Case description of a congenital malformation in a calf, characterized by an ingrowth of the fetal membranes into the cranial cavity

It is reported on a congenital malformation at the head of a calf born dead, characterized by downgrowth of the fetal membranes into the cranial cavity. The outer appearance and the pathologic-anatomical observations are presented in pictures and the attempt of an interpretation is made.     

Multimodality characterization of a noncommunicating congenital duodenal duplication cyst causing pyloric outflow obstruction in a young dog

A 10‐month‐old German Shepherd Dog presented for evaluation of intermittent vomiting. Abdominal radiographs revealed a marked right cranial mass effect. Initial differentials included abscess/cyst or less likely neoplasia from undetermined origin. On abdominal ultrasound the mass appeared cystic and thin walled. Computed tomography revealed a large cystic lesion originating from the pyloroduodenal junction causing pyloric outflow obstruction. A noncommunicating duodenal duplication cyst was found on exploratory laparotomy and further confirmed with histopathology and immunohistochemistry. Enteric duplication cyst should be considered as a differential in young dogs with gastrointestinal signs and a cystic abdominal mass detected with different imaging modalities.

An unusual combination of congenital cardiac anomalies in a cat

A case of a congenital cardiac anomaly in a cat is described. The anomaly includes a patent ductus arteriosus, an interatrial septal defect, an interventricular septal defect and tricuspid insufficiency. An umbilical hernia was present also. Emphasis is placed on the relationship of the auscultatory, radiographic and electrocardiographic features and the pathological findings.
Résumé. On décrit un cas d'anomalie cardiaque congénitale chez un chat; cette anomalie comprenait la présence d'un carnal artériel, d'une communication inter-auriculaire septale, d'une communication inter-ventriculaire septale et d'une insuffisance tricuspidienne. L'animal était atteint aussi d'une hernie ombilicale. On souligne les rapports entre les données de l'auscultation, de la radiographie, de l'électro-cardiographie et les lésions anatomopathologiques.
Zusammenfassung. Ein Fall einer kongenitalen Herzanomalie bei einer Katze wird beschrieben. Zu der Anomalie gehören ein Ductus arteriosus apertus, ein interatrialer Septumdefekt, ein interventrikularer Septumdefekt und Tricuspidalinsuffizienz. Ausserdem lag ein Nabelbruch vor. Besonderes Gewicht wird auf die Beziehung der Auskultation, Radiographie und Elektrokardiographie zum pathologischen Befund gelegt.

Besonderes Gewicht wird auf die Beziehung der Auskultation, Radiographie und Elektrokardiographie zum pathologischen Befund gelegt.     

高校教学改革思考——以结果为导向转变为以过程为导向

目前,我国的高校教学普遍以结果为导向。以结果为导向的教学易导致高校师生以应试为目的而消极应付教学的浮躁风气,改革为以过程为导向更为科学。改革的重要方面在于高校的考评制度改革和因材施教的重视。具体的,高校教学课程改革需要高校教师开展课程设计,创新教学模式,兼顾课程教学的基础性、专业性和通识性。     

Clinical case report: unilateral malformation of the eye of a thoroughbred foal

A unilateral malformation of the eye of a thoroughbred foal is described. The specific form of the tiny lens we named, "lenticulus". It is correlated with a maximal unchangeable mydriasis. The bulb shows physiological size. A brown-black pigmented mass inhibited (internal) inspection and examination of the middle and rear part of the eye. Special emphasis is laid on the insecure behaviour of the foal. A connection with an iridocyclochoroiditis, which was treated in the mare about a year ago, and the pathological changes in the eye of the foal is not evident.

Complex vertebral malformation in a holstein calf: report of a case in the USA.

Complex vertebral malformation (CVM), a familial syndrome of Holstein calves, has been reported in aborted fetuses and in prematurely born, stillborn, and neonatal calves. Affected calves have anomalies in the vertebral column, including hemivertebrae, fused and misshapen vertebrae and ribs, scoliosis, and vertebral synostosis. Concurrent low body weight, symmetrical arthrogryposis, and cardiac anomalies have been documented in affected calves. The syndrome was identified and characterized in Holstein cattle in Denmark; however, a global distribution of this genetic disorder is likely based on identification of common ancestral sires widely used for artificial insemination. This is the first documented case of CVM in a Holstein calf in the USA.
