Nutrient apparent digestibility coefficients (ADCs) of pet food grade poultry by‐product meal (PBM) were determined for black tiger prawn, Penaeus monodon and Pacific white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei by the indirect method (reference diet and test diet at 7:3 ratio). Subsequently, an 8‐week growth trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of substitution of fishmeal (FM) with PBM in diets of P. monodon (initial weight = 0.21 ± 0.01 g). In the growth trial, six isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets PBM0, PBM25, PBM50, PBM75, PBM100 and PBMA100, containing a gradient of PBM 0, 88.7, 177.4, 266, 354.7 and 354 g kg?1 to replace 0, 92.5, 185, 277.5, 370 and 370 g kg?1 FM were fed to four replicate groups respectively. The diet PBMA100 was supplemented with DL‐Met to be similar to PBM0. The results showed that both P. monodon and L. vannamei had relatively high ADC of crude protein (77.6% and 84.2% respectively) and gross energy (72.8% and 84.0% respectively) for PBM. Litopenaeus vannamei showed significantly higher digestion ability for PBM than P. monodon (P < 0.05). In growth trial, no significant difference in growth performance was observed among shrimp fed the experimental diets. DL‐Met supplementation did not improve the growth of P. monodon. PBM is a suitable protein ingredient for P. monodon feeds and can be used up to 354.7 g kg?1 to totally replaced FM.  相似文献

Resource use was investigated at 34 Litopenaeus vannamei and five Penaeus monodon farms in Thailand and 30 L. vannamei and 24 P. monodon farms in Vietnam. Farms varied in water surface areas for production, reservoirs, canals, and settling basins; in pond size and depth; and in water management, stocking density, feeding rate, amendment input, aeration rate, crop duration, and crops per year. Production of L. vannamei averaged 17.3 and 10.9 m.t./ha/yr, and feed conversion ratio averaged 1.49 and 1.33 in Thailand and Vietnam, respectively. On average, production of 1 m.t. of L. vannamei required 0.58 ha land, 5,400 m3 water, 60 GJ energy, and 1218 kg wildfish in Thailand and 1.76 ha land, 15,100 m3 water, 33.7 GJ energy, and 1264 kg wildfish in Vietnam. Resource use per metric ton of shrimp declined with greater production intensity. In Thailand, P. monodon was produced at 0.2–0.4 m.t./ha/yr, with no inputs but water and postlarvae. In Vietnam, P. monodon production averaged 3.60 m.t./ha/yr. Production of 1 m.t. of P. monodon required 0.80 ha land, 36,000 m3 water, 47.8 GJ energy, and 1180 kg wildfish, and resource use per ton production declined with increasing production intensity.  相似文献

Five different Vibrio parahaemolyticus strains (SH8, SH108, SH58, AH5 and GD10) isolated from the hepatopancreas of moribund shrimp in farms of mainland China were identified and capable of inducing massive mortality of Penaeus (Litopenaeus) vannamei. The immersion challenge results with five isolates indicated variance of virulence, while only GD10 caused massive sloughing of tubule epithelial cells which was recognized as the most significant symptom of AHPND. Differences in immune responses were detected of P. vannamei during 48 h post‐infection (p.i.) by injection or immersion challenge with V. parahaemolyticus (SH8, SH108 and GD10) isolates. When injected SH8 and SH108 isolates, the expression of lysozyme (LSZ) showing statistically significant upregulation at 16 and 48 h p.i. and that of Toll‐like receptors (TLR) showed statistically significant upregulation at 48 h p.i. When immersion challenge with the GD10 isolate, TLR were upregulated after 8 h p.i. challenge with 104 cfu mL?1; however, LSZ was downregulated when challenged with 103 cfu mL?1. The results suggested that LSZ and TLR serve as crucial molecular markers of innate immunity in shrimp against V. parahaemolyticus infection. LSZ is a vital marker for acute bacterial infection, while TLR serves as a crucial marker for chronic infection.  相似文献

In animal breeding programs, selection coupled with a narrow genetic base can cause high levels of inbreeding to occur rapidly (in one or two generations). Although the effects of inbreeding have been studied extensively in terrestrial animals and to a lesser extent in aquaculture species, little is known about the effects of inbreeding on penaeid shrimp. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of inbreeding on hatchery and growout performance of the Pacific white shrimp, Penaeus vannamei. The experiment was conducted over 2 yr, and data from two successive generations (G2 and G3) of inbred (sibling–sibling mating) and outbred families were analyzed. There were 11 inbred and 12 outbred families in G2 and 9 inbred and 10 outbred families in G3. Inbreeding coefficients (F) for outbred and inbred families were 0.00 and 0.25, respectively, for G2 and 0.00 and 0.375, respectively, for G3. Growth rates for outbreds and inbreds were similar in both G2 and G3. Hatch rate for inbred families was 33.1% lower than for outbred families in G2 and 47.1% lower in G3. Inbreeding depression (IBD) (relative change in phenotype per 0.1 increase in F) ± 95% CI for hatch rate was ?12.3 ± 10.1%. Hatchery survival for inbred families was 31.4% lower than for outbred families in G2 and 38.8% lower in G3. IBD for hatchery survival was ?11.0 ± 5.7%. Growout survival was 1.9% lower for inbred families than for outbred families in G2 and 19.6% lower in G3. IBD for growout survival was ?3.8 ± 2.9%. There was also a significant linear relationship between IBD estimates for survival traits and mean outbred survival. At high outbred survival, IBD was low (e.g., growout survival in G2), but IBD appeared to become more severe when outbred survival was lower. This suggests that stress (related to environment and/or life stage) may worsen IBD for survival traits. Results also indicate that moderate to high levels of inbreeding (>10%) should be avoided in commercial shrimp hatcheries because the cumulative effect of IBD on hatch rate and hatchery survival will significantly reduce postlarvae production. Thus, IBD can be significant enough to justify the use of inbreeding as a germplasm protection strategy (under certain scenarios) for genetic improvement programs.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to estimate genetic parameters for spawning traits and growth traits in a breeding line of Pacific white shrimp, Penaeus (Litopenaeus) vannamei, selected for growth and survival. Traits studied were number of eggs (NE) and number of nauplii (NN) and female body weight at insemination (FWI) and body weight at 130 days of age (BW130). Genetic parameters were estimated using a multivariate animal model. Heritability for NE and NN were estimated as 0.13 ± 0.04 and 0.03 ± 0.04 respectively. The contribution to NN total variation due to ‘factors associated with male’ effect was estimated as 0.47 ± 0.07. In the cases of FWI and BW130, heritability was estimated as 0.44 ± 0.08 and 0.19 ± 0.03 respectively. Genetic correlation between FWI and NE was estimated as 0.49 ± 0.15, between FWI and NN as 0.54 ± 0.39 and between NE and NN as 0.27 ± 0.41, whereas the genetic correlations of FWI, NE and NN with BW130 were 0.30 ± 0.13, ?0.21 ± 0.19 and ?0.25 ± 0.38 respectively. Although it is important to perform more studies on this issue, our results found no evidence of a genetic antagonistic effect between female reproductive traits and body weight at harvesting (130 days of age) in P. vannamei.  相似文献

Shrimp farms in India had average yields (pond surface basis) of 7.86 ± 1.04 (SE) m.t./ha/yr for Litopenaeus vannamei (n = 89) and 3.88 m.t./ha/yr for Penaeus monodon (n = 11). Average feed conversion ratio was 1.48 ± 0.04 for L. vannamei and 1.24 ± 0.12 for P. monodon. Land use for production ponds, supporting area, and feed ingredients averaged 0.634 ± 0.053 ha/m.t. for L. vannamei and 0.716 ± 0.087 ha/m.t. for P. monodon. Saline water volume used at farms without water exchange was 18,522 ± 4065 m3/m.t. for L. vannamei and 9528 m3/m.t. for P. monodon. Farms exchanging water used 149,188 m3/m.t. for L. vannamei and 191,500 m3/m.t. for P. monodon. Freshwater embodied in feed was 1678 ± 508 m3/m.t. for L. vannamei and 1401 ± 137 m3/m.t. for P. monodon. Average energy use for farm construction and repair, farm operations, and embodied in feed and liming materials was 82.14 ± 9.08 GJ/m.t. for L. vannamei and 59.03 ± 24.92 GJ/m.t. for P. monodon. Wildfish used to make fishmeal included in feed was 1209 kg/m.t. for L. vannamei and 1611 kg/m.t. for P. monodon. Farm infrastructure, pond management methods, yields, and resource use in India were similar to those previously reported for shrimp farms in Thailand and Vietnam.  相似文献

利用组织切片法研究了斑节对虾杆状病毒(MBV)在养殖早期班节对虾及养成期斑节对虾中肠腺各部位的分布特点。斑节对虾的中肠腺可分为头部、亚头部、中部、亚尾部和尾部等5个部分,其上皮细胞包括E细胞、F细胞、B细胞和R细胞等4种类型。头部和尾部均以E细胞为主、亚头部、中部和亚尾部均以R细胞为主。在感染度较轻的样本中,MBV一般只感染F细胞、R细胞和B细胞。感染度较重时,E细胞也同时受累。在养殖早期虾和养成期虾中,MBV相对感染度在中肠腺各部分的分布均以中部最高,而且以中部的中间最高,离中部越远,相对感染度越低。  相似文献

In 1997, CENIACUA (Centro de Investigaciones para la Acuicultura en Colombia) in collaboration with AKVAFORSK (Institute of Aquaculture Research, Norway) initiated a family-based selection scheme in Penaeus (Litopenaeus) vannamei to improve growth rate and survival in ponds and tanks. This paper reports results from a series of tests in which a total of 430 full-sib families (representing 204 paternal half-sib families) were tested for harvest weight and survival in standard commercial and intensive growing environments. The families originated from two selected lines. The estimates of heritability (h2±S.E.) for harvest weight for the two lines were 0.24±0.05 and 0.17±0.04, and the corresponding estimates for survival in pond/tanks were 0.04±0.02 and 0.10±0.02. Results showed a favorable correlation between the estimated mean full-sib family breeding values for harvest weight and pond/tank survival (0.42 in line 1 and 0.40 in line 2) indicating that selecting for growth will cause a positive correlated response in overall survival. The genetic correlations between body weights and pond/tank survival in different grow-out environments were high, demonstrating low genotype by farm interaction (GXE) for both traits.  相似文献

Ten enzymatic systems were analyzed to determine allozyme genetic differentiation among three hatchery strains (A, B and C) of white shrimp, Penaeus (Litopenaeus) vannamei, commonly used in shrimp farming in northwest Mexico. A wild population from northern Sinaloa was used as a reference. Fifteen loci were detected, nine of which were polymorphic (ACP-1*, ACP-2*, AKP-2*, EST-2*, EST-3*, EST-4*, EST-5*, LAP*, and LDH*). Polymorphism of A, B and C were 53, 53, and 40%. The mean observed heterozygosity per locus was 0.071, 0.093, and 0.050 without any significant difference among them or with respect to the wild population (0.056). In all samples observed heteroxygosity was smaller than expected. The mean number of alleles per locus was 1.8 in A and 1.87 in both B and C. Strain A was the only sample without rare alleles. Only EST-3* and LAP* of strain A were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium; the other loci were in disequilibrium in all samples. High inbreeding values and heterozygote deficiencies were detected in all samples. Distribution of allelic frequencies was heterogeneous among the samples (G-test), involving all polymorphic loci and suggesting a genetic differentiation. According to Fst, a moderate genetic differentiation (7.4%) was detected among the samples. Greater differences were between strains A and C. Based on genetic distance, the samples were grouped into two pairs, B–C and A-wild. Strain A is a young strain related to the wild sample, whereas strains B and C have a different geographic origin than the wild sample.  相似文献

Spermatophore development times were studied in three species of penaeid shrimp, Penueus setifcrus, P. vannumei , and P. stylirosrris . In the terminal ampoule, the progression of spermatophore formation occurred in 4 stages (I-IV). The duration of each stage varied with species and ablation state. In unablated males, with spermatophores manually or electrically removed, structnrally complete spermatophores containing high numbers of morphologically normal sperm were formed in 2–4 days for P. vannamei , 4–6 days for P. stylirostris and 5–7 days for P. setiferus . Unilateral eyestalk ablation of P. setiferus accelerated spermatophore production time by approximately 2 days, and significantly increased spermatophore weight and sperm count without affecting sperm quality.
Spermatophore removal techniques had little effect on development time in P. vannamei . However, in P. setiferus , new spermatophores were produced faster in males mating naturally than in those males whose spermatophores were removed electrically.  相似文献

Shrimp farmers in South-East Java have recently observed a decline in Penaeus monodon (Fabricius) production. To stabilize overall production, some farms have switched partially to biculture of P. monodon and P. merguiensis (de Man). The production from 33 ponds in two of these farms was analysed. In addition, the water quality in 10 ponds was monitored over the entire culture period. Information was also available on the post-larvae (PL) source and feed used per pond. Water quality remained stable during the culture period and there was no accumulation of organic material during the second half of the culture period. Stocking P. merguiensis 2 months after P. monodon partially compensated for the low production of P. monodon, thereby stabilizing overall production. When the production of P. monodon is low, the production of P. merguiensis is high and vice versa (P<0.001). Feed source had no effect on production when stocking density was included as a covariable in the analysis (P > 0.05), while P. monodon PL source caused production to differ by a factor of three (P<0.001). It was concluded that biculture of P. monodon and P. merguiensis is an effective way to stabilize overall shrimp production.  相似文献

The tolerance of Litopenaeus vannamei larvae to increasing concentrations of total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) using a short‐term static renewal method at 26°C, 34 g L?1 salinity and pH 8.5 was assessed. The median lethal concentration (24 h LC50) for TAN in zoea (1‐2‐3), mysis (1‐2‐3) and postlarvae 1 were, respectively, 4.2‐9.9‐16.0; 19.0‐17.3‐17.5 and 13.2 mg L?1TAN (0.6‐1.5‐2.4; 2.8‐2.5‐2.6 and 1.9 mg L?1 NH3‐N). The LC50 values obtained in this study suggest that zoeal and post‐larval stages are more sensitive to 24 h ammonia exposure than the mysis stage of L. vannamei larvae. On the basis of the ammonia toxicity level (24 h LC50) at zoea 1, we recommend that this level does not exceed 0.42 mg L?1 TAN – equivalent to 0.06 mg L?1 NH3‐N – to reduce ammonia toxicity during the rearing of L. vannamei larvae.  相似文献

The genetics of resistance to hypoxia was studied in shrimp using two approaches, heritability estimation and heterosis estimation. The heritability of resistance to hypoxia was evaluated in two populations of shrimp postlarvae families produced at different times, and heterosis was estimated through the reciprocal crosses of two genetically distinct shrimp populations at postlarvae and juvenile. Heritabilities of resistance to hypoxia in postlarvae were large and out of the range for the heritability (1.73±0.09, 1.35±0.14) regardless of population evaluated. When covariates (survival and mean total weight to postlarvae 15 days old) were introduced in the analyses to correct for effects during rearing of the larvae, the heritabilities did not change substantially for the first population, but were decreased for the second population depending on the covariate used for correction (1.15±0.10 and 1.08±0.11 for the covariates survival and total weight respectively). Those large heritabilities could be explained by the presence of confounded common environmental variance in the estimated genetic variance (maternal effects), or by dominance and epistatic effects being an important part of the estimated genetic variance. Heterosis analyses dissecting maternal effect indicated that both effects, maternal and dominance, are involved in the resistance to hypoxia at postlarvae, and that although maternal effects decreased at juvenile stage, the trait was still characterized by presenting a large heterosis value (62–65% for postlarvae and 36% for juveniles).  相似文献

Abstract. The present study attempts to investigate the effect of Penaeus monodon -type baculovirus (MBV) infection on growth and survival of the larval stages of Penaeus monodon Fabricius. The results showed that MBV may significantly retard larval growth and cause mortalities during the larval stage. The MBV-infected larvae of P. monodon varied more in body size than uninfected control shrimp, and were discoloured. To detect the presence of MBV in larval prawn, histopathological techniques and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay ( elisa ) were used. Positive diagnoses were routinely detected as early as the zoea 1 stage when ELISA was used.  相似文献

Polyculture of fish has been shown to be an effective means of increasing production beyond that achieved in monoculture, but little research has been conducted to evaluate the effect of polyculture on production of shrimp species. This research was designed to investigate performance of Penaeus vannamei (v) and P. stylirostris (s) in monoculture (treatments 100v and 100s) as well as in polyculture at various species ratios (75v:25s, 50v:50s, and 25v:75s) at a constant density of 1.8 × 105 /ha. Shrimp were stocked into fifteen 0.1-ha ponds at the Texas A&M University Mariculture Facility for 123–134 days. Results indicate a higher mean survival rate (73 vs 22%) but lower mean growth rate (0.09 vs 0.14 g/day) of P. vannamei than P. stylirostris. Survival rates of neither species differed significantly among treatments. Final weight of each species significantly decreased with increasing density of the same species but significantly increased with increasing density of the other species. Best growth of both species occurred in the 75v:25s treatment. Observed differences in distribution and diel activity of the two species within ponds may partly explain the compatability of these two species in polyculture. Production rates (range, 690 to 2,180 kg/ha) and value (range, US$2,720 to US$5,740/ha) among treatments generally increased with increasing composition of P. vannamei; however, no significant difference in mean value was detected between the 100v and 75v:25s treatments. As a secondary objective of this study, performance of shrimp (25v: 75s treatment) in a single-phase pond system was compared to that in a three-phase (nursery, intermediate, and grow-out) system. Survival, growth, production, and value were found to be similar between systems.  相似文献

Abstract The histopathology of red disease was studied in samples of Penaeus monodon from a commercial prawn farm in the Philippines and in a single pond–reared adult P. stylirostris from Hawaii. The principal lesion type observed in prawns from both locations was a marked atrophy and necrosis of the hepatopancreas that was accompanied by an intense cellular inflammatory response. Less commonly, melanized cellular inflammatory lesions were observed in the antennal gland, mandibular organ, gonads, midgut and gills. The aetiology of red disease is unknown, but because of the similarity of hepatopancreatic lesions in red disease to those observed in aflatoxicosis, mycotoxins (or other microbial toxins) present in rancid or spoiled feeds or in the detritus of organically rich ponds are suggested as its cause.  相似文献
