Manipulation of photoperiod: 24 h light (24L), 12 h light:12 h dark (12L:12D) and 24 h dark (24D); and feeding schedules: day and night feeding (DNF), day feeding (DF) and night feeding (NF) was conducted to determine effects on survival, cannibalism and growth of larval bagrid catfish Mystus nemurus 2–14 days after hatching (dAH). Photoperiod insignificantly affected all parameters. Feeding schedule significantly affected survival and total length at 6 (< 0.049; < 0.009), 10 (P < 0.033; < 0.000) and 14 dAH (< 0.013; < 0.000), respectively, but affected cannibalism at 10 (< 0.043) and 14 dAH (< 0.013). Survival for DNF was significantly higher than DF. Cannibalism for DNF was significantly lower than NF at 10 and 14 dAH. Total length for DNF was significantly higher than DF and NF at 10 and 14 dAH. At 14 dAH, feeding schedule significantly affected feed intake, final weight and coefficient of variation. For feed intake and final weight, DNF was significantly higher than DF and NF. For coefficient of variation, NF was significantly higher than DF. This study suggests that larval bagrid catfish can be reared at 24L, 12L:12D or 24D but should be fed day and night for improved growth, survival and reduced cannibalism.  相似文献

Triplicate groups of Mystus nemurus (Cuvier & Valenciennes) were fed isoenergetic semipurified diets containing seven dietary protein levels from 200 to 500 g kg–1 diet for 10 weeks. Dietary protein was supplied by graded amounts of a protein mixture (tuna muscle meal:casein:gelatine) at a fixed ratio of 50:37.5:12.5. Mystus nemurus fingerlings of initial weight 7.6 ± 0.2 g were fed close to apparent satiation at 2.5% of their body weight per day in two equal feedings. Growth performance and feed utilization efficiency increased linearly with dietary protein level from 202 to 410 g kg–1 diet and declined with protein levels of 471 g kg–1 diet or above. Protein efficiency ratio and apparent net protein utilization started to decline when the fish were fed with dietary protein levels exceeding 471 g kg–1 diet. Fish fed with lower protein diets (202–295 g kg–1 diet) had significantly ( P  < 0.05) higher carcass lipid content compared with fish fed with higher protein diets. Carcass lipid contents were inversely related to moisture content. Dietary protein did not significantly affect fish carcass protein and ash content. Using two-slope broken-line analysis, the dietary protein requirement for M. nemurus based on percentage weight gain was estimated to be 440 g kg–1 diet with a protein to energy ratio of 20 mg protein kJ–1 gross energy. This level of protein in the diet is recommended for maximum growth of M. nemurus fingerlings weighing between 7 and 18 g under the experimental conditions used in this study.  相似文献

Manipulation of stocking densities (10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 larvae L?1), each with or without the presence of shelter was conducted to determine the effects on survival, cannibalism and growth performances of larval bagrid catfish Mystus nemurus (Valenciennes 1840) from 2 to 14 days after hatching. This study revealed that stocking density significantly affected survival, cannibalism, total length, feed intake, specific growth rate and final weight of bagrid catfish larvae. Significantly higher survival was observed at moderate stocking density of more than 20 but less than 50 larvae L?1. Survival was significantly low beyond this threshold and was the lowest at 10 larvae L?1, coincides with the highest cannibalism. Total length, feed intake, specific growth rate and final weight were significantly higher at 10 larvae L?1. Shelter significantly improved total length and feed intake. No significant effects of stocking density and shelter were observed on the apparent feed conversion ratio and coefficient of variation. There was also no significant interaction between stocking density and shelter in all parameters. This study suggests that bagrid catfish larvae could be cultured at more than 20 but less than 50 larvae L?1 with the availability of shelter for optimal larviculture condition.  相似文献

Abstract Apparent digestibility coefficients were determined for six feedstuffs, subsequent to their processing into pelleted feed for tropical freshwater catfish, Mystus nemurus (Cuvier & Valenciennes), using a reference diet and test diets composed of 70% reference diet and 30% test ingredient. It was found that most ingredients were fairly well digested except maize and chicken viscera. Digestibility coefficient for protein (P), dry matter (DM) and energy (E) were: (1) fish meal: 97·8% P,97% DM. 77·88% E: (2) soybean meal: 86% P,95·55% DM, 67·89% E: (3) rice bran: 81% P,85·81% DM, 67·93% E: (4) copra meal: 79·90% P, 86% DM, 71·89% E: (5) maize: 51·93% P, 49·0% DM, 63·40% E and (6) chicken viscera: 37% P,29% DM, 52% E. Digestibility coefficients for feedstuffs indicated that animal protein product, such as fish meal and grain by-product, such as rice bran were more digestible than starchy and fibrous feed, e.g. maize. Chicken viscera was poorly digested largely due to inefficient processing. As most feedstuffs were well digested, ingredient selection should, therefore, be based primarily on their protein content, amino acid composition and palatability.  相似文献

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary taurine on growth performance and feed utilization of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) larvae. Four plant protein‐based, isonitrogenous (400 g kg?1 protein), isoenergetic (19 MJ kg?1) diets supplemented with four taurine concentrations (0.0, 5.0, 10.0 and 15.0 g kg?1; designated as T0, T0.5, T1 and T1.5, respectively) were prepared. The diets were fed to triplicate groups of fish larvae (0.024 g average body weight), to apparent satiation, three times per day for 60 days. Larval growth rates and feed utilization efficiency were significantly improved with increasing supplemental taurine up to 10 g kg?1 and decreased with further taurine supplementation. The quadratic regression analyses indicated that the maximum larval performance occurred at about 9.7 g kg?1 of total dietary taurine. Fish survival was significantly lower at 15 g kg?1 dietary taurine than at other taurine levels. Body protein significantly increased, while body moisture and ash decreased, with increasing dietary taurine up to 10 g kg?1 and decreased with further taurine supplementation to 15 g kg?1. Body lipid was not significantly affected by dietary taurine concentration. A number of body amino acids (tryptophan, arginine, histidine, leucine, isoleucine, valine, alanine, glycine, threonine and taurine) significantly increased with increasing supplemental taurine up to 10 g kg?1 and then decreased with further increase in dietary taurine levels. The rest of body amino acids were not significantly affected by dietary taurine. The present results suggest that about 9.7 g kg?1 dietary taurine is required for optimum performance of Nile tilapia larvae fed soybean meal‐based diets.  相似文献

The effects of different dietary lipids on the growth, feed utilization and tissue fatty acid composition of a tropical bagrid catfish Mystus nemurus (Cuvier & Valenciennes) were investigated. Eight isonitrogenous and isoenergetic semi‐purified diets were fed to triplicate groups of M. nemurus fingerlings for 10 weeks. Diet lipid levels were fixed at 10%, with 1% coming from residual oil in fishmeal and the remainder from cod liver oil (CLO), corn oil (CORN), soybean oil (SBO), crude palm oil (CPO), refined, bleached and deodorized palm olein (RBDPO) or various combinations of these oils. Catfish fed diets supplemented with 9% RBDPO showed significantly (P < 0.05) higher growth rates compared with fish fed the other seven diets. No significant differences in growth performance or feed efficiency ratio were observed between M. nemurus fed 9% CLO, CORN or CPO or fish fed diets containing 4% CLO with either 5% CORN, SBO, CPO or RBDPO. Based upon these results, palm oil‐based diets can be used effectively for M. nemurus without compromising growth or feed utilization efficiency. Muscle and liver fatty acid composition of M. nemurus reflected that of the dietary oils added in pelleted diets fed to the fish. Considering the lower cost and availability of palm oil (compared with imported vegetable oils and fish oils) in many tropical countries, its use in dietary formulations for M. nemurus, and possibly other catfish species, will make these fish feeds less expensive.  相似文献

Juvenile sea bream were fed on diets containing 0.0, 2.0 or 4.0 g kg?1 of a soybean trypsin inhibitor (SBTI) for 30 days. The growth performance, total protease activity and intestinal histology were studied after 0, 15 and 30 days of dietary treatment. No significant differences were found in the weight gain, specific growth rate (SGR) and feed conversion rate in fish fed on inhibitor‐supplemented diets when compared with those fed on an inhibitor‐free diet. Only the SGR at day 15 decreased significantly with protease inhibitor inclusion, although this effect was not observed at day 30. In relation to proteolytic activity at day 15, the total protease activity in the distal intestine decreased in fish fed on inhibitor‐supplemented diets. Zymograms of these extracts showed that the SBTI reduced the intensity of some proteolytic fractions in the distal intestine. A noticeable reduction in the protease activity of the intestinal content in fish fed on the highest level of soybean inhibitor (4.0 g kg?1) was also observed. However, at day 30, the inhibition effect on these active bands was not detected, and the total protease activity was similar to that in fish fed on an inhibitor‐free diet. Histological examination revealed no perceptible differences in the intestinal structure between any of the diet groups. In addition, all fish were maintained under experimentation for 10 more days and fed on an inhibitor‐free diet to determine whether the possible effects caused by the protease inhibitor could be reverted. The administration of SBTI‐supplemented diets did not affect sea bream growth performance or intestine histology after 30 days, and only a decrease in the total alkaline protease activity was found at day 15.  相似文献

This study aimed to assess the effect of soybean meal (SBM) and cottonseed meal (CSM), as partial replacement of dietary fish meal on growth, feed efficiency (FE) and body mineral composition of juvenile vundu (Heterobranchus longifilis). Five iso‐nitrogenous (390 g kg?1 crude protein) and iso‐caloric (18 kJ g?1, gross energy) diets (Control, SBM30, SBM60, CSM30 and CSM60) were fed to triplicate groups of 40 fish (initial mean weight: 12 g) in each tank (0.9 m3). Over a 7‐week feeding period, significant differences (P < 0.05) were observed on growth, FE and body mineral composition between treatments. Fish‐fed CSM‐based diets and 600 g kg?1 SBM‐based diet had reduced growth and reduced feed and protein efficiencies when compared with those fed diet containing 300 g kg?1 SBM or the control diet. Data from body mineral composition in response to dietary treatment could be divided into two groups. The first group refers to elements such as Mg and Fe for which carcass and fillet composition did not show significant differences with dietary level of SBM or CSM. Ca, P, K, Zn and Mn composed the second group of minerals whose concentrations in fish body were significantly reduced in fish‐fed SBM60. In conclusion, the results of this study indicate that although solvent‐extracted SBM and CSM are often reported safe for fish, they can only partially replace fish meal as a source of protein in compound feed for vundu at a limited amount between 300 and 600 g kg?1 for SBM and <300 g kg?1 for CSM.  相似文献

This study was conducted to compare the effects of fish meal (FM) replacement by two types of soybean meals (SBMs) on activities of digestive enzyme, intestinal brush border enzyme and aminotransferases of juvenile Japanese seabass (initial weight 8.3 ± 0.2 g). Nine isonitrogenous (crude protein 44%) and isoenergetic (20 kJ g?1) experimental diets replacing 0 (the control), 15%, 30%, 45% and 60% FM protein by high‐protein SBM (HSB) or commercial SBM (CSB) were formulated. The concentrations of anti‐nutritional factors (ANFs) in HSB were relatively lower compared with CSB (< 0.05). After 10‐week feeding experiment, activities of digestive enzymes, intestinal brush border enzymes and aminotransferases in liver decreased with increasing dietary SBM. When the substitution level was above 30% with CSB and 60% with HSB, activities of pepsin, disaccharidase in the intestinal brush border membrane and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in liver were significantly lower than the control. However, activities of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and AST in serum were significantly higher than the control when the substitution level was above 30% with CSB and 60% with HSB. Regression analysis showed that effects of FM substitution by HSB on digestion and metabolism of juvenile seabass were relatively smaller compared with CSB.  相似文献

Two studies were carried out to (a) characterize the gastrointestinal (GI) tract of bullfrog Rana (Lithobates) catesbeiana and (b) to evaluate the effects of total replacement of fish meal (FM) with soybean meal (SBM) on GI tract health. For characterization of the GI tract, oesophagus, stomach and intestine sections were sampled from 20 bullfrogs (80 g) fed a FM‐based diet. The results revealed that the GI tract of bullfrog is consisted of four tissue layers including mucosa, submucosa, muscularis and serosa, and that the intestine could be divided into duodenum, jejunum, ileum and rectum. Furthermore, the abundance and length of mucosal folds suggested that jejunum is the primary site of digestion and absorption of nutrients. In the second study, a diet containing 44% fish meal (FM) was formulated and used as a FM‐based diet, and a SBM‐based diet was prepared by entire substitution of FM with SBM. Sixty bullfrogs (35 ± 1 g) were divided into three replicates of the two groups and were fed the test diets to apparent satiation twice daily for 8 weeks. The changes in pH and morphology of GI tract in response to the shift in dietary protein source were evaluated. The results showed the enhancement of pH values in GI tract of the SBM group excluding cardia, jejunum and rectum. Also, SBM diet triggered significant decreases in the number, height and width of mucosal folds, while an opposite trend was observed for thickness of lamina propria. Moreover, the entire replacement of FM with SBM led to the separation of submucosa from muscularis and incidence of lesion in mucous epithelium. The findings in this study showed that jejunum is the main site of nutrients digestion and absorption. Also, it was demonstrated that entire replacement of FM with SBM adversely influenced the GI tract health in bullfrog.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to compare in vitro protein digestibility between two groups of fish, at early (21 g) and late stages (400 g) of spotted rose snapper Lutjanus guttatus, to evaluate the degree of hydrolysis (DH) and total amino acid release (TAAR) using crude extracts from stomach, pyloric caeca and intestine of 13 protein ingredients including marine, animal and plant meals. Degree of hydrolysis and TAAR were measured by a pH‐Stat method, and the PAGE‐Zymogram was also used as complementary technique. Differences in DH were found between both grow‐out stages mainly in the alkaline hydrolysis phase. Fish and squid meals (marine sources) had the highest DH and TAAR, followed by porcine meat and poultry meal by‐products from recycling sources, and soybean and canola meals (plant sources), which represent better protein sources for use in practical diets. Stomach zymograms showed two pepsin isoforms in both grow‐out stages. Pyloric caeca and intestine zymograms showed five bands with proteolytic activity in the early grow‐out stage, whereas four additional bands were found in late grow‐out stage. Alkaline proteases were identified as serine and metalloproteases. Thus, L. guttatus presents an ontogenetically differentiated digestive enzyme pattern that modifies the DH and TAAR of different protein sources.  相似文献

The feasibility of substituting soybean meal for fishmeal diets for juvenile white shrimp Litopenaeus schmitti (0.35±0.01 g) was evaluated, and an adequate substitution level was determined. Five diets were evaluated using 46%, 59%, 75%, 88% and 100% substitution levels. Pellet water stability was significantly affected by dietary soybean content (P<0.05). Increased soybean content produced lower pellet stability, ranging from a dry matter loss of 14–22% after a 2‐h immersion, and 20–33% after an 8‐h immersion. After 52 days, significant differences (P<0.05) were found in shrimp weight, feed conversion ratio and protein efficiency ratio. The values were 0.64–1.06 g, 2.8–7.9 and 0.45–1.21, respectively, for the three measurements. Overall, better results were obtained with diets where soybean meal was substituted for fishmeal up to 75%. The 100% soybean meal diet resulted in poor growth performance of shrimp. Survival rates were acceptable for all treatments (90% or higher) and no significant differences were found in survival between treatments. Regression analysis using the broken‐line methodology indicated that 76.5±2% is an optimum soybean substitution level in diets that contained fishmeal and soybean as the major protein sources for grow‐out of juvenile white shrimp.  相似文献

A feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of replacing soybean meal (SBM) with rubber seed meal (RSM) on digestive enzyme activity, nutrient digestibility and retention in juvenile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus × Oreochromis aureus). Five isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets were formulated with 0 (control), 100, 200, 300 and 400 g kg−1 RSM replacing graded levels of SBM respectively. Each diet was randomly assigned to triplicate groups of 30 fish (initial average weight 5.2 g) per aquarium in a rearing system maintained at 29 ± 1°C for 8 weeks. The hepatic protease and lipase activities gradually decreased with increasing dietary RSM level, but no significant differences were observed among the low inclusion level (0–200 g kg−1) groups. The apparent digestibility coefficients of dry matter, crude protein, crude lipid and ash showed a similar trend as the hepatic protease and lipase activities. The retentions of protein and individual essential amino acid (except lysine, threonine and leucine) in fish fed diet with 200 g kg−1 RSM were similar to those in fish fed the control diet. These results indicate that dietary RSM inclusion level up to 200 g kg−1 did not markedly affect the digestive enzyme activity, nutrient digestibility and retention in tilapia, whereas these were depressed by the inclusion of 400 g kg−1 RSM.  相似文献

A feeding trial was conducted to determine the amount of soybean meal (SBM) that could replace fish meal (FM) without compromising growth and health of Asian red‐tailed catfish (Hemibagrus wyckioides). Five isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets (S0, S15, S30, S45 and S60) were formulated with SBM to replace 0%, 15%, 30%, 45% and 60% of FM. The replacement level up to 30% improved daily growth coefficient, plasma adenosine monophosphate deaminase (AMPD) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activities and IgM content, and hepatic ALT, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and glutathione reductase activities, whereas these were depressed by a further inclusion. The highest protein efficiency ratio and lowest feed conversion ratio were observed in fish fed the S15 diet. Replacement of FM with SBM generally decreased plasma insulin and insulin‐like growth factor 1 (IGF‐1) contents and hepatic catalase activity, whereas no significant differences were observed among fish fed the S0, S15 and S30 diets. In contrast, replacing FM with SBM generally increased blood urea nitrogen content, and that was higher in fish fed the S60 diet compared to fish fed the S0 diet. The highest growth hormone (GH) and glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) activities were observed in fish fed the S30 diet. Fish fed the S30 and S45 diets exhibited the highest hepatic AMPD, GDH, IGF‐1 and target of rapamycin mRNA levels and muscle AMPD and GDH mRNA levels, whereas those were lowest in fish fed the S60 diet. These results indicate that under the reported conditions SBM may be included in the diet up to 222 g/kg as a substitute for FM, replacing about 30% of FM protein in juvenile H. wyckioides.  相似文献

This study evaluated the effects of increasing levels of methionine (Met) supplementation on the success of almost total replacement of fish meal (FM) with soybean meal (SBM) in diets for hybrid tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus × Oreochromis mossambicus). Fish were fed for 70 days a FM‐based diet (Diet1‐positive control) or SBM‐based diets supplemented with graded levels of DL‐methionine (Diet2 to Diet7). Contrast in dietary Met, concentration was created by supplementing Diet2‐negative control with 1.2 (Diet3), 2.4 (Diet4), 3.6 (Diet5), 4.8 (Diet6) or 6.0 g kg?1 (Diet7) of DL‐Met. Specific growth rate (SGR), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and protein gain and retention efficiency (PER) improved significantly with increasing levels of dietary DL‐Met supplementation. Moreover, nonlinear regression analysis of the effects of supplementing SBM‐based diet with graded levels of DL‐Met indicated that a dietary Met + Cys level of 15.7 and 12.5 g kg?1 diet (as fed) was required to reach 95% of maximum weight and protein gain, respectively. Supplementation of SBM‐based diet with graded levels of DL‐Met proved an effective strategy in reducing FM content in practical diets for hybrid tilapia. Data also indicate that adjustment of dietary formulas according to currently recommended Met or Met + Cys dietary concentrations is probably limiting maximum growth potential of hybrid tilapia.  相似文献

This experiment investigated intestinal enteropathy and digestive function of rainbow trout challenged with soybean meal‐based diet (SBM) at optimal or suboptimal environments created by normal or reduced water flow, respectively. Oxygen level remained above 7 mg L‐1 for optimal environment and between 4 and 5 mg L‐1 for suboptimal environment. Triplicate groups of fish (mean body weight 74 g) were fed fishmeal‐based diet (FM) or SBM at optimal environment in period 1 (28 days). In period 2 (42 days), fish were subjected to a change from FM to SBM or remained on the same diet as used in period 1. The fish were also exposed to change from optimal to suboptimal environment or remained under optimal conditions. The fish subjected to change from FM to SBM, regardless of their environment, showed similar degree of enteropathy from day 14. Lipid and starch digestibility was lower in SBM‐fed fish at suboptimal environment compared to fish fed the same diet at optimal environment. Crude protein digestibility, however, was highest in SBM‐fed fish at suboptimal environment throughout period 2. In conclusion, in SBM‐fed rainbow trout, exposure to suboptimal environment did not change the degree of enteropathy; however, lipid and starch digestibility were further reduced.  相似文献

The effects of two plant ingredients (solvent‐extracted soybean meal [SBM] and high‐protein sunflower meal [HPSFM]) and three inclusion levels (0 percent, practical diet containing 25 percent fish meal; 12.5 percent; and 25 percent) of these ingredients were investigated on the growth, feed utilization, gut histology and gene expression in the distal intestine of Arctic charr Salvelinus alpinus (average initial weight, 330.1 ± 8.9 g per fish). Feeding experimental diets for 12 weeks resulted in no difference between HPSFM diets in body weight gain (BWG), thermal‐unit growth coefficient (TGC), feed efficiency (FE), feed intake (FI) or pro‐inflammatory mRNA expression (PIE) with increasing dietary inclusion and between SBM FE, FI and PIE. Differences in quadratic contrasts were observed for nitrogen deposition rate (NDR) and nitrogen retention efficiency (NRE) (p < .05), whereby HPSFM diets elicited the strongest positive response. SBM resulted in linear reduction in BWG, TGC and distal intestine simple fold length and width measurements (p < .05) with stepwise increases in dietary inclusion, whereas dietary HPSFM had no effect. Histological observations of individual villi indicated several symptoms of non‐infectious subacute gastrointestinal enteritis in tanks fed SBM, many of which were not present in tanks fed HPSFM. The dietary HPSFM seems to be more adequate to replace fishmeal in Arctic charr diet than SBM, when fed at a level of up to 25 percent at the grow‐out stage.  相似文献

A 9‐week study was conducted to evaluate the potential of processed animal protein (PAP) in comparison with soybean meal (SM) to replace fish meal (FM) in practical diets for European catfish, Silurus glanis, on growth performance, liver transaminase activities and expression of growth‐related genes. Seven isonitrogenous (440 g kg‐1 crude protein) and isoenergetic (16.70 MJ/kg) practical diets were formulated by replacing 0 (control), 30%, 60% and 100% FM with either SM or PAP. Each diet was randomly assigned to triplicate groups of 25 fish per cages fixed in the pond. Fish fed the diet substituted 100% FM from SM or PAP had lower (p < .05) growth performance, feed efficiency and protein retention compared to control and other groups. The decreased growth performance occurred concomitant with a decline in the expression level of liver GHR/IGF‐I axis genes. The gene expression and activity of liver protein metabolism enzymes also positively correlated with growth performance. Findings of this study indicated that both SM and PAP were equally effective in replacing FM up to 60% in the practical diet of Silurus glanis. Total replacement of FM either with SM or PAP induced negative influences on growth and feed utilization.  相似文献

The experiment was conducted to determine the effect of dietary DL‐methionine addition in fish meal reduction diet for juvenile golden pompano (Trachinotus ovatus). The trial comprises the following of 11 diet treatments. (i) D1 diet as the standard was formulated with fish meal as the main protein source. (ii) D2–D5 diets were formulated to replace fish meal with soybean meal at 60, 120, 180 and 300 g kg?1, respectively, and the amino acid profiles (including methionine and lysine) of D2–D5 were referred to the amino acid profile of D1. (iii) D6‐D9 diets were the same as D2–D5, respectively, but without methionine supplementation. (iv) D10 and D11 diets were the same as D3 and D5 diets, respectively, but without lysine supplementation. Each diet was randomly fed to groups of 20 fish (initial average weight about 18 g) per net cage (1.0 × 1.0 × 1.5 m) in triplicate and the feeding experiment lasted for 56 days. Weight gain (WG, %) and final body weight (FBW, g) of fish fed D3 diet were significantly higher than those of fish fed D8 and D9 diets (< 0.05), but without significant differences with fish fed other diets (> 0.05). Feed conversion ratio (FCR) of D3, D4 and D5 diet treatments were significantly lower than that of D11 diet treatment (< 0.05), but without significant difference with other diet treatments (> 0.05). Whole‐body protein contents of fish fed D3–D5 were significantly higher than those of fish fed D7–D9 (< 0.05), but without significant differences with fish fed other diets (> 0.05). In conclusion, the replacement of fish meal by soybean meal could reach 300 g kg?1 without detrimental but profitable effect on growth and survival when enough methionine and lysine were supplemented in the diet; moreover, lysine is not the first‐limiting amino acid relative to methionine for juvenile T. ovatus from the present growth and proximate composition results.  相似文献

The study was undertaken to evaluate the growth performance and feed utilization of African catfish, Clarias gariepinus, fed six diets (D) in which fishmeal (FM) was gradually replaced by a mixture of local plant by‐products. In diets 1 and 2, FM (250 g kg?1) was replaced by sunflower oil cake (SFOC). In diets 3 and 4, FM (250 and 150 g kg?1, respectively) was replaced by SFOC and bean meal (BM) while FM was totally substituted by a mixture of groundnut oil cake (GOC), BM and SFOC in diets 5 and 6. Sunflower oil cake was cooked, soaked or dehulled in order to determine the appropriate processing techniques for improving the SFOC nutritive value and to evaluate the apparent digestibility coefficient (ADC) values of the alternative diets. No significant differences were observed for daily feed intake, weight gain, specific growth rate (SGR) and feed efficiency (FE) among fish fed D1, D2, D3 (250 g kg?1 FM), D4 (150 g kg?1 FM) and D6 (0 g kg?1 FM). The highest SGR (3.2% per day) and FE (1.2) were achieved in fish fed D3, and the lowest in fish fed D5 (0% FM), suggesting a maximum acceptable dietary concentration of hulled SFOC below 250 g kg?1 in African catfish juveniles. Protein efficiency ratio ranged from 2.2 to 3.2 for all dietary treatments and was positively influenced by FM inclusion. African catfish were able to digest plant protein very efficiently in all diets tested. ADC of protein ranged from 88.6 to 89.5%, while ADC of energy was relatively low for diets containing hulled sunflower oilcake (71–74%) and high when sunflower oilcake was dehulled (78.6–81.3%). Similarly, ADC of dry matter was higher when sunflower was dehulled (72.1%) when compared with crude SFOC (60.5%). Soaking increased ADC values for neutral detergent fibre (NDF), dry matter, energy, protein and amino acids (AA). There were no significant differences in protein ADCs (88–90%) with increased levels of dietary vegetable ingredients. Both soaking and dehulling of sunflower before incorporation helped in the reduction of NDF, antitrypsin and tannins. Digestibility of all AA was generally high, greater than 90% for both indispensable and non‐indispensable AA. Based on the data obtained, it was possible to totally replace menhaden fish meal with a mixture of vegetable proteins (72% of total dietary protein) when diets contained a relatively low percentage of animal protein (28% based on blood meal and chicken viscera meal) without negative effects.  相似文献
