Writing nutrient management plans for Christmas tree production requires accurate values for nutrient removal and harvest records. Freshly cut trees of each of Norway spruce (Picea abies), Canaan fir (Abies balsamea var. phanerolepis), and Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) were collected in December 2005. Minimum, maximum, and mean cut tree size measurements were documented. Nutrient contents were calculated and there were no significant differences in nutrient uptake values among species. In a spacing of 1.5 m × 1.5 m (4302 trees per hectare), a clear-cut harvest would remove on average (kg/ha) 560 nitrogen (N), 60.87 phosphorus (P), 168 potassium (K), 243.51 calcium (Ca), 37.75 magnesium (Mg), 28.25 sulfur (S), 0.54 boron (B), 3.39 iron (Fe), 4.74 manganese (Mn), 0.11 copper (Cu), 2.79 zinc (Zn), 2.92 aluminum (Al), 105.85 chlorine (Cl), 0.02 molybdenum (Mo), and 1.44 sodium (Na). Except for Mn and Na, nutrient removal increased linearly as dry weight of whole tree increased.  相似文献

在全国杉木中心产区福建建瓯,选择不同栽植代数的杉木人工林,进行养分循环的比较研究,结果表明,不同栽植代数杉木林的养分循环存在差异。随栽植代数的增加,林分养分的年归还量、年吸收量及归还吸收比均呈递减趋势,表现为1代2代,而营养元素的周转期则呈增加趋势,说明栽植代数对杉木林养分的归还量及吸收量有较大影响,多代连栽不利于杉木林地肥力的恢复。随林分年龄的增加,杉木林养分年积累量呈明显下降趋势,1代成熟林比中龄林下降14.74%,2代成熟林比中龄林下降11.86%;而杉木林养分的年归还量、年吸收量和归还吸收比则随林分年龄的增加呈增加趋势,表现为成熟林中龄林,因此适当延长轮伐期有利于杉木林的养分归还。  相似文献

To investigate the role of arbuscular and ectomycorrhizas for growth and nutrition, Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), a species capable of establishing both types of symbioses, was used. Seedlings of two varieties of Douglas fir, var. menziesii (DFM) and var. glauca (DFG), differing in biomass production under non-mycorrhizal conditions, were planted in two soils of different nutrient status without preceding Douglas fir cultivation. After 2 years, the abundance of ectomycorrhizas was significantly higher on DFM than on DFG roots and higher in nutrient rich than in poor soil. Independent of the abundance of ectomycorrhiza colonization, roots of both Douglas fir varieties contained in most cases a minimum of six to nine different fungal species identified by ITS sequencing, which displayed both soil- and seed origin-specific patterns. Rhizopogon vinicolor was associated with DFM, whereas Cadophora finlandia, Sebacinaceous sp., Tricholoma sp. and a Tuber sp. were more frequently found on DFG roots. Ectendomycorrhizas were also identified and included under ectomycorrhiza for determination of nutrient relations. Net primary productivity and nitrogen-use efficiency were positively correlated with the degree of ectomycorrhiza colonization of Douglas fir seedlings suggesting that nitrogen accumulation did not keep pace with biomass production despite increased ectomycorrhizal colonization. Phosphorus-use efficiency was negatively correlated with the abundance of arbuscular mycorrhizas, suggesting higher efficiency of these fungi than of ectomycorrhizas for phosphorus supply to the host. DFM, which had higher inherited growth capacities than DFG, displayed higher ectomycorrhizal colonization than DFG. In our experimental design the physiology of the host tree and soil properties, but not the diversity of fungi present on roots, were decisive factors for formation and abundance of ectomycorrhiza.  相似文献

Japanese fir (Abies firma) forests on the urban-facing side ofMt. Oyama, eastern Japan are frequently exposed to acidic depositions. These forests have been declining more severely than those on the mountain-facing side. Chlorophyll, N, Mg, K, Ca, P and Al contents were determined for current, one- and two-year-old needles collected from the crown surfaces of Japanese fir tree forming the forest canopy (ca. 30 m height) on both sides of Mt. Oyama. Needle dry mass per needle area on the urban-facing side was significantly smaller than that on the mountain-facing sides for each needle age class. This result suggests that the development of internal tissues of fir needles on the urban-facing side is defective. N and Chl contents per needle area on the urban-facing side were smaller than those on the mountain-facing sides, indicating that photosynthetic activity per needle area is suppressed in the needles from the urban-facing side. For each needle age class, both area- and mass-based Mg contents were smaller on the urban-facing side than on the mountain-facing side, but mass-based Al contents were greater on the urban-facing side. These results suggest that acidic depositions cause nutritional disorders, which, in turn, leads to decreased needle productivity in the fir trees on the urban-facing side.  相似文献

A diverse assemblage of oribatid mites inhabits the canopy of coniferous trees in western North America. We tested the hypothesis that oribatid mites are microhabitat specific in old-growth Douglas fir, Western hemlock and western redcedar at the Wind River Crane Canopy Research Facility, Washington, USA. The upper 3 m of canopy of the three tree species were accessed using the canopy crane. Oribatida were extracted from 4 to 12 g dwt samples of alecterioid and foliose lichens using the twig-washing technique. Overall species richness was low, 16 species representing 11 families, with no species unique to this site. Species were absent from samples taken contemporaneously from the forest floor. All oribatid species were found in foliose lichens, whereas only nine species, in seven families, were recovered from alecterioid lichens. Oribatid species richness was lichen specific depending on the tree species. On Western hemlock both lichens supported similarly rich communities, but on Douglas fir and western redcedar foliose lichens supported the richer community.  相似文献

Abstract

The seasonal patterns of foliage nutrient concentrations and contents were monitored for two growing seasons in an 11‐year—old Pinus el1iottii stand. In the first growing season after needle initiation, N, P, K, Mg, and Zn concentrations decreased, but this was followed by an increase in the fall and winter months. Another drop in concentration of all elements, except P, occurred in the second growing season. Decreases in total contents indicated that this drop was a result of translocation to other tissues. In contrast to the mobile elements, the concentration and fascicle contents of Ca, Mn, and Al increased with aging of the needles.

Between‐tree variability was least for N, P, and Zn and the N, K, Mg, Mn, and Zn in the current foliage had consistently lower variation than that in the 1‐year‐old foliage. Between‐tree variation for K was lower in the winter than the spring.

For pine foliage, recommended sampling period for N, P, Mg, and Zn is mid to late summer and for the other elements it is late fall to late winter.

There are several sources of variation that influence the level of nutrients in tree foliage. The most important of these, apart from the tree nutrient status, are seasonal fluctuations, variation between trees, and age of needles . Smaller sources of variation are associated with position of the needles within the crown, diurnal changes, year to year variation, and analytical errors1,2. These variables must be studied in order to develop suitable sampling techniques and in Pinus this has been undertaken for P. banksiana 1, P. taeda 3, P. strobus 4, P. resinosa 4, P. sylvestris 5, and P. radiata 6,7. However, foliage sampling has not been studied in detail for slash pine (Pinus elliottii Englem var. elliottii) and earlier studies with other pines have been largely confined to temperate or cool climates.

This study reports the variation in elemental concentrations with season, age of foliage, and between slash pine trees growing in a subtropical climate in Florida.  相似文献

亚热带米槠次生林和杉木人工林林冠截留特征比较   总被引:5,自引:3,他引:2  
通过对福建三明地区米槠次生林和杉木人工林林内穿透雨和树干茎流进行对比分析,研究2种林分类型对降雨再分配规律的影响及其关键影响因素。在研究区2种林分内分别选取了3个20m×20m标准样地,同时设置了穿透雨和树干茎流收集装置,每场降雨后测定相应的水量。结果表明:研究期内年降雨量为1 706.6mm,米槠次生林和杉木人工林林内穿透雨量没有显著差异,总穿透雨量分别为1 204.0mm和1 289.9mm,分别占年降雨的70.6%和75.6%;米槠次生林树干茎流量显著高于杉木人工林(p0.05),两者的树干茎流率分别为4.8%和2.7%;米槠次生林和杉木人工林的林冠截留率分别为24.7%和21.8%。林内穿透雨量与林冠郁闭度和叶面积指数呈负相关关系,说明林分郁闭度越高则穿透雨量越少。米槠次生林和杉木人工林林冠截留的差异主要受林冠开阔度和树皮结构的影响,因此树种差异显著改变了森林生态系统降水再分配模式。  相似文献

The first full and comprehensive attempt was made to standardize the time of sampling for the leaf nutrient diagnosis for Kinnow mandarin in North West semi arid zone of India by analyzing ten essential elements collected from spring cycle leaves. The samples were collected from February to January at monthly intervals for two years and the results revealed that the 6–7 month (August–September) old spring cycle leaves collected from terminal position of non- fruiting terminal is the best suitable time for foliar nutrient analysis in Kinnow mandarin grown in the North West India. In addition, the leaf nutrient concentrations of nitrogen and calcium of this period were best correlated and leaf phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) were least correlated with fruit yield by linear correlation analysis.  相似文献

A trial of interplanting and non-interplanting villous amomum(Amomum villosum Lour.) under the canopy of Chinese fir(Cunninghamia lanceolata Hook.)at age 22 was established in Sanming,Fujian of China,and a survey on soil fertility was carried out 10 years after its establishment .Compared with the control(non-interplanting), the properties of soil humus in agroforestry system were ameliorated,with a higher level of humification and resynthesis of organic detritus .The soil microbial population and enzymatic actvities were both higher under the influence of villous amomum.Both the nutrient supplying and nutrient conserving capacities of the soil were improved,This agroforestry system exhibited an advantage of improved soil fertility,as well as an accelerated rowth of Chinese fir ,it was therefore a sustainable management system suited for Chinese fir in South China.  相似文献

Mineralization of soil organic carbon (C) plays a key role in supplying nutrient elements essential to plant growth. Changes of C mineralization of mixed stands of Chinese fir and Michelia macclurei (a broadleaf tree), pure M. macclurei stands, and pure Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata) stands established in 1983 after clear‐felling of a first‐generation Chinese fir forest were analyzed in Huitong, Hunan Province, China, and compared with those of a stand of native secondary evergreen broadleaf forest (NBF). The results showed that NBF soil had the greatest C mineralization. Mixture of Chinese fir and M. macclurei had no effect on total soil organic C in comparison with pure Chinese fir plantation, but significantly increased C mineralization from soils was detected in this study. This positive influence on C mineralization could be explained by the increase of soil labile C pools and soil microbial biomass and activity. From the analysis of C mineralization, soil microbial properties, and labile organic C, mixtures of broadleaf and Chinese fir can be considered to be an effective sustainable management model for a Chinese fir plantation. Given strong correlations with microbiological and biochemical characteristics of soils and an easier process of determination, hot water extraction, hot water–extractable C (HWC) could be used as an integrated measure of forest soil quality in mid‐subtropics.  相似文献

Despite the widespread recognition that silvicultural treatments (prescribed harvest residue burning, site preparation and replanting) applied following clearcutting may cause soil erosion and nutrient loss in Chinese fir ( Cunninghamia Lanceolata (Lamb.) Hook) plantations, it is unclear which specific treatment leads to nutrient loss and whether an appropriate implementation of the treatments during the dry season could avert nutrient loss altogether. To address these two questions, nutrient changes in Alliti-Udic Ferrosols soils within a Chinese fir plantation located in Huitong County, Hunan Province, were investigated through the analysis of soil samples sequentially collected at depths of 0–15 cm and 15–30 cm before and after harvest with the residue material kept in place, a prescribed residue burning operation, site preparation and tree replanting initiative took place. Individual treatments significantly affected the soil pH value, organic matter and C and available N at depths of 0–15 cm, but did not significantly influence soil bulk density, total N and P contents and available P contents. The soil pH value decreased with successive application of the treatments. Soil organic C increased by way of the remaining residue after clearcutting, but declined after prescribed residue burning and ultimately returned to pre-harvest values after site preparation as a result of soil displacement and burning ash. Available N contents decreased significantly after clearcutting and residue burning, but the reduction was more or less offset after site preparation took place. Results after all silvicultural treatments were applied showed that no significant reduction in soil organic matter, C and N and P occurred to date in the Chinese fir plantation studied, suggesting that nutrient loss could be averted if the treatments were implemented during the dry season.  相似文献

A sampling proficiency test is evaluated to analyze the influence of soil heterogeneity and sampling parameters on sampling error of nutrient contents. The influence of parameters on sampling error was assessed by multiple linear regression, regression tree analysis, and variance component analysis (VCA). Error was governed mainly by heterogeneity. Among sampling parameters, the number of increment samples had the largest influence. VCA revealed that the component between sampling repetitions was larger than the component between samplers. This suggests a predominance of heterogeneity for the influence on sampling error, increasing with field-scale heterogeneity. Sampling patterns of low complexity seemed sufficient for the homogeneous field, whereas sampling performance was enhanced by more complex sampling pattern on fields of intermediate and high heterogeneity. Overall, the results suggest that sampling error on arable fields sampled with simplified sampling schemes is often determined by soil heterogeneity and to a lesser degree by sampling parameters.  相似文献

Precipitation samples were collected for approximately 90 daily and 50 weekly sampling periods at Finley Farm, near Raleigh, North Carolina from August 1981 through October 1982. Ten wet-deposition samplers (AEROCHEM METRICS MODEL 301) were used; 4 samplers were operated for daily sampling, and 6 samplers were operated for weekly-sampling periods. This design was used to determine if. (1) collection efficiences of precipitation are affected by small distances between the Universal (Belfort) precipitation gage and collector; (2) measurable evaporation loss occurs and (3) pH and specific conductance of precipitation vary significantly within small distances. Average collection efficiencies were 97% for weekly sampling periods compared with the rain gage. Collection efficiencies were examined by seasons and precipitation volume. Neither factor significantly affected collection efficiency. No evaporation loss was found by comparing daily sampling to weekly sampling at the collection site, which was classified as a subtropical climate. Correlation coefficients for pH and specific conductance of daily samples and weekly samples ranged from 0.83 to 0.99.  相似文献

套种是杉木人工林经营的重要措施,磷是南方森林生态系统中主要限制性养分元素之一,但套种模式对土壤磷素的影响尚不明确。以亚热带杉木人工林表层(0-10 cm)土壤为对象,研究套种林(杉阔套种幼林、杉阔套种成熟林)和杉木幼林土壤理化性质和土壤各形态磷含量差异,分析套种对杉木人工林土壤磷含量的影响。结果表明:(1)不同套种林显著改变土壤总磷、土壤总无机磷、土壤总有机磷、土壤微生物生物量磷(MBP)和土壤酸性磷酸酶活性(APA),大小顺序均为杉阔套种成熟林>杉阔套种幼林>杉木幼林。(2)土壤各磷组分中活性磷含量较低,其中NaHCO3-Po在活性组分中占主导;土壤NaOH-Po是中等活性磷的主要组分,杉阔套种成熟林尤为显著;闭蓄态磷(Residual-P)在总磷含量中最高。(3)与杉木幼林相比,杉阔套种成熟林显著增加了树脂提取态磷(Resin-Pi)、碳酸氢钠提取态有机和无机磷(NaHCO3-Pi、NaHCO3-Po)、氢氧化钠提取态有机和无机磷(NaOH-Pi、NaOH-Po)、氢氧化钠残留提取态有机磷(NaOHu.s-Po)、盐酸提取态磷(HCl-Pi)和闭蓄态磷(Residual-P)含量;土壤总无机磷、NaHCO3-Po、HCl-Pi、NaHCO3-Pi、NaOHu.s-Pi和Residual-P对杉阔套种幼林的响应不敏感。(4)除含水率外不同林龄下杉阔套种林土壤磷形态与土壤理化性质(土壤总碳氮、土壤可溶性有机氮、土壤微生物生物量磷、酸性磷酸酶)呈正相关性(P<0.05)。冗余分析表明,土壤磷组分的变化主要受MBP调控,且MBP与有机磷组分(NaOHu.s-Po、NaOH-Po)和HCI-Pi呈显著正相关。总之,套种林的土壤磷素有效性高于杉木幼林,土壤养分状况更佳。  相似文献

林木苗期营养诊断和施肥研究是制定合理施肥方案的前提,能为提高苗木质量和造林成活率提供重要的科学依据。以福建漳平五一国有林场多年筛选的速生型杉木为试验材料,通过开展室内模拟不同的土壤养分条件,采用二次通用旋转设计的施肥方法,根据杉木生物量划分高、低产组,利用DRIS营养诊断的图解法和指数法,计算杉木适宜的施肥范围及需肥顺序。结合图解法和指数法两种分析方法得出:杉木植株中氮、磷、钾养分的适宜比值范围为P/N=0.137±0.03,N/K=1.102±0.113,K/P=6.881±1.203;处理7(施氮量为0.511 g/盆,施磷量为0.270 g/盆,施钾量为1.339 g/盆)的平衡状态最佳。总体而言,速生型杉木对钾肥的需求量相对较大,对磷肥的需求量次之,对氮肥的需求相对较弱。  相似文献

During 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008, trips were undertaken in the United States and Canada by members of the Department of Botany, Palacky University in Olomouc (Czech Republic) to record distributions and sample the diversity of wild and weedy Lactuca species. In that period, 16 states in the USA (Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming) and two provinces in Canada (Ontario, Quebec) were visited. Seven wild and weedy Lactuca species (L. serriola, L. saligna, L. virosa, L. canadensis, L. biennis, L. floridana, L. ludoviciana), an interspecific hybrid (L. canadensis?×?L. ludoviciana), and an undetermined Lactuca species were recorded, and 343 seed samples were collected from 200 locations. The largest number of wild Lactuca species that we observed was recorded in Iowa, and the largest number of samples was collected in California. The most common habitats of weedy species (L. serriola, L. saligna and L. virosa) were along transport corridors, such as roadsides, road ditches, parking sites and petrol stations, grassy slopes and ruderal places. The most frequent species was L. serriola, an Old World introduction, which we observed in all states and provinces visited, except for New York, and in broad range of elevations (up to 2,358?m a.s.l.). Lactuca saligna was recorded only one time in Salinas, California. Lactuca virosa was found repeatedly in Washington State along the road to the Mt. St. Helens and in Redwoods, California. Native North American taxa (L. canadensis, L. floridana, L. ludoviciana) were recorded only in Iowa. Lactuca biennis was found only in Canada in the southern part of Quebec. Records of diseases and pests showed only occasional occurrences of downy mildew (Bremia lactucae) and powdery mildew (Golovinomyces cichoracearum). Most plant-disease findings were made in Canada. Results of these efforts enrich our knowledge of the distribution, ecogeography and ecobiology of Lactuca species occurring spontaneously in North America. Seed collections (accessions) will be conserved in the working collection of the genebank at Palacky University to support future research in ecogeography, ecobiology, resistance and genetic polymorphisms, and to enrich of germplasm diversity available for lettuce breeding.  相似文献

杉木人工林皆伐前后径流水化学特征研究结果表明,杉木人工林皆伐后引起林地土壤养分大量流失,皆伐后2年内土壤N素、P素、盐基离子(K^ ,Na^ ,Ca^2 ,Mg^2 )的可溶性盐分的流失增量分别为20.54kg/hm^2、0.817kg/hm^2、42.67kg/hm^2和774.44kg/hm^2,表晨杉木人工林具有一定的调节、富集和保持土壤养分的能力。  相似文献

The effects of different types of Chinese fir stand,including those with varous composition (pure and mixed),in various cropping systems (first and continuous cropping system)and at different ages,on the nutrient status of soils the hilly regions of southern Anhui Province were studied by means of ecological sequential comparison on the basis of similar climate and soil type.The work was carried out in the Xiaoxi Forest Farm of Jingxian County and the Caijiaqiao Forest Farm of Jingde Coundy,where the soil is parayellow soil derived from phyllite and sandstone,The results revealed that with the increase of age,Chinese fir pure stand could accumulate organic matter and nitrogen in the soil but it resulted in decreasing of soil pH and base ions(especially Ca^2 ) compared to its mixed stand with broad-leaf trees such as Chinese sassafras,In order to improve the soil fertility,It would be better to mix Chinese fir with broad-leaf trees when afforestation In the management of Chinese fir pure stand,base compounds and phosphates should be added to the soil for mintaining soil fertility and raising and raising forest productivity.  相似文献

研究表明,人工杉木林地土壤有机物和养分库严重退化,地表枯枝落叶层中干和各种养分的贮量与阔叶林和混交林比较明显下降,土壤中有机质,全N量和碱解N含量的剖面分布也表现出相同的趋势。传统的炼山造林使杉木林地枯枝落叶和养分库是呈突变形式 经,林份组成单一,凋落物数量和养分含和也是杉木林土壤有机物和归库退化的重要因素。通过改进林木更新方式和改善林份组成很大程度上控制人工林有机物和养分库的退化。  相似文献

Changes in soil carbon pools under Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata) and bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescent) plantations substituted for a native forest (Quercus acutissima, Cyclobalanopsis glauca, Cas-tanops~.s sclerophyUa, Platycarya strobilacea, Lithocarpus glaber) were studied on the hills with acid parent rock and soils classified as red soils (Ferrisols) in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province of east China. It was found that total soil organic carbon (TSOC), easily oxidisable carbon (EOC) and water-soluble organic carbon(WSOC) under bamboo plantation were increased, but microbial biomass carbon (MBC) was decreased. On the contrary, Chinese fir induced declines of all fractions of C including TSOC, EOC, WSOC and MBC.The percentages of the active fractions of soil C (EOC and WSOC) were increased in the plantations as compared to the native broad-leaved forest, but proportions of soil organic C as MBC were decreased. It could be concluded that bamboo plantation had a great ability of not only fixing C but also accelerating soil C pool cycle, improving nutrient and microorganism activity; therefore, it is a good ecosystem and could be recommended for wide development. Chinese fir would shrink the soil C pool and deteriorate sou biological fertility, so it did not benefit CO2 fixing and land sustainable utilization.  相似文献
