Infraspinatus muscle contracture associated with trauma in a dog   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Infraspinatus muscle contracture was diagnosed in a 4 1/2-year-old female Doberman Pinscher with lameness characterized by abduction and outward rotation of the right antebrachium and carpus. After infraspinatus tenotomy, the dog recovered. This case differs from previously reported cases of infraspinatus muscle contracture because of an associated history of blunt trauma.  相似文献

The clinical signs, diagnosis and surgical treatment of a case of lameness due to contracture of the infraspinatus muscle in a 5-year-old dog are described. Although the cause of the contracture remains unknown, concurrent atrophy of this muscle and the supraspinatus suggest that trauma to the suprascapular nerve was involved.
Résumé. On décrit les symptômes cliniques, le diagnostic et le traitement chirurgique d'un cas de claudication dû à la contracture du muscle infraspinal chez un chien âgé de cinq ans. Bien que la cause de la contracture reste inconnue, l'atrophie coexistante de ce muscle et celle du muscle susépineux suggèrent l'implication de trauma au nerf susscapulaire.
Zusammenfassung. Die klinischen Symptome, Diagnose und chirurgische Behandlung in einem Fall von Lahmheit, zuzuschreiben der Kontraktur des Musculus infraspinatus in einem fünfjährigen Hund, sind beschrieben. Obwohl die Ursache der Kontraktur unbekannt bleibt, gleichzeitige Abzehrung dieses Muskels und des Musculus supraspinatus, deutet an, dass Trauma des suprascapular Nervs mit einbegriffen war.  相似文献

Objective— To report sartorius muscle contracture in a dog.
Study Design— Case report.
Animals— A 5-year-old, male, German Shepherd dog.
Methods— After a 2-month history of right hindlimb lameness was treated by tenectomy of the caudal sartorius muscle for sartorius muscle contracture.
Results— One month after surgery there was complete remission of clinical signs; however, after 12 months, there was partial reunion of sartorius caudal belly and onset of gracilis muscle contracture.
Conclusions— Contracture of the sartorius muscle in dogs is seemingly rare and similar to gracilis muscle contracture with which it may be confused. Differentiation requires knowledge of muscular anatomy, careful palpation, and surgical inspection.
Clinical Relevance— Sartorius muscle contracture can be treated by tenectomy or removal of contracted muscle tissue, however, long-term outcome suggests the need to develop approaches that prevent recurrence caused by scarring of transected tissues.  相似文献

A four-month-old golden retriever developed quadriceps contracture following management of a comminuted femoral fracture with an intramedullary pin and cerclage wire. Management involved surgical release of the quadriceps, rigid stabilisation of the fracture, use of a static stifle flexion apparatus and postoperative physiotherapy. A whippet was referred to our hospital, for further assessment and treatment, two days after receiving bite wound to the neck. Physical examination and radiographs revealed caudal displacement of the larynx. At surgery, bilateral rupture of the thyrohyoideus muscle was discovered and repaired, returning the larynx to its normal position. Bilateral varus antebrachial deformity in a 7-month-old working dog was surgically corrected. The deformity was a sequela to premature closure of the distal radial physes after trauma to the forelimbs. Treatment was by ulnectomy and oblique radial osteotomy. Stabilisation of the fractures was maintained by an external fixation device. The treatment was successful and the dog returned to work as a sheep dog.  相似文献

The splenius muscle in the dog is a triangular muscle extending from the third thoracic vertebra to the skull. It inserts on the nuchal line of the occipital bone and the mastoid part of the temporal bone and occasionally it also sends a strong serration to the transverse process of the axis. Here we describe a new, anomalous insertion of both the left and right splenius muscles in one young adult dog routinely prepared for anatomical dissection. In this dog, a group of muscle fibres diverged ventrolaterally from both the right and left splenial muscles to be inserted at the end of the transverse processes of the third cervical vertebra. This anomalous insertion of the splenius muscle corresponds to the splenius cervicis muscle present in other species.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To report femoral nerve dysfunction caused by focal iliopsoas muscle injury and treated by performing tenectomy of the muscle insertion. STUDY DESIGN: Case report. ANIMALS: A 4-year-old, castrated male, English Mastiff. RESULTS: Iliopsoas muscle injury caused femoral nerve deficits and severe pain. Focal injury was not detected by ultrasonography or computed tomography but was visible on magnetic resonance (MRI) images. Tenectomy of the insertion of the iliopsoas muscle relieved signs of pain. CONCLUSIONS: Femoral nerve dysfunction may occur with iliopsoas muscle injury. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Iliopsoas muscle injury should be considered in patients with hip pain and MRI is a useful test for diagnosis. Tenectomy may be indicated for relief of chronic iliopsoas muscle pain.  相似文献

Fibrotic myopathy of the iliopsoas muscle developed in a dog, following extensive migration of a grass awn within the muscle and adjacent subcutaneous tissue. The dog was initially presented for evaluation of a fluctuant swelling over the right flank region. The clinical and imaging findings were suggestive of iliopsoas fibrotic myopathy and the diagnosis was confirmed by histopathology. This is the third report of iliopsoas fibrotic myopathy in a dog, the first report to describe the postmortem pathologic changes and the first report of iliopsoas fibrotic myopathy subsequent to foreign body migration.  相似文献
