In this work, the forward extraction of defatted wheat germ protein (DWGP) by reverse micelles was studied. The reverse micellar systems were formed by sulphosuccinic acid bis (2-ethylhexyl) ester sodium salt (AOT), isooctane and KCl solution. The effects of AOT concentration, pH, KCl concentration, extraction time, the amounts of defatted wheat germ flour (DWGF), W0 (the molar ratio of water to surfactant, i.e. W0 = [H2O]/[AOT]) and temperature on the forward extraction efficiency of DWGP were tested. On the basis of single-factor experiments, the optimum extraction was achieved by response surface methodology (RSM). The experimental results lead to the conclusion that the highest forward extraction efficiency of DWGP was reached at the AOT concentration 0.06 g/mL, pH 8, KCl concentration 0.1 mol/L, time 30 min, the amounts of DWGF 0.500 g, W0 25 and temperature 36 °C. Under these conditions, the forward extraction efficiency of DWGP achieved 37%.  相似文献

In this work, an ultrasound-assisted procedure for the extraction of defatted wheat germ proteins by reverse micelles was established. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize the ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) parameters (ultrasonic output power, ultrasonic time and pulse mode) for enhancing the forward extraction efficiency of defatted wheat germ proteins by implementing a three-level, three-variable Box–Behnken experimental design. The independent variable with the largest effect on response was X2 (ultrasonic time), followed by X1 (ultrasonic output power) and X3 (pulse mode). The optimum extraction conditions were found to be ultrasonic output power 363 W, ultrasonic time 24 min and pulse mode 2.4 s on and 2 s off (2.4 s:2 s). Under these conditions, the forward extraction efficiency of defatted wheat germ proteins can increase from 37% to 57%, and the final protein extraction efficiency by reverse micelles can reach 45.6%, making the advantage of reverse micelles much more obvious than alkaline extraction and isoelectric precipitation on the separation of protein.  相似文献

This work deals with the alkaline hydrolysis of brewer's spent grain (BSG) for the extraction of ferulic and p-coumaric acids, compounds of considerable interest for applications in the food, health, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. A 23 full factorial design with three replicates at the center point was used to investigate the simultaneous effects of the variables: NaOH concentration (1.0, 1.5 and 2.0%, w/v), temperature (80, 100 and 120 °C), and reaction time (30, 60 and 90 min), on the alkaline hydrolysis. The assays were performed using a solid:liquid ratio of 1:20 (w/w). The Student's t-test revealed a positive influence (p < 0.05) of all the studied variables on the ferulic and p-coumaric acids extraction from BSG. Linear models were well fitted (R2 > 0.90) to the experimental data to describe the extraction of these acids as a function of the operational variables employed. The best alkaline hydrolysis conditions consisted in using a 2% NaOH concentration, at 120 °C for 90 min. Under these conditions, a liquor containing 145.3 mg/l ferulic acid and 138.8 mg/l p-coumaric acid was obtained. These values corresponded to 9.65 mg ferulic acid and 9.22 mg p-coumaric acid per gram of solubilized lignin.  相似文献

Using data from large, grower-managed fields we investigated the variation in yield of dryland soybean in an area with low and variable summer rainfall, and soils that are variable in depth and poor in phosphorus (P). First, using data from unfertilised, wide-row (0.7 m) crops grown under standard management between 1989 and 1992 (Series 1), we quantified the relationship between yield and W, a rainfall-based estimate of water availability during the period of pod and grain set. Separate functions were established for deep (depth  1 m) and shallow soils (0.75 m  depth  0.5 m). Second, we partially tested these functions using two independent data sets (Series 2 and 3). Third, we evaluated the effects on yield of large (18 kg P ha−1, Series 4) or moderate doses of P fertiliser (8–12 kg P ha−1) in narrow-row crops (0.35 m, Series 5). To investigate water × management interaction we (i) calculated ΔY, the difference between actual yield in Series 4 and 5 and yield calculated with the functions derived from Series 1, and (ii) tested the association between ΔY and actual W. In a set of 24 crops (Series 1), yield varied between 2.1 and 3.1 t ha−1 in deep soils and between 1.3 and 2.6 t ha−1 in shallow soils; non-linear functions described fairly well, the response of yield to W. Fertilisation with 18 kg P ha−1 increased yield by 0.6 t ha−1 irrespective of water availability. The combination of narrow rows and a moderate dose of fertiliser increased yield in 73% of crops in deep soil but only in 53% of crops in shallow soil. There was a positive association between ΔY and W in deep soil but no relationship between these variables in shallow soil. Yield responses to management were thus differentially affected by rainfall in deep and shallow soils.  相似文献

Miscanthus × giganteus is one of the most promising biomass crops for non-food utilisation. Taking into account its area of origin (Far East), its temperature and rainfall requirements are not well satisfied in Mediterranean climate. For this purpose, a research was carried out with the aim of studying the adaptation of the species to the Mediterranean environment, and at analysing its ecophysiological and productive response to different soil water and nitrogen conditions. A split plot experimental design with three levels of irrigation (I1, I2 and I3 at 25%, 50% and 100% of maximum evapotranspiration (ETm), respectively) and three levels of nitrogen fertilisation (0 kg ha−1: N0, 60 kg ha−1: N1 and 120 kg ha−1: N2 of nitrogen) were studied. The crop showed a high yield potential under well-watered conditions (up to 27 t ha−1 of dry matter). M. × giganteus, in Mediterranean environment showed a high yield potential even in very limited water availability conditions (more than 14 t ha−1 with a 25% ETm restoration). A responsiveness to nitrogen supply, with great yield increases when water was not limiting, was exhibited. Water use efficiency (WUE) achieved the highest values in limited soil water availability (between 4.51 and 4.83 g l−1), whilst in non-limiting water conditions it decreased down to 2.56 and 3.49 g l−1 (in the second and third year of experiment, respectively). Nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) decreased with the increase of water distributed (from 190.5 g g−1 of I0 to 173.2 g g−1 of I2); in relation to N fertilisation it did not change between the N fertilised treatments (N1 and N2), being much higher in the unfertilised control (177.1 g g−1). Radiation use efficiency (NUE) progressively declined with the reduction of the N fertiliser level (1.05, 0.96 and 0.86 g d.m. MJ−1, in 1994, and 0.92, 0.91 and 0.69 g d.m. MJ−1, in 1995, for N2, N1 and N0, respectively).  相似文献

Water-use efficiency (WUEDM) is directly related to radiation-use efficiency (RUE) and inversely related to crop conductance (gc). We propose that reduced WUEDM caused by shortage of nitrogen results from a reduction in RUE proportionally greater than the fall in conductance. This hypothesis was tested in irrigated wheat crops grown with contrasting nitrogen supply; treatments were 0, 80 and 120 kg N ha−1 in 1998 and 0, 80, 120 and 160 kg N ha−1 in 1999. We measured shoot dry matter, yield, intercepted solar radiation and soil water balance components. From these measurements, we derived actual evapotranspiration (ET), soil evaporation and transpiration, WUEDM (slope of the regression between dry matter and ET), WUEY (ratio between grain yield and ET), RUE (slope of the regression between dry matter and intercepted radiation), and gc (slope of the regression between transpiration and intercepted radiation). Yield increased from 2.3 in unfertilised to an average 4.7 t ha−1 in fertilised crops, seasonal ET from 311 to 387 mm, WUEDM from 23 to 37 kg ha−1 mm−1, WUEY from 7.6 to 12.4 kg ha−1 mm−1, RUE from 0.85 to 1.07 g MJ−1, while the fraction of ET accounted for soil evaporation decreased from 0.20 to 0.11. In agreement with our hypothesis, RUE accounted for 60% of the variation in WUEDM, whereas crop conductance was largely unaffected by nitrogen supply. A greater fraction of evapotranspiration lost as soil evaporation also contributed to the lower WUEDM of unfertilised crops.  相似文献

An efficient and economical oil expression system that can operate on solar power in rural areas of underdeveloped and developing countries is needed. Recent improvements in both oil extraction and solar energy technologies have indicated the possibilities for fabricating oil extraction equipment. Thus, the objective of our study was to develop a simple oil expression unit capable of producing high quality oil based on solar energy in remote rural areas. A photovoltaic (PV), batch operated, low-pressure oil press, using a 190 W, 12 V dc motor, was designed, fabricated, and tested using coconut and groundnut as the raw material. Samples used in the study were ground to particle size between 500 μm and 2 mm and were pressed at 12 ± 1% moisture content. The press was evaluated based on the oil extraction efficiency (OEE), power consumption, and oil quality. The press had an average OEE of 73% for coconuts and 70% for groundnuts after 12 min of pressing. The oil expression efficiency was characterized by three main stages namely delayed, rapid, and retarded. The power consumption was affected greatly by the pressing time, with power consumption increasing with an increase in the pressing time. The specific energy consumption was found to increase significantly after 8 min of pressing and correlated with the compaction of the cake, which resulted in more power being required to express the entrapped oil. The expressed oil was fresh, free from foots, and of high quality with an average moisture content of 0.015% for coconut oil and 0.019% for groundnut. Analyses showed that the viscosities were 42.1 MPa s (coconut oil) and 59.1 MPa s (groundnut oil), at 25 °C. Overall, the press performed well and was comparable in performance to other types of presses.  相似文献

Three different experiments were designed to study the effects of N fertilizer rate, timing and splitting, and the response to combined application of N and S fertilizer on the bread-making quality of hard red spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) over a 3-year period in Vertisols under rainfed Mediterranean conditions. The following parameters were analyzed: grain yield, test weight, grain protein content, gluten index and alveograph parameters (W: alveogram index; P: dough tenacity; L: dough extensibility; P/L: tenacity–extensibility ratio). The N rate experiment included rates of 0, 100, 150 and 200 kg N ha−1 applied on four different sites. The experiment was designed as a randomized complete block with four blocks. For the experiment on N timing and splitting, a single rate of 150 kg N ha−1 was used, different fractions being applied at sowing, tillering and stem elongation, at a single site; again, experimental design was a randomized complete block with four blocks. Finally, for the experiment on the response to combined application of N and S fertilizer, a single fertilizer dose of 150 kg N ha−1 was applied in two forms (urea+ammonium nitrate and urea+ammonium nitrosulfate) with one leaf application at ear emergence (zero, 25 kg S ha−1, 25 kg N ha−1, 25kgSha−1+25 kg N ha−1 and 50 kg N ha−1), also at a single site, using a split-plot design with four replications. Year-on-year variation in rainfall led to marked variations in wheat yield, grain protein content and bread-making quality indices. A close correlation was observed between rainfall over the September–May period and both grain yield and grain protein content (optimum values for both being recorded in the rainfall range 500–550 mm) as well as the alveogram index. A negative correlation was observed between mean maximum temperatures in May and both test weight and alveogram index (W). N fertilizer rate had a more consistent effect on bread-making quality than on grain yield. The highest values for grain yield were recorded at an N rate of 100 kg ha−1, while maximum grain protein content values were recorded at 150 kg ha−1. Application of half or one-third of total fertilizer N at stem elongation improved grain yield and grain protein content with respect to applications at sowing alone or at both sowing and tillering. Increased N rates led to a considerable increase in W values and to a reduction in the P/L ratio, thus improving dough balance, with a negative effect on the gluten index. Leaf application of N at ear emergence only affected grain protein content and the W index. Soil or leaf application of S had no effect on protein quality indices. The response of grain yield and grain protein content to fertilizer N differed from that reported for temperate climates.  相似文献

Leaf area growth and nitrogen concentration per unit leaf area, Na (g m−2 N) are two options plants can use to adapt to nitrogen limitation. Previous work indicated that potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) adapts the size of leaves to maintain Na and photosynthetic capacity per unit leaf area. This paper reports on the effect of N limitation on leaf area production and photosynthetic capacity in maize, a C4 cereal. Maize was grown in two experiments in pots in glasshouses with three (0.84–6.0 g N pot−1) and five rates (0.5–6.0 g pot−1) of N. Leaf tip and ligule appearance were monitored and final individual leaf area was determined. Changes with leaf age in leaf area, leaf N content and light-saturated photosynthetic capacity, Pmax, were measured on two leaves per plant in each experiment. The final area of the largest leaf and total plant leaf area differed by 16 and 29% from the lowest to highest N supply, but leaf appearance rate and the duration of leaf expansion were unaffected. The N concentration of expanding leaves (Na or %N in dry matter) differed by at least a factor 2 from the lowest to highest N supply. A hyperbolic function described the relation between Pmax and Na. The results confirm the ‘maize strategy’: leaf N content, photosynthetic capacity, and ultimately radiation use efficiency is more sensitive to nitrogen limitation than are leaf area expansion and light interception. The generality of the findings is discussed and it is suggested that at canopy level species showing the ‘potato strategy’ can be recognized from little effect of nitrogen supply on radiation use efficiency, while the reverse is true for species showing the ‘maize strategy’ for adaptation to N limitation.  相似文献

Rotation of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and summer maize (Zea mays L.) is the prevailing double-cropping system in the North China Plain. Typically, winter wheat is planted at the beginning of October and harvested during early June. Maize is planted immediately after wheat and harvested around 25th of September. The growing season of maize is limited to about 100–110 days. How to rectify the sowing date of winter wheat and the harvest time of summer maize are two factors to achieve higher grain yield of the two crops. Three-year field experiments were carried out to compare the grain yield, evapotranspiration (ET), water use efficiency (WUE) and economic return under six combinations of the harvest time of summer maize and sowing date of winter wheat from 2002 to 2005. Yield of winter wheat was similar for treatments of sowing before 10th of October. Afterwards, yield of winter wheat was significantly reduced (P < 0.05) by 0.5% each day delayed in sowing. The kernel weight of maize was significantly increased (P < 0.05) by about 0.6% each day delayed from harvest before 5th of October. After 10th of October, kernel weight of maize was not significantly increased with the delay in harvest because of the lower temperature. The kernel weight of maize with thermal time was in a quadratic relationship. Total seasonal ET of winter wheat was reduced by 2.5 mm/day delayed in sowing and ET of maize was averagely increased by 2.0 mm/day delayed in harvest. The net income, benefit–cost and net profit per millimetre of water used of harvest maize at the beginning of October and sowing winter wheat around 10th of October were greater compared with other treatments. Then the common practice of harvest maize and sowing winter wheat in the region could be delayed by 5 days correspondingly.  相似文献

This investigation determined the functional properties of protein in Lesquerella fendleri seed and press cake from oil processing. L. fendleri seeds were heat-treated at 82 °C (180 °F) during 120 min residence time in the seed conditioner, and then screw-pressed to extract the oil. Unprocessed ground, defatted lesquerella seeds and press cakes were analyzed for proximate composition and protein functional properties. Protein from unprocessed lesquerella seed showed the greatest solubility (≥60%) at pH 2 and 10 and was least soluble (25%) at pH 5.5–7. Unprocessed lesquerella protein also had high surface hydrophobicity index (So), as well as, excellent foaming capacity and stability, emulsifying properties, and water-holding capacity (WHC) at pH 7. Protein solubility profile of the press cake showed up to 50% reduction in soluble proteins at nearly all pH levels, indicating heat denaturation during cooking and screw-pressing. Foaming capacity of the press cake protein decreased slightly, but foam stability was completely lost. Press cake protein also had markedly reduced values for So, emulsifying properties and WHC, further confirming lesquerella protein’s sensitivity to heat treatment.  相似文献

The pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.) crop retains appreciable amounts of green foliage even after reaching physiological maturity, which if allowed to defoliate, could augment the residual benefit of pigeonpea to the following wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in a pigeonpea–wheat rotation. The effect of addition of leaves present on mature pigeonpea crop to the soil was examined on the following wheat during the 1999/2000 growing season at Patancheru (17°4′N, 78°2′E) and during the 2001–2003 growing seasons at Modipuram (29°4′N, 77°8′E). At Patancheru, an extra-short-duration pigeonpea cultivar ICPL 88039 was defoliated manually and using foliar sprays of 10% urea (30 kg/ha) and compared with a millet (Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R.Br.) crop, naturally senesced leaf residue and no-leaf residue controls. At Modipuram, the effect of 10% urea spray treatment on mature ICPL 88039 was compared with the unsprayed control. At both locations, the rainy season crops were followed by a wheat cultivar UP 2338 at four nitrogen levels applied in a split plot design, which at Patancheru were 0, 30, 90 and 120 kg N ha−1 and at Modipuram 0, 60, 120 and 180 kg N ha−1. At Patancheru, urea spray added 0.5 t ha−1 of extra leaf litter to the soil within a week without significantly affecting pigeonpea yield. This treatment, however, increased mean wheat yield by 29% from 2.4 t ha−1 in the no-leaf residue pigeonpea or pearl millet plots to 3.1 t ha−1. At Modipuram, the foliar sprays of urea added more leaf litter to the soil than at Patancheru. Here, increase in subsequent wheat yield due to additional pigeonpea leaf litter was 7–8% and net profit 21% more than in the unsprayed control. The addition of pigeonpea leaf litter to the soil resulted in a saving of 40–60 kg N for the following wheat crops in both the environments. The results demonstrated that pigeonpea leaf litter could play an important role in the fertilizer N economy in wheat. The urea spray at maturity of the standing pigeonpea crop significantly improved this contribution in increasing wheat yield, the effect of which was additional to the amount of urea used for inducing defoliation. The practice, if adopted by farmers, may enhance sustainability of wheat production system in an environmentally friendly way, as it could reduce the amount of fertilizer N application to soil and enhance wheat yield.  相似文献

The genetic control determining the days to flowering, defined as the number of days from emergence to the beginning of flowering is considered an important characteristic for breeding purpose. We investigated this factor in kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.), as part of an agroindustrial project in northwest Argentina. A diallelic cross approach was considered in this study. Six highly inbred photosensitive cultivars were used in the cross, namely, Endora, Pandora, Tainung 1, Line 42, Line 21, and Line 29. Significant differences among F1 family means as well as among general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) components were found based on the Griffing genetic-statistical method IV, Model 1. A predominant additive effect was detected for the days to flowering, giving high heritability estimates (H = DGD = 0.96; h2 = 0.69), and suggests the possibility of effective selection for earliness in these cultivars. Early flowering in Line 29 was highly heritable, and therefore, is important for breeding purposes. Line 42, despite being the earliest, did not transmit this characteristic to its progenies, possibly because of epistatic genetic effects. The regression of the covariances of F1 families on the non-recurrent parent (Wr) and the variance of the “n” families (Vr) revealed that some dominance effects also occurred in the form of a partial dominance for early flowering. These results support the evidences revealed by the analysis of means of combinations between early and late flowering lines.  相似文献

Applications of ultrahigh CO2 treatments accelerated cuphea (Cuphea viscosissima × C. lanceolata ‘PSR23’) growth and development and aided in seedling establishment. The growth (fresh weight) and morphogenesis (number of leaves and roots and seedling length) were determined in cuphea seedlings exposed to 350, 1500, 3000, 10,000, or 30,000 μmol mol−1 CO2 for 30 days under greenhouse conditions. Greater CO2 levels, especially the ultrahigh levels (i.e. ≥3000 μmol mol−1 CO2) resulted in significantly higher (P  0.05) fresh weights, leaf numbers, root numbers, and seedling lengths compared to seedlings grown under ambient air (350 μmol mol−1 CO2). For example, cuphea ‘PSR23’ Morris heavy seedlings showed the greatest seedling fresh weight, leaf number, root number, and seedling length when supplemented with 10,000 μmol mol−1 CO2 increasing 607%, 184%, 784%, and 175%, respectively, when compared to seedlings grown without CO2 enrichment.  相似文献

Structure and health effects of inulin-type fructans have been extensively studied, while less is known about the properties of the graminan-type fructans in wheat. Arabinoxylan (AX) is another important indigestible component in cereal grains, which may have beneficial health effects. In this study, the fructan content in milling fractions of two wheat cultivars was determined and related to ash, dietary fibre and AX contents. The molecular weight distribution of the fructans was analysed with HPAEC-PAD and MALDI-TOF MS using 1H NMR and enzymatic hydrolysis for identification of fructans. The fructan content (g/100 g) ranged from 1.5 ± 0.2 in flour to 3.6 ± 0.5 in shorts and 3.7 ± 0.3 in bran. A correlation was found between fructan content and dietary fibre content (r = 0.93, P < 0.001), but with a smaller variation in fructan content between inner and outer parts of the grain. About 50% of the dietary fibre consisted of AX in all fractions. The fructans were found to have a DP of up to 19 with a similar molecular weight distribution in the different fractions.  相似文献

Malnutrition related to micronutrient deficiency can create immense economic and societal problems. The objective of this study was to quantify the mineral element concentration distribution in milled fractions, using 43 common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars sown in Jinan, China during the 2005–2006 crop season. All 43 cultivars had low Fe (average 28.2 mg Kg−1) and Zn (28.6 mg Kg−1) concentrations, and wide ranges of variation for mineral element concentrations. Highly significant effects among milling fractions and cultivars on all traits were observed, with fraction effect being the larger. There was an uneven distribution of mineral element concentrations in wheat grain. Shorts and bran fractions had the highest mineral element concentrations, whereas flours from break and reduction had low concentrations. Compared with those in the central endosperm, the concentration of inorganic phosphorus (Pi) decreased the most with decreasing flour yield, whereas the concentration of phytic acid P (PAP), phytase activity, and Ca decreased the least. Pi was the most concentrated element in the aleurone, whereas PAP, phytase activity, and Ca were the least, compared to those in the central endosperm. Milling technique through adjusting flour yield can be used to improve the element composition of flour.  相似文献

Steam explosion of corn stalk in the presence of 3% sulphuric acid at 200 °C for 5 min gave the highest recovery of lignin. Lignin has Mw = 2640 and Mz = 93,994. In the UV spectrum absorptions at λ = 231 and 280 nm were recorded. 1H NMR spectrum of lignin showed signals attributable to cinnamaldehyde units, guaiacyl units, and syringyl units. Syringyl and guaiacyl units are in 1:1 ratio. 13C NMR spectrum showed signals for guaiacyl, syringyl, and p-hydroxyphenyl units. The spectrum showed a prevalence of guaiacyl units. The 13C NMR spectrum is in agreement with the presence of cinnamic units. The same characterization was performed on lignin from pine. The irradiation of lignin from pine from steam explosion process in the presence of oxygen, in conditions described for the formation of superoxide ion, for different irradiation time was followed isolating the lignin and determining the average molecular weight. The experiments showed that, until 8 h irradiation, Mn decreases, while Mw and Mz increases. After 8 h irradiation an inverse behaviour was observed, with an increase of Mn and a decrease of Mw and Mz. These results are in agreement with an initial polymerization process followed by a photoinduced degradation. Ozonization was carried out in acetonitrile–methanol solution. The reaction showed a zero-order kinetics. After 50 min the average molecular weight of lignin is the half. The reaction mixture was analyzed by using GC–MS. Oxalic acid was determined.  相似文献

One of the main sources of considerable amounts of chloride to soils is irrigation water. The responses of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) to chloride are varied and inconsistent depending on the tobacco type, variety and methods of fertilization, cultivation and harvesting used. In this work, the impact of the interaction between four chloride levels (10, 20, 40, 80 mg L−1) in irrigation water and three nitrogen fertilizer forms (NO3–N 100%, NH4–N 100% and NO3–N 50%:NH4–N 50%) on growth, agronomic and chemical characteristics of Virginia tobacco was evaluated over 2 years (1999, 2000) in an outdoor pot experiment. The results showed that the adverse influence of chloride in irrigation water on plant height and number of leaves per plant was already substantial above 40 mg L−1, within 30 days after transplanting. In this period, visual toxicity symptoms of chloride appeared on the lower leaves of plants treated with ammonium nitrogen. In addition, the effect of chloride on flowering time, chlorophyll content of leaves, aboveground fresh weight of plant, total cured product yield and chemical characteristics, depended on the form of nitrogen, with nitrate nitrogen restricting the detrimental effects of chloride in irrigation water up to 40 mg L−1. The reduced yield of cured product at 80 mg L−1 was the result of the adverse effects of chloride on the leaves of the middle and upper stalk position. Leaf chloride concentration was highest in the upper leaves and increased linearly with the increase of chloride level in irrigation water at each leaf position on the stalk and this increase was more rapid as ammonium nitrogen percentage was increased. Chloride increased the concentration of reducing sugars in cured leaves at each leaf position, in all nitrogen forms and nicotine mainly in plants treated with nitrate nitrogen. The changes in total nitrogen and ash content are considered as minimal. We conclude that the optimum chloride level in irrigation water is below 20 mg L−1, whereas the level of 40 mg L−1 in combination with nitrate nitrogen fertilizers can be considered as the upper threshold to avoid adverse effects on Virginia tobacco.  相似文献

Urban and peri-urban agriculture (UPA) contributes significantly to meet increasing food demands of the rapidly growing urban population in West Africa. The intensive vegetable cultivation in UPA gardens with its high nutrient inputs is often reported to operate at large surpluses of nutrients and presumably high turnover rates of organic matter (OM) and nitrogen (N) losses via emanation and leaching. Many of these claims are lacking solid data which would allow suggesting mitigation strategies. Therefore, this study aimed at quantifying gaseous emissions of ammonia (NH3), nitrous oxide (N2O), and carbon dioxide (CO2) in three representative urban gardens of Niamey, Niger using a closed chamber gas monitoring system. Mean annual N emissions (NH3-N and N2O-N) in two gardens using river water for irrigation reached 53 and 48 kg N ha?1 yr?1, respectively, while 25 and 20 Mg C ha?1 yr?1 was lost as CO2-C. In the garden irrigated with sewage water from the city's main wadi, N2O was the main contributor to N losses (68%) which together with NH3 reached 92 kg N ha?1 yr?1, while CO2-C emissions amounted to 26 Mg ha?1 yr?1. Our data indicate that 28% of the total gaseous C emissions and 30–40% of the N emissions occur during the hot dry season from March to May and another 20–25% and 10–20% during the early rainy season from June to July. Especially during these periods more effective nutrient management strategies in UPA vegetable gardens should be applied to increase the nutrient use efficiency in UPA vegetable gardens.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to investigate the mechanisms of action and to evaluate the potential application of Desmos chinensis extracts for controlling rice sheath blight. The dichloromethane extract from D. chinensis demonstrated high antifungal activity against Rhizoctonia solani. The extract was shown to have anti-R. solani activity with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum fungicidal concentration values ranging from 31.2 to 62.5 μg mL−1 and from 62.5 to 500 μg mL−1, respectively. Bioautography on thin-layer chromatography plates demonstrated antifungal activity of the extract with an Rf value of 0.33. A total of 7 compounds, 2 benzoate esters (benzyl benzoate and benzyl 2-hydroxybenzoate), 2 sesquiterpenoids (α-eudesmol and β-eudesmol), 1 aromatic alcohol (benzyl alcohol), 1 aromatic ketone (acetophenone) and 1 diterpenoid (phytol), were detected and identified using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis. Electron micrographs confirmed the effects of the extract on morphological and ultrastructural alterations in the treated fungal cells. The micrographs of the mycelia treated with the extract at 4MIC illustrated aberrant morphology such as shrinkage, partial distortion and globular structures of different sizes along the surface of the mycelia. Damaging membranous structures including disruption of the cell membrane, partial loss of nuclear membranes, and depletion of hyphal cytoplasm and membranous organelles were observed. Foliar application of D. chinensis extract at a concentration of 2 mg mL−1 on rice markedly decreased sheath blight severity. It was concluded that the application of D. chinensis extract can be used as a botanical fungicide to control rice sheath blight.  相似文献
