The copper content of the livers from 347 pigs was analysed. Two hundred and three of these samples were from animals varying in age from full term foetus to five years, which were submitted to the laboratory (laboratory cases) for a variety of diagnostic tests. The remaining 144 liver samples were obtained from pigs slaughtered at an abattoir (abattoir survey) at 75-85 kg liveweight (approximately 20-30 weeks old). Liver copper levels of 12 mg/kg D.M. (Dry Matter) or less, a level consistent with copper deficiency, were found in 6.9% of the laboratory cases and in 9.0% of the abattoir survey pigs. Liver levels less than 20 mg/kg suggesting insufficient dietary copper to produce a growth-promoting effect, were found in 21.6% of the former and 36.1% of the latter pigs. A significantly greater frequency of illthrift and anaemia was found in the laboratory cases in which liver copper levels were less than 20 mg/kg compared with animals with higher levels. Liver copper levels less than 20 mg/kg were also more common in pigs derived from dairy farms or fed garbage than in animals from pig farms or fed on meal. All of 26 samples of commercial pig meal analysed contained sufficient copper to satisfy the daily essential copper requirements of pigs (greater than 5-6 mg/kg) but 14 of these (53.8%) contained less than 125 mg/kg levels of copper and were unlikely to produce a growth-promoting effect.  相似文献

Copper and zinc are frequently added at high concentrations to pig diets as growth promoters. Livestock grazing pasture contaminated with pig slurry may, therefore, be at risk from excessive intake of these elements. High liver copper concentrations have been detected in cattle from the agricultural region of Galicia (NW Spain), especially where there is intensive pig farming. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether pig farming does affect accumulation of copper and zinc in cattle in Galicia. Hepatic copper and zinc concentrations in calves were elevated in areas with naturally high levels of these elements in the soil. The densities of young pigs (piglets and growing-finishing pigs), but not reproductive sows, also influenced copper accumulation in calves. Liver copper levels in calves were significantly and positively related to the density of young pigs in the region. In areas with the highest pig densities, more than 20% of the cattle analysed had hepatic copper concentrations that exceeded the potentially toxic concentration of 150 mg/kg fresh weight. There was no evidence that zinc accumulation in calves was affected by pig density.  相似文献

Six experiments involving 706 newly weaned 28- to 32-d-old pigs were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of copper (Cu) sulfate (to provide 250 mg/kg Cu), antibiotic-sulfa combinations [chlortetracycline, 110 mg/kg + penicillin, 55 mg/kg + sulfamethazine, 110 mg/kg; i.e., Aureo-Sulfa-Penicillin (ASP) or tylosin, 110 mg/kg + sulfamethazine, 110 mg/kg; i.e., Tylosin-Sulfa (TS)] and anhydrous citric or fumaric acid (.75 to 1.5% of the diet). The basal experimental diet was a 19% crude protein (CP)-fortified corn-soybean meal diet (1.08% lysine) containing 7% dried whey and 3% fish meal. Marked and consistent gain and gain/feed responses occurred from the Cu supplement, particularly during the first week postweaning. The antibiotic-sulfa combinations were less efficacious than Cu during the 1-wk postweaning stress period. During either the 1- or 3-wk growth periods, ASP and TS showed additivity with Cu in promoting rate and efficiency of weight gain. Liver Cu was increased by Cu addition to the diet, but neither ASP nor TS affected Cu deposition in the liver. In a factorial experiment involving 17% (1.01% lysine) or 20% CP (1.23% lysine) corn-soybean meal diets containing either no dried whey or an addition of 25% whey, Cu supplementation elicited marked improvements in rate and efficiency of weight gain, particularly in diets without added whey. 选用军牧1号断乳仔猪45头,随机分为3组,每组5个重复,每个重复3头,采用完全随机化设计进行生长试验,研究了不同来源(硫酸铜和蛋氨酸铜)和不同添加水平(5、125 mg/kg)的高铜日粮对猪胃底腺Ghrelin分泌的影响。结果表明:与对照组相比,日粮中添加125 mg/kg硫酸铜和125 mg/kg蛋氨酸铜组平均日增重、绝对增重、平均采食量均显著提高(P<0.05),而不同铜源间差异不显著(P>0.05);试验组胃底腺Ghrelin mRNA水平显著提高(P<0.05);血液胃泌素含量显著增加(P<0.01),并且Ghrelin mRNA水平与血液胃泌素含量呈显著正相关关系。提示高铜可促进生长猪胃底腺Ghrelin的分泌,胃泌素的分泌与胃底腺区Ghrelin的基因表达有关。  相似文献

Hepatitis E is a zoonotic disease and is highly prevalent in European swine livestock. There is a need to compare the infection dynamics of hepatitis E virus (HEV) between herds with the same production system and determine the percentage of animals that could arrive infected at slaughter age. Therefore, a longitudinal study was performed in six Spanish farrow-to-finish affected farms. Twenty piglets per farm were monitored from nursery to slaughter. RT-PCR and serology techniques were applied to analyze longitudinally collected sera and/or faecal samples. Liver and bile samples were also taken at the abattoir. Anti-HEV IgM were firstly detected at 7 weeks of age in 5 farms whereas at 13 weeks of age in 1 farm (farm 2). At slaughter age 50–100% of pigs had seroconverted to anti-HEV IgG in the former 5 farms whereas in the other herd only 5% of pigs were IgG seropositive (farm 2). Six out of 96 livers and 5 out of 80 biles analyzed were HEV positive at the abattoir (total percentage of infected animals: 11.5%). All these positive animals had already seroconverted except 2 pigs of farm 2. Hence, pigs can be seronegative at slaughter age being infected during the latest fattening period. Manipulation of HEV-infected livers or other organs from pigs could be considered a possible route of transmission in Spanish abattoirs. This study represents the first longitudinal survey on swine HEV infection dynamics conducted in different herds.  相似文献

Three experiments were conducted to determine the effect of receiving diets containing alfalfa meal and certain feed additives on performance of comingled feeder pigs transported 900 to 1,100 km. In Exp. 1, the inclusion of 9.4% dehydrated alfalfa meal in receiving diets for 2 wk resulted in no difference (P greater than .1) in gain or feed conversion from purchase to market compared with pigs fed a basal corn-soybean meal (CS) diet or a diet containing 20% ground whole oats (O). In Exp. 2, pigs fed receiving diets containing 10% dehydrated alfalfa meal had no improvement (P greater than .1) in gain (.60 vs .61 kg/d) or conversion (3.25 vs 3.17) compared with CS-fed pigs. In Exp. 3, pigs fed a receiving diet for 2 wk containing 10% mid-bloom alfalfa ate more (P less than .002) feed daily for 2 wk (.82 vs .76 kg) and overall (P less than .04; 1.92 vs 1.85 kg) and had an improved (P less than .03) daily gain from purchase to market (.61 vs .59 kg) compared with CS-fed pigs. Two trials involving 21 primiparous sows were conducted to evaluate the effects of fat and triamcinolone additions to the diet of late-term, gravid sows on carbohydrate, protein and fat reserves in nursed and fasted neonatal pigs. Beginning 7 d prepartum, sows were fed daily 1.8 kg (6 Mcal metabolizable energy, ME) of a fortified, corn-soybean meal diet that was supplemented with 4 Mcal ME/sow in the form of starch, soybean oil or soybean oil plus 70 mg/sow of triamcinolone, a synthetic glucocorticoid. After parturition, the sows were fed daily 5 kg (15 Mcal ME) of a 14% protein, corn-soybean meal diet. The addition of soybean oil to the diet of sows during late gestation did not influence (P greater than .1) liver glycogen content, serum glucose levels or carcass protein and fat reserves in nursed or fasted pigs from birth to 6, 12, 24 or 48 h of age. The addition of triamcinolone to the sows' prepartum diet increased (P less than .1) fat deposition in the nursed pigs from birth to 48 h of age. Liver glycogen reached minimal levels by 24 h postpartum in both nursed and fasted pigs, regardless of the sows' prepartum treatment. Serum glucose levels were maintained at 80 to 130 mg/dl in the nursed pigs from birth to 48 h of age, but approached hypoglycemic levels (50 mg/dl) by 24 h in the fasted pigs. Nursed pigs deposited 28 g of body protein and 15 g of fat from birth to 48 h of age; whereas, fasted pigs mobilized only minimal quantities (3 g) of body protein and fat.  相似文献

Four Midwestern packing plants (designated as plants A, B, C, and D) were visited on 53 occasions, and tissue samples were collected postmortem from a total of 2,019 pigs to determine the frequency of the HAL-1843 mutation of the ryanodine receptor gene in dead (DOA), nonambulatory-noninjured (NANI), and normal animals. The sampled pigs came from approximately 130,000 animals from 454 farms and were transported on 861 trailer loads, with an average of 152 pigs/load and an average pig live BW/load of 125 (SD 7.02) kg/pig. Frequency of animals with the HAL-1843 mutation was low, with only 2.7% of the pigs being either homozygous recessives (nn, 0.45%) or carriers (Nn, 2.3%) for the mutation and 97.3% of the pigs being homozygous for the normal allele (NN). The mutation was present in all 3 classes of pig, with 1.8% of normal, 1.8% of NANI, and 4.7% of DOA animals having at least 1 copy. Two of the plants (A and C) had a greater frequency (P < 0.05) of carrier (3.7 and 3.5 vs. 1.1 and 1.0 for plants A and C vs. B and D, respectively) and homozygous recessive (1.0 and 0.9 vs. 0.0 and 0.0, respectively) animals than the others (plants B and D). There was a greater frequency (P < 0.05) of carriers in DOA animals than in the normal or NANI pigs (3.7 vs. 1.7 and 1.5 for DOA vs. normal and NANI, respectively). The 55 pigs that had at least 1 copy of the mutation came from 53 farms; therefore, the mutation was relatively widespread, being present in approximately 11% of the farms sampled. Although the HAL-1843 mutation is still present in commercial pig populations in the United States, its low frequency in DOA and NANI pigs suggests that it is not a major cause of these transport losses.  相似文献

The movements of animals were analysed under the conceptual framework of graph theory in mathematics. The swine production related premises of Denmark were considered to constitute the nodes of a network and the links were the animal movements. In this framework, each farm will have a network of other premises to which it will be linked. A premise was a farm (breeding, rearing or slaughter pig), an abattoir or a trade market. The overall network was divided in premise specific subnets that linked the other premises from and to which animals were moved. This approach allowed us to visualise and analyse the three levels of organization related to animal movements that existed in the Danish swine production registers: the movement of animals between two premises, the premise specific networks, and the industry network. The analyses of animal movements were done using these three levels of organisation. The movements of swine were studied for the period September 30, 2002 to May 22, 2003. For daily movements of swine between two slaughter pig premises, the median number of pigs moved was 130 pigs with a maximum of 3306. For movements between a slaughter pig premise and an abattoir, the median number of pigs was 24. The largest percentage of movements was from farm to abattoir (82.5%); the median number of pigs per movement was 24 and the maximum number was 2018. For the whole period the median and maximum Euclidean distances observed in farm-to-farm movements were 22 km and 289 km respectively, while in the farm-to-abattoir movements, they were 36.2 km and 285 km. The network related to one specific premise showed that the median number of premises was mainly away from slaughter pig farms (3) or breeder farms (26) and mainly to an abattoir (1535). The assumption that animal movements can be randomly generated on the basis of farm density of the surrounding area of any farm is not correct since the patterns of animal movements have the topology of a scale-free network with a large degree of heterogeneity. This supported the opinion that the disease spread software assuming homogeneity in farm-to-farm relationship should only be used for large-scale interpretation and for epidemic preparedness. The network approach, based on graph theory, can be used efficiently to express more precisely, on a local scale (premise), the heterogeneity of animal movements. This approach, by providing network knowledge to the local veterinarian in charge of controlling disease spread, should also be evaluated as a potential tool to manage epidemics during the crisis. Geographic information systems could also be linked in the approach to produce knowledge about local transmission of disease.  相似文献

Three groups of six pigs each (live weight at the beginning of the experiment 20 kg) were given a cereal ration with 8% rape seed meal. Group I did not receive a J supplement and was fed ad libitum. The rations of groups II and III were supplemented with 1 mg J/kg feed. The feed intake of group II was limited to the amount consumed by group I (pair fed); group III received the feed ad libitum. The daily weight gains of the 3 groups were 327, 377 and 613 g, feed expenditure 3.79, 3.68 and 3.47 kg/kg gain. In an N balance experiment carried out with 3 animals each from groups I and II, 41.4% of the N taken in group I and 43.8% in group II were retained (p greater than 0.05). Liver, intestinal fat and leaf were heavier in group I (p less than 0.01), the protein content of the empty body, the bones and bristles significantly lower than in group II. Protein retention in group II was 14% higher than in group I. In case of iodine deficiency protein retention is lower, energy retention, however, is largely unchanged.  相似文献

There are very few current data on the prevalence of Toxoplasma (T.) gondii in German pig farms. Consequently a reliable risk assessment of human Toxoplasmosis caused by ingesting raw or improperly cooked pork and pork products is not available. The aim of this study was to show current data on T. gondii prevalence in German pig farms. In four pig farms with different management systems (three conventional, one organic) 100 animals each were selected and tested for T. gondii antibodies. The test was done four times during the period from birth to slaughtering. In one farm 20 mother sows were tested additionally. The slaughtered pigs from conventional farms showed seroprevalences between 0 and 15.2% (mean value 5.6%). At the organic system T. gondii antibodies were not detected. All slaughtered seropositive pigs (6 months old) were tested negatively at the age of 9 weeks, but shortly after birth high titres of T. gondii antibodies had been detected in the same animals. Comparing the results gained in different seasons significantly more pigs were found to be infected during the autumn/winter than in the spring/summer period. In order to assess the current risk of Toxoplasmosis more pig farms should be tested. From the point of view of consumer protection the detection of highly infected pig herds is necessary.  相似文献

使用硫酸铜作为铜源,在生长猪饲料中添加铜,对照组铜添加浓度为0mg/kg,试验各组铜添加浓度为100mg/kg、150mg/kg、200mg/kg、250mg/kg和300mg/kg。试验开始时采血,之后每隔20d采血一次。测定有关血液生化指标。试验结果如下:试验组平均血清尿素氮(SUN)在20、40、60和80d时,分别降低10.3%、12.0%、9.7%和5.6%;60d时200mg/kg和250mg/kg铜组降幅分别达8.7%(P<0.01)和8.4%(P<0.05)。总蛋白(TP)和白蛋白(ALB)试验组比对照组均有不同程度提高,TP在40、60和80d时分别提高5.4%、7.2%和3.2%;ALB在20、40、60和80d时分别提高14.6%、15.5%、16.9%和0.23%。甘油三脂(TG3)、胆固醇(CH)、采食量未见有显著性变化(P>0.05)。本试验结果表明:日粮铜水平对血液相关生化指标的影响随饲料铜浓度的差异呈现明显的阶段性差异,其差异的显著性与铜的促生长效应基本是一致的。  相似文献

In a feeding experiment with 48 growing pigs 16% high glucosinolate rapeseed meal (HGRSM) (136 mumol glucosinolates + aglucones/kg dry matter, DM) or low glucosinolate (LG) RSM (48 mumol glucosinolates + aglucones/kg DM) in the feed were compared with 14% soya-bean meal (SBM) in each case. It were established 24 pairs of animals, which received the same quantity of the isonitrogenous but not isocaloric diets with SBM and the both RSM (pair fed). Four of the 2.12 animal pairs were not given supplementary I, four received 0.25 mg supplementary I/kg feed. Further four animals which were fed on LGRSM or HGRSM were provided with 0.0625 or 1 mg supplementary I/kg feed. In case of high glucosinolate intake (HGRSM) the lacking I supplementation decreased feed intake and growth and led to remarkable I deficiency symptoms from the fifth week onwards. The 2/3 lower glucosinolate dosage of the LGRSM diet also decreased performance and provoked I deficiency, however significantly later. The investigated I dosages (greater than 0.0625 mg/kg feed) did not effect the performance. In the experiment the eight animals which received LGRSM with supplementary I consumed 13% more feed than animals fed on HGRSM (P less than 0.05). The additional weight gain was 20% (P less than 0.05). Comparing the live weight gain of the SBM and RSM fed animals (pair fed) there was a significant increase of 9% versus the HGRSM groups and 5% versus the LGRSM groups.  相似文献

选用平均体重29.6kg的三元杂(杜×大×长)生长猪144头,按随机区组设计分为6个处理。饲粮中分别添加0、100、200mg/kg硫酸铜、200mg/kg碱式氯化铜、100mg/kg小肽铜、100mg/kg复合氨基酸螯合铜(以铜含量计)。结果表明:100mg/kg小肽铜和100mg/kg复合氨基酸螯合铜均能有效提高生长猪日增重和日采食量,其促生长效果与200mg/kg硫酸铜无显著(P>0.05)差异,而粪中铜含量分别下降了36.8%和48.4%(P<0.05)。  相似文献

Four groups of three ram lambs were fed, in group pens, the following diets from 4 to 19 wk of age: 1) control (6 mg Cu/kg and 1 mg Mo/kg); 2) control plus 10 mg Cu/kg; 3) control plus 10 mg Mo/kg and 4) control plus 10 mg/kg of both Cu and Mo. Copper and Mo were added to the diet as copper sulfate and sodium molybdate. The main ingredients of the diets were alfalfa hay (20%), oats (20%) and corn (59%). At 19 wk, the animals were allocated randomly to individual metabolism cages and received a single oral dose of 75Se-selenomethionine. Liver Cu concentrations at slaughter (22 wk) were 77, 259, 68 and 316 mg/kg fresh weight for treatments 1 through 4. There was clinical evidence of Cu poisoning in lambs on treatment 2. Sheep given Cu supplements without additional Mo had reduced (P less than .05) levels of 75Se activity in muscle compared with control animals. This decrease in muscle 75Se in Cu-supplemented lambs was associated with a nonsignificant increase in 75Se content of other tissues and a nonsignificant increase in fecal excretion of 75Se. Apparent absorption and net retention of 75Se was 80% and 74%, respectively. Long-term ingestion of moderate levels of Cu influenced the metabolism of Se fed as selenomethionine, possibly through effects of chronic Cu toxicity on liver function.  相似文献

In a survey of 2500 market weight pigs in a Saskatchewan abattoir, 37% were infected with adult Ascaris suum and in 46% there were milkspot hepatic lesions. A total of 60% of the pigs examined had some evidence of A. suum infection. Most infected pigs contained less than 50 adult ascarids.

In a second abattoir survey of a further 2500 market weight pigs, 44% of the animals had milk-spot hepatic lesions. In approximately 12% of the affected pigs these lesions were very severe and a very similar proportion of pigs' livers were condemned or sent for use as animal feed.

The results of these surveys are discussed with particular reference to the significance of A. suum infection in growing pigs in Saskatchewan.

我国生猪养殖规模和水平参差不齐,本文以26家规模化猪场为研究对象,其中包括规模Ⅰ(2000头以下基础母猪)3家、规模Ⅱ(2000~3000头基础母猪)3家、规模Ⅲ(3000~4000头基础母猪)4家、规模Ⅳ(4000头以上基础母猪)16家,比较不同养殖规模工厂化养猪场的生产成本和生产效率。结果表明:不同规模的工业化猪场在生产成本与生产效率方面有显著差异。随着规模增加,生长育肥期饲料成本、兽药疫苗、固定资产折旧及人工费用降低,生长育肥阶段成本明显下降,出栏猪成本与规模呈现负相关。仔猪哺乳及仔猪保育阶段对管理水平要求较高,随着养殖规模增大,管理难度相应加大,需要强调实施精细管理,以维持平均每头基础母猪年提供断奶仔猪头数(PSY)以及平均每头基础母猪年提供出栏猪头数(MSY),达到最大限度的规模效益。  相似文献

选择1日龄健康AA肉仔鸡120只,随机分成4组。使用蛋氨酸铜作为铜源,饲喂玉米-豆粕型基础日粮,对照组饲料铜含量为11mg/kg,3个高铜试验组分别为:110mg/kg、220mg/kg和330mg/kg,试验至60日龄结束。于第12,36,60日龄在各组内随机采血,测定血清丙氨酸氨基转移酶(ALT)、天门冬氨酸氨基转移酶(AST)活性;测量60日龄各组肝脏和粪便的铜含量并观察肝脏组织病理变化。结果显示:①血清ALT和AST活性均在正常范围内,没有异常升高;②110mg/kg和220mg/kg组的肝脏组织中铜含量比对照组有所升高,但是差异不显著(P>0.05),而330mg/kg组则极显著高于其他3个试验组(P<0.01);110mg/kg,220mg/kg和330mg/kg组的粪便中铜含量均极显著高于对照组(P<0.01);③330mg/kg组的肝脏组织大部分细胞中度变性,其他各组病理变化不明显。试验结果表明,日粮中蛋氨酸铜浓度达到330mg/kg时,肝脏内的铜蓄积量会迅速增多且对肝脏造成较大的损伤,粪便中的铜含量随着日粮中铜含量的增加而迅速增多,可能对环境造成不利影响。  相似文献

Corn gluten feed (CGF) was evaluated as the primary energy and protein source for gestating sows. Eighty gravid multiparous Yorkshire x Landrace sows were assigned randomly to three treatment groups for the entire three-parity trial. The gestation treatment diets were 1) corn-soybean meal fed at 1.8 kg/d (control), 2) CGF plus soybean meal fed at 2.3 kg/d (CGF-low) and 3) CGF plus soybean meal fed at 2.6 kg/d (CGF-high). The CGF diets contained 92.2% and 93.7% CGF, respectively. Feeding levels of Diets 2 and 3 were based on the assumption that CGF had 80% and 70% of the net energy value of corn, respectively. All sows had ad libitum access to a conventional corn-soybean meal diet during lactation and were fed 3.2 kg/d during breeding. Intakes of gestation treatment diets were increased 25% during winter months. Based on litter size and weight, the performance of sows fed CGF did not differ from that of the sows fed the control diet. Mean number of pigs at birth and 21 d (weaning) for the three parities were: (control) 10.16, 7.65; (CGF-low) 11.30, 8.44; (CGF-high) 10.73, 8.13, respectively. Pigs from CGF-fed sows were smaller at birth (P less than .05), but subsequent pig weights did not differ. Mean pig birth and 21-d weights for the three parities were: (control) 1.44, 5.18; (CGF-low) 1.30, 4.84; (CGF-high) 1.31, 5.01 kg, respectively. 目的摸清重庆市荣昌县生猪的肠道寄生虫感染情况,从而为有效防控猪的肠道寄生虫感染提供依据。方法荣昌是我国著名地方猪“荣昌猪”的故乡,我国养猪大县之一,作者于2007年4月至2007年11月,在该县20个镇选择具有代表性的规模化猪场、散养户和屠宰场,对种公猪、母猪、仔猪及肥育猪肠道寄生虫感染情况和屠宰场宰杀的肥猪肠道寄生虫虫体感染情况进行了调查。共检查了832份集约化饲养猪的粪便、l133份农户散养猪的粪便,并检查了200头屠宰肥猪的肠道。结果13.1%的集约化饲养猪感染猪蛔虫,5.4%感染猪鞭虫.14.6%感染食道口线虫,14.8%感染球虫(包括艾关尔球虫及等孢球虫),3.6%感染结肠小袋纤毛虫。对散养猪.这些数值分别是6.7%,4.8%,23.2%,13.8%,及4.9%。4%的宰杀肥猪检出猪蛔虫,3.5%检出猪鞭虫,52.0%感染食道口线虫。混合感染很常见。结论本项调查表明,荣昌生猪的寄生虫感染较为严重,应引起有关方面的足够重视。应尽快开展猪肠道寄生虫感染的综合防控工作,以保障养猪业的健康快速发展。  相似文献
