In Europe, during the 1960s, mainly two-rowed spring barley was used for malting. Traditionally, spring malting barley was produced in regions with moderate temperatures and adequate rainfall throughout the growing season. Winter malting barley, on the other hand, was mostly grown in the milder arid and semiarid parts of Europe. Due to global climatic changes and its higher yield, winter malting barley is now increasing in acreage in the traditional spring barley regions. Our study included a comparative analysis of several grain and malt characters of the winter and spring malting barley grown under the agroecological conditions of the Vojvodina Province, Yugoslavia. One thousand grain weight was shown to be approximately the same for both growth habits, whereas winter malting barley proved to have a higher hectoliter mass than the spring one. In those years that were less favorable for spring barley production, winter malting barley had better quality characters, namely a higher fine extract content, a better malt modification, and a lower malt protein content. The association between high malting quality and pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) susceptibility is a key challenge when developing new malting barley varieties. A new malting barley variety Baudin has successfully combined high malting quality and PHS tolerance. A doubled haploid population was developed for mapping PHS tolerance and seed dormancy from a cross of Baudin?×?AC Metcalfe using 233 molecular markers. Three QTLs were mapped for seed dormancy based on the standard germination test at 24, 48 and 72?h. One major QTL was mapped to the long arm of chromosome 5H controlling seed dormancy and PHS tolerance from Baudin. Two other minor QTLs were identified from Baudin on chromosomes 3 and 7H. QTL/QTL interaction was detected for seed dormancy between chromosomes 3 and 5H. The PHS tolerance allele of the 5H QTL from Baudin contributes to higher malt yield without significant impact on diastatic power, beta-glucan content and wort viscosity. QTL from Baudin provide new sources to integrate PHS tolerance and high malting quality.  相似文献

Summary Methods for assessing malting quality in barley breeding were evaluated for their precision, including variation between different batches, analysts and barley samples. The barley characters measured were grain moisture, ground grain moisture (two methods), grain weight, steep moisture, malt moisture (two methods), malt yield, malt nitrogen, malt soluble nitrogen, Kolbach index, malt diastatic power, malt -amylase, malt -glucanase, wort refractive index, hot water extract, extract yield, wort reducing sugars, wort total carbohydrates, wort -amino nitrogen and wort total nitrogen. 不同类型啤酒大麦品种遗传多样性及遗传差异的SSR分析   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
利用28对SSR引物对包括22份野生材料,8份耐盐碱材料,21份优质高产甘啤系列品种(系)材料和9份日本早熟材料在内的60份啤酒大麦品种资源的遗传多样性及其亲缘关系进行分析。结果表明,所用28对引物,有25对有多态性;聚类结果表明这些材料遗传相似系数分布在0.4792~0.9948之间。在遗传相似系数0.63的水平上,这些材料聚类为2大类,下分7个亚类。从聚类结果看出,不同类型材料基本各自聚为一类,表明不同类型品种(系)内遗传差异较小;不同类型品种(系)间遗传差异较大,杂交可能会产生较强的杂种优势和较高的产量潜力。  相似文献

Seed dormancy is one of the most important parameters affecting the malting process and pre-harvest sprouting in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.). Variation of seed dormancy in 4365 cultivated and 177 wild barley (ssp. spontaneum) accessions derived from different regions of the world was investigated in Okayama University, Kurashiki, Japan. Seed dormancy of each accession was estimated from their germination percentages at 0, 5, 10 and 15 weeks post-harvest after-ripening periods. All of the wild barley accessions showed less than 10% germination at 0 week after-ripening period. Level of seed dormancy in 4365 cultivated barley accessions showed a clear geographical differentiation. Seventy seven percent of Ethiopian accessions showed high germination percentages, while 86% of Japanese, Turkish and North African accessions showed low germination percentages at 0 week after-ripening period. A half diallel cross using eleven barley accessions with different level of dormancy revealed that seed dormancy was predominately controlled by additive gene effects. These results suggest that large genetic diversity for seed dormancy in barley is explained as different levels of additive accumulation of genetic factors. Barley varieties showing appropriate dormancy could be developed by crossing among barley germplasm accessions used in the present study.  相似文献

Strong enzymatic activities in the germinating barley grain, together with protein and starch content, are crucial for high extraction values in the resulting malt and, therefore, barley malting quality. The efficient characterization of registered barley cultivars and genetic resources with respect to one of the relevant thermostability enzymes (β‐amylase) is an essential requirement. The template‐directed dye‐terminator incorporation (TDI) assay: based on flourescence resonance energy transfer (TDI‐FRET) ( Chen et al. 1995 ) was used to detect single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the β‐amylase coding sequence resulting in low (Sd2L), intermediate (Sd1) and high (Sd2H and Sd3) thermostability enzyme across 84 Czech barley cultivars and genetic resources used over a period of time in the Czech Republic. The incidence of different alleles has changed during the last 100 years. Also the new resources with high thermostabile β‐amylase were identified. They can be used effectively to breed for malting quality improvement.  相似文献

Hydration of the endosperm is a critical part of the malting process that ensures proper modification of the grain. However, little is known about the genetic controls of endosperm hydration and its relationship to agronomic and malt quality traits. The extent of endosperm hydration is estimated through hydration index (HYI). We measured HYI, agronomic, and malt quality traits on a 169-line subset of the NSGC Barley Core Panel, which includes global malt lines, some dating from the inception of European breeding programmes. Utilizing GWAS, 61 QTLs were identified for HYI, dormancy, agronomic, and malt quality traits. Of these, six were found to be related to HYI and were located on 1H, 2H, 3H, 6H, and 7H. We found HYI QTLs cosegregating with kernel size and hardness (1H and 3H), malting quality (2H and 6H), and dormancy (2H and 6H). These results indicate that endosperm hydration after steeping can be improved by selecting high HYI alleles on 2H, 6H, and 7H, positively impacting malting quality without negatively impacting kernel size or dormancy.  相似文献

Seed vigour is a precondition for early and homogenous field emergence of barley, in addition to effective malting. This study aimed to assess the selection of barley varieties by using seed vigour as the indicator. Seed vigour of barley (quantified as the germination percentage) was evaluated under drought (?0.2 MPa) and temperature stress (10°C). At two locations over a 3‐year period, 1 population of 133 Derkado × B83‐12/21/5 doubled haploid (DH) lines (and parents) was evaluated for seed vigour, of which 108 DH lines were assessed for three malting parameters. The relatively high values of vigour during the 3‐year period (overall average 94–95%) probably impeded high variations in genetic potential. A total of 27 DH lines of the 133 evaluated showed transgression for vigour (up to 98%) in comparison with the parents (Derkado: 96%; B83: 92%). In conclusion, caution should be applied when selecting for seed vigour, even in good crop years with high levels of seed vigour and low trait variations. Such selection might improve vigour, particularly in crop years with unsuitable weather conditions.  相似文献

Eight malting cultivars of barley released from 1944 to 1998 in Argentina were sown in two growing seasons to evaluate the effect of breeding on malting quality. An adequate grain weight and screening percentage as in the older varieties were maintained in the recent releases. The grain protein concentration decreased in the modern cultivars together with a decreased in C-and an increased in B-hordein. These results were achieved without a clear trend through the time. Malt extract was increased by 0.054% per year in the period analysed and the most important contribution in the quality improvement was the introduction of Beka (known as a high quality cultivar released in Europe) in1966. There was not a clear trend in the breeding process to obtain more stability between years in the quality attributes, at least, in the characteristics analysed in the present study. Conversely, malt extract was less variable and this tendency was observed through the years of release of the cultivars. In barley, high seed vigour is a precondition for rapid and homogenous field emergence and good malting quality. Seed vigour was defined as germination percentage under stress conditions (10°C, drought stress ‐ 2 Bars) in 7‐8 barley varieties grown in 7‐8 locations in the Czech Republic over 7 years. Three of the 7 years were not suitable for high seed quality, probably because of unsuitable weather, as average seed vigour reached only 61, 77 and 86%, respectively. In the remaining 4 years, the average vigour exceeded 94%. The impact of variety on seed vigour was higher in the ‘bad years’ and the impact of location was higher in the other years. Varieties with higher vigour from all locations in the ‘bad years’ were identified. Lower vigour was related to the high occurrence of fungi (indicated by ergosterol assays) and to lower field emergence rates of seed samples. The results support the possibility of selecting for improvement of barley seed vigour, which is related to tolerance to various conditions during emergence and to homogenous malting.  相似文献

Mapping quantitative trait loci (QTLs) responsible for malting quality traits in barley populations has been the main genetic approach to malting quality breeding. A ‘winter × spring’ doubled haploid barley population ‘Nure’ × ‘Tremois’, where such traits were segregating, has been recently developed. Our objective was to map QTLs for malting quality from 2 years of trials in two contrasting locations. QTLs were found on six chromosomes, with a main cluster on chromosome 1H. For wort viscosity and malt extract, favourable alleles at two loci on chromosome 5H were carried by the winter feeding parent ‘Nure’. Doubled‐haploids with higher quality than the spring malting cultivar ‘Tremois’ showed either a facultative or a winter growth habit and a level of frost tolerance comparable with that of the winter tolerant parent ‘Nure’. Markers and QTLs of quality traits were further validated on a separate set of DH lines, coming from the same cross, by means of marker‐assisted selection. This showed that, at least in the present cross combination, positive contributions to malting quality can be found in winter feed barley.  相似文献

Lack of suitable malt barley varieties that exhibit high yielding, stable performance, and good malting quality is the major factor among several production constraints contributing to low productivity of malt barley in the North Gondar Zone. The present study was done to evaluate and recommend the best performing varieties in the major potential areas of North Gondar. The experiment was conducted at three locations for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016) during the main cropping season using twelve improved varieties. The design was randomized complete block design with three replications. Analysis of variance and GGE [genotype main effect (G) and genotype-by-environment interaction (GE)] biplot analysis were conducted following their respective procedures. Combined analysis of variance revealed a highly significant difference (P < 0.01) among genotypes, environments, and genotype-by-environment interaction for grain yield, most agronomic and malt quality traits. All the varieties had acceptable malt quality traits. The variety IBON-174/03 was found to be the highest yielding and the most stable variety across environments. According to the polygon view of biplot analysis, the varieties were spread across four sections and the test environments spread across two sections. Among the six test environments, D and C were more discriminating and F and B were less discriminating. Test environments F, E, and A were found to be more representative of the mega-environment than D. Considering early maturity, malt quality, grain yield, and stability performance; it is recommended to use the variety IBON-174/03 for production in the study areas and in similar areas.  相似文献

Various types of malt quality profiles have been investigated to benefit the North American brewing industry. Herein, we report the development and brewing quality of the hulled, two-row malting barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) variety ‘CDC Goldstar’ lacking lipoxygenase-1 (LOX-1-less). This new variety offers a novel malt type for the improvement of beer flavor stability. The agronomic performance of ‘CDC Goldstar’ was tested in the Western Cooperative Two Row Barley Registration Trials during 2013–2014. In addition to high lodging tolerance, the new variety showed 6% higher yield than the current leading variety ‘CDC Copeland’. The malt quality of ‘CDC Goldstar’ showed higher diastatic power and lower wort β-glucan content than ‘CDC Copeland’ and controllable proteolytic modification (soluble nitrogen and Kolbach Index). Pilot- (100 L) and commercial-scale (5,000 L) brewing trials were conducted using ‘CDC PlatinumStar’, another LOX-1-less variety with a low enzymatic profile, as the control variety. Absence of the LOX-1 trait from ‘CDC Goldstar’ maintained trans-2-nonenal levels in aged beers as low as those in other LOX-1-less varieties without affecting major beer parameters, such as ester and aldehyde content or foam stability. The newly developed ‘CDC Goldstar’ malting barley provides added value for the beer industry and consumers.  相似文献

本研究以大豆优良品种中品661的298份甲基磺酸乙酯(EMS)诱变株系和610份大豆品种(系)为试验材料,利用聚丙烯酰胺凝胶电泳(SDS-PAGE)技术,分离大豆种子蛋白并计算各蛋白亚基的相对含量及11S/7S值。研究结果表明,突变群体与自然群体中不同亚基的变异系数差异极显著,但均以β亚基变异范围最大。另外,突变群体的α、β和酸性蛋白亚基的变异范围均大于自然群体。相关性分析显示:11S球蛋白与7S球蛋白含量呈极显著负相关;11S/7S值与蛋白含量相关性不显著,11S/7S值与11S和7S球蛋白各组成亚基均呈显著相关。此外,本研究还筛选出亚基明显变异材料6份,其中Ax亚基突变体尚未见报道,11S/7S值大于3的材料10份,蛋白含量大于48%的材料7份。本研究鉴定和筛选的种子蛋白变异种质为大豆品质相关基因发掘和品种改良提供了材料基础。  相似文献

探讨在等量灌水条件下垄作栽培对啤酒大麦产量和品质的影响。结果表明:(1)垄作栽培生育期长于传统平作栽培,单株穗数低于传统平作栽培,经济系数高于传统平作栽培,株高、穗粒数、产量影响趋势不一致,品种之间存在差异。(2)原麦品质:垄作栽培与传统平作栽培籽粒千粒重之间差异不显著,蛋白质含量之间差异显著,粒筛选率之间差异极显著水平,千粒重、蛋白质含量、筛选率均降低。(3)麦芽品质:垄作栽培麦芽蛋白质含量均较传统平作栽培降低,麦芽细粉浸出物、β-葡聚糖、a-氨基氮、a-淀粉酶、糖化力、可溶性氮之间差异不显著,库值含量之间差异达显著水平,但影响趋势不一致,品种之间存在差异。  相似文献

Isoelectric focusing (IEF) and immunoblotting were used to detect genetic variants of malt endopeptidase (MEP1), an enzyme related to malting quality in barley and coded by the CepB locus on barley chromosome 3 (= 3H). A variant was found in a Turkish accession of wild barley (Hordeum vulgare ssp. spontaneum). The self progeny of a hybrid between this accession and the barley cultivar ‘Clipper’ were analyzed for recombination between the CepB locus and other isozyme loci. The estimates of recombination linked the CepB locus to an NADH diaphorase locus (Ndh2), which in turn was linked to the seedling esterase complex (Est1, Est2, and Est4) situated near the distal end of the long arm of chromosome 3. The Ndh2 locus was independent of two other NADH dehydrogenase loci (Ndh3, Ndh5) which were mapped on barley chromosome 5 (= 1H) in relation to the three hordein loci (Hor1, Hor2, and Hor3).  相似文献

The genotype-environment (GE) interaction of barley doubled haploid (DH) lines was studied in relation to some malting quality characters. DH lines were obtained, using the bulbosum method, from F1 hybrids between the cultivars ‘Grit’ and ‘Havila’. Thirty DH lines, the parental forms, F2 and F3 hybrids of ‘Grit’בHavila’ and the standard cultivar ‘Rudzik’ were studied in a series of field experiments repeated at six environments. Malt protein content, Kolbach index, extract yield and malt fine-coarse difference were measured. The statistical analysis was performed using the computer program SERGEN. For protein content, it was found that most of the lines studied were stable, i.e. their GE interactions were not significant. Among the malt traits, phenotypic values of Kolbach index and fine-coarse difference were most dependent on environmental conditions. For Kolbach index, only one line was found to be stable, while for fine-coarse difference, all lines displayed interaction with the environment.  相似文献

为明确不同功能叶对啤酒大麦籽粒灌浆特性的影响,采用单因素随机区组设计试验方法,对高产、优质啤酒大麦‘甘啤7号’的籽粒灌浆特性进行了研究,应用Logistic方程对灌浆进程进行了拟合。结果表明:不同光合器官处理下啤酒大麦灌浆进程符合Logistic生长曲线,呈“慢-快-慢”“S”型变化。不同处理对品种12项灌浆参数及麦芽品质均产生影响,但影响的具体参数和影响程度因处理而异。不同处理下产量性状指标筛选率和千粒重变化最大,且呈正相关关系。其中T4处理下,饱满粒(72.17%)和千粒重(42.37 g)与其他处理及CK产生显著差异。为选育高产、优质啤酒大麦,在育种选择实践中应综合考虑形态指标。  相似文献

大豆贮藏蛋白主要成分是7S和11S球蛋白,大豆贮藏蛋白组分及其亚基组成决定了蛋白质的品质和加工特性。本研究选用134对细胞核SSR标记,对166份栽培大豆微核心种质进行基因分型,运用一般线性回归(general linear model, GLM)和复合线性回归(mixed linear model, MLM)方法进行标记与性状的关联分析,定位大豆蛋白亚基的相关基因。结果表明,2年均检测到的且与蛋白亚基相关联的SSR位点有14个,以MLM方法检测到5个SSR位点(Sat_062、Satt583、Satt291、Satt234和Satt595)与蛋白亚基相关联;7S组分各亚基变异程度较大,是引起11S/7S变异的主要原因;表型变异较大的亚基可能因为相关基因进化中发生重组较多,LD衰减距离较小,导致检测到较少的相关位点。本研究结果对蛋白亚基相关性状的标记辅助选择育种有重要的利用价值。  相似文献
