Multiwall carbon nanotube (CNT) spun yarns were subjected to γ-irradiation in an oxygen rich environment, followed by the application of epoxy to form CNT/epoxy composite yarns with a high CNT fraction. The method for fabrication of the CNT/polymer composite yarns was presented, and the effect of γ-irradiation on the mechanical performance of the pure CNT spun yarns and their epoxy composite yarns were studied. The γ-irradiated CNT yarns were also characterized by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The results of this study have demonstrated that the γ-irradiation is an effective micro-engineering tool to improve mechanical properties of the CNT spun yarn and its epoxy composite yarn.  相似文献

Peirce’s fabric model has been widely used to predict the structural behavior of various plain woven fabrics. The structure of plain woven fabric can be defined in terms of the warp yarn number, weft yarn number, warp fabric density, weft fabric density, warp crimp, and weft crimp. The warp and weft yarn diameters are calculated from the warp and weft yarn numbers, and the effective coefficient of the yarn diameter is defined by using this model. We have investigated structural properties, such as the effective coefficient of the yarn diameter, yarn crimp, and fabric thickness for two different fabrics in which the constituent yarns are assumed to be either incompressible or compressible. This model is also applied to various plain fabrics woven from cotton, rayon, wool, linen, nylon, acetate, polyester, and silk yarns.  相似文献

The water balance and groundwater dynamics due to surface–groundwater interactions for watershed health assessment were investigated for the Han River basin (34,148 km2) of South Korea using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT). The model was established considering 4 multipurpose dams and 3 multifunction weirs. The SWAT was spatially calibrated and validated using daily observed inflows for the dam (2005–2014) and weir (2012–2014) as well as evapotranspiration, soil moisture, and groundwater level data (2009–2013). The simulation results revealed the impact of surface–groundwater exchange fluxes on the water balance and baseflow by evaluating the vertical water budget and horizontal water transfer. Evapotranspiration in the surface and return flows from the shallow aquifer for the dry season was estimated to be 29 and 10% higher than for the wet season, respectively. Percolation’s role was also significant, providing approximately 24% of the annual groundwater recharge to shallow aquifers in the rainy season. On average, the February to August period (A) was characterized by a net flux of infiltration into the groundwater. For the September to January period (B), the proportion of groundwater flow into the river of the basin was nearly balanced by a slight increase in surface water infiltration. During period A of average surface water infiltration into the groundwater, the net groundwater recharge was positive and up to 20% of the infiltration during this period resulted from groundwater recharge. These results showed that groundwater recharge is strongly affected by the surface water and groundwater interactions.  相似文献

In this study, electrospinning of poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and its optimum preparation conditions were examined in detail using various solvent systems, such as formic acid, dichloromethane/dimethyl formamide (DMF), chloroform/DMF, and dichloroethane. The average fiber diameter of the electrospun PCL mat was controlled by the solvent used with a proper concentration of PCL dope solution. Different fiber sizes (0.1, 0.8, 1.9, and 3.4 μm) of uniform PCL mats were fabricated and the effects of fiber size on surface morphology, tensile properties and cell behavior were investigated. Here, we manipulated much broader range of average fiber diameter of the mats, from nano to several micron size of fiber. It was found that the fiber diameter greatly affected topology (surface roughness) and mechanical properties of the electrospun PCL mat and consequently, they influenced the cell behavior (adhesion and proliferation) significantly. We expect that these results will provide more feasible application of electrospun PCL scaffold in tissue engineering through the co-relations in structure and property of PCL fiber mat on cell behavior.  相似文献

RNA silencing is a sequence-specific RNA degradation system that is conserved in a wide range of organisms. The elucidation of the mechanism of RNA silencing has stimulated its use as a reverse genetics tool, because RNA silencing strongly down-regulates the expression of the target gene in a sequence-specific manner. The major protein fraction of wheat grain is gluten which is largely responsible for the functional properties of dough. Gliadins contribute mainly to the extensibility and viscosity of gluten and dough, with the polymeric glutenins being responsible for elasticity. The aim of this work was therefore to silence the expression of specific γ-gliadins by RNA interference, to demonstrate the feasibility of systematically silencing specific groups of gluten proteins. The sequence of a γ-gliadin gene was used to construct the pghp8.1 plasmid. The hpRNA silencing fragment was designed on the basis of 169 base pairs (bp) in sense and antisense orientation with the sequence of the Ubi1 intron as spacer region between the repeats. Two lines of bread wheat were transformed by particle bombardment. Gliadins were extracted from 30 mg of flour, separated by acid-PAGE and determined by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). Seven transgenic lines were obtained and all of them showed reduced levels of γ-gliadins. All seven transgenic plants were fully fertile and their grain morphology and seed weight were comparable to the control lines. MALDI-TOF MS showed that six peaks, present in the untransformed line, were missing in transgenic lines of the BW208 genotype whereas three peaks were missing in the BW2003 genotypes. The proportion of γ-gliadins was reduced, by about 55–80% in the BW208 lines and by about 33–43% in the BW2003 lines. The ELISA assay based on the R5 antibody showed reductions in total gliadins (μg/mg flour) in three of the BW208 lines and in one BW2003 line, but an increase in one BW208 line (C613).  相似文献

Field experiments were conducted to analyze the relationship between the settled soil volume in water (SSVW) and the growth of Monochoria vaginalis (Burm. f.) Kunth under organic farming conditions. SSVW corresponds to the mud volume per dry matter weight. Soil was sampled from the superficial layer of the topsoil (<10 mm), which was of a finer texture than the rest of the topsoil. Without the application of rice bran, there was a negative correlation between SSVW and the number of individuals of M. vaginalis. This finding suggests that SSVW is useful as a physical indicator for the growth suppression of M. vaginalis. The application of rice bran dramatically reduced the number of M. vaginalis. The values of SSVW with rice bran were greater than those without rice bran. The analysis of SSVW indicates that the change in soil physical properties following the application of rice bran was one of the factors responsible for the suppression of M. vaginalis growth.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to explore optimal extraction technology of β-glucan from bran of hull-less barley (Qingke in Chinese), and provide scientific basis for industrialization of β-glucan extraction from a commodity waste which is rich in β-glucan. β-Glucan extraction from bran of hull-less barley was performed with an accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) technique and compared with ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), and reflux extraction. The best combination of extraction parameters was obtained through response surface methodology (RSM) with a three-variable-three-level Box-Behnken design (BBD). The optimum extraction parameters were as follow: extraction time for 9 min, extraction temperature at 70 °C, number of cycles at 4, and extraction pressure at 10 MPa. Under these conditions, the experimental extraction yield of β-glucan was 16.39 ± 0.3%, which agreed closely with the predicted value (16.33%). Compared with other extraction methods, ASE produced much higher β-glucan and more environmentally friendly extraction and solvent systems, less extraction discrimination and shorter time, and could be useful to the development of industrial extraction processes.  相似文献

Kevlar fibers were treated in three kinds of coupling agents’ solutions by Co60 γ-ray co-irradiation. After the treatment, the interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) values of Kevlar fibers/epoxy composites were all improved. Surface elements of the fibers were determined by energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EDX). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) indicated that the oxygen/carbon ratio of the treated fibers was increased and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrum confirmed the increase in the polar groups at the fiber surface. The tensile strength of the fibers was evaluated by statistical analysis using the Weibull distribution. The wettability of the fiber surface was also enhanced by the treatment. The possible mechanisms of γ-ray co-irradiation treatment are proposed by the radical reactions. The results indicated that γ-ray co-irradiation technique modified the physicochemical properties of Kevlar fibers and improved the interfacial adhesion of its composites.  相似文献

The synthesis of poly(norbornene ester)s by using a (η 3-substituted allyl) palladium (N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)) complex as catalyst was performed and the relationship between chemical structure and glass transition temperature or refractive index of poly(norbornene ester)s was investigated. Norbornene ester monomers were synthesized via esterification of 5-norbornene-2-methyl alcohol and aromatic carboxylic acids. The polymerization catalyst, (η 3-substituted allyl) palladium (NHC) complex, was synthesized according to a published procedure. 1H-NMR spectroscopy was performed to determine chemical structure of monomers and polymers. The molecular weight of the polymers was measured via gel permeation chromatography and the thermal properties were analyzed via thermogravimetric analysis and dynamic mechanical analysis. Refractive indices of polymer films were measured using a prism coupler. Polymers with the highest M n (between 100 kg/mol and 300 kg/mol) were synthesized when the ratio of monomer to catalyst was 2000:1. The glass transition temperature of synthesized polymers was about 100 °C lower than that of conventional norbornene polymers. Among the six polymers of different chemical structures, four polymers exhibited a refractive index of 1.6 or more at a wavelength in the visible light region.  相似文献
