A fully virulent field Anaplasma marginale isolate, passaged to a splenectomised white tailed deer, lost virulence for cattle after 18 months in the non-bovine host. This attenuated A. marginale produced a mild response in four 18-month-old Holstein steers characterised by an average 2.4% parasitaemia, a 13% drop in PCV and a positive serological response. All vaccinated steers were immune to challenge with a fully virulent, heterologous A. marginale when compared with non-vaccinated controls.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To assess the effect of breed of cattle on the transmission rates of and innate resistance to Babesia bovis and B bigemina parasites transmitted by Boophilus microplus ticks. DESIGN: Groups of 56 purebred B indicus and 52 B indicus cross B taurus (50%, F1 generation) steers were placed in a paddock seeded with and also naturally infested with B microplus which were the progeny of females ticks fed on B taurus cattle specifically infected with a virulent isolate of B bovis. The cattle were placed in the infested paddock 50 days after seeding had started. PROCEDURE: Cattle were inspected from horseback daily for 50 days. Clinically ill cattle were brought to yards and assessed by monitoring fever, depression of packed-cell volume, parasitaemia and severity of clinical signs. Any animals that met preset criteria were treated for babesiosis. Blood samples were collected from all cattle on day 28, 35 and 42 after exposure and antibodies to Babesia spp and packed cell volume measured. RESULTS: All steers, except for one crossbred, seroconverted to B bovis and B bigemina by day 35 and 75% of the crossbred steers showed a maximum depression in packed cell volume of more than 15% due to infection with Babesia spp compared with only 36% of the B indicus group. Ten of the 52 crossbreds and 1 of the 56 B indicus steers showed severe clinical signs. Two of the crossbreds required treatment of which one died 2 weeks after initial treatment. CONCLUSIONS: Pure-bred B indicus cattle have a high degree of resistance to babesiosis, but crossbred cattle are sufficiently susceptible to warrant the use of preventive measures such as vaccination. Transmission rates of B bovis and B bigemina to B indicus and crossbred cattle previously unexposed to B microplus were the same.  相似文献

The immunity induced by frozen and fresh Anaplasma centrale vaccines against anaplasmosis caused by A. marginale was tested in 12-month old Friesian steers. A. centrale parasitaemia occurred in all cattle inoculated with both types of vaccine. The average maximal decrease in PCV for the frozen and fresh vaccines was 41.0 and 40.3% respectively. All cattle recovered spontaneously. Vaccinated and control steers of the same age were challenged six months later with doses of 10(6), 10(7) or 10(8) A. marginale organisms. Vaccinated cattle showed average maximal A. marginale parasitemia of 1.2-4.0 versus 10.3-12.0% in control cattle. The average maximal decrease in packed cell volume (PCV) was 33.1 and 30.0% for steers vaccinated with frozen or fresh vaccine, respectively, and 57.4% for the non-vaccinated steers. All vaccinated cattle recovered spontaneously from the A. marginale infection while 7 out of 8 control steers required specific treatment. It thus appears that both frozen and fresh A. centrale vaccines are equally capable of inducing partial protection against infection with A. marginale and of preventing severe red blood cell destruction.  相似文献

Objective To assess the innate resistance of naive Bos taurus, Bos taurus cross Bos indicus and Bos indicus cattle to virulent Babesia bovis, B bigemina and Anaplasma marginale parasites. Design Groups of 10, pure B indicus, fi B indicus cross,/B indicus cross and pure B taurus steers were infected with virulent B bovis, B bigemina and A marginale parasites. Procedure Sequential infections were carried out by intravenous inoculation of infected blood containing 1 times 108 parasites of B bovis, followed by B bigemina and then A marginale. To assess resistance, measurements were made of parasitaemia, rectal temperature, packed cell volume and the number within a group requiring chemotherapy to control infection. There was a recovery period between each infection. Results Infection with B bovis showed that pure B indicus steers were significantly more resistant to B bovis infection than the other groups, with none of this group requiring treatment. There was no significant difference between fi B indicus cross and/B indicus cross with 30% and 20%, respectively, of steers in these groups requiring treatment. The pure B taurus steers were significantly more affected then those in the other three groups with 80% requiring treatment. Infections of B bigemina produced a mild response in comparison to that of B bovis and none of the steers required treatment. However, the pure B taurus group was significantly more affected than the other three groups for all other measurements. After the A marginale infection, B indicus steers were moderately affected with 50% requiring treatment, whereas 70% of the fi B indicus group, 80% of the /B indicus cross group and 100% of the pure B taurus group required treatment. Conclusions All breeds of cattle, ranging from pure B indicus to pure B taurus may be at risk of severe disease if exposed to virulent A marginale. The results confirm that pure B indicus cattle are relatively resistant to B bovis, but there could be a significant risk of severe mortalities if cross-bred herds are exposed to virulent infection.  相似文献

Forty 11- to 13-month-old Friesian calves were inoculated with live Babesia bovis vaccine. Twenty of the calves were treated with long acting oxytetracycline seven and 15 days after receiving the vaccine. Parasites were detected in nine of the treated calves compared with all 20 of the untreated control group. Treated calves were less febrile and had higher packed cell volumes than control animals. All calves from both groups developed a considerable antibody titre to B bovis. It appears that long acting oxytetracycline can mitigate the response of sensitive cattle breeds to live antibabesial vaccine and prevent damage caused by excessive multiplication of B bovis parasites.  相似文献

The cross-protective capacity of culture-derived soluble immunogens against heterologous Babesia bovis strains from different geographical locations of Latin America was examined. Susceptible yearling cattle were either immunized with immunogens derived from Venezuelan or Mexican strains, or were administered a multi-component immunogen containing antigens of the Australian, Mexican and Venezuelan strains. Cattle were challenged with virulent B. bovis organisms of the Argentinian, Colombian, Ecuadorean, Mexican and Venezuelan strains. The major parameters used to evaluate cross-protection were the following: presence, level and duration of parasitemia; maximal PCV reduction; level and duration of fever; determination of fibrinogen and cryofibrinogen; homologous and heterologous antibody levels; and net gains in body weight. Results showed good protection with a Venezuelan B. bovis immunogen after homologous and heterologous challenge exposures. A low degree of cross-immunity was observed when cattle vaccinated with the Mexican immunogen were challenged with each of the heterologous strains.  相似文献

Groups of cattle were inoculated subcutaneously with (i) a recombinant DNA-derived Babesia bovis protein (KaBbl-GZ) fused to beta-galactosidase and combined with adjuvants, or (ii) native beta-galactosidase (GZ) plus adjuvant, or (iii) adjuvant only or (iv) a live, attenuated B bovis vaccine. KaBbl-GZ was produced in the lambda gt11-amp3 system as a 5-10 kD babesial polypeptide linked to GZ. KaBbl has previously been shown to be an immunodominant antigen of B bovis, localised at the apex of the parasite, and present in a range of B bovis strains. High levels of GZ antibodies were observed in KaBbl-GZ and GZ inoculated cattle, but specific KaBbl antibodies could not be detected by ELISA. Five months after primary inoculation, all cattle were blood challenged with a virulent heterologous B bovis strain. Despite four inoculations with KaBbl-GZ, significant protection against the challenge was not observed.  相似文献

Six Holstein steers (231 +/- 17 kg) housed in metabolism crates were used in a randomized complete block design with three blocks of two steers based on previous serum insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-I concentrations. One of the two steers in each block was implanted with 120 mg trenbolone acetate and 24 mg oestradiol-17beta on day 0. None of the steers was fed ractopamine-HCl in the initial 28 days, and then all steers were fed 200 mg of ractopamine-HCl per steer daily from day 28 until the end of the trial. Steers were fed a corn-based diet (62% rolled corn, 20% expeller soya bean meal and 15% alfalfa hay) twice daily with an average dry matter intake of 4.8 kg/day. Blood and M. longissimus biopsy samples were collected prior to implantation and on days 14, 28, 42 and 56. There was an implant x ractopamine interaction for retained nitrogen (p < 0.05); ractopamine feeding led to only small improvements in nitrogen retention for implanted steers (45.9 g/day vs. 44.5 g/day), whereas ractopamine led to larger increases in nitrogen retention for non-implanted steers (39.0 g/day vs. 30.4 g/day). Implantation increased (p < 0.05) and ractopamine tended to decrease (p = 0.06) serum IGF-I concentrations. Implantation tended to increase (p = 0.16) and ractopamine decreased (p < 0.05) mRNA expression of IGF-I in the M. longissimus. Intraerythrocytic forms of B. bovis were exposed to 350 Grays (Gy) γ irradiation and were then injected intravenously into intact two and three year old Hereford steers. One of 15 steers died on initial infection and subsequently six steers were given a virulent heterologous challenge three weeks after recovery; all six animals were highly immune. The remaining eight animals were kept under quarantine conditions for 10 months and were then challenged with a different virulent heterologous strain of B. bovis. Seven of eight were highly immune, but one animal died. Subsequently a further 12 steers were injected intravenously with 1 × 108 irradiated organisms. All showed only mild transient clinical signs. After 12 months quarantine in a tick-free area these animals were then challenged with a virulent heterologous strain and all 12 were shown to be highly immune. Irradiation reduced the infective dose from 1 × 108 to 2.5 × 103 parasites. These parasites multiplied at the same rate, and achieved the same maximum parasitaemia as the parent non-irradiated strain, but the disease produced by them was not severe. A dose of 2.5 × 103 non-irradiated paasites was lethal to all of the four animals which received it. Bovine babesiosis is a tick-borne disease caused by Babesia spp. haemoprotozoans. The disease is of great importance at tick enzootic unstable areas and hampers cattle production in several developing countries. The available immunisation alternatives are pre-immunition and attenuated vaccines. Despite being efficient and protective, they are unsafe as they use cattle blood cells as inoculum and may potentially spread other diseases. Another alternative to help in babesiosis control would be the identification of genetically resistant cattle to Babesia bovis infection. The objective of this work was to phenotype cattle based on primary response against B. bovis infection. Two-hundred and forty half-sib Hereford and Aberdeen Angus heifers (120 animals from each breed), 12-18-month-old na?ve cattle, originated from a tick-free area in Southern Brazil, were used in the experiment. Animals were monitored following an inoculation with 1x10(7)B. bovis parasitised erythrocytes. Results showed three different phenotypes: 1-'susceptible', animals with babesiosis clinical signs that received treatment to avoid death; 2-'intermediate', animals with clinical signs: parasitaemia, >or=21.5% reduction in packed cell volume (PCV) and increase in body temperature when compared to their pre-challenge physiological parameters, no specific treatment was needed as animals self recovered from the disease, and 3-'resistant', animals without clinical signs that showed B. bovis presence in blood smears, <21.5% PCV reductions, with little or no increase in body temperature and no need for babesiosis treatment. The frequencies of each phenotype were: 45.4, 26.7, and 27.9%, respectively, demonstrating the existence of phenotypic variation for B. bovis in Bos taurus cattle.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To assess the innate resistance of and transmission in naive Bos taurus cross Bos indicus and purebred Bos indicus cattle when placed in a paddock with cattle infected with Anaplasma marginale and carrying Boophilus microplus ticks. DESIGN: A group of 49 purebred B indicus, and 48 B indicus cross B taurus (50%, F1 generation) 24-month-old steers were kept in the same paddock with cattle artificially infected with a virulent isolate of A marginale and Boophilus microplus. The cattle were seronegative for A marginale at the start of the trial but had previously been exposed to Babesia bovis and B bigemina. PROCEDURE: Cattle were inspected twice weekly for 118 days. Whole blood, blood smears and serum samples were collected from the cattle on day 37 after exposure and then at regular intervals to day 83 after exposure to measure packed-cell volumes, parasitaemias and antibody titres to A marginale. Any animals that met preset criteria were treated for anaplasmosis. On day 83 all cattle were treated with an acaricide and cattle infected with A marginale were removed from the rest of the group. RESULTS: A marginale was detected in blood smears from 14 crossbred and 9 B indicus steers between days 56 and 72 after exposure. Five and two of the infected crossbred and B indicus steers required treatment, respectively. One of the Bos indicus cattle died as a result of the A marginale infection despite treatment. Antibodies to A marginale were detected in the 23 infected cattle. The mean packed-cell volume depression was 40 and 37% in the affected crossbred and Bos indicus groups, respectively. There was no significant difference detected in susceptibility between these two groups. CONCLUSIONS: Innate resistance of purebred B indicus and crossbred cattle was not significantly different. The results confirm that purebred B indicus and crossbred cattle are sufficiently susceptible to warrant the use of vaccination against Anaplasma infections.  相似文献

Thirty‐six Angus and Angus × Simmental cross steers (initial BW 269.5 ± 22.3 kg) were used to determine the effects of dietary boron (B) on performance and immune function. Steers were fed on one of the three dietary treatments: (i) control (no supplemental B; 7.2 mg B/kg DM), (ii) 5 mg supplemental B/kg DM and (iii) 50 mg supplemental B/kg DM, from sodium borate for 78 days. Supplementation of dietary B had no effect on body weight (BW) gain, feed intake or gain:feed during the study. Jugular blood samples were collected prior to feeding on days 28, 63 and 77 for plasma‐B analysis. Supplementation of dietary B increased (p < 0.001) plasma B‐concentration in a dose‐responsive manner. Furthermore, plasma B‐concentration was correlated (p < 0.001; R2 = 0. 95) to daily B‐intake (mg B/day). Jugular blood was also collected, from an equal number of steers from each treatment, on day 42 or 44 for determination of in vitro production of interferon‐γ and tumour necrosis factor‐α from isolated monocytes and assessment of lymphocyte proliferation. Dietary B did not affect T‐ or B‐lymphocyte proliferation or in vitro cytokine production from monocytes. On day 49 of the study, the humoral immune response was assessed by i.m. injection of a 25% pig red blood cell (PRBC) solution for determination of anti‐PRBC IgG and IgM titre responses. Boron‐supplemented steers had greater (p = 0.035) anti‐PRBC IgG titres than controls on day 7 but not on day 14 or 21 post‐injection. Anti‐PRBC IgM titres did not differ throughout the sampling period. Results from this study indicate that supplemental B had minimal effects on immune function and did not affect performance of growing steers.  相似文献

Antibody responses in indigenous village and commercial chickens vaccinated with 12 thermostable Newcastle disease (ND) vaccine and protection levels against challenge with a virulent field isolate were determined. The antibody response of village chickens vaccinated by eye drop revealed that 30, 60 and 90 days after primary vaccination, the mean log2 HI titres were 6.1, 5.4 and 3.6, respectively, whereas for commercial chickens, the antibody response after 14, 30 and 90 days were 8.2, 5.1 and 4.2, respectively. Village chickens vaccinated orally via drinking water had mean log2 HI titres of 3.4 after 30 days. After booster vaccination, the mean HI titre was 5.4 and 3.3 after 30 and 60 days post-secondary vaccination (i.e. 60 and 90 days after primary vaccination). Antibody response of mean log2 HI titres of 2.6 was recorded 30 days after primary vaccination orally through food; 30 and 60 days after secondary vaccination (i.e. 60 and 90 days after primary vaccination), mean log2 HI titres were 5.3 and 3.2, respectively. All commercial and village chickens vaccinated by eye drop survived the challenge trial whereas village chickens vaccinated through drinking water and food had protection levels of 80% and 60% 30 days after primary vaccination, respectively. However, 30 days after booster vaccination, the protection level was 100%. At 60 days after secondary vaccination, the protection level dropped again to 80% for chickens vaccinated orally. All control chickens used in the challenge trials developed clinical ND and died 3-5 days after inoculation with the virulent virus. Supported by laboratory findings, I2 strain of NDV seemed to be avirulent, immunogenic and highly protective against virulent isolates of NDV. It may be a suitable vaccine to use in village chickens to vaccinate them against ND in rural areas.  相似文献

Thirty-three early-weaned steers (average age at weaning = 132 days) were used to evaluate effects of protein supplementation of forage diets vs. a 70% concentrate diet fed during a backgrounding phase (84 d) on metabolic profiles and febrile response to an infectious bovine herpesvirus-1 (BHV-1) challenge during a receiving phase (27 d). Backgrounding treatments included a bermudagrass hay diet (CTRL); CTRL plus soybean meal (SBM) fed at 0.175% of BW (as-fed); CTRL plus SBM at 0.35% of BW; or a 70% concentrate (CONC) diet. During the receiving phase, all steers were fed CONC and intranasally challenged on d 85 with an infectious dose of BHV-1. Unexpectedly, 3 d after the BHV-1 challenge, serum IgG was greater (P < 0.05) for steers fed forage diets vs. CONC. Three and 4 d after the BHV-1 challenge, rectal temperatures were greater (P < 0.01) for protein-supplemented steers vs. CTRL. We conclude that a higher quality diet fed to early-weaned steers during a backgrounding phase enhances average daily gain and gain to feed ratio, and increases febrile response (measured by rectal temperature) to an infectious BHV-1 respiratory challenge.  相似文献

Effects of glycine (Gly) and B-vitamins on sulphur amino acid (AA) utilization were studied in growing steers maintained under conditions where methionine (Met) was first limiting. Conditions were generated by limit feeding a diet low in ruminally non-degraded protein and abomasally infusing an AA mixture limiting in Met. Retained N tended (p = 0.07) to improve when steers received 10 mg folate, 10 mg vitamin B6, and 0.10 mg vitamin B12 daily. Hepatic vitamin B12 (p = 0.08) and folate (p = 0.05) concentrations increased with vitamin supplementation. In another trial, factorial treatments were 2 or 5 g/day L-Met and 0 or 50 g/day Gly infused abomasally. Retained N increased (p < 0.05) in response to Met, and responses were numerically larger in the presence of supplemental Gly. In a different trial, factorial treatments were 0 or 2.4 g/day L-cysteine (Cys) and 0 or 40 g/day Gly. Retained N was not affected by Cys in the absence of Gly, but was increased by Cys when Gly was supplemented (interaction, p = 0.01). B-vitamin status may affect sparing of Met by Cys. Supplemental Gly improved responses to supplemental Met and Cys.  相似文献

Following inoculation of 34 Bos indicus (Boran) cattle with a Theileria parva bovis (Boleni) stock from Zimbabwe, 18 animals underwent mild theilerial reactions, 12 underwent moderate reactions, three suffered severe reactions and one died. When these animals were subsequently challenged with different virulent stocks of either T.p. parva (Muguga, Marikebuni or Mariakani) or T.p. lawrencei (Ngong 1 or Nanyuki) from Kenya, all except two animals resisted challenge. The two reactors were part of the group challenged with the T.p. parva (Mariakani) stock. All 12 susceptible control animals underwent severe reactions and 11 died. The results of these experiments suggest that T.p. bovis (Boleni) may be used in some situations to immunize cattle against East Coast fever without the need to provide concomitant chemotherapy as in the infection and treatment method of immunization.  相似文献

Bovine babesiosis is caused by Babesia bovis and B. bigemina in Argentina. These protozoans are prevalent north of parallel 30 degrees S, where their natural vector Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus is widespread. To prevent babesiosis outbreaks in endemic areas, an increasing population of 4-10-month-old calves are vaccinated with low virulence B. bovis R1A (BboR1A) and B. bigemina S1A (BbiS1A) strains. In non-endemic areas, an additional calf population is also vaccinated and boostered as adults, before they are relocated to R. microplus-endemic areas of the country. Serological tests are currently utilized not only to determine the status of natural Babesia spp. infections, but also to confirm the infection caused by vaccine strains. For this purpose, an indirect enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) based on the recombinant major surface antigen-2c (rMSA-2c) of B. bovis expressed in Escherichia coli, was standardized using sera from Babesia spp. experimentally infected cattle. ELISA(rMSA-2c) was validated using sera obtained weekly during 336 days from steers primed and boostered with BboR1A and/or BbiS1A on days 0 and 154, then compared with the immunofluorescent-antibody test (IFAT). Western blot (WB) protein analysis was used to confirm the specificity of the immune response to rMSA-2c. The sensitivity and specificity for ELISA(rMSA-2c) were 92 and 96% after the Babesia spp. priming and 88 and 73% after the boostering immunization, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity for IFAT were 99 and 90% after priming and 92 and 98% after boostering, respectively. Unlike IFAT, ELISA(rMSA-2c) detected a remarkable delayed booster response and a significant drop in specificity between 35 and 84 days after the booster immunization. Simultaneously, 87.5% of cattle boostered with B. bigemina showed cross-reactions in the ELISA(rMSA-2c), particularly between 63 and 77 days after the inoculation. A reaction against E. coli was observed, since bands of approximately 40 and/or 42kDa were detected using sera from cattle before and after Babesia spp. inoculations. ELISA(rMSA-2c) showed to be useful between 42 and 98 days after priming with Babesia spp. live vaccine to evaluate the success of infecting cattle. The objectives were to determine if PCV2 vaccination is effective in reducing disease and lesions associated with PRRSV and PCV2 coinfection and if there is a difference between intradermal (ID) and intramuscular (IM) route of PCV2 vaccination. Seventy-four, 21-day-old pigs were randomly allocated into one of six groups. On day 0, pigs were vaccinated with 2ml Suvaxyn((R)) PCV2 One Dose (Fort Dodge Animal Health, Inc.) by intramuscular (VAC-M-COINF) or intradermal (VAC-D-COINF) routes. On day 28, pigs were either singularly (PRRSV-only, PCV2-only) or coinfected (COINF) with PRRSV and PCV2. All pigs in all groups were necropsied on day 42. All vaccinated pigs seroconverted (IgM, IgG, and neutralizing antibodies) to PCV2 between 14 and 28 days post-vaccination. After challenge, all groups inoculated with PRRSV had reduced average daily gain compared to CONTROLS and PCV2-only (P<0.001). COINF pigs had significantly (P<0.05) reduced anti-PCV2-IgG antibody levels and neutralizing antibody levels compared to both vaccinated groups. COINF pigs had more severe lung lesions compared to VAC-M-COINF (P<0.05). COINF pigs had higher amounts of PCV2 DNA in serum samples and feces (P<0.05) and increased amounts of PCV2 in lymphoid tissues (P<0.05) compared to both vaccinated groups. In summary, PCV2 vaccination was effective at inducing a neutralizing antibody response and significantly reducing PCV2-associated lesions and PCV2 viremia in pigs coinfected with PCV2 and PRRSV. Differences between intradermal and intramuscular routes of vaccine administration were not observed.  相似文献

This study investigated the efficacy of a one-dose porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) subunit vaccine based on the PCV2 Cap protein expressed in a baculovirus system on two different farms at which a history of porcine circovirus-associated disease (PCVD) was present. Morbidity, mortality, average daily weight gain, carcass weight, PCV2 load in serum and vaccine immunogenicity were assessed. Serology to porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae was performed. A double-blind, randomised, and controlled field trial was performed distributing 818 piglets between two treatment groups. At inclusion (weaning at 21 ± 3 days of age), 408 animals (group B) received a 2-mL intramuscular dose of Porcilis PCV(?) (vaccinated group). Controls (group A, 410 pigs) received 2 mL of the adjuvant Diluvac Forte(?) intramuscularly. Weights were recorded at inclusion and at 12 and 26 weeks of age, and the average daily weight gain (ADWG) was calculated. The carcass weights of the pigs from farm 2 were recorded at slaughter (274 days old). All dead animals (died or culled) underwent autopsy to classify them as PMWS-affected or not. At each farm, blood samples were taken from 22 pigs/group for serologic studies. A beneficial effect was found after vaccination with a single dose of a PCV2 Cap vaccine against PCVD. The vaccination reduced the mortality rate and morbidity, reduced PCV2 viremia and viral load, improved productive performances (e.g. ADWG: +70 g/day between 12 and 26 weeks of age when viremia and the specific disease occurred) as well as carcass weight at slaughter age (+4.5 kg). These effects were associated with virologic and clinical protection from the immunogenicity of the vaccine measured as activation of both a humoral and a cellular immune response.  相似文献

Little information is known about infection, replication and transmission of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) in species other than swine. Two sets of animal experiments were carried out to investigate the susceptibility of mice to PCV2 and to study their possible role in maintaining and transmitting the virus. In the first experiment 14 mice were inoculated with PCV2 by the intraperitoneal route with 5 x 10(2) TCID50 of the PCV2-ROM strain (Cadar et al., 2007). In a second experiment 24 mice were divided into two groups (A and B); mice in Group A (n = 18) were inoculated orally with 1 x 10(5) TCID50 PCV2-ROM and mice in Group B (n = 6) were left uninoculated until day 12 post inoculation (p.i.), when they were mixed with Group A. The animals were sacrificed at intervals for postmortem investigation and virus genome detection by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The PCR results indicated that PCV2 could replicate in mice infected intraperitoneally or by the oral route, and that the virus can be transmitted directly from mouse to mouse.  相似文献
