In the present study, effect of OPP (oxidized PP) fraction on the mechanical and structural properties of produced fibers
is investigated. Polypropylene powder without antioxidant materials was oxidized at the suitable thermal condition. The various
fractions of OPP were blended with PP in the chips shape, and employed as starting material in a melt spinning machine for
production of filament yarn. Then as-spun filaments were drawn and finally textured. Structural properties including density,
birefringence and FTIR and physical properties consisting of shrinkage, tensile properties and crimp properties were measured.
Results show that blending of OPP with virgin PP reduces tacticity and crystallinity, but it hasn’t any effect on orientation.
Physical properties of drawn yarns and textured yarns were reduced with increasing of OPP fraction. Moreover, increasing of
OPP fraction in blend, reduce crimp properties of textured yarn. 相似文献

To increase the spinning speed of poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) fibers, polystyrene (PS) was selected as an additive
polymer in the PTT matrix. Mixing of the immiscible PS with PTT led to an increase in spinning speed up to 5,500 m/min. PS
was employed to improve the extensibility of the matrix PTT in the spinning process as it can prevent PTT molecular orientation.
Experimental results show that the mixing of PS achieved this. The elongation at break of spun fibers increased with the amount
of PS. PS addition prevented fiber orientation, especially amorphous orientation, and improved drawability, and as such, increased
spinning speed up to 5,500 m/min. 相似文献

Mechanical properties and the long-term degradation properties of the recycled PET yarns are typically lower than the virgin PET yarns due to the contaminants coming from non-PET bottles, labels and caps etc. For environmental reasons, recycling of post-consumer polyester bottles into textile fibers has become commercially attractive. We studied mechanical and chemical recycling processes and examined their effects on yarn properties such as tensile properties, thermal characteristics, hydrolysis and photo-degradation. It was found that the virgin and the chemical recycled yarns with sufficient purification show similar processability, physical and mechanical properties, and long-term degradation behavior. The results provide useful information on recycled PET yarns for processability and serviceability for the high-end use. 相似文献

This paper presents the low stress mechanical properties of plain fabrics woven from cotton, bamboo viscose and cotton-bamboo viscose blended yarns. Three blends (100 % cotton, 50:50 cotton-bamboo and 100 % bamboo) were used to produce three yarn counts (20, 25 and 30 Ne). Each of these yarns was used to make fabrics with different pick densities (50, 60 and 70 picks per inch). It was found that bending rigidity, bending hysteresis, shear rigidity, shear hysteresis and compressibility is lower for bamboo fabrics as compared to those of 100 % cotton fabrics. On the other hand, extensibility, tensile energy and compressional resilience are higher for 100 % bamboo fabrics than 100 % cotton fabrics. Higher pick density increases linearity of load-elongation curve, bending rigidity, shear rigidity and compressional resilience. Shear and bending rigidities show very good correlation with the respective hysteresis values. 相似文献

The performance of high tenacity nylon 6.6 tyre cords with different linear densities (dtex) was investigated by measuring
some mechanical, structural and physical properties. The structural changes due to the dipping process were analyzed by differential
scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction analysis. The breaking strengths were increased with the increasing linear densities,
but decreased with twist level. As the linear density increases, shrinkage values of greige cords were increased. Shrinkage
is mostly dependent on amorphous parts of the cords. Since amorphous parts of the dipped cords are lower than greige cords,
shrinkage values for dipped cord were lower than that of greige cords. Adhesion values were increased with the increasing
linear density and twist level. It has been observed that increasing of the twist levels explicitly improved the fatigue resistance
in the cases 1400 and 1880 dtex cords. But, no significant changes were observed for 940 dtex cords. It has been found that
cords with lower linear densities had better fatigue resistance than that of the cords with higher linear densities. 相似文献

A methodology and apparatus have been proposed to indirectly evaluate twist liveliness of spun yarns by measuring the number
of snarl turns formed of a yarn submerged in a water bath. A comparative study was carried out to evaluate the effectiveness
of water in the measurement of yarn snarls. T tests showed that water has a significant effect in the snarl forming and testing
results. Systematic studies were then carried out in the intra and inter laboratories to evaluate the feasibility and accuracy
of the proposed measurement system. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) for the studies showed that there is no significant difference
in measuring twist liveliness between the operators in the same laboratory and between the operators from different laboratories,
respectively. The largest variance in the tests is attributed to the expected variation in the level of snarl turns in different
yarn specimens. The experimental results showed that the developed yarn snarling apparatus has made accurate and repeatable
measurements of twist liveliness over a range of 100 % cotton ring spun yarn counts. 相似文献

There are various structural parameters (number of filament, cross-sectional shape, linear density, etc.) determined during the production of synthetic fibre and these parameters influence product features. Among these parameters, cross-sectional shape of fibres has a significant importance. Desired features can be added to the products by varying the cross-sectional shape and in this way; new products with improved features or with high added value can be produced. As a consequence, studies on this subject have increased recently. In this study, the effects of different cross-sectional shapes and yarn linear density on the features of polyester partially oriented yarn (POY) have been investigated. Five different cross-sectional shapes named round, trilobal, tetra, hexsa and octolobal and two different linear densities have been used in the study. Tenacity-elongation and unevenness tests have been applied onto yarns. As a result of the study, it was seen that round, tetra and octolobal cross-sectional shapes lead to production of yarn with high tenacity and breaking elongation while trilobal and hexsa leads to production of yarn with low tenacity. In addition, due to its deep-channelled structure, hexsa crosssectional shape led to POY yarn structure with a high unevenness rate. It was also seen that an increase in the rate of linear density decreased the tenacity and breaking elongation rates of yarn and reduced POY unevenness. 相似文献

Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofiber filaments were manufactured continuously for several hours by a homemade multi-needle electrospinning device. The yarns were continuously obtained by plying and twisting nanofiber filaments using a self-made twisting device. The structures and mechanical properties of yarns were investigated. The influences of twist setting temperatures and periods of time on morphology and mechanical properties were discussed. The results showed that the alignment degree of nanofibers along the filament axis could reach 70.9 %. The twist angle increased with increasing twists and the number of filaments. With increasing twists, the breaking stress and strain increased initially and then decreased; the maximum breaking stress and strain were 34.7 MPa and 26.1 %, respectively; the initial modulus decreased with increasing twists and plies, the maximum modulus was 391.3 MPa. Both the breaking stress and strain increased with the increase of twist setting temperatures and times. The optimal setting temperature and time were 90 °C and 30 min, respectively, the maximum breaking stress and strain were 32.8 MPa and 20.8 %, meanwhile, the crystallinity improved from 34.5 % to 39.9 %. This study demonstrates the possibility of continuously and stably manufacturing PAN nanofiber yarns. 相似文献

The moisture transport expressed with wicking is one of the most important aspects in clothing science and strongly effects on the quality of clothes. Wicking is a spontaneous transport of liquid driven into a porous system by capillary forces. Furthermore, the packing density has a direct relation with the yarn structure. At the present work, the effects of yarn count and twist factor on the wicking height and packing density of lyocell ring-spun yarns was investigated. Achieving the objectives of this research, an image processing method was developed to determine the packing density of samples. Experimental results were also used to develop a regression model to predict the wicking height based on the packing density, yarn count, twist factor and rising time. The results demonstrated that the correlation coefficient between the predicted and measured wicking height was 0.98 indicating the capability of the presented model to predict the wicking height of lyocell ring-spun yarns. 相似文献

Synthetic fibers are generally produced with circular cross sectional shapes. Other cross sectional shaped fibers such as trilobal, triangular, hollow and pentagonal fibers are also produced to improve some properties of fibers and fabrics such as lustre, handle, wicking rate, strength, stiffness and bulkiness. In this research we aimed to investigate compressional behaviours of fabrics knitted from polypropylene fibers having three different cross sectional shapes; namely circular, trilobal and triangular. Morphological, structural and mechanical properties of produced fibers were evaluated by using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, differential scanning calorimetry and tensile tester, respectively. In terms of structural and mechanical properties, no significant differences were found related to fiber cross sectional shapes. Then, plain knitted farbrics were produced and compressional properties of these fabrics were investigated. Fabrics knitted from trilobal fibers showed the highest compressibility properties and it is followed by fabrics which are produced from triangular and circular fibers. 相似文献

The effect of spinning parameters on core-spun yarns properties manufactured using three-strand modified method (TSMM) was analyzed. Of the various spinning parameters, strand spacing, yarn linear density and yarn twist have a crucial effect on core-spun yarn properties. To achieve the objectives of this research, general physical properties of core-spun yarns together with existing standards were thoroughly studied. First of all, the strand spacing and yarn linear density were optimized. Afterwards, the effects of variation of yarn twist and sheath roving linear density on core-spun yarns properties were investigated. Finally, the physical and mechanical properties of TSMM yarns were compared with those of siro and conventional ring core-spun yarns counterparts. It was found that, the best strand spacing and yarn linear density to produce core-spun yarns are 8 mm and 45 tex, respectively. Results showed that, tenacity of TSMM yarns increases up to a certain twist level beyond which it reduces. The result confirmed that 45 tex yarns produced by three rovings of the same count are superior with regards to tenacity and hairiness. The optimized yarns produced by three-strand modified method enjoy superior physical and mechanical properties in comparison to the ring and siro core-spun yarns. 相似文献

The effect of twist level on the mechanical and thermal properties of nylon 66 and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) tyre cords
has been studied. Effects of the twist on some critical cord properties such as tensile properties, shrinkage, shrink force,
adhesion and fatigue have been evaluated. Breaking strength was decreased between 3.1 and 7.3 twist factor values, whereas
breaking elongation was increased, on both nylon 66 and polyester cords. The tensile behaviour of high twist factor PET is
similar to that of low twist factor nylon cords. This is an advantage for the possibility to get closer the properties of
different materials by adjusting theirs twist factors. The shrinkage values increase with increasing twist factor, whereas
shrinks force values decrease for greige nylons and polyester cords. Adhesion and fatigue resistance is increased with increasing
twist factors. 相似文献

Core spun yarns are applied for various purposes that especially require the multi-functional performance. This research reports
on the core spinning effect on the yarn strength. We prepared various core yarns by combining different kinds of high tenacity
filaments in core with cotton staples in sheath with various twist levels in the ring spin system. And the tensile strength
was tested to investigate the contribution of the core-sheath structure to the core yarn strength. The influence of the twist
level was also checked up on the relationship between the core-sheath structure and the yarn strength. Results turned out
that the core-sheath weight ratio had influence on the tensile properties of the ring core-spun yarns in different ways according
to the core filaments used for the yarn. Increasing the twists yielded a monotone decreasing strength for the aramid and the
basalt core yarns, while the PET core yarns showed almost unchanged strength, which could be ascribed to the extensional property
of the filaments. 相似文献

Well-aligned PMIA nanofiber mats were fabricated by electrospinning and then hot-stretching along the fiber axis was used to improve the mechanical properties of nanofibers in this paper. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used to characterize the morphology and properties of nanofibers. The results showed that the nanofibers became thinner and better alignment than the as-spun nanofibers after hotstretching, and the average diameter of the nanofibers decreased with the increasing of the tensile force. In the same time, hotstretching improved the crystallinity and T g of the as-spun PMIA nanofibers. The tensile strength and modulus of the hotstretched nanofiber mats peaked at ca.50 % and ca.196 % respectively at the tensile force of 12 N compared with the as-spun nanofiber mats. 相似文献

Spirality is one of the major potential problems in knitted fabrics and garments. It affects the aesthetics and physical properties
of the garment produced, such as the seam displacement, shape retention, pattern distortion and sewing difficulties. In this
paper, a comparative study has been carried out to evaluate the physical performance of 100 % cotton knitted fabrics and garments
produced by the modified low twist and conventional ring yarns through the actual wearing and washing trials. Experimental
results showed that the properties of side seam displacement, fabric spirality, dimensional stability and skewness change
of the T-shirts and sweaters made by the modified single yarns are comparable to those of garments made from the control plied
yarns but much improved when compared to those from the control single yarns. In addition, the pilling resistance and bursting
strength of the knitted fabrics made by the modified single yarns can still maintain a reasonably high level at a low yarn
twist. 相似文献

Effect of pressing time on physical and mechanical properties of phenolic-impregnated bamboo strips was evaluated. Bamboo strips (Gigantochloa scortechinii) were impregnated with low molecular weight phenol formaldehyde (LMwPF) resin. Samples were submerged in LMwPF resin using a vacuum chamber of 750 mmHg for 1 h before it was released within 1.5 h. Treated strips were dried in an oven with a temperature of 60 °C within 6–9 h. It was hot pressed at 14 kg m?2 and a temperature of 140 °C for 5, 8, 11, 14 and 17 min. The physical and mechanical properties of the test indicated that the properties of phenolic-treated strips have significantly increased as compared to control samples. Dimensional stability (water absorption, thickness swelling and linear expansion) of the phenolic-treated properties were significantly lower than control after 5-min pressing time. The antishrink efficiency (ASE) of phenolic-treated strips increased when pressing time were extended from 5 to 17 min. The mean value of modulus of rupture (MOR) for the control samples (177 N mm?2) showed a significant difference with phenolic-treated strips after 17-min pressing time (224 N mm?2). However, there is no significant difference in compression parallel to grain. The MOE of phenolic-treated strips was 21,777 N mm?2 and for control was 18,249 N mm?2, whereas the compression parallel to grain values for phenolic-treated and control samples were 94 and at 77 N mm?2, respectively. 相似文献

Optimization of mechanical properties is required in the applications of tissue-engineered scaffolds. Thermal annealing strategy is proposed to improve the mechanical properties of polyelectrolyte complex nanofiber membranes. The effects of annealing on the structural and mechanical properties of electrospun chitosan-gelatin (CG) nanofiber membranes were investigated using tensile tests, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Tensile test results showed that annealing processing at 90 °C produced 1.3-fold and 1.1-fold increase on Young’s modulus and tensile strength, respectively. By scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation, it was found there was a formation of partial interfiber bonding when annealing temperature was elevated over the glass transition temperature (T g ) of CG nanofibers. FTIR results showed enhanced molecular interactions within fibers, suggesting that annealing treatment promoted the conjunction between chitosan and gelatin. In contrast, no detectable changes in crystallinity for CG nanofiber specimens were exhibited on XRD patterns following annealing treatment. In addition, thermal annealing induced the improvement in thermal stability, aqueous stability and swelling capacity. Therefore, annealing is proved to be an effective strategy for mechanical enhancement of polyelectrolyte complex nanofibrous scaffolds. The enhanced stiffness and strength is mainly attributed to the formation of interfiber bonding and strengthened molecular interactions between chitosan and gelatin. 相似文献

This paper presents the results of a current study on polypropylene matrix composites processed by injection, with two different glass fiber lengths and five different volume fractions. Physical and mechanical properties were obtained, namely flexural strength, stiffness modulus and fracture toughness. The mechanical properties of the composites increased significantly with the increase of the fibers volume fraction in agreement with the Counto model. The effect of water immersion time was also analysed. Immersion in water promotes a marked decrease in mechanical properties in the early seven-ten days, and afterwards tends to stabilize. Water causes a decrease of the relative strength which increases with fiber volume fraction and reaches about 29 % and 32 % for 20 % of 4.5 mm fiber length and for 25 % of 12 mm fiber length respectively, after 28 days immersion in water. Fracture toughness increases with fiber volume fraction and is always higher for 12 mm fiber length composites than for 4.5 mm fiber length composites. 相似文献

The present paper is concerned with the influence of opening roller speed, drum speed difference and suction air pressure
on properties of polyester and acrylic open-end friction spun yarns. The results shows that the opening roller speed and the
suction air pressure have considerable influence on the characteristics of polyester and acrylic open-end friction spun yarns.
In case of polyester yarns the unevenness, imperfection and hairiness decreases and the yarn tenacity increases with the increase
in opening roller speed and suction air pressure. However for acrylic yarns the unevenness and imperfections decreases and
tenacity increases with the increase in opening roller speed and suction air pressure. 相似文献

Ni-coated short carbon fibers (Ni-SCFs) were prepared using an electrodeposition method. Short carbon fiber (SCF) reinforced epoxy composites were prepared by changing the fiber content (0.1–0.7 wt%). To investigate the effect of Ni-coated short carbon fibers on the mechanical and electrical properties of the composites, we prepared two kinds of reinforcements: the short carbon fibers treated by 400 °C (400 °C treated SCFs) and Ni-SCFs. Fracture characteristics of the composites revealed the Ni coatings and the epoxy matrix had a better interface, so that the results of tensile and bending strength were better in epoxy/Ni-SCFs composites than those in epoxy/400 °C treated SCFs composites. The 400 °C treated SCFs decreased the electrical resistivity of the epoxy composites, compared to the pure epoxy. However the epoxy/Ni-SCFs composites had lower electrical resistivity than epoxy/400 °C treated SCFs with the same fiber content. 相似文献
