试验旨在建立高效的经产母猪定时输精(timed artificial insemination,TAI)技术,研究了定时输精对经产母猪繁殖性能、断奶-分娩间隔、不同胎次母猪产仔性能及断奶后7 d内血清生殖激素水平的影响。选取309头2~8胎次二元(长×大)经产母猪,随机分为对照组和试验组,对照组母猪进行常规人工授精(artificial insemination,AI),试验组母猪进行断奶后24 h注射PMSG 1 000 IU,间隔72 h注射GnRH 100 μg,在注射GnRH后24和40 h各输精1次的定时输精技术。通过统计两组母猪的断奶1周内发情率、受胎率、分娩率、窝均产仔数等,判断定时输精对经产母猪繁殖性能的影响;通过对断奶时间和分娩时间的统计,检测定时输精对经产母猪断奶-分娩间隔的影响;用放射免疫(RIA)方法检测2~4胎次母猪断奶1周内血清E2、LH、FSH和P4的含量,研究定时输精对母猪生殖激素的影响。结果显示,试验组母猪发情率显著高于对照组(P<0.05),但两组间受胎率、分娩率差异不显著(P>0.05),窝均产仔数、窝均合格仔数和繁殖效率有增加的趋势,但差异不显著(P>0.05);定时输精显著缩短了母猪的断奶-分娩间隔(P<0.05)。在胎次方面,3~4胎母猪使用定时输精的效果较好,其发情率、受胎率和分娩率均显著高于对照组(P<0.05)。在生殖激素方面,试验组E2水平在注射PMSG后迅速上升,且在定时输精处理后66~96 h内持续高于对照组(P<0.05),试验组P4水平在断奶后至配种前显著低于对照组(P<0.05),但配种后快速升高,并高于对照组;LH和FSH的含量在两组间无显著差异。综上,定时输精可有效提高经产母猪的断奶发情率,并减少其非生产天数,可显著提高3~4胎母猪的繁殖性能。  相似文献

The current experiment was carried out to determine whether exogenous GnRH treatment in primiparous, lactating sows undergoing feed restriction would improve reproductive performance after weaning. Sows were allocated to one of three treatments: AA sows (n = 8) were fed to appetite throughout a 28-d lactation, AR (n = 12) and AR + GnRH (n = 12) sows were fed as AA sows from farrowing to d 21 of lactation, and feed intake was reduced to 50% of the ad libitum intakes from d 22 to 28. The AR + GnRH sows received 800 ng of GnRH i.v. every 6 h from d 22 to 28 of lactation, and AA and AR sows received saline. Sow weight, backfat, and litter weight were recorded weekly. Within 2 d after farrowing, litter size was standardized to 8 to 10. At d 17 of lactation, an indwelling jugular catheter was surgically implanted in each sow. Blood samples were taken for characterization of plasma LH, FSH, insulin, IGF-I, and leptin by RIA at d 21 and before and after weaning on d 28 of lactation. After weaning, all sows were given ad libitum access to feed, checked for onset of standing estrus twice daily with mature vasectomized boars, and inseminated 12 and 24 h after onset of standing estrus with pooled semen from the same fertile boars (3 x 10(9) sperm/AI). After breeding, feed allowance was reduced to NRC (1988) requirements for gestation. At d 28 +/- 3 of gestation, sows were killed and ovulation rate and embryo survival were determined. Restricted sows lost more weight during lactation than AA sows (P < .02). During the period of feed restriction, plasma IGF-I and postprandial insulin and leptin in AR and AR + GnRH sows, and LH pulse frequency in AR sows, were lower than those in AA sows (P < .04). Associations (P < .004) between plasma insulin and leptin and between leptin and mean LH concentrations were established. The LH pulse frequency in AR + GnRH sows did not differ from that in AA sows before weaning. After weaning, maximum, mean, and minimum LH concentrations in the AA and AR sows, and FSH concentrations in AR sows, increased (P < .05) in response to weaning. Paradoxically, GnRH treatment in lactation seemed to suppress the expected LH and FSH responses to weaning. Ovulation rate and embryo survival were not different among the three groups. In conclusion, although exogenous GnRH therapy restored LH secretion in feed-restricted sows, it did not improve overall reproductive performance.  相似文献

A lactation trial involving 105 sows was conducted to determine the effect of 12% roasted or raw, ground, whole, shelled peanuts on sow weight change during lactation, feed intake, piglet and litter weight gain, milk composition, and days to return to postweaning estrus. The trial was conducted using three sow groups during two farrowing seasons, summer (July to September) and winter (December to February). Diets were based on corn plus soybean meal. Diets contained either 5% animal fat or equivalent added fat from 12% roasted or raw, ground, shelled peanuts. The replacement of animal fat by roasted or raw peanuts had no effect (P greater than .20) on sow weight change, average daily feed intake during lactation or days to estrus postweaning, or on piglet weight gain or survival. Milk composition (percentage fat and protein) was not altered (P greater than .20) by source of fat in the summer; however, in the winter, sows fed roasted peanuts had higher (P less than .05) milk fat and protein percentage at 3 d postfarrowing than other treatment groups. At d 7, sows fed 12% roasted or raw peanuts had higher (P less than .05) milk protein than sows fed 5% animal fat. Sows farrowing in the summer had greater (P less than .01) weight loss and consumed less (P less than .05) feed during lactation than sows farrowing in the winter. Seventeen Landrace X Large White primiparous sows that farrowed in August 1982 were fed ad libitum (AL, n = 8) or their intakes were restricted (R, n = 9) during lactation. Litter sizes were equalized after farrowing and pigs were not allowed creep feed. Pigs were weaned 23.8 +/- .4 d postpartum. On d 6, 12 and 20 postpartum, all sows were fasted for 16 h and blood samples were collected prior to feeding for analysis of plasma glucose (GLU), urea nitrogen (UN), free fatty acids (FFA), prolactin (PRL) and serum insulin (INS). On d -2, 2 and 4 from weaning, sows were fasted for 16 h and then blood samples were collected hourly from 0 to 6 postprandial for analysis of GLU, UN, FFA, PRL and INS. Serum for analysis of luteinizing hormone (LH), progesterone and estradiol was collected every 6 h from 1 d before until 12 d after weaning. Samples for LH were also collected at 15-min intervals for 3 h at -18, -6, 6, 18, 78, 102, 126, 150, 240 and 480 h from weaning. After weaning all sows were fed 1.8 kg X d-1, and were checked for estrus twice daily. Daily intakes of metabolizable energy (ME) during lactation were greater in AL (12,194 +/- 465 kcal) than in R sows (8,144 +/- 90 kcal). Compared with AL sows, R sows lost more weight and backfat during lactation and had higher postprandial UN levels 2 d before and 4 d after weaning. Reproductive performance and reproductive hormones were not affected by restriction of energy, but frequency of episodic release of LH prior to weaning was greater in sows that exhibited estrus after weaning (n = 12) than in anestrous sows (n = 5). After weaning, LH and estradiol concentrations were similar between estrous and anestrous sows until onset of the preovulatory increase in estradiol in the sows that exhibited estrus. Energy intake, body condition and productivity were similar between anestrous sows and sows that exhibited estrus. On d 12 and 20 of lactation, preprandial levels of GLU were greater and FFA were lower in anestrous than estrous sows. We conclude that restriction of feed intake during lactation affected body condition and metabolism of primiparous sows, but reproductive performance and productivity were not affected. Aberrations in partitioning of energy during lactation may predispose primiparous sows to postweaning anestrus, but the mechanisms by which this occurs have yet to be defined.  相似文献

Lactating, primiparous Landrace x Yorkshire sows were used to characterize LH secretion during lactation in sows that experienced an early (less than 9 d; n = 14) or late (greater than 15 d; n = 9) return to estrous postweaning and to evaluate the relationship between LH secretion and blood metabolites. Twenty-three sows were fed one of nine corn-soybean meal diets to achieve a matrix of lysine (15 to 45 g/d) and energy (6.5 to 16.5 Mcal of ME/d) intakes and a range in metabolite concentrations and return-to-estrus intervals. Blood samples for LH analysis were collected every 15 min for 6 h on d 0, 7, 14, 21, and 28 of lactation. Circulating concentrations of glucose, amino acids, insulin, triglycerides, urea N, and nonesterified fatty acids also were measured on d 7 and 21. Mean LH concentrations were .27 and .42 ng/mL at farrowing for sows with an early and late return to estrus, respectively, but decreased (P less than .01) to .12 ng/mL by d 7 in both early and late groups. Mean LH and number of LH peaks per 6 h increased linearly (P less than .01) from d 7 to 28 for early sows. Early sows had a higher LH mean and more LH peaks per 6 h on d 14, 21, and 28 than did late sows (P less than .05). Early sows had higher serum insulin on d 7 (P less than .05) and d 21 (P less than .01) than did late sows. Two experiments were conducted to examine the effectiveness of various strategies using gonadotropins to induce ovulation during lactation as a means of controlling the weaning-to-estrus interval in sows. The objective of Exp. 1 was to examine the efficacy of various gonadotropin regimens for induction of ovulation during lactation. Primiparous (n = 60) and multiparous (n = 83) crossbred sows were assigned, before farrowing, to one of four treatments: no injection (control); 1,000 IU hCG on d 0 (hCG-0; d 0 = day of farrowing); P.G. 600 + 1,000 IU hCG 4 and 7 d after farrowing, respectively (hCG-7); or P.G. 600 + 1,000 IU hCG 11 and 14 d after farrowing, respectively (hCG-14). Sows were weaned on 18 +/- 2 d after farrowing and monitored daily for estrus via exposure to mature boars. The criterion for determining the induction of ovulation was a sustained increase in serum progesterone concentrations above 4.0 ng/mL. The most consistent response to exogenous gonadotropins was on d 0, with an 80% response in primiparous sows (12/15) and a 71% response in multiparous sows (15/21). Weaning-to-estrus intervals for multiparous sows were longer (P = .05) for hCG-14 and hCG-7 than for control and hCG-0 sows. Weaning-to-estrus intervals for primiparous sows were longer (P = .05) for the hCG-14 than for the hCG-0 treatment. The objective of Exp. 2 was to ascertain the effects of postpartum treatment with hCG (1,000 IU) on d 0 and PGF2alpha (10 mg) at d 14 on the weaning-to-estrus interval in multiparous sows weaned at d 14 after birth. Before farrowing, sows (n = 60) were randomly assigned to one of four treatments: positive control, weaning at d 21; negative control, weaning at d 14; hCG within 24 h after farrowing, weaning at d 14; or hCG within 24 h after farrowing and PGF2alpha at weaning, weaning at d 14. Weaning-to-estrus intervals were longer (P = .05) in sows receiving PGF2alpha than in the other treatments. Results indicate that it is possible to induce ovulation immediately after farrowing, using a single injection of hCG, and this strategy can be used to uncouple weaning from the resumption of reproductive activity. However, the administration of PGF2alpha at 14 d after farrowing did not consistently cause regression of the induced corpora lutea.  相似文献

Two experiments were conducted to determine the voluntary feed intake and performance of lactating sows fed diets containing a sucrose/milk chocolate product (MCP) blend (Exp. 1) or dried porcine solubles (DPS; Exp. 2). Dried porcine solubles is a coproduct of heparin extraction from porcine small intestines. In Exp. 1, mixed-parity sows (n = 108) at two research centers were assigned to a corn-soybean-meal-based diet formulated to contain 0.9% total lysine or a similar diet that contained 4% sucrose and 2% MCP on an as-fed basis. Sows were allowed ad libitum access to dietary treatments from the day of farrowing until pigs were weaned at approximately 21 d postpartum. Diet had no significant effect on voluntary feed intake of sows during lactation, backfat depth, or postweaning interval to estrus, but it had variable effects on body weight changes. Inclusion of the sucrose/MCP blend in diets elicited a 2% improvement in litter weaning weight at one research center and a 6% depression in litter weaning weight at the other center (diet x research center, P < 0.05). Litter size throughout lactation was unaffected by dietary treatment. In Exp. 2, mixed-parity sows (n = 119) at two research centers were assigned to corn-soybean meal-based diets formulated to contain 0.9% total lysine with 0, 1.5, or 3.0% added DPS. Sows were assigned to dietary treatments within research center, farrowing group, and parity at parturition. Dried porcine solubles tended to increase (P < 0.10) total feed consumed in the first 9 d of lactation and average daily feed intake over the entire lactation (6.03, 6.53, and 6.30 kg) for sows fed 0, 1.5, and 3.0% DPS, respectively. Litter size and weight on d 18 of lactation were not affected by concentration of DPS in the diet. Days from weaning to estrus and percentage of sows displaying estrus were not influenced by diet. We conclude that inclusion of the sucrose/MCP blend in the diet for lactating sows had no consistent effect on voluntary feed intake of sows and weight gain of nursing pigs. Inclusion of DPS at 1.5 or 3.0% tended to improve feed intake of lactating sows but had no significant influence on litter performance.  相似文献

The endocrine function of the individual components of the hypothalamo-hypophyseal-ovarian axis of the postweaning anestrous sow was evaluated by monitoring the sow's response to exogenous estradiol, gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH), and gonadotropins. Sows (4 to 6/group) not returning to estrus by 42.8 +/- 3.1 days after weaning were assigned to 1 of the following treatments: 10 micrograms of estradiol benzoate (EB)/kg of body weight; 200 micrograms of GnRH, 1,000 IU of pregnant mare's serum gonadotropin (PMSG); 1,000 IU of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG); or 4 ml of saline solution plus 2 ml of corn oil. A preovulatory-like surge of luteinizing hormone [(LH) greater than 12 hours in duration] was observed in all weaned sows treated with EB. All EB-treated sows exhibited estrus and ovulated but none conceived. Sows given GnRH had transiently increased (less than 3 hours) LH concentrations that were not associated with estrus or ovulation. Treatment with PMSG caused an increase in peripheral concentrations of 17 beta-estradiol that was followed by an LH surge, estrus, ovulation, and conception. Treatment with HCG caused an increase in circulating concentrations of 17 beta-estradiol that was accompanied by a surge of LH in some sows and ovulation in all sows. Not all sows treated with HCG exhibited estrous behavior, but conception occurred in 2 of 3 sows that were mated at estrus. During the summer and fall of 1987, sows from eight herds in three states were assigned randomly to receive either a combination of 400 IU of pregnant mare's serum gonadotropin with 200 IU of hCG (P.G. 600) or no treatment at weaning. A treatment x parity interaction was observed for days to first estrus after treatment and percentage anestrus (percentage of sows not achieving estrus within 10 d after weaning). Relative to primiparous control sows, primiparous sows given P.G. 600 expressed estrus sooner (P less than .02) after weaning (6.0 vs 7.8 +/- .6 d) and exhibited less (P less than .02) postweaning anestrus (15.6 vs 29.2 +/- 4.0%). Second parity sows that received P.G. 600 showed estrus sooner (P less than .06) than second-parity control sows (4.7 vs 6.4 +/- .7 d). Days to first estrus after treatment did not differ between groups for parity-three and older sows, and percentage anestrus was not different between treatments for parity-two and older sows. The herd X treatment interaction was significant for percentage recycled (percentage of successfully mated sows that returned to estrus), subsequent farrowing rate, and subsequent number of pigs born dead. Number of pigs born alive was lower for sows treated with P.G. 600 than for control sows (10.55 vs 10.10 +/- .18; P less than .02). In summary, treatment of sows weaned in the summer and fall with P.G. 600 had decreased days to postweaning estrus in parity-one and -two sows and reduced frequency of postweaning anestrus in primiparous sows.  相似文献

Forty-five crossbred primiparous sows were used to determine the relationship of lactation energy intake and the occurrence of postweaning estrus to (1) body fat (percentage), (2) lean body mass (LBM) and (3) qualitative and quantitative characteristics of adipose tissue. Sows received 8 (Lo) or 16 (Hi) Mcal of metabolizable energy (ME)/d during lactation and 5.4 Mcal of ME/d postweaning. Serum samples were obtained 1 d before weaning (d 0) and analyzed for creatinine and urea-N (indices of muscle and amino acid catabolism, respectively). Subcutaneous adipose tissue samples were obtained and analyzed for total lipid and myristic, palmitic, palmitoleic, stearic, oleic and linoleic acids. Last rib backfat thickness determined at weaning was used to estimate body fat (percentage). Lean body mass was estimated from 48-h creatinine excretion rates determined on d 15 and 16 postweaning. Sows fed the Lo diet that returned (Lo-R) and did not return (Lo-NR) to estrus by d 14 postweaning lost more (P less than .01) weight during lactation, gained more (P less than .01) weight postweaning, had higher (P less than .07) body fat (percentage) and a slight trend toward lower creatinine excretion rate than sows fed the Hi diet that returned to estrus (Hi-R). Adipose tissue from sows in the Lo-R and Lo-NR groups had less (P less than .05) lipid than that from sows in the Hi-R group. Three experiments were conducted to evaluate sow and piglet productivity under extended photoperiod. In Exp. 1, 98 crossbred, lactating sows were housed in one of four treatments: thermoneutral air temperature (23.6 degrees C) in either (h of light:dark) 1:23 or 16:8 photoperiods, or heat stress (30.4 degrees C) in either 1:23 or 16:8 photoperiods. Heat stress reduced (P less than .05) sow feed intake, piglet mortality and piglet weaning weight and increased (P less than .01) sow lactation weight loss. Number of pigs weaned per litter was increased (P less than .01) when sows were heat-stressed. Extended photoperiod reduced (P greater than .05) time for sows to rebreed postweaning by .4 d. The interaction between air temperature and photoperiod was significant only for sow lactation weight loss. Heat stress increased sow lactation weight loss, but this effect was more severe in the 1:23 than in the 16:8 photoperiod. Experiments 2 and 3 examined the effects of 1:23 or 16:8 photoperiods on nursery pig performance when pigs were weaned from sows experiencing 1:23 (Exp. 3) or 16:8 (Exp. 2) photoperiods. In both nursery studies, photoperiod did not influence (P greater than .10) postweaning pig mortality, feed intake, weight gain or gain:feed ratio. In conclusion, extended photoperiod reduced days to return to estrus and reduced sow lactation weight loss, especially during heat stress. No benefits in preweaning or postweaning piglet weight or survival were observed by use of extended photoperiod.  相似文献

为了减少人工授精过程中人为操作引入的病原微生物,改善母猪断奶后不发情、延迟发情或发情后配种不受孕所导致的母猪繁殖性能降低的现象,在饲养管理良好、免疫程序健全的条件下,试验采用在母猪配种前对其进行药物处理。将试验母猪随机分为2组,A组为断奶经产母猪(n=65),B组为第2情期后的后备母猪(n=58)。将A组进一步分为A-Ⅰ组(n=36,投药组)和A-Ⅱ组(n=29,空白对照组),B组进一步分为B-Ⅰ组(n=34,投药组)和B-Ⅱ组(n=24,空白对照组)。统计发情率、受胎率、分娩率及产仔数等繁殖指标。结果表明:A-Ⅰ组每头母猪断奶10 d内发情率为100%,与A-Ⅱ组发情率(96.55%)相比差异不显著(P>0.05);A-Ⅰ组情期受胎率为91.67%,分娩率为86.11%,产仔数为11.32头,而A-Ⅱ组情期受胎率为85.71%,分娩率为78.57%,产仔数为9.95头,差异均显著(P<0.05);B组内,除健仔数外其余各指标差异均不显著(P>0.05)。说明在配种前给经产母猪投药,可以改善母猪繁殖力。  相似文献

Our objective was to study the effects of dietary energy source (fat or starch) on periestrus hormone profiles and embryonal survival in primiparous sows. During lactation, 48 primiparous sows were fed either a starch-rich or a fat-rich diet, at either a high (44 MJ NE/d) or a low (33 MJ NE/d) feeding level. After weaning, all sows received the same amount of feed (31 MJ NE/d from weaning to estrus and 17.5 MJ NE/d from breeding to slaughter) of the same dietary energy source fed during lactation. Around estrus, blood samples were taken to analyze the preovulatory LH surge, estradiol (E2), and progesterone (P4). Sows were inseminated on each day of standing estrus. On d 35 after last insemination, all 35 pregnant sows were slaughtered and their reproductive tracts were removed. The number, weight, and length of the embryos and placentas were determined as well as the weight and length of the uterus. The LH, E2, and P4 profiles were similar for the treatment groups, except for the E2 levels at 16, 12, and 8 h before the LH surge, which were lower in the sows fed the fat-rich diet at a low level. Ovulation rate tended to be higher in sows fed the high compared to the low feeding level during lactation (18.0 vs. 16.2; P = .09), but the number of total and viable embryos as well as embryonal survival rate were not influenced by the treatments. Neither uterine length and weight nor length and weight of the embryos and placentas were affected by treatments. However, after removal of the embryo-placental units, uterine weight was greater in sows fed the high than in those fed the low feeding level during lactation (1.8 vs. 1.6 kg; P = .03). Plasma insulin concentration during lactation was not related to any of the uterine, placental, or embryo traits. Mean progesterone concentration between 24 and 250 h after the LH surge was positively correlated with embryonal survival. Differences in progesterone concentration between sows with high and low embryonal survival were evident from 172 h after the LH surge. From the present study, we conclude that altering feeding level during lactation or dietary energy source from farrowing until d 35 of subsequent pregnancy did not affect embryonic development and embryonal survival.  相似文献

We compared estrous and farrowing traits in 274 Duroc X Yorkshire sows penned either in individual gestation stalls or in groups (four or five sows/group) during the intervals from weaning to breeding and from breeding to 30 to 35 d after breeding. Sows were assigned to treatment by parity (primiparous vs multiparous), checked twice daily for estrus from 3 to 10 d after weaning and artificially inseminated (AI) twice during estrus. Ovaries of anestrous sows were examined at laparotomy. No major treatment effects on estrous response were detected and 88% (45/51) of anestrous sows had only small ovarian follicles. Litter traits were not affected by penning treatments. However, penning sows in groups postbreeding resulted in a 50% reduction (P less than .05) in early pregnancy losses as indicated by low serum progesterone 19 to 23 d after AI or return to estrus by 23 d after AI. This resulted in a 12 percentage point higher (P less than .05) farrowing rate for group-penned (78%) than for individually penned sows (66%).  相似文献

This research was conducted to determine factors that influence duration of estrus, AI strategy, and reproduction results between and within commercial swine farms that use AI. Data from 15,186 sows and gilts on 55 farms for a period of 6.1+/-4.2 mo per farm were used in this study. The average duration of estrus was 48.4+/-1.0 h, ranging from 31 to 64 h, and was consistent from month to month within a farm (repeatability of 86%). Differences in duration of estrus between farms accounted for 23% of the total variation in duration of estrus. On most farms (n = 45), gilts showed a shorter (P < .05) duration of estrus than sows (40.8+/-1.1 h vs 48.5+/-1.0 h). The duration of first estrus after weaning was longer (P < .0001) compared with that of repeat-breeder sows (50.2+/-1.0 h vs 46.8+/-1.0 h). Duration of estrus decreased (P < .05) when interval from weaning to estrus increased from 4 to 6 d (56.0 +/- 1.2 h vs 45.8 +/-1.2 h). The regression of interval from onset to estrus to first AI and interval from weaning to estrus varied between farms and ranged from -7.4 to +1.3 h/d; four farms had a positive relationship. Farrowing rate decreased (P < .05) from 89.7+/-2.7% to 78.2+/-5.74 when the interval from weaning to estrus increased from 4 to 10 d. The litter size decreased (P < .05) from 11.7 to 10.6 pigs when the interval from weaning to estrus increased from 4 to 7 d. Compared with a single AI, double AI in sows and gilts resulted in a 4.3 and 7.0% higher (P < .05) farrowing rate, respectively. When the first AI was performed after expected ovulation, reproduction results were lower than when AI was performed before or at expected ovulation in sows. Duration of estrus was not related to farrowing rate or litter size in individual pigs. Number of inseminations per estrus, time of AI, and duration of estrus were correlated, which made it difficult to assess which of these factors was primarily related to the farrowing rate or litter size. Knowledge of average duration of estrus on farms and of factors that influence the duration of estrus on commercial farms can help to improve the efficiency of the AI strategy specific for each farm.  相似文献

Levels of luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), progesterone and estradiol-17 beta were measured in five Polled Hereford cows. Blood samples were collected once or twice daily for 5 d, then every 6 h from 1 d before weaning (d 28 to 38 postpartum) until 10 d after the second postweaning estrus. Blood samples were again collected at daily intervals until the third postweaning estrus. All cows exhibited estrus within 4 d after weaning, a second estrus 8 to 10 d after the first and a third estrus 16 to 23 d after the second. All cows had peaks in serum concentrations of LH during the first (22.6 to 81.7 ng/ml) and second (4.4 to 149.0 ng/ml) postweaning estrus. Mean levels of LH in serum during the peak and the area under the LH curve during the first and second postweaning estrus did not differ. Serum levels of LH and FSH during the first 4 d of the short cycle did not differ from LH and FSH levels the first 4 d of the subsequent normal cycle. Levels of LH in serum for 4 d before the first LH surge, associated with the first postweaning estrus, did not differ from levels of LH found 4 d before the second Lh surge, associated with the second postweaning estrus. However, serum levels of FSH during the 4 d before the first ovulatory LH surge were lower (P = .05) than those observed during the 4-d period before the second ovulatory surge of LH. Progesterone levels were similar the first 6 d after the first and second estrous periods, but were lower after d 6 of the first (short) cycle than after d 6 of the second (normal) cycle. Estradiol peaks of 1.2 to 2.8 pg/ml were detected during the first postweaning estrus and 1.4 to 12.5 pg/ml during the second postweaning estrus, but due to the variability among cows mean levels of estradiol during first estrus did not differ from second estrus. These data agree with previous reports that postpartum anestrous cows had short cycles if they exhibit estrus in response to weaning. The early decline of progesterone after the first estrus apparently did not stem from lack of LH in serum, but the lower levels of FSH observed before this first ovulation may have been an important factor contributing to the reduced life span of the subsequent corpus luteum.  相似文献

Clinical and endocrinological responses to administration of gonadotropin releasing hormone analog (LH-RH-A) during the lactation period and postweaning in the sow were investigated. Plasma LH concentrations in lactating sows rose immediately after administration of LH-RH-A. However, in postweaning sows the increase of LH level was more slowly. Three of 5 postweaning sows came into estrus and ovulated after LH-RH-A treatment. One sow exhibited a distinct LH response, but her ovaries remained quiescent. The remaining one with feeble estrus for a short period became cystic ovaries. Thus, LH response to GnRH in the sow seems to be higher during early lactation than at 2 days postweaning.  相似文献

Low protein intake during lactation has been demonstrated to increase the loss of body protein and to reduce the reproductive performance of female pigs. The objectives of the current experiment were 1) to determine whether protein (lysine) restriction alters levels of somatotropic hormones, insulin, follicle-stimulating hormone, and leptin around weaning, and 2) to evaluate the relationships between these eventual alterations and postweaning reproductive performance. One day after farrowing, crossbred primiparous sows were randomly allocated to one of two diets containing 20% crude protein and 1.08% lysine (C, n = 12) or 10% crude protein and 0.50% lysine (L, n = 14) during a 28-d lactation. Diets provided similar amounts of metabolizable energy (3.1 Mcal/kg). Feed allowance was restricted to 4.2 kg/d throughout lactation, and litter size was standardized to 10 per sow within 5 d after farrowing. Catheters were fitted in the jugular vein of 21 sows around d 22 of lactation. Serial blood samples were collected 1 d before (day W - 1) and 1 d after (day W + 1) weaning, and single blood samples were collected daily from weaning until d 6 postweaning (day W + 6). Sows were monitored for estrus and inseminated. They were slaughtered at d 30 of gestation. During lactation, litter weight gain was similar among treatment groups. Reduced protein intake increased (P < 0.001) sow weight loss (-30 vs -19 kg) and estimated protein mobilization throughout lactation (-4.1 vs -2.0 kg). On day W - 1, L sows had higher (P < 0.02) plasma glutamine and alanine concentrations, but lower (P < 0.05) plasma tryptophan and urea than C sows. Mean and basal plasma GH were higher (P < 0.001), whereas plasma IGF-I and mean insulin were lower in L than in C sows on day W - 1. Preprandial leptin did not differ between treatments on day W - 1, but was higher (P < 0.01) in L sows than in C sows on day W + 1. Mean FSH concentrations were similar in both treatments on day W - 1 (1.3 ng/mL), but L sows had greater (P < 0.001) mean FSH on day W + 1 than C sows (1.6 vs 1.2 ng/mL). The weaning-to-estrus interval (5 +/- 1 d) was similar in both groups. Ovulation rate was lower in L than in C sows (20.0 +/- 1 vs 23.4 +/- 1, P < 0.05). No obvious relationships between reproductive traits and metabolic hormone data were observed. In conclusion, these results provide evidence that protein (lysine) restriction throughout lactation alters circulating concentrations of somatotropic hormones and insulin at the end of lactation and has a negative impact on postweaning ovulation rate.  相似文献

In three experiments, the influence of insulin administered after weaning was examined in primiparous sows given extra feed or in primiparous compared to multiparous sows. In Exp. 1, 171 primiparous and 231 multiparous crossbred sows on a commercial farm were injected with 0.4 IU/kg BW insulin (Eli Lilly Lente Iletin II) or saline for 4 d beginning the day after weaning (d 0) and were fed 2.3 kg/d until mating. In Exp. 2, 153 primiparous sows from the same farm as those in Exp. 1 were injected with insulin or saline as in Exp. 1 and were fed 2.7 or 3.6 kg/d until mating. In Exp. 3, 63 primiparous crossbred sows were injected with insulin or saline as described above and fed either 2.3 or 4.5 kg/d for 5 d after weaning and were remated. On the commercial farm (Exp. 1 and 2), insulin administration increased percentage in estrus for primiparous sows compared to multiparous sows (treatment x parity interaction, P < 0.02) but tended to lower litter size in primiparous sows (treatment x parity interaction, P < 0.06). In Exp. 2, insulin combined with extra feed increased (P < 0.05) litter size by two pigs but tended (P < 0.07) to decrease farrowing rate in that group (treatment x feed interaction). Weaning-to-estrus interval, pregnancy rate, ovulation rate, and embryo survival were not influenced by treatment or feeding level (Exp. 3); however, postweaning intake and embryo survival were negatively related for saline-treated sows only (r = -0.55; P < 0.01), and backfat depth at weaning and embryo survival were positively related for insulin-treated sows only (r = 0.44; P < 0.05). Overall, insulin administration differentially influenced reproduction in primiparous sows and may have interacted with metabolic or nutritional state of the animal.  相似文献

A total of 159 primiparous sows were fed 0 (C) or 675 mg/d of thyroprotein (TP) from d -2 until d 14 postweaning. Sows received 8 (LE) or 14 (HE) Mcal of ME/d during a 28-d lactation period. Plasma levels of 3,5,3'-triiodothyronine (T3) and 3,5,3',5'-tetraidothyronine (T4) were determined for d -4, -2, 0, 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7 postweaning. Sows consuming LE lost more weight and backfat during lactation (P less than .01) than HE sows. Litters of sows consuming LE gained less weight than litters of sows consuming HE (P less than .01). Thyroprotein increased plasma levels of both T3 and T4 (P less than .01), whereas energy intake had no effect (P greater than .10) on either of the two hormones. The response to thyroid hormone was not consistent across days postweaning (TP x day, P less than .01). Feeding TP increased T4 (P less than .01) on all days, and T3 was increased (P less than .05) on d 0, 2 and 3 postweaning. Thyroid hormones rose markedly following weaning regardless of TP level. Percentage of sows in estrus by d 7 postweaning for LE-C, LE-TP, HE-C and HE-TP were 80, 78, 92 and 90, respectively. Energy restriction during lactation resulted in fewer sows returning to estrus by d 7 (P less than .03) than those fed HE. However, feeding TP postweaning had no effect on return to estrus, suggesting that the effect of dietary energy restriction during lactation on the interval from weaning to first estrus is not mediated through postweaning thyroid hormone concentrations.  相似文献
