Summary A chromosome interchange in soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) was studied agronomically and genetically, and comparisons of seed or abortion position within the pod were related to chromosome structure. Comparisons were among plants heterozygous for a chromosome interchange (N/T), plants homozygous for the interchange (T/T), and homozygous normal-chromosome plants (N/N). The latter two genotypes were male fertile and female fertile. Heterozygous interchange plants, which are about 50% pollen sterile and ovule sterile, are typical of a large number of plants that have equally frequent alternate and adjacent chromosome segregation. Yield, lodging, plant height, and seed oil and protein percentages among all three genotypes were similar even though significant differences existed for seed weight, seed number, and pod number per plant. Seed abortions were more frequent in the basal position of the pod than in either the middle or apical positions in N/N and T/T genotypes. Ovule abortions in N/T plants were equally frequent among all positions both in two- and three-ovule pods. Elevated temperatures associated with climate change result in crops being exposed to frequent spells of heat stress. Heat stress results in reduced yield in field pea (Pisum sativum L.); it is therefore important to identify cultivars with improved pod and seed retention under heat to mitigate this loss. Objectives were to investigate the effect of heat stress on phenology, yield and pod-based yield components. Sixteen pea cultivars were evaluated at normal and late (hot) seeding dates in the field in Arizona 2012 and in growth chambers with two temperature regimes (24/18°C and 35/18°C day/night temperature for 7 days) during reproductive development. We measured variation in the pattern of pod retention at four-node positions on plants, seed retention by ovule position (stylar, medial and basal) within pods and screened cultivars for pod retention, seed retention and yield. Heat stress reduced seed yield by accelerating the crop lifecycle and reducing pod number and seed size. Heat stress had the most damaging effect on younger reproductive growth (flowers and pods developed later), resulting in ovary abortion from developing flowers. Heat also accelerated seed abortion in all ovule positions within pods. Two high-yielding cultivars under control temperature, “Naparnyk” and “CDC Meadow”, maintained high yield in heat, and “MFR043” had the lowest yield. Cultivars “40-10” and “Naparnyk” retained the most ovules and seeds per pod, and “MFR043” aborted seeds when exposed to heat. In half of the cultivars, ovules at the basal peduncle end of pods were likely to abort while ovules at the medial and stylar end positions developed into seeds. For seven of the field cultivars, ovules at the medial pod position also produced mature seeds. Cultivars “40-10”, “Naparnyk” and “CDC Meadow” had greater pod and ovule retention or maintained high yield under heat stress, and were identified as heat-tolerant cultivars. Our results allow for a better understanding of pod-based yield components in field pea under heat stress and developing heat-tolerant cultivars.  相似文献

研究了瓜尔豆生长发育过程中叶片、种荚及籽粒中蔗糖合成酶(SS)和蔗糖磷酸合成酶(SPS)活性的变化、糖类物质的组成及其含量的动态变化,以揭示可溶性糖的合成对瓜尔豆胚乳中半乳甘露聚糖和淀粉积累的影响。结果表明,进入开花期(播种后45 d)后,叶片、种荚和籽粒中SS和SPS活性均呈降低趋势。籽粒中的SS和SPS活性呈正相关,且显著高于叶片和种荚中相应酶活性。叶片中葡萄糖(Glc)含量高于蔗糖(Suc)。种荚中可溶性糖含量与Suc含量均呈单峰曲线,在籽粒直径5 mm时达峰值,两者呈正相关。Suc是种荚中暂存含量最多的可溶性糖,但其含量与SS和SPS活性无显著相关性,它主要来自叶片。种荚中Suc含量与籽粒碳水化合物总量(可溶性糖+多糖)呈负相关,它是籽粒碳水化合物合成的重要物质来源,还与籽粒库的建成有关。随种子发育,籽粒可溶性糖含量呈逐步下降趋势。籽粒发育前期,叶片同化物以Suc的形式运输并大量积累在种荚中,当籽粒直径达5 mm后迅速由种荚卸载至籽粒。但卸载期籽粒Suc含量较低,且显著低于种荚,说明籽粒Suc迅速转化为其他可溶性糖,并进一步用于多糖合成。籽粒直径为4 mm至5 mm时是种荚由“源”到“库”转换的临界期,这时籽粒中淀粉积累较迅速,半乳甘露聚糖在籽粒直径达5 mm后进入迅速积累期。  相似文献

In a field trial conducted during 1992–93 and 1993–94, the effect of basal (B) nitrogen (N) (45 and 60 kg N ha−1) and foliar application (F) of water (W) or 10 kg N ha−1 and 400 or 600 ppm ethrel (E) (2-Chloro ethyl phosphonic acid) at 70 days after sowing was studied on leaf area index and dry mass at 90 days and pod number per plant, seeds per pod, 1000 seed weight, seed yield, oil content and oil vield at harvest of mustard ( Brassica juncea L. Czern & Coss.) cv. T-59. Recommended basal (B) application of 90 kg N ha (BN90) was used as control. On the basis of 2 year data it was found that basal application of 60 kg N and foliar spray of 10 kg N ha −1 and 600 ppm ethrel gave higher values for growth and yield characteristics and enhanced seed yield and oil yield by 12.5 and 14.8%, respectively over control BN90.  相似文献

Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is an important food in the northwest of Spain where it is consumed as either green pods or dry seeds after cooking. Quality properties play a major role in cultivar acceptance by processors and consumers. To determine if sufficient variation in important culinary and nutritional traits exists within common bean, fifty-nine populations (plus five commercial cultivars) were grown in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula in three different environments and evaluated for sixteen fresh pod and dry seed quality traits. Populations showed significant differences for pod curvature, length/width and width/thickness ratios of pod and seed, pod and seed texture, volume, hardness, seed coat percentage and water absorption of seed, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, toal sugars and starch content. Genotype × environment interaction was significant for fresh pod traits such as curvature, length/width and width/thickness ratios, and texture, and for dry seed traits such as length/width and width/thickness ratios, volume, hardness and water absorption. Estimates of heritabilities and constancies (genotypic/environmental variance) were higher than 0.5 and 1.0 respectively for pod curvature, length/width and width/thickness ratios of pod and seed, seed volume and seed water absorption. There were high correlations of pod texture with seed length/width and width-thickness ratios, seed coat percentage, seed water absorption, crude fat, total sugars, starch content and crude fiber. Pod texture could be used as an important parameter for evaluating both seed culinary and nutritional quality. In addition, 17 populations showed promise as parental material in a breeding program for pod and seed culinary quality and protein content. The culinary and nutritional quality potential of the accessions such as PHA-0171, PHA-0253 and PHA-0257 which are known as Alubias de riñón could be the base material in a breeding program to obtain accessions with a good seed quality.  相似文献

通过对24个菜用大豆品种花荚及籽粒形成的比较,认为不同熟期类型品种间发育规律存在差异。早熟品种较晚熟品种花、荚形成发育快,时间短,脱落也快。籽粒形成主要集中在三个时期:籽粒重在中后期,荚皮重在中前期,荚重在中期。中期的生殖生长是籽粒形成的基础,也是影响产量的关键。因此在江苏徐淮地区的生态条件下,鼓粒前的花荚期长短是选择菜用大豆品种生育指标的重要因素。菜用大豆鼓粒前的花荚期以20d左右为宜。  相似文献

以普通玉米、甜玉米和糯玉米为材料,研究了淀粉糊化特性、热力学特性和颗粒分布等在果穗不同部位(基部、中部和顶部)间的变异情况。结果表明,甜玉米淀粉的糊化特征值各项指标均为顶部籽粒较高;普通玉米淀粉的峰值黏度和崩解值亦为顶部籽粒较高,回复值在各部位间无显著差异。糯玉米淀粉崩解值为顶部籽粒最高,峰值黏度和回复值在各部位间相对稳定。甜玉米淀粉转变温度(起始温度、峰值温度和终值温度)均为基部籽粒较高,而普通玉米在各部位间差异较小,糯玉米以中部籽粒较高,热焓值在3个类型玉米各部位间变化不一。淀粉颗粒体积均呈双峰分布,>17 μm的体积比例以顶部籽粒最低,中部籽粒最高,<17 μm的体积比例以顶部籽粒最高,中部籽粒最低。碘结合力在糯玉米不同部位间差异较小,而甜玉米和普通玉米以顶部籽粒最低。相关分析表明,淀粉颗粒体积分布和碘结合力等指标与糊化和热力学特征值存在一定的相关关系,表明果穗不同部位淀粉糊化和热力学特性的差异主要由颗粒分布及淀粉链长分布变化所致。  相似文献

In a field trial conducted during 1993–1994, mustard ( Brassica juncea L. Czern & Coss.) cv. Varuna was sprayed with either deionised water or 10−5 M GA3 at 40 (vegetative stage), 60 (flowering stage) or 80 (pod fill stage) days after sowing (DAS) to select the suitable growth stage for spray for augmenting productivity of the crop. Shoot length per plant, leaf number per plant, leaf area per plant, dry weight per plant and leaf area index and accumulation of N, P and K were recorded at 100 DAS. Pods per plant, seeds per pod, 1000 seed weight, seed yield, biological yield, harvest index and seed yield merit were computed at harvest. Growth, NPK accumulation and yield were maximal when spraying was done at 40 DAS. However, spraying at 40 and 60 DAS gave at par values for most of the growth and yield parameters. It was also noted that there was a significant difference in spray treatment at different growth stages only when G A, was sprayed and not when water was sprayed.  相似文献

The present study aimed at studying the effect of boron on pollen characteristics, translocation of water soluble sugars and its importance as a specific nutrient for seed production in lucerne. Aquous solutions of borax (0, 2500, 5000, 7500, 10 000 and 20 000 ppm) were sprayed at flowering stage. After 20 days, the fresh flowers were collected from the plants of all the treatments separately. The pollen was dusted on glass slides containing Muntzing's mixture for staining. After 6 hours, the data on pollen size, stainability and germination were recorded in 10 randomly selected microscopic fields. The estimation of water soluble sugars and boron content in flowers was done by standard methods. Data on grains per pod, grains per inflorescence and 1000 seed weight were recorded at seed maturity. With increasing rates of applied B, pollen germination, water soluble sugars, boron content and number of seeds per pod and per inflorescence increased but pollen fertility decreased. The pollen size and 1000 seed weight was not affected by boron concentrations. The results indicate that boron plays a definite role in increasing the seed yields through stimulating the physiological processes during reproductive phase.  相似文献

大豆产量潜力受到基因型和环境条件的制约。一种基因型的密度、植株分布决定其对太阳辐射、水分和养分的利用,进而高产的形成。当群体生长所需外界要素之一不能满足时,植株间形成竞争。产量的区域间及年际间差异与这种株间竞争关系密切,最终表现为单位面积内一个或多个产量构成因子的差异,如株荚数、荚粒数、或单粒重(籽粒大小)。本研究探讨籽粒大小在调节不同密度、行距条件下产量差异及年际间产量差异的作用。多点试验表明,籽粒大小在不同节位上及不同籽粒数的荚间差异不大。然而在2粒或3粒荚内,荚基部粒比中部及顶部粒小10%,而且子叶细胞体积差异不大。在改变源库、增强光照或遮阴条件下,籽粒大小发生变化。籽粒大小与子叶细胞数相关。籽粒大小是可塑的,但即使底部节位荚较顶部节位提前15~20 d鼓粒,籽粒大小在所有节位间差异不大,所以籽粒大小与子叶细胞数的关系仍值得探讨。  相似文献

Two field experiments were conducted during] 994-95 to study the effect of spray of 10−5 M GA3 at 40 days after sowing on mustard ( Brassica juncea (L.) Czern & Coss.) cv. Varuna grown with basally applied 0, 40, 80 and 120 kg N ha−1 (Expt. 1) and 0,15, 30 and 45 kg P ha−1 (Expt. 2) on pod number per plant, seeds per pod, 1000 seed weight, seed yield, biological yield, harvest index and fatty acid composition of oil. No significant difference between water and GA3 spray was found when basally applied nitrogen was 0 or 40 kg N ha−1. N80 proved to be the best for yield characteristics. In another experiment on phosphorus, GA3 and 30 kg P ha−1 individually enhanced the yield, but interaction of GA3 and P remained non-significant. The fatty acid composition of oil in both experiments was significantly affected only by nitrogen and phosphorus treatments for oleic acid and erucic acid. It was found that return in the form of yield was more for every kg applied fertilizer under GA, spray treatment. The response was more for N fertilizer in comparison to P. GA3 at a low level of fertilization significantly increased the return from fertilization.  相似文献

The aim of this research was to study the effect of sulphur (S) fertilization on oil biosynthesis and its related variables at various stages of seed development, and to find possible explanations for increased oil content in the seeds of mustard (Brassica juncea L. Czern and Coss) due to S fertilization. Acetyl-CoA carboxylase activity and contents of oil, acetyl-CoA, soluble protein, total RNA, total sugar and sulphur were determined in the developing seeds of mustard grown in the field with sulphur (+S) and without sulphur (-S). The period between 10 to 30 days after flowering was observed as the active period of oil accumulation in the developing seeds of mustard. The accumulation of the oil was preceded by a marked rise in acetyl-CoA carboxylase activity and acetyl-CoA concentration, which declined rapidly when oil accumulation reached a plateau. Total sugar content decreased, while protein content increased during the active period of oil accumulation in the developing seeds (i.e. between 10–30 days after flowering). Sulphur fertilization significantly (P < 0.05) enhanced the oil accumulation in the developing seeds at all the growth stages. The increase in the oil content was 5–63% with S fertilization over the control treatment. Acetyl-CoA carboxylase activity and contents of acetyl-CoA, soluble protein, total RNA and sugar were significantly (P < 0.05) higher in the developing seeds of +S-treated plants compared to — S-treated plants. It is suggested that the increase in the oil content with sulphur fertilization may be associated with the increases in acetyl-CoA carboxylase activity through the enhancement of acetyl-CoA concentration. Further, the increased sugar content due to S fertilization provided enough carbon source and energy for oil biosynthesis.  相似文献

黑龙江省近20年来中熟大豆品种遗传改进的明显趋势是株高、有效节数、一二粒荚数、三四粒荚数、单株荚数、单株粒数、每荚粒数和单株粒重增加,底荚高度略有增加。分枝数、蛋白质含量呈现先增后减的趋势.脂肪含量呈现先减后增的趋势,百粒重变化不大。株高、有效节数、三四粒荚数、单株荚数、单株粒数、百粒重与单株粒重呈显著或极显著的正相关。各性状对单株粒重的贡献大小依次为单株粒数、单株荚数、三四粒荚数、株高、有效节数、百粒重。提高单株粒数、单株荚数、三四粒荚数.兼顾株高、有效节数、百粒重是该区大豆育种的主攻方向。  相似文献

运用半薄切片技术、荧光显微镜技术, 观察不同开裂程度的两个油菜品种中双9号和中双11果实发育过程中“果实开裂区”的结构特征、发生发育规律, 探讨两品种油菜果实不同开裂程度的结构差异。结果表明, 油菜果实在发育过程中, 逐渐分化出由胎座框木化细胞、离区细胞、果瓣边缘木化细胞、紧靠果实内果皮的木化层enb细胞共同组成的开裂区; 易开裂的中双9号果实发育进程总体上比不易开裂中双11的早, 前者在15DAF (开花后第15天)时就已经能分辨出离区, 且胎座框细胞、果瓣边缘细胞、enb层细胞的壁都已经木化加厚, 而后者在25DAF才表现出这些特征;中双9号的离区在25DAF完全形成, 而中双11的离区在30DAF完全形成;中双9号离区部分细胞间在30DAF开始出现分离, 而中双11离区部分细胞间在35DAF开始出现分离。另外, 中双9号开裂区胎座框木化细胞间出现较多的裂缝有利于果实的开裂。这些结构和发育特征对于深入研究果实开裂的分子调控和抗角果开裂品种的选育具有理论指导意义。  相似文献

脱水敏感的黄皮种子发育至生理成熟时淀粉积累达最大值,但其胚轴中淀粉含量远低于子叶且在种子成熟以后明显下降。花后65d子叶中可溶性糖含量最高而胚轴中可溶性糖随种子发育而一直上升。还原性葡萄糖和麦芽糖含量随种子发育而逐渐降低.非还原性果糖和蔗糖则逐渐增加。生理成熟期子叶中还含有较多的水苏糖和棉籽糖。外源ABA可提高成熟林子子叶中蔗糖的含量和未成熟种子的淀粉含量、但不能提高种子的耐脱水能力。因此我们认为黄皮种子的碳水化合物变化与其所在组织(子叶和胚轴)的不同代谢模式有关,而不是与种子的脱水敏感性有关。  相似文献

The effect of terminal drought on the dry matter production, seed yield and its components including pod production and pod abortion was investigated in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.). Two desi (with small, angular and dark brown seeds) and two kabuli (with large, rounded and light coloured seeds) chickpea cultivars differing in seed size were grown in a controlled-temperature greenhouse, and water stress was applied by withholding irrigation 1 (early podding water stress, ES), 2 (mid-podding water stress, MS) or 3 (late-podding water stress, LS) weeks after the commencement of pod set. In addition, the pod and seed growth of well-watered plants was followed for the first 19 days after pod set. Growth of the pod wall followed a sigmoid pattern and was faster in the desi than in the kabuli cultivars, while no difference was found in early seed growth among genotypes. Time of pod set affected the yield components in all treatments with the late-initiated pods being smaller, having fewer seeds per pod and smaller seeds, but no significant difference between pods initiated on the same day on the primary and secondary branches was observed. Early stress affected biomass and seed yield more severely than the later stresses, and in all stress treatments secondary branches were more affected than primary ones. Pod production was more affected by early stress than by late stress, regardless of cultivar. Pod abortion was more severe in the kabuli than in the desi cultivars, but final seed size per se did not appear to be a determinant of pod abortion under terminal drought conditions. The data indicated that the production and viability of pods was affected as soon as water deficits began to develop. The results show that pod abortion is one of the key traits impacting on seed yield in chickpeas exposed to terminal drought and that irrespective of differences in phenology, kabuli types have greater pod abortion than desi types when water deficits develop shortly after first pod set.  相似文献

为探讨有效积温对管花肉苁蓉花序不同部位种子质量的影响,测定了花序不同部位蒴果发育的有效积温,及其蒴果中种子的大小和萌发率。结果表明,花序不同部位蒴果有效积温有差异,中部蒴果有效积温比上部蒴果有效积温高约104℃;中部蒴果中种子直径≥0.7mm和0.5-0.7mm的种子所占百分比高于上部;而且中部蒴果中种子千粒重大、萌发率高。蒴果发育有效积温的不同是导致管花肉苁蓉花序基部和中部种子质量高于上部种子质量重要因素之一。  相似文献

Chilling stress (<10 °C) is detrimental for chickpea, especially at the reproductive phase and leads to abortion of flowers, pods and impaired seed filling, causing severe reduction in yield. The information on the effects of low temperature during different pod-filling stages on quality and quantity of developing seeds is lacking in chickpea and hence this study. In this study, chickpea plants growing under warm conditions of the glasshouse were subjected to cold conditions of the field at the two stages, (a) early pod-filling and (b) late pod-filling, and subsequently analysed for stress injury in terms of electrolyte leakage (EL), 2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride reduction, relative leaf water content and total chlorophyll content in the leaves of control and cold-stressed plants. Cold stress caused elevation of EL but reduced all the other parameters. Sucrose content decreased significantly in the leaves of cold-stressed plants. The differences between the effects of stress at two stages on the total plant dry weight were small and insignificant. The seed growth rate, seed fill duration, seed number, and average seed weight and size decreased greatly in the plants cold-stressed at the late pod-filling stage than those stressed at the early pod-filling stage. Greater reduction was observed in starch, proteins, soluble sugars, fat, crude fibre and storage protein fractions in the seeds of the plants cold-stressed at the late pod-filling stage. This coincided with a larger decrease in sucrose content, the activities of sucrose synthase, invertase and starch synthase observed at this stage. The germination and growth potential were, however, inhibited to a greater extent in seeds of plants stressed at the early pod-filling stage.  相似文献

Summary Within-plant variation was studied in seed samples of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.). Central and lateral capsules were sampled in three entries. Three capsule postions-basal (nodes 16 to 20), intermediate (nodes 21 to 25), and apical (nodes 26 to 30)-were sampled in four other entries. Nuclear magnetic resonance and gas liquid chromatography were used to characterize within-and among-plants variation in the same genotype for oil content and its fatty acid composition, respectively.Central capsules had heavier seeds, and their oil had more palmitic and oleic acids than had seeds from the two lateral capsules. However, central capsules had seeds with less oil content, and the oil had less stearic, linoleic, and arachidic acids than seeds from lateral capsules. Seed weight and arachidic acid were found to be constant in seeds from capsules located at different nodes along the plant. Oil content had a significant variation with capsule position along the plant in only one entry. Percentages of palmitic and linoleic acids were lower, and those of stearic, oleic, and linolenic acids were higher in seeds from the apical capsules. In almost all cases, capsules located in the intermediate and basal sections had a similar oil composition. However, there was a lack of consistency in the within-plant variation from plant to plant for the different traits studied. It was concluded that within-plant variation need be taken into account only if the experiment was set up to detect small differences between treatments. Among-plants variation was found to be influenced by plant genotype.  相似文献

抗裂角性是非常重要的油菜性状, 但相关研究报道较少。本研究对11个甘蓝型油菜骨干亲本品系及由其配制的30个不完全双列杂交组合在2个环境下的抗裂角指数及其他7个角果相关性状进行了遗传分析。结果表明, 抗裂角指数遗传变异显著, 遗传上受少数主效基因控制, 效应以加性为主, 显性效应和环境效应影响较小。大部分杂交组合的抗裂角指数杂种优势不显著。抗裂角指数与角果长、果皮重、千粒重和种子直径呈极显著正相关, 与结角密度和角粒数呈极显著负相关。抗裂角性相关性状中, 角果长、千粒重、结角密度和种子直径变异主要由加性方差解释;果皮重和每角粒数主要由显性方差解释。亲本评价分析指出, 作为波里马细胞质雄性不育系统保持系的ZS11B和恢复系的R11其抗裂角性的一般配合力高, 是培育抗裂角杂交油菜品种的首选直接亲本。  相似文献
