Blue mold and bitter rot, caused by Penicillium expansum and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, respectively, are two of the most devastating diseases during and after storage of apple. The present project was conducted to evaluate the level of tolerance to these diseases in apple germplasm, and investigate possible associations with other fruit characteristics such as harvest date, firmness at harvest, softening (loss of firmness during storage) and sun-exposure. Apples were harvested at a maturation stage suitable for storage, inoculated with spore suspensions of P. expansum (127 cultivars) or C. gloeosporioides (70 cultivars), and stored for 6 or 12 weeks for early- and late-maturing cultivars, respectively. Fruit firmness was measured after harvest and after storage, and the difference was used as a measure of fruit softening. Average lesion diameter varied significantly among both early- and late-maturing cultivars. The amount of damage caused by the two diseases was significantly correlated across cultivars. Regression analyses indicated that lesion diameter was positively affected by fruit softening and negatively affected by harvest date and firmness at harvest. Impact of the independent variables was quantified with partial least squares discriminant analysis; approximately 40% of the genetic variation could be explained by these variables with harvest date being the most important. The effect of sun-exposure was analyzed on six bi-colored cultivars but the results were not conclusive. Cultivars that showed relatively small symptoms in spite of being early-maturing and/or only medium firm, may have other traits that are beneficial for storage and could therefore be especially useful in breeding programs.  相似文献

Summary Genetic variability in the apple [Malus] fruit disorder bitter pit and fruit calcium concentrations ([Ca]) was determined in 25 seedling families at each of two sites from 1999 to 2000 and again for one site, in 2001. Most trees were free of pit or had low pit incidence, which could be approximated by an over-dispersed binomial distribution. A genetic component to external and internal pit incidence was found across both sites and all years. This effect was irrespective of the use of several cropping factors, average fruit weight or fruit mineral concentrations as covariates in the analyses. Year and/or site always had substantial effects on pit incidence. Interactions of genetic effects with site or year were also detected with large differences in mean pit incidence between sites or years for some families but not others. No relationship was found between mean family pit incidence and mean family [Ca] or mean family harvest date. However fruit [Ca] and harvest date were usually important predictors of within-family variation in pit incidence. For any one seedling, family had the largest effect on bitter pit incidence followed by site and [Ca] and the smallest effect was that of harvest date. [Ca] showed a strong genetic component and estimated family means of [Ca] were consistent at different sites and years. These results suggest that susceptibility of apple genotypes to bitter pit in breeding programmes may be best assessed through screening across multiple sites and seasons. Fruit [Ca] might be useful as an indirect selection index for bitter pit within, but not among families.  相似文献

Apricots (Prunus armeniaca) were held in air storage at 0 °C and ripened at 20 °C, or ripened at 20 °C straight after harvest, and changes in fruit quality quantified using postharvest and sensory evaluations. Maturity at harvest significantly affected flesh firmness and other quality factors. Mealiness and gel formation only developed in fruit that had been stored at low (0 °C) temperatures. Mealiness did not develop until firmness dropped below approximately 20 N, whereas gel formation began to develop when firmness was as high as 35 N. Development of mealiness and loss of juiciness were correlated; however, slight mealiness was perceived when fruit were still considered juicy. Specific cultivar-related differences were evident in the changes in firmness and development of gel formation during and after cold storage. Fruit were less liked by the sensory panel when firmness dropped below 20 N, as juiciness decreased and mealiness and gel formation increased. Cell wall studies showed changes in yields of water-soluble and CDTA (trans-1,2-cyclohexanediamine tetraacetic acid)-soluble pectin. In fruit ripened after cold storage, mealiness and gel formation was accompanied by an increase in water-soluble pectin and an increase in CDTA-soluble pectin, whereas in apricots ripened straight after harvest, water-soluble pectin increased but CDTA-soluble pectin slightly decreased. All fruit, regardless of maturity or having chilling disorders or not, fitted the same correlation between firmness and uronic acid content of water-soluble pectin, but no pattern was evident for CDTA-soluble pectin. We concluded that the increasing solubilisation of pectin was a major feature of fruit softening in apricot, whereas the differences in CDTA-soluble pectin may reflect differences in strength of cell adhesion.  相似文献

The absorption coefficient μa measured at 670 nm in fruit pulp at harvest by time-resolved reflectance spectroscopy (TRS) has been shown to be a good maturity index for early nectarine cultivars. By including individual fruit maturity as a biological shift factor (BSF) into a kinetic model for softening it is possible to select fruit with different shelf-life potential. The BSF approach combined with TRS measurement and kinetic modeling of firmness was applied to a late maturing nectarine cultivar (‘Morsiani 90’), ripened at 20 °C after harvest or after storage at 0 °C and 4 °C, the latter conditions inducing chilling injury. At harvest the absorption coefficient μa had low values and low variability, indicating advanced maturity, while firmness was similar to that of early cultivars. The softening model took into account these differences, showing parameters similar to those of the early cultivars with the exception of the softening rate which was 2-6 times lower, indicating a slower softening in ‘Morsiani 90’ fruit. Decay of μa at 20 °C was also slower. Softening continued during storage at 4 °C, but not at 0 °C. After storage at 0 °C softening was resumed similarly to non-stored fruit, but with much variability. Fruit stored at 4 °C, which showed chilling injury, had a softening rate at 20 °C significantly higher than that of 0 °C fruit. It is suggested that the same changes in cell wall metabolism which induce the appearance of chilling injury also affect firmness and increase softening rate.  相似文献

A strong potent inhibitor of ethylene action, 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) maintains apple fruit quality during storage. To understand the influence of time after harvest until 1-MCP treatment, we studied expression patterns of genes for ethylene biosynthesis enzymes and ethylene receptors in two apple cultivars, ‘Orin’ and ‘Fuji’, which differ in ethylene production. Ethylene production and expression of MdACS1, MdERS1, and MdERS2 were suppressed in all 1-MCP-treated ‘Fuji’ fruit, but in ‘Orin’, the later 1-MCP was applied after harvest, the less was the suppression of ethylene production and expression of these genes. In fruit in which 1-MCP had low efficacy (e.g., ‘Orin’ treated at 7 DAH), ethylene production and the level of MdERS1 were briefly reduced by 1-MCP treatment at 2 days after treatment, then began to increase. Since ethylene receptors negatively regulate the ethylene signalling pathway, the increased levels of ethylene production and ethylene receptors after 1-MCP treatment might reduce 1-MCP efficacy.  相似文献

Time-resolved reflectance spectroscopy (TRS), allows for the complete optical characterization (in terms of the absorption and scattering coefficients) of diffusive media such as fruit, in the spectral range 600–1100 nm, probing a volume to a depth of about 2 cm. The hypothesis was made that the absorption coefficient at 670 nm (μa), near the chlorophyll peak, could be an index of fruit maturity at harvest. The aim of this research was to model nectarine softening for fruit of different maturity at harvest, as assessed by μa. Nectarine fruit of two sizes (A and B) were picked in 2002, 2003 (cv ‘Spring Bright’) and 2004 (cv ‘Ambra’), measured by TRS at harvest on two opposite sides and ranked by decreasing μa averaged per fruit (increasing maturity). Fruit were stored at 0 °C for 3, 10 and 6 days, then at 20 °C for 79, 120 and 117 h in 2002, 2003 and 2004, respectively. Firmness was measured by pressure test (8 mm tip) during shelf life, on two sides of each fruit, and then averaged. Softening at 20 °C followed a logistic model as a function of μa at harvest and of time at 20 °C (adjusted R2 = 0.85 in ‘Spring Bright’ and 0.75 in ‘Ambra’). The effects of fruit size and cold storage were negligible. The absorption coefficient μa explained 13–34% of the variation of firmness. Fruit with different μa at harvest softened with the same sigmoidal pattern in time, which was shifted earlier in low μa fruit, and later in high μa fruit. μa accounted for the time shift in softening of individual fruit within the same batch. The value of μa can be regarded as an index of the biological age of fruit. By using this model, it is possible to predict individual fruit softening rates at 20 °C.  相似文献

对缓慢降温处理后石榴果实在冷害温度下的生理反应进行了研究,旨在为石榴果实采后保鲜提供理论依据。以新疆大籽石榴为试材,研究了0℃低温胁迫及缓慢降温对石榴果实采后生理的影响结果表明,与0℃的低温相比,缓慢降温处理减缓石榴果皮细胞膜透性的升高以及膜脂质过氧化物丙二醛的积累,抑制了多酚氧化酶活性的增加及减少了酚类物质的氧化,明显推迟和减轻石榴果实冷害症状的发生,减轻了果皮的褐变,保持果实品质。  相似文献

The effect of multiple 1-MCP treatments prior to the establishment of controlled atmosphere (CA) storage on the quality of ‘McIntosh’ and ‘Empire’ apples [Malus × sylvestris (L.) Mill. var. domestica (Borkh.) Mansf.] was investigated. Fruit were harvested on three occasions over a 1 week period, and at each harvest cooled overnight and 1-MCP applied the following day. Fruit from the first or second harvests were treated again or for the first time when fruit from each successive harvest was treated. CA conditions were established after the last 1-MCP treatment and fruit were stored for up to 8 months. Delays in 1-MCP application generally resulted in progressively higher internal ethylene concentrations (IECs) at the time of treatment and lower firmness both at the time of treatment and after storage. Multiple 1-MCP applications kept IECs low and maintained firmness compared with single applications that were applied after 4 d. For ‘McIntosh’, external CO2 injury was more prevalent after storage if fruit were treated without delays after harvest for earlier harvests while later harvests were less affected. For ‘Empire’, flesh browning was more prevalent in fruit from later harvests and 1-MCP treated fruit had higher levels than untreated fruit. Either early 1-MCP treatment or multiple treatments reduced senescent breakdown in ‘McIntosh’, and core browning and greasiness in ‘Empire’.  相似文献

To investigate the effects of postharvest application of 1-MCP on ethylene production and fruit softening, activities of ethylene biosynthesis and fruit softening enzymes were measured during postharvest ripening of plum (Prunus salicina Lindl. cv. Tegan Blue) fruit after being exposed to 1-MCP (0, 0.5, 1.0 or 2.0 μL L−1) at 20 ± 1 °C for 24 h. Following the treatments, fruit were allowed to ripen at ambient temperature (20 ± 1 °C), and ethylene production in fruit, activities of ACS and ACO, ACC content and fruit softening enzymes (PE, EGase, exo-PG and endo-PG) in fruit skin and pulp were recorded at different intervals. Postharvest application of 1-MCP significantly delayed and suppressed the climacteric ethylene production with reduction in the activities of ethylene biosynthesis enzymes (ACS, ACO) and ACC content, and fruit softening enzymes (PE, EGase, exo-PG and endo-PG) in the skin as well as in pulp tissues. The reduction was more pronounced with increased concentrations of 1-MCP. 1-MCP treated fruit showed different rates of fruit softening and activities of ethylene biosynthesis enzymes in the skin and pulp tissues which warrant further investigation on regulation of gene expression related to these enzymes with the inhibitory effect of 1-MCP.  相似文献

以“叶三”黄瓜果实为材料,采用10 ppm1-MCP处理24 h后,与对照(CK)同时转入0℃低温冷藏,并对低温贮藏过程中的黄瓜感官品质、组织相对电导率、可滴定酸(TA)、Vc含量和失重率的变化进行了研究,结果表明,1-MCP处理可抑制低温贮藏中黄瓜相对电导率的上升,减缓黄瓜果实冷害症状的发展,同时延缓Vc和可滴定酸的下降速率,维持黄瓜较好品质。  相似文献

The influence of different growing periods on quality and decay of fresh-cut baby spinach leaves during chilling storage was assessed. Three different spinach crops were sown on October, December and January, respectively. On January–March the vegetable leaves were harvested, analysed for nitrate, oxalate, vitamin C and chlorophyll content and, after the minimal processing operations, the leaves were packaged and stored at 5 °C. During storage, respiration rate, microbiological quality, dry matter, chlorophyll content and colour parameters were monitored. The results show that for all harvests, the initial quality of leaves was acceptable, although slight changes may be due to variability in climatic conditions.  相似文献

The mode of action of nitric oxide (NO) in inhibiting ethylene biosynthesis and fruit softening during ripening and cool storage of mango fruit was investigated. Hard mature green mango (Mangifera indica L. cv. ‘Kensington Pride’) fruit were fumigated with 20 μL L−1 NO for 2 h at 21 °C and allowed to ripen at 21 ± 1 °C for 10 d, or stored at 13 ± 1 °C for 21 d. During ripening and cool storage, ethylene production and respiration rate from whole fruit were determined daily. The 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) content, activities of ACC synthase (ACS), ACC oxidase (ACO), and fruit softening enzymes such as pectin esterase (PE), endo-1,4-β-d-glucanase (EGase), exo- and endo-polygalacturonase (exo-PG, endo-PG) as well as firmness and rheological properties of pulp were determined at two- and seven-day intervals during ripening and cool storage, respectively. NO fumigation inhibited ethylene biosynthesis and respiration rate, and maintained higher pulp firmness, springiness, cohesiveness, chewiness, adhesiveness, and stiffness. NO-fumigated fruit during cool storage and ripening had lower ACC contents through inhibiting the activities of both ACS and ACO in the fruit pulp. NO-fumigated fruit showed decreased activities of exo-PG, endo-PG, EGase, but maintained higher PE activity in pulp tissues during ripening and cool storage. In conclusion, NO fumigation inhibited ethylene biosynthesis through inhibition of ACS and ACO activities leading to reduced ACC content in the fruit pulp which consequently, reduced the activities of fruit softening enzymes during ripening and cool storage.  相似文献

Lipoxygenase activity (LOX), levels of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) and of 1-malonyl-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (MACC) and the capacity of isolated fruit disks to evolve ethylene were examined during storage of apples having different fruit mineral content. The internal ethylene concentration (IEC) of the whole fruit was also measured before removing discs of tissue. The results show that all these activities depend on the fruit mineral content and confirm general knowledge on the relations between minerals and fruit storage. For instance, fruits rich in calcium and/or phosphorus presented a lower LOX activity, a lower ACC content and a lower ethylene emission while fruits rich in potassium and/or with a relatively high K/Ca presented a higher LOX activity, a higher ACC level and a higher ethylene emission. Results are discussed in an attempt to explain the effects of minerals on storage quality.  相似文献

1-Aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) synthase and oxidase activities, their gene expression, and ethylene production in apple fruit [Malus sylvestris (L.) Mill. Var. domestica (Borkh.) Mansf.] treated with a synthetic auxin 2,4-dichlorophenoxy-propionic acid (2,4-DP) and n-propyl dihydrojasmonate (PDJ), a jasmonic acid derivative, has been investigated to clarify the action of auxin and jasmonates on ethylene production. The fruit was harvested at 103 d after full bloom (preclimacteric). The expression of MdACS4 messenger RNA (mRNA) at 48 and 96 h after treatment was higher in fruit treated with 2,4-DP than in the untreated control, but those of MdACS1 and MdACO1 were not affected by treatment. The ethylene production in 2,4-DP-treated fruit increased at 96 h after treatment. In contrast, expression of mRNAs hybridized with MdACS1 and MdACO1 probes in the skin of PDJ-treated fruit were higher than those in the untreated control. In addition, ACC synthase activity and ethylene production also increased after treatment. These results show that the ethylene production rate may differ with the kind of genes which were stimulated by auxin or jasmonates.  相似文献

The effect of delaying harvest on fruit quality and storage life was measured for the late-season highbush blueberry cultivars ‘Aurora’, ‘Elliott’ and ‘Liberty’. In all three cultivars as fruit ripened, there was a steady decline in TA while SS remained stable, indicating that the fruit were becoming sweeter. This was supported by taste panel perceptions of greater sweetness associated with later harvested fruit. There was also a significant overall reduction in fruit firmness and storage life as the percentage of blue fruit at harvest increased; however, a significant interaction for storage life between crop ripeness and cultivar was observed, indicating that the fruit of some cultivars were less influenced by overall crop ripeness than others. The storage life of ‘Elliott’ was significantly affected negatively by crop ripeness, while ‘Aurora’ and ‘Liberty’ were not. ‘Liberty’ produced the highest percentage of sound fruit of the three cultivars and its fruit stored the longest, suggesting that ‘Liberty’ and ‘Aurora’ fruit can be left longer on the bush before harvesting than ‘Elliott’ without significantly damaging storage life. This would allow ‘Aurora’ to develop a sweeter flavor before shipping. The physicochemical and sensory evaluations were highly correlated, suggesting that TA, SS and firmness can be used as predictors of consumer preferences.  相似文献

低温送风空调系统引进新型冰蓄冷设备,采用正丁烷作为制冷剂,制冷剂与水直接接触,换热更强烈且稳定。为了研究该系统相应㶲损因素条件下的节能薄弱环节,实现系统性能优化,基于该系统及各表冷器㶲分析模型,分析了热湿比、新风比、送风温差等㶲损因素对系统㶲效率和各表冷器㶲损率的影响。结果表明:当热湿比变化时,处理二次混风的表冷器㶲损率随之呈正比变化,其他表冷器㶲损率及系统㶲效率随之呈反比变化;当新风比变化时,处理新风的两级表冷器㶲损率随之呈正比变化,其他表冷器㶲损率及系统㶲效率随之呈反比变化;当送风温差变化时,处理一次回风的表冷器㶲损率随之呈正比变化,其他表冷器㶲损率及系统㶲效率随之呈反比变化。  相似文献
