Bulk snow samples were collected from the snowpack in open areas along two sampling lines running to the west from the Cu-Ni smelters at Nikel and Monchegorsk, NW Russia, during 1991–1993. The aim of the study was to estimate the area affected by sulphur and heavy metal deposition from the smelters. Snowpack quality was used as an indicator of deposition during winter time. 陕北黄土丘陵区大规模油田开发产生的石油污染对环境造成了一定的影响.为了解油田开发区(油区)石油污染特征,选取陕北油田开发体制不同的2个典型流域燕沟和巴家河,对油区土壤和地表水环境现状进行了调查和采样分析.结果表明,两个油区井场土壤都受到了不同程度的石油污染,土壤石油污染含量为5.5~131.2 g/kg,其中原私人开发的巴家河油区污染更严重.采用单井脱水工艺的巴家河油区水体石油类污染指数严重超标,采用集中脱水工艺的燕沟油区水体则没有受到明显的石油污染,采油废水进入水体是前者石油类污染的主要原因. 相似文献

Sulphur and Heavy Metal Concentrations in Scots Pine Bark in Northern Finland and the Kola Peninsula
Sulphur and heavy metal deposition in northern Finland (= in Lapland) and the Kola Peninsula were surveyed using Scots pine bark samples. Sulphur concentrations in bark close to the Kola smelters were on an average twice as high as on the Finnish side of the border. The Cu and Ni concentrations near the smelters were almost 100-fold the mean values in northern Finland. There was a marked decrease in the sulphur and heavy metal concentrations with increasing distance from the emission sources. The effects of emission from the Kola Peninsula were evident in Finland only close to the border, especially in the eastern parts of Inari (NE corner of Lapland) where the Cu and Ni concentrations were 2- to 6-fold those in western Lapland. The sulphur and heavy metal concentrations in most of northern Finland were low. However were the concentrations of Cr in bark in the SW corner of Lapland considerably high, due to the emissions from the Tornio refined steel plants. 相似文献

In this paper we document the effects of acidification on fish populations in lakes in Sør-Varanger near the Russian border in northern Norway. We used questionnaires in order to assess the current status and distribution of different fish species, and conducted test-fishing to determine relative abundance (CPUE-T) and age structure. Acidification of surface waters in this area is due to emissions of SO2 from smelters on the Kola Peninsula in Russia (Nikel and Zapoljarnij) between 10 and 30 km from the Norwegian border. Sulphur deposition in Sør-Varanger ranges from 0.6 to 2.0 g S m-2 yr-1, which is similar to levels in the most acidified areas in southern Norway. However, a dominant fraction of the acidic deposition reaches the ground in particulate form during summer and autumn. Coastal areas in Sør-Varanger receive small amounts of precipitation; the annual mean is 580 mm. We obtained fish status from 401 lakes, about 40% of all lakes larger than 3 ha, which were inhabited by 236 and 293 populations of Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus) and brown trout (Salmo trutta), respectively. The extent of fish damage was small as only three populations of Arctic charr were lost, while three populations of Arctic charr and eight populations of brown trout were at various stages of reduction. Damaged and lost fish populations were identified in smaller lakes at relatively high elevations (172–349 m) in six areas in the Jarfjord Mountains, covering a land area of 30.0 km2. Most of the damage probably occurred during the 1970s and 1980s. In lakes that supported or had supported Arctic charr and brown trout, we found a significant relationship between CPUE-T, and acid neutralizing capacity (ANC) and pH, and also between alkalinity and the concentration of inorganic Al for brown trout. In both species, the catch of fish in age groups 1+ and 2+ (CPUE-R) increased significantly with CPUE-T. Affected populations typically exhibited irregular age composition, and age-classes were missing, indicating that reductions in fish populations were due to recruitment failure. The limited fish damage is related to relatively good catchment resistance to acidic inputs, small amounts of wet deposition as well as precipitation. The impact of air pollution on membrane permeability of the epiphytic lichens Hypogymnia physodes and Bryoria fuscescens was studied in northern Finland and the Kola Peninsula to assess the effects of the Kola industrial emissions. The conductivity and quantity of K+ in leachates of the lichens were determined both as absolute and relative leakage. The K+ leakage from the lichens was the most sensitive indicator of membrane disturbance. Positive relationships between K+ leakage and decreasing distance from pollution sources and modelled atmospheric SO2 concentrations were found and the K+ leakage and Cu and Ni concentrations of Scots pine bark were also highly correlated. The relative conductivity of leachates was inversely related to distance from sources, while the absolute conductivity of leachates from lichens was positively correlated with bark S. The ion leakage was higher in fruticose Bryoria fuscescens than in foliose Hypogymnia physodes, but the overall response to pollution was similar in both species. The methods used were able to identify areas of disturbed membrane function around the Kola industrial areas and local point sources in northern Finland. However, the majority of the studied sites in Finnish Lapland can be regarded as undisturbed background areas with respect to these sensitive lichens. 相似文献

Terrestrial moss and humus (the O-horizon) are often used separately for determining and monitoring airborne heavy metal pollution. Here, we directly compare the results of analyses of moss and humus samples taken at a density of one site per 300 km2 in a 12 000 km2 area (45 samples) around the nickel smelter in Nikel, the nickel ore roasting plant in Zapoljarnij, both in Russia, and the iron ore mine and mill near Kirkenes in Norway. The samples were air dried, digested in conc. HNO3 and analysed for more than 30 elements by ICP-MS and ICP-AES at the laboratory of the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK). For most elements, observed levels and variations are considerably greater in soil than in moss. The main contaminants, Ni and Cu, reach equally high median levels in the moss and soil, but maximum values are far higher in soil. Both media show comparable regional distribution patterns for the heavy metals, but not for sulphur. Cu and Ni can be used to delineate the limits of contamination in the survey area. Both media show the same picture, with a generally very steep gradient from east to west and background levels being reached 30–50 km from the nickel smelter. When moss is used, Cu/Ni, Cu/S and Ni/S ratios can be used to separate input from the smelting and roasting proccesses in Russia. Both media are well suited to use separately to detect airborne pollution in this heavily contaminated area. The moss data are generally easier to interpret, but moss is not available at the most polluted sites. Levels for many elements other than Cu and Ni are close to the detection levels in moss samples, but not in humus samples. In summer 1994, stream water, moss and humus samples were collected for sulphur isotopic analysis from eight catchments located in the western Kola Peninsula region, where several industrial centres emit high loads of SO2 and other elements to the atmosphere. Three potential sources of sulphur and their isotopic signatures were identified: (1) marine (δ 34S+20 to +21‰ CDT), (2) anthropogenic emissions (<+10‰), and (3) geogenic (variableδ 34S, mostly <+10‰). Averaged per catchment, the sulphur isotopic composition varies between +6.0 and +16.3‰ for stream water sulphate, +6.0 and +8.4‰ for moss sulphur, and +5.2 and +12.2‰ for humus sulphur. Theδ 34S composition of stream water from the more remote catchments is quite variable, reflecting several natural (geogenic) sources, but it becomes restricted to the range +8 to +10‰ near the pollution sources. A plot ofδ 34S vs. 1:SO4 in stream water suggests that sulphate originating from the smelters has aδ 34S value ≈+9.5‰, and is a dominant source. Sulphur isotope values for moss and humus are consistent with the deduced composition for the emitted sulphur, though for humus a component of geogenic sulphur incorporated via vegetation uptake may play a role. Further isotopic characterisation of atmospheric emissions, together with environmental samples, is needed to better understand sulphur sources and sinks in the area. 相似文献

A reduced-from modelling approach is used to predict soil and lake acidification as part of an integrated assessment of acid deposition effects and control strategies. The reduced-form model is based upon the mechanistic, lumped parameter watershed chemistry model, MAGIC (Model of Acidification of Groundwater in Catchments). Recent improvements to MAGIC are described, and its reduced-form representation in the Tracking and Analysis Framework (TAF), an integrated assessment model for decision and uncertainty analysis, is presented. Reduced-form models are developed for lake acid neutralising capacity (ANC), calcium, pH, and aluminium; and for soil base saturation. The model for lake ANC incorporates long-term depletion of the watershed acid neutralisation fraction, as is predicted to occur with MAGIC. In test calibrations for 33 representative watersheds in the Adirondacks, the resulting reduced-form model provides a close approximation to MAGIC, with average root mean square errors of 0.79 μeq l-1 for ANC, 1.09 μeq l-1 for calcium, 0.16 for pH, 2.52 μeq l-1 for aluminium, and 0.09% for soil base saturation. In addition, improved fish viability models are incorporated in the integrated assessment model, and predictions are demonstrated for a future deposition reduction scenario for the Adirondack region. 相似文献

Response of soil and soil water of podzols in the Kola Peninsula to acid deposition was estimated under both field and laboratory conditions. A significant increasing trend of exchangeable acidity in organic (O) horizons and exchangeable Al in podzolic (E) horizons of podzols with distance from the nickel smelter was observed. The simulated rain at pH 4.5 did not alter chemical properties of soils and soil solutions. As much as 95–99% of the applied H+ ions were retained by soils and appeared in the percolates after a treatment period that depended on acid load and soil thickness. Ca and Mg in soil solutions were highly sensitive to acid loading. Simulated acid rain enhanced the leaching of exchangeable base cations out of root zone. Acid inputs resulted in decreased pH, amount of exchangeable base cations and base saturation, in elevated exchangeable acidity and it's Al fraction in soil solid phase. The most significant changes occurred in O and E horizons. Substantial amounts of both Ca and Mg can be lost from the root zone of podzols in the north-western Kola, subjected to acid deposition, thus leading to forest productivity damage. 相似文献

[目的]对区域性泥石流敏感性进行分析,为吉林省洮南市泥石流灾害预测研究提出一种高效快捷的分析模型。[方法]针对现行大多数概率统计模型预测率较低的不足,利用人工智能算法中效果明显的随机森林算法,以吉林省洮南市西北部山区为研究区域,选用高程、坡度、坡向、平面曲率、剖面曲率、河流、归一化差分植被指数、地形湿度指数、土地利用及岩性10个评价因子构建了频率比和随机森林泥石流敏感性评价模型进行对比验证。模型准确性的验证方法采用受试者特征曲线(ROC曲线)及累积频率曲线下面积(area under curve,AUC)。[结果]随机森林对研究区泥石流敏感性进行分析,并通过GIS将敏感性图分为5个敏感性区域,位于高敏感性区以上的灾害点占82.3%。验证模型成功率及预测率分别为88.4%与90.4%,相较于频率比的成功率及预测率(86.4%和75.1%)效果良好。[结论]在洮南市北部进行泥石流敏感性分析中,采用随机森林方法进行建模,并利用频率比方法进行对比,结果显示随机森林法结果可靠准确。 相似文献

Morphogenetic features of soils of two catenas developed on sandy to loamy sandy moraine deposits in the forest-tundra and northern taiga zones on denudation plains of the Kola Peninsula are discussed. It is shown that these catenas are similar with respect to the major directions of soil formation, regularities of soil distribution by the elements of mesotopography, and the factors of the soil cover differentiation. The differences between the catenas are of quantitative character and are related to the intensities of manifestation of the particular processes and features. Both catenas are characterized by the pronounced differentiation of soils with respect to their moistening with hydromorphic peat bog soils in the subordinate positions and Al–Fe-humus podzols in the automorphic positions. 相似文献

A statistically efficient approach is adopted for modeling spatial time-series of large data sets. The estimation of the main
diagnostic tool such as the likelihood function in Gaussian spatiotemporal models is a cumbersome task when using extended
spatial time-series such as air pollution. Here, using the Innovation Algorithm, we manage to compute it for many spatiotemporal
specifications. These specifications refer to the spatial periodic-trend, the spatial autoregressive moving average, the spatial
autoregressive integrated and fractionally integrated moving average Gaussian models. Our method is applied to daily pollutants
over a large metropolitan area like Athens. In the applied part of our paper, we first diagnose temporal and spatial structures
of data using non-likelihood based criteria, such as the empirical autocorrelation and covariance functions. Second, we use
likelihood and non-likelihood based criteria to select a spatiotemporal model among various specifications. Finally, using
kriging we regionalize the resulting parameter estimates of the best-fitted model in space at any unmonitored location in
the Athens region. The results show that a specific autoregressive integrated moving average spatiotemporal model can optimally

The number, biomass, length of fungal mycelium, and species diversity of microscopic fungi have been studied in soils of the tundra and taiga zones in the northern part of the Kola Peninsula: Al-Fe-humus podzols (Albic Podzols), podburs (Entic Podzols), dry peaty soils (Folic Histosols), low-moor peat soils (Sapric Histosols), and soils of frost bare spots (Cryosols). The number of cultivated microscopic fungi in tundra soils varied from 8 to 328 thousand CFU/g, their biomass averaged 1.81 ± 0.19 mg/g, and the length of fungal mycelium averaged 245 ± 25 m/g. The number of micromycetes in taiga soils varied from 80 to 350 thousand CFU/g, the number of fungal propagules in some years reached 600 thousand CFU/g; the fungal biomass varied from 0.23 to 6.2 mg/g, and the length of fungal mycelium varied from 32 to 3900 m/g. Overall, 36 species of fungi belonging to 16 genera, 13 families, and 8 orders were isolated from tundra soils. The species diversity of microscopic fungi in taiga soils was significantly higher: 87 species belonging to 31 genera, 21 families, and 11 orders. Fungi from the Penicillium genus predominated in both natural zones and constituted 38–50% of the total number of isolated species. The soils of tundra and taiga zones were characterized by their own complexes of micromycetes; the similarity of their species composition was about 40%. In soils of the tundra zone, Mortierella longicollis, Penicillium melinii, P. raistrickii, and P. simplicissimum predominated; dominant fungal species in soils of the taiga zone were represented by M. longicollis, P. decumbens, P. implicatum, and Umbelopsis isabellina. 相似文献

The geochemical model MAGIC has been applied to the Abborrträsket lake catchment in northern Sweden for the period 1843-2000. The two objectives were to 1.) simulate historical biogeochemical fluxes and pools and 2.) test whether the MAGIC model of biogeochemical cycling contradicts the published diatom record of a relatively stable pH (around 6) during the last two centuries in this weakly buffered, acid sensitive lake. Abborrträsket has received elevated sulfur and nitrogen deposition in the second half of the 20th Century and had a large part of its catchment clearcut in 1975. The MAGIC simulation of very small pH decline from 6.1 to 5.9 between 1843 and 1987 was comparable to the published diatom reconstructions of almost stable lake water pH up until the lake was limed in 1988. MAGIC also simulated the modern soil and water chemistry, including lake liming. Thus the diatom indication of stable pH cannot be dismissed as necessarily incorrect. 相似文献

Background
The Kola Peninsula (the most northern region of the European fringe of Russia) is covered with podzolic soil and is considered the most sensitive area to acidification in Europe because of the low input rate of base cations by weathering. About 300 thousand tons of SO2 are annually emitted from stationary sources in this region. Acidic precipitation accumulates in the snow during winter, and acidic water suddenly flushes into the soil during spring snowmelt (so-called acid shock). It is therefore important to assess how the acid-sensitive podzol responds to an intensive increase in acid load. The number of Enterobacteriaceae, with particular attention given to the presence of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, was determined in hospital effluents and municipal wastewater after various stages of purification. The emission of these microorganisms to the ambient air near wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) facilities and to the river water, which is a receiver of the WWTP effluent, was also studied using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and cultivation methods. The number of Enterobacteriaceae determined by cultivation and fluorescence methods in different kinds of sewage sample ranged from 0.5?×?10(3) to 2.9?×?10(6)?CFU/ml and from 2.2?×?10(5) to 1.3?×?10(8) cells/ml, respectively. Their removal rates during treatment processes were close to 99?%, but the number of these bacteria in the WWTP outflow was quite high and ranged from 5.9?×?10(3) to 3.5?×?10(4)?CFU/ml and from 1.1?×?10(5) to 6.1?×?10(5) cells/ml, respectively. In the river water and the air samples, the number of Enterobacteriaceae was also high and ranged from 4.1?×?10(3) to 7.9?×?10(3)?CFU/ml and from 3 to 458?CFU/m(3), respectively. The numbers of these microorganisms obtained from fluorescence and cultivation methods were statistically and significantly correlated; however, the analysis of the studied samples indicated that the FISH method gave values up to 10(3)-fold times greater than those obtained by the cultivation method. From a sanitary point of view, this means that the number of viable fecal bacteria is systematically underestimated by traditional culture-based methods. Thus, the FISH proves to be a method that could be used to estimate bacterial load, particularly in air samples and less contaminated river water. 相似文献
