Histologic, histochemical, and electron microscopic studies of generalized ceroid-lipofuscinosis in a cynomolgus monkey are presented. Histologically, a wide variety of tissue cells contained numerous bright eosinophilic intracytoplasmic granules that varied in size from 0.5 micron to 4.0 microns in diameter. Histochemically, the granules gave a weakly positive reaction with periodic acid-Schiff and for lipids. They were weakly acid fast and capable of emitting autofluorescence. Ultrastructurally, the granules were single unit membrane-bound, and contained dense osmiophilic material with frequent concentric or fingerprint-type lamellar formation. The granules were different than hemofuscin, iron, and bilirubin. Tinctorially the granules were unique--they were bright red with hematoxylin and eosin and, thus, differed from typical age-related lipofuscin pigment.  相似文献

A case of a neonatal foal with acute colic and respiratory distress is described. The foal presented with signs of acute colic and was treated medically. The foal did not respond to treatment and 2 h after admission the foal began to demonstrate signs of respiratory distress. Thoracic and abdominal radiographs were obtained and a diagnosis of a diaphragmatic hernia was made. Surgical repair of the hernia was recommended but the owner declined and the foal was subjected to euthanasia. Post mortem findings confirmed the diagnosis and revealed that the defect was of congenital origin. Congenital diaphragmatic hernia is an unusual cause of colic in a neonatal foal.  相似文献

Dermatophilus congolensis is recognized as the cause of “cutaneous streptothricosis” in cattle — an exudative dermatitis resulting from infection of the superficial layers of the epidermis (as deep as the stratum granulosum). Acute fulminating infections resulting in death are seen, as also are fatal complications such as necrotic or gangrenous dermatitis resulting from secondary bacterial infection (Jubb and Kennedy, 1970 Jubb, K. V. F. and Kennedy, P. C. 1970. Pathology of Domestic Animals, 2nd Ed., Vol. 2, 606607. New York and London: Academic Press.  [Google Scholar]). A range of inflammatory proliferative lesions of the tongue have been reported also from cases of streptothricosis (Mornet and Thiery, 1955 Mornet, P. and Tbiery, G. 1955. An unusual case of inclusion body hepatitis in a cockerel   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This report describes inclusion body hepatitis in a 12-week-old leghorn-type cockerel. The cockerel had come from a specific-pathogen-free flock and was reared in a positive-pressure isolator until 6 weeks old. Grossly, the cockerel was jaundiced, and the liver was swollen and had small white foci throughout. Histologically, there were foci of hepatic necrosis and basophilic inclusion bodies in the nuclei of numerous hepatocytes. A fowl adenovirus, isolated from the liver, was found to belong to serotype 2/12. The bursa of Fabricius had some degenerative changes, but these were not consistent with infectious bursal disease, nor was there evidence of seroconversion to infectious bursal disease virus in the remaining chickens.  相似文献
