ABSTRACT

This study mapped the scholarly literature in the discipline of food science using co-citation analysis and explored the relationships found within this literature. Using the Journal of Food Science, an examination of a random sample of its articles published from 2000 to 2002 yielded a ranked list of frequently-cited journals. The top thirteen most frequently-cited journals formed a core set for further analysis. Using the SciSearch online database and a standard statistical package (SPSS), a two-dimensional map was created, relationships between the journals were studied, and the discipline of food science was explored. Food science journals tended to be either industry-specific (e.g., dairy science) or industry-general. The journals also tended to focus on either “pure” science (e.g., chemistry) or on applied science and technology. Of the thirteen journals mapped, six fell within the area of pure science, while four were in the area of applied science. Interestingly, three journals fell on the axis line dividing the two. At the same time, seven journals had the characteristics of being industry-general, while six were more industry-specific. The results are consistent with previous indications of the interdisciplinary nature of the field of food science, drawing as it does from many fields such as chemistry, microbiology, engineering, and agricultural science.  相似文献

科技论文体现科研成果的价值,其产出成本由文献、实验设备购置以及科研人员的人力成本投入等方面组成。该文针对外流论文的发表与回购环节引起的经济损失,即外流文献经济损失进行研究。为了解我国科技论文外流造成的文献经济损失,该文提出了论文外流造成的文献经济损失估算模型,先估算单篇论文损失当量,包括发表费、外流论文回购费和翻译费3部分,总损失量等于单篇论文损失当量乘以论文外流总数。通过经济损失估算模型计算得出:单篇论文外流损失当量为3348元;选2012年农业工程领域论文外流为案例,分析论文外流造成的文献经济损失,该年农业工程领域论文外流总数为1991篇,造成的文献经济损失总计为667万元。粗略估计,仅考虑文献,2012年一年,我国110个学科论文外流造成的文献经济总损失量为7.33亿元,其经济损失主要来源于国家科研项目资金,造成国有资产外流。因此,鼓励适当的国际学术交流,但不能盲目地追求SCI论文。  相似文献

After reviewing previously published literature in citation analysis and literature mapping, this study mapped the literature of food science and explored the relationships found within it. Using articles published in the Journal of Food Science from 2003 through 2005, a stratified random sample of citations was studied to yield a ranked list of the thirteen most frequently cited journals, which formed a core set for further analysis. Using the Science Citation Index and a standard statistical package (SPSS13), a two-dimensional map was created, relationships between the journals were studied, and the discipline of food science was explored. The study is an extension of previously published research covering the years 2000–2002 and attempts to analyze and compare the results across time frames.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This paper analyzes the agricultural research output on energy crops and bioenergy for the period 2000–2005. Seven hundred eighty-three (783) articles gathered from CAB Abstracts from this period were analyzed to determine which disciplines have been publishing the most on this subject. The findings show that engineering-related research is most prevalent but that twelve distinct agricultural disciplines produced research on the subject during the study period, with varying degrees of productivity for each discipline. The actual agricultural energy resources being researched were determined by examining the 783 articles. The resources were divided into woody crops, non-woody crops, and animal-based resources, and the number of articles for each was tabulated. The three resource types were further examined to create a list of the individual crops or animal-based resources under investigation, along with the number of articles for each individual crop or resource. The core journal literature dealing with energy crops and bioenergy was determined by doing searches in both CAB Abstracts and Web of Science and tabulating the number of articles appearing in each journal. This allowed for the creation of a core journal list, ranked by the number of appropriate articles appearing in each journal.  相似文献

Since 2007, the Open Access journal PLOS ONE has published 194,622 expert-reviewed scientific papers, including 85 related to the human food sciences such as food safety, general food science, and nutrition. Seventy-five of their corresponding authors had previously published. Their most cited articles in other journals were identified and citation counts compared against those earned by their PLOS ONE papers. No PLOS ONE food sciences paper has yet been cited more than an author's best effort in the field in other journals. More than half (38) of the 75 PLOS ONE papers studied remain uncited even by their own authors.  相似文献

Most of the materials on hearing loss due to noise in the agricultural industry are training and research-oriented materials in the form of brochures, manuals, and journal articles, published by academic presses, government associations, and professional organizations, respectively. Few books are entirely devoted to the topic of hearing loss in agricultural settings. Recently, many occupational and safety Web sites have been adding information and links to publications dealing with hearing loss in the agricultural industry. This Webliography represents the author's best efforts to briefly describe some authoritative Web sites with information targeted to individuals interested in farm occupational hearing loss.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Academic communication and discourse requires access to scientific journals and documents. This study examines the delivery time, costs, and quality of five commercial suppliers of scientific documents. Fifty-three agricultural article requests were ordered simultaneously from The British Library Document Supply Centre (BLDSC), The Canadian Institute of Scientific and Technical Information (CISTI), Information Express (IE), Infotrieve (INFO), UnCover (UNCOVER). Data were gathered on each supplier's performance in filling the requests, the delivery time, the costs, and the quality of the articles supplied. The results of this study showed comparative strengths and limitations. BLDSC, CISTI, and IE were all similar, consistently delivering high quality documents. INFO alone was able to deliver all 53 requested articles. UNCOVER showed two strengths, delivering the requested documents quickly and replying back if the article order was cancelled.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

“Agricultural communications” is an emerging field which is naturally both part of the “agriculture” and “communications” literature. However, it is much broader than just a subset of each. The coverage of standard databases such as CAB Abstracts and Communication Abstracts, while a good start, does not sufficiently cover the field. The Agricultural Communications Documentation Center (ACDC) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has, over the last quarter century, worked to help define and collect this literature, by identifying relevant documents and entering them into a Web-searchable Microsoft Access database. An analysis of this database reveals important clues concerning the literature of agricultural communications. Of the nearly 30,000 documents within the ACDC collection, periodical articles comprise a little over one half, from a core list of 45 periodicals within the ACDC collection. More than one half of these core periodicals are outside the traditional agriculture and life science literature; approximately one third are scholarly journals.  相似文献

期刊论文被SCI数据库收录期刊引用的情况是期刊影响力和国际化水平的标志之一。该文对《农业工程学报》(简称:学报)自创刊以来的所有论文在SCI数据库的引用数据进行了检索和统计分析。统计表明,自1985年5月创刊至2015年12月31日,学报被SCI数据库引用的论文共计3 150篇,累计被引频次6 871次;近5年来被引频次前5位的论文27篇,集中在农业信息技术、农业水土工程、农业生物环境与能源工程、土地整理工程和农业航空等领域;近30 a来被引频次前5位的论文10篇,其中秸秆资源类的5篇,单篇最高被引次52次;引用作者共6 045位,来自全球86个国家和地区;引用最多的作者所在机构是中国科学院;农业工程相关的农学和环境科学在施引论文所属学科中位居前列;引用学报的SCI论文资助来源主要是中国国家自然科学基金。分析结果表明:学报被SCI数据库引用的数量显著增加,近年达到一定规模;引用学报论文的SCI期刊总体处于国际中等水平。从文献应用角度,建议今后期刊可考虑适当增加涉及能源、环境、生态学等方向的基础研究成果和农业信息技术、土地整理工程、农业航空等新兴热点交叉领域的研究成果,并通过继续提升国际化水平吸引更多的国际学者关注。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The goal of this study was to determine the international impact of publications from a variety of institutes of parasitology and to evaluate sources for research in order to improve collection development decisions. Two methods were developed: a method of providing academic librarians with information on the relative impact of their institution when compared with other similar institutions and a method for comparing research sources on an international level. Using articles indexed in ISI Web of Science, twelve parasitology research centers from five countries were compared over a five-year period for number of publications produced and times each of the journal articles was cited.  相似文献

Studying the philosophy of animal grazing and diet selection in rangelands is crucial. There are vast activities regarding animal diet that have gradually been developed since the beginning of rangeland research studies. Survey of the investigation of the animal diets throughout the world can assist in gathering and categorizing the compiled information on this subject. The present study is done by utilizing databases (e. g. Science Direct, Elsevier, and J. Store) as library research method. About 700 articles have been examined in this investigation and the results showed that the study of animal diets started in 1950s and continued in 1980s as applied and comparative research. The early studies were carried out on cattle, sheep, and goats, and then progressed on wildlife including deer, rabbits, red elk, and wild goats. The survey of these investigations have also shown that there are eight methods to study animal diets, including direct vision, fistulation, stomach content, fecal analysis, utilization, and more recently, DNA analysis. The fecal analysis and fistulation method with 11.63% and 8.25%, respectively, as maximum, and the time method and the DNA analysis with 0.15% and 0.29%, respectively, as minimum were the study methods of animal diets in which grasses, forbs and shrubs were used in most of these methods for evaluating the animal diets. Furthermore, the results showed that North America has published about 24.73% of the research articles and Asia about 1.33% articles. Although different journals have published articles on animal diets, Journal of Range Management has published about 21.06% of all the articles. The survey has also indicated that Asia has published less research on animal diet, and the Range Society or the Range Bureau of Iran collected this information from the world as a database that can be used for proper management of the native rangelands in the country.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A five year project to identify the most vital or core literature of the agricultural sciences was undertaken with results for the advanced countries as well as the Third World countries. Citation analysis and other bibliometric techniques were used to identify the most valuable literature for university-level instruction and research. Monographs in seven sub-disciplines of agriculture were evaluated by researchers resulting in a composite list of 8,400 volumes and in 363 core journals. Methods of analysis, evaluation techniques, and end products are described. Four of seven books describing the literature of agriculture have been published. A final product will be the transfer of the full text of the monographs and the journals for a five year period onto compact disk for use in the Third World. Because of copyright and other restrictions, the estimated 280 disk library will not be available to developed countries.  相似文献

利用引文分析方法对中国农科院科研人员引用外文文献的类型进行了统计分析,并对引用量最大的外文期刊的品种数量、学科、语种、出版机构及保障情况也进行了分析。结果表明:科研人员引用的外文文献以期刊比例最高,其次为图书及会议录;引用外文期刊的数量符合布拉德福定律;引用外文期刊的学科非常广泛,主要以生物科学、农业为主,基础医学等也占有较高的比例;科研人员的外文期刊品种数满足率达90%,NSTL印本保障率为95.5%,网络版全文保障率,本馆与NSTL订购之和为60.1%。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to develop a core list of journals for the field of agricultural economics. For this study, the holdings of members of the Agricultural Economics Reference Organization who represent agricultural economics libraries in the U.S. and Canada were surveyed. The resulting list of titles is compared to four similar lists, three in agricultural economics and the fourth in economics. Using any one list of journals is inadequate for collection development in agricultural economics. This survey list, along with other similar lists, can be used for decision making in selection and management of journal titles in the field.  相似文献

In 2016, the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Library was invited to participate in an Ithaka S+R research project with 19 other academic libraries from institutions with strong agricultural programs. This project documents agriculture research practices and needs and reflects a summary of findings from 10 interviews with OSU faculty researchers. In the first of this two-part series of articles, the debate in the clinical literature over the reality or extent of particular positive health benefits of a putative nutraceutical, conjugated linoleic acids (CLAs), in human subjects will be reviewed. In the second article, the means by which animal scientists and farmers—responding as much to annual sales in the hundreds of millions of dollars in health food stores of seed oil capsules rich in CLAs, as opposed to any conclusive clinical science—are aggressively pursuing ways to feed livestock that would naturally increase the concentration of CLAs per conventional consumer dietary portions, essentially allowing meat, eggs, fluid milk and the processed foods derived from them to be marketed as functional foods. In both installments in this series, the core journals covering developments in CLA-related research are identified for agricultural and food science librarians.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The University of Florida (UF) George A. Smathers Libraries is one of 19 institutions that participated in an Ithaka S+R Research Support Services investigation of agricultural sciences. The authors conducted a qualitative analysis of research support services based on one-on-one semistructured interviews with 15 faculty of the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences in 2016. A number of core themes emerged from the analysis of research practices in the local study at UF. Core themes included finding appropriate literature, data management issues and tools, repositories for sharing research products, and research dissemination. This report summarizes a subset of these results, focusing on themes related to academic library services that support agricultural scholars research needs.  相似文献

通过对中国土地整治文献进行系统梳理,客观分析我国土地整治的研究现状,明确当前的研究前沿与热点问题,为土地整治领域的土地管理决策者和科研工作者提供参考。基于CNKI文献数据库,对文献数据采用定性与定量的分类与统计方法,根据论文发表数量、期刊、研究机构、被引频次等指标,分析我国土地整治的研究现状、前沿热点、发展趋势等。结果表明:土地整治领域文献数量在20世纪80年代开始增长,到2010年之后达到高峰,不同期刊在论文发表数量和影响因子上具有一定差异性,研究机构以高等院校和土地管理部门为主,并逐步形成了土地整治研究的核心团队,随着土地整治目标转型,我国土地整治发展经历了4个阶段,土地整治研究尺度主要是宏观、中观、微观三个层次,未来土地整治技术研究应进一步加强,近期土地整治研究热点主要集中在5个方面。研究结论:中国土地整治处于转型发展期,今后应继续深化土地整治基础理论研究,重点在国土综合整治,耕地数量、质量、生态管护,地力退化土地整治,工程装备与技术四个方面加强相关研究,支撑土地整治学科发展。  相似文献

We evaluated soil contamination research based on a bibliometric analysis of 14,090 articles published in journals in the Science Citation Index and Social Sciences Citation Index bibliographic databases from 1999 to 2012, which revealed scientific outputs, subject categories and major journals, international collaboration and geographic distribution of authors and countries, keywords, and hot issues. The results suggested that research on soil contamination developed well with increasing scientific production and research collaboration. Environmental science, engineering environment, soil science, and applied microbiology were the most frequently used subject categories in soil contamination studies. Chemosphere was the most active journal in this field. The clusters of authors were more in the USA, Western European countries, China, Japan, and India. Q. X. Zhou of Nankai University was the most productive author, and S. P. Mcgrath of Rothamsted Research England published the most influential articles. The USA exceeded all other countries with the most independent and collaborative papers in research on global soil contamination. Heavy metal pollution was the hottest issue, and bioremediation is the most promising research topic in combating against heavy metal pollution of soils. The status of publication on soil contamination research described here is significant for researchers on soil contamination in their future work.  相似文献
