Available phosphorus is limiting in most cultivable soils in several parts of India, including Rajasthan. Four phosphate-solubilizing bacterial strains viz. Pseudomonas fluorescens BAM-4, Burkholderia cepacia BAM-6, B. cepacia BAM-12 and Aeromonas vaga BAM-77 were isolated from the rhizosphere of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum, cv. Raj 171), mung bean (Phaseolus aureus, cv. RMG 492) and sesame (Sesamum indicum, cv. RT 46). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on phosphate solubilization by Aeromonas vaga. Seed inoculation of mung bean with or without tricalcium phosphate (TCP) was performed to study the effect of single and dual bacterial inoculations in pot trials having sterilized sandy loam soil, and was found to enhance the growth and yield of plants. The results were on a par with chemical fertilizer, single superphosphate (SSP) and commercial biofertilizers, PSB (Bacillus polymyxa) and MC (Pseudomonas striata), used as standard reference. Addition of TCP to soil gave better results and dual inoculation was more effective than single inoculation of bacteria. Among the four strains studied, A. vaga and P. fluorescens were found to be more valuable as single inoculants in terms of plant growth, whereas in combination treatments, P. fluorescens along with B. cepacia and A. vaga performed very well both in the presence and absence of TCP.  相似文献

Phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms play an important role in plant nutrition by enhancing phosphorus (P) availability to roots through converting the insoluble phosphates into soluble ions. We isolated phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) from acidic soil (Ultisols) in the field from the layer of 0–150 mm at a tea garden located at 28°38′26″ N and 116°24′27″ E. The capacity of bacterial isolates to solubilize mineral phosphate was tested on aluminum phosphate (AlPO4) in liquid medium. Among these PSB, isolate B1 (identified as Bacillus thuringiensis) exhibited the maximum P-solubilizing ability and was particularly efficient at solubilizing AlPO4 (up to 321 mg L?1) in vitro. The isolate B1 was inoculated to an acidic soil to study its effect on phosphate solubilization and growth of peanuts (Arachis hypogeae). The Olsen-P in the tested soil increased from 14.7 to 23.4 mg kg?1, with solubilization of 16.4 mg kg?1 soil of Occluded-P after 14-day incubation. The inoculation by B1 significantly increased plant height (from 37.7 to 45.7 cm), number of branches (from 34.0 to 52.7 per plant), hundred-seed weight (from 42.1 to 46.9 g) and crude protein content (from 243.5 to 268.2 g kg?1 dry weight). The phosphate-solubilizing B. thuringiensis strain B1 showed potential as a biological phosphorus fertilizer.  相似文献

Natural and mutant strains of A. chroococcum were isolated from Indian soils. Their ability to dissolve phosphate and their phytohormone production were tested under in vitro conditions. In addition the effect of bacterial inoculation of Azotobacter on N, P, K uptake by three P responsive wheat genotypes (Triticum aestivum L.) under greenhouse conditions at five nutrient levels (Control, 90 kg N ha—1, 90 kg N + 26 kg P ha—1, 120 kg N ha—1 and 120 kg N + 26 kg P ha—1) was studied. In vitro phosphate solubilization and growth hormone production by mutant strains was more than by the soil isolates. Inoculation of wheat varieties with the soil isolates and mutant strains of A. chroococcum showed greater NPK uptakes as compared with parent soil isolates. Mutant strains M15 and M37 were proved to be the most effective for all three wheat varieties with regard to NPK uptake as well as root biomass production under greenhouse conditions.  相似文献

Abstract

Sustainable food production includes mitigating environmental pollution and avoiding unnecessary use of non-renewable mineral phosphate resources. Efficient phosphorus (P) utilization from organic wastes is crucial for alternative P sources to be adopted as fertilizers. There must be predictable plant responses in terms of P uptake and plant growth. An 18-week pot experiment was conducted to assess corn (Zea mays L.) plant growth, P uptake, soil test P and P fractionation in response to application of organic P fertilizer versus inorganic P fertilizer in five soils. Fertilizers were applied at a single P rate using: mono-ammonium phosphate, anaerobically digested dairy manure, composted chicken manure, vegetable compost and a no-P control. Five soils used varied in soil texture and pH. Corn biomass and tissue P concentrations were different among P fertilizers in two soils (Warden and Quincy), with greater shoot biomass for composted chicken manure and higher tissue P concentration for MAP. Plant dry biomass ranged from highest to lowest with fertilizer treatment as follows: composted chicken manure?>?AD dairy?=?MAP?=?no-P control?=?vegetable compost. Soil test P was higher in soils with any P fertilizer treatment versus the no-P control. The loosely bound and soluble P (2.7?mg P kg?1) accounted for the smallest pool of inorganic P fractions, followed by iron bound P (13.7?mg P kg?1), aluminum bound P (43.4?mg P kg?1) and reductant soluble P (67.9?mg P kg?1) while calcium bound P (584.6?mg P kg?1) represented the largest pool of inorganic P.  相似文献

Fathead minnows (Pimephales promelas) were exposed to a range of pH and A1 concentrations in soft water (8 mg Ca L?1) to determine effect levels at various life stages. The tested pH levels ranged from 8.0 through 5.2 and inorganic monomeric Al from 15 through 60 μg L?1. Reproductive processes including spawning, embryogenesis and early larval survival were more sensitive to acid stress than were juvenile growth and survival. Juvenile survival was significantly reduced at pH 5.2 + 60 μg Al L?1 (P <0.05). Spawning success was reduced at pH 6.0 and 5.5 (P <0.10) and failed completely at pH 5.2, regardless of Al concentration. An apparant beneficial effect of added Al was observed during spawning at pH 7.5 + 35 μg Al L?1, but this effect was not significantly greater than at pH 7.5 + 15 μg Al L?1. A significant (P <0.05) decrease in larval survival occurred at pH 6.0 + 15 μg Al L?1 and lower compared to the survival at pH 7.5 + 15 μg Al L?1. Aluminum at 30 μg L?1 provided protection resulting in short term increased embryo-larval survival at pH 5.5. The effect of parental exposure on progeny survival was assessed by an interchange of embryos from the spawning treatment to all tested exposure conditions. When reared at pH 8.0 + 15 μg Al L?1 through 6.0 + 15 μg Al L?1 or at pH 5.5 + 30 μg Al L?1, parental exposure did not significantly influence progeny survival. However, survival was significantly reduced among progeny from brood fish reared at pH 5.5 + 15 μg Al L?1 as compared to those spawned at pH 6.0 + 15 μg Al L?1 and above, or at pH 5.5 + 30 μg Al L?1 (P <0.05). Juvenile or 14 d larval growth effects were not detected under any exposure condition (P >0.05). Ultimately, fathead minnow young-of-the-year recruitment and production potential can be expected to diminish when environmental pH falls to 6.0, and to fail completely at 5.5 and lower.  相似文献

Phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) were isolated and characterized from the rhizosphere and bulk soils of Areca catechu plants. A long history of phosphate fertilizer use has elicited a direct effect on the incidence of soil PSB. Their abundance and ability to solubilize insoluble phosphate were significantly greater (P?<?0.0001) in soils with low available phosphorus (P) content than in other soil types. Three efficient PSB strains, namely, ASL12, ASG34, and ADH302, were identified as Acinetobacter pittii, Escherichia coli, and Enterobacter cloacae by characterizing 16S rRNA sequences and biochemical characteristics; they produced gluconic acid at concentrations of 7862.4, 4306.5, and 2663.8 mg L?1, respectively. The highest amount of solubilized P was determined in Pikovskaya (PVK) medium for the bacterial strain ASL12. The secretion of gluconic acid was related to the available P of rhizosphere soils and P solubilization. Under shaded conditions, the application of these three strains significantly improved plant height, shoot and root dry weight, and nutrient uptake of A. catechu seedlings. A further increase in P solubilization was observed by co-inoculating the three strains and also applying tricalcium phosphate (TCP) or aluminum phosphate (AP). A significant (P?<?0.05) correlation was also observed between P-solubilization activity and A. catechu plant growth in pot experiments. Thus, the three strains can be potentially applied as inoculants in tropical and aluminum-rich soils.  相似文献

The phylogenetic diversity of phosphate solubilizing bacteria(PSB)distributed in P-rich soils in the Dianchi Lake drainage area of China was characterized, and the tricalcium phosphate(TCP)solubilizing activities of isolated PSB were determined.Among 1 328 bacteria isolated from 100 P-rich soil samples,377 isolates(28.39%of the total)that exhibited TCP solubilization activity were taken as PSB.These PSB showed different abilities to solubilize TCP,with the concentrations of solubilized P in bacterial cultures varying from 33.48 to 69.63 mg L-1.A total of 123 PSB isolates, with relatively high TCP solubilization activity(>54.00 mg L-1),were submitted for restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP)analysis, which revealed 32 unique RFLP patterns.Based on these patterns,62 representative isolates, one to three from each RFLP pattern, were seffected for 16S rRNA sequencing.Phylogenetic analysis placed the 123 PSB into three bacterial phyla, namely Proteobacteria,Actinobacteria and Firmicutes.Members of Proteobacteria were the dominant PSB,where 107 isolates represented by 26 RFLP patterns were associated with the genera of Burkholderia,Pseudomonas,Acinetobacter,Enterobacter,Pantoea,Serratia,Klebsiella,Leclercia,Raoultella and Cedecea.Firmicutes were the subdominant group,in which 13 isolates were affiliated with the genera of Bacillus and Brevibacterium. The remaining 3 isolates were identified as three species of the genus Arthrobacter. This research extends the knowledge on PSB in P-rich soils and broadens the spectrum of PSB for the development of environmentally friendly biophosphate fertilizers.  相似文献

A study was conducted to isolate P-solubilizing bacteria from the rhizosphere of three wild rice species and to test their ability to mobilize P from rock phosphate (RP). Inoculated seeds or seedlings of eight different strains were grown in soils supplemented with a P fertilizer mixture (PFM) consisting triple super phosphate (TSP) and RP, each providing equal amounts of P2O5. Crop growth, NaHCO3-extractable P, crop P uptake and yield were compared with two uninoculated controls, with either TSP or PFM added. In the pot experiment, P availability varied from 20 to 48 mg P kg?1 soil. Yields ranged between 4.8 and 6.6 g per pot and were not significantly different between treatments. In the field experiment, shoot P accumulation in inoculated and TSP-control treatments at the heading stage ranged between 79–129 mg and 219 mg per pot, respectively. Dual inoculants comprising Staphylococcus scirui, Bacillus pumilus, Bacillus subtilus and Bacillus cereus increased yield by about 29% over PFM-controls (324 g m?2) but those yields were 21% lower than TSP-controls (510 g m?2). Therefore, application of inoculants combined with PFM is not a viable alternative for TSP under the tested conditions because yield was limited by the P availability.  相似文献

Rock phosphate (RP) is a low efficiency P fertilizer that is directly applied to the soil and can be solubilized by phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms (PSMs) in fermentation or soil conditions. This study investigated dynamic solubilization of 2 concentrations of rock phosphate in a liquid culture with different dosages of glucose by two fungal isolates,Aspergillus niger P39 and Penicillium oxalicum P66, from soybean and wheat rhizosphere soil. Although during the 20 day culture period A. niger P39 had a stronger ability to acidify the culture media than P. ozalicum P66, soluble P concentrations at glucose dosages of 30 and 50 g L^-1 with RP of 15 g L^-1 in the culture solution were much higher by P. oxalicum P66. The greater effectiveness of P. oxalicum P66 compared to A. niger P39 in the solubilization of RP was strongly associated with the production of organic acids. This study suggested that for RP solubilization the type rather than the concentration of PSM-produced organic acids was more important.  相似文献

The ability of buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) roots to acquire phosphorus (P) was characterized by investigating P uptake, morphological features, and chemical changes in the rhizosphere. Over a range of nutrient solution P concentrations (5–500 μmol · L?1), maximum shoot growth was achieved with a P supply between 5 and 100 μmol · L?1. Root weight and root length, as well as length and frequency of root hairs, were higher at low P levels. Root surface and the root surface/shoot dry weight ratio reached high values. Though P uptake rates were only moderate (0.15 pmol · cm?1 root · sec?1), shoot P concentrations were high (1.8% of dry weight with 100 μM P) predominantly being inorganic (80%). Phosphorus efficiency was characterized by a high specific absorption rate (810 mmol P · kg?1 root dry wt · d?1) rather than by an efficient utilization for dry weight production. Root exudates of low-P plants had lower pH values than exudates of high-P plants and increased the solubility of FePO4 and MnO2 to a greater extent. Amounts of exuded organic acids and phenolics were low and could not account for the observed solubilization of FePO4 and MnO2. Enhanced hydrolysis of glucose-6-phosphate by exudates from low-P plants was due to an increased “soluble” acid phosphatase activity, and root surface phosphatase activity was also slightly enhanced with P deficiency. In the rhizosphere soil of buckwheat, some depletion of organic P forms was observed, and in pot trials with quartz sand, buckwheat utilized glucose- 6-phosphate as a P source at the same rate as inorganic P.  相似文献

Plant growth and mineral element accumulation in Brassica juncea var. crispifolia (crisped-leaf mustard) under exposure to lanthanum (La) and cadmium (Cd) were studied by employing a hydroponic experiment with a complete two-factorial design. Four levels of La (0.05–5.0 mg L?1) and two levels of Cd (1.0 and 10.0 mg L?1) were used in this experiment. Lanthanum did not improve plant growth in this experiment. Addition of La (≥ 1.0 mg L?1) or Cd (≥ 10 mg L?1) to the solution inhibited root elongation. Lanthanum treatments reduced accumulations of iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), and zinc (Zn) in roots, and Mn in shoots. Lanthanum at ≥ 1.0 mg L?1 limited the Cd translocation from roots to shoots and thus decreased the accumulation of Cd in shoots. Cadmium had no influence on La accumulations in roots, but inhibited the accumulation of La in shoots. The study results suggest that applications of rare earth elements in vegetables would be potentially risky to human health.  相似文献

‘Phosphate solubilizing bacteria' (PSBs) are able to release unavailable P from native and applied P sources into plant‐available soil pool through their solubilizing and acidifying effects. The effects of three indigenous and one exotic PSBs on P solubilization from different P sources, plant biomass production, and P‐uptake efficiency of maize (Zea mays L.) were examined in an incubation and greenhouse study. For incubation study, surface (0–15 cm) soil was collected from an arable field (Inceptisols) and amended with rock phosphate (RP), single superphosphate (SSP), poultry manure (PM), and RP+PM with and without PSBs. The amended soil was incubated in the control environment at 25 ± 2°C for a total of a 100‐d period to establish relative potential rate of P solubilization of added P sources. A complementary greenhouse experiment was conducted in pots by growing maize as a test crop. Growth characteristics, P‐uptake, and P‐utilization efficiency (PUE) were determined. Phosphate solubilizing bacteria generated a solubilization effect on different P sources by releasing more P into plant‐available soil pool, i.e., 14.0–18.3 µg g?1 in RP, 5.0–9.9 µg g?1 in SSP, 1.4–4.4 µg g?1 in PM, and 4.5–7.8 µg g?1 in RP+PM compared to their sole application without PSBs. The available P from inorganic SSP declined continuously from the mineral pool (after day 30) and at the end 40% of applied P was unaccounted for. However, P losses were reduced to 28 and 27% when PSBs (PSB1 and PSB3) were applied with superphosphate treatments. In the absence of PSBs, the recoveries of applied P (in soil) from RP, SSP, PM and RP+PM were 4, 25, 9, and 12%, respectively, those had been increased to 14, 30, 12 and 15% in the presence of PSBs. Similarly, the plant biomass in RP+PSBs treatments compared to the RP without PSBs increased between 12–30% in first sampling (30 DAG) and 13–30% in the second sampling (60 DAG). The P utilization efficiency (PUE) in plants supplemented with PSBs was 20–73% higher compared to those without PSBs. The detection of oxalic and gluconic acids in culture medium treated with PSBs (7.8–25.0 and 25–90 mg L?1, respectively) confirmed the production of organic acids by the indigenous bacterial isolates. This study indicate that low P recovery both in plant and soil can likely be improved by using indigenous PSBs and organic amendment poultry manure, which allowed a more efficient capture of P released due to P solubilization.  相似文献

Experimental addition of phosphate to enclosures in an acidified lake in Southern Norway was performed to study the effect on nitrate, pH and labile aluminium along a gradient of phosphate from 4–19 µg P L?1. Nitrate decreased from 180 µg L?1 to below detection limit after three weeks at P-concentrations > 17 µg L?1, due to phytoplankton uptake. pH increased from 4.9 to 5.2, corresponding to a 50% decrease of H+-equivalents from 12 to 6 µg P L?1 due to algal uptake of H+-ions when assimilating NO3 ?-ions. Due to the increased pH and probably also precipitation with phosphate, concentrations of labile aluminium decreased from 150 to 100 µg L?1 within the P-interval 4–19 µg L?1. Algal biomass increased from 0.5 to 6 µg chlorophyll a L?1 along the same P-gradient. The results suggest that moderate P-addition (< 15 µg P L?1 to avoid eutrophication problems) can improve water quality in moderately acidified lakes, and also increase nitrate retention in strongly acidified lakes. In humic lakes, the treatment will be less efficient due to light limitation of primary production and the presence of organic acids.  相似文献

Silicon availability in 36 commercial nursery bed soils was evaluated by four methods the phosphate buffer (pH 6.2, 40 mmol L?1), incubation, supernatant and acetate buffer (pH 4.0, 1 mol L?1) Methods. The influence of silicon availability in the nursery bed soils on the silicon uptake of rice Oryza sativa L. cv. Hitomebore seedlings and the effect of silicon fertilizer application were examined in a glass house in 2002.

The results revealed that the best correlation between silicon content in rice seedlings and available silicon in soils was obtained with the phosphate buffer-solution method (r = 0.86). More precise evaluation of available silicon was achieved by grouping soils based on these phosphate absorption coefficients (PAC). The correlation coefficients between silicon content in rice seedlings and available silicon in soils were 0.92 and 0.72 for volcanic soils (PAC > 1500) and non volcanic soils (PAC < 1500), respectively.

We concluded that the phosphate buffer method is the most easily adjusted method for estimation of silicon availability in nursery bed soils, and silicon fertilizers should be applied when silicon availability in non-volcanic nursery bed soils goes below 200 mg kg?1, whereas the level is less than 350 mg kg?1 in volcanic soils.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Dissolution of phosphate rocks (PR) in soils requires an adequate supply of acid (H+) and the removal of the dissolved products [calcium (Ca2 +) and dihydrogen phosphate (H2PO4 ?)]. Plant roots may excrete H+ or OH? in quantities that are stoichiometrically equal to excess cation or anion uptake in order to maintain internal electroneutrality. Extrusion of H+ or OH? may affect rhizosphere pH and PR dissolution. Differences in rhizosphere acidity and solubilization of three PRs were compared with triple superphosphate between a grass (Brachiaria decumbens) and a legume (Stylosanthes guianensis) forage species at two pH levels (4.9 and 5.8) in a phosphorus (P)-deficient Ultisol with low Ca content. The experiment was performed in a growth chamber with pots designed to isolate rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere soil. Assessment of P solubility with chemical extractants led to ranking the PRs investigated as either low (Monte Fresco) or high solubility (Riecito and North Carolina). Solubilization of the PRs was influenced by both forage species and mineral composition of the PR. The low solubility PR had a higher content of calcite than the high solubility PRs, which led to increased soil pH values (> 7.0) and exchangeable Ca, and relatively little change in bicarbonate-extractable soil P. Rhizosphere soil pH decreased under Stylosanthes but increased under Brachiaria. The greater ability of Stylosanthes to acidify rhizosphere soil and solubilize PR relative to Brachiaria is attributed to differences between species in net ion uptake. Stylosanthes had an excess cation uptake, defined by a large Ca uptake and its dependence on N2 fixation, which induced a significant H+ extrusion from roots to maintain cell electroneutrality. Brachiaria had an excess of anion uptake, with nitrate (NO3 ?) comprising 92% of total anion uptake. Nitrate and sulfate (SO4 2 ?) reduction in Brachiaria root cells may have generated a significant amount of cytoplasmic hydroxide (OH?), which could have increased cytoplasmic pH and induced synthesis of organic acids and OH? extrusion from roots.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Split root solution culture experiments were conducted to study the effects of the rare earth element lanthanum (La) on rice (Oryza sativa) growth, nutrient uptake and distribution. Results showed that low concentrations of La could promote rice growth including yield (0.05 mg L?1 to 1.5 mg L?1), dry root weight (0.05 mg L?1 to 0.75 mg L?1) and grain numbers (0.05 mg L?1 to 6 mg L?1). High concentrations depressed grain formation (9 mg L?1 to 30 mg L?1) and root elongation (1.5 mg L?1 to 30 mg L?1). No significant influence on straw dry weight was found over the whole concentration range except for the 0.05 mg L?1 treatment. In the pot and field experiments, the addition of La had no significant influence on rice growth.Lanthanum had variable influence on nutrient uptake in different parts of rice. Low concentrations (0.05 mg L?1 to 0.75 mg L?1) increased the root copper (Cu), iron (Fe), and magnesium (Mg), and grain Cu, calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P), manganese (Mn), and Mg uptake. High concentrations (9 to 30 mg L?1) decreased the grain Ca, zinc (Zn), P, Mn, Fe and Mg, and straw Ca, Mn, and Mg uptake. With increasing La concentration, root Zn, P, Mn, Cu, and Ca concentrations increased, and grain Ca and Fe, and straw Mn, Mg, and Ca concentrations decreased. Possible reasons are discussed for the differences between the effects of La in nutrient solutions and in pot and field experiments.  相似文献

In this study we found that Penicillium spp. exhibiting P-solubilizing activity are common both on and in the roots of wheat plants grown in southern Australian agricultural soils. From 2,500 segments of washed and surface-disinfested root pieces, 608 and 223 fungi were isolated on a selective medium, respectively. All isolates were screened for P solubilization on solid medium containing hydroxyapatite (HA); 47 isolates (5.7%) solubilized HA and were identified as isolates of Penicillium or its teleomorphs. These isolates were evaluated for solubilization of Idaho rock phosphate (RP) in liquid culture. Penicillium bilaiae strain RS7B-SD1 was the most effective, mobilizing 101.7 mg P l–1 after 7 days. Other effective isolates included Penicillium simplicissimum (58.8 mg P l–1), five strains of Penicillium griseofulvum (56.1–47.6 mg P l–1), Talaromyces flavus (48.6 mg P l–1) and two unidentified Penicillium spp. (50.7 and 50 mg P l–1). A newly isolated strain of Penicillium radicum (KC1-SD1) mobilized 43.3 mg P l–1. RP solubilization, biomass production and solution pH for P. bilaiae RS7B-SD1, P. radicum FRR4718 or Penicillium sp. 1 KC6-W2 was determined over time. P. bilaiae RS7B-SD1 solubilized the greatest amount of RP (112.7 mg P l–1) and had the highest RP-solubilizing activity per unit of biomass produced (up to 603.2 g P l–1 mg biomass–1 at 7 days growth). This study has identified new isolates of Penicillium fungi with high mineral phosphate solubilizing activity. These fungi are being investigated for the ability to increase crop production on strong P-retaining soils in Australia.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Phosphorus (P) is a limited resource and its efficient use is a main task in sustainable agriculture. In a 3-year field experiment the effects of catch cropping [oil radish (Raphanus sativus), buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum), serradella (Ornithopus sativus), ryegrass (Lolium westerwoldicum), and phacelia (Phacelia tanacetifolia)] of organic fertilization (cattle manure and biowaste compost) and of inorganic fertilization (Triple-Superphosphate) on plant and soil parameters were investigated on a P-poor loamy sand in Northeast Germany. The catch crops were sown in September and remained on the plots until next spring. Then the main crops oilseed rape (Brassica napus), spring barley (Hordeum vulgare), or spring wheat (Triticum aestivum) were cultivated. The yield and P uptake of the main crops were determined. Furthermore, in the soil the organic matter content, pH, phosphorus (P) in soil solution (Psol), double-lactate and oxalate P content, P sorption capacity, and degree of P saturation were measured. All applied forms of fertilizer affected the P contents in soil and the yields and P uptakes of main crops. For green fertilization especially phacelia was found to contribute to the P supply of the main crops, since it increased the P uptake as well as the P contents in soil significantly. The cultivation of ryegrass led to a reduction of the P availability in soil. For example, in average of the three years the Psol content was 0.35 mg L? 1when phacelia was cultivated and 0.22 mg L? 1 when ryegrass was cultivated. The cultivation of phacelia had a comparable effect on soil and plant parameters as the organic and mineral fertilization. An improved P availability and P utilization by catch cropping can reduce the need for external P input which may help to save the limited P resources worldwide.  相似文献

Desert soils are infertile, and the ability to improve them by P-fertilization is limited by the solubility of phosphate. We aimed to understand the function of phosphate solubilizing bacteria and the mechanisms behind phosphate solubilization in desert soils. Vegetated and barren desert soils, mine spoil and a fertile temperate grassland loam were sampled. Bacteria and fungi were isolated and identified, and their phosphate-solubilizing abilities were measured in vitro. The release of plant available PO4, SO4, NO3 and NH4 from desert soils did not compare with that of a grassland soil. Desert soils had substantially lower solubilization than grassland, 162 and 99–121 µg PO4-P g?1 dry soil, respectively. Phosphate-solubilizing bacteria and fungi were inhabiting the soils. Si addition increased phosphate solubilization of fungi by 50%. The isolated microbes were shown, using 31P nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analysis, to rapidly take-up both intracellular and extracellular phosphate during the phosphate solubilizing process. Desert soil had potentially active microbial populations that are capable to solubilize inorganic phosphorus; S and Si as the limiting factors. Acidification as the main mechanism to solubilize mineral phosphate was not as evident in our desert soils as in former studies dealing more fertile soils.  相似文献
