In recent years flaxleaf fleabane has become a widespread and difficult-to-control weed in no-tilled fallowed fields, where weeds are controlled by applications of glyphosate, in annual cropping systems of north-east Australia. Fifty-two populations, collected in a national survey from agricultural and non-agricultural areas, were tested in two glyphosate dose-response pot experiments. In two subsequent pot experiments, a sub-set of these populations was tested with a field rate of glyphosate when weeds of two ages were grown at different soil moistures. In the first and second experiments, most populations collected from chemical fallowed or cropped fields in north-east Australia had GR50 (estimated dose for 50% biomass reduction) values three to six times greater than the susceptible populations, indicating low levels of glyphosate resistance. Several populations from roadsides adjacent to chemical fallowed or cropped fields also had higher GR50 values, indicating movement of seeds from resistant plants. In the third experiment, weed biomass of all populations from chemical fallowed or cropped fields was 70-98% of unsprayed compared to 2-3% for the susceptible populations, irrespective of weed age or soil moisture. In the fourth experiment which treated older weeds, the response of several resistant populations to glyphosate was unaffected by differences in weed age and soil moisture, whereas the biomass of the other resistant populations was greater following spraying of older and/or moisture stressed plants compared with smaller non-stressed plants. Thus, exclusive reliance on glyphosate for fallow weed control in this region has resulted in the evolution of resistance in flaxleaf fleabane populations in a cropping system with annual non-transgenic crops. Prolific production of windborne seeds, combined with poor control associated with spraying large moisture-stressed weeds, is likely to have contributed also to flaxleaf fleabane becoming such a problem weed.  相似文献

为给小麦孢囊线虫综合治理提供一定的理论依据,通过对苏皖鲁豫接壤地区30块田的调查和分析,探讨了这些地区麦田小麦孢囊线虫的发生情况及线虫群体之间亲缘关系。结果表明,采集的30份样品中都能检测到孢囊线虫,孢囊密度为每100g土壤1~80个。进一步对30个小麦孢囊线虫群体的rDNA-ITS区PCR扩增、测序,对其序列进行比较分析发现,30个分离物的核苷酸序列同源性为97.1%~100%,与已报道的中国菌株(AY148382,EU106175)、澳大利亚菌株(AY148395)和俄罗斯菌株(AY148351)群体的进化关系最为接近,且位于进化树的同一个分枝,都属于禾谷孢囊线虫Avenae组。  相似文献

Lolium rigidum is the most prevalent and damaging grass weed of winter cereals in Spain. L. rigidum infestations are frequently treated with herbicides and, consequently, populations have evolved resistance. The objective of this study was to determine the extent and frequency of herbicide resistance in L. rigidum populations in Spain to the selective herbicides chlortoluron, diclofop-methyl and chlorsulfuron, commonly used for its control in-crop, and to glyphosate. The response to these herbicides was evaluated on 123 accessions surveyed randomly across cereal cropping areas of the regions of Castile and León, Catalonia and Andalusia. The fresh weight and the frequency of undamaged plants were calculated for each accession and herbicide. At the regional level, higher frequencies of accessions displaying resistance occurred in Catalonia, an intensively cropped region with a greater herbicide selection pressure. Of concern is that in this region the 60% of the accessions displayed some level of resistance to the ALS-inhibiting herbicide chlorsulfuron. The 6.9% of the accessions found in Castile and León with some resistance to glyphosate could also indicate an incipient problem of resistance to this herbicide. For the other herbicides and regions the majority of the accessions remained susceptible. The possible mechanisms of herbicide resistance development in L. rigidum accessions (target-site versus non-target-site resistance) and their variation among regions was discussed. This study can be used to generate herbicide resistance-management schemes for farmers, based upon the herbicide the site and the potential for resistance development.  相似文献

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is grown in many arid regions using fallow management whereby no crop is grown in alternate cropping seasons. Although fallowing is important in increasing the availability of water and nitrogen to crops in many environments, experiments in Israel revealed that water carryover from the fallow season for wheat production was rare. This paper examines the possibility that improved water use, and improved root and shoot growth, result from soil sanitation of cereal cyst nematode (CCN, Heterodera avenae Woll.) in the fallow season. Pot experiments in controlled environments revealed a dramatic, negative effect of various populations of CCN on wheat root growth. The decrease in root growth was associated with decreased shoot growth and decreased rates of transpiration. Mechanical pruning of roots mimicked the effects of CCN infestation indicating that root pruning is probably the primary damage of CCN. In the field, dry weight yields of wheat were maintained even in continuous wheat management when a soil biocide was used to control CCN. It is proposed that the success of the fallow management is based on the fact that CCN cysts hatch in wet soil during rainy periods of the fallow year but fail to produce a new generation of cysts because no host plants are present.  相似文献

Summary

Evaluating soil conservation and plant production on reclaimed lands requires an understanding of the rate of change in soil organic matter (SOM) under specific land use systems and management practices. By using a geographic information system (GIS), changes in the SOM status were assessed and mapped at an experimental station in subtropical China after eleven years of reclamation. Maps of soil survey, land use and topographic information of the experimental station were entered into the computer after digitalization, and a land unit map was produced by overlaying these maps. The SOM levels in different time periods were entered and combined with their corresponding land units in the land unit map, and their differences (?SOM) in time for each land unit were calculated. SOM changes at the experimental station were then assessed and mapped based on the ?SOM values. The changing status in various land use systems, soil types and relief patterns could be shown in the computer. SOM changes varied with land use systems and the original SOM levels. After 11 years of reclamation, the soils with SOM levels of > 30 and < 10 g Kg?1 decreased 95.3% and 30.9% in area, respectively, while those with SOM levels of 20-30 and 10-20 g Kg?1 increased 44.3% and 8.4%, respectively. The SOM content in paddy fields, vegetable fields, pastures, and grasslands increased due to reclamation practices, but decreased in fuel woods, sparse weed land, and bare land.  相似文献

Populations (eggs/g dried soil) of the cereal cyst nematode Heterodera avenae Woll. failed to increase at two sites on susceptible spring barley but increased slightly at another on spring oats. Nematode multiplication was not related to the numbers of females produced on roots in summer; fewer female nematodes were produced where populations increased than where they declined. The failure of the nematode to multiply was due to few (less than 40%) of the females forming cysts containing eggs, a reduction in fecundity and an increase in the number of encysted eggs containing fungi. Verticillium chlamydosporium was the main fungus causing the decline in nematode numbers. Nematophthora gynophila was present at all sites but was most active at Woburn where irrigation was used to keep soils moist. V. chlamydosporium was the main parasite of encysted eggs at all sites but soil-borne saprophytic fungi were also isolated. These fungi were not found in many eggs and were considered to be only weak parasites. Differences in resting fungal spore densities in soil were not always related to differences in rates of parasitism. The activity of N. gynophila is affected by soil moisture and density of females as well as the density of spores in soil. The production of chlamydospores by V. chlamydosporium may also depend on the isolate of fungus present: some isolates produce no such spores on artificial media or, possibly, in soil. This work has shown that V. chlamydosporium and N. gynophila can reduce cereal cyst nematode populations under susceptible cereals but it is difficult to predict at present if they will give an effective control in a given soil or season.  相似文献

A potato cropping rotation study was initiated on coarse textured soils in 1969 to compare annual cropping to potatoes with potato-grain rotations. At the completion of the 1975 season, those treatments annually cropped to potatoes had been planted to potatoes for seven consecutive years. After this period of time, total yields were reduced by 14% or 55 cwt/acre (6 T/ha) when compared to yields from potato-grain rotation treatments. Soil fumigation with 30 gpa (285 1/ha) of soil fumigant (Shell D-D) resulted in no beneficial effects on tuber yield or quality.  相似文献

应用PCR-RFLP方法对连作与轮作大豆土壤中反硝化微生物种群和分类进行研究。结果 2种土壤样品中均可检测到反硝化微生物存在。从2种土壤中获取268个nirS基因克隆,46种基因型,其中连作土壤中有29种基因型,轮作土壤中有34种基因型,分析结果显示2种土壤样品中均有优势菌群存在,并且连作土壤样品中反硝化细菌的优势菌群略多于轮作土壤样品。序列同源性分析显示nirS基因克隆序列与已知反硝化微生物具有较远的亲缘关系。结果提示:与轮作大豆相比,连作大豆土壤中反硝化微生物的遗传多样性和组成有所改变,类群的结构组成易受耕作方式影响。  相似文献

为了明确海南山区耕地土壤养分空间分布特征,为热带山区耕地土壤养分管理提供思路。以海南五指山市耕地为研究对象,采用野外调查、采样和室内分析相结合的方法,阐述土壤养分现状,探讨其土壤养分分布规律。结果表明:五指山耕地土壤总体呈酸性,其pH值为5.1;土壤有机质、有效磷、速效钾和中量元素(钙、镁、硫)含量均为中等或偏下水平,土壤有效铜和有效锌含量较为丰富。五指山耕地土壤酸化和养分含量分布不均主要与气候、母质分布和施肥不平衡有关。  相似文献

Field studies conducted over a 5 yr period to compare the effect of continuous cropping of several potato clones (Butte, Russet Burbank, Targhee, A66107-51, and A68113-4) showed Butte to be highly resistant toPratylenchus neglectus while being highly susceptible toVerticillium dahliae. This was further evidenced during the 6th yr when Russet Burbank was cropped over all plot-locations. Populations ofP. neglectus were shown to be significantly less (0.05 P) in both soil and roots when Russet Burbank was grown over sites previously cropped with the Butte potato than over site-locations cropped by either Russet Burbank, Targhee, A66107–51, or A68113–4. Additional field and greenhouse studies corroborated the high degree of resistance of Butte toPratylenchus spp. In addition toP. neglectus resistance, a greenhouse investigation also showed resistance to P. penetrans. A field study designed to compare the effects of Butte with nematicides showed that Butte reducedP. neglectus populations in both soil and roots when compared with Russet Burbank. This degree of reduction was equivalent to the effects of either of two systemic nematicides (aldicarb and isofenphos) at 3.4 to 4.0 kg a.i./ha, respectively. Results demonstrate biological control with the Butte potato clone forP. neglectus suppression. Although populations ofP. neglectus were reduced by either nematicides or Butte, wilt severity was higher with Butte than Russet Burbank. Results showed wilt suppression andP. neglectus reduction with treatments of either nematicide, while having no significant effect on the colonization of potato stems byV. dahliae.  相似文献

A survey of New Brunswick potato fields with symptoms of early dying was conducted in September 1990 and 1991. Root lesion nematodes (Pratylenchus spp.) were detected in 43 of 46 fields in 1990 and in 37 of 43 fields in 1991. In 1990 and 1991 populations averaged 910 and 410 nematodes g-1 dry root and 1030 and 720 nematodes kg1 dry soil, respectively. Previous crops did not affect nematode populations, except in one comparison where the number of nematodes in potato roots in 1990 was higher when the previous crop was cereal than in 1991 when the previous crop was peas.Pratylenchus crenatus was more prevalent thanP. penetrans. Root-knot nematodes(Meloidogyne hapla) were detected at a few sites at low population levels only in 1991. In 1991,Verticillium albo-atrum was detected in all 37 potato fields where fungal analyses were conducted, and the average population was 350 propagules g1 dry soil. Soil populations ofV. alboatrum did not differ in fields in which either Russet Burbank or Shepody were being grown, nor did previous crops have any effect.Verticillium dahliae was detected in 17 fields at very low populations, usually below 1 propagule g1 dry soil. There were no significant correlations (P<0.05) between populations of P.crenatus orP. penetrans in soil or roots and populations ofV. albo-atrum orV. dahliae propagules in soil.  相似文献

Field survey and satellite image processing methods were used to estimate the total available forage over an area of 95 034 ha in north‐eastern Syria, and to assess grazing impact on the area. The above‐ground plant biomass was measured by a quadrat method at three sites in each of eight vegetation classes. Available forage was measured by excluding woody parts of shrubs from the whole aerial plant parts. The total above‐ground plant biomass and available forage were estimated by extrapolating the measured point data to the whole target area using classified vegetation data by satellite image processing. Grazing impact was assessed by calculating the differences between the total available forage at the end of growing season and the end of dry season. The values for the estimated total available forage (s.e. of mean) in the area were 55 628 000 (12 920 000) kg DM and 30 007 000 (2 437 000) kg DM at the end of growing season and dry season respectively. Although the area of the cereal fields covered only 0·315 of the area, about 0·69 and 0·82 of the available forage existed in the harvested cereal fields at the ends of growing season and dry season respectively. The integration of cereal fields and rangeland is a normal land use system for livestock management in the area. The higher cover of herbaceous vegetation types showed higher grazing impacts which reduced the total available forage at the end of the growing season by 0·817 (0·199) at the end of the dry season. Although these dense herbaceous vegetation types could possibly produce more available forage, they would incur more intensive grazing impact. On the contrary, lighter grazing impact would occur with a higher cover of shrub vegetation types. The importance of maintaining plant cover over the rangeland area to protect the land against soil erosion is stressed.  相似文献

Management practices for the suppression of Verticillium wilt of Russet Burbank potato include sanitation, use of optimum sprinkler-irrigation practices, soil solarization, and an adequate soil fertility program. Among all cultural factors considered, nitrogen (N) deficiency in potato tissue was most commonly associated with the severity of Verticiilium wilt in Russet Burbank potato. Field studies have shown that increased N availability suppresses Verticiilium incidence on cv Russet Burbank while having no effect on cv Norgold Russet. Studies from both greenhouse and field show that the colonization ofV dahliae in potato stem tissue is suppressed in cv Russet Burbank when the availability of Phosphorous (P) is increased to the optimum. Following one season of cropping with Russet Burbank potato, the treatment providing the optimal N availability also suppressed the increases ofV dahliae populations in the soil during the following year of consecutive cropping. Similarly, after two seasons of continuous potato cropping, treatments with optimal P had lower soil populations ofV. dahliae in soil. Results show the suppression of Verticiilium wilt with optimal fertility. Verticiilium wilt [caused by eitherVerticiilium dahliae Kleb, (microsclerotial form) orVerticiilium albo- atrum Reinke and Berthold (dark mycelial form)] is one of the most severe diseases of potato in the United States. Potato yields, tuber size, and specific gravity may be substantially reduced by this disease, depending on severity, time of occurrence, and growing season. In Idaho and other arid growing regions of the United States, Verticiilium wilt is caused byVerticillium dahliae Kleb. Idaho field studies involving cropping practices, soil fumigation treatments, solarization, and Verticillium-resistant potato clones all support the importance ofV dahliae upon potato yield. Data from these studies show that yield losses due toV. dahliae commonly approximate 5 to 12 metric T/ha (5, 6). Table 1 illustrates the effect of several cropping practices upon relativeV dahliae populations in soil with the effects upon both disease severity and potato yield. With continuous cropping of Russet Burbank,V dahliae populations in soil increased, and yields were reduced by 18 to 19 metric Tlha when compared to locations that had been allowed to remain either weed-free and fallow or where corn had been previously cropped. It was estimated thatV dahliae was influencing yield by about 10 to 12 metric Tlha based on a regression analysis of yield as a function ofV dahliae populations in soil. Similarly, whenV dahliae was suppressed by fumigation treatments involving mixtures of dichloropropene and picfume, yields more significantly increased by 6.5 to 12 metric T/ha (5). Although many factors may influence yields, clones with higher Verticillium resistance than Russet Burbank generally out-yield Russet Burbank. Figure 1 demonstrates the effect of solarization (a technique involving the laying of clear plastic on soil for the purpose of elevating soil temperatures to killV dahliae). When Verticillium was controlled in this manner (lo), there was no significant yield difference between the Russet Burbank potato and the highly resistant A68113-4 clone. The A68113-4 clone grown in non-solarized soil out-yielded the Russet Burbank in non-solarized soil by 31 percent while the solarization treatment significantly increased yield for the Russet Burbank and A68113-4 clones by 46 and 18 percent, respectively. These yield responses were observed in a field where inoculum levels ofV dahliae were relatively low (2.10 cfulgrn of soil). With these losses, the need to develop control procedures is great and to achieve this control the need also exists to accurately evaluate the effect of treatments uponV dahliae. Our Idaho studies have routinely utilized such a procedure (9) in combination with comparisons of both disease severity and yield.  相似文献

Data from six experiments with registered, nonpersistent chemical compounds for control of Pacific coast wireworm (Limonius canus Le-Conte) were combined to elucidate the relative efficiency of three types of treatments. The treatments were soil fumigation and band or broadcast applications of granular organophosphorus insecticides. Band treatments gave less effective and more variable control than broadcast treatments. Fumigation treatments were more effective than, and about equally as variable as, broadcast treatments. All treatments became progressively less effective and less dependable as the population of wireworms increased. It was not economical to treat infestations of less than 0.12 wireworms/ft2. Band treatments were usually adequate for populations up to 0.4/ft2 and broadcast treatments for populations up to 1.6/ft2. However, it was considered most economical to broadcast for infestations between 0.15 and 0.7/ft2. For heavier infestations, either fumigation or a combination of treatments appeared prudent. Because all treatments performed rather inconsistently, precautions to avoid underestimating an infestation are justified.  相似文献

For three years, potato yields, tuber quality, and incidence ofVerticillium dahliae were measured in field plots previously cropped for one year to the following nonhosts: sudan grass, green peas followed by sudan grass (same year), spring wheat, spring wheat followed by sudan grass (same year), sweet corn and field corn. One year rotation to nonhosts did not reduce the population ofV. dahliae propagules in the soil and in only one of the three years wereV. dahliae propagule numbers in potato stems significantly reduced in plots following nonhost crops, compared with plots following potatoes. Verticillium wilt symptoms in potatoes were not reduced by one year rotation to any of these crops and only in one year in three was yield significantly increased. In two of three years, percent U.S. No. 1 tubers was increased following one-year rotation with green peas plus sudan grass, and in one of the two years, specific gravity was increased by rotation. Rotational cropping to nonhosts for two years between potatoes significantly reduced preplant soil populations ofV. dahliae propagules in the soil and in potato stems the following fall. However, soil populations in these two year rotational plots the spring following potato were not reduced compared to plots previously cropped to potatoes two consecutive years. Cropping to nonhosts for two years had no consistent effect on incidence of Verticillium wilt in subsequent potato crops. Two years’ rotation to nonhosts increased plant height and yield compared to continuous cropping to potato but not percent U.S. No. 1 tubers. The various nonhost crops all had about the same non-significant effect on yield. In two out of three years’ trials, fumigation significantly reduced both the incidence of Verticillium wilt and number ofV. dahliae propagules in stems in plots compared to plots non-fumigated. In only one trial, fumigation significantly increased tuber yields and percent U.S. No. 1 tubers.  相似文献

SUMMARY

Like the problem of salt-affected soils afflicting many other countries with arid and semi-arid climates, these lands occupy about 8.6 M ha in India out of which 3.5 M ha are in canal commands, commonly referred to as man made or wet deserts. Starting from the early systematic work of Dr. Leather about a century ago, real impetus to development and application of reclamation technologies has occurred in the post independence period, especially the seventies. Salt-affected soils are grouped into saline and alkali/sodic soils on the considerations of soil management and crop responses. Out of the 3.4 M ha of alkali lands in Indo-Gangetic Plains, about 1.0 M ha has been reclaimed by the hydro-chemical technology. Application of amendments like gypsum, equivalent to 50% gypsum requirement, to the surface 15-cm soil only was enough to start cropping with rice. Light and frequent irrigation are ideal for upland crops. Application of higher doses of nitrogen in splits to compensate for volatilization losses, organic matter additions through green manure to increase reclaiming action, skipping phosphorus application in the initial years and the application of zinc to each crop were some of the emerging recommendations. Application of low-grade pyrites also gave encouraging results in calcareous soils. Feasibility of drainage has been successfully demonstrated in 1980s for the quicker rehabilitation of saline and waterlogged soils. Provision for subsurface drains at 1.5–2.0 m depth and 50–75 m spacing in alluvial soils and 12–24 m interval in vertisol was sufficient for facilitating growing crops within 2–3 years on lands lying barren for considerable period. However, technological, economic, social, and political considerations are the major bottlenecks for large-scale amelioration of saline soils, in addition to the safer disposal of drainage waters. Strategies worked out for successful crop production on saline soils after drainage include initial leaching management (minimizing water requirement for leaching by synchronizing with monsoon rains, etc.), proper selection of crops/cultivars, irrigation (method, controlled frequency for enhancing water-table contribution, canal water use during the initial stages including presowing for conjunctive use with drainage waters) and cultural practices (furrow planting, increasing seed rate and fertility management). Some of the future issues for combating salinity and also preventing further land degradations in India are also highlighted.  相似文献

研究四种耕作方式(连作、轮作、水田改旱作和撂荒)对大豆苗期胞囊线虫群体数量的影响.研究结果表明,在黑龙江和辽宁两省,连作使大豆田土壤中胞囊数量显著增加,撂荒使大豆田土壤中胞囊积累数量最少,其次是水改旱和轮作.连作可促进大豆根上和根内胞囊线虫数量显著增加,随连作年限增加,根内胞囊线虫数量也显著增加.轮作条件下根上和根内大豆胞囊线虫的发生较连作少,但高于水改旱和撂荒,其中在3种轮作方式中玉米-玉米-大豆的轮作土壤中胞囊数量积累最少,根上和根内大豆胞囊线虫发生也较少.水改旱条件下,根上和根内大豆胞囊线虫的发生数量都很少.撂荒条件下,根上未发现胞囊线虫,而且根内胞囊线虫发生也很少.大豆种衣剂的施用在一定程度上能够抑制或干扰胞囊线虫的孵化与侵染.  相似文献
