Inhalt: 1. Der systematische Einbau der Zuchtarbeit in den Besamungsbetrieb ermöglichte sich erst mit der Urnstellung des gesamten KB-Betriebes auf TG-N₂-Samen .
2. Die allgemeine Umstellung auf TG-N₂-Samen brachte bezüglich der Befruchtungsergebnisse keine Nachteile, sondern durch Nutzung der besonderen Möglichkeiten des Gefriersamens vielmehr eine deutliche allgemeine Konsolidierung und Stabilisierung der Befruchtungslage .     

Zur Feinstruktur der normalen Kapillaren in der grauen Substanz der Großhirnrinde beim Schwein1

Fine structure of normal capillaries in the gray matter of the cerebral cortex of the pig The capillaries in the cerebral cortex over the Ammon's horn were studied with the electron microscope in 8 specific pathogen-free pigs. The capillaries had a thin continuous endothelium without perivascular space and their lumina on the average measured 5.8 ± 1.23 μm. in diameter. Their fine structure was by and large similar to that described for the capillaries of other species.

It was shown both light and electronmicroscopically on cartilage of elbow and hock joints of calves and pigs that during formation of synovial fossae, fibrocytes and covering cells of the synovial layer can arise from chondrocytes.     

Die Anordnung der Blutgefäśe in der Haut beim Schwein zum Zeitpunkt der Geburt

The present report is part of a study of the development and distribution of blood vessels in the skin of various domestic animals. Twenty-six newborn pigs were injected with a mixture of equal parts of India ink and bovine serum. The fixed skin was dehydrated and cleared. The formation and pattern of the cutaneous arterial networks and venous plexuses were studied.     

Zelluläre Spezifität der Lektinbindung in der Niere der Wachtel (Coturnix coturnix japonica)

The goal of this study was to demonstrate the distribution of glycoproteins in the various segments of the Japanese quail nephron, using lectins labeled with HRP or FITC. Each one of the six labeled lectins had a characteristic distribution pattern along the nephron. The study shows that lectins are useful markers for certain nephron segments or for cell types in certain segments of the renal tubules. PNA marks the thin portion of the medullary loop, DBA marks the thick portion; it is thus possible to differentiate the nephron segments in the medullary cone of the kidney. Con A binds selectively with the epithelioid, granular cells of the tunica media of the vasa efferentia. The histochemical technic using labeled lectins makes it possible to identify certain renal structures that could not, or only with difficulty, be differentiated using conventional histology. Therefore, lectins as specific markers are gaining in importance for further studies of the morphology and physiology of the kidney.     

Zur mikroskopischen Anatomie der Epidermis an der Schweineklaue

To gain a basis for diagnosing the frequent pathological changes of the porcine hoof, the fine structure of normal hoofs taken from landrace pigs was examined with the light microscope, the polarizing microscope and the electron microscope. The hoofs were taken mostly from 6 to 7 month-old slaughtered pigs, but also from younger animals, beginning at birth. The hoofs destined for light microscopical study were not softened before frozen sections were made; these sections were stained while floating on the stain. The hoof horn of the pig consists of mostly flat cells which are shaped like pancakes. The horn tubules often have oval cross sections and do not present a distinct boundary with the adjacent intertubular horn. The harder horn of the hoof has more horn tubules per mm² than the softer horn.
