2000～2001年,中国热带农业科学院牧草中心在海南儋州开展了种草集约化养羊技术研究示范推广,该项目通过建植高产优质牧草人工草地和开展人工草地放牧试验和舍饲养羊试验研究,把种植牧草新品种和养羊新技术紧密结合,立足于山羊集约化生产发展目标,在山羊饲养方式上取得了重大突破,初步实现了热区山羊业生产的专业化、社会化和商品化,为发展种草集约化现代养羊开辟了广阔的道路。

1泰顺县养羊条件与现状 泰顺县气候温和,农作物秸秆和天然牧草资源丰富,具有发展养羊的优势。泰顺山多,林下草场多,但密度小总量少,不具备大规模放牧饲养山羊的条件。但以中小群放牧为主、补饲为辅的方式,则显示出巨大的优越性：(1)投资小。1户养2～3头多则10头,仅需搭建一个小棚舍,就地取材,因陋就简。有条件的农户在养羊规模较大时亦可搭建高架羊舍。

微贮玉米秸秆育肥山羊的效果观察

遵义县松林镇饲养山羊主要采用放牧饲养,越冬饲草短缺,育肥期较长,制约着山羊生产发展。为解决这一问题,充分利用农作物秸秆资源发展养羊,我们采用玉米秸秆微贮饲料饲养山羊,适口性好,消化率高,取得了较好的成效,为山羊育肥越冬饲料不足开辟了饲料来源和途径。

永嘉县规模养羊存在的问题及对策

我县地处浙南山区,一年四季气候温和,无霜期长,草山面积广,牧草种类多,饲草资源丰富,具有发展养羊生产优越的自然条件。山羊生产由于投资少、成本低、周转快,历来是我县山区农民脱贫致富的重要经营项目。近几年,规模养羊业得到较好的发展。到1999年年末,全县存栏山羊25 800只,年内出栏15 200只。但我们通过对7个乡镇16户规模养羊户的调查,发现我县的山羊规模饲养存在许多问题。     

竹山养羊的综合技术

竹山养羊是近年来随着农村林竹业发展而兴起的、主要利用竹林牧草资源放牧养羊的饲养模式.发展竹山养羊,一可充分利用野生牧草资源,节省饲养成本;二是饲养的肉羊肉质细嫩,味道鲜美,营养价值高;三是林牧结合,羊粪自然排入竹林地,能提供优质有机肥料,保证竹笋丰产丰收.因此,推广竹山养羊是山区农民脱贫致富的好门路.     

Give a dog a genome

In 2004 the dog became only the fifth mammal to have its entire genome fully sequenced. The canine genome was sequenced in the hope that it would help scientists understand the complex evolutionary mechanisms that shape genes and genomes and provide a powerful tool for identifying genetic factors that contribute to human health and disease. It is expected that over the coming years the genome of man's best friend will help in the understanding of the genetic cause of many inherited diseases that humans and dogs have in common. Not only of obvious benefit to humans, these studies will enable the development of DNA diagnostic tests that breeders can use to identify which of their dogs carry mutations that put them at risk of developing particular conditions and thus, over time, eliminate those diseases from the breed.     

Leiomyoma of a kidney in a dog: a rare diagnosis

A five-year-old, neutered male, Bernese Mountain Dog was referred because of a two-week history of hematuria and a one-week history of polydipsia and polyuria. Palpation of the dorsomedial mesogastrium revealed a mass on the left side, which was seen via radiography and ultrasonography to be attached to the left kidney. The left kidney and the attached mass were excised surgically, and the dog had an uneventful recovery. Histological examination of the mass revealed a dense proliferation of non-polymorphic spindle cells, which stained positive for smooth muscle actin via immunohistochemistry. Leiomyoma of the kidney was diagnosed. Postoperatively, there was mild azotaemia, which did not affect the general condition of the dog and was still present 15 months after surgery. Leiomyoma of the kidney is a benign tumor, and hematuria may be the only clinical sign.

It should be emphasized that the primary function of the computer is information-handling and communication. It remembers who and when and why, organizes the information, and then communicates by reminders, letters, labels, word processing, and statements. The computer becomes a faithful employee, not altogether immune from physical illness but generally ready to work at the flip of a switch. Best of all, the computer never asks for overtime or a percentage of the profits.
