Measures of ileal digestibility (ID) are used routinely as estimates of amino acid (AA) bio-availability in pig feed ingredients. Values for ID may be expressed as apparent (AID), standardized (SID), or true (TID). Values for AID are calculated by deducting the total ileal outflow of AA (the sum of endogenous losses (IAAend) and non-digested dietary AA) from dietary AA intake. The IAAend may be separated into basal losses, which are not influenced by feed ingredient composition, and specific losses induced by feed ingredient characteristics such as anti-nutritional factors and dietary fiber. If the AID values are corrected for total IAAend, then values for TID are calculated. Lack of additivity of AID values in feed formulation may be overcome by correcting AID values for basal IAAend only, which yields SID values. Until reliable procedures for the routine measurement of specific IAAend become available, it is suggested that SID values are used for feed formulation. It is advisable that basal IAAend are measured in digestibility experiments and that these losses are reported with SID values. 相似文献

A cause and effect relationship between glucagon-like peptide 1 (7, 36) amide (GLP-1) and cholecystokinin (CCK) and DMI regulation has not been established in ruminants. Three randomized complete block experiments were conducted to determine the effect of feeding fat or infusing GLP-1 or CCK intravenously on DMI, nutrient digestibility, and Cr rate of passage (using Cr(2)O(3) as a marker) in wethers. A total of 18 Targhee × Hampshire wethers (36.5 ± 2.5 kg of BW) were used, and each experiment consisted of four 21-d periods (14 d for adaptation and 7 d for infusion and sampling). Wethers allotted to the control treatments served as the controls for all 3 experiments; experiments were performed simultaneously. The basal diet was 60% concentrate and 40% forage. In Exp. 1, treatments were the control (0% added fat) and addition of 4 or 6% Ca salts of palm oil fatty acids (DM basis). Treatments in Exp. 2 and 3 were the control and 3 jugular vein infusion dosages of GLP-1 (0.052, 0.103, or 0.155 μg?kg of BW(-1)?d(-1)) or CCK (0.069, 0.138, or 0.207 μg?kg of BW(-1)?d(-1)), respectively. Increases in plasma GLP-1 and CCK concentrations during hormone infusions were comparable with increases observed when increasing amounts of fat were fed. Feeding fat and infusion of GLP-1 tended (linear, P = 0.12; quadratic, P = 0.13) to decrease DMI. Infusion of CCK did not affect (P > 0.21) DMI. Retention time of Cr in the total gastrointestinal tract decreased (linear, P < 0.01) when fat was fed, but was not affected by GLP-1 or CCK infusion. In conclusion, jugular vein infusion produced similar plasma CCK and GLP-1 concentrations as observed when fat was fed. The effects of feeding fat on DMI may be partially regulated by plasma concentration of GLP-1, but are not likely due solely to changes in a single hormone concentration. 相似文献

The effect of phytase and xylanase supplementation of a wheat-based pig diet on the ileal and total tract apparent digestibility of dietary components and minerals were studied in eight growing pigs fitted with a PVTC cannula in a randomized block design experiment. The diets (A and B) were similar in major ingredient composition and in nutrient content. In diet A, part of the limestone was replaced with di-calcium phosphate to increase the content of available phosphorus (P). Diet B was fed without or with supplementation with phytase (500 FTU/kg; diet BP), xylanase (4000 XU/kg; diet BX) and phytase + xylanase (500 FTU and 4000 XU/kg; diet BPX). There were no differences (P > 0.05) between diets in the ileal or total tract digestibility of organic matter (OM), NDF and crude protein (CP). The ileal and total tract digestibility for P and Ca differed (P < 0.05) between diets, while there were no treatment effects for Zn. The ileal and total tract digestibility for P and Ca was higher (P < 0.05) on diets BP and BPX than on the other diets. In conclusion, phytase improved the utilization of dietary P and Ca in a wheat-based diet, while xylanase had no additional benefits in terms of OM and CP digestibility or mineral utilization. Phytase had no effect on the digestibility of OM, CP or NDF. 相似文献

In vivo digestibility (eight animals) and solid particles passage rate measured by faecal Cr (four animals fistulated at the rumen) were determined on riverine buffalo bulls and Delle Langhe rams, given four diets at maintenance level (50 g/kg M0.75 per day of dry matter), according to a Latin square design, composed of a factorial combination of high and low NDF and of high and low protein undegradability. The diets were: L-30 = low NDF (530.0 g/kg DM), low undegradability of protein (29.6%, CP = 138.0 g/kg DM); L-40 = low NDF (537.0 g/kg DM), high undegradability of protein (41.0%, CP = 139.0 g/kg DM); H-30 = high NDF (583.0 g/kg DM), low undegradability of protein (28.3%, CP = 128.0 g/kg DM); H-40 = high NDF (NDF = 580.0 g/kg DM), high undegradability of protein (40.0%, CP = 128.0 g/kg DM). The digestibility of organic matter (66.68% vs. 64.32%, P < 0.05) and of the other analytical fractions (NSC, NDF, cellulose and hemicelluloses) was significantly higher in buffaloes with the exception of that of crude protein which was similar for the two species. Considering the diets within the species, the increased undegradable protein in the small intestine produces different effects: in the buffalo, it does not positively influence the digestibility of NSC but does increase that of cellulose, on the other hand in sheep it influences the digestibility of NSC. The post-ruminal digestibility of the undegraded protein, both in buffalo and sheep, is higher than that from protein of microbial origin. The passage rate of the marker of the solid particles, through the first compartment, k1 (2.86% h− 1 and 2.54% h− 1 for the buffalo and the sheep) and through the entire intestinal tract, MRT (57.50 and 58.88 h for the buffalo and the sheep) does not show significant differences in the two species. The passage rate of the marker of the solid particles in buffalo rumen, at variance with the structural carbohydrates of the diet, is more variable compared with that of the sheep. 相似文献

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of feeding regimen on chewing activity and ruminal passage of digesta in non-lactating cows fed pasture ad libitum. Six ruminally fistulated Holstein dry cows (mean ± SD; parity = 3.7 ± 0.5, length of pregnancy = 28 ± 2 W, BW = 692 ± 75 kg) were assigned randomly to two dietary treatments using a crossover design; three cows were rotationally grazed pasture (treatment G) and the other was fed harvested pasture ad libitum in confinement (treatment C). Passage of digesta was measured by fecal marker excretion using Co-EDTA and Dysprosium (Dy) labeled grass as fluid phase maker or solid phase marker, respectively. Particle size distribution of ruminal digesta and feces was measured by wet sieving method. No significant difference in dry matter intake (DMI) between treatments was observed. Eating time in treatment G (517 min/day or 38.6 min/kg DMI) was longer treatment C (384 min/day or 31.0 min/kg DM). Chewing time per DMI was similar in both treatments (70.0 vs. 66.1 min/kg DMI). Ruminal liquid outflow rate and rumen volume of cows in treatment G were significant higher and lower than treatment C (9.9 vs. 12.2%/h and 111.0 vs. 79.9 L, respectively). The mean retention time in small particle pool to be able to pass through the reticulo-omasum orifice (CMRT2) in cows of treatment C was longer (P < 0.05) than that for treatment G.. Logarithmic particle distribution and mean particle size of ruminal digesta at 24 h after feeding and feces particles had no significance between treatments. These results indicated that ingestive behavior of dry cow affected on eating time and ruminal volume, and it might have caused the higher ruminal liquid and particulate passage rate in treatment G compare to treatment C, with minimal effect on the particle size of digesta to pass from the rumen. 相似文献

Four mature crossbred sows were fistulated in the cecum, with two sows fed a corn-alfalfa:orchardgrass hay (46%) diet (CH) and two fed a corn-soybean meal diet (CS). Four experiments were conducted to evaluate buffers, incubation times, buffer pH and substrate and inocula sources in an in vitro, anaerobic, mixed-culture system. In vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) and substrate solubility in buffer (SS) were determined. In Exp. 1, substrates were CH and CS diets with cecal inocula obtained from CH- and CS-fed sows. The bicarbonate (B) buffer resulted in lower (P less than .01) and less variable SS for all treatments. In vitro dry matter digestibility was higher (P less than .01) for the CS diet at both 24 and 48 h incubation. Use of the B buffer also resulted in higher (P less than .001) IVDMD values. In Exp. 2, substrates were either as in Exp. 1 or were freeze-dried cecal contents (CC) from CH- or CS-fed sows. In vitro dry matter digestibility of CC was lower (P less than .006) than IVDMD of diet, while IVDMD was higher (P less than .02) with cecal inocula than fecal inocula. In Exp. 3, substrate-inocula treatments were CH-CH, CH-CS, CS-CH and CS-CS. Substrate solubility was lower (P less than .05) at pH 5.8 than at pH 6.8. In vitro dry matter digestibility was higher when substrate and inocula were from the same source and at pH 5.8. In Exp. 4, CC and inocula were from sows fed CH and CS diets with or without lasalocid. In vitro dry matter digestibility was higher with CC from lasalocid-fed sows and inocula from sows fed no lasalocid. The CH diet resulted in higher acetate (Ac) and lower propionate (Pr) molar proportions than did the CS diet, while lasalocid increased molar proportion Pr and decreased molar proportion Ac in cecal contents from sows fed either diet. Corn-alfalfa:orchardgrass hay-fed sows had a faster rate of digesta passage and shorter cecal retention time than did CS-fed sows. 相似文献

In 2 experiments, 48 weanling (initial BW: 13.5 ± 2.4 kg, Exp. 1) and 24 growing pigs (initial BW: 36.2 ± 4.0 kg, Exp. 2) were used to determine effects of a novel bacterial 6-phytase expressed in Aspergillus oryzae on the apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of phosphorus and calcium in corn-soybean meal diets fed to weanling and growing pigs. In Exp. 1 and 2, pigs were randomly allotted to 6 dietary treatments using a randomized complete block design and a balanced 2 period changeover design, respectively. In both experiments, 6 diets were formulated. The positive control diet was a corn-soybean meal diet with added inorganic phosphorus (Exp. 1: 0.42 and 0.86% standardized total tract digestible phosphorus and total calcium, respectively; Exp. 2: 0.32 and 0.79% standardized total tract digestible phosphorus and total calcium, respectively). A negative control diet and 4 diets with the novel phytase (Ronozyme HiPhos, DSM Nutritional Products Inc., Parsippany, NJ) added to the negative control diet at levels of 500, 1,000, 2,000, and 4,000 phytase units (FYT)/kg were also formulated. In Exp. 1, the ATTD of phosphorus was greater (P < 0.01) for the positive control diet (60.5%) than for the negative control diet (40.5%), but increased (linear and quadratic, P < 0.01) as phytase was added to the negative control diet (40.5% vs. 61.6%, 65.1%, 68.7%, and 68.0%). The breakpoint for the ATTD of phosphorus (68.4%) was reached at a phytase inclusion level of 1,016 FYT/kg. In Exp. 2, the ATTD of phosphorus was greater (P < 0.01) for the positive control diet (59.4%) than for the negative control diet (39.8%) and increased (linear and quadratic, P < 0.01) as phytase was added to the negative control diet (39.8% vs. 58.1%, 65.4%, 69.1%, and 72.8%). The breakpoint for the ATTD of phosphorus (69.1%) was reached at a phytase inclusion level of 801 FYT/kg. In conclusion, the novel bacterial 6-phytase improved the ATTD of phosphorus and calcium in both weanling and growing pigs. The optimum level of inclusion for this phytase is 800 to 1,000 FYT/kg of complete feed to maximize ATTD of phosphorus and calcium in weanling and growing pigs. 相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of guanidination, the conversion of dietary lysine to homoarginine, on the apparent ileal digestibilities (AID) of amino acids (AA) from 3 protein sources in diets for pigs. Six barrows, initial body weight of 18 ± 1.5 kg, fitted with a simple T-cannula at the distal ileum, were fed one of three corn starch-based diets that contained 18% crude protein (CP) from soybean meal, rapeseed meal or peas for an experimental period of 10 d according to a repeated 3 × 3 Latin square design. On d 9 of each experimental period, the pigs were fed one meal of the guanidinated test meals, which corresponded to their respective diets. In the test meals, 50% of the protein source in each diet was replaced, on an equal weight basis, with a guanidinated source. Guanidination increased the content of CP by 190, 116 and 28 g kg− 1 for soybean meal, rapeseed meal and peas, respectively. With the exception of lysine, the AID of CP and AA were 2.2 to 8.2 percentage units (pu) higher in the test meal than in the soybean meal diet. Other than arginine and isoleucine, the differences were significant (P < 0.05) for all indispensable AA. With the exception of lysine, the AID of CP and AA were 3.8 to 11.9 pu higher in the test meal than in the diet with peas. The differences were significant (P < 0.05) for all indispensable AA. Other than lysine, glycine and proline, the AID of CP and AA were slightly higher, 0.1 to 4.3 pu, in the test meal than in the rapeseed meal diet. Of the indispensable AA, the differences were significant (P < 0.05) for arginine, leucine and phenylalanine. The AID of lysine was 10.9 pu lower (P < 0.05) in the test meal than in the rapeseed meal diet, 61.5 vs. 72.4%, indicating that guanidination of rapeseed meal was not uniform and random. The increase in the AID of CP and AA after guanidination may result from solubilisation of protein and degradation of antinutritional factors such as fiber, trypsin inhibitors and tannins. 相似文献

An experiment was conducted with eight adult wethers housed individually in metabolism crates to determine the suitability of alkanes to serve as passage rate markers in sheep. Two diets consisting of lucerne (800 g DM/d), without (treatment ‘Lucerne’) and with coarse maize meal (270 g DM/d; treatment ‘Lucerne–Maize’) were fed to four sheep per diet twice daily in equal proportions. Lucerne fibre was prepared from chopped lucerne silage and mordanted with chromium during 24 h cooking with sodium–lauryl–sulfate (Chromium–mordanted lucerne fibre: LF-Cr). The synthetic alkane C36 was dissolved in heptane and sprayed onto lucerne fibre which had been similarly prepared (LF-C36). C28 was dissolved in heptane and sprayed onto maize meal (M-C28). Markers were fed at the same time as a pulse dose. For a period of 10 days, rectal grab faeces samples were taken in intervals of increasing length (2–12 h). A multi-compartment-model was fitted to the marker excretion curves.Maximum marker excretion appeared earlier for alkane markers than for Cr in both treatments. Within treatment Lucerne no significant differences between Cr and C36 were detected for Rumen mean retention time (MRT) (P > 0.05). Numerical differences were observed for RumenMRT in treatment Lucerne–Maize between LF-Cr and LF-C36 and M-C28 (33, 25 and 25 h), respectively. Further numerical differences were observed in CaecumMRT for LF-Cr and LF-C36 in treatment Lucerne and for all markers in Lucerne–Maize. In treatment Lucerne, faecal recoveries of markers LF-Cr and LF-C36 were 95 and 85%, in treatment Lucerne–Maize 101 and 88%, and for M-C28 in the treatment Lucerne-Maize only 75%.It was shown that the lower faecal recovery of alkanes by itself does not cause biased estimates of passage rate parameters. However, further investigations are necessary to determine the relationship between the time a particle has spent in the digestive tract and the disappearance of the alkane marker, as this could introduce a bias to the estimate. The major shortcoming of alkanes as passage rate markers seemed to be migration between solid and liquid phases of the digesta. This problem could be overcome by new labelling procedures or the use of 13C-labelled native alkanes. 相似文献

Effects of protein and carbohydrate sources on digestibility and digesta flow rate in weaned pigs fed a high-fat, dry diet 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Two trials were conducted to evaluate the effects of protein source (48% CP soybean meal or casein) and carbohydrate source (25% dextrose or 25% lactose) on digestibility and digesta flow rate in early-weaned pigs. Diets contained 10% crude soybean oil and were formulated to contain 3.5 g lysine, 2.3 g Ca and 2.0 g P per 1,000 kcal DE of diet. In Trial 1, nutrient digestibility was greater for older than for younger pigs. Apparent digestibilities for energy, DM, CP and fat were lower (P less than .08) for younger and older pigs fed soybean meal rather than casein. Digestibility of soluble carbohydrates was less (P less than .02) for younger pigs fed soybean meal rather than casein as a protein source. Fat digestibility was lower (P less than .05) in younger pigs fed dextrose than in pigs fed lactose. A protein X carbohydrate source interaction (P less than .01) existed for fat digestibility by older pigs. In Trial 2, pigs were euthanatized, and digestibilities anterior to the ileum and the colon (pre-ileal and pre-cecal) were determined. At the ileum, fat digestibility was lower (P less than .05) for pigs fed soybean meal, whereas CP digestibility was lower (P less than .05) for pigs fed either soybean meal or dextrose. A protein X carbohydrate interaction was observed for ileal digestibilities of DM (P less than .06) and total carbohydrates (P less than .03) with lowest values obtained for the soybean meal plus dextrose diet. For casein diets, digestibility values were similar between the two carbohydrate sources.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS) 相似文献

Digesta passage rate and digestibility of diet components (dOM, dNDF and dADF) were measured in the entire digestive tract of six ponies to determine the effects of the dietary hay:grain ratio on the efficiency of fiber digestion. Three diets based on chopped meadow hay and rolled barley were tested in a 3×3 Latin square experiment: 100% hay (100:0, 114gDM/KgBW0.75/day), 70% hay—30% barley (70:30, 69gDM/KgBW0.75/day) and 50% hay—50% barley (50:50, 58gDM/KgBW0.75/day). Particles markers (Europium for hay and Ytterbium for barley) and a solute marker (Cr-EDTA) were used for passage rate measurements. As the proportion of barley in the diet increased, DM intake decreased and mean retention time (MRT) of all markers increased significantly. Even if the barley meal was fed before the hay, excretion rates of all markers were similar. The digestibility of OM increased linearly (P<0.05) whereas that of NDF and ADF decreased (P<0.05). Although the MRTs increased when grain was fed, the efficiency of fiber utilization decreased. Further investigation on fibrolytic microbial ecosystem are required to explain these observations. 相似文献

Five female sika deer and three male Holstein cattle were offered alfalfa hay cubes at 2% (deer) and 2.5% (cattle) of bodyweight, respectively. The passage rate through the digestive tract, digestibility and rumen fermentation of the animals were determined. The rate of ruminal passage was higher and the total mean retention time in the digestive tract was shorter in deer than in cattle. In addition, the rate of post‐ruminal passage in deer was lower. The digestibilities of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein and fiber in deer were significantly lower than in cattle (P < 0.05). The concentration of total volatile fatty acids in the rumen was significantly higher in deer than in cattle. The molar percentage of acetic acid was lower and that of valeric acid was higher in deer (P < 0.05). The number of protozoa was somewhat higher in deer. These results suggested that the lower digestibility in deer might be a result of the shorter retention time in the digestive tract. 相似文献

The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationships between chewing behavior, digestibility, and digesta passage kinetics in steers fed oat hay at restricted and ad libitum intakes. Four Hereford steers, with an initial average BW of 136 kg, were used in an experiment conducted as a balanced 4 × 4 Latin square with 4 treatments (levels of intake) and 4 periods. Animals were fed lopsided oat hay (Avena strigosa Schreb.) at 4 levels of intake (as a percentage of BW): 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and ad libitum. Digestibility, chewing behavior, and digesta passage kinetic measurements were recorded during the experimental period. Chewing rates during eating and ruminating [(chews?min(-1))/g of DMI?kg(-1) of BW?d(-1)] decreased (P = 0.018 and P = 0.032, respectively) with increased DMI (g?kg(-1) of BW?d(-1)), whereas total chewing and total time spent on each chewing activity increased. Calculated total energy expended by the chewing activity was 4.2, 4.4, 5.2, and 5.3% of ME intake for DMI of 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5% of BW and ad libitum, respectively, indicating that adjustments in animal chewing behavior may be a mechanism of reducing energy expenditure when forages are fed at restricted intake. Hay digestibility decreased (P < 0.001) with increased DMI (r = -0.865). Digesta mean retention time (h) was strongly correlated with DMI (r = -0.868) and OM digestibility (r = 0.844). At reduced intake, hay digestibility was enhanced (P < 0.001) by extending digesta retention time and by increasing chewing efficiency, highlighting the relationship between chewing behavior and the digestive process. Fractional outflow rate of particulate matter from the reticulorumen (k(1)) was positively correlated with total chews, emphasizing that the decrease in particle size caused by chewing facilitates particle flow through the digestive tract. Increased hay intake also increased (P < 0.001) k(1), whereas passage rate of the liquid phase, transit time, and rumen fill were not affected (P > 0.05). The latter was correlated with rumen volume (r = 0.803). In conclusion, the results of this study indicate that animals fed at restricted intake increased chewing rate when eating and ruminating, which, along with a longer digesta retention time, contributed to enhance feed digestibility. 相似文献

The effects of a trickle challenge with the equivalent of 10,000 infective Ostertagia ostertagi larvae per day on appetite, digestibility, rate of passage of digesta and liveweight gain were investigated in 12 calves assigned to infected, pair-fed control and ad libitum-fed control groups. Digestibility of cellulose, nitrogen, organic matter and dry matter was determined using insoluble acid detergent fibre as a marker on two occasions during the study: (i) Between days 31 and 38, when abomasal dysfunction was greatest; and (ii) between days 52 and 58, beginning approximately one week after anthelmintic treatment (day 46). Rate of passage of digesta was measured using chromium mordanted hay, fed to each calf after each digestibility study period. Voluntary feed intake of the infected group was significantly reduced from day 37 with the greatest depression (77 per cent) occurring just before anthelmintic treatment. The drop in appetite was responsible for nearly 73 per cent of the difference in liveweight gain between the infected and ad libitum fed control groups. The apparent digestibility coefficient of nitrogen was significantly depressed (22 per cent) in the infected group though was restored to control levels by anthelmintic treatment. The rate of passage of digesta was significantly reduced in both pair-fed control (50 per cent) and infected (74 per cent) groups. Anthelmintic treatment increased the latter though only to pair-fed control group levels. It is suggested that the marked hypergastrinaemia seen in the infected calves may have been in part responsible for the decreased rate of passage of digesta and in turn for the drop in appetite. 相似文献
