ABSTRACT

Most composters in the United States use open-windrows. During high intensity precipitation events, uncontained water running off of the surface of the compost piles can potentially contaminate surface waters with nutrients and metals. Water that is absorbed poses no runoff concern but may threaten groundwater quality. To gain insight into these processes, stormwater runoff fractions and water holding capacity of compost piles have been characterized for greenwaste (GW) and biosolids (BS) materials. Laboratory scale experiments were conducted using days 1, 7, and 14 materials representing three different stages of composting. This study also evaluated sloped and flat-top as different pile geometries and surfactant use for promoting infiltration. Results indicate that fresh materials were most hydrophobic and the infiltration rates increased with increased composting times. The water storage capacity of the compost pile increased with the age of the compost pile. Compost water storage capacities could not be reliably estimated as the difference between field capacity and as-received water contents.  相似文献

为了探讨功能性菌剂对堆肥化进程的影响,并为加快啤酒厂污泥与鸡粪堆肥化进程和减少臭气提供理论依据,将自制菌剂DF-1接种至啤酒厂污泥与鸡粪的堆体中,以不接种堆体为参照,测定了堆肥化过程中各参数的变化及菌剂DF-1中优势微生物变化情况。结果显示:两个堆体废气中NH3浓度均呈现先上升后下降的变化趋势,H2S浓度则呈现持续下降的变化情形;不接种堆体NH3浓度至堆肥腐熟期仍为0.39 mmol/m3,而接种堆体第10天为1.25 mmol/m3,此后无法检出;不接种堆体中H2S浓度在堆肥第22天仍为0.7 mg/L;而接种菌剂堆体第10天为0.48 mg/L,此后无法检出。接种菌剂DF-1不但能降低堆体水分含量,而且其堆体腐熟期TN含量高于未接种菌剂DF-1的堆体,说明接种菌剂后不但能有效减少臭气,而且有利于堆肥产品后期烘干制粒和优质高效有机肥的产生。菌剂DF-1中优势菌种乳酸乳球菌、热带假丝酵母及绿色木霉在堆肥过程中存在交替演变。  相似文献

秸秆对猪粪静态兼性堆肥无害化和腐熟度的影响   总被引:2,自引:2,他引:0  
为促进猪粪静态兼性堆肥产品无害化和腐熟,通过添加玉米秸秆调控堆体物理结构特性和碳氮比,采用传统自然发酵方式进行为期90d的静态兼性堆肥试验,分别设置纯猪粪处理(P)和秸秆调控处理(PC)研究静态兼性堆肥过程腐熟度指标、粪大肠菌群以及微生物群落结构演变特征。结果表明,秸秆调控增加了堆体孔隙率(提高19.41%),促进氧气向堆体内部扩散,增强了好氧微生物对有机质的降解,降低NH4+-N,可溶性有机氮(dissolved total nitrogen, DTN)等植物毒性物质含量,提升了堆肥腐熟度,两组处理堆肥产品种子发芽指数分别为40.84%(P)和114.60%(PC)。静态兼性堆肥经过30~40 d自然发酵后,粪大肠菌群数量达到卫生安全标准,堆体温度、NH4+-N和有机酸含量均会影响粪大肠杆菌的活性。堆体中微生物以厚壁菌门、放线菌门、变形菌门等与木质纤维素降解相关的菌门为优势菌门,堆体自上而下由好氧菌属演替为厌氧菌属,并形成好氧、兼性、厌氧的微生物分层。秸秆调控增加了堆体的好氧区域,促进和提高了猪粪...  相似文献

为了探讨微生物强化堆肥对生活垃圾好氧堆肥过程及堆肥过程中放线菌群落的影响,在堆肥过程中接种高效细菌复合菌剂和真菌复合菌剂,并以不接种的堆体为对照,对堆肥过程的温度变化和木质纤维素的降解效率进行了测定,并借助于PCR-DGGE方法对堆肥过程中放线菌群落的动态变化和种群多样性进行研究。结果表明:微生物强化堆肥能缩短堆体起爆时间,并能有效提高堆体降温期和二次发酵期的温度;和自然堆肥相比微生物强化堆肥使半纤维素、纤维素和木质素的降解率分别提高8.95%、12.72%和10.13%。DGGE图谱显示:2种堆肥方式的放线菌多样性指数表现出极显著差异,微生物强化堆肥能增加堆体中优势菌群的种类和数量,能有效提高腐熟期的放线菌群落多样性,有利于堆肥腐熟。优势条带测序结果表明:在接种堆肥过程中检测到了放线菌门的棒杆菌属、分支杆菌属、链霉菌属、热孢菌属、迪茨菌属、糖丝菌属和放线菌属。  相似文献

Alternate technologies of compost manufactured from poultry litter (manure) were studied as a means of producing a value-added product for the landscape and nursery industry. Static pile and turned windrow technologies were investigated on a commercial scale with the composting of nearly 300 tons of material. The major difference between the technologies is the amount of energy and labor required. Static pile systems require less energy but more time than windrow turned systems. There was no process advantage found for passively aerated static piles over static piles but costs of passive aeration for pipes and labor were higher than for static piles. Machine turned windrows completed active temperature production within 100 days while portions of both the static and passively aerated piles continued to actively compost past 300 days. Process operational costs and compost quality were similar among the compost methods studied. Production operational cost is driven by the cost of compost ingredients and accounted for 60 to 70% of the cost in the pilot study. Ingredients were poultry litter, wood chips and sawdust. Screened compost was produced at an operational cost of $30 while unscreened compost could be produced for $20 per ton of compost. A production scheme where poultry litter is static pile composted on farms for later transport to regional processing centers appears feasible. This two-part composting procedure will eliminate the transport of raw litter and improve poultry biosecurity. Most likely, a private compost business would provide the expertise, on-farm compost procedures and operate the regional facility.  相似文献

In comparison to traditional windrow composting, in-vessel composting techniques often represent more effective waste management options due to the reduced production of bioaerosols and leachate and the potential for better process control. Chemical processes occurring during the cocomposting of three common wastes (green waste, biosolids and paper processing waste) were studied using the forced aeration, static pile, in-vessel EcoPOD® composting system. Since no turning of the compost occurs within the static piles, spatial differences in the vessel were also monitored. These measurements revealed significant spatial gradients in temperature; however, this did not result in spatial differences in nutrients within the composting vessel. Significant differences in soluble N production were observed during the composting process following the series: green plus paper waste < green waste < green waste plus biosolids. After the active compost phase was over, and the compost was removed from the vessel and matured outside, we demonstrated that covering the compost was essential to preserve compost quality. Our study clearly shows that cocomposting of common waste feedstocks can be used to successfully manipulate the chemistry of the final compost making it suitable for multiple end uses. In addition, our study demonstrated that careful management of the compost maturing phase is also required to maximise quality and minimize pollution.  相似文献

堆肥化处理是有效利用青藏高原高寒牧区牲畜粪便、减轻环境影响的可行途径。本文针对高寒牧区低温和劳动力资源缺乏的问题,研究了一种静态通气方式和保温措施对堆腐效果的影响。静态通气通过埋植于堆体中的通气管实现,而保温通过堆体外的双层塑料膜的温室效应实现。实验结果表明,埋入通气管与翻堆相比可以显著提高堆体内部和堆体外层的温度,有效加快腐熟速度,减少堆腐过程中养分的损失,降低劳动力投入,可以作为高寒牧区替代翻堆的更好通气手段。双层保温膜与单层膜相比能够有效辅助通气管维持堆体高温。堆肥原料中添加磷肥虽然可提高堆腐温度,但同时也增加了堆腐过程中有机质和氮素的损失,需要根据当地实际情况选用。  相似文献

利用接种不同外源微生物进行城市生活垃圾的堆肥试验,研究在堆肥过程中不同形态有机态氮组分的变化规律。结果表明,随着堆肥的进行,全氮与酸水解性氮含量均呈下降的趋势,其中外源微生物处理能加速全氮与酸水解性氮含量的降低,但至堆肥结束时,与不加外源微生物处理相比,并没有引起氮素的损失。氨基酸态氮含量则呈现先降低后增加的趋势,堆肥结束时,外源微生物处理氨基酸态氮含量明显高于不加微生物处理,表明外源微生物处理可促进氨基酸态的形成;酰胺态氮与氨基糖态氮含量有相同的变化趋势,各处理都是在堆肥的升温期、高温期增加,随着堆肥温度的下降而降低,在堆肥的腐熟阶段,则呈现较为平稳的走势。但相对于堆肥的不同时期,由于处理不同,酰胺态氮与氨基糖态氮含量有明显的差异,其中外源微生物处理酰胺态氮含量明显低于不加微生物处理,而氨基糖态氮则相反。  相似文献

Composting trials were undertaken in 1994 – 996 in Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Quebec, to study the feasibility of using crucifer or carrot residues with sawdust or straw for composting. Geotextile covers were tested for their influence on different parameters of the composting process. Two complete composting cycles from fall to summer were monitored. Measurements were taken for compost temperature, moisture, and leachate. Chemical analyses were performed on compost samples. Phytotoxicity tests were done with compost leachate samples. The results indicated that temperatures of covered compost (CC) decreased more slowly during late fall and early winter than non-covered compost (NC). In addition, CC did not freeze to as great a depth during the winter, and warmed earlier and faster than NC in the spring. The moisture content of CC was significantly lower than in NC at the end of both composting cycles. CC had a higher mineral content than NC in both cycles, and the levels of total N, P, K and NO3 were significantly higher for CC in the second cycle. The carbon/nitrogen (C/N) ratio of CC decreased earlier and reached a lower level at the end of the composting cycle. The quantity of leachate from CC was significantly reduced compared to NC in the second cycle. Compost leachate in both treatments showed a high level of phytotoxicity at the beginning of the composting cycle. However, there was no evidence that compost covers influenced the phytotoxicity in leachate throughout the composting cycle. The use of covers could translate into economic or environmental benefits for most composting operations.  相似文献

分别以木屑、药渣、菇渣、砻糠灰作为猪粪堆肥的调理剂,研究其在堆肥过程中温度、含水率、pH、EC和主要营养元素N、P、K的动态变化。结果表明,在整个堆制过程中,4个处理的堆温变化明显呈现出升温期、高温期和降温期3个阶段,其中,木屑处理堆体升温最快,且高温持续时间最长,砻糠灰处理高温持续时间最短;与初始值相比,堆肥后每个处理pH均有所上升,其中菇渣处理上升幅度最大,达0.9个单位;堆制过程中,4个处理有机质总体呈现下降的规律;堆肥后药渣处理的TN和TP含量最高;堆肥后砻糠灰处理的TK含量最高;堆肥后4个处理的pH和EC值都在腐熟堆肥的适宜范围之内,从N+P2O5+K2O总养分和保氮角度来看,应选药渣作调理剂,从提高堆肥TK含量来看,应选砻糠灰作调理剂。  相似文献

以污泥和稻草为原料,采用强制通风静态好氧系统与人工翻堆相结合的模式进行堆肥,测定堆肥过程各阶段纤维素酶、蛋白酶、脲酶、过氧化氢酶、磷酸酶的活性和pH值、全氮、氨态氮、硝态氮、全磷、速效磷、有机质的含量,并进行了相关分析和主成分分析。结果表明,堆体内不同高度的温度有着不同的变化趋势,堆肥初始阶段,堆体中层温度高于上层温度,随后上层温度逐渐高于中层温度。经过40d的堆肥化处理,堆肥产品达到腐熟标准,生物酶活性与堆肥理化因子呈现较好的相关性,说明生物酶活性可以表征堆肥肥力状况,生物酶活性还可以用来指示堆肥碳、氮、磷素转化情况,主成分分析显示脲酶、酸性、碱性和中性磷酸酶4类酶的活性在评价堆肥肥力中起主要作用。因此,生物酶活性可以作为堆肥肥力指标。  相似文献

利用香蕉茎秆与鸡粪为底料进行了C/N分别为15.2、21.5、25.5、31.8、41.5的堆肥对比试验,定量化研究了堆肥过程中堆体的温度、水分、pH和EC、全碳、全氮及C/N、养分有效含量随时间的变化规律。结果表明,堆体初始C/N在20~40范围内,均能成功地进行好氧堆肥。当C/N低于15.2时,堆体温度上升快,但高温持续时间短,pH高,水溶性盐分的含量高,有机质和总养分含量较低,而且由于加入鸡粪太多,增加了堆肥的成本;当C/N大于41.5时,堆体温度上升慢,进入高温期所需时间长,堆体含水率过高。综合考虑各方面因素,堆肥初始C/N控制在20~30为宜,以25.5为最佳;腐熟期为27d左右,对应适宜的C/N判断值为18。  相似文献

The decomposition of organic matter of source-separated biowaste during composting was followed during 18 months. Compost samples were fractionated into three parts: (i) hot water soluble extract (HWE) (ii) bitumen fraction and (iii) humic substances (humic acids (HA) and fulvic acids (FA)). Original compost samples and the HA and FA fractions were hydrolyzed with sulfuric acid for hexoses and pentoses. Quantitative spectrophotometric and qualitative GC/MS analyses of monosaccharides as trimethylsilyl ethers of the corresponding alditols were carried out.

During composting, the amount of HA in the organic matter of the compost increased, the amounts of HWE and bitumen decreased and the amount of the FA fraction changed only a little. Carbohydrates were found to be important constituents of biowaste composts and their HA and FA fractions. Elemental analysis (C, N and H) of compost and HA samples showed an increase in the C:H ratio and in unsaturation of compounds during composting. The decrease in the C:N ratio was marginal.

The amounts of hexoses and pentoses in original compost samples and the HA and FA fractions decreased during composting. The sugar alcohols erythritol, xylitol, L-arabitol, ribitol, L-rhamnitol, L-fucitol, D-mannitol, D-glucitol and galactitol were identified in both the HA and FA fractions. 2-Deoxy-D-erythro-pentitol was identified in one HA fraction and inositol in two FA fractions. An analysis of gas chromatographic data for relative abundances showed that, in every sample except one and in every stage of composting D-glucitol was the main sugar alcohol. In general, the relative amount of D-glucitol decreased during composting, while the relative amounts of all other sugar alcohols increased.

As chemical indicators of compost maturity, carbohydrates would appear to be a important group of compounds. Most informative as a general indicator would be the ratio of the amount of HA to the amount of organic matter in the total compost samples.

According to our studies, the carbohydrates in composts are covalently bound to the structures of FA and HA. Carbohydrate determination clearly deserves more attention in the structural elucidation of FA and HA.  相似文献

The changes in population size of different microbial groups (total aerobic heterotrophs, actinomycetes, fungi, fecal coliforms, ammonium- and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria, and denitrifying bacteria) and the activities of 19 different enzymes (three phosphatases, three esterases, two proteases, three amino-peptidases, and eight glycosyl-hydrolases) were examined during cocomposting of poultry litter (a mixture of poultry manure, waste feed, feathers, and wood shavings) and yard trimmings (a mixture of grass clippings, leaves, and wood barks). Three piles with forced aeration were established by mixing 2:1 (v/v) ratio of poultry litter and yard trimmings. During composting, samples were taken at three different locations (top, middle, and bottom) of the forced aeration piles for microbial and enzyme analyses. Results demonstrated that population size of different microbial groups was not a limiting factor in this composting process as the microorganisms in the poultry litter + yard trimmings compost are in great abundance. Although the numbers of these microbial groups were reduced by high temperature, their populations multiplied rapidly as composting progressed. Fecal coliforms were eliminated by day 49, suggesting that the poultry litter + yard trimmings compost showed an overall increase in diversity and relative abundance of extracellular enzymes present as composting progressed. The population of fungi and actinomycetes (microorganisms active in degradation of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin) were positively correlated with esterase, valine amino-peptidase, α-galactosidase, β-glucosidase, and lipase. Of all 19 enzymes examined, ß-galactosidase (enzyme involved in the hydrolysis of lactose) had the most significant positive correlation with microbial populations, such as total aerobic heterotrophs, ammonium- and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria, denitrifying bacteria, and fecal coliforms. Cystine amino peptidase, chymotrypsin, and trypsin showed no evidence of activity during the entire period of composting. This composting process represented a combined activity of a wide succession of environments in the compost pile as one microbial group/enzyme overlapped the other and each emerged gradually as a result of the continual change in temperature as well as moisture content, O2 and CO2 level, and progressive breakdown of complex compounds to simpler ones.  相似文献

Effluent pollutant concentrations and volumes were collected from uncovered, intact carcass, dairy cow mortality compost piles subjected to successive simulated 10.2 cm storm events after: (1) composting one cow in fresh sawdust only; (2) turning that pile, adding fresh amendment, adding a second cow, and composting it; and (3) turning the pile again, without an animal tissue addition. Phosphorus leaving an active mortality compost pile in runoff as produced by a 10.2 cm storm simulation ranged from 4.6 grams to 0.1 grams. Total COD in runoff ranged from 94 to 888 grams. Data indicated that the majority of nutrients in effluent leaving a pile from a 10.2 cm storm event infiltrate the soil surface. Total nitrogen mass load infiltrating the soil was estimated to range between 362 and 1778 grams under various management stages. With the exception of NO3, the nutrient concentrations in groundwater at 1.2 m soil profile depth were reduced by nine fold or more when compared to direct pile effluent, indicating that soil provided treatment of infiltrating pile effluent. No significant accumulation of soil nutrients below mortality compost piles occurred during the study. However, pile effluent nutrient characteristics indicate that soil nutrient accumulation may occur over time.  相似文献

为了研究添加生物质炭对蔬菜废弃物堆肥化处理过程中氮素转化特征的影响,分析堆肥过程中氮素的转化及损失规律,用西红柿茎蔓、玉米秸秆和猪粪按一定比例混合后添加不同比例的生物质炭,进行了为期30 d的堆肥发酵试验。结果表明,添加生物质炭能够提高堆体温度,使堆体快速进入高温期,延长高温持续时间,可降低挥发性氨的累积释放量,减少堆肥过程中的氮素损失,从而提高堆肥产品全氮的含量,并可促进堆肥后期NH+4-N向NO-3-N转化,提高非酸水解态氮的含量。添加生物质炭有利于堆肥的腐熟,在堆肥第18 d添加较高比例的生物质炭的处理其NH+4-N/NO-3-N≤0.5,堆肥产品达到腐熟。综合保氮和腐熟效果,蔬菜废弃物在堆肥化过程中以添加10%的生物质炭为最佳。  相似文献

Stabilization of the organic matter of a static pile of compost from municipal solid wastes (MSW) under a forced-pressure ventilation composting system was followed for 55 days during winter season. The materials were analyzed according to the official methodologies required by Italian regulations regarding the quality of composts from MSW. The stabilization process of the organic matter was monitored using both the degree of humification (DH), i.e. the ratio between the humified fractions (HA + FA) and the total extractable carbon (TEC), and the electrofocusing technique (EF). The DH increased steadily in compost during stabilization process and converged asymptotically at the end of the period of composting. The EF analyses of the organic extracts of compost from MSW showed a definite trend in the humification process and confirmed the actual evolution of the organic matter composted.  相似文献

塑料污染已对全球环境造成严重威胁,生物降解塑料的推广使用及其工业堆肥是治理塑料污染的有效途径之一。该研究根据GB/T 19277.1-2011,在(58±2)℃的特殊高温条件下,对PBAT-PLA生物降解膜袋进行有氧堆肥降解,并选择微晶纤维素作为对照。通过对堆肥中的微生物进行16S/18S高通量测序,分析降解过程中细菌/真菌的群落种类和数量变化,包括物种多样性、物种组成、物种差异分析、样本比较分析,并结合扫描电镜下的微观形貌,深入探寻可降解塑料膜袋在工业需氧堆肥过程中的微生物响应降解机制。结果表明:微晶纤维素和生物降解膜袋在降解活跃期(第140天取样),其所在堆肥中大量存在的优势菌属为Sphaerobacter(球杆菌属,放线菌纲),分别占比20.25%和39.44%。与同样条件下不含降解材料的对照组堆肥相比,微晶纤维素/生物降解膜袋工业需氧堆肥降解过程中显著增长的4种菌属中有3种属于放线菌,说明放线菌对聚酯物的解聚以及纤维素的降解具有积极的作用。试验结果也表明了聚酯和纤维素的完整生物降解过程不依赖单一菌种,而是微生物协同作用的结果。  相似文献

为明确堆肥过程中温室气体和氨气排放规律以及产生的总温室效应,在云南省大理州开展堆肥试验,并以奶牛粪便为试验材料,研究了农民堆肥(FC)、覆盖堆肥(CC)、覆盖-翻堆堆肥(CTC)和覆盖通风-翻堆堆肥(CATC)4种堆肥方式对温室气体和氨气排放的影响。结果表明:覆盖通风-翻堆堆肥(CATC)可提高堆肥腐熟度,有效降低CH4和N_2O排放,但并没降低CO2和NH_3排放;与农民堆肥(FC)相比,覆盖堆肥(CC)的CH4排放量增加了48.7%,而N2_O和NH3排放量与农民堆肥(FC)基本一致;覆盖-翻堆堆肥(CTC)虽然提高了腐熟度,但CH_4、CO_2和NH_3排放量较大;堆肥结束时,4个处理的总温室效应分别为25.6、32.9、38.1及18.0 kg/t;温度与CH_4、CO_2、N_2O和NH_3排放速率均极显著相关,pH值显著影响N_2O和NH_3的排放。因此,覆盖通风-翻堆堆肥(CATC)不仅能够满足堆肥产品的腐熟度要求,而且能够减少总温室效应,再加上其操作简便,能够在生产中推广应用。  相似文献

Composting could be used in the pulp and paper industry to treat primary sludges as an alternative to landfilling. The objective of this project was to compost and evaluate a pulp and paper sludge for use as a soil amendment/mulch. Primary sludge, tailings, wood ash (0, 5 or 10 percent by volume), and paunch (cattle stomach contents and tissue) from a slaughterhouse were composted in a 91 m windrow that was turned one to two times per week. The pile moisture content and temperature were controlled at 50 percent and 57–63°C during 14 weeks of composting. The compost was then cured for 4 weeks for a total treatment time of 18 weeks. Sludge dry mass decreased by approximately 50 percent, pH increased slightly to 8.2 to 8.5, and carbon-nitrogen ratio decreased from 270:1 to 14–67:1 after composting and curing. Electrical conductivity of all final composts was over 4 dS/m. Shoot biomass of tomato plants grown in a compost-amended medium (50 percent compost, 25 percent sand, 25 percent perlite by volume) improved with composting time but was still only 35–65 percent that of plants grown in a peat moss-amended medium (control). Shoot weight and height of poplar plants grown in soil amended with aged compost were unaffected by compost application rate (incorporated or as a mulch) at less than or equal to 180 Mg/ha. In summary, this study demonstrated that a pulp and paper sludge and wood ash mixture yielded a compost that could be used as a low quality mulch or soil amendment for poplar.  相似文献
