OAC Royal Gold is a purple skin yellow fleshed potato cultivar with oval shaped tubers. It produced high specific gravity and boil and bake scores when evaluated at three sites over three years in Ontario. OAC Royal Gold was lower yielding than Chieftain and is recommended for fresh market use in Ontario. Having an unusual combination of skin and flesh color, Royal Gold would be most suitable in niche markets.  相似文献

Jewel is a new potato variety with a good yield of No. 1 tubers and high specific gravity. It chips extremely well to produce light color chips with high chip yields per hundredweight. It has a heavy tuber set per hill but a tendency to produce small tubers. Tests in New York and Wisconsin indicate this variety consistently produces high specific gravity and should not be considered as an all-purpose potato. The variety has the ability to recondition in a short time following 40 F storage. It has no known disease resistance.  相似文献

Norchief is a medium late maturing, red variety with high total solids. In yield, the new variety is quite comparable to Red Pontiac and La Rouge but higher than Norland. Norchief has shown a certain degree of field tolerance to potato flea beetle,Epitrix cucumeris.  相似文献

Lemhi Russet, a new oblong, russet-skinned potato variety, was released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural Experiment Stations of Idaho, Oregon, California, Washington, and North Dakota on September 23, 1980. The tubers of Lemhi Russet have been blockier, larger, 6% higher in solids, 50% lower in reducing sugars, and 25% higher in vitamin C than those of Russet Burbank. Lemhi Russet has averaged 34% more U.S. No. 1 tubers than Russet Burbank in 6 years of trials in five states. It was superior to Norgold Russet in yield and specific gravity in early harvest trials. In pilot plant and laboratory trials, Lemhi Russet made excellent french fries, baked well with a mealy texture, but sloughed when boiled. Lemhi Russet has a high degree of resistance to scab and net necrosis, but is susceptible to potato viruses S, X, Y, and to the leafroll virus. It is also susceptible to bruising and blackspot.  相似文献

Belchip, a round white, widely adapted potato variety, especially useful for chips, was released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Agricultural Experiment Stations of Florida, New Jersey, and Maine, and the Virginia Truck and Ornamental Research Station, Norfolk in 1978. Belchip is immune to viruses A and X and tuber net necrosis caused by the leaf roll virus; highly resistant to race O of late blight and tuber necrosis caused by high soil temperatures; and has not shown unusual susceptibility to other major potato diseases. Maturity is about 5 days later than Atlantic. Tubers of Belchip are flat round in shape with shallow eyes. Tubers may be irregular in conformation under nitrogen deficiency and water stress. Total solids content ranges from 18 percent in Florida to 23 percent in Maine. Chips made from Belchip were lighter in color than those processed from varieties currently grown along the Atlantic Seaboard. Belchip reconditions readily in 2–3 weeks from 4°C (39°F) storage.  相似文献

Ivory Crisp was released in 2002 by the experiment stations of Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and North Dakota, and by the USDA/ARS. It resulted from a 1980 cross of ND292-1 and A77268-4. Ivory Crisp is suited for use in both the direct delivery and storage chipping markets. Ivory Crisp is a medium-maturing potato variety with round, white tubers and excellent chipping quality. It has medium to high yield potential, high tuber solids, resistance to most internal and external tuber defects, and the ability to chip from cold storage. In trials in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, total and U.S. No. 1 tuber yield of Ivory Crisp was similar to Atlantic but lower than Chipeta. Yield of tubers in the size range 113–336 g for Ivory Crisp is higher than for either Atlantic or Chipeta. Ivory Crisp is resistant to growth cracks, secondary growth, hollow heart, and stem-end necrosis, but susceptible to shatter bruise. Tuber sugar content has consistently remained low following cold storage and near-acceptable chip color retained at 4.4 C. Ivory Crisp is susceptible or moderately susceptible to most common field diseases of potato. It is highly susceptible to common scab, powdery scab, and pink rot. Tubers of Ivory Crisp have dry matter content (22.4%) lower than those of Atlantic, but higher than those of Chipeta. Glycoalkaloid content of Ivory Crisp tubers is very low (4.3 mg 100 g-1). An application for Plant Variety Protection has been filed for Ivory Crisp. Seed is available from potato seed growers in Idaho, North Dakota, and Canada. Small amounts of seed, for research purposes, can be obtained by contacting the corresponding author.  相似文献

Shurchip is a slightly russeted, round to oblong chipping variety of medium maturity. It is resistaant to common scab (Streptomyces scabies) and tolerant to Fusarium (F. solani var. eumartii) and Verticillium (microsclerotial type) wilts. The vines are susceptible and the tubers are highly susceptible to late blight. In Nebraska, Shurchip is high yielding, moderately high in specific gravity, lower in reducing sugars and of good to excellent chipping quality when compared with the standard varieties Haig, Kennebec and Platte. The yield and specific gravity obtained with Shurchip in the 12 states in the North Central Regional Trials and in Texas and Alabama were equal to or greater than those obtained with the standard chipping varieties in the trials.  相似文献

TheMaineChip potato variety is medium-maturing and has round, whiteskinned, white-fleshed tubers with shallow eyes, high specific gravity and moderate yields. Its major use is expected to be as a storage chipping variety since sugar build-up in storage is slow, and reconditioning is possible. This variety can be chipped directly from 7 C storage.MaineChip does not show the net necrosis caused by potato leafroll virus and is moderately tolerant to verticillium wilt (Verticillium alboatrum) and rhizoctonia (Rhizoctonia solani). It is also moderately resistant to blackspot and shatter bruise. Hollow heart is its major internal quality defect, being a problem in ten of the twenty-nine regional tests conducted over five years.  相似文献

OAC Ruby Gold is a new potato cultivar with red skin and yellow flesh. Tubers are oblong in shape. When evaluated over three years at three sites in Ontario, it had higher specific gravity and culinary quality than Chieftain. OAC Ruby Gold has the same maturity and slightly lower yield than Chieftain. It is recommended for fresh market use in Ontario.  相似文献

Trent is a medium-early maturing, white-skinned potato variety with high specific gravity and very good table and processing quality. In Ontario, its yield is lower than that of Kennebec. It is moderately resistant to common scab and Rhizoctonia sclerotia.  相似文献
