyrifos showed a major loss (75–90%) of residue during the 24 months incubation period. In the bedding materials, simultaneous accumulation of the primary metabolite of chlorpyrifos, TCP (3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinol) was observed. Hydrolysis appeared to have caused the observed rapid loss of chlorpyrifos, especially in the highly alkaline bedding materials (sand-dolomite and quarry sand). © 1999 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献
