Take-all (Gaeumannomyces graminis [Sacc.] Arx & Olivier) infection was measured over 7 years (1968–1974) in a long-term tillage experiment involving deep and shallow ploughing, tined cultivation, no-tillage and 4 rates of N. Average infection increased from 4% to 15% and 9% to 35% over the 7 years for June and August samplings respectively. The severity of infection was light and did not change over the years. Increasing N rate consistently reduced infection. In the early years, shallow ploughing and tined cultivation gave greater infection than deep ploughing and no-tillage. In the last 2 years infection levels were the same for all 4 tillage treatments in both June and August, except that in August the no-tillage system continued to show a much lower incidence of infection. The take-all appeared to have little effect on yield because the relative yields from the different tillage treatments did not change with the change in relative degree of infection. Lack of take-all decline was possibly due to the relatively low incidence and severity of infection.  相似文献

Biological characteristics of the varieties of Gaeumannomyces graminis Arx & Olivier and Phialophora radicicola Cain are reviewed. They include: 1) pathogenicity to roots of cereals; 2) growth on living stem tissues; 3) type of fungal growth-cessation structure formed on or in the host. Together, these provide a simple means of characterizing isolates and standard methods for assessing them are presented.
The role of pigmented cells and tissues (growth-cessation structures) in host penetration is questioned, since they are seldom associated with a progressive infection by G. graminis or P. radicicola . However, they are a taxonomic aid, especially as they are now known to form on cellophane overlying agar.
New evidence is presented on factors affecting conidiation by these fungi. Flooding colonies with distilled water induced formation of conidia by G. graminis var. tritici Walker, P. radicicola var. radicicola (British isolates but not the type) and P. radicicola var. graminicola Deacon, whereas none formed on corresponding unflooded agar plates. Conidia were usually much larger and germinated readily when they formed in response to flooding; many of these fungi therefore have 2 conidial types, distinct in both morphology and behaviour. Preliminary results suggest that biotin and the form of nitrogen also affect the type of conidium formed by P. radicicola var. radicicola .  相似文献

Populations of the cereal cyst-nematode decrease when cereals are grown frequently or continuously because the females that develop on the roots between May and July fail to produce eggs, or produce a smaller number than expected. Consequently, cysts in the soil after harvest are fewer and contain fewer eggs. The role of fungal parasites and competitors in limiting populations of cyst-nematodes is reviewed. Parasites of eggs and females of Heterodera avenae Woll. were widespread in British cereal fields, an Entomophthora-like fungus and Verticillium chlamydosporium Barron & Onions being the most common species found. Although fungal parasites may be the cause of the failure of the nematode to increase, it has not yet been established unequivocally.  相似文献

More than 20000 wheat plants, derived from callus culture of immature wheat embryos were assessed for reaction to the take-all fungus ( Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici ) using a test-tube assay. Lines with less root and shoot blackening and more remaining green tissue than parental lines were identified in the SC3 generation. However these lines had more root and shoot blackening and less remaining green tissue in subsequent generations. The changes in reaction to the fungus may therefore have been epigenetic. The potential of this tissue culture derived material for breeding take-all resistant wheats is discussed.  相似文献

Cold tolerant isolates of Gaeumannomyces graminis var. graminis ( Ggg ) and Phialophora sp. (lobed hyphopodia), which produced at least comparable growth rates at 5°C to those of pathogenic G. graminis var. tritici ( Ggt ), were shown to control take-all disease in wheat effectively in 2 years of field experiments in New South Wales, Australia. The addition of oat inoculum of these fungi at the rate of 60 kg/ha to the seeding furrow significantly ( P  ≤ 0.05) reduced disease and increased grain yields by 33–45% compared to the Ggt alone treatment. The use of 30 kg/ha of oat inoculum also significantly ( P  ≤ 0.05) reduced disease and increased grain yields by 21–44%. These high levels of take-all control were obtained consistently from four field experiments on three different soil types with different pHs. A treatment inoculated with Ggg alone showed no disease symptoms and produced grain yields similar to that of untreated wheat. This fungus is, therefore, non-pathogenic to wheat. At high rates of inoculation of Ggg and Phialophora sp. (lobed hyphopodia), 65–80% of tillering wheat plants (GS 32) had root systems colonized by these fungi. In contrast, two Pseudomonas spp. and an isolate each of Ggg and Phialophora sp. (lobed hyphopodia), which did not grow at 5°C, were ineffective in controlling take-all. Take-all assessments during heading (GS 61-83) were highly correlated ( R 2=0.6047, P ≤0.0005) with the relative yield increase or decrease of inoculated treatments compared to the Ggt alone treatment. The use of a Ggg isolate (90/3B) and a Phialophora sp. (lobed hyphopodia) isolate (KY) for take-all control has been patented. These fungi are being developed for commercial use.  相似文献

为了研究新型吡唑-3-甲酸酯类化合物HNNK-1对小麦全蚀病的防治效果,采用菌丝生长速率法测定了其对小麦全蚀病菌的毒力;并通过拌种处理在温室和田间测定了其对小麦全蚀病的防治效果;同时观察了HNNK-1拌种对小麦生长的影响。菌丝生长速率法测定结果表明,HNNK-1对小麦全蚀病菌的EC50为0.28 mg/L,低于硅噻菌胺的EC50(0.58 mg/L);盆栽试验结果表明,用50 g/L HNNK-1 SC拌种(药种质量比1∶3 000)后对小麦全蚀病的防效为60.10%;对小麦株高、根长等生长指标无显著影响。田间药效试验表明,用50 g/L HNNK-1 SC拌种(药种质量比1∶3 000)对小麦全蚀病的防效为73.13%(开封)和71.15%(周口)。HNNK-1可以有效控制田间小麦全蚀病发生和危害。  相似文献

Two field experiments, in 1999 and 2000, were used to test whether reductions in root growth and function explained the effects of take-all on crop water and nitrogen uptake. The fungicide silthiofam was used to manipulate take-all independently of other factors. Soil water content was manipulated from heading to determine effects on disease progress and resource capture. Epidemic progress was significantly delayed in the presence of silthiofam, leading to reductions in disease in both experiments. Effects of silthiofam were reduced by increasing soil water late in the season, although only in 2000 did increased soil water content have a direct effect, leading to a higher rate of disease increase. Higher levels of disease in the absence of silthiofam did not affect root growth as measured by total root length density (TRLD), but did lead to significantly reduced healthy root length density (HRLD, a measure of functional roots) in both experiments. Only in 2000 were there any significant effects of increased take-all on water and nitrogen uptake. This was attributed to the higher TRLD in the (1999) crop, which allowed HRLDs to be maintained above a critical threshold (where water and nitrogen uptake start to be severely affected) despite loss of functional root to disease. The effects of take-all on nitrogen uptake were more likely to affect crop canopy size and duration than the relatively small effects observed on water uptake. Increasing soil water content allowed the crop to take up more water in absolute terms despite, in 2000, increasing levels of disease and reducing HRLD.  相似文献

由禾顶囊壳小麦变种Gaeumannomyces graminis var.tritici引起的小麦全蚀病是危害极大的小麦土传真菌病害。本研究以小麦全蚀病菌β-tubulin为靶标基因设计重组酶聚合酶扩增技术(recombinase polymerase amplification,RPA)引物Gg-RPA-F/Gg-RPA-R和RPA探针Gg-LF-Probe,结合侧流层析试纸条,建立了小麦全蚀病菌RPA快速检测方法,该方法在38℃恒温条件下30 min内完成可视化检测,摆脱PCR仪等仪器设备的限制。小麦全蚀病菌RPA快速检测方法具有较高的检测特异性,其检测极限为10 pg/μL,与普通PCR一致。此外,小麦全蚀病菌RPA快速检测方法可从土壤中快速检测到小麦全蚀病菌,具有较强的实用性。因此,本研究建立的小麦全蚀病菌RPA快速检测方法具备简便高效、实用性强的特点,为小麦全蚀病菌的快速检测和病害早期诊断提供新技术。  相似文献

The host ranges of some British populations of cyst nematodes from cereals and grasses have been studied. The nematodes were isolated from agricultural and natural habitats. Their morphology corresponded to the Heterodera avenaeImani type, to ≪ pathotype 3 ≫, or to the H. hordecalisIlatipons type. The host series included barley, oats and wheat, some of which were known to be resistant to H. avenae pathotypes, and agricultural and wild grasses. Many of the H. avenae-resistant cereals were susceptible to pathotype 3 and to a population resembling H. avenae I mani, which had a very wide host range including grasses. The population of H. hordecalis, collected from grasses, also overcame the resistance of gene Rha2. Two populations of H. mani reproduced to a limited extent on cereals, and showed a clear preference for grass hosts. A third H. mani population reproduced only on grasses. The results draw attention to some problems in conducting and interpreting tests with many different hosts and nematodes. They reinforce the view that these gramineous cyst nematodes are a species complex, with variations in host range, as well as in morphology and biology.  相似文献

Phialophora graminicola and Phialophora sp. (lobed hyphopodia) are weakly or not pathogenic to the cereal and grass roots which they colonize and are also known to restrict the infection of these plants by Gaeumannomyces graminis. The occurrence of these fungi under 15 field-grown grass species has been studied using wheat as the test plant. P. graminicola occurred under all grass species tested but at different population levels. The lowest populations were found under Bromus erectus and B. inermis, and relatively low populations under Agrostis alba, Festuca ovina and Phalaris arundinacea. Festuca pratensis, F. rubra, F. arundinacea, Dactylis glomerata and Arrhenatherum elatius harboured the highest populations of P. graminicola. Phialophora sp. (lobed hyphopodia) was found at low population levels under 7 of the 15 grasses examined. The strains of P. graminicola isolated in these studies differed markedly in growth rate on wheat roots and in restriction of G. graminis on wheat grown in perlite (preliminary results).  相似文献

Eight new sterol biosynthesis-inhibiting fungicides, structurally related to penconazole and having vapour pressures up to 118 mPa, were synthesised. Their toxicities to the cereal take-all fungus, Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici, on agar were measured; intrinsic activities were measured after incorporating the compounds into the agar and vapour activities were measured after their evaporation from glass and from moist soil. Vapour activity following evaporation from soil was shown to be a function of both the intrinsic activity of the compound and its partition coefficient between the air and moist soil (Kas). The latter is itself a function of vapour pressure, 1-octanol/water partition coefficient (Kow) and the soil type. The compound most active as vapour from soil in the in-vitro test, 1-(pyridin-3-yl)-2-(4-flurorophenyl)pentane, was ineffective against take-all in wheat in a pot test in which the inoculated soil was treated unevenly, providing further evidence that the redistribution of fungicides in moist soil occurs predominantly via the water phase rather than the vapour phase.  相似文献

The effects of various crops on the saprophytic survival and carry-over of Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici were studied in the glasshouse and field.
In the glasshouse, survival of G. g. tritici was greater in unplanted pots than in pots planted with either cereals or non-cereals. In the field, fallow and various non-cereal crops reduced carryover of take-all but the disease was severe after wheat, barley and triticale. pH is one of the major ambient factors affecting life history traits of soilborne phytopathogenic fungi. The diversity of phenotypic responses to pH changes has not been extensively explored within fungal populations. To investigate this question, the ability of 82 strains of a worldwide collection of the take‐all agent Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici (Ggt) to grow in controlled pH conditions, reflecting their pH sensitivity, was measured. Of these 82 strains, 37 belonged to the G1 type and 45 to the G2 type, the two main genetic groups identified in Ggt populations. The experiments were conducted in Petri dishes on Fahraeus solid media buffered at pH 4·6, 6·0 or 7·0 with citrate–disodium phosphate solutions. The 82 strains exhibited a wide range of hyphal growth rates at the three pH levels. Ten statistically different pH profiles were described. The G2 strains grew significantly better than the G1 on the slightly acidic (pH 6·0) and the neutral (pH 7·0) buffered media. The ability of three strains to change ambient pH was also measured on unbuffered Fahraeus solid media initially adjusted to pH 5·6 or 8·0. All three strains were able to alkalinize the acidic medium. However, important variations between strains in the intensity, range and persistence of this alkalinization were measured. These results provide the first evidence of intraspecific variability in pH sensitivity within soilborne fungal species.  相似文献

The results of 21 winter wheat and 32 spring barley trials done in the United Kingdom showed that cultivars differed significantly in their yield response to a standard fungicide treatment. Regression analyses showed that yield responses were significantly related to disease reduction, particularly that of mildew, although the proportion of variance accounted for was small. Measurements made on seven winter wheat trials indicated that the percentage of leaf area remaining green after anthesis was increased by the fungicide treatment to a greater extent than could be attributed to disease reduction alone. In some of these trials, yield responses were more closely correlated with the increase in leaf area remaining green than with disease reduction.  相似文献

采用甘蔗蛴螬残留虫口数和蔗根受害率的相对防效为指标,从蛴螬和甘蔗两个角度评价布氏白僵菌[Beauveria brongniartii (Sacc.) Petch]对甘蔗蛴螬的防治效果。结果表明,5月底6月初结合甘蔗大培土,布氏白僵菌粉剂单一施用及其与3.6%杀虫双颗粒剂混合施用,均可不同程度降低蔗田蛴螬虫量和蔗根受害率。布氏白僵菌粉剂单一施用时,以30.00 kg/hm2制剂用量的防效为最高,蔗田蛴螬残留虫口数和蔗根受害率的相对防效分别为67.27%和74.56%。两剂混合施用相对防效分别为74.55%~85.45%和78.18%~85.94%,其中以剂量为(22.50+45.00)kg/hm2的布氏白僵菌粉剂+3.6%杀虫双颗粒剂混合施用较为理想。  相似文献
