The immune responses of 514 pigs from 5 swine breeds (Chester White, Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Yorkshire) to vaccination with Bordetella bronchiseptica were measured by agglutination and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) methods. Both assays showed higher antibody levels in sera of pigs after vaccination than in sera of the pigs before vaccination. The variability of the responses among breeds was greater for the agglutination method than for the ELISA method. The ELISA proved to be more sensitive than the agglutination method and could detect antibody in serum samples diluted at least 100-fold more than those used in the agglutination procedure. The correlation of antibody titers obtained by the 2 methods was small, but statistically (P less than 0.01) significant. The ELISA should be useful for determinations of antibody responses of swine to B bronchiseptica.  相似文献

Genetic differences in immune response to B. bronchiseptica after vaccination with a commercial B. bronchiseptica bacterin were investigated in 1,069 8-wk-old pigs. These pigs were from 65 litters born in the spring and 66 litters born in the fall of 1982 and were purebreds from the Chester White (n = 128), Duroc (n = 281), Hampshire (n = 143), Landrace (n = 309) and Yorkshire (n = 208) breeds. Each litter was raised separately. Individual pigs were vaccinated im at 4 and 6 wk of age with 2 ml of B. bronchiseptica bacterin. At 8 wk of age, 8 ml of blood were collected from each animal and serum prepared to determine agglutinating antibody titers against B. bronchiseptica bacterin by a bacterial agglutination method. In addition, lymphocytes were separated from 1 ml of heparinized blood and used to determine Swine Lymphocyte Antigen (SLA) haplotypes by using cytotoxic antibodies against the SLA complex. Antisera for 3 SLA haplotypes were made available by the National Institutes of Health. Results indicated that breed of pig (P less than .01) and dam of pig (P less than .01) affected the immune response of the pig after B. bronchiseptica vaccination. Higher immune response was also associated (P less than .05) with one of the SLA haplotypes tested. Heritability estimates for immune response following vaccination were .10 +/- .12 (half-sib) and .42 +/- .19 (full-sib). Results suggest that the relationship of the SLA complex to immune response in the pig and nonadditive genetic and maternal effects on immune response should be further investigated.  相似文献

Data from 988 pigs from 119 litters farrowed in two seasons of a three-breed diallel crossbreeding experiment were analyzed to estimate general combining abilities of breeds and heterosis for humoral immune response to pseudorabies virus and atrophic rhinitis vaccines. Twenty purebred boars and 85 sows of the Duroc, Landrace and Yorkshire breeds were mated to provide the nine breed-of-sire and breed-of-dam combinations. Immune response was measured after vaccination. A modified-live pseudorabies virus (PR) vaccine was administered to piglets at 28 d of age and response measured as log2 serum neutralization titers at 56 d. An inactivated B. bronchiseptica bacterin was administered at 28, 42 and 112 d. Antibody levels were measured relative to positive and negative controls at 28, 56 and 119 d by using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The results of this study showed that ranking by breed of sire and breed of dam did not differ for general combining ability, and no evidence of significant heterosis for any immune responses was observed. Higher immune response at 56 d to B. bronchiseptica vaccine was associated with lower weaning weight (r = -.09, P less than .01). Correlations of days to 100 kg with 56-d and 119-d B. bronchiseptica antibody levels were .15 (P less than .01) and .12 (P less than .01). The relationship between humoral immune response to PR vaccine and growth traits was similar to that observed for B. bronchiseptica vaccine. Heritability of susceptibility to scrotal herniation in swine   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Data on 5,711 Duroc-sired, 2,227 Landrace-sired, and 2,494 Yorkshire-sired male pigs born over a 9-year period were used to evaluate the genetic influence on scrotal herniation. Differences in frequency of this defect among boar breeds (Duroc, Landrace, and Yorkshire) were significant (P less than 0.01). Differences among sires within the Duroc and Landrace boar groups were significant (P less than 0.001 and P less than 0.05, respectively), but differences within the Yorkshire group were not significant. Frequency of scrotal hernia among male full siblings of affected males was consistently higher than the overall frequency of the defect among progeny in each of their respective breed of boar groups. Percentage of affected pigs among male full siblings of affected males for Duroc, Landrace, and Yorkshire groups, respectively, was 3.0, 3.0, and 2.7 times greater than the overall percentage affected in their respective breed groups. Heritability of susceptibility to scrotal hernia development was estimated to be 0.29 +/- 0.17, 0.34 +/- 0.23, and 0.34 +/- 0.19 in Duroc, Landrace, and Yorkshire-sired pig groups, respectively.  相似文献

Meishan, Fengjing, Minzhu, and Duroc boars were mated by AI to crossbred gilts to compare the sire breeds for effects on productivity of their mates and performance of their progeny. Gilts were derived from a four-way cross of Chester White, Landrace, Large White, and Yorkshire. At weaning, litters sired by Meishan boars averaged 1.69 and 1.32 more pigs than those sired by Duroc and Minzhu boars, respectively (P less than .05). Pigs sired by Meishan and Fengjing boars averaged 1.2 to 1.8 more nipples than pigs sired by Duroc and Minzhu boars (P less than .05). Minzhu-sired pigs had a lower (P less than .05) survival rate to 14 and 28 d of age than did those sired by Meishan, Fengjing, and Duroc. Fengjing-sired pigs were heavier than Minzhu-sired pigs at birth and heavier than Minzhu- and Duroc-sired pigs at 14, 28, and 56 d of age (P less than .05). At 70 d of age, Meishan-sired pigs were heaviest, followed in order by Fengjing-, Duroc-, and Minzhu-sired pigs. At 98 d of age, Meishan-sired pigs were significantly heavier than all other breed groups and Duroc-sired pigs were significantly heavier than Minzhu-sired pigs. At 126 and 154 d of age, Duroc-sired pigs were heaviest, followed in order by Meishan-, Fengjing-, and Minzhu-sired pigs; all differences were significant. Average backfat thickness of gilts at 99.7 kg was least for Duroc-sired gilts and highest for Meishan-sired gilts. Sire breed groups did not differ significantly in feed efficiency from 70 to 98 d of age. Duroc-sired pigs were the most efficient (P less than .05) from 98 to 126 and 126 to 154 d of age. Results indicate that use of these Chinese breeds in crossbreeding programs will decrease performance traits. This decrease would have to be offset by increases in reproductive efficiency of Chinese sows, use of repartitioning agents, or other management techniques if Chinese pigs are to improve overall production efficiency of a crossbreeding program.  相似文献

实验测定了哈白、杜洛克猪3月龄和5月龄的总数E-玫瑰花环形成细胞百分率、活性E-玫瑰花环形成细胞百分率、淋巴细胞转化率、血清IgG含量及5月龄接种布氏杆菌猪型二号苗后7、21、356的特异性抗体滴度,对这些免疫指标及其与部分生产性状的关系进行了分析,旨在为猪的抗病育种提供依据。实验结果表明:(1)3月龄和5月龄几个免疫指标均存在品种差异,哈白猪显著地高干杜洛克猪;(2)3月龄与5月龄间所测细胞免疫指标无显著差异,但5月龄血清IgG含量显著高于3月龄血清IgG含量;(3)哈白与杜洛克猪对布氏杆菌疫苗的抗体应答能力存在显著差异;(4)所测定的细胞免疫指标间大多表现正的相关,体液免疫指标间亦表现正的相关,而细胞免疫指标和体液免疫指标间大多具有较弱的相关;(5)所测定的几个免疫指标与生产性状间大多具有较弱的相关。  相似文献

It was hypothesized in these studies that differences would exist in baseline immune and performance measures among different breeds of pigs, and that these differences would be affected by age of the pig. Baseline immune, plasma cortisol (CORT) concentrations, and performance measures were determined among Berkshire (n = 36), Duroc (n = 18), Meishan (n = 54), Landrace x Yorkshire (White X; n = 36), and Yorkshire (n = 36) pigs at 4, 8, and 12 wk of age. All piglets were weaned at 17 to 21 d of age and moved to a common nursery environment. Total white blood cell (WBC), leukocyte differential, plasma CORT, immunoglobulin G (IgG) concentrations, natural killer cytotoxicity, neutrophil phagocytosis (PHAGO), and chemotaxis (CHTX) were evaluated. At all ages, plasma CORT was greatest in Meishan pigs, and least in Yorkshires (P < 0.05). Plasma IgG increased with age for all breeds (age: P < 0.01; breed x age: P < 0.005), except that in Meishans, IgG decreased. Natural killer cytotoxicity was greatest (P < 0.05) among Meishan pigs. There were breed x age interactions for neutrophil PHAGO (P < 0.001) and CHTX (P < 0.001). Overall, Yorkshire pigs showed the greatest (P < 0.05) percentage of PHAGO but the least (P < 0.05) CHTX. White X pigs had the greatest (P < 0.05) CHTX response. Berkshire pigs had the greatest (P < 0.001) numbers of neutrophils. At 12 wk of age, Meishan pigs had the least BW gain (P < 0.001), and Durocs had the greatest G:F (P < 0.001). There were no significant sex differences for immune (P > or = 0.15), performance (P > or = 0.20), or CORT (P = 0.70) measures. Pig breed and age influenced both baseline immune measures and plasma CORT in growing pigs, suggesting that pig breed and age are important factors influencing the response to various stressors or infectious challenges.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to estimate the effects of breed, sex, and halothane genotype on fatty acid composition and several fatty acid indices of lipid extracted from porcine LM. Purebred Yorkshire (n = 436), Duroc (n = 353), Hampshire (n = 218), Spotted (n = 187), Chester White (n = 173), Poland China (n = 124), Berkshire (n = 256), and Landrace (n = 187) pigs (n = 1,934; 1,128 barrows and 806 gilts) from 1991, 1992, 1994, and 2001 National Barrow Show Sire Progeny Tests were used. Pigs were classified as the HAL-1843 normal (NN) genotype (n = 1,718) or the HAL-1843 carrier (Nn) genotype (n = 216). For statistical analysis, a mixed model was used that included fixed effects of breed, sex, halothane genotype, test, slaughter date, interaction of breed x sex, and random effects of sire and dam within breed. Breed significantly affected the concentration of individual fatty acids, total lipid content, and the values of several fatty acid indices of LM. Duroc pigs had the greatest (P < 0.01) content of total SFA. Total MUFA concentration in Poland China pigs was greater (P < 0.05) than in all other breeds except the Spotted (P > 0.05). The concentrations of total PUFA were greater (P < 0.01) in Hampshire, Landrace, and Yorkshire pigs compared with those of other breeds. Significant sex differences for individual fatty acids were detected. Compared with gilts, barrows had greater (P < 0.01) concentrations of SFA and MUFA but lower (P < 0.01) total PUFA. Halothane genotype was a significant source of variation for the percentages of some fatty acids. Pigs with the carrier (Nn) genotype had lower concentrations of SFA (P < 0.05) and MUFA (P < 0.01) but a greater concentration of PUFA (P < 0.01) compared with NN pigs. There were significant negative correlations between total lipid content and individual PUFA and significant positive correlations between lipid concentration and most individual SFA and MUFA. In conclusion, the results suggest that breed and sex are important sources of variation for fatty acid composition of LM.  相似文献

Fifty-seven Duroc, 41 Landrace and 38 Yorkshire purebred sows in d 10 to 53 of pregnancy were aborted to synchronize estrus by using prostaglandin F2 alpha (PGF2 alpha). Breed differences in time between injection of two 10-mg doses of PGF2 alpha and return to estrus were observed in these three breeds of pregnant sows during two breeding seasons. Duroc sows returned to estrus .9 d faster (P less than .01) than Yorkshire and 1.3 d faster (P less than .01) than Landrace sows. Seasonal differences were also observed. The mean days from injection to estrus were 1.8 d fewer (P less than .01) for the spring season than in the fall season. All sows expressed estrus 5 to 11 d after injection. Normal gestation, parturition and piglet survival were observed in the sows after the treatment. Genetic differences in response to induced abortion and return to estrus could have implications in planned breeding and farrowing systems.  相似文献

运用PCR-RFLP方法,检测了杜洛克、约克夏、长白猪、皮特兰、梅山猪、二花脸猪、枫泾猪、荣昌猪、苏太猪等9个国内外猪种的ESR基因PvuⅡ位点多态性。结果表明,在约克夏猪、二花脸猪、枫泾猪和苏太猪中检测到了AA、AB、BB 3种基因型,在杜洛克猪、皮特兰猪中检测到AB、BB 2种基因型,在长白猪、梅山猪、荣昌猪中只检测到了AB基因型。在本研究中不同品种的A、B基因频率差异显著,总体上在国外猪群体中A等位基因为优势等位基因,而地方猪种中B等位基因为优势等位基因。  相似文献

试验利用PCR-SSCP技术检测了山西马身猪、山西白猪、长白猪、大白猪和杜洛克猪5个品种共490头猪的DE-CR1基因外显子2的多态性。结果显示,DECR1基因外显子2位点存在多态性,表现出AA、BB和AB 3种基因型。群体遗传学分析结果表明,5个猪种都是等位基因B为优势基因;Hardy-Weinberg平衡检验结果显示,山西白猪和杜洛克猪处于平衡状态,山西马身猪、长白猪和大白猪处于非平衡状态;各品种猪的多态信息含量均为中度多态。  相似文献

【目的】探究品种、公猪出生胎次、公猪同窝仔猪数、公猪乳头数、采精季节、采精月龄和采精间隔对猪精液品质的影响,以及不同品种对精液质量稳定性的影响。【方法】选取909头杜洛克、长白、大白种公猪为试验群体,收集2021年4月至2022年4月27 408条精液测定记录,采用混合线性分析模型和方差分析探究品种、公猪出生胎次、公猪同窝仔猪数、公猪乳头数、采精季节、采精月龄和采精间隔对精液体积、精液密度、精子活力、直线前进运动精子比例、精子畸形率、总精子数及各精液性状稳定性的影响。【结果】从不同品种对精液品质的影响来看,长白猪精液体积和总精子数均显著高于大白猪、杜洛克猪(P<0.05),杜洛克猪精液密度显著高于大白猪和长白猪(P<0.05),杜洛克猪、大白猪精子活力均显著高于长白猪(P<0.05),大白猪直线前进运动精子比例显著高于长白猪和杜洛克猪(P<0.05),长白猪和大白猪精子畸形率均显著低于杜洛克猪(P<0.05);从不同公猪出生胎次对精液品质的影响来看,1~3胎出生的公猪具有较高的精液品质;从不同采精季节对精液品质的影响来看,精液密度、精子活力和总精子数秋、冬...  相似文献

Objective To investigate the variation in immune competence of two Australian pig breeds.
Design A panel of immune tests were used to assess breed and sire differences in weaner piglets of Large White and Duroc breeds.
Procedure All piglets were immunised against porcine leptospirosis. Blood samples were taken for studies on lymphocyte phenotypes, mitogenic responses of blood cells and serological analysis.
Results Significantly larger blood leucocyte numbers were found in Large White piglets compared with Duroc piglets after vaccinations. No significant difference in concanavalin A induced blood cell proliferation was found between these two breeds before or after vaccinations. Some significant breed variation in blood lymphocyte phenotypes was found. While the age-related changes of lymphocyte phenotypes were similar for the two breeds, the Large White breed had significantly larger numbers of CD2+ and CD4+ cells than the Duroc breed after the two vaccinations. There were also significant sire effects on CD8+ cells within the Large White breed after the first vaccination. No significant breed difference was detectable in serum IgG concentrations but sire differences within each breed before the primary vaccination were found. The serum antibody response to vaccination against leptospirosis was generally small, and showed no variations due to either breed or sire. No gender effects were found during the entire study.
Conclusion The study demonstrated significant differences in some important immune components of the pig breeds studied. This may in turn indicate the variation in their immune competence or disease resistance. However, further investigation into the heritability and correlation with specific immune responses is required.  相似文献

本研究旨在了解猪种的遗传变异、种群间的亲缘关系和遗传分化。以白色杜洛克×二花脸资源家系F0代的17头二花脸母猪和2头白色杜洛克公猪的DNA池为模板,通过直接测序在猪SLC6A14基因内识别4个SNPs,以3个突变位点(g.7944AT、c.1438GA、g.21063GT)为基础,通过PCR-RFLP技术,对11个中外猪种进行多态性检测。结果表明:在SLC6A14g.7944AT和g.21063GT2个突变位点上,所有检测猪种都出现变异,其中槐猪、二花脸猪在g.7944AT位点上变异显著(0.01P0.05);而里岔黑猪、槐猪、玉山黑猪、合作藏猪、八眉猪在g.21063GT内变异极显著(P0.01),以GT基因型为主,且二花脸猪中出现TT基因型;在SLC6A14c.1438GA突变位点上,3个欧洲猪种(长白、大白、杜洛克)没有出现变异,均为GG纯合型,而其他猪种在此位点上均存在变异;再根据11个猪种3个位点的多态性信息计算Nei氏遗传距离,由UPGMA法构建聚类图,说明中国地方猪种与外引猪种存在明显的遗传分化;由此得出中国地方猪种比外引猪种有高的遗传多样性和变异,且存在明显的遗传分化,品种间多数猪种符合品种地域分布和品种特性。  相似文献

One month prior to breeding, sows were vaccinated with an attenuated pseudorabies virus vaccine or challenged with a field strain of pseudorabies virus. A third group of sows were not vaccinated or challenged before breeding. Pigs from these sows were vaccinated at 3, 6, or 12 weeks of age and challenged with virulent virus three weeks later. One pig from each litter served as an unvaccinated, unchallenged control. Serum neutralization titers of these pigs were monitored from birth until 22 weeks of age. Titers of the sows were monitored through breeding, gestation and farrowing. The maximum prefarrowing anti-pseudorabies virus titer in the field virus challenged sows occurred four weeks following challenge. A significant decline in titers occurred at farrowing. Titers rose from one week postfarrowing and then declined. Titers in the field virus infected sows were consistently two to threefold greater than those of the vaccinated sows. The maximum prefarrowing anti-pseudorabies virus titer in the vaccinated sows occurred six weeks following vaccination. The geometric mean titer in these sow's then decreased and increased for two weeks after farrowing. The results in the pigs can be summarized as follows: Pigs from control sows had a greater serological response following field virus challenge than following vaccination with a modified live virus. Pigs from control sows responded serologically to vaccination at 3, 6 and 12 weeks of age. Pigs from control sows which were challenged at 6, 9 and 15 weeks of age had similar antibody responses. Pigs from vaccinated sows had no increase in titer following vaccination at three and six weeks of age. Titers increased when these pigs were vaccinated at 12 weeks of age. There was no significant increase in mean titers of pigs from challenged sows following vaccination at 3, 6 and 12 weeks of age. The nasal and serum antibody response of two groups of pigs, vaccinated with adjuvant containing formalinized or sonicated Bordetella bronchiseptica bacterins was compared with the response of a nonvaccinated group. The tube agglutination test was used to determine agglutinin titers. Following vaccination, all pigs were challenged intranasally with the vaccine strain of Bordetella, after which the nasal Bordetella flora of vaccinated and nonvaccinated pigs was investigated. Sera and nasal secretions from both vaccinated groups exhibited markedly higher agglutinin titers than the control group and serum titers were higher than those in nasal secretions. No differences in agglutinating antibody response were evident between the two vaccines. Serum antibody titers exceeded nasal titers and persisted over a longer period of time. Systemic vaccination resulted in an increased nasal clearance of the vaccine strain by the groups of pigs vaccinated with sonicated or formalined bacterin, whereas no such clearance was evident in the nonvaccinated control group.  相似文献

Summary

The severity and extent of osteochondral lesions have been examined, macroscopically, radiographically as well as histopathologically, in six different breeds of pigs (Belgian Landrace (B), Duroc (D), Dutch Landrace (N), Dutch Yorkshire (G), Hampshire (H) and Piétrain (P)). In these pigs three different levels of feeding were used.

Duroc pigs had significantly more severe lesions in the fore limbs than Dutch Landrace (N), Dutch Yorkshire (G), Hampshire (H) and Piétrain (P) pigs, while Belgian Landrace pigs (B) had significant more severe lesions than Dutch Yorkshire (G) pigs. The differences between breeds related more to the degree of severity of the lesions in the articular surfaces of the distal humerus and proximal radius‐ulna and in the distal ulnar growth plate than to the presence of the lesions per se. In the hind limbs Belgian Landrace pigs (B) had significantly more severe osteochondral lesions than all other breeds, while Dutch Landrace pigs (N) had significantly more severe lesions than Duroc (D), Dutch Yorkshire (G), Hampshire (H) and Piétran (P) pigs.

Pigs with the highest growth rate showed sginificantly more severe osteochondral lesions in the distal ulnar growth plate and in the medial fe,moral condyle than pigs with a more restricted growth rate.  相似文献

为探索SLA-DRA基因作为猪抗病育种分子标记的可能性,本研究采用PCR-SSCP和克隆测序方法对大白、长白和杜洛克共216头猪的SLA-DRA基因外显子2进行了多态性研究,分析了该基因与仔猪腹泻的关联性。结果,在SLA-DRA外显子2上检出了3个等位基因和6种基因型;6种基因型(AA、AB、BB、AC、BC和CC)在大白猪和长白猪中都存在,而在杜洛克猪中只检出4种基因型(AA、BB、AB和BC)。杜洛克猪与大白猪和长白猪间基因型分布均差异极显著(P<0.01);3个品种的基因型分布均处于Hardy-Weinberg平衡状态(P>0.05)。最小二乘法分析表明,品种和性别对仔猪腹泻影响不显著(P>0.05),基因型与仔猪腹泻显著相关(P<0.05);AA和BB基因型个体腹泻评分的最小二乘均值均显著高于AC和CC基因型个体(P<0.05)。本研究表明,SLA-DRA基因不同基因型对仔猪腹泻有着重要的影响,可作为猪抗病育种应用中的一个潜在遗传标记。  相似文献

One hundred 3/4 Duroc-1/4 Landrace (DDL), 3/4 Hampshire-1/4 Landrace (HHL) and 3/4 Spot-1/4 Landrace (SSL) backcross sows were randomly mated to Yorkshire boars to produce a total of 299 litters and 3,271 pigs to determine the effect of dam breeding on preweaning and postweaning performance of the pigs and litters. Litter sizes born and born alive were not significantly different among the three dam breeds studied. However, litter sizes alive at 21 d out of HHL sows were significantly larger than litter sizes out of SSL sows, while the litter sizes out of DDL sows were intermediate to the other two dam breeds. The DDL sows had significantly heavier litters at birth than did SSL sows, but the dam breeds did not differ in the weights of their litters at 21 and 42 d. Pigs out of DDL sows were heaviest at birth but weighed the least at 21 d, while pigs out of SSL sows were heaviest at 21 and 42 d of age. Pigs out of HHL sows weighed the least at birth and at 42 d. There were no significant differences among the dam breeds in the survival rate of their pigs. In the postweaning period, pigs out of HHL sows were the slowest growing and took the most days to reach 100 kg. Feed conversion and average daily feed consumption did not differ significantly among the three dam breeds studied.  相似文献

Mammary secretions obtained from four groups of sows at parturition and on days 7, 14 and 21 of lactation were defatted and assayed for total protein and insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I). Sows (n = 57) represented two breeds (Landrace and Duroc) and two genetic lines (selected for differences in sow productivity index, SPI) within each breed. Colostrum of Duroc sows was 4-6 fold and 30-60 fold greater in protein (P less than .001) and IGF-I (P less than .001) concentrations, respectively, than the corresponding day 7 milk from these sows. In contrast, the colostrum of Landrace sows was 2-3 fold and 30-50 fold greater in protein (P less than .001) and IGF-I (P less than .001) concentrations, respectively, than the corresponding day 7 milk. The IGF-I content in milk from Duroc sows did not differ among days 7, 14 and 21 of lactation, whereas the IGF-I content of day 7 milk from Landrace sows exceeded those for the corresponding 14 day and 21 day secretion (P less than .05). IGF-I concentration in days 14 and 21 milk was higher in Duroc (P less than .001 respectively) than Landrace sows.
