The antibacterial activity of methanol extracts of ten moss species and fractions prepared from 80% methanol extract of Hylocomium splendens were evaluated by disk diffusion method. Nine moss species showed antibacterial activity against Gram (+) bacteria, in particular H. splendens and its ethyl acetate fractions showed stronger activity. Enhancement of antibacterial activity against Staphylococci by UV-A light irradiation was demonstrated in the extracts of Bartramia pomiformis, Ceratodon purpureus and Neckera douglasii. 相似文献

The methanolic extracts and the fractions (petrol, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, butanol) obtained from the leaves, seeds, stem and root barks of Sarcocephalus coadunatus exhibited a high level of broad spectrum antibacterial activity. The activity was more pronounced in the dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and butanol fractions of the leaves; ethyl acetate and butanol fractions of the seeds; dichloromethane fractions of the stem bark and the ethyl acetate fractions of the root bark. The ethanol extracts of Bidens pilosa (whole plant), Bischofia javanica (leaves), Elmerillia papuana (root bark) and Sigesbekia orientalis (whole plant) were partitioned (petrol, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate). The crude ethanolic extracts and all the obtained fractions showed a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity, the ethyl acetate fractions and the petrol fraction of E. papuana being the most effective. Crude extracts and fractions of Bertholletia excelsa stem barks were tested for trypanocidal activity. Acetone and methanol extracts showed significant in vitro trypanocidal activity against trypomastigote form of Trypanosoma cruzi since in the concentration of 500 microg/ml, the parasites were reduced in 100% and 90.3% respectively, whereas the triterpene betulinic acid pure isolated from hexane extract presented 75.4%. 相似文献

The effect of different fractions of methanolic extract of Bauhinia candicans leaves were investigated on experimentally-induced diabetic rabbits. The crude extracts (8 mg/kg) showed hypoglycemic activity along with a reduced urinary glucose excretion. Among the fractions, the highest activity was exhibited by the butanolic fraction (fraction III). Moreover, fraction III reduced plasma glucose level also in normal, as well as, glucose loaded rabbits. These results suggest that B. candicans increases the peripheral metabolism of glucose. 相似文献

Methanolic extracts from inflorescences and leaves of five Cirsium species: C. arvense, C. oleraceum, C. palustre, C. rivulare and C. vulgare and CHCl3, Et2O, EtOAc, n-BuOH fractions obtained from those extracts were investigated for their antioxidant activity. The antioxidant activity measurement, expressed as Total Antioxidant Status, ranged from 0.98 to 2.71 mM/l. The total phenolic content of the samples varied from 12 to 804 mg/g. There was a positive correlation between the total phenolic content and antioxidant activity for MeOH extracts and EtOAc fractions (R2=0.95, 0.8 respectively). 相似文献
