疯牛病不仅给全球畜牧经济造成重大损失,而且还严重危害着人类的健康,而造成疯牛病传播的主要原因则是由于携带有致病因子的牛羊肉骨粉饲料及牛羊制品在各国之间的贸易往来。因而加强对进口饲料产品中牛羊源成分的检测是防止疯牛病流行的重要措施。本文就疯牛病的流行病学、病原学、病理变化与诊断以及牛羊源成分检测方法的研究进展作以简述。  相似文献

A definitively diagnosed case of left ventricular noncompaction (LVNC) has not been previously reported in a non‐human species. We describe a Maine Coon cross cat with echocardiographically and pathologically documented LVNC. The cat was from a research colony and was heterozygous for the cardiac myosin binding protein C mutation associated with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) in Maine Coon cats (A31P). The cat had had echocardiographic examinations performed every 6 months until 6 years of age at which time the cat died of an unrelated cause. Echocardiographic findings consistent with LVNC (moth‐eaten appearance to the inner wall of the mid‐ to apical region of the left ventricle (LV) in cross section and trabeculations of the inner LV wall that communicated with the LV chamber) first were identified at 2 years of age. At necropsy, pathologic findings of LVNC were verified and included the presence of noncompacted myocardium that consisted of endothelial‐lined trabeculations and sinusoids that constituted more than half of the inner part of the LV wall. The right ventricular (RV) wall also was affected. Histopathology identified myofiber disarray, which is characteristic of HCM, although heart weight was normal and LV wall thickness was not increased.  相似文献

Coagulation Abnormalities in 22 Cats with Naturally Occurring Liver Disease   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1  
Twenty-two cats with liver disease were evaluated for coagulation abnormalities including alterations in prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, thrombin time, factor VII activity, and platelet count. The purpose of the study was to determine the prevalence of coagulation abnormalities in this population of cats, classify abnormalities according to underlying pathogenesis, and determine if serum biochemical parameters typically used as indicatiors of liver disease showed any correlation with the coagulation abnormalities present. Study results indicated that at least 1 coagulation abnormality was present in 82% of the cats. Prolongation of prothrombin time was most common (16/22 cats) and factor VII activity was below reference range (<60%) in 15 cats. When classified according to underlying pathogenesis, vitamin K deficiency was the most common abnormality found (11/22). Other abnormalities were less common and included hepatic synthetic failure (3/22), indeterminate (3/22), and disseminated intravascular coagulation (1/22). Increase in alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity was the only biochemical abnormality that showed statistically significant correlation with coagulation abnormalities ( P = .023). Cats with marked increases in ALP activity were more likely to have coagulation abnormalities than those with only mild increases in ALP activity.  相似文献

Background

Minocycline has been used in the treatment of Ehrlichia canis infection in dogs as an alternative to doxycycline, the recommended treatment. However, efficacy of this alternative therapy is unknown.

Objective

To assess the efficacy of minocycline in the treatment of natural occurring E. canis infection in dogs.

Animals

Ten privately owned dogs of mixed breed positive for E. canis by blood PCR.

Methods

Prospective, randomized clinical study. Dogs positive for E. canis by PCR were housed in a kennel environment and randomly allocated to receive doxycycline 10 mg/kg bodyweight PO once daily (“gold standard” control group) or minocycline (extralabel) 10 mg/kg bodyweight PO twice daily (treatment test group) for 28 days. Blood, analyzed by PCR to determine the presence or absence of E. canisDNA, was collected weekly during treatment starting on the first day of treatment and including through day 35, 7 days after the last treatment.

Results

In both groups, one dog tested negative after 7 days of treatment. For the doxycycline group, the latest time to a negative PCR test was after 3 weeks of treatment. For the minocycline group, the latest time was on day 28 of treatment. All dogs tested negative 7 days after the end of treatment.

Conclusion and Clinical Importance

Minocycline can be an effective alternative to doxycycline for clearing E. canis from the blood in nonacute infections.  相似文献

Since scrapie and bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in sheep are clinicopathologically indistinguishable, BSE in sheep may have been misdiagnosed as scrapie. Disease-specific prion protein (PrP(d)) patterns in archival tissues of 38 Irish ARQ/ARQ sheep diagnosed as scrapie-affected were compared to those in four Dutch BSE-challenged sheep. When medulla oblongata was immunolabelled with an antibody directed against amino acids 93-99 of ovine prion protein (ovPrP), intraneuronal PrP(d) was apparent in all 38 Irish sheep but was absent in BSE-challenged sheep. When lymphoid follicles were immunolabelled with antibodies directed against amino acids 93-106 of ovPrP, granule clusters of PrP(d) were seen in 34 of the 38 Irish sheep. Follicles of the remaining four archive sheep contained either no PrP(d) or single PrP(d) granules, similar to follicles from BSE-challenged sheep. Based on the medulla results, none of the archival cases had BSE-derived disease. The identification of some scrapie sheep with little or no intrafollicular PrP(d) suggests that this technique may be limited in discriminating between the two diseases.  相似文献

7头来自新疆南部某绵羊慢病毒(OvLV)感染的羊场的绵羊用于本研究。用琼脂凝胶免疫扩散检查绵羊血清中对绵羊进行性肺炎(OPP)病毒(OPPV)的抗体,结果表明有6例呈阳性,1例阴性,抗体效价在3年中呈下降趋势。4例血清学阳性边菜羊和1例阴性和田羊有不同程度的硬化性(纤维性)淋巴细胞性乳腺炎,小叶内有不等的淋巴细胞浸润,导管周围无淋巴滤泡形成,小叶间大量纤维组织增生。7例的肺、脑、关节、血管均无OvLV性特异性病变。从血清学阳性羊的外周血白细胞中未分离到OvLV。  相似文献

Background

Quantitative contrast‐enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) can detect pancreatic perfusion changes in experimentally induced canine pancreatitis. However, its usefulness in detecting perfusion changes in naturally occurring pancreatitis is unclear.

Hypothesis/Objectives

To determine the feasibility of using CEUS to detect pancreatic and duodenal perfusion changes in naturally occurring canine pancreatitis.

Animals

Twenty‐three client‐owned dogs with pancreatitis, 12 healthy control dogs.

Methods

Dogs diagnosed with pancreatitis were prospectively included. CEUS of the pancreas and duodenum were performed. Time‐intensity curves were created from regions of interest in the pancreas and duodenum. Five perfusion parameters were obtained for statistical analyses: time to initial up‐slope, peak time (Tp), time to wash‐out (TTW), peak intensity (PI), and area under the curve (AUC).

Results

For the pancreas, Tp of the pancreatitis group was prolonged when compared to controls (62 ± 11 seconds versus 39 ± 13 seconds; < .001). TTW also was prolonged but not significantly (268 ± 69 seconds versus 228 ± 47 seconds; = .47). PI and AUC were increased when compared to controls (95 ± 15 versus 78 ± 13 MPV; = .009 and 14,900 ± 3,400 versus 11,000 ± 2,800 MPV*s; = .013, respectively). For the duodenum, PI and AUC were significantly increased in the pancreatitis group when compared to controls.

Conclusions and Clinical Importance

Contrast‐enhanced ultrasonography can detect pancreatic perfusion changes in naturally occurring canine pancreatitis characterized by delayed peak with prolonged hyperechoic enhancement of the pancreas on CEUS. Additionally, duodenal perfusion changes secondary to pancreatitis were observed.  相似文献

A genuine biophysical method, Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy has become a versatile research tool in biochemistry and biomedicine. Topical applications in microbiology and prion research are impressive illustrations of the vigorous evolution of the technique. FT-IR spectroscopy has established itself as a powerful method for the rapid differentiation and identification of microorganisms, thereby contributing to both clinical medicine and the prevention of bioterrorism. It has also led to considerable progress in various other fields of basic research, not least in prion sciences. In this field, FT-IR spectroscopy has been increasingly applied as a tool for elucidating structural features of the pathological prion protein, and also to study the molecular changes induced by prions in neuronal tissue and blood. This article sets out to give a review of current examples of the analytical potential of FT-IR spectroscopy in microbiology and prion research.  相似文献

There have been no reports of natural scrapie in Irish Blackface Mountain (BM) sheep which account for approximately 16% of the Irish national sheep flock. The aim of this study was to determine if Irish BM sheep had unusual clinical and/or pathological features of scrapie which would account for failure to diagnose the disease in this breed. BM (n=7), Texel (n=3) and Suffolk sheep (n=1) of scrapie-susceptible PrP genotypes (ARQ/ARQ and VRQ/ARQ) were orally challenged with scrapie-infected brain inoculum. The incubation period, clinical signs, pathology and distribution of disease specific prion protein (PrP(d)) in scrapie-affected BM sheep were similar to scrapie in the Texel and Suffolk sheep. It was concluded that there was no evidence to suggest that scrapie in BM sheep differs clinicopathologically from scrapie in other breeds of sheep.  相似文献

金黄地鼠是研究动物传染性海绵状脑病的理想模型动物之一,其脑组织内朊蛋白基因动态表达数据的测定对探讨该类疾病的发生、发展和分子致病机理具有重要意义。我们利用实时荧光定量RT-PCR技术,对不同年龄金黄地鼠大脑、小脑、丘脑和脑干PrP基因的表达进行了定量。结果发现,脑的四个检测部位都呈现高的表达量,但是同一年龄段不同组织每纳克总RNA中朊蛋白基因的表达量和每毫克组织中朊蛋白基因的表达量有显著的差别,不同组织在不同年龄出现表达高峰。本研究的结果对于探讨朊蛋白的基本功能和脑组织在传染性海绵状脑病病理发生中的作用,提供了基础数据。  相似文献

Background: Spironolactone, an aldosterone antagonist, has been demonstrated to decrease mortality in human patients when added to other cardiac therapies. Hypothesis: Spironolactone in addition to conventional therapy increases survival compared with conventional therapy in dogs with naturally occurring myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD). Animals: Between February 2003 and March 2005, 221 dogs were recruited in Europe. Nine dogs were excluded from analysis, leaving 212 dogs with moderate to severe mitral regurgitation (MR) caused by MMVD (International Small Animal Cardiac Health Council classification classes II [n = 190] and III [n = 21]). Methods: Double‐blinded, field study conducted with dogs randomized to receive either spironolactone (2 mg/kg once a day) or placebo in addition to conventional therapy (angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor, plus furosemide and digoxin if needed). Primary endpoint was a composite of cardiac‐related death, euthanasia, or severe worsening of MR. Results: Primary endpoint reached by 11/102 dogs (10.8%) in the spironolactone group (6 deaths, 5 worsening) versus 28/110 (25.5%) in control group (14 deaths, 8 euthanasia, 6 worsening). Risk of reaching the composite endpoint significantly decreased by 55% (hazard ratio [HR] = 0.45; 95% confidence limits [CL], 0.22–0.90; log rank test, P= .017). Risk of cardiac‐ related death or euthanasia significantly reduced by 69% (HR = 0.31; 95% CL, 0.13–0.76; P= .0071). Number of dogs not completing the study for cardiac and other miscellaneous reasons similar in spironolactone (67/102) and control groups (66/110). Conclusion and Clinical Importance: Spironolactone added to conventional cardiac therapy decreases the risk of reaching the primary endpoint (ie, cardiac‐related death, euthanasia, or severe worsening) in dogs with moderate to severe MR caused by MMVD.  相似文献

Objective: The objectives of this study were to test the value of adding serial measurements to the Survival Prediction Index (SPI 2), and to investigate whether time trajectories add predictive information beyond measurements at a single point in time.
Design: Prospective clinical trial.
Setting: Intensive care unit at a Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Animals: 63 critically ill dogs
Interventions: Physiologic data were collected within 24 hours of admission to the ICU (Day 1), and again on Day 3 of hospitalization.
Measurements: The first analysis applied the SPI 2 equation on Day 1 and again on Day3. Then a prediction model was re-estimated using Day 1 measurements, and the incremental predictive value of adding Day 1 to Day 3 change scores was evaluated. the third analysis tested the incremental predictive value of change scores in models containing only one prognostic variable. The final analysis compared the re-estimated Day 1 model to an analogously re-estimated Day 3 model.
Main Results: Using the SPI 2 equation, the AUC was 7.7% higher using Day 3 measurements than that obtained using Day 1 measurements (P = 0.515). Starting with the re-estimated Day 1 model (AUC = 0.925), forward stepwise addition of the difference score for each variable did not result in an improvement in the AUC. The AUC for the re-estimated Day 1 model was not statistially different from that of the re-estimated model using Day 3 measurements.
Conculusion: This study shows no benefit to repeated calculation of the SPI 2 later in hospitalization.  相似文献
