AIM: To confirm the ivermectin resistance status of a strain of Ostertagia circumcincta which was isolated from a sheep farm in the lower North Island of New Zealand and to assess the susceptibility of this strain to other macrocycliclactone anthelmintics. METHODS: Twenty-five lambs housed indoors were each infected with 12,000 L3 larvae of the above parasite strain. Approximately 3 weeks after infection the lambs were allocated to 1 of 4 treatment groups (3 groups of 6, and 1 group of 7 lambs), one of which remained untreated while the others were drenched orally with ivermectin, moxidectin or abamectin at 0.2 mg/kg liveweight. Faecal egg counts (FECs) before and after treatment, and post-mortem worm burdens 10 days after treatment were examined to assess efficacies of each anthelmintic. RESULTS: Treatment with ivermectin reduced the mean FEC by only 18% and the mean worm burden by only 42%, whereas moxidectin and abamectin reduced FECs by 92% and worm burdens by 95%. CONCLUSION: These results, together with a similar case described recently from the South Island , confirm the emergence of ivermectin resistance in nematode parasites of sheep in New Zealand. The superior efficacy of moxidectin and abamectin in this case indicates that, following the emergence of resistance to ivermectin, some short-term practical use may still be made of these other anthelmintics. However, their continued use will undoubtedly result in increased levels of resistance and eventual therapeutic failure of these products also. 相似文献

Resistance to therapeutic treatment with macrocyclic lactone anthelmintics in Ostertagia circumcincta 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Eighty-eight lambs were allocated to one of four groups which were then dosed with 10,000 infective-stage larvae (L3) of one of four populations of Ostertagia circumcincta; the first (S) was an isolate known to be anthelmintic-susceptible; the second (OR) was a multiple anthelmintic-resistant isolate which had been recovered from the field following therapeutic failure of both ivermectin and moxidectin and subsequently maintained in the laboratory without further anthelmintic selection. The third (R) was derived from OR but had been passaged for five generations in the laboratory with each generation being screened with all three broad-spectrum drench families; the fourth (R x S) was an F1 cross between the S and R isolates. On patency, each of the four infection groups was sub-divided into five treatment groups, one of which received no anthelmintic while the others were administered either oral ivermectin (IVM-oral), controlled-release capsules containing ivermectin (IVM-CRCs), oral moxidectin (MOX-oral) or injectable MOX (MOX-inj). Neither formulation of IVM reduced FEC in the R, R x S and OR infected lambs compared to their untreated controls, but significant reductions were observed in all cases following MOX-oral or MOX-inj treatment. Similarly, neither IVM formulation significantly reduced the numbers of R or R x S worms compared to their untreated controls, although the numbers of OR worms were reduced in both cases (P<0.05). Direct comparisons of efficacy across the isolates, however, indicated that neither formulation was any more effective against R x S or OR worms than against the more highly selected R worms. In contrast, both MOX formulations significantly reduced worm numbers of all the resistant isolates compared to their respective untreated controls; furthermore, worm burdens of R x S were reduced significantly more than burdens of R (P<0.05). Reductions in OR burdens, which were intermediate between the two, did not differ significantly from either. The results are consistent with published work on Haemonchus contortus, which suggests that macrocyclic lactone (ML) resistance is expressed as a dominant trait under treatment with IVM. However, these data differ from the H. contortus studies in suggesting that ML resistance in O. circumcincta may effectively be rendered incompletely dominant or recessive by treatment with MOX. 相似文献

AIM: To establish the efficacy of oral formulations of ivermectin and moxidectin against naturally acquired abomasal nematode infections on a North Island sheep farm. METHODS: Two controlled slaughter trials were undertaken. In the first, 30 sheep on pasture were randomly allocated on the basis of faecal egg count to 1 of 3 groups, comprising an untreated control group and 2 treatment groups. One treatment group was given a single oral dose of ivermectin and the other a single oral dose of moxidectin, both at the manufacturer's recommended dose rates of 0.2 mg/kg liveweight. Six days after treatment, all animals were slaughtered and their abomasa recovered for worm counting. The second trial, which involved 47 animals, was essentially the same as the first except that, as well as involving the slaughter of 30 sheep from all 3 groups, 6 days after treatment, it also included a further 8 untreated control animals and 9 moxidectin treated animals which were slaughtered 27 days after treatment. RESULTS: At 6 days after treatment, moxidectin was highly effective against all 3 of the abomasal nematodes present. While ivermectin was similarly effective against Trichostrongylus axei 6 days after treatment, it was not effective against either Ostertagia circumcinta or Haemonchus contortus, against which average efficacies of only 63.6% and 61.6%, respectively, were recorded. At 27 days after treatment, moxidectin, was also highly effective against T. axei (97.3% reduction) but not against either H. contortus (71.4% reduction) or O. circumcinta (61.0% reduction). CONCLUSIONS: These results provide the first record of macrocyclic lactone resistance in H. contortus in sheep or in any other host in New Zealand, and the first case where such resistance has been exhibited in more than one parasite species at a time. Although the therapeutic efficacy of moxidectin was high against these resistant H. contortus and O. circumcincta strains, resistance to moxidectin was indicated by its diminished prophylactic activity against them. It is suggested that this reduction in the prophylactic activity of moxidectin is also likely to reduce its apparent current high therapeutic efficacy. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: As well as providing further evidence that it can no longer be automatically assumed that macrocylic lactone anthelmintics will be effective on sheep farms in this country, these findings also present a warning that increasingly complex parasite control options may have to be faced in the future. 相似文献

AIM: To investigate the occurrence of resistance to macrocylic lactone (ML) anthelmintics by Ostertagia circumcincta in lambs on a sheep and cattle property in the North Island of New Zea- land. METHODS: Thirty lambs were randomly allocated to one of five equal-sized groups, consisting of an untreated control and four treatment groups. The treatments, which were administered at the manufacturer's recommended dose rates, included oral moxidectin, oral abamectin (both at 0.2 mg/kg), an albendazole-levamisole combination, and an albendazole-levamisole-ivermectin combination. Post mortem worm counts were undertaken 7 days after treatment to determine the efficacy of each anthelmintic. RESULTS: The albendazole-levamisole and albendazole-levam-isole-ivermectin combinations both reduced O. circumcincta burdens to zero whereas for moxidectin and abamectin efficacies of only 72% and 29%, respectively, were recorded. CONCLUSIONS: These results clearly demonstrated the occurrence of resistance to MLs by O. circumcincta. Although this is not the first occasion where resistance to this anthelmintic family has been detected in this parasite in sheep in New Zealand, it is the first instance that resistance to either moxidectin or abamectin has been reported. 相似文献

AIM: To estimate the prevalence of resistance to macrocyclic lactone (ML) anthelmintics over a 3-year period on sheep farms in the Taihape area, and to determine associations between the presence of ML resistance and farm management practices. METHODS: All farmers with >1,000 lambing ewes served by one veterinary practice in the Taihape area of the central North Island of New Zealand were invited to take part in the study (n=157); respondents were selected on their willingness to participate. Resistance to ML was measured during 2004-2006, using a standard faecal egg count reduction test (FECRT) and a half dose of oral ivermectin (IVM; 0.1 mg/kg; n=84). Additional FECRTs were conducted separately on some farms, using full doses of IVM (n=47), levamisole (LEV; n=49), a benzimidazole (BZ; n=76), and a BZ/LEV combination (n=42). Resistance was defined as <95% faecal nematode egg count reduction (FECR) 7-10 days post-treatment. Larval cultures were performed on pooled faecal samples from all pre- and post-treatment groups for which any positive faecal nematode egg counts (FEC) were recorded. To ascertain whether particular management or drenching strategies were associated with the presence of resistance, a questionnaire comprising 50 questions was developed, and each farmer interviewed individually. RESULTS: Of all farmers invited, 84/157 (54%) participated in this study. Based on undifferentiated FEC, ML resistance to the half-dose IVM was evident on 46/84 (55%) participating farms. The majority of these cases (71%) involved Ostertagia (Teladorsagia) circumcincta. Resistance was also evident to full doses of IVM on 22/47 (47%), BZ on 41/76 (54%), LEV on 18/49 (37%), and BZ/LEV on 2/42 (5%) farms. Positive associations (p<0.05) were evident between the presence of ML resistance and management practices, such as: weaning over half of the lambs onto paddocks not grazed by lambing ewes since June; not always returning lambs to the same paddock after drenching; and the use of visual signs to assess 'worminess'. Measuring drench efficacy in January to March rather than later in the year, and presence of resistance to BZ or LEV were associated with a higher apparent prevalence of ML resistance (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Anthelmintic resistance, and particularly ML resistance, was widespread on sheep farms in the Taihape area, and mostly involved O. circumcincta. The prevalence of resistance was lower on farms on which management practices, particularly those involving lambs, maintained refugia of unselected nematodes. Further investigation is required to develop control strategies which minimise selection for resistant worms, and how these may vary with climate. 相似文献

Sixty-four Romney ewe lambs were allocated to 12 groups on the basis of liveweight. Four groups (n=5) were administered oral ivermectin (IVM), 4 (n=6) oral moxidectin (MOX) and the remaining 4 (n=5) controlled-release capsules containing IVM (IVM-CRCs). Nine and 10 days later, the groups within each treatment type were challenged with infective-stage larvae (L3) of 1 of 4 different isolates of Teladorsagia circumcincta (two doses each of 5000 L3). The first of these (S) was known to be anthelmintic-susceptible; the second (OR) was a multiple anthelmintic-resistant strain recovered from the field following therapeutic failure of both ivermectin and moxidectin and subsequently maintained in the laboratory without further anthelmintic selection; the third (R) was derived from OR but had been passaged for five generations indoors with each generation being screened with all three broad-spectrum anthelmintic classes; and the fourth (RxS) was an F1 cross between the R and S isolates. As anticipated, because of its limited residual activity, IVM had no significant effect on the establishment, 9 and 10 days post-treatment, of any of the parasite isolates. In contrast MOX, which has greater residual activity, was highly effective at preventing the establishment of the S isolate but showed no significant effect against the OR, R or RxS isolates. The IVM-CRC was also highly effective at preventing the establishment of the S isolate and furthermore it significantly reduced establishment of both the OR and RxS isolates, although it had no significant effect against the R isolate. The results suggest that with respect to the establishment of T. circumcincta L3s following anthelmintic treatment, macrocyclic lactone (ML) resistance is effectively a dominant trait in the presence of MOX, while it behaves as a partially dominant/recessive trait under treatment with IVM-CRCs. The potential implications of this finding in relation to selection for ML resistance in T. circumcincta are discussed. 相似文献

AIM: To investigate the occurrence of emerging macrocyclic lactone (ML) resistance and of resistance to benzimidazole anthelmintics on a number of sheep farms in the North Island of New Zealand. METHODS: On commercial sheep farms (n=30) in the Taihape district in the North Island of New Zealand, 30 animals were randomly allocated to one of two equal-sized groups and treated with either half of the recommended dose rate of ivermectin (half of 0.2 mg/kg), or with the full recommended dose rate of oxfendazole (4.5 mg/kg). The ivermectin treatment only was used on a further six properties. Faecal egg counts, accompanied by pooled larval cultures, were conducted on all samples at the time of treatment and 7–10 days later. RESULTS: Resistance, as indicated by a <95% faecal egg count reduction (FECR) in both instances, was found to oxfendazole on 13/30 (43%) farms and to a half dose of ivermectin on 12/36 (33%) properties. For oxfendazole, such resistance was found to involve all six nematode genera whereas for ivermectin it was almost entirely restricted to Ostertagia and Cooperia infections. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that emerging ML resistance may be more common on sheep farms in New Zealand than is generally realised. They also suggest that the half-dose ivermectin faecal egg count reduction test (FECRT) may offer some very practical benefits for parasite control by providing early warning of developing resistance to ML drenches and by signalling the possible imminent failure of these at their therapeutic dose rates. The sensitivity and reliability of this procedure may be further enhanced by the inclusion of larval cultures. 相似文献

AIM: To determine associations between resistance of Ostertagia (= Teladorsagia) spp to macrocyclic lactone (ML) anthelmintics and history of use of anthelmintics, by type, on commercial sheep farms in temperate regions of southern South Australia and Victoria, Australia. METHODS: Faecal egg count reduction tests (FECRTs) were conducted during a 2.5-year period (from August 2001 to January 2004) and records of the type of anthelmintic used in the 5 years preceding the FECRTs were collected from commercial sheep farms (n=103) in southern South Australia and Victoria, and data analysed retrospectively. ML resistance was defined as <95% reduction of Ostertagia spp 10–14 days after treatment with ivermectin (IVM), orally, at half the manufacturer's recommended dose rate. Use of anthelmintics in the preceding 5 and 10 years on each property was classified according to the nett number of years each of the following classes of drug had been used: IVM oral liquid (IVO), IVM controlled-release capsules (CRCs), abamectin (ABA), moxidectin (MOX) or a non-ML an- thelmintic. The prevalence of ML resistance, by property, was analysed for associations with prior use of anthelmintics. RESULTS: Resistance by Ostertagia spp to ML anthelmintics was evident on 51/103 (49.5%) properties. The prevalence of resistance was lowest (23%) on properties on which MOX had not been used, and was significantly higher (64–77%) on properties on which MOX had been used for ≥2 of the preceding 5 years (p<0.001). In contrast, the prevalence of resistance was highest (70–74%) on the properties on which IVM, or IVM and/ or ABA, had not been used in the previous 5 years (on which the use of MOX was predominant), and was markedly lower (20– 42%) on properties that had used IVM or IVM and/or ABA for at least one of the preceding 5 years. Prevalence of resistance was higher for properties on which the only ML anthelmintic used was MOX (19/29=66%) than for those on which the only ML used was IVO (2/19=11%; p<0.001). Properties on which the only ML used was MOX were 2.72 times more likely to have resistance than properties on which the only ML used was IVO (95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.01–5.08). CONCLUSION: Use of MOX for ≥2 of the preceding 5 years was associated with a higher prevalence of resistance to ML by Ostertagia spp on sheep farms in south eastern Australia than the use of IVO. 相似文献

AIM: To measure the efficacy of two macrocyclic lactone-levamisole-benzimidazole combination drenches against naturally-acquired abomasal nematode infections on a sheep farm in the North Island, New Zealand. METHODS: Eighteen lambs carrying naturally-acquired worm burdens were removed from pasture and randomly allocated to one of three equal-sized groups, consisting of an untreated control group and two treatment groups. One treatment group was given a single oral dose of a triple-combination anthelmintic administered at the manufacturer's recommended dose rate of 0.2 mg/kg ivermectin, 7.5 mg/kg levamisole and 5.0 mg/kg albendazole. The other treatment group received a similar dose of another triple-combination drench consisting of 0.2 mg/kg abamectin, 8.0 mg/kg levamisole and 4.5 mg/kg oxfendazole. Worm counts were carried out post mortem on the abomasa of all animals in all groups, 10 days after treatment. RESULTS: While the abamectin-levamisole-oxfendazole combination was highly effective against all three abomasal nematode species present, the ivermectin-levamisole-albendazole combination was not. In the latter instance, a reduction of only 78% was achieved against infections of Ostertagia (=Teladorsagia) circumcincta. CONCLUSIONS: These results provide evidence of resistance to an ivermectin-levamisole-albendazole combination drench by O. circumcincta. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Besides representing the first confirmed report of resistance to a combination drench consisting of three broad-spectrum anthelmintics, the present results provide further evidence of the continuing escalation of multiple anthelmintic resistance in sheep nematodes in New Zealand. 相似文献

On-farm risk factors associated with ivermectin resistance on sheep farms in Western Australia were identified from data derived from a postal survey of 235 farmers who had conducted a fecal egg-count-reduction test in 1999, 2000, or both years. A response of 54% was achieved. We developed a logistic-regression model. Contributory main effects in the final model were selling 10% more sheep in 2000 than is the usual policy (OR=4.00), farm purchased since 1975 (OR=2.34), and number of winter flock anthelmintic treatments in the previous 5 years (OR=1.04). A secondary logistic-regression model assessed risk factors for farms selling 10% more sheep than usual in 2000; these farmers appeared less committed to their sheep enterprises than other farmers. These results are discussed in relation to current hypotheses of anthelmintic resistance. This is the first time that the farmer’s management of the flock has been implicated in the development of anthelmintic resistance. 相似文献

AIM: To identify farm practices associated with the presence of resistance to a macrocyclic lactone (ML) anthelmintic on sheep farms in New Zealand. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted to test for associations between the presence of resistance to an ML anthelmintic (ivermectin) and management practices on sheep farms in New Zealand. Selection of farms was both random (n=80) and purposive (n=32; being farms with a history of suspected ML resistance). Resistance was inferred from faecal nematode egg count (FEC) reduction (FECR) tests (FECRTs) when there was <95% reduction in FEC 7–10 days after treatment with a half dose of ivermectin (0.1 mg/kg). A logistic regression model was built to identify farm-level factors that were associated with the presence or absence of ML resistance. RESULTS: Of the 112 flock managers that were approached for interview, 103 (92%) returned useable questionnaires. The odds of ML resistance were increased: on farms that had used long-acting ML products in ewes as a pre-lambing treatment for ≥3 of the previous 5 years (odds ratio (OR) = 7.2; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.7–30.3); on farms where <70% of the total stock units mid-winter were from sheep (OR=6.5; 95% CI=1.6–25.6); on farms which over the year purchased ≥10% of the number of sheep present mid-winter (OR=7.1; 95% CI=1.5–34.7); and on farms where the average wool diameter of the main flock was <37 (OR=4.1; 95% CI=1.1–14.7) microns. The model provided a good fit to the data (pseudo R2=0.64; Hosmer-Lemeshow statistic = 0.38). CONCLUSIONS: Explanatory factors identified as associated with the presence of ML (ivermectin) resistance on farms included the use of long-acting anthelmintic formulations in ewes pre-lambing, sources of refugia of unselected parasites on the farm, breed of sheep and their requirements for anthelmintic treatments, and the importing of resistant parasites with purchased stock. The study provides support for controls that aim to provide refugia of susceptible worms and that minimise the risk of introduction of resistance through effective quarantine-drenching. 相似文献

The acid secretory capacity of the abomasal mucosa was studied in sheep experimentally infected with Ostertagia leptospicularis. The acidity of the abomasal contents, permanently recorded by a pH probe located inside the abomasum, decreased markedly to mean levels between pH 5 and 6. Subcutaneous administration of histamine or carbachol successfully stimulated acid secretion (pH 3.4). The results indicate that the abomasal mucosa harboured a population of functional parietal cells which were also identified immunohistochemically (H(+)/K(+)-ATPase). Ultrastructural investigation before stimulation revealed that the majority of these cells was in a resting state. Despite high serum gastrin levels, the acid secretion was blocked either at the level of the parietal cell or the enterochromaffin-like cell by an unknown factor, possibly mediated by the parasites. This is the first report of a parietal cell dysfunction associated with a nematode infection in the abomasum. It is suggested that the parasites induce changes in their environment which favour their survival and/or increase their reproduction. 相似文献

AIM: To examine the effects in vitro of bovine milk and milk products and soymilk on the motility of sheathed and ex- sheathed L3 Ostertagia circumcincta (also known as Teladorsagia circumcincta) as a measure of larval viability and infectivity. METHODS: L3 were exsheathed in 0.2% sodium hypochlorite, resuspended in Hank’s Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS) pH 7.4 and incubated with test solutions at 37°C for up to 48 h. The motility of 50 larvae from each incubate was assessed at selected times using a McMaster slide. Larvae were considered immotile only if straight and not moving. Fresh bovine milk, homogenised milk (3.3% fat), low-fat milk (0.2% fat) and lamb milk replacer were diluted with HBSS pH 7.4 to concentrations from 1.6–100%, and incubated with exsheathed L3 for 1, 24 or 48 h. Bovine whey protein was tested in concentrations of 5–15% at pH 2.5–6.5, casein at 5 or 7.5%, and skim milk powder from 5–15% at pH 5.5 or 6.5, all for 2, 4 or 24 h. Soymilk was tested in concentrations of 1.6–100% for 1, 2, 24 or 48 h. HBSS was used as the control solution. Sheathed L3 were incubated in HBSS pH 7.4, 50% homogenised milk in HBSS, or 50% soymilk in HBSS. Each solution was incubated for 1, 2, 24 or 48 h. RESULTS: The motility of exsheathed L3 was reduced by fresh bovine milk, homogenised milk, low-fat milk, lamb milk replacer, whey, casein and skim milk solutions, but not by soymilk. The mean percentage (and SE) immotile at 48 h were: fresh milk 38% (SE 20); homogenised milk 65% (SE 7); low-fat milk 57% (SE 5); lamb milk replacer 43% (SE 7); and soymilk 7% (SE 0.5). Larval immotility increased in whey protein solutions from 5–15%, from pH 2.5–6.5 and from 2 to 24 h (all p<0.001); in skim milk from 5–15% (p<0.001), and was greater at pH 6.5 than at pH 5.5 (p<0.001); in casein from 5–7.5% (p<0.001), but was no different at pH 5.5 and 6.5. The motility of sheathed L3 was reduced at 24 h (p=0.009) and 48 h (p<0.001) by 50% homogenised milk, but not by 50% soymilk or HBSS. CONCLUSIONS: Bovine milk proteins, or components associated with the proteins, reduced the motility of both sheathed and exsheathed L3 O. circumcincta. Soymilk had no effect on nematode motility. Lower larval motility may reduce worm establishment and be a contributing factor to the smaller burdens of gastrointestinal nematodes in milk-fed animals compared with animals after weaning. 相似文献

In April 2003, persistent scouring and ill-thrift that was reported in calves form an intensive beef rearing operation in central Argentina despite treatments with benzimidazole and ivermectin. In order to conduct a controlled faecal egg count reduction test on this herd, 40 calves 5-8-months-old were selected on the basis that they had a nematode eggs per gram (epg) of faeces count greater than 150. Animals were divided into four groups (1-4) of 10 calves. Calves of groups 1-3 were treated, respectively, with subcutaneous injection of ivermectin (200 mcg/kg), ricobendazole (4 mg/kg) and levamisole (7.5 mg/kg), while calves of group 4 remained as untreated controls. The egg count reductions carried out 10 days later were lower than 15% in calves treated with ivermectin and ricobendazole, but 100% in animals receiving levamisole. Pooled post-treatment faecal cultures showed larval percentages of 92 and 95 for Haemonchus and 8 and 5 for Cooperia in the faeces of calves treated with ivermectin and ricobendazole, respectively. This is the first reported case of Haemonchus parasiting cattle showing simultaneous resistance to avermectins and benzimidazole type anthelmintics. 相似文献

A population of Ostertagia circumcincta from sheep has been found which, in field and laboratory trials, showed a lack of response to the recommended dose (44 mg/kg) of thiabendazole, suggesting that a degree of resistance exists to this anthelmintic. Preliminary experiments indicated a less than expected response to levamisole. This was not confirmed in a laboratory trial and therefore resistance to this anthelmintic has not been shown conclusively. 相似文献

AIM: To investigate the occurrence of resistance to a full dose of oral ivermectin by Cooperia curticei in sheep. METHODS: Twelve lambs on a sheep and cattle property in the North Island of New Zealand were randomly allocated to one of two equal-sized groups. One group was treated orally with a single dose of ivermectin at the manufacturer's recommended dose rate of 0.2 mg/kg, while the other remained as an untreated control. Worm counts were carried out post mortem on the abomasa and small intestines of all animals in both groups 7 days after treatment. RESULTS: While treatment with ivermectin reduced the numbers of all other worm genera to almost zero, those of Ostertagia (= Telodorsagia) circumcincta and C. curticei were reduced by only 37% and 19%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: These results provide clear evidence of resistance to ivermectin by O. circumcincta and C. curticei. They also appear to represent the first record of macrocylic lactone (ML) resistance in C. curticei in sheep in New Zealand or elsewhere. 相似文献

AIM: To investigate the occurrence of resistance to macrocyclic lactone (ML) anthelmintics by Ostertagia circumcincta in lambs on a sheep and cattle property in the North Island of New Zealand. METHODS: Thirty lambs were randomly allocated to one of five equal-sized groups, consisting of an untreated control and four treatment groups. The treatments, which were administered at the manufacturer's recommended dose rates, included oral moxidectin, oral abamectin (both at 0.2 mg/kg), an albendazole-levamisole combination, and an albendazole-levamisole-ivermectin combination. Post mortem worm counts were undertaken 7 days after treatment to determine the efficacy of each anthelmintic. RESULTS: The albendazole-levamisole and albendazole-levamisole-ivermectin combinations both reduced O. circumcincta burdens to zero whereas for moxidectin and abamectin efficacies of only 72% and 29%, respectively, were recorded. CONCLUSIONS: These results clearly demonstrated the occurrence of resistance to MLs by O. circumcincta. Although this is not the first occasion where resistance to this anthelmintic family has been detected in this parasite in sheep in New Zealand, it is the first instance that resistance to either moxidectin or abamectin has been reported. 相似文献
