1. Supplementing the drinking water of 50-week-old laying hens with sodium chloride (NaCl) concentrations between 0.5 and 2 g/l for 7 weeks significantly increased the incidence of egg shell defects and significantly decreased egg shell quality. Dietary NaCl concentrations between 0 and 2 g/kg had little effect on this response. 2. At similar total NaCl intakes egg shell defects were much greater when the NaCl was obtained from the drinking water rather than from the diet. 3. Hens producing eggs with defective shells as a result of receiving saline drinking water failed to recover the ability to lay eggs with good shells after 8 weeks on normal water. 4. The increased incidence of shell damage was not related to decreased food intake or increased egg weight or production.  相似文献

1. From 36 to 43 weeks of age 210 White Leghorn laying hens were used to study the relationship of plasma calcium and phosphorus concentrations to egg‐shell quality when saline drinking water was given.

2. Seven experimental treatments in which different amounts of sodium chloride were supplied by the food and/or the drinking water were compared.

3. Increasing salt intake through the drinking water or the food reduced shell thickness and shell calcium, and increased the numbers of damaged eggs. Sodium chloride given in the drinking water was more effective in reducing shell quality and increasing plasma calcium and phosphorus than sodium chloride given in the food.  相似文献

1. The effect of replacing dietary cholecalciferol (D3) by 1 alpha,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol (1,25-(OH)2D3) on egg shell quality and egg production was tested on 32-week-old White Leghorn laying hens over 9 weeks. 2. Hens fed on a diet supplemented with 5 micrograms 1,25-(OH)2D3/kg diet, tended to lay more eggs, and the eggs had significantly higher specific gravity and percentage shell than eggs from control hens fed on a diet supplemented with 27.5 micrograms D3/kg diet. 3. The effect became apparent after about 4 weeks of treatment and persisted until the end of the test. 4. Hens fed on a diet without D3 supplement started to lay very thin or soft shelled eggs within 4 weeks, suggesting that the birds' reserves of D3 or its metabolites were depleted within this period. 5. The results suggest that 1,25-(OH)2D3 can be substituted for D3 in layer diets to improve egg shell quality.  相似文献

The present study was conducted to investigate effects of L-carnitine supplied with drinking water on performance and egg quality of laying hens under high environmental temperature. In the study, 47-week-old laying hens (Brown hisex) were divided into two groups (control and treatment) and fed with a standard layer diet. Treatment group was received 50 p.p.m L-carnitine with drinking water for an 8-week period. Throughout the study, 8 h hot (35-37 degrees C) and 16 h thermoneutral (20-22 degrees C) environmental temperature regime was employed daily. The results showed that L-carnitine supplementation affected some egg quality characteristics of layers under high environmental temperature. Relative albumen weight and height were increased (p < 0.05) by supplemental L-carnitine. Live weight gain, feed intake, egg mass, egg weight, yolk weight, shell weight, yolk index, egg-shape index, yolk colour score and shell thickness were not affected (p < 0.05) by L-carnitine. It is concluded that L-carnitine supplementation in laying hens could have potential to improve albumen quality under high environmental temperature.  相似文献

本试验旨在研究饮水中添加小球藻液对产蛋鸡生产性能和蛋品质的影响。试验采用单因素完全随机设计,将720只23周龄海兰褐蛋鸡随机分为2组,每组6个重复,每个重复60只鸡。对照组常规自由饮水,试验组的饮水中每天加入30 mL/只小球藻液,2组均饲喂基础日粮。在相同饲养环境下,观察23~25、30~34周龄产蛋率并在33周龄收集新鲜鸡蛋测定蛋品质及营养成分。预试期7 d,正试期70 d。结果表明:饮水中添加小球藻液对蛋鸡生产性能无显著影响,能显著提高蛋黄粗蛋白质含量,但感官评价的蛋黄颜色得分极显著低于对照组。  相似文献

试验用60周龄的豫州褐913蛋鸡300只,随机分为3组,对照组(1)饮自来水,处理组(2,3)分别饮用含0.26%,0.34%的氯化钾(KCl)水,在高温环境中试验4周,对热应激蛋鸡的某些生理指标和生产性能进行了研究。结果表明:KCl可降低热应激蛋鸡的冠温、呼吸率和体温,尤其对呼吸率影响显著;同时KCl能提高热应激蛋鸡的产蛋率,2组显著高于1组;KCl对蛋重和饲料利用率影响不显著,但有使其升高的趋势。  相似文献

1. Uterovaginal junction (UVJ) tissues were collected 24 h after artificial insemination (AI) from 85- and 125-week-old broiler breeder hens in three physiological states: laying hard shell eggs (HS), laying shell-less eggs (SL) and non-laying (NL). This was confirmed by egg production records and visual appraisal of the oviduct at the time of necropsy. 2. Three longitudinal sections of each UVJ were evaluated microscopically and sperm host glands (SHG) were scored in 5 categories: glandular morphology evident but not lumen present, basophilic stained epithelium and no spermatoza present, glands that contained one to five spermatozoa; glands that contained 6 to 20 spermatozoa and glands that contained more than 20 spermatozoa. 3. Laying hens (HS and SL) at 85 weeks of age had significantly more sperm host glands (SHG) containing spermatozoa than NL hens. At 125 weeks of age HS and SL hens had significantly more unscorable glands. 4. The only category that showed no difference between age and physiological status group was the empty category. No significant differences were observed for any gland category in 82- and 125-week-old NL hens. 5. A greater proportion of the 85-week-old group of HS and SL hens had more SHG containing spermatozoa and fewer unscorable glands that the 125-week-old birds. 试验旨在比较洪江雪峰乌骨鸡和罗曼粉蛋鸡的鸡蛋营养成分和蛋品质,为洪江雪峰乌骨鸡蛋用新品系选育提供依据。随机选取40周龄的洪江雪峰乌骨鸡(绿壳)、洪江雪峰乌骨鸡(粉壳)和罗曼粉壳蛋鸡各100只,每品种鸡随机分为5个重复,每个重复20只,在相同饲粮和饲养管理方式下进行饲养,45周龄收集鸡蛋检测营养成分和蛋品质指标。结果表明:洪江雪峰乌骨鸡绿壳蛋的蛋黄比例极显著高于罗曼粉壳蛋(P<0.01),蛋重、蛋壳厚度、哈氏单位极显著低于罗曼粉壳蛋(P<0.01),洪江雪峰乌骨鸡粉壳蛋的蛋重和蛋壳厚度极显著低于罗曼粉壳蛋(P<0.01);洪江雪峰乌骨鸡蛋中的多不饱和脂肪酸和硒元素含量均极显著高于罗曼粉壳蛋(P<0.01),洪江雪峰乌骨鸡绿壳蛋胶原蛋白含量极显著高于罗曼粉壳蛋(P<0.01)。综上所述,洪江雪峰乌骨鸡鸡蛋蛋黄比例高,蛋黄多不饱和脂肪酸、胶原蛋白、硒和锰含量高,适合作为优质禽蛋开发。  相似文献

An 8-week trial was conducted between March and May (hot-dry season) to determine effects of water temperature, feather clipping and aspirin on egg production of chickens. The treatments tested were hens given ordinary drinking water (control), cool water (100 g ice block per L) and aspirin (0.3 mg per L of ordinary water) and hens whose feathers were clipped (about two thirds of body feathers clipped). At 32 weeks of age, 120 Lohmann brown layer chickens of similar live weights were randomly divided into 12 groups of ten hens each and assigned to the treatments in triplicate using a completely randomized design. Feed and water were given ad libitum. Data included feed intake, water consumption, hen-day egg production and egg weight. Ambient house temperature, hen’s cloacal temperature and water temperature were monitored daily during the experimental period. Mean daily ambient temperature increased from 28.4 to 35.0 °C during the study period with consequent increase in cloacal temperatures (40.31 to 41.18 °C) of hens, ordinary drinking water and cool water. None of the treatments had any significant (P?>?0.05) effects on feed intake and water consumption of the birds. Hens given cool water produced more (P?P?P?>?0.05). It is concluded that the provision of cool water in a hot-dry climate had a beneficial effect on egg laying performance of chickens.  相似文献

旨在研究强制换羽对蛋鸡生产性能和蛋品质的影响。选取80周龄海兰褐蛋鸡4 500只,分为A、B、C组,每组1 500只,于试验组Ⅰ区饲养;选取60周龄海兰褐蛋鸡3 000只,分为D、E组,每组1 500只,于试验组Ⅱ区饲养;另选取60周龄海兰褐蛋鸡1 500只(F组),于对照组Ⅲ区饲养。试验组Ⅰ区和试验组Ⅱ区位于同一栋鸡舍,对照组Ⅲ区位于另外一栋鸡舍。采取饲料、饮水、光照控制的方式对A~E组鸡群进行强制换羽处理;F组不进行强制换羽处理。试验包括7 d的预试期和56 d的正试期。在正试期内,测定各组鸡群的产蛋率、蛋品质指标、死亡率。结果表明:与换羽前相比,强制换羽后A、B、C组的平均产蛋率的提高幅度为27.1%,强制换羽后D、E组的平均产蛋率的提高幅度为16.1%,换羽后F组的平均产蛋率的降低幅度为5.5%;5个接受强制换羽处理的试验组(A~E组)与对照组(F组)相比,蛋重增加2.5%,蛋壳强度提高11.8%,蛋白高度提高8.8%,蛋形指数提高3.3%,蛋壳尖端的厚度提高14.8%;5个接受强制换羽处理的试验组(A~E组)的平均死亡率为2.5%,对照组(F组)的死亡率为1.5%。综上所述,强制换羽技术的应用可以明显提高海兰褐蛋鸡的产蛋率,并提升蛋品质。  相似文献

Feeding lindane, in capsule form, to laying hens at a rate equivalent to 100 mg/kg food for 1 or 2 weeks had little effect on egg production. Longer periods of feeding resulted in a 20 to 30% decrease in the rate of egg production. When treatment was stopped after 4 weeks, the birds recovered and egg production returned to its original rate within a month. The production of flocks treated for 6 weeks or longer became permanently depressed since some birds went out of lay and failed to resume production when the treatment was terminated. Egg shell thickness, egg and yolk weight and hatchability were not significantly affected by the treatment.  相似文献

(1) Tolerance to ad libitum feeding was compared in three genotypes of broiler breeder hens: a standard broiler breeder fed ad libitum (SA) or restricted (SR), a slow growing 'label' broiler breeder (L) and an experimental dwarf heavy broiler breeder (E). Two similar experiments were conducted in two distinct research centres. (2) Feed intake and body weight were measured every 3 weeks from hatch to 40 to 49 weeks of age. Egg production and egg abnormalities were recorded. The number of yellow follicles in ovaries was counted at the age of 32 weeks. (3) Body weight was stabilised at 2.2, 3.7 and 5.4 kg after 24 weeks of age in L, E and SA hens, respectively. Growth of the SR hens was similar to that of L up to 20 weeks and stabilised at a similar level to that of E hens after 30 weeks of age. (4) Sexual maturity was delayed by 6 weeks in restricted breeders compared to ad libitum fed hens that started to lay at 20 weeks. SA hens had low egg production and a high proportion of defective eggs, which was largely compensated for by feed restriction. However, productivity of SR hens remained lower than that of L breeders. (5) Compared to the low viability and reproductive fitness observed with SA hens, the E dwarf broiler breeder tolerated ad libitum feeding and had better egg production, fewer egg abnormalities and yellow follicles per ovary and a higher egg production. However, laying rate was still lower than that of the SR and L groups. Energy conversion (kJ/g egg) from 32 to 40 weeks of age was much higher in the SA group than in the other three groups. 6. The feasibility of feeding a dwarf broiler breeder ad libitum calls for further research on implications of specific IGF and GH-receptor expression at the level of the ovary in dw chickens.  相似文献

Brachyspira intermedia strain HB60 was used to experimentally infect 40 individually caged 22-week-old laying hens. Another 10 control birds were sham-inoculated with sterile broth. All chickens received an experimental layer diet based on wheat. The infected birds were randomly divided into four groups of 10, with the diet for each group containing either 50 ppm zinc bacitracin (ZnB), 100 ppm ZnB, 256 ppm of dietary enzyme (Avizyme), 1302), or no additive. Birds were kept for 6 weeks after infection, and faecal excretion of B. intermedia, faecal water content, egg numbers, egg weights and body weights were recorded weekly. Control birds remained uninfected throughout the experiment. B. intermedia was isolated significantly less frequently from the groups of experimentally infected birds receiving ZnB at 50 ppm or enzyme than from those receiving 100 ppm ZnB or no treatment. Infected birds had a transient increase in faecal water content in the week following challenge, but no other significant production differences were detected amongst the five groups of birds in subsequent weeks. It was not established how the ZnB at 50 ppm and the dietary enzyme reduced the ability of the spirochaete to colonise, but it may have been by bringing about changes in the intestinal microflora and/or the intestinal microenvironment.  相似文献

1. Egg production, body weight, feed intake and mortality were recorded in over 78?000 broiler breeder hens in 4 commercial flocks housed in 16 houses from early lay though 40 weeks of lay. A total of 420 hens were sampled at regular intervals throughout the laying period to determine the changes in body weight and the numbers of yellow follicles, paired follicles and hierarchical positions with time in the ovary throughout lay to relate ovarian function to productivity. Average egg weight was recorded weekly from one flock.

2. A quadratic equation fitted the changes in time for the number of yellow follicles, body weight, feed intake and mortality; a linear equation described the decline in the number positions in the hierarchy and there was a linear decline in the logistic scale of the proportions of yellow follicles developing as pairs of similar weight. Egg production was described by a cubic equation and egg weight by a line plus exponential model.

3. The average number of yellow follicles declined from 7·2 to 5·4 and the number of hierarchical positions from 6 to 5 from 4 to 40 weeks after photostimulation. The proportion of follicles developing as pairs of similar weight was over 25% at the onset of lay and declined to less than 10% from 20 weeks after photostimulation, representing a substantial loss of potential productivity.

4. Body weight and egg production were similar to the breeder's targets whereas average egg weight and mortality were higher than expected.

5. The relationship defining ovarian function will facilitate the development of an improved model of egg production in broiler breeder hens.  相似文献

Four groups of pullets were given, from 17 weeks of age, a high‐Mn diet, or one of three low‐Mn diets. Hens given low‐Mn diets laid eggs with poor shells, judged by appearance, strength and thickness at the start of lay, but only one low‐Mn diet (diet 4), was associated with poor shells throughout 12 months of egg production. Supplementary Mn (100 mg/kg) added to low‐Mn diets after 12 months had no significant effect during the next 2 months on shell appearance score, strength or thickness.

In a second experiment, four groups of pullets aged 16 weeks were given diets of low or high Mn content and high or moderate P content. At the start of the laying period there was a significant interaction between Mn and P, a high level of P increasing shell defects caused by low Mn. At a later stage, 4 months after the start of egg laying, high P significantly reduced shell strength and thickness but had no effect on appearance score: low Mn had only a small non‐significant effect on any shell characteristic at this stage.

In a third experiment pullets of five White Leghorn type hybrids aged 16 weeks were given diets of low or high Mn and high or low Ca until the point of lay, when all birds received the high‐Ca diet but continued receiving the level of Mn given from 16 weeks of age. Only shells produced at the start of lay were studied. Type of hybrid influenced the number of soft shells produced but had no significant effect on other characteristics. Manganese significantly influenced all shell measurements and a high level of Ca increased the number of soft shells, decreased strength and thickness but had no effect on appearance score. The effect of dosage and application mode of l ‐carnitine on plasma lipid and egg‐yolk cholesterol of breeder turkeys, hatchability of eggs and post‐hatch growth response was investigated using 180 breeder hens. The hens were assigned to six dietary treatments in a 2 × 3 factorial arrangements of two application modes of l ‐carnitine (diet and drinking water) supplemented at 0, 50 and 100 ppm (mg/kg or mg/l) levels, respectively. Each treatment was replicated five times with six hens per replicate. Dietary inclusion of 50 ppm l ‐carnitine showed the lowest (p < 0.01) plasma total cholesterol (TC) and low‐density lipoprotein concentration (LDL). Breeder hens offered 50 ppm l ‐carnitine with no regard to application mode recorded the highest (p < 0.01) plasma high‐density lipoprotein (HDL). Hens offered 50 and 100 ppm l ‐carnitine irrespective of application mode also showed reduced (p < 0.01) egg‐yolk TC concentration at 32 weeks of age. Dietary supplementation of 50 ppm l ‐carnitine for breeder turkeys recorded the lowest (p < 0.01) egg‐yolk triglyceride (TG) at 40 weeks of age. Hens offered 50 ppm l ‐carnitine irrespective of application mode recorded the highest (p < 0.05) hen‐day egg production. Incidence of dead‐in‐shell also reduced (p < 0.05) with increasing dosage of l ‐carnitine. Dietary supplementation of 50 ppm and oral application in drinking water of 100 ppm l ‐carnitine for breeder turkeys resulted in highest (p < 0.05) egg fertility. Offsprings from breeder hens fed diets supplemented with l ‐carnitine recorded no post‐hatch mortality. Highest (p < 0.05) post‐hatch final live weight and weight gain was obtained with poults obtained from hens fed diet supplemented with 50 ppm l ‐carnitine. In conclusion, dietary supplementation of 50 ppm l ‐carnitine for turkey hens showed improved serum lipid profile, egg fertility, reduced dead‐in‐shell, egg‐yolk cholesterol and resulted in improved post‐hatch growth performance.  相似文献

White Leghorn hens were fed either a conventional diet containing 40 gCa/kg from oyster shell, or one low in Ca (3 g/kg) with oyster shell offered separately. In experiment 1 access to oyster shell was unrestricted; in experiment 2. Access was time-restricted to the first 6 h of the photophase of the 14L:10D photoperiod. Irrespective of time-restriction, hens offered oyster shell laid heavier eggs, but shell thickness was reduced. On days on which only ovulation occurred, time-restricted hens consumed significantly less Ca than unrestricted hens. In contrast, on days on which only oviposition occurred, time-restricted hens consumed significantly more Ca than unrestricted hens. These results suggest that when access to oyster shell is time-restricted to morning hours Ca consumption occurs in response to a Ca deficit persisting from the previous period of shell calcification.  相似文献

本试验旨在研究饲粮添加氯化胆碱对19~42周龄蛋鸡生产性能和蛋品质的影响。选取990只18周龄京红1号蛋鸡,随机分为6组,每组12个重复,每个重复15只鸡,分别饲喂在基础饲粮中添加0、1000、2000、4000、8000和16000 mg/kg氯化胆碱的试验饲粮。试验期24周。结果显示:1)19~42周龄,2000、4000、8000和16000 mg/kg组产蛋率显著低于0 mg/kg组( P<0.05);8000和16000 mg/kg 组产蛋率显著低于1000 mg/kg 组( P<0.05)。16000 mg/kg组蛋重和采食量显著低于0 mg/kg 组(P<0.05),各组料蛋比无显著差异(P>0.05)。2)2000 mg/kg组20、22周龄的蛋壳厚度显著高于0 mg/kg组(P<0.05),16000 mg/kg组22、38周龄蛋壳强度显著低于0 mg/kg组( P<0.05)。16000 mg/kg组26周龄蛋白高度和哈夫单位显著低于0 mg/kg组(P<0.05),8000 mg/kg组22周龄哈夫单位显著高于0 mg/kg组( P<0.05)。20、21、22和38周龄,1000、2000、4000、8000和16000 mg/kg组蛋黄颜色显著高于0 mg/kg组(P<0.05)。3)1000、2000、4000、8000和16000 mg/kg组24周龄全蛋磷脂酰胆碱含量显著高于0 mg/kg组( P<0.05),16000 mg/kg组27、38周龄全蛋磷脂酰胆碱含量显著高于0 mg/kg组( P<0.05)。16000 mg/kg组38周龄蛋黄磷脂酰胆碱含量显著高于0 mg/kg组( P<0.05)。由此可见,饲粮添加适量氯化胆碱能提高蛋壳厚度、蛋壳强度、蛋黄颜色,适宜添加量为1000 mg/kg。而饲粮添加高于1000 mg/kg 氯化胆碱能降低产蛋率;添加高于4000 mg/kg氯化胆碱能降低蛋重和采食量。  相似文献

The virulence of 4 low passage strains of Mycoplasma gallisepticum obtained from different sources within Australia was studied by experimental infection of chickens. Strain Ap3AS, originally isolated from the air sac of a broiler chicken, produced severe air sac lesions following injection into the abdominal air sacs of 2-week or 3-week-old chickens, and adult hens. Strain 80083 which was isolated from a clinically normal broiler breeder hen was also capable of producing gross air sac lesions following intra-abdominal (IA) injection, although it did so less consistently than strain Ap3AS. Strain 82078 isolated from a layer hen and strain QXO which was isolated from a turkey were also moderately pathogenic in terms of the incidence and severity of lesions elicited following IA injection. Strains Ap3AS and 80083 both caused a substantial loss of egg production over a 5 week period after IA infection of 27-week-old hens. Neither strain Ap3AS nor 80083 caused gross lesions or loss of egg production when administered alone into the upper respiratory tract. However, when inoculated into the conjunctival sac in combination with the Vic S strain of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) strains Ap3AS and 80083 produced identical clinical signs of conjunctivitis. The mean numbers of M. gallisepticum in tracheal washings were significantly higher 2 weeks after infection in the group receiving strain 80083 in combination with IBV than in the group infected with strain Ap3AS and IBV (p less than 0.01).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

试验用北京红鸡商品代分两阶段25 ~38 周龄和49 ~57 周龄研究玉米- 豆粕型基础日粮含锰20mg/kg 的情况下,以一水硫酸锰形式添加锰20mg/kg 、40mg/kg、60mg/kg 和蛋氨酸锰20mg/kg 对蛋鸡生产性能及蛋壳、蛋黄锰存留的影响。结果表明:不同锰源及添加水平对蛋鸡生产性能、蛋壳品质、蛋形指数在各组间无显著差异(P> 0 .05) ,蛋壳锰含量呈负增长,有机锰组蛋壳锰含量低于无机锰组。蛋黄锰含量却呈现正增长,以蛋氨酸锰组最高,显著高于添加20mg/kg 锰组和不添加组。由此说明锰在蛋壳和蛋黄中存留呈现相反的结果。  相似文献
