The state of health was examined over two laying periods in a total of 648 Lohmann Selected Leghorn (LSL) and 216 Lohmann Brown (LB) laying hens kept in small group housing systems and furnished cages. In addition, the effect of group size, month of laying, trial, rearing method and body weight was tested. Autopsies of clinically healthy hens were performed every three months during the laying period. Diagnosed fatty livers were classified in three severity codes ranging from moderate to severe alteration. Continuative liver diagnostic was performed by analysing triacylglycerol concentration in serum of every hen. The most common diagnoses at autopsy of clinically healthy laying hens were fatty livers (53.9% in the first trial and 46.3% in the second) and diseases of the reproductive organs. In both trials, there was a significant effect of month of laying and body weight on the occurrence of fatty liver. In the second trial, the occurrence of fatty liver was also significantly affected by the housing system: fatty livers were found significantly most frequently in the Eurovent 625A-EU system. The effect of group size within housing system, layer strain and rearing method regarding the individual trials were found to be not significant.The serodiagnosis showed that laying hens with macroscopically assessed fatty livers had significantly greater triacylglycerol concentrations in serum than the laying hens without fatty livers. Endoparasites did not mean a health problem. In contrast, the red mite of poultry was detected in each examined system.  相似文献

1. Mortality and causes of death were recorded over two trials with 13045 Lohmann Selected Leghorn (LSL, white layer strain) and 4410 Lohmann Brown (LB) laying hens kept in furnished small group housing systems and furnished cages. In trial 1, hens were housed from weeks 19 to 71 (LSL) and 17 to 69 (LB). In trial 2, LSL hens were housed from weeks 18 to 57. 2. The hens were kept in groups of 40 and 60 in the furnished small group housing system Eurovent 625 + a-EU and in groups of 10 and 20 in the furnished cages Aviplus and Eurovent 625A-EU. 3. To investigate the possible effect on mortality of rearing the birds on litter floors or in cages, in trial 2 half of the LSL hens were reared on the floor and half in conventional cages. 4. Mortality was greater in the Eurovent furnished small group housing system (5.2%) than in the furnished cages Aviplus (4.0%) and Eurovent (4.2%). 5. Mortality was also affected by the interactions among housing system and trial, layer strain and rearing. In trial 1, more LB laying hens died in the Aviplus system than in the Eurovent group system. There was no significant difference in mortality of the LSL laying hens between housing systems in trial 1. In trial 2, mortality of the LSL hens was greater in the group housing system (hens reared on litter floors: 10.1%; hens reared in cages: 2.8%) than in the furnished cage Aviplus (hens reared on litter floors: 6.0%; hens reared in cages: 1.5%). 6. Mortality was greater in floor-reared LSL laying hens than in the LSL laying hens reared in conventional cages. 7. Group size within housing system had no significant effect on mortality. 8. The most common findings at autopsy were different types of cannibalism (65.51%), with vent cannibalism (38.57%) the most common.  相似文献

Foot pad health was examined in a total of 648 Lohmann Selected Leghorn (LSL) in two trials and in 216 Lohmann Brown (LB) laying hens in one trial kept in small group housing systems and furnished cages. The effects of housing system, strain, month of laying period, rearing method, group size and body weight were tested for significance by using analysis of variance. The assessment of foot pads was performed each three months during the laying period. The alterations of foot pads were classified in severity on a scale from 1 (no hyperkeratosis, no epithelial lesions, no swelling of foot pads) to 5 (severe hyperkeratosis and/or deep and large epithelial lesions and/or moderate or high-grade swelling of foot pads). In addition to the macroscopic findings, foot pads were histologically examined. Pathological alterations of foot pads were found in 86.1% of the laying hens, whereas 57.4% of the examined animals showed mild hyperkeratosis (degree 2). Modest hyperkeratosis and/or superficial lesions of the epithelium (degree 3) were detected in 21.0% of the laying hens examined. Severe hyperkeratosis and/or deep epithelial lesions and/or mild swelling of the foot pads (degree 4) as well as very severe hyperkeratosis and/or deep and large epithelial lesions and/or moderate or high-grade swelling of foot pads (degree 5) occurred with frequencies of 5.9% and 1.9% respectively. LB laying hens' food pads were more frequently affected by hyperkeratosis, whereas epithelial lesions were more frequently found in LSL laying hens. The prevalence of pathological alterations in foot pads was significantly influenced by housing system and month of laying period. The results of this study showed that laying hens kept in small group housing systems and furnished cages develop proliferative hyperkeratosis in foot pads due to increased mechanical compression load, caused by the use of perches and staying on wire floor.  相似文献

1. Foot pad health was determined macroscopically and histologically in two trials with Lohmann Selected Leghorn (LSL, white layer strain) and Lohmann Brown (LB) laying hens kept in a small group housing system (40 and 60 hens) and two types of furnished cages (10 and 20 hens). 2. A total of 864 foot pads (648 LSL and 216 LB) were examined macroscopically and classified according to severity of pathological alterations; of these, 180 metatarsal pads and 180 toe pads were also examined histologically for hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, elongation of rete folds, development of secondary papillae, erosion, ulceration, cellular infiltration and bacterial colonisation of the epidermal surface. 3. As for the macroscopic examinations, pathological alterations of foot pads were found in 86.1% of the hens, while 57.4% of the birds examined showed mild hyperkeratosis. Macroscopically moderate hyperkeratosis and/or superficial lesions of the epithelium were detected in 21% of the laying hens examined. Severe hyperkeratosis and/or deep epithelial lesions and/or mild swelling of the foot pads were found in 5.9% of the hens, and very severe hyperkeratosis and/or deep and large epithelial lesions and/or moderate or high-grade swelling of foot pads were found in 1.9%. 4. The histopathological examinations showed that the macroscopically determined thickening of the epidermis was due not only to hyperkeratosis, but also often to acanthosis. In addition, perivascular infiltrations of lymphocytes were also detected. Furthermore, the degree of hyperkeratosis in metatarsal pads was shown to correlate with the other histopathological traits except for ulceration, and the degree of hyperkeratosis in toe pads was related to the development of secondary papillae and cellular infiltration with lymphocytes. 5. The results of the macroscopic and histological examinations showed that the use of perches and the grasping of wire floor may have resulted in a permanent increased mechanical compression load leading to proliferative hyperkeratosis.  相似文献

试验旨在比较洪江雪峰乌骨鸡和罗曼粉蛋鸡的鸡蛋营养成分和蛋品质,为洪江雪峰乌骨鸡蛋用新品系选育提供依据。随机选取40周龄的洪江雪峰乌骨鸡(绿壳)、洪江雪峰乌骨鸡(粉壳)和罗曼粉壳蛋鸡各100只,每品种鸡随机分为5个重复,每个重复20只,在相同饲粮和饲养管理方式下进行饲养,45周龄收集鸡蛋检测营养成分和蛋品质指标。结果表明:洪江雪峰乌骨鸡绿壳蛋的蛋黄比例极显著高于罗曼粉壳蛋(P<0.01),蛋重、蛋壳厚度、哈氏单位极显著低于罗曼粉壳蛋(P<0.01),洪江雪峰乌骨鸡粉壳蛋的蛋重和蛋壳厚度极显著低于罗曼粉壳蛋(P<0.01);洪江雪峰乌骨鸡蛋中的多不饱和脂肪酸和硒元素含量均极显著高于罗曼粉壳蛋(P<0.01),洪江雪峰乌骨鸡绿壳蛋胶原蛋白含量极显著高于罗曼粉壳蛋(P<0.01)。综上所述,洪江雪峰乌骨鸡鸡蛋蛋黄比例高,蛋黄多不饱和脂肪酸、胶原蛋白、硒和锰含量高,适合作为优质禽蛋开发。  相似文献

1. Tibia and humerus breaking strength of Lohmann Silver hybrids kept in conventional cages, furnished cages and an aviary with outdoor run were examined in two production cycles. Each trial lasted a full laying period; feeding, management and healthcare were identical for all hens. In both trials bone strength was investigated at the end of laying months 6, 9 and 14. 2. The objective was to determine if bone strength increases when hens are kept in alternative housing systems, especially in furnished cages, and whether hen age affects bone stability. 3. The results indicated that housing system influenced bone breaking strength, which was consistently higher for hens in the aviary compared to hens in conventional and furnished cages. Furthermore, humerus breaking strength was higher for hens in furnished cages compared to conventional cages. No significant difference regarding tibia breaking strength was found between conventional and furnished cages. 4. Our results showed that lack of exercise contributed to the problem of weak bones more than did calcium depletion from eggshell formation. 5. Tibia breaking strength increased during the last third of the production cycle, whereas humerus breaking strength remained unaffected by hen age. 6. Genetic group affected only tibial bone breaking strength, which was lower overall in genetic group A than in group B, which in turn was lower than group C. 7. The increased bone strength in the aviary and in the furnished cages probably reduced the incidence of recently broken bones in these systems compared to the conventional cages. This increase in bone strength can be regarded as an improvement in welfare. Furnished cages, like the aviary system, might be considered an alternative housing system for laying hens, because both resulted in enhanced bone strength.  相似文献

As eggs represent now as ever the most important source for Salmonella infection in human beings and because of the currently occurring shift in housing conditions for laying hens from conventional cages to alternative systems it was studied whether the Salmonella prevalence in layers is influenced by the housing system. Following systems were considered: organic farming with free range management systems, floor management systems with free range, floor management systems without free range, conventional cages. 453 pooled faecal samples as single or double examination per herd from 329 flocks in different housing systems for table egg production from three Federal Lander were examined bacteriologically. The share of layer flocks which were Salmonella positive at least once independently of the housing system amounted to 32.2%. Analysis of the Salmonella findings in the single housing systems revealed that the share of Salmonella positive flocks was higher in conventional cage systems (46.3%) than in alternative housing systems (32.996% in organic farming with free range management systems, 21.9% in floor management systems with free range, 23.4% in floor management systems without free range).The results of the study clearly show that Salmonella Enteritidis (mostly phage type 4, other phage types rarely) presents with a share of 78% the dominant serovar in laying hens.The total number of all other serovars (apart from Salmonella Enteritidis and subspecies I rough) reached a share of ca. 14%, however, no other single serovar was dominant. As Salmonella Enteritidis is the predominant serovar in laying hens it is strongly recommended to use Salmonella Enteritidis vaccines for immunisation programmes of chickens during the rearing period. Because of the high prevalence of Salmonella organisms in the different housing systems, detailed information on the epidemiology of Salmonella in laying hens are needed to introduce effective control measures. Of particular interest is the question whether the Salmonella findings in laying flocks are the result of multiplication of already existing Salmonella organisms in the animals or whether the bacteria are introduced only during the laying period.  相似文献

1. The welfare of hens in 26 flocks (6 conventional cage, 6 furnished cage, 7 barn, 7 free-range) was assessed throughout the laying period using a combination of data on physical health, physiology and injurious pecking, collected by researchers on farm and during post-mortem analysis, and information submitted by producers. 2. There was an effect of housing system on 5 of the indicators recorded by researchers: gentle feather pecks given, feather damage score, proportion of hens with feather damage, proportion of the flock using perches, and faecal corticosterone. 3. Post-mortem analysis revealed several differences between housing systems in skin damage, plumage damage to the vent and abdomen, keel protrusion, bodyweight, and the proportion of hens that were vent pecked and that had old and recent keel fractures. 4. There was an effect of housing system on 5 indicators recorded by producers: proportion of egg shells with calcification spots, proportion of egg shells with blood stains, weight of hens found dead, temporal change in the proportion of egg shells with stains, and temporal change in proportion of hens found dead. 5. Each housing system had positive and negative aspects but overall, hens in barn systems had the highest prevalence of poor plumage condition, old fractures, emaciation, abnormal egg calcification, and the highest corticosterone. Hens in conventional cages sustained more fractures at depopulation than birds in other systems. Vent pecking was most prevalent in free-range flocks. The lowest prevalence of problems occurred in hens in furnished cages. 6. Although housing system had an influence on the hens' physical condition and physiological state, the high prevalence of emaciation, loss of plumage, fractures and evidence of stress is of concern across all housing systems, and suggests that the welfare of modern genotypes is poor.  相似文献

[目的]探索规模化养殖罗曼粉商品蛋鸡的产蛋特点和规律。[方法]选择9万羽罗曼粉蛋鸡,统计18~85周龄的产蛋率和累计产蛋数,采用分室模型、杨宁模型、伍德模型对产蛋率进行拟合分析,采用Bertalanffy、Gompertz、Logistic模型对累计产蛋数进行拟合分析,并与实际观测值进行比较。[结果]分室模型、杨宁模型和伍德模型的产蛋率曲线拟合度分别为0.935、0.997和0.450,杨宁模型的预测值与实测值最接近;Gompertz模型拟合累计产蛋数曲线效果最好,拟合度为0.996,预测拐点周龄为47.38周,拐点产蛋数为166.36枚,极限产蛋数为365.12枚,比实际低11.64枚。[结论]杨宁模型和Gompertz模型分别对规模化养殖罗曼粉商品蛋鸡产蛋率和累计产蛋数的拟合效果最佳,适用于评估和预测规模化养殖条件下罗曼粉商品蛋鸡的产蛋性能。  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of dietary protein level on nitrogen retention and compare nitrogen metabolism in Lohmann Brown adult roosters and layers. The nitrogen maintenance requirement ( Nm ) was determined based on the nitrogen balance. Thirty Lohmann Brown adult roosters and 30 laying hens at 27 weeks of age were randomly divided into five groups of six birds per group. The birds were fed with one of five diets containing 10.46%, 11.77%, 13.79%, 16.77% or 18.29%of crude protein. Nitrogen intake, nitrogen retention and nitrogen retention efficiency were higher in roosters than in laying hens, and the average nitrogen retention rate for groups fed with CP level of 11.77%,13.79%, 16.77% and 18. 29% was improved by 9.14%. The nitrogen maintenance requirement for Lohmann Brown roosters and laying hens at 27 weeks of age were 0.4245 g/d and 0.5059 g/d, respectively,and Nm based on average body weight (BW) and metabolic body weight ( BW0.75 ) was 0.2364 g/kg BW and 0.2739 g/kg BW0.75 for laying hens and 0.2754 g/kg BW and 0.3208 g/kg BW0.75 for roosters, respectively. The regression equations for daily N gain ( NB, protein accretion) vs. daily N intake ( NI )for Lohmann Brown layers and roosters were NB =0.3743NI -0. 1589(R2 =0.79) and NB =0.6228NI -0.3151 (R2 =0.85),respectively. The results of this study indicate that nitrogen intake and nitrogen retention at the same dietary CP level were higher in roosters than in laying hens.  相似文献

1. The aim of the present study was to determine the influence of large (54 or 60) and small (36 or 40) group sizes and tiers of the small group housing system “Eurovent German” on tibia and humerus bone breaking strength, keel bone status, plumage condition and egg quality for two commercial layer lines, Lohmann Selected Leghorn (LSL) and Lohmann Brown (LB), at the same stocking density (890 or 830 cm2/bird).

2. In 4 consecutive trials, 4752 hens were recorded for keel bone status. Evaluation of plumage condition was made for 1440 hens and bone breaking strength was recorded for 1200 hens. A total of 4962 eggs were analysed for internal and external egg quality traits. Analyses involved 30 small group compartments per trial.

3. The layer line had a much more pronounced influence on humerus breaking strength than on tibia breaking strength.

4. Plumage condition, particularly on the neck, was positively correlated with humerus breaking strength in both layer lines.

5. An average of 34% of LB and 23% of LSL hens showed keel bone deformities, with higher proportions of slight deformities.

6. Slight keel bone deformities, rather than moderate to severe, increased significantly during the laying period.

7. Stocking density had no influence on bone breaking strength, keel bone status and egg quality traits.

8. LB layers had a 1.4-fold higher humerus, but only a 1.06-fold higher tibia breaking strength compared to LSL layers.

9. Tibia breaking strength was significantly affected by the interaction of group size and layer line. LSL layers in small groups had lower tibia breaking strengths than those of the large groups.  相似文献

In conventional cages laying hens are subjected to restricted movement and a lack of ability to fulfil most of their natural behaviours. Thus, welfare and health of laying hens can be highly limited in conventional cages. Due to the rising criticism of conventional cages the EU passed a directive in 1999 (CEC, 1999) in order to ban conventional cages by the beginning of 2012. Because of this decision alternative housing systems like floor pens, aviaries or free range systems will gain importance in the future. In these housing systems laying hens have the opportunity to live out their natural behaviours to a higher extent. But also alternative housing systems have some disadvantages. Frequent infections leading to higher mortalities can be detected. Besides that egg production in alternative systems is often not so high and stable like in cages. Furnished cages and small-group-systems represent the attempt to retain the high economic and hygiene standards of conventional cages, while offering the hens the possibility to exercise and fulfil some of their natural behaviours. With regard to productivity, egg quality and bone strength this attempt seems to function, whereas keel bone deformities and the lack of ability to live out natural behaviours are still problems in furnished cages.  相似文献

Walking and bouts of wing movement performed by 61-week-old ISA brown laying hens which had been taken from one batch of eggs and then kept in three different housing systems which allowed a gradation in spatial freedom, were recorded. After slaughter the breaking strengths of the humerus and tibia of birds from each system were measured. Birds from battery cages exhibited the fewest limb movements and had the weakest bones, their humeri having only 54 per cent of the strength of those of birds from a perchery. Birds from the Elson terrace system were heavier and had a stronger tibia than cage birds. Compared with perchery birds, terrace birds had weaker humeri and also performed fewer wing movements. The results indicate that the amount of movement possible for laying hens in battery cages was insufficient to avoid levels of osteopenia and consequent bone fragility much greater than in birds kept in the perchery and Elson terrace systems.  相似文献

Gross pathologic and histologic changes were investigated in a total of 1000 end-of-lay hens. Thirty animals were drawn from free range stocks, 270 from deep litter stocks, and 700 from caging systems. The following changes were evaluated with regards to housing systems: Pododermatitis, deformation of the keel bone and amputated beaks occurred primarily in free range hens. Deep litter hens also suffered from pododermatitis, keel bone deformation and amputated beaks in addition to pecking wounds. In caged hens severe fatty liver syndromes, injuries of the claws and inflammation of the feather follicles were mainly found. Furthermore, injuries and fractures due to handling and transport were almost exclusively found in caged hens. It has to be concluded that all of the investigated housing systems can predisposed hens to certain lesions. The documented changes--e.g. chronic inflammation, skelettal deformities and injuries--are painful and may lead to permanent alterations. Therefore, these changes should be condemned as conflicting with animal protection regulations.  相似文献

对1249只健康的23周龄的罗曼褐父母代种母鸡的产蛋情况进行观察,试验期67 d(至32周龄),目的在于了解产蛋前期,蛋用种鸡产蛋性能的变化规律。试验结果表明,随鸡群日龄的增大蛋壳颜色逐渐变浅,产蛋率和种蛋合格率逐渐上升,鸡群的死淘率在开始人工授精的前2周最高,双黄蛋率随产蛋率的上升而逐渐减小,双黄蛋平均重随产蛋率上升逐渐增大,到产蛋率达最高峰时开始变小,软壳蛋率和破蛋率随鸡群日龄的增大而逐渐减小,总蛋重及种蛋平均重随鸡群日龄的增大而逐渐增大。  相似文献

本试验旨在研究甜菜碱对蛋鸡脂肪肝出血综合征的预防效果。选用300日龄海蓝褐蛋鸡120只,随机分为3组,每组4个重复,每个重复10只,在自由采食、饮水和光照16 h的条件下,分别饲喂正常日粮(代谢能11.30 MJ/kg,粗蛋白质17.20%)、高能量低蛋白质日粮(代谢能12.81 MJ/kg,粗蛋白质13.04%)和添加1000 mg/kg甜菜碱的高能量低蛋白质日粮60 d。于试验期第1、30、60天,每组取8只鸡采血制备血清和采集肝脏样品及腹脂,测定血脂含量、肝脂率和腹脂率,结合产蛋性能及病理学变化,综合判定脂肪肝出血综合征(fatty liver hemorrhagic syndrome,FLHS)的发生及甜菜碱的预防效果。结果表明,与对照组相比,饲喂高能量低蛋白质日粮30 d即可引发FLHS,饲喂60 d则病情进一步加重;而在高能量低蛋白质日粮中添加1000 mg/kg甜菜碱后,饲喂30 d时甜菜碱可显著抑制FLHS的发生,具有很好的预防作用,但饲喂60 d时甜菜碱的预防作用减弱。  相似文献

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of ageing corn levels (stored for 4 years) with or without the supplementation of tea polyphenols (TPP) on the performance, egg quality and antioxidant status of laying hens. A total of 288 Lohmann commercial laying hens (63-week-old) were used under a 2 × 4 factorial arrangement with 4 levels of dietary ageing corn (0%, 25%, 50%, or 100%) and 2 levels of TPP (0 and 600 mg/kg) for 8 wk. Dietary ageing corn linearly decreased (P < 0.05) the egg production, serum total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), liver glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) of laying hens, yolk index, yolk colour, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) value and the reducing power value of egg yolk, but it linearly increased (P < 0.05) the feed conversion rate, ovary malondialdehyde (MDA) content of laying hens, and the protein carbonyl content of egg yolk. Tea polyphenol supplementation increased (P < 0.05) the serum T-AOC, serum superoxide dismutase (SOD), liver SOD, liver GSH-Px, ovary SOD, GSH-Px, the expression of antioxidant-related genes of laying hens, albumen height, Haugh unit, DPPH value and the majority free amino acids of egg yolk, but it decreased (P < 0.05) the serum MDA content of laying hens, MDA and protein carbonyl of egg yolk. In conclusion, the ageing corn significantly reduced the performance, egg quality, antioxidant status and egg antioxidant capacity of laying hens, while TPP supplementation partially counteracted the adverse effects, especially antioxidant status and egg antioxidant capacity of laying hens.  相似文献

The efficiency of beta-glucanase or xylanase containing enzymes supplemented to rations for laying hens on the basis of barley-rye and wheat-rye were tested in two balance experiments. Five diets for eight hens each (White Lohmann Leghorn Hybrids) have been proved. The balances were carried out in the 23rd and 29th week of life. Statistically significant differences in the digestibility of nutrients like protein, fat and starch as well in the transformation of gross energy and metabolizable energy appeared especially in the first balance period. In the second balance period the starch digestibility was increased significantly from 93.7% to 99.7% by enzyme supplementation of the barley-rye rations. A positive influence of enzymes on the ileal digestibility of starch and fat could also be found. The addition of enzymes led to a decreasing reaction of the viscosity in the feed, in the different parts of the digesta and in the excreta.  相似文献
