In addition to the molecular structure of a pesticide, environmental conditions may influence its persistence through their effect on the growth and activity of pesticide-degrading micro-organisms. As a result, transformation rates may decrease rapidly when a compound is leached into subsoil. Metamitron sorption isotherms were determined and incubation series were set up for a sandy loam soil, simulating single and combination effects that occur during transport of metamitron into subsoils. KOC values increased with increasing depth from 185 to 700 litre kg−1. A combination of conditions that are unfavourable for microbial activity, such as low temperature (5°C), low concentrations (0·5 mg kg−1) and a large sorbed fraction (KOC = 700) resulted in half-lives of over one year. Oxygen inhibition decreased the transformation rate of metamitron from 0·058 to 0·019 day−1. In order of significance, the transformation of metamitron appears to be a function of temperature, oxygen availability and sorption to organic carbon. Increasing doses did not change transformation rates significantly, although different transformation pathways were observed.  相似文献

A field experiment was carried out on bulk sorghum stored for 26 weeks in concrete silos in South Queensland. No natural infestation occurred. Laboratory bioassays of treated grain, in which malathion-resistant strains of insects were added to grain samples, indicated that all the treatments were generally effective. Deltamethrin (2mg kg−1)+piperonyl butoxide (8mg kg−1), fenitrothion (12mg kg−1)+fenvalerate (1 mg kg−1)+piperonyl butoxide (8mg kg−1), and fenitrothion (12mg kg−1)+phenothrin (2mg kg−1)+piperonyl butoxide (8mg kg−1) controlled typical malathion-resistant strains of Sitophilus oryzae (L.), Rhyzopertha dominica (F.), Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) and Ephestia cautella (Walker). Pirimiphos-methyl (6mg kg−1)+permethrin (1mg kg−1)+piperonyl butoxide (8mg kg−1) allowed some survival of adults and progeny production by S. oryzae after 12 weeks, and by one strain of R. dominica throughout. Chemical assays established that the residues and rates of breakdown of these grain protectants on sorghum conformed to the general pattern on other cereal grains. Residues at the conclusion of the experiment were below the individual Maximum Residue Limits recommended by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.  相似文献

The developmental toxicity potential of ametryn was assessed, involving teratogenic and reproductive studies on 180 and 170 presumed pregnant albino mice respectively, given doses of 0, 292, 438, 584 and 779 mg kg-1 day-1, orally on days 6–15 of presumed gestation. During the gestation period, body weight, food consumption, water intake, mortality and general behavioural changes were recorded. On day 18, mice for teratogenic studies were killed and some parameters assessed. There were more deaths for the 584 mg kg-1 day-1 (31%) and 779 mg kg-1 day-1 (49%) groups than for the 438 mg kg-1 day-1 (10%) and 292 mg kg-1 day-1 (0%) groups. Reductions in mean body weight gain during exposure and post-exposure periods were recorded for the two highest dose levels; however, the corrected maternal weight (minus the uterus) remained unchanged for all the groups. Differences in food consumption and water intake were insignificant at all dose levels. Teratogenic parameters such as litter size decreased at the two highest doses as a result of significant resorptions and abortions. Other parameters such as termed fetuses per litter, fetal body weight, placental weight, crown–rump length and tail length, were reduced significantly. No external, visceral or skeletal changes were observed except delayed ossification. These results show that ametryn is embryotoxic to mice at 584 mg kg-1 and above. The 170 presumed pregnant mice (F0) allowed to deliver F1 pups did so after 20(±2) days and F2 pups obtained from matured F1 (not given any ametryn) were also delivered after 20(±1) days. There was F1 pup weight reduction for the two highest doses whereas F2 pups showed a non-significant reduction only for 779 mg kg-1 day-1 group. F1 fetal viability was 50–75% before day 4 and 75–99% after day 4 for the two highest doses compared to 100% survival for other dosage groups. No deaths were recorded for F2 generation pups. Food and water intakes, crown–rump length and tail length increments were insignificant for both generations. The appearance of developmental milestones like pinna attachment, hair growth, vaginal opening and testes descension remained unaffected for all the doses, but times of incisor eruptions, eye and ear opening were slightly lengthened for F1 generation at 779 mg kg-1. This observation was not noted in F2 generation pups. A battery of behavioural tests conducted for F1 and F2 pups did not reveal changes in movements such as pivoting, negative geotaxis reflex nor in post-weaning test such as consummatory activity and activity wheel. The growth of the skeletal system was unaffected by ametryn after day 10 post-delivery (F1 generation) and day 0 (F2) generation. Ametryn has little or no effect on reproductive and/or developmental characteristics of mice at doses below maternal toxicity. © 1998 SCI  相似文献

Surveys of inorganic bromide ion residues in tomatoes, cucumbers and selfblanching celery, commercially produced in England following soil sterilisation with bromomethane, have been carried out since 1979. The mean bromide ion level in 29 late-season cucumber samples was approximately 28 mg kg−1 and ranged up to 109 mg kg−1. Analysis of 242 tomato samples gave estimated mean bromide ion levels per plant ranging from 6 to 187 mg kg−1 in fruit picked throughout the season from seven holdings, on six of which bromomethane had been used fairly recently prior to planting. A statistically significant fall in bromide levels over the growing season was shown on four of the sites. In 38 samples of self-blanching celery, the mean bromide ion level was 104 mg kg−1 even though the mean interval between fumigation and planting was in excess of 1 year. Retail surveillance indicated that a large number of crops are likely to have bromide ion levels below 10mg kg−1.  相似文献

Permethrin, cypermethrin, and resmethrin were tested under field conditions as repellents to protect cattle from black flies (Simulium spp.). The chemicals were applied topically to the entire body surface of steers. Ethanolic solutions of technical permethrin, at doses of 1, 2, 4 and 6 mg a. i. kg?1 of body weight, effectively repelled black flies by preventing at least 70% of the flies present from taking a blood meal for up to 8 days, and for at least 11 days at a dose of 12 mg a. i. kg?1. Aqueous mixtures of a 20% permethrin emulsifiable concentrate (e. c.), at doses of 1, 2 and 6 mg a. i. kg?1, effectivelyrepelled black flies for 2, 10 and 11 days, respectively. Aready-to-use 5% permethrin dust, at doses of 1, 2, and 4 mg a. i. kg?1, effectively repelled black flies for 4, 5 and 8 days, respectively. Ethanolic solutions of technical cypermethrin, at doses of 1 and 2 mg a. i. kg?1, repelled black flies for 3 and 4 days, respectively. Aqueous mixtures of a 40% cypermethrin e. c., at doses of 2 and 4 mg a. i. kg?1, repelled black flies for at least 5 days. Ethanolic solutions of technical resmethrin, at doses of 2 and 6 mg a. i. kg?1, repelled black flies for 1 and 2 days, respectively.  相似文献

Carbofuran was incubated in top‐soil and sub‐soil samples from a pesticide‐free site at a range of initial concentrations from 0.1 to 10 mg kg−1. Amounts of the incubated soils were removed at intervals over the subsequent 12 months, and the rate of degradation of a second carbofuran dose at 10 mg kg−1 was assessed. An applied concentration as low as 0.1 mg kg−1 to top‐soil resulted in more rapid degradation of the fresh addition of carbofuran for at least 12 months. The degree of enhancement was generally more pronounced with the higher initial concentrations. When the same study was conducted in sub‐soil samples from the same site, an initial dose of carbofuran at 0.1 mg kg−1 resulted in only small increases in rates of degradation of a second carbofuran dose. However, degradation rates in the sub‐soil samples were, in many instances, considerably greater than in the corresponding top‐soil samples, irrespective of pre‐treatment concentration or pre‐incubation period. Initial doses of 0.5 mg kg−1 and higher applied to sub‐soil successfully activated the sub‐soil microflora. Application of the VARLEACH model to simulate carbofuran movement through the soil profile indicated that approximately 0.01 mg kg−1 of carbofuran may reach a depth of 70 cm 400 days after a standard field application. The results therefore imply that adaptation of the sub‐soil microflora (c 1 m depth) by normal field rate applications of carbofuran is unlikely to occur. In experiments to investigate this in soils exposed to carbofuran in the field, there was no apparent relationship between top‐soil exposure and degradation rates in the corresponding sub‐soils. The results further confirmed that some sub‐soil samples have an inherent capacity for rapid biodegradation of carbofuran. The high levels of variability observed between replicates in some of the sub‐soil samples were attributed to the uneven distribution of a low population of carbofuran‐degrading micro‐organisms in sub‐surface soil. There was no apparent relationship between soil microbial biomass and degradation rates within or between top‐soil and sub‐soil samples. © 2001 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Intrinsic activities of monodisperse ethoxylated dodecanols (MEDs), diethyl suberate (DESU) and tributyl phosphate (TBP) were investigated using Stephanotis floribunda leaf cuticular membranes (CMs) and [14C]2,4‐dichlorophenoxy butyric acid (2,4‐DB) as a model solute. When sorbed in cuticular membranes, MEDs, DESU and TBP increase solute mobility and are called accelerators for this reason. With MEDs, dose‐effect curves (log mobility vs accelerator concentration) were linear but, with DESU and TBP, curves convex to the x axes were obtained that approached a maximum at 90 and 150 g kg−1, respectively. Accelerators increased the mobility of 2,4‐DB in the CMs by 9‐ to 48‐fold, and effects were larger at lower temperatures (range 15–30 °C). Activation energy for diffusion of 2,4‐DB was 105 kJ mol−1, decreasing with increasing accelerator concentrations to 26 kJ mol−1 with DESU at 90 g kg−1 and 64 kJ mol−1 with TBP at 150 g kg−1. Thus, the intrinsic activity of DESU was much higher than that of TBP, which implies that, for a given effect, less DESU than TBP would be needed. MEDs were also very effective accelerators, lowering activation energies to 36 kJ mol−1. Data are discussed in relation to increasing rates of foliar penetration of active ingredients at low temperatures. © 2001 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A laboratory feeding test was conducted on queenless micro‐colonies of three bumblebee workers (Bombus terrestris L) to study the effects of low doses of imidacloprid on pollen and syrup consumption, worker survival, brood size and larval development. Two doses were used: D1 = 10 µg AI kg−1 in syrup and 6 µg AI kg−1 in pollen; D2 was 2.5 times higher in syrup and 2.7 higher in pollen. During 85 days 27, 30 and 29 micro‐colonies were reared for control, D1 and D2 treatments respectively. Food consumption was not affected by either dose. During the 5‐day pre‐oviposition period the mean insecticide intake was 4.8 ng per day per worker in treatment D2. Both doses slightly but significantly affected worker survival rate by 10% during the first month, without any dose‐effect relationship. Brood production was significantly reduced in D1 treatment and larval ejection by workers was significantly lower in D1 and D2 than in control. No significant effect of D1 and D2 treatments on the duration of larval development was revealed. No residue could be detected in workers still alive after 85 days. It was concluded that the survival rate and reproductive capacity of B terrestris was not likely to be affected by prolonged ingestion of nectar produced by sunflower after seed‐dressing treatment with imidacloprid (Gaucho), since honey or pollen collected by honeybees foraging treated sunflower never revealed concentrations of imidacloprid higher than 10 µg kg−1. © 2000 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The disappearance kinetics of the carbamate insecticide, carbosulfan, applied at 2 kg AI ha?1 (‘Marshal’ 250 g litre?1 EC) in peaches was studied. Degradation took place in two consecutive stages (0–28 and 28–57 days), with half-lives of 7.4 and 17.5 days, respectively. The residues obtained 57 days after treatment did not exceed 0.2 mg kg?1. When treatments were carried out 30, 21 and 14 days before the probable date of harvest (date of fruit maturation) with two doses (1.0 and 2.0 g formulated product litre?1) and two volumes applied (750 and 1500 litre ha?1), the residual levels detected were between 0.122 mg kg?1 (30 days before harvest) and 0.4 mg kg?1 (14 days before harvest). The major metabolite, carbofuran, was never detected above its determination limit of 0.004 mg kg?1 throughout the whole study.  相似文献

This study demonstrated that a moxidectin 10 g liter−1 non-aqueous injectable formulation, injected subcutaneously in cattle at a dose of either 0.2 or 0.3 mg moxidectin kg−1 body weight was safe and highly effective in the almost complete elimination (>99% efficacy) for 56 days of both the nymphal and adult stages of naturally acquired infestations of the three species of sucking lice commonly found on cattle, Haematopinus eurysternus (Nitzsch), Linognathus vituli (L), and Solenopotes capillatus (Enderlein). The level of efficacy was never greater than 90% with either dose against Bovicola bovis (L). No adverse effects were noted on cattle from either of the moxidectin doses used. © 1999 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

In a dietary toxicity study, laying hens received a diet containing the rodenticide flocoumafen at concentrations of 1.5, 5, 10 and 50 mg kg?1 for five consecutive days. The LC50 at termination following a 28-day observation period was 16.4 mg kg?1. Livers of birds which received doses of flocoumafen between 5 and 50 mg kg?1 had concentrations of flocoumafen (1.5 nmol g?1) that were independent of dose. The data indicate the presence in hen liver of a saturable high-affinity flocoumafen binding site with similar characteristics and capacity to that of the quail and rat. Residues of flocoumafen in samples of breast and leg muscle were low in all exposure groups. Higher, dose-related residues were found in samples of abdominal fat and skin-associated fat and there was a clear demonstration of the transfer of dose-related residues into eggs. In a separate study in which hens were dosed with [14C]flocoumafen for five consecutive days at a daily rate of 1 and 4 mg kg?1 body weight, the majority (68 %) of the daily radioactive dose was eliminated over the following 24 hours via excreta. Residues in liver at death or when killed accounted for < 1 % of the cumulative administered radioactivity. Residues in eggs were located primarily in the yolk with maximum concentrations 1.0 mg kg?1 or 0.18% of the low dose; 2.1 mg kg?1 or 0.06% of the high dose as [14C]flocoumafen equivalents were observed at 10 days after start of dosing. Some 40 % of the total activity in the yolk was unchanged flocoumafen.  相似文献

The cyclic depsipeptide PF1022A, given orally to mice, showed very good anthelmintic activity against Heligmosomoides polygyrus and Heterakis spumosa at 50 mg kg−1. In vitro, PF1022A was very active against Trichinella spiralis and had good activity against Nippostrongylus brasiliensis at 1 μg ml−1. An 18-membered enniatin analogue, JES 1798, showed good activity only against N. brasiliensis at 10 μg ml−1. The optical antipode of PF1022A had poor activity even at 100 μg ml−1. The effects of PF1022A on the membrane potential and input conductance of somatic muscle of Ascaris suum were examined using a two-microelectrode current-clamp technique. PF1022A did not antagonize the effects of the selective nicotinic agonist levamisole. PF1022A and an analogue, JES 1798, but not the PF1022A antipode, produced a small time-dependent increase in input conductance associated with no potential change. The increase in input conductance did not occur in the Cl-free bathing solution, suggesting that the increase in input conductance was mediated by Cl ions. The addition of high concentrations of Ca2+ to the preparation after the addition of PF1022A did not lead to production of Ca2+-activated Cl channels, suggesting that its mode of action was not that of a Ca2+ ionophore. The mechanism by which the cyclic depsipeptide might increase the Cl conductance is discussed.  相似文献

The chitin synthesis inhibitor diflubenzuron, applied as a wettable powder spray to woven polypropylene at 100–500 mg m?2, was effective against Dermestes maculatus De Geer for at least 12 weeks. D. maculatus was unable to develop on ox hide dipped in a suspension of diflubenzuron (125 mg litre?1), or on fishmeal dusted at 1–10 mg of active ingredient kg?1. Diflubenzuron prevented the development of infestations of Callosobruchus maculatus (L.) on peas and of Acanthoscelides obtectus (Say) on beans dusted at 1–5 mg kg?1. The compound was also very effective against early instar larvae of Trogoderma granarium Everts on wheat. The persistence and activity of diflubenzuron at low dosage rates against D. maculatus appear to justify larger scale trials.  相似文献

Surveys of lettuce, produced commercially in England and Wales, were carried out during the years 1977–82 to determine residues of inorganic bromide ion, following soil sterilisation with bromomethane. Lettuce grown on unfumigated soil contained less than 10 mg bromide ion kg−1, while most lettuce grown on bromomethane-fumigated soil were found to contain higher levels of bromide ion, with a proportion in excess of 1000 mg kg−1. The accumulation of bromide ion appeared to be related to the interval between soil fumigation and planting, and also to the frequency of bromomethane application to the soil. A limited amount of data is presented on the levels of bromide ion in imported lettuce.  相似文献

Methyl bromide fumigations are used to treat apples, Malus domestica Borkh, and sweet cherries, Prunus avium (L), before export to Japan. In order to expand existing markets, additional cultivars are being prepared for export to Japan. As part of the approval process, residue analyses must be conducted and residues must be at acceptable levels. Five apple cultivars (‘Braeburn,’ ‘Fuji,’ ‘Gala,’ ‘Jonagold,’ and ‘Granny Smith’) were fumigated at 40 g m−3 for 2 h at 10 °C, and six sweet cherry cultivars (‘Brooks,’ ‘Garnet,’ ‘Lapin,’ ‘Rainier,’ ‘Sweetheart,’ and ‘Tulare’) were fumigated for 2 h with 64 g m−3 at 6 °C, 48 g m−3 at 12 °C, 40 g m−3 at 17 °C, and 32 g m−3 at 22 °C. Three replicates of fruit from each fumigation were analyzed for methyl bromide and bromide ion residues periodically with time. Methyl bromide residues for both apples and cherries were the highest immediately after fumigation, but rapidly declined so that only ‘Braeburn’ had residues >8 µg kg−1 after 13 days and, except for ‘Lapin,’ all cherries were <1 µg kg−1 after seven days. Average bromide ion residues were between 3.3 and 4.9 mg kg−1 among apple cultivars, and between 3.7 and 8.0 µg kg−1 among cherry cultivars. In laboratory experiments, whole wheat was treated with pirimiphos-methyl or carbaryl or combinations of these two insecticides; the treated grain was then adjusted to a 12% moisture content and stored at 25°C for bioassay at various intervals over a period of 39 weeks. Pirimiphos-methyl at 5.1 mg kg?1 effectively controlled Sitophilus granarius (L.) and Tribolium confusum Jacquelin du Val but was ineffective against Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) CRD 118, a strain showing malathion resistance. Conversely, carbaryl at 6.5 mg kg?1 (but not at 3.1 mg kg?1) was effective against R. dominica, but ineffective against the other two species. A combination of pirimiphosmethyl + carbaryl, at 1.8 + 5.1 mg kg?1, controlled S. granarius and R dominica but not T. confusum, whilst a 4.2 + 3.4 mg kg?1 combination was relatively more effective against T. confusum but less so against R. dominica. In a separate experiment, whole wheat was treated with carbaryl at 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 mg kg?1 (nominal rates). Samples were stored and, at various times after the treatments, were bioassayed with R. dominica CRD 2, at 20, 25, 30 and 35°C. The results were comparable with those for the CRD 118 strain, but efficacy was reduced at higher temperatures. The combination of pirimiphos-methyl at 4–5 mg kg?1 and carbaryl at 5–6 mg kg?1 is suggested as a potentially useful grain protectant where R. dominica is a problem and long term storage is required. These results are discussed in relation to the protection of stored grain in Australia.  相似文献

Omphalotin A, a cyclic dodecapeptide produced by submerged cultures of the basidiomycete Omphalotus olearius, exhibited in-vitro and in-vivo nematicidal activity. Meloidogyne incognita was the most sensitive nematode. At 2.0 mg litre−1, 50% of the nematodes were dead after one hour. Heterodera schachtii, Radopholus similis and Pratylenchus penetrans were affected at higher concentrations. Incorporated into agar, the compound prevented infection of cucumber seedlings by M. incognita at concentrations of 1 mg litre−1 and higher. In glasshouse tests, complete protection of cucumbers and lettuce was achieved between 2.5 and 10 mg litre−1. No insecticidal activity was observed when Plutella xylostella, Phaedon cochleariae or Spodoptera frugiperda were fed material containing 4 g kg−1 of omphalotin A. © 1999 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Residues of tri-allate in triticale (X Triticosecale Wittmack) were determined, after both preplant and pre-emergence soil-incorporated applications of tri-allate at 1.4 kg ha−1, at the following crop stages: 2–3-leaf, 5–6-leaf, fully headed and mature (straw and grain). Tri-allate residues were detected only in green tissue samples from the 2–3-leaf stage of the crop. Recoveries of tri-allate were in the order of 90 and 85 % from the green tissue and grain at the 100 and 50 μg kg−1fortification levels, respectively.  相似文献

The study deals with the effect of common, annually-used pesticides on soil microorganisms, pesticide residues in soil, and carrot (Daucus carota) yields in Central Finland. Linuron residues in carrot roots were also analysed. Thiram+lindane and dimethoate were applied from 1973–1981 at the commercially recommended doses on experimental plots of carrots, linuron was applied at twice the recommended rate from 1973–1979 and at the normal rate thereafter and in addition TCA was applied in 1978. Maleic hydrazide was used in the years 1973–1976, and glyphosate after 1977. The numbers of different soil microorganisms, their activities and the pesticide residues were studied from autumn 1978 to 1981. The pesticide treatments reduced the growth of soil algae but increased the total number of microorganisms and the number of aerobic spore-forming bacteria. Linuron residues in the soil were 0.9–2.8 mg kg?1 in the growing season and 1.2–1.7 mg kg?1 in the autumn, 3 months after application. The residues of glyphosate in the soil were 0.7 mg kg?1 in the autumn, 41 days after the treatment, and had declined to a level of about 0.2 mg kg?1 by the following summer. In the pesticide-treated plots the carrot yield was only 20–60% of the yield in the hand-weeded plots. The herbicide programme controlled most of the annual weeds but not couchgrass Elymus repens and milk sow-thistle Sonchus arvensis.  相似文献

Biodegradation of [ring-14C] mecoprop (2-(4-chloro-2-methylphenoxy)propionic acid) was determined in surface and sub-surface soil at concentrations of 0·0005, 0·05, 0·5, 5, 50, 500, 5000 and 25000 mg kg-1. The kinetics of mineralisation were evaluated from the mineralisation rates as a function of time and by non-linear regression analysis. In the sub-surface soil, degradation was 6–8 times slower than in surface soil, but the shape of the curves was the same in both layers. At concentrations between 0·0005 and 0·5 mg kg-1, in both surface and sub-surface soil, degradation was initially zero-order followed by first-order kinetics. At 5 to 500 mg kg-1 in surface soil and 5 to 50 mg kg-1 in sub-surface soil the degradation rate was initially either constant or decreasing followed by exponential degradation indicating increasing populations of mecoprop decomposers in the soil. At 5000 and 25000 mg kg-1 in the surface soil and at 500, 5000 and 25000 mg kg-1 in the sub-surface soil, the degradation was negligible, as determined by the percentage [14C] carbon dioxide evolved. By non-linear regression, the three-half order model was found to describe the mineralisation. © 1998 SCI  相似文献
