1. A 35 d feeding trial with 480 d-old male broiler chickens (Cobb) was conducted to evaluate the effects of graded levels of inulin (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 g/kg diet) in a maize-soybean meal based diet on growth performance, AMEN and apparent ileal digestibility (AID) of crude protein, amino acids, starch, crude fat and fatty acids. A commercial product (Inulina 95®) containing 914?0 g/kg of inulin and a degree of polymerisation (DP) ranging from DP 1–10 to DP 51–60 was used.

2. The performance of birds (feed intake, BW gain and feed to gain ratio) was not affected by the different dietary inclusions of inulin.

3. Dietary inulin significantly improved the AID coefficient of crude protein and crude fat. Also, there was a significant effect of inulin on the digestibility of most amino acids (10 out of 15) and major fatty acids (oleic and linoleic acids). The AID coefficient of starch and the AMEN content of diets were not affected by inulin inclusion.

4. In conclusion, the current study showed that inulin supplementation improved the digestibility of protein and fat in a maize-soybean meal based diet, but had no effect on the performance of broiler chickens.  相似文献

Seven fats were included at 30, 60 and 90 g/kg (experiment 1) and at 20, 40, 60 g/kg (experiment 2) in a semi-synthetic fat-free diet and in a practical diet respectively. Apparent metabolisable energy (AME) was evaluated with 6 replicate cages each with three Ross 1 cockerel chicks 8 d old. Diets were fed for 11 d and a total collection of excreta undertaken for the last four. There was no significant departure from linearity in the response of dietary AME to added fat, indicating no interactions between basal diet and added fat. In experiment 3 one fat was evaluated at 10 rates of inclusion (10 g/kg to 100 g/kg in 10 g increments) in both a semi-synthetic fat-free basal and a practical basal diet. A significant departure from linearity in the response of dietary AME to added fat was detected but there was no significant fat X basal diet interaction. In experiment 4 twelve commercially available fat blends were each evaluated at 10 rates of inclusion (15 g/kg to 150 g/kg in 15 g increments) in a practical basal diet. Significant departures from linearity in the responses of dietary AME to added fat were observed with some of the fats. It was concluded that the AME of fats mat be determined from multi-level assays by interpolating the quadratic relationships derived.  相似文献

1. Several different methods of assaying the metabolisable energy (ME) of ground maize and a maize and glucose mixture were studied. Over a 24‐h period fasted cockerels lost more energy and nitrogen in their excreta than those fed 15 g maize and 15 g glucose monohydrate.

2. Discrepancies in ME values of maize were found between 1) Hill's method (substitution for glucose) and 2) Sibbald's method (the difference between energy ingested and excreted, corrected for endogenous losses by a comparison with fasted controls). These discrepancies were attributed to differences in endogenous energy losses between fed and fasted birds and interactions between the test substance and reference diet.

3. No significant differences could be detected when substitution for glucose was compared to substitution for the entire diet in three experiments.

4. Significant differences in the ME of maize because of the composition of the basal diet were found (semi‐purified: practical; 17·20:14·56 kJ/g; and 50 g/kg added fat: 100 g/kg added fat; 15·94:16·69 kJ/g).

5. Food intakes equal to 70, 60 or 30% of ad libitum did not affect the ME of maize when the substitution for glucose method was used.

6. It is concluded that basal diets for ME determinations should be carefully selected because of possible interactions between dietary components. When ME is determined by feeding small amounts of the test material, endogenous losses may be over‐estimated because the control birds are in a different physiological state (fasted).

1. Performance, gait score (GS), tibial dyschondroplasia (TD), and tibia bone mineralisation and breaking strength were determined in 2880 male and female Ross 208 broilers fed on diets with two different concentrations of dietary metabolisable energy (ME) (11.00 or 12.00 MJ/kg) and 4 different concentrations of available phosphorus (aP) adjusted for dietary ME content (4.0, 4.5, 5.0 or 5.5 g/kg aP in starter and 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 or 5.0 g/kg aP in finisher diets containing 12.00 MJ/kg). 2. Tibia ash, calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) contents in broilers given diets with low ME (11.00 MJ/kg) were greater than those of broilers given diets with higher ME (12.00 MJ/kg). Tibia ash, Ca and P contents increased curvilinearly with increasing dietary aP content. The dietary aP level had no effect on GS. 3. Dietary concentration of ME or aP had no effect on tibia breaking strength. 4. Walking ability, as measured by GS, was negatively correlated with the body weight (BW) of tested birds at 23 and 35 d of age, but the dietary ME content or aP level had no significant effect on GS at 35 d of age. 5. The results indicated that bone mineral content had no clear correlation with the walking ability of broilers.  相似文献

The effects of beta-glucanase expressed by transformed Lactobacillus strains on growth performance, apparent digestibilities of dry matter and crude protein, and apparent metabolisable energy were studied. Two hundred and forty 1-d-old chicks (Avian-43) were randomly divided into three dietary treatment groups and fed with the following diets: (i) basal diet (control) (BD); (ii) basal diet with parental Lactobacillus strains (BDP) and (iii) basal diet with transformed Lactobacillus strains (BDT). At 21 d of age, the body weight, body weight gain and feed conversion ratio of the BDT-fed chickens were significantly improved. At 14 and 21 d of age, the proportions of dry matter in the duodenum, jejunum, ileum, caeca and excreta of chickens given the BDT diet were significantly higher than those of chickens given the BD and BDP diets. Apparent metabolisable energy, digestibilities of crude protein and dry matter were also significantly improved (by 3.5, 5.6 and 3.5%, respectively) by the BDT diet. These results showed that the transformed Lactobacillus strains improved digestibility as well as enhanced the growth performance of chickens.  相似文献

1. Apparent (AME) and true (TME) metabolisable energy values of four diets, containing 50 or 150 g animal fat or maize oil/kg, were estimated in young and adult chickens. The diets were given with and without a supplement of 5 g bile salts/kg. Three feeding rates, ad libitum, and l/6th or 1/3rd of ad libitum were compared.

2. In younger birds, endogenous energy losses were higher when measured in starved birds than when estimated by regression analysis.

3. In young birds, feeding rate had no effect on AME of diets containing 50 g lipids/kg but it significantly affected TME. These results were reversed in adults. AME and TME values of diets containing 150 g lipids/kg were affected by the feeding rate in both young and adult birds.

4. Bile salts increased metabolisable energy values of diets containing high concentrations of saturated fatty acids and their effect was more pronounced in young birds.  相似文献

It has been hypothesised that a relatively high water intake results in a lower food digestibility. The influence of water:food ratios on the metabolisability of a diet was investigated. With ad libitum water and food the water:food ratios varied between 1.17 and 2.47 and showed a positive relationship with metabolisable energy. In groups of hens receiving 40 g food and water sufficient to provide water:food ratios of 1, 2, 3 and 4, the results showed a non-significant negative regression of apparent metabolisable energy with water:food ratios.  相似文献

1. The plasma viscosity values of normal commercial broiler and layer strains of chicken were measured in relation to age and sex.

2. In both broilers and layers plasma viscosity values decreased at 2 weeks of age; probably reflecting the period of change from maternal plasma protein to the bird's self‐synthesised proteins.

3. There was a progressive rise in plasma viscosity in both strains and sexes with age. The increase was greatest in female layers at 17 weeks of age before lay.

4. There was no overall significant difference in viscosity values between fresh and frozen‐stored plasma samples.  相似文献

Artemisinin has been used for centuries to treat malaria, intestinal tract helminthosis, diarrhea, and used as an antipyretic and sedative agent, but the usage in veterinary medicine is a new field. Recently, it has been used successfully to control experimental poultry coccidiosis. The present study aimed to determine the effects of different doses of artemisinin in broiler chickens with chronic usage. Sixty birds divided into one control and four treatment groups that fed rations mixed with artemisinin at doses of 17, 34, 68, and 136 ppm for 36 days. During the experiment, birds showed no clinical signs except anemia. In microscopic examinations, heart, lung, and spleen had no lesion, but liver, kidney, and brain showed various lesions. Degenerative lesions like intracytoplasmic eosinophilic inclusions were seen in both kidney and liver but fatty change was seen only in liver. There was no relationship between severity of the liver lesions and drug dosage. Central chromatolysis, scattered neuronal necrosis, and mild spongy changes were observed in five regions of the brain that were chosen for sectioning (motor cortex, cerebellar nuclei, midbrain nuclei, and hindbrain nuclei at two separate levels). Severity of lesions in brain was dose-dependent, and cerebral cortex was the most vulnerable area. Haematologic tests showed lower values for hematocrit and red blood cell count dose-dependently. In conclusion, artemisinin is a promising drug for prevention and control of coccidiosis in broiler chickens and its side effects are not too much serious especially at therapeutic doses.  相似文献

1. The influences of genotype, age and sex on droppings digestibility coefficients of a compound food were studied using male and female broiler chickens of three different genotypes at 2, 4 and 6 weeks of age.

2. Because the traditional method of determination of droppings digestibility coefficients of nitrogen may lead to systematic errors in estimating the feeding value of foodstuffs, a method is proposed to determine the ileal digestibility coefficients. The ileal method is compared with the droppings method for a mixed food and for two foodstuffs: wheat and solvent‐extracted soyabean meal.

3. Birds selected for efficient food conversion showed distinctly higher digestibility coefficients for all nutrients than birds selected for high growth potential or birds from a commercial strain.

4. The influence of age on digestibility coefficients was not consistent.

5. Female birds showed digestibility coefficients which were, in general, 3% higher than those of male chickens.

6. Interactions between genotype and sex and between genotype and age for energy metabolisability were the only interactions observed for digestibility measurements.

7. The method of determination influenced the amino acid digestibility coefficients of the mixed food and the relative feeding values of wheat and soyabean meal.

8. It is important to use well defined animals (genotype, sex, age) in evaluating foodstuffs.

9. The preferred method for determination of digestibility coefficients of nitrogen and amino acids is based on ileal sampling, although the differences in amino acid digestibility coefficients were small between methods.  相似文献

Thirty-two Ross 308 male broiler chickens were used in a precision feeding assay to investigate the effect of exogenous phytase (EC 3.1.3.26) on dietary apparent metabolisable energy (AME), dry matter digestibility (DMD) coefficient, nitrogen (NR), amino acid and mineral retentions. The excretion of endogenous losses measured as sialic acid (SA) was also determined. Four dietary treatments (control (C), C + 250 FTU (phytase units per kg feed), C + 500 FTU, and C + 2500 FTU) were studied with each treatment replicated eight times in randomised complete block design. Diets were formulated to be nutritionally adequate with the exception of available P content (2.3 g/kg non-phytate P). Over the 48-h collection period, the phytase fed birds retained 29.3 mg more Na and 2.3 mg more Zn (p < 0.05) than the control fed birds, with the relationship between phytase dose and Na and Zn retention being best described by a linear function (p < 0.05 and p < 0.001, for Na and Zn, respectively). Phytase supplementation did not have an effect on dietary AME, DMD and NR. However, increasing the dose of phytase led to a linear increase in dietary amino acid retention (p < 0.05). Dietary phytase decreased total sialic acid excretion in a linear fashion (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that supplementary phytase increases the retention (reduces the excretion) of dietary Zn and Na in broiler chickens. The beneficial effects of the addition of exogenous phytases to poultry diets seems to be mediated through improved dietary nutrients absorption and reduced endogenous losses.  相似文献

1. The apparent metabolisable energy (AME) and the true metabolisable energy (TME) contents of some feedingstuffs were determined with cockerels. The test materials consisted of feed‐grade lentil, lentil bran and wild vetch seed.

2. The average values of nitrogen lost, endogenous energy losses (EEL) and endogenous energy losses corrected to zero‐nitrogen balance (EELn) were found to be 1.18 g, 62.13 kJ and 21.51 kJ/bird/48h, respectively, from adult cockerels given an energy supply as 50 g glucose during starvation.

3. The nitrogen‐corrected apparent metabolisable energy (AMEn) values for feed‐grade lentil, lentil bran and wild vetch seed, respectively, were 6.84, 3.05 and 14.31 kJ/g dry matter. The nitrogen‐corrected true metabolisable energy (TMEn) values for the respective feedingstuffs were 7.44, 3.65 and 14.90 kJ/g dry matter.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

1. New production processes and additional uses for corn co-products have increased the availability of distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS) with varying energy and amino acid digestibility, for use in poultry feed. The objective of this study was to determine the performance, N-corrected metabolisable energy (AMEn), and amino acid (AA) digestibility of a 34% CP (as fed) high-protein DDGS (HP-DDGS) included in poultry diets for Cobb 500 broiler chickens.

2. A total of 832 Cobb 500 broilers were randomly assigned to four dietary treatments containing 5% conventional DDGS (CV-DDGS) as a control or 10%, 15% and 20% HP-DDGS and fed for 42 d. After the performance trial, 240 birds from the original 832 were selected for a concurrent AMEn and AA digestibility experiment consisting of two AMEn diets and two AA diets.

3. Birds fed diets containing 15% and 20% HP DDGS gained less weight than birds fed the CV-DDGS (P < 0.05) but did not differ in feed intake (FI), and therefore had a less efficient FCR than the control (P < 0.05). The AMEn of HP-DDGS was determined to be 11.4 MJ/kg. The standardised ileal amino acid digestibility (SIAAD) of the essential amino acids Lys and Met were determined to be 80.9% and 88.6%, respectively.

4. HP-DDGS can be included in broiler diets up to 10% without any negative impact on performance or requiring supplemental Lys and Arg. The results from the AA digestibility study indicated that HP-DDGS could be a good source of digestible Lys.  相似文献

1. Four experiments were carried out to study the effect of offering a 91.5 g/l solution of glucose, compared to tap water, on fluid intake, food intake and growth of individually-caged immature chickens of both layer and broiler strains. 2. Male chicks of an egg-laying strain were offered glucose solution or tap water from 27 to 62 d after hatching. There was no effect of glucose on fluid intake but it depressed food intake (P less than 0.01) to give equal total energy intakes for each treatment. Body weight gain was reduced (P less than 0.001) and carcase fat content increased (P less than 0.001) by the glucose to yield no difference to total carcase energy. 3. When birds were placed in a respiration chamber for two 23-h periods there was no effect of treatment on outputs of energy as faeces + urine or as heat. 4. Male broilers were offered glucose solution or tap water with diets containing either 150 or 195 g protein/kg from 20 to 55 d after hatching. With the low-protein diet glucose depressed food intake (P less than 0.01) but total energy intake and carcase energy were not significantly affected. With the high-protein diet glucose did not depress food intake but increased total energy intake and total body fat. 5. Layer and broiler chicks were offered either a choice of the low- and high-protein diets or a single diet intermediate in protein content, with glucose solution or tap water. With broilers total food intake was depressed by glucose, mainly by a reduced intake of the low-protein diet. Intake of neither diet by the layer chicks was significantly affected by glucose. 6. It is concluded that provision of extra energy in glucose solution depresses food intake when the resultant energy:protein ratio becomes limiting. With a higher protein diet, or with birds having lower protein requirements, glucose solution does not depress food intake and increased fat deposition occurs.  相似文献

1. Vegetable oil (VO) and tallow (T) were evaluated at rates of 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125g/kg in a basal diet with broiler chicks aged 1.5, 3.5, 5.5 and 7.5 weeks of age using a total collection period of 72 h. 2. Apparent metabolisable energy, corrected to zero nitrogen retention (AMEN, MJ/kg) and apparent fat availability (AFA, g/kg) of the experimental diets were employed to estimate the dietary energy values of fats, by linear and quadratic regression. 3. AME of fats, determined from AFA, had smaller standard errors than those determined from AMEN. 4. There was a marked increase in the AME of fats from 1.5 to 3.5 weeks of age; thereafter, the improvement was less pronounced. 5. Rate of improvement in fat AME with age was greater with T than VO.  相似文献

1. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of two lipotropic factors (choline and carnitine) on growth performance, oxidative stability of leg and breast muscles and carcass characteristics in broiler chickens fed diets differing in metabolisable energy (ME) levels.

2. A total of 540 one-d-old Ross 308 broiler chicks were allotted to 9 experimental diets, including three ME levels (control, or 0.42 or 0.84 MJ/kg higher ME) and three types of supplemental lipotropic factors (control, 1000 mg/kg of choline or 100 mg/kg of carnitine) as a 3 × 3 factorial arrangement of treatments. Average daily feed intake (ADFI), average daily gain (ADG) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were recorded during the starter (1–14 d of age), grower (15–28 d of age) and finisher (29–42 d of age) periods.

3. Results showed that the increase in dietary ME level had no impact on ADFI during the starter and grower periods. In the finisher period, increasing dietary ME decreased (P < 0.001) ADFI. Raising dietary ME level by 0.84 MJ/kg resulted in the greater ADG during the grower (P < 0.05) and finisher (P < 0.001) periods. Moreover, an improvement in FCR was observed with feeding the +0.84 MJ/kg diet. Dietary supplementation of lipotropic factors improved FCR values in birds fed the control and +0.84 MJ/kg diets during the grower and finisher periods (P < 0.01).

4. Dietary supplementation of both choline and carnitine increased (P < 0.05) moisture content of leg muscle, although malondialdehyde content of leg muscle was decreased (P < 0.01) in the presence of both lipotropic factors. Dietary supplementation of carnitine decreased (P < 0.01) leg fat content, and this effect was more obvious with higher ME levels, giving a significant ME × lipotrope interaction (P < 0.05). Higher dietary ME level (+0.84 MJ/kg) reduced (P < 0.05) protein content of breast muscle, but this factor was increased (P < 0.05) by dietary supplementation of choline.

5. Although dietary ME level had no marked effect on carcass yield and internal organ weight, supplemental choline increased (P < 0.01) carcass yield.

6. The results from this trial indicated that dietary supplementation with lipotropic factors can improve feed efficiency in high energy diets. In addition, oxidative stability of leg/breast muscles was improved as a result of dietary supplementation with choline or carnitine.  相似文献

The ability of the broiler chicken to metabolise energy and to digest and absorb amino acids increased from 30 to 50 d of age. Although sex had no major effect on metabolisable energy or amino acid digestibilities at these ages, the influence of environmental temperature on amino acid digestibilities appeared to be sex-related, there being decreased digestibilities of most amino acids at higher temperatures in female but not male birds.  相似文献

1. Two environmentally‐controlled houses, one at a constant 21°C (low temperature), the other diurnally cycling at 21 to 30°C (high temperature) and two diets of 13.0 MJ ME/kg (low energy, LE) and 13.8 MJ ME/kg (high energy, HE) were used to study the effects of age and sex on broiler carcase portions, dissected tissue proportions, and meat quality.

2. Slaughtering at 54 d instead of 34 d produced broilers with breast and leg weights of 277 and 308 instead of 284 and 319 g/kg carcase respectively, and a higher cutting loss (31 versus 6 g/kg carcass).

3. Males had lower proportions of breast, breast meat and fat, but higher proportions of leg, leg bone, and total meat to fat ratio than females.

4. Cycling high temperature resulted in higher breast, and lower leg proportions than constant low temperature.

5. High dietary energy content increased cutting loss, proportion of breast fat and lowered meat to fat ratio when compared to low energy, but did not affect the flavour of the meat, which was improved by age and high environmental temperature.  相似文献

1. The yields of true metabolisable energy (TME) and net energy (NE) from chaya leaf meal and wheatfeed were mcasured in tube-fed cockerels. 2. TME, 5.76 MJ/kg, from chava leaf meal was lower than from wheatfeed, 8.39 MJ/kg. The total heat increment attributable to the feeding of chaya leaf meal was 1-7 times greater than that of wheatfeed. 3. The net efficiency of utilisation of ME (k) from chaya leaf meal was 0.64, while that from wheatfeed was 0.86. The role of different chemical composition, especially the high fibre content of the materials, is discussed. 4. The metabolisable energy and net energy values derived from chava leaf meal represented 0.34 and 0.23 respectively of its gross energy content. The combination of lower TME and lower net efficiency of utilisation led to chaya having a NE value, 3.86 MJ/kg, which was only 0.53 that of wheatfeed.  相似文献
