The objective of this study was to evaluate the distribution and phagocytotic function of macrophages in bovine caruncles during pregnancy. Pregnant Holstein caruncles obtained at a slaughterhouse and by Caesarean section just before the onset of parturition were used. Macrophages in these caruncles were observed immunohistochemically and histochemically. Macrophages were present in the parenchyma of caruncles throughout pregnancy. The macrophages were irregular in shape, and exhibited thin, long processes along the main and intermediate septa of caruncles. Macrophages increased as the gestation period progressed. Acid phosphatase activity of the macrophages appeared at 5-6 months of gestation and remained until the end of gestation period. In particular, macrophages showed strong acid phosphatase activity at the peripheral region of the caruncles just facing the chorionic villi. In addition, they were conglomerated in the hyperplastic prominences of caruncles. These results indicate that caruncle macrophages maintain the appropriate size and shape of each caruncle during pregnancy.  相似文献

The architecture of the retina, choroid and anterior eye segment was investigated in 12 Syrian hamsters using scanning electron micrographs of methylmethacrylate corrosion casts. The hamster eye receives its primary blood supply from the long posterior ciliary artery, which directly enters the optic nerve head, and divides into three branches: the central retinal artery and medial and lateral long posterior ciliary arteries. In the retina the central retinal artery divides into six radiating branches. Retinal arterioles form a slender and long course to capillaries. Retinal capillaries are extremely thin in diameter and form a sparse capillary network. The choroid is supplied by the long posterior ciliary arteries. Choroidal arterioles exhibit a thick and short course to the choriocapillaris. The choriocapillaris is thick and sinusoid-like, forming a dense network in the choroid. The ciliary body, iris and bulbar conjunctiva are supplied by the anterior ciliary arteries, which are branches of the long posterior ciliary arteries. Capillaries supplying the anterior margin of the ciliary process are large in diameter with an irregular bore, forming a thoroughfare channel draining blood in the ciliary arterioles into the pars plana vessels. Blood from the retina is drained by the central retinal veins. Venules from the anterior eye segment empty into the vortex veins via the pars plana vessels. Venous blood from the choroid is drained only by vortex veins via the choroidal veins. The functional significance of the vascular architecture and species differences are discussed.  相似文献

The microvasculature of the eye of 10 pigs was investigated using scanning electron micrographs of corrosion casts. The ciliary body, iris and bulbar conjunctiva were supplied by the iridociliary ring artery via the long posterior ciliary artery. Capillaries of the ciliary process were of large diameter (23.2-27.5 microm) with an irregular bore, forming a thoroughfare channel draining blood in the ciliary arterioles into the pars plana venous vessels. Arterioles and venules in the iris exhibited a zigzag or spiral features. The third palpebra was supplied by the anterior ciliary artery. The capillary bed of the third palpebra was dense and was formed by many rows of fine hair-pin loops. Capillaries in the bulbar conjunctiva formed a sparse network disposing approximately parallel to the epithelium and formed a well-developed venous plexus, draining into the vortex veins. Retinal arterioles formed a slender and long course to capillaries. Retinal capillaries were extremely thin (3.0-4.0 microm in diameter). The choroid was supplied by the short posterior ciliary arteries. Choroidal arterioles exhibited a thick and short course to the choriocapillaris. The choriocapillaris was flat and sinusoid-like (8.9-13.9 microm in diameter), forming a dense sheet-like network. Blood from the choroid emptied into the episcleral vein via the vortex vein. Blood from the retina was drained by the posterior ciliary veins. The functional significance of this vascular architecture was discussed.  相似文献

The Vascular Architecture of the Porcine Small Intestine   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0       下载免费PDF全文
The vascular anatomy of the porcine small intestine was studied by injection of intestinal vessels with India Ink. Examination of transverse and longitudinal serial sections of the injected intestine facilitated a three-dimensional interpretation of the vascular pattern. An artery from the mesentery penetrated the tunica muscularis, supplied muscular branches and passed on to the submucosa where it formed an arterial rete. From the submucosal arteries, arterioles arose and followed a direct axial course to the tips of villi where they ramified into a subepithelial capillary plexus. Some of the capillaries, at the midpoint of the villus, fused into paraxial venules, which emptied into a “transverse venule” at the base of the villus. Other villus capillaries were continuous with those of the crypts. The pericryptal capillary plexus received a few arterial branches from the submucosal arteries. The transverse venule and the pericryptal capillary plexus emptied into large, segmentally dilated veins in the submucosa. The submucosal veins formed an extensive anastomosing network drained by large venous trunks which passed through the muscle layers to the mesentery.

The observations suggest possible relationships between the vascular pattern and intestinal fluid movement.

Cell-maceration/scanning electron microscopy, serial sections and scanning electron microscopy of vascular resin casts were employed to demonstrate the arrangement of collagen fibers in the terminal hepatic venules, involving the central, intercalated and collecting veins in dog liver. In cell-maceration specimens, each collagen fiber was observed to run in various directions, forming a sheath with a compact meshwork of collagen fibers. The collagenous meshwork in the hepatic venules was looser than those of the terminal portal venules and hepatic arterioles. Some collagen fibers formed bundles with an elongated spiral arrangement encircling the wall of the terminal hepatic venules. In resin casts, these venules were observed as a twisted configuration caused by spiral collagen bundles. A helical modification of such connective tissue bundles might provide a mechanically stable vascular structure and permit reversible changes in linear and circumferential vascular dimensions at the terminal tributaries of veins. Round or oval pores with diameters of approximately 9 microns were also observed in the sheath of collagen fibers. These pores, together with the relatively loose collagenous meshwork in the hepatic venules, might play a role in lymphocyte migration from these venules into the surrounding tissue and provide high permeability to the venule walls. No such helical configuration and pores were observed in either the portal venules or the hepatic arterioles.  相似文献

The circulatory system of the large intestine of 27 pigs was examined by means of corrosion anatomy (vascular casts), histology and electron microscopy. The results were as follows: The Aa. et Vv. breves et longae leave the mesenteric vessels and reach the wall of the intestine at the mesenteric margin. The short vessels enter the deeper layers of the wall, whereas the Aa. et Vv. longae, by taking a variable subserous course, reach the submucosa af ter penetrating the muscular layers. The tela submucosa contains an arterial and a venous vascular plexus. Where the submucosa is larger, there is a three-dimensional vascular network, a deep and superficial vascular plexus that are closely interconnected. The deep plexus is applied to the inner circular muscles, whereas the superficial plexus is adjacent to the muscularis mucosae. The deep arterial plexus receives its af flux from the Aa. breves et longae and provides part of the circular muscle layers with recurrent muscle branches. The vascularization of the mucosa is derived from the (superficial) submucosal plexus. The arteries that ascend the tunica mucosa ramify, in the form of a brush, into some arterioles. In the basal part of the mucosa, they turn into a periglandular capillary system, i.e. a network around each Lieberkühn crypt. Close to the lumen, a polygonal subepithelial capillary system is formed. Below the epithelium of the mucosal surf ace, the capillaries turn into postcapillary venules. These are running vertically through the submucosa, with few infiowing side branches, and finally enter the submucosal plexus. An intermuscular plexus is formed by anastomoses between the circular and the longitudinal muscular layers from the branches of the subserous-submucosal connections. This intermuscular plexus provides the capillaries for the tunica muscularis. The subepithelial capillaries are, above all, furnished with a so-called fenestrated endothelium, whereas the capillaries of the pericryptal mucosa mainly show a continuous endothelium. The latter contains multiple vesicles that can fuse to form transcytoplasmic channels. In the wall of the large intestine of the pig, there are no sure indications as to the existence of either arterio-venous anastomoses or haemodynamic regulatory structures.  相似文献

The vascular system of the large intestine of 12 horses was examined by means of vascular corrosion casts, histology and transmission electron microscopy providing the following results. The Aa. et Vv. breves et longae leave the mesenteric vessels, respectively the subserously on the teniae lying cecal vessels to reach the tela subserosa at the mesenteric margin. The short vessels enter the deeper layers of the wall instantly, whereas the Aa. et Vv. longae move towards the submucosa by penetrating the muscular layers after a variable subserous course. The tela submucosa contains an arterial and a venous vascular plexus. In broader areas of the submucosa a three-dimensional vascular network can be found. This consists of a deep and a superficial vascular plexus, which are closely interconnected. The deep plexus is applied to the inner circular muscles, whereas the superficial plexus is adjacent to the muscularis mucosae. The (deep) arterial plexus receives its afflux from the Aa. breves et longae and supplies parts of the circular muscle layer with recurrent muscle branches. The vascularisation of the mucosa also originates from the submucosal (superficial) plexus. In the basal tunica mucosa, the ascending arteries form a transversal network from which arterioles branch into periglandular capillaries around each Lieberkühn crypt. Close to the lumen, a polygonal subepithelial capillary system is formed. The capillaries turn into postcapillary venules immediately below the epithelium of the mucosal surface. Veins move vertically through the submucosa to enter the submucosal plexus after few inflowing side branches. Branches of the subserous-submucosal connections form an intermuscular plexus between the circular and longitudinal muscular layer. This plexus supplies the capillaries of the tunica muscularis. The subepithelial capillaries are predominantly lined with a fenestrated endothelium, whereas the capillaries of the pericryptal mucosa mainly show a continuous endothelial lining. The latter contain multiple vesicles, which may fuse in order to form transcytoplasmic channels. Sphincter-like muscle bundles at the transition points from capillaries to venules may provide hemodynamic regulatory structures in the submucosa of the horse. Veins with circumferential cushions of smooth muscle fibres, so-called ‘throttle veins’, are also found.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To characterize structural changes in pulmonary vessels of dogs with dirofilariosis. ANIMALS: 8 dogs with dirofilariosis and 2 unaffected control dogs. PROCEDURE: Pulmonary artery pressure was measured in affected dogs, and dogs then were euthanatized. Scanning electron microscopy was used to examine vascular corrosion casts of pulmonary vasculature. Tissue sections of pulmonary vasculature were evaluated by use of histologic examination. RESULTS: Pulmonary artery pressure was higher in dogs with severely affected pulmonary vessels. In tissue sections, dilatation, as well as lesions in the tunica intima and proliferative lesions resulting in constriction or obstruction, were frequently observed in branches of the pulmonary artery. Numerous dilated bronchial arteries were observed around affected pulmonary arteries. Hyperplastic venous sphincters were observed in small pulmonary veins and venules. In corrosion casts, affected pulmonary lobar arteries had dilatation, pruning, abnormal tapering, constriction, and obstruction. In small arteries and arterioles, surface structures representing aneurisms and edema were seen. Bronchial arteries were well developed and extremely dilated, and they formed numerous anastomoses with pulmonary arteries at all levels, from the pulmonary trunk to peripheral vessels. Capillaries in the lungs were dilated with little structural change. Small pulmonary veins and venules had irregular annular constrictions that were caused by hyperplastic smooth muscle cells of venous sphincters. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Scanning electron microscopy of microvascular casts delineated links between the bronchial and pulmonary circulations in dogs with dirofilariosis. Results of scanning electron microscopy provided a structural explanation for the development of pulmonary circulatory disturbances and pulmonary hypertension in dogs affected by dirofilariosis.  相似文献

Ovaries and oviducts of the adult African Clawed Toad (Xenopus laevis DAUDIN, 1802) were studied by light microscopy (LM) of paraplast embedded tissue sections and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of vascular corrosion casts (VCCs). Histomorphology revealed that ovarian vessels located in the thecal layers. Ovarian and interlobar arteries displayed a horse-shoe shaped longitudinally running bundle of vascular smooth muscle cells. Follicular blood vessels showed flattened profiles, which were confirmed by scanning electron microscopy in vascular corrosion casts. The flattened profiles obviously led to high intravasal pressures, which locally prevented filling of the follicular capillary bed. Oviduct arteries pierced the fibrous stroma surrounding the oviduct mucosa. In the pars convoluta, the mucosa consisted of a ciliated simple columnar epithelium and tubular oviduct glands that opened between ciliated epithelial cells into the oviduct lumen. Oviduct arteries branched at the basolateral surfaces of tubular glands. After a short tangential course, arterioles branched into capillaries which ran radially between oviduct glands towards the subepithelium. Anastomoses at different heights connected capillaries of neighbouring glands. Subepithelially, capillaries ran longitudinally and undulated. Postcapillary venules radiated centrifugally towards the stroma to finally drain into oviduct veins located in the stroma. Oviduct vascular densities clearly reflected non-ovulatory and ovulatory states.  相似文献

Lungs were obtained from five adult Baird's beaked whales (Berardius bairdii) and examined by means of light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy of corrosion casts. The alveolar septa of these whales are thick with a connective tissue core and a bi-layer capillary bed. A double capillary network is regularly found in the alveolar duct and alveolar septa. Occasionally, septa adjacent to alveoli and alveoli themselves show only a single capillary layer. The distance between the two capillary layers has a tendency to decrease toward the end of airspaces, suggesting an end result of capillary fusion. Vascular replicas of venous vessels have annular furrows at regular intervals of 50 to 100 microm, which are caused by focal aggregations of collagen fibers circularly oriented and located immediately underneath the endothelium. The first valves appear in the collecting venules gathering alveolar capillaries. These valves are quite characteristic of flap-, funnel-and/or chimney like structures.  相似文献

Microangioarchitecture of the mucosa of the Antrum pyloricum in rabbit was studied by optical and scanning electron microscopy. Passing the lamina muscularis mucosae, arteries of the submucosa reach the lamina propria and branch in to the terminal arteries forming a subglandular network. From these vessels, two capillary nets arise. The first forms a capillary skein around the base of the glands, while the second ascends along the tubuli, moving upwards to the surface along the glandular tubuli. These ascending capillaries also arise directly from the subglandular arterioles of the lamina propria, as well as from capillaries of the basal parts of the glandular tubuli. Subepithelial capillaries form arcuate loops with 2-3 venules or collecting venules, which run into the venous net in the basal region of the lamina propria. Numerous horizontal interconnections exist between the collecting venules but arteriovenous anastomosis in the mucosa was not observed.  相似文献

In order to explore the making procedure of vascular corrosion casts of ovarian artery in sheep and study the distribution of the blood vessels, this study was carried out and it would provide the foundation of blood vessels anatomy of reproductive system including blood supply mechanism of female ovaries in mammals. Firstly, samples of the uterus and appendages in sheep were collected, and then ovarian arteries and their branches were infused with 8% ABS perfusion agents. After the agent became solid, the samples' soft tissues were corroded away with 30% hydrochloric acid, washed them down with running water and the moderate trim process was done for obtaining the complete vascular corrosion casts of ovarian artery in sheep. The finished casts showed that the ovarian artery in sheep arises three branches including uterine, ovarian and tubal. The ovarian branch showed complicated arrangement such as the spiral artery of ovarian hilus, light spiral piece of ovarian hilus and tight spiral piece of ovarian branch. The results confirmed that the ovarian branch was characterized by the presence of a tight spiral configuration in sheep, the ovarian arterioles were fasten on ovarian hilus, and there were some dense capillaries which extend to other regions of the ovary followed them. Through this procedure, the vascular distribution of corrosion casts was clear,three-dimensional and with smooth surface. It could provide a reference or model for the study of ovarian blood vessels in mammals.  相似文献

The third eyelid protects the eye, contribute to the aqueous portion of the pre‐ocular film and its distribution over the corneal surface, as well as removal of foreign material from the anterior surface of the eye. It is rather vulnerable during fights and clinicians often have to perform surgery for third eyelid neoplasia. In dogs, this lid has a triangular shape, being widest at its free margin. It is vascularized by branches of the malar artery. Being of such importance as an adnexa of the eye, the authors concentrated their attention on its vascularization, which is not well defined. Methods: Scanning Electronic Microscopy of vascular corrosion casts and intact tissue. Observations: It was quite interesting to notice the presence of two patterns of vascularization inside the third eyelid. One can say that there are two segmental levels of vessels. In one of these there is a predominance of arteries and veins, while in the other a meshwork of third order arteries, capillaries and post‐capillary venules are present. In fact, the branch of the malar artery that reaches the base of the third eyelid divides into smaller branches that cross almost the complete length of the lid giving only a few collateral vessels, in a monopodical way, and only near the free margin of the lid is possible to observe dicothomical ramifications that became rather anastomotic (being anastomoses of type I and II are present) and contribute to the microvascular meshwork. This microvascular net is drained by post‐capillary venules and veins that empty as a brush into bigger veins that occupy the same segmental level as the third eyelid artery. Remarks: This uncommon angioarchitecture is probably an adaptation to the fact that in the medial canthus of the eye this lid has a smaller space and the way of obtaining an efficient vascularization is by going straight to the top of the lid.  相似文献

Vasculature of the ophthalmic rete (rete ophthalmicum) in the night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) was studied using scanning electron microscopy of vascular corrosion casts and light microscopy on tissue sections. Most blood to the eyeball and a lesser volume of blood to the brain passed through the ophthalmic rete via the external ophthalmic artery. The collateral retial arterioles originated from the external ophthalmic artery forming a flat and fusiform-shaped arterial network at the ventrotemporal region of the eyeball. The arterial network was intermixed with a similar complex of the veins from the eye. The ophthalmotemporal artery, which supplied the eyeball posteriorly, and supraorbital and infraorbital arteries, which supplied the eyeball anteriorly, originated from the rete. Blood from the eye, which is a site of potential heat loss, drained into the ophthalmic rete via the ophthalmotemporal vein. On the casts of retial arterioles, slit-like cleavages at branching sites representing flap valves, which might play a role as sluice valves, were seen. In addition, marks of circularly running grooves, which might represent tufts of smooth muscle cells and might contribute to a sphincter activity, were observed. These anatomical specializations of the avian ophthalmic rete, involving parallel arrangement of arteries and veins, may function to facilitate counter-current heat exchange and to regulate blood pressure and volume to the eye and the brain.  相似文献

The arterial system of the gills of carp and its histological structure were studied light and electron microscopically by making Mercox or Neoplane Latex corrosion cast preparations. Four pairs of afferent and efferent branchial arteries, and a pair of afferent and efferent pseudobranchial arteries were identified in the branchial arterial system. The 1st and 2nd afferent branchial arteries are given off directly from the ventral aorta, and the 3rd and 4th afferent arteries originate from their common trunk, which is branched off from the ventral aorta caudal to the origin of the former branchial arteries. Numerous afferent filamental arteries are connected to the lamellar blood capillary networks in the gill lamellae via afferent lamellar arterioles, and efferent filamental arteries followed the efferent lamellar arterioles are converged into four efferent branchial arteries that are connected to the dorsal aorta. To the pseudobranchia, afferent pseudobranchial arteries are connected with the ventral branches of the 1st efferent branchial arteries to provide arterial blood to the organ through the afferent mandibular arteries. Afferent pseudobranchial lamellar arterioles originating from the afferent pseudobranchial filamental arteries are connected with the blood capillary networks in the pseudobranchial lamellae, and blood in the capillary networks is drained into the efferent pseudobranchial filamental arteries via 2-4 pseudobranchial lamellar arterioles. Branches of the efferent pseudobranchial filamental arteries are connected with the arteries to the eyeballs and provide blood to choroid of the vascular tunic of them. Pseudobranchial cells surrounding lamellar capillaries in the pseudobranchia are furnished with abundant mitochondria and tubular structures, and the histological findings suggest the cells may share an ability to exchange physiological materials between the cells and the blood in the capillary networks of pseudobranchia.  相似文献

This research aimed at revealing the structural features of Tibetan sheep's testicular and ovarian vasculature and providing theoretical basis for Tibetan sheep's physiological adaptability in plateau and low-oxygen environments. Through scanning electron microscopy, corrosion casts of the feature of the gonad arterioles were observed and analysed. The results of this study found that centrifugal arteries, centrifugal and centripetal arterioles were distributed in a ‘dendritic’ fashion in the testis lobule, the ovarian arteries and arterioles, which had a spiral shape. Testicular Tibetan Sheep knot-like artery had a denser spiral structure, and there were more branches in the microarteries. On the testis lobule and arteriole of caput epididymidis, the arteriole surface shows the ‘fusiform’ indentation to be more shallower. The ovarian artery had a higher degree of helix; its surface was distributed like a ‘bark-like’ indentation; and the ring was narrower and denser. Nevertheless, the arteriole network had a high concentration and a wide number of branches, as that of the ovarian arteriole network which had more end branches, the surface of the arterioles of ovaries and testicles was scarred and denser. The studies indicate that the structural features of testicular lobule, epididymal arterioles and ovarian arterioles are more conducive to increase the oxygen supply to the gonads tissue and controlling blood flow velocity and metabolism to respond to high altitudes and low-oxygen environments.  相似文献

The resin casts of the respiratory and vascular systems in pigeon lung were examined using a scanning electron microscope. The primary bronchi branched to form many secondary bronchi that anastomosed with each other via the parabronchi. Numerous infundibula protruded from the parabronchi via the atria and ramified into the air capillaries. The pulmonary artery entered into the lung and branched into three vessels that coursed the interparabronchial parts. The intraparabronchial arterioles penetrated the gas-exchange tissue to form the anastomosing networks of blood capillaries. The observation of the double casts of the respiratory and vascular systems revealed three-dimensional complicated networks of air capillaries and blood capillaries.  相似文献

Microvascularization of domestic fowl kidneys was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of vascular corrosion casts (VCCs). Two types of nephrons, mammalian-type (MT) and reptilian-type (RT) nephrons and their glomerular structure were analysed quantitatively by 3D morphometry. A significant difference in shape and size between the MT and RT glomeruli was found. The mean diameter of the RT glomeruli was about 56 µm, while that of MT glomeruli was significantly larger, namely about 80 µm. The afferent arterioles in mammalian-type glomeruli usually bifurcated into two lobular branches and formed a complex glomerular capillary network with numerous loops. Reptilian-type glomeruli consisted of a single capillary forming few loops and leaving the glomerulus as efferent arteriole. Diameters of afferent and efferent arteriolar replicas were similar in all three kidney divisions of MT and RT nephrons. The absence of the interconnecting branches between the MT nephron capillaries at the gross inspection suggests that the mammalian-type nephron glomeruli, although more complex than the reptilian type, are not equivalent to those in mammalian kidneys.  相似文献

The blood vascular system of the stomach wall in the cat The results of 19 vascular-injections of the stomach wall in the cat are given. The arterial supply to the parietal surface is derived principally from the left gastric artery, that of the visceral surface from the short gastric branches of the splenic artery. Thus the arterial distribution is similar to the venous drainage. The blood supply of the tunica serosa and the tunica muscularis in the fornix and body regions arises from a common subserosal and muscular plexus. In the pyloric canal the blood supply arises from separate subserosal and intermuscular plexus. The submucosal plexus consists of both arteries and veins: from this, mucosal arteries ascend to a subglandular plexus and thence arterioles supply the capillary plexus of the lamina propria. Venules return the blood through collecting veins to a basal venous plexus, thence through mucosal veins to the submucosal plexus.  相似文献
