The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of some immunostimulants and probiotics on the survival rate, final weight, and disease resistance of overwintered tilapia fry. There were five treatments: T1 (control) fed a balanced diet (35% protein) without additives. Treatments 2 to 5 were fed diets supplemented with 4% garlic, 4 g/kg Echinacea, 4 g/kg Organic Green or 4 g/kg Vet-Yeast, respectively. Growth and resistance to disease challenge with Aeromonas hydrophila and Pseudomonas flourescens were not different among treatments, but survival of overwintered fry increased in treatments fed probiotics or immunostimulents. The use of garlic in overwintering feeds could allow hatchery operators to increase their prices for fry and fish farmers to stock production ponds earlier, increasing hatchery revenues by 74% and improving land use efficiency and productivity for the Egyptian aquaculture industry.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A 30-day experiment was conducted to assess the effect of tryptophan-supplemented diets on growth and survival of Pabda, Ompok bimaculatus fry. Fifty pabda fry (0.114 ± 0.02 g; 2.45 ± 0.13 cm) were stocked into each aerated aquarium following a completely randomized design consisting of four treatments with triplicate each. Four iso-proteinious purified diets were prepared with different levels of tryptophan—0%, 1%, 2%, and 3%—of the dry diet and were designated as Control, TRP1, TRP2, and TRP3 respectively. Fishes were fed with the experimental diet ad libitum four times a day. The results showed that fish fed with tryptophan-supplemented diets exhibited significantly (P < 0.05) lower cannibalism and higher survival than the control diet. Further, the tryptophan-supplemented groups showed a significantly lower coefficient of variation (%) and size heterogeneity (P < 0.05). However, the growth as measured by body weight gain, length increment, and specific growth rate of fry in tryptophan-supplemented groups was significantly lower than the control group (P < 0.05). Moreover, maximum survival (52.67 ± 1.76%) and minimum cannibalism (21.33 ± 5.70%) coupled with higher growth and performance index (0.38 ± 0.01) were recorded in the 2% tryptophan-supplemented group compared to other tryptophan-fed groups. Overall interpretation from the present study concludes that the dietary supplementation of 2% tryptophan is recommended for better survival of pabda fish, although growth was compromised.  相似文献

Different stages of an Indian major carp, Cirrhina mrigala (Hamilton), i.e. hatchling, fry and fingerling, were fed diets supplemented with 3,5,3′-triiodothyronine (T3) at doses of 0, 1, 5 and 10 mg kg?1 diet for 60 days, and then reared on a hormone-free diet for 120 days to study the growth performance of fish during the treatment period (TP) and post-treatment period (PTP). Oral administration of T3 at all the stages resulted in a significantly higher specific growth rate (SGR) and better food conversion ratio (FCR) in comparison to the control group (P<0.05). However, the growth response of C. mrigala towards T3 administration appeared to be stage-specific. At the end of the experimental period of 180days (60days TP+120days PTP), the optimum dosage of T3 appeared to be 5.0 mg kg?1 diet for both hatchlings and fry, and 1.0 mg kg?1 diet for fingerlings, resulting in 62.08%, 30.22% and 13.33% higher weights than in the control group, respectively. The cost of hormone for production of 1 kg of fish was lowest in the case of hatchlings (Rs 0.54), followed by fry (Rs 7.00) and fingerlings (Rs 16.07). Hence, based on the degree of growth response of the fish towards T3 administration in addition to its economics, only incorporation of T3 in the diet of hatchlings appeared to be economical.  相似文献

The effects of culture density on growth and survival of juvenile cuttlefish were tested. Groups of 1, 3 and 5 hatchlings were placed in small containers with bottom surface of 80 cm2, obtaining individual densities of 125, 375 and 625 cuttlefish m–2, respectively. Additionally, groups of 5 hatchlings were placed in containers with 2 different bottom areas (80 and 240 cm2), providing culture densities of 625 and 42 cuttlefish m–2, respectively. A total of 120 hatchlings were used and experiments lasted for 40 days. No differences were found in growth between any of the densities tested throughout the experiment until 35 days old. After this, cuttlefish placed in isolation grew significantly larger. A second experiment was conducted in a flow through system, using two rectangular tanks with bottom surface of 0.5 m2. Two groups of 25 cuttlefish hatchlings were used in this experiment, which lasted for 40 days. Both groups were fed live juvenile shrimp (Crangon crangon) during the first 5 days. Afterwards, one group was fed live fish fry of different species, while the other continued to be fed shrimp. After day 10 and until the end of the experiment, hatchlings fed shrimp grew significantly larger than those fed fish fry. Survival of hatchlings fed shrimp or fish fry after 40 days was of 100% and 68%, respectively. Total protein content of both prey types was similar. Therefore, the higher polar lipid content, especially due to the higher phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine levels observed in the shrimp, compared to fish fry could possibly be one of the major factor to explain the significantly higher growth rates for S. officinalis juveniles fed shrimp. Also, the percentage of polar lipids in the shrimp (47.4%) was closer to the one of juvenile cuttlefish (38.1%) than the composition of polar lipids in fish fry (10.4%). This could also be an important factor to explain the poor growth and survival obtained when feeding fish fry to the cuttlefish.  相似文献

A 40 days feeding trial with Labeo rohita (rohu) fry was conducted in six outdoor cemented tanks (5m × 4m × 1 m; 6–8 cm soil base) to establish the relative impact of on‐farm grown live Wolffia globosa (a duckweed with crude protein of 28.57%) and a formulated iso‐nitrogenous feed (crude protein 28.37%) on growth performance, survival, health and overall quality of fingerlings. The experimental tanks were dried, limed at 250 kg/ha, filled with ground water and subsequently applied with cow dung (soaked overnight) and mustard oil cake at 1,000 kg/ha and 50 kg/ha respectively. The fry were stocked at 0.3 millions/ha in six prepared tanks, and fed live Wolffia (T1) and formulated feed (T2). Results of the study indicate better performance (p < 0.05) of fry in terms of final mean weight (7.83 g), length (8.82 cm), daily growth index (6.51 g %/day) and survival (89.5%) than those fed on formulated feed. Furthermore, significantly improved (p < 0.05) feed utilization parameters viz. apparent feed conversion ratio (AFCR), apparent protein conversion efficiency (APCE), apparent protein efficiency ratio (APER); haematological parameters viz. total erythrocyte count (TEC), total leucocyte count (TLC), packed cell volume (PCV), plasma glucose and protein of fry were also observed in T1 (live Wolffia). Overall findings from this study hints towards the possible utilization of on‐farm grown live Wolffia as a suitable nutrient source for fry rearing of L. rohita.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Little is known regarding the correlation between channel catfish female body weight and relative fecundity and fry production when the females are induced to ovulate with carp pituitary extract and fertilized with blue catfish sperm. A total of 145 female channel catfish were used in the early, middle, and late spawning season. Female body weight of channel catfish had negative correlations with relative fecundity (r = ?0.33 and ?0.25, P < .05; r = ?0.23, P > .05) and before the late spawning season with fry/kg (r = ?0.21, P > .05; r = ?0.30, P < .05). Eggs/kg female body weight and fry/kg female body weight followed a parallel pattern throughout the season, illustrating the logical relationship between relative fecundity and fry output. The size of females used is a consideration to maximize hybrid catfish embryo production during the early and middle spawning season but not late in the spawning season. However, these correlations are relatively small even though significant; thus a dramatic change in fry production would not be predicted. Since reproductive relationships can change during the spawning season, conclusions and recommendations could be flawed if data are not collected periodically during an entire spawning season.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Nursery rearing of an endangered fish, Labeo gonius (Ham.) was studied in relation to varying stocking densities in earthen ponds. The experiment was conducted for 8 weeks in nine nursery ponds having an area of 0.012 ha with an average depth of 1 m. Four-day-old hatchling stocked at 0.6 million/ha was designated as treatment-1 (T1), 0.8 million/ha as treatment-2 (T2) and 1.0 million/ha as treatment-3 (T3), respectively. At stocking, all hatchlings were of same age group with a mean length and weight of 0.66 ± 0.08 cm and 0.001 ± 0.0001 g, respectively. Hatchlings in all the experimental ponds were given wheat flour for the first 7 days, finely ground mustard oilcake for the next 7 days and a mixture of rice bran, and mustard oilcake (1:1) for days 15 to 56. The rate of feeding was 20 kg/million hatchling/day for the first two weeks, 25 kg for the second two weeks, 30 kg for the third two weeks and 35 kg for the fourth two weeks. The physicochemical parameters of water and plankton were monitored simultaneously and were within the acceptable range for fish culture. Growth parameters (final weight, final length, weight gain, length gain and specific growth rate) and survival of fingerlings were significantly higher in T1 (0.6 million hatchling/ha) than those in T2 (0.8 million/ha) and T3 (1.0 million/ha), respectively. Feed conversion ratio (FCR) was significantly lower in T1 followed by T2 and T3 in that order. The estimated gross and net productions of fingerlings were significantly higher in T1 than in T2 and T3, respectively. Significantly higher number of fingerlings was produced in T3 than those in T2 and T1. Despite this, consistently higher net benefits were obtained from T1 than from T3 and T2. Overall, highest growth, survival, production and benefits were obtained from T1 where stocking density of hatchlings was 0.6 million/ha. Hence, of the treatments evaluated, stocking density of 0.6 million hatchling/ha appears to be the most efficient stocking density for rearing of L. gonius fingerlings in earthen nursery ponds.  相似文献

Outbreaks of multidrug-resistant pathogens have been constraint on aquaculture production in Thailand, thereby controlling shrimp pathogens by preventive probiotics being importance to sustain the aquaculture system. In this study, the effect of potential probiotics, Bacillus subtilis and Enterococcus sp. was related to growth, digestive enzyme activities (trypsin and chymotrypsin) and pathogenic resistance by postlarval black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon). The experiment was divided into two treatments, in triplicate, with and without supplementation of probiotics as a food additive. Shrimp fed with probiotics for a culture period of 84 days showed a significant increase (P < 0.05) in weight (2.03 ± 0.29 g) and survival (71.91 ± 3.15 %) in comparison with non-treated shrimp (1.53 ± 0.28 g and 65.20 ± 5.68 %, respectively). Trypsin activity of treated shrimp was significantly higher (P < 0.05) than that of control shrimp whereas chymotrypsin activities of the two treatments were not significantly different (P > 0.05). After challenging P. monodon postlarvae with a shrimp pathogen, Vibrio harveyi for 10 days, percentage of mortality of P. monodon postlarvae fed with probiotics was 46.67 ± 1.44 %, significantly lower (P < 0.05) than that of non-treated shrimp (61.67 ± 6.29 %). This study showed that potential probiotics was appropriate for application in P. monodon postlarvae cultivation under laboratory condition due to improvement of shrimp weight and survival, enhancement of trypsin activity and reduced mortality causing by pathogenic V. harveyi. This is the first publication reported the effect of probiotics on trypsin and chymotrypsin activities of P. monodon postlarvae.  相似文献

Rearing of rohu spawn to fry size was carried out at high density (2000 spawn m?2) in large concrete nursery tanks (10 m × 5 m × 1.2 m) to standardize the daily ration of supplementary feed and to assess the impact of soil base on the fry performance. In Set‐1, supplementary feed was provided at 100% (control), 75% and 50% of the daily ration that is commonly used in earthen carp nursery ponds and named as the three treatments T‐1, T‐2 and T‐3 respectively. Although in Set‐II, performance of fry were evaluated in tanks provided with and without soil base. The fry survival was to the tune of 45–59% at this high density of 2000 spawn m?2, indicating the efficacy of the concrete nursery system for high density seed rearing. In Set‐I, T‐2 receiving 75% of the control ration exhibited similar fry growth as that of T‐1, but its fry survival (58.8%) was 10% higher than the latter. This indicated that supplementary feed in a concrete nursery can be reduced up to 25% of that provided in earthen nursery system while ensuring a higher fry yield. However, further reduction up to 50% of the control ration in T‐3 yielded lower fry survival and growth (P < 0.05) revealing inadequacy of the available feed. In Set‐II, treatment without soil base (T‐ns) yielded similar fry growth but 10% higher survival compared to that with the soil base (T‐s) revealing non‐essentiality of soil base in concrete tanks for such short‐term nursery rearing of rohu.  相似文献

Four hundred and eighty matured yearlings of Clarias gariepinus (Burchell) (female=182±10 g; males=208±5 g) distributed into groups of 30 specimens (sex ratio 1:1) were fed differently heated soybean‐based diets. Seven approximately iso‐nitrogenous (31% crude protein) and iso‐caloric (13.97 kJ g?1) diets were prepared from either raw soybean (SAMSOY 2, TGX 636–02D) or soybean seeds autoclaved for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 min. The untreated and the variously heat‐treated soybean meals were mixed with other ingredients to prepare diets designated as DSoy0, DSoy5, DSoy10, DSoy15, and DSoy20, DSoy25 and DSoy30 according to the treatment time of the soybean portion of the diets, and were fed to the fish broodstocks for 84 days. The fishmeal‐based diet (DFM) served as the reference diet. The duration of heating soybean component of the experimental diet significantly (P<0.05) affected the growth performance and the number of eggs produced by the broodstocks, the percentage number of eggs fertilized and hatched as well as the survival of the progenies. The progenies of the brood fish fed diets DFM and DSoy25 with a yolk sac size of 2.78±0.6 and 2.42±0.5 mm, respectively, had significantly (P<0.05) larger yolk sacs, which were also absorbed at a significantly faster rate of 0.61±0.02 and 0.51±0.03 mm day?1, respectively, than progenies of broodstocks fed other experimental diets. Swim‐up fry survival rates were also better in hatchlings from broodstocks fed DFM (89.5%), DSoy25 (83.8%) and Dsoy 20 (80.5%) diets than progenies from other experimental diets. This study showed that soybean meal portion processed at 116°C and 1.2 kg cm?2 pressure for 25 min in the diet, which ensures normal reproductive function and production of healthy progenies in C. gariepinus, could serve as a substitute for fishmeal in the broodstock diets.  相似文献

The present study was carried out to evaluate the effect of dietary taurine (Tau) on performance, digestive enzymes, antioxidant activity, and resistance of common carp, Cyprinus carpio L., fry to salinity stress. Fish (0.97?±?0.033 g) were fed on different taurine levels of 0.0 (control), 5, 10, 15, or 20 g/kg diet up to satiation twice daily for 8 weeks. At the end of the feeding trial, fish were stressed by exposure to 10 ppt salinity for 3 days during which fish mortality was observed. Fish performance was significantly (P?<?0.05) improved by dietary taurine up to 15 g Tau/kg diet after which fish growth and feed intake were almost the same. Also, taurine supplementation significantly (P?<?0.05) elevated activities of intestinal amylase, lipase, and protease resulting in an improving in feed intake giving better performance. Furthermore, Tau-stimulated antioxidant activity of common carp was observed in a dose-related manner, where activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) were significantly (P?<?0.05) higher, but malondialdehyde (MDA) value was significantly (P?<?0.05) lower in Tau-fed fish groups than those fed the control diet. In salinity stress experiment, highest survival rate was observed at fish fed Tau-supplemented diets without significant (P?>?0.05) differences over fish fed the control diet. It appears that taurine could be used as a feed supplement to confer better growth and health of common carp fry with optimal level of 15 g/kg diet.  相似文献

The present study was conducted to evaluate production management methods to improve overall survival of channel catfish, Ictalurus punctatus, fry to the fingerling stage by incorporating the use of a live, attenuated vaccine against Edwardsiella ictaluri and employing an extended hatchery phase. In this experiment, four treatments were used. In Treatment 1, 10‐d posthatch (PH) fry were vaccinated and then directly stocked into earthen ponds. In Treatments 2 and 3, 10‐d PH fry were sham‐vaccinated (control) and vaccinated, respectively, kept in nursery tanks for 22 d, and then stocked into earthen ponds. Fry in Treatment 4 were sham‐vaccinated at 10 d PH, kept in nursery tanks for 22 d, and then vaccinated prior to stocking into earthen ponds. Mean fingerling yield at harvest ranged from 4716 kg/ha in Treatment 1 to 8112 kg/ha in Treatment 4. Mean individual fish weight ranged from 38.8 g in Treatment 1 to 40.9 g in Treatment 4, and feed conversion ratios (FCR) ranged from 1.15 in Treatment 4 to 1.51 in Treatment 1. Mean survival ranged from 47.5% in Treatment 1 to 73.4% in Treatment 4. In specific comparisons to evaluate the nursery effect (Treatments 1 and 3), yield and overall survival were significantly different (P < 0.05) between these two treatments. In specific comparisons to evaluate the effect of the use of the vaccine (Treatments 2, 3, and 4), overall survival was significantly different (P < 0.05) between Treatment 2 (sham‐vaccinated control with nursery phase) and Treatment 4 (vaccinated at 32 d PH with nursery phase). No significant differences (P > 0.05) in yield, average weight, and FCR were observed between treatments. Results indicate that implementing an extended hatchery phase and vaccination strategy with older fry can improve overall survival of fingerling fish.  相似文献

Abstract Experiments were conducted to evaluate and compare the production, quality and survival of eggs and the subsequent growth and survival of fry in two small-scale production systems: natural incubation and egg collection followed by artificial incubation. Artificial incubation produced a significantly greater number and biomass of fry per unit weight of female broodstock (P < 0·05). This was due to the significantly decreased spawning interval in females from which eggs were collected (mean = 23· days) compared to naturally incubating females (mean = 36·8 days). It is also hypothesized that survival during artificial incubation (85%) is greater than in natural incubation. Cost-benefit analysis demonstrated a threefold increase in total net returns for artificial incubation.  相似文献

This study aimed to elucidate the effect of partial or complete replacement of live feed (LF) (Tubifex) with formulated feed (FF) on the reproductive performance of Betta splendens. Three hundred B. splendens fry (average weight 0.19 ± 0.01 g) were equally distributed into five different groups, each with three replicates. They were fed for 105 days with following different diets: control (C)—100% LF; T1—75% LF, 25% FF; T2—50% LF, 50% FF; T3—25% LF, 75% FF, and T4—100% FF. Results showed that the average number of hatched larvae (654 ± 101) and fry survival after 2 weeks of rearing (428 ± 70), after completion of three spawning, were recorded highest in the control group, which was, however, not significantly different from the T1, T2, and T3 groups. At the end of the feeding trial, the highest hatching percentage (90.3%) was registered in the T2 group, which was not significantly different from the control and T1 groups. The T2 group also recorded highest fry survival (65.54%) after completion of three spawning, which was not significantly (P < 0.05) different from the T1 and T3 groups. Control diet contained higher saturated fatty acid (63.23%) than formulated diet (29.80%). In the whole-body tissue, highest level of EPA (0.42%) and DHA (3.13%) were found in the T4 group followed by T3 group. The DHA/EPA ration was recorded highest in the T2 group (10.96%), which did not differ significantly from the T1 and T3 groups. Significant positive correlation was observed between saturated fatty acid levels in fish whole-body tissue and number of hatched larvae (Y = 30.81 × −825.3, R 2 = 0.968) and fry survival after 2 weeks of rearing (Y = 21.38 × −580.9, R 2 = 0.967). Considering all these factors, it can be concluded that the live feed Tubifex can be replaced up to 50% without any adverse effect on the reproductive performance and fry survival of B. splendens.  相似文献

Fish freshness estimation has been mostly studied in terms of total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) and trimethylamine nitrogen (TMA-N) determination and partially addresses the kinetics, which limits its practical utility. In this study, TVB-N and TMA-N content of Rohu stored under limited refrigerated (5 and 0°C) and frozen (?5°C) conditions for 42 days showed an increasing trend, respectively. TVB-N and TMA-N formation in stored Rohu was higher at higher temperature and their initial and final values were found 4.57 ± 0.321, 0.14 ± 0.047 mg/100g and 46.56 ± 0.994, 3.24 ± 0.112 mg/100g, respectively. The volatile formations in Rohu at ?5°C were slow, as the frozen storage arrests the enzymatic and microbial activities in comparison to 0°C and above. The kinetics of TVB-N and TMA-N were investigated using zero, first, and nth-order reaction model. First-order kinetics exhibited the best fit model for TVB-N (R2 = 0.98; χ2 = 0.045), whereas TMA-N formation showed nth-order kinetics (n = ?0.4608, R2 = 0.96, χ2 = 0.028) as best fit model. The first-order kinetic reaction contributed activation energy of 58.16 kJ/mol for TVB-N and 10.86 kJ/mol for TMA-N. TVB-N and TMA-N formations were influenced by storage temperature and duration as expected. Kinetic parameters were also significantly (P ≤ 0.05) affected by storage temperatures.  相似文献

Effect of isolipidic (62.7 ± 5.0 g kg?1) diets with protein levels of 204.6 (T20), 302.3 (T30), 424.6 (T40) or 511.0 g kg?1 (T50) on growth and survival in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus Linnaeus 1758) fry cultured for 70 days at one of four salinities (0, 15, 20 and 25 g L?1) was evaluated. A bifactorial (4 × 4) design was used with 16 treatments run in triplicate and 20 fry (0.25 ± 0.04 g) per replicate under semi‐controlled conditions. Four independent, recirculating systems (one per salinity level) were used, each one with 12 circular tanks (70 L capacity), filters and constant aeration. The different salinities had no significant effect on growth. Weight gain improved significantly as dietary protein content increased, although organisms fed the T50 diet had a lower growth rate. Survival was highest (98.33%) in the T50/15 (protein/salinity levels) treatment and lowest (71.0%) in the T20/20 treatment, with no pattern caused by the variables. The T40/25, T40/20 and T50/0 treatments produced the most efficient growth and feed utilization values while the T20 treatments at all the salinities resulted with the lowest performance. With the exception of the T50 treatments, a non‐significant tendency to increased weight gain was observed as water salinity increased, suggesting that the salinity of the culture environment does not influence dietary protein requirements in Nile tilapia O. niloticus fry.  相似文献

We examined differences in otolith oxygen (δ18Ootolith) and carbon (δ13Cotolith) stable isotope ratios between hatchery and wild pink salmon fry. The δ18Ootolith values of hatchery and wild fry were ?7.7 ± 0.2 ‰ and ?8.3 ± 0.3 ‰ (1σ), respectively. This difference reflected differences in temperature conditions experienced by each fry. The δ13Cotolith values of hatchery and wild fry were ?19.2 ± 0.3 ‰ and ?11.1 ± 1.8 ‰ (1σ), respectively. The lower δ13Cotolith values of hatchery fry were probably related to their intake of artificial diets. Discriminant analysis of δ18Ootolith and δ13Cotolith values demonstrated a highly significant difference between hatchery and wild fry with 95.8 % classification accuracy. Therefore, analysis of δ18Ootolith and δ13Cotolith precipitated in the fry stage may be useful for discriminating the origin of returning adult pink salmon. The discrimination method for returning adult fish would provide important information for evaluating the effect of hatchery release and their impact on the wild population.  相似文献

The effects of feeding two alternative live prey Hyalella azteca (freshwater gammarids) and Hyale media (marine gammarids) to Octopus maya hatchlings were compared with feeding adult Artemia sp., traditionally used during the first weeks of the life cycle. Hatchlings were fed ad libitum these three live preys during the first 15 days, and a paste elaborated with fresh squid and shrimp during the next 15 days when hatchling can be fed prepared diets. Weight (g) and specific growth rates (% day?1) were determined every 15 days. Octopus maya hatchlings fed with marine gammarids grew larger (6.9 ± 0.2% day?1) compared with hatchlings fed Artemia sp. or freshwater gammarids (4.8 ± 0.2% and 5.0 ± 0.3% day?1 respectively). Survival was also higher (92.2 ± 6.8%) for hatchlings fed marine gammarids, than for those fed Artemia sp. (74.5 ± 23.8%) or freshwater gammarids (41.2 ± 21.2%). The content of acylglycerides, cholesterol and proteins in O. maya fed marine gammarids suggested a better nutrient assimilation by the hatchlings. Also, polyunsaturated fatty acids levels (EPA and DHA) were more abundant in marine gammarids, possibly contributing to the higher growth rates observed. This is the first study revealing a successful use of marine gammarids as alternative prey for octopus hatchlings culture.  相似文献

The effects of stocking density and feeding levels on larval survival, growth rates, feed utilization efficiency and body composition of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus L.) fry were investigated in two consecutive experiments. In experiment 1, swimup fry (0.016 g average body weight) were stocked in 20‐L fibreglass tanks, in a closed, recirculating indoor system, at five stocking densities (3, 5, 10, 15 and 20 fry L?1) and fed a larval test diet (40% crude protein) to apparent satiation, three times a day, for 40 days. Fish survival, percentage weight gain and specific growth rate (% SGR) were negatively correlated with stocking density. The best performance was achieved at 3 fry L?1. However, no significant differences in growth parameters were found between 3 and 5 fry L?1. Body composition was not significantly affected by stocking density. In experiment 2, fry (0.016 g average body weight) were stocked at 5 fry L?1, and fed a larval test diet (40% crude protein) at six feeding levels (10%, 20%, 25%, 30% and 35% BW day?1) and to satiation, three times a day for 40 days. Fish growth rates and survival were extremely poor at 10% feeding level, and improved significantly with increasing feeding levels up to 30%, and levelled off with further increase in feeding levels. On the contrary, feed conversion ratio (FCR) and protein production value (PPV) were negatively correlated with feeding level. The lowest feeding level (10%) produced significantly lower body lipid and higher protein and ash than other feeding levels. The present results suggest that the optimum stocking density and feeding level of Nile tilapia fry are 5 fry L?1 and 30% per day respectively.  相似文献

A nutrient budget was quantified for six polyculture ponds of giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) and Indian major carps (Catla catla, Labeo rohita, and Cirrhinus mrigala). The initial stocking size of prawn postlarva was 16.50 ± 0.54 mm with a body weight of 0.05 ± 0.001 g. Body weight of major carps was 9.0 ± 0.89 g. The duration of culture was 280 days. Feed accounted for 82% of total nitrogen (N), 93% of total phosphorus (P), and 95% of organic carbon (OC) inputs. Harvest of prawn and carps recovered 44% N, 1% P, and 19% OC. N, P, and OC accumulated in sediment were 47%, 73%, and 69%, respectively. Nutrient load in the harvest water was 0.67 ± 0.21 kg inorganic N, 0.15 ± 0.01 kg P, and 7.72 ± 0.62 kg OC per ton of Indian major carps and prawn.  相似文献
